  • Day 8 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – CD/FD

Morning all. Yesterday’s LFD was slightly limped out by a small slice of ham wrapped around a low fat cheese triangle. To be honest, not so bad, as I had huge URGE fir a bowl of fruity muesli, but the ham snack took precedence. So not a full LFD. Down 1.5lbs this morning, that’s 4.5 since Monday morning, so that’s the weekends alcohol taken care off 😄

Today will either be a FD OR a CD depending on this evening. I do t really want to do 4 FD’s in a row so I might just keep it controlled (like I should when I get to maintenance).

Actually yes, that’s what I’ll do – I will make like I am in maintenance and be controlled today. I have about 7 pounds to go for goal so better start getting ready ☺️

@dingping good to hear that so far so good with your FD’s. Do keep patting yourself on the back, you deserve it! Many of us have found that FD’s are indeed easier than NFD’s as the dragon is tamed. How we deal with our NFD’s is an ongoing project for most of us ☺️. By the way, regarding losing your posts – it often happens that if you go back to amend something in the original post, the darn thing just disappears 😡. I now either pre-write in my iPad notes..or forget about correcting my spelling mistakes, it’s such a pain to lose a long post!!

@cogumuela it certainly does become easier to deal with the perception of hunger once you have started on this WOL. I too used to get “hangry” when I was hungry, but not now. Well done so far

@mogaman I had fixed the access problem on the spreadsheet a few days ago. Would you check again? Sorry fir these technical issues, I used to be good at spreadsheets once!!

@rari welcome to the forum. Have a look at my first post on page 1 which gives tips on posting norms here. Great bunch of helpful people on board.

Today is a good day to have a good day 🤗

    Day 8 UK FD

@ccco Thanks for highlighting the Dr Mogman article on fasting, I’ll check it out. It was quite strange not being hungry on a long fast. Dr Fung’s blog talks about Grehlin levels controlling this. I’m fasting again today and may try to go through to tomorrow evening on a bowl of bone-broth I have in the fridge.

Good luck to all you fasters and controllers today. We are all doing a great job this month so far.

    Day 8 – London – CD
Morning all, beautiful blue sky if a bit chilly in north London today.
Woke foggy headed and thirsty after a deep sleep post FD yesterday.
Weigh in good 2.5 kg in first week – hope I’m not going in too hard and fast and will crash and burn in a few weeks. Feeling good though but thinking large weight loss might be due to not keeping the fluid intake high?
@ccco – my bit of London isn’t near Hyde Park but I am near Hampstead Heath and as it is such a beautiful day I will probably take a potter in that direction and take in the great views of the city you get from there. I like London but I crave wide open spaces and peace and quiet – maybe I should be careful what I wish for as have heard some find the countryside too quiet. I grew up near Dartmoor, in Devon a wild rugged landscape and as I get older my heart and head are pulling me back.
@daffodil2010 thanks for the advice re writing posts, it is most likely my fat fingers hitting the wrong thing – I don’t have the deftness of a 16 year old!
Thanks also for yours and everyone’s encouraging words.
Aiming to pat myself on the back today.
Keep up the good work everyone.

@ccco I overeat on NFDs, but try and compensate with exercise and more fasting periods. I’m reading the Every Other Day Diet book at the moment. It lets you eat what you want on NFDs. Most people don’t actually eat over 110% of their ‘normal’ TDEE if they are allowed to eat what they want. So not worrying about restricting yourself on NFDs may actually help you not overeat. That said, my NFD yesterday ended with a load of cack before bedtime 🙂 This included a chocolate mousse desert. It tasted absolutely disgusting, way too sweet. It was like an recipe for instant Type 2 Diabetes.

Day 8, London, UK, FD (2nd of B2B)

The scales are still not playing fair, however, my clothes are still loose and with the added exercise I’m toning up – never a bad thing – so I’ll keep plodding along. Yesterday was my first successful Fd in a while, by that I mean there wasn’t a sneaky apple or spoonful of peanut butter or yoghurt – nothing wrong with these choices, but it’s such a slippery slope, my FDs had become closer to 7-800 cals (Peanut butter = calorie bomb) and NFDs weren’t exactly perfect hence, the dreaded PLATEAU!!! ALL my own doing of course, hopefully I’m back on track!!!!

@nesslock2018, I’ve just started to incorporate HIIT into this WOL, as I need to tone up some jiggly bits!!, I had only been walking 30-40mins/day until January and after a year without anything specifically ‘fat-burning’ I had eradicated 35+lbs. I think the general consensus is that exercise is great for heart & mental health, but weight-loss isn’t dependent on it………………. It’s ALL about what you shovel down your throat!!!!!!

@johnnyr, I’ve eaten a few things lately that have also ‘tasted absolutely disgusting’ & been a ‘recipe for instant type 2 Diabetes’ …………..unfortunately I only come to that conclusion AFTER I’ve eaten it!!!!!!!

I hope those who are struggling can regain their mojo, I’ve got mine in my sights, I just can’t keep hold of the wisp of a thing!!!!!
    Stay strong folks!!!!

    Day 8 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

So far February is a month of celebratory feasting days and FDs, the contrast feels extreme!! Such is life 😊

Good lunck for a successful day fellow Thursday fasters 💧🐲⚔️👍

    2nd post

@flourbaby those scales don’t tell the whole truth – as you’re toning up you may be building muscle which weighs more than fat. So the less jiggly you is toned and beautiful – scales are dim……..I would like some speaking scales rigged to say ‘you look gorgeous today’ ☺️

    London UK. Day 8. FD

Hello fellow Londoners. I’m in SW London. I like to say between Wimbledon and Chelsea, but unfortunately it’s also between Wandsworth and Tooting ( nowhere near as fancy as the first two boroughs).

I’m someone else who won’t count calories. And I won’t weigh myself. My weight is slowly going down, my clothes get slowly looser, I feel as fit as a fiddle, and I don’t stress if I have a bad day. It doesn’t help.

For those who want to avoid alcohol, Alcohol Explained basically talks you out of it. Once you’ve read the book, you tend to lose interest in drink, which is a minor miracle for someone who was very dependent on drinking loads of wine.

    Have a great day all.

    Day 8 North Wales FD

    Day 8, Belfast, FD

Getting a bit distracted today, thinking about food, but I really want to get another FD under my belt this week. I’m going to get a coffee, fill up my water bottle and plod on.
It’s great to have this forum to check in to. I’m still catching up on posts lol!

@daffodil2010 – can you please add me to the spreadsheet. I thought I was on it, adding my aims etc, but I can’t see my name. Thanks so much!

    Good luck everyone today xx

    Day 8…..Florida….FD

Oh, I start out fine but I can’t land on the FD runway, the airport keeps diverting me to the NFD runway. On top of it all, I just realized, I am not doing my 16:8 either, not sure when I got on the 12 hour only fast, and a 12 hour eating hour plane.

Hubby tells me to take a deep breath and relax, Wed starts Lent, so you’ll readjust when sugar and soda are eliminated for it. So, there you have it, my two addictions will be layed to rest. Hopefully allowing me to land this plane on the right runway and find my seat on the wagon.

I’m really looking forward to Lent, last year it really helped me in my new world. So, hopefully it will work this year too!

I talk a lot of smack for someone who tips over while trying to put on their underwear!

    Day -8 -FD- USA

Up 2 lbs. on the scale this morning. Not sure why.. Feeling a little defeated.

    Day 8 Leicestershire UK-NFD
    Hi @daffodil2010
Been following your forums on the February Monthly Challenge. I have added myself to your spreadsheet and have now plucked up courage to post a comment. Loving the extra boost from this challenge.
Prefer to do 4:3 especially as I am very late back on the wagon from the festive period…too many chocolates in the house…should have made my children take them home with them instead of stuffing my face in January. Oh well, lets see how week 2 unfolds….positive thinking always.

    Day 8, Guildford UK, NFD

Tomorrow is probate day for dad, grieving today.

    V

    day 6:NFD
    day 7:FD
    day 8:NFD
    struggling with this month already

    Day 8, CFD/FD? USA

Well yesterday’s supposed CFD was a complete bunk. To take Bert1802’s analogy further, my plane not only got diverted but went into a holding pattern for hours and the friendly flight crew kept topping up my glass and bringing me snacks. Of course, I was too polite to refuse and downed the lot.

Hello from NI day 8 slow day

Yesterday wasn’t a full liquid only day as I pre-made a chicken, Chorizo leek and brocolli pie for the family to have tonight as I am out for dinner with my son’s partner (the expectant mum). But when it came out of the oven it smelt so lovely I had a little corner of it. I then had an apple but I believe I still earned and awarded myself a gold star.

I had been saying my son goes to NZ next year, then it was, he goes this year, then it was next month, now its this month! – YIKES! But I am so proud of him deciding this is what he wants to do and going on to do it. We are having a bit of a send off for him tomorrow night with friends and family. May offer to be designated driver – I’ll see how it goes.

@songbirdme – hope you are feeling better and got home safe.

@roo64 – welcome to the family.

    @rainbowsmile – hugs ()

@ciren2 – you only fail if you stop trying.

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.”

    Day 8 Akron OH FD

    Day 8, UK, NFD

Day 8 Stevensville Maryland @emma Taylor thank you for the lead on Alcohol Explained great read so far. Today is a FD yesterday was a CD and I nailed it. Going to try LFD today it is only 9:15am here so many hours ahead. I do 16:8 on NFDs so my first meal of the day is around noon. Once again, I had a talk with my scale and managed not to step on this am. Really looking forward to tomorrows weigh in and measurements.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

Day 8, Rocky Mountains, US, CD

Yesterday’s 800 cals CD morphed into a CD at about 1200 cals. I am just not in FD mode. Will keep trying harder once lent starts. I am glad I am not alone with my struggles. Still on the sugar and dry till Fri wagon. 😊

Have a good day everyone! 🌷🌷🌷

    Day 8 – USA – NFD

My FD turned into a NFD yesterday…as soon as I get my head together and get a little more settled, I’ll be more dilligent about FDs.

Day 9, Hampshire, UK – FD

Been a mad week….today I realised that I forgot to post yesterday, yesterday was a NFD for me, today is my 3rd FD as I have switched days round this week but wanted to make sure I still did 4:3.

Had a heavy weights session at the gym yesterday (possibly after feeling guilty for having a small KFC meal for lunch, I have been craving fried chicken for weeks and it had to be done, I was proud of myself for getting a small meal but the calories were still sky high!!), I would like to think that 1.5 hours at the gym did it, my apple watch said 850 calories were burnt – it better be right lol

I don’t plan on having fast food all the time as I am changing how I eat but also what I eat, I have never been the type to have lots of fast food but through years of dieting, I have learned to give in to cravings every once in a while before they explode into a binge. I haven’t had fast food for at least 5 months but I still felt a little guilty after…anyways new day today, I still remember the taste of that crunchy chicken so I’m happy 😀

Anyways as a result of the gym yesterday, I am more hungry than usual today. I usually prefer to have my 500 calories in a single meal on FD so I literally fast until dinner and have my calories for dinner but today I got a garden salad from Waitrose for lunch as I was really struggling and my stomach was making too much noise through the meetings, I guess this means a smaller dinner :S

@roo64 welcome, step 1 is to join, step 2 is to complain, step 3 will be to celebrate…that’s how this diet works. We all start by complaining about how hard it is, the hungry days, the cravings but once you start to see the scales shift, you will get the boost which keeps you going. Good luck & ask any questions which come to mind, this forum is great!!

    Day 8, Atlanta,GA USA, FD

    Day 8, Atlanta,GA USA, FD

    Day 8 USA Wisconsin NFD
Scale not moving much this week, but feeling good about what I’m eating.

Plan is to complete a controlled NFD, avoiding sugar and excessive carbs. Activity will be indoors because of continuing ice, snow and cold. It’s a perfect day to try the HIIT indoor workout that was sent to me by @debster251 (thanks again for the link!!).

    Here is the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05w69pz

If the link doesn’t work, the workout is below.

Home HIIT – do three times a week.
Warm Up with gentle jog, then 1 minute of each. (Star Jumps are called Jumping Jacks in the USA)
    Star Jump
    Squat
Static Sprint (run in place as fast as you can)
    Squat
    Star Jump

Good luck to everyone today. Together we are doing this.
    Take care, Markie

    Day 8, South Wales, FD

@markie99 – thanks for the links to the HIIT programme, going to give it a try – I like the idea of 3 x under 10 mins workouts being sufficient for the week!

Re. hunger – when I was a kid and pestering for snacks in between meals, my mother used to say “if you’re hungry, jump up and down until you’re not, then come back at dinnertime” – it worked. Guessing it’s a bit like HIIT releasing fat stores

Interesting journal article on HIIT at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2991639/

    Good luck all fasting today!

Day 8 Newcastle UK NFD 🇬🇧.
Having a canny week so far. 2 days off work due to mechanical problems with the taxi☹. Having a nice stir fry tonight really looking forward to it.

Day 8 – SW WA USA – FD

Needing this FD to finish getting rid of NFD indulgences on the past weekend. Hopefully will stay more controlled this weekend. One of my weaknesses is the Russell Stover’s sugar free chocolates. A couple are fine, but more are finding their way into my mouth as are some yummy hazelnuts. They’re all good things but need to be moderated.

@daffodil2010 = quick question, what footwear did you find you needed for your Peru trip? The group we’re going with suggests hiking shoes/boots for part of it at least. We’ll be doing some city walking tours & time at Machu Pichu,Lima & Cusco. I’ve been having some issues with my left foot metatarsal (Sp?) area & I do so want to be enjoying the walking. I’m seeing my chiro for adjustments & also an accupuncturist.

    Together we are stronger!

    Day 8 – FD – Oklahoma USA

I seem to remember to check in more on FDs then not – I wonder why 🙂

So far I am doing well – coffee with half and half and an orange. Its not quite noon yet but I’m not hungry.

I have noticed that I am going down about 2 ounces a day, not a lot but consistent. I will keep this WOE up for the entire month and see if it jives with my make up.

@belfastsink Done! I have included you on the sheet – you must not have been on the January challenge sheet? See link below
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1u-MA-58JPJTF-QCmKIgblSQ5sW7aajLgypUZ1cacACA/edit?usp=sharing

@ AnneMarilyn I brought two pairs of shoes to Peru with me. I had nice little flat ankle boots for city nights (and did not wear them too much) and I had a good pair of Ecco walking/hiking boots. You will absolutely need the hiking boots for Machu Picchu as its quite difficult terrain for all but the youngsters. In Cusco there is a fair bit of walking around the ancient Inca town so boots again.
    So jealous

    Day 8 Belfast FD
I had a great walk today on a lovely fresh and sunny winter morning.

@ccco I’d have to practise! The plot thickens, because many of us are ‘Blow-ins’. I’m originally from the south of England but have lived in NI FOR 40 years so my accent is a complete mishmash!
    Safe journey @songbirdme
    @rainbowsmile (((Hugs)))
@coda it’s hard putting your kids on a plane and waving them goodby. Been there and got the Tshirt -twice. I’ll be thinking of you.
@markie99 I’m still suffering the muscle after effects from my HIIT the other morning! However, I intend to stick with it. I managed the chair test in 15 seconds which makes me pleased. That was the easiest bit of the whole thing! The original programme ‘The Truth about getting Fit’ is still on the iplayer if you’re in the UK.

Here’s another link summarising the fast exercise if you can’t get it on the Iplayer.

Fasting does not win all the battles, but it is winning the war” Thank you Dykask

Thanks,, JohnnyR! I am considering not counting calories, so I don’t get obsessed with it! Stay strong! 🙂

Have a great run, Dinping! It sounds beautiful! It is way too cold for going outside for me. I can’t wait for spring! :0

Day 8 FD 800cal Oregon USA

I see a lot of fasters but no pocket list. (Sad face…pouts)
Being one of the last to hop on daily due to time zones, and of course my generally lazy disposition…(Smiling)..I humbly nominate someone in either Australia or London (busts up laughing as she secretly means all of the UK) to be in charge of creating pocket lists.

Well anyways…here I am on my third 800ish calorie day of the week. Seems to be helping me manage better. I guess tomorrow morning we will know, won’t we??
It’s the dreaded scale morning for those of you that don’t know my weighing pattern.
Once a week on Fridays after FD’s.

By tomorrow the month will be 1/3 over!

Have a great day everyone, wherever you are. (And even if you don’t start a pocket list) 🙂

EmmaTaylor! Good luck with your fast today! I know what you mean about the wine! I love my wine but have given it completely…for now! LOL As soon as I get where I want to be, the wine will be back! 🙂

Therealwil: Stay strong! I’ve been on a bumpy road this week, too, but I am so determined to enter Spring on the right foot that I refuse to lose sight! I even start browsing the internet for the latest Spring fashions to distract me. I want those fashions to fit me!! LOL Exercise also helps me stay the course. I don’t know why but it keeps me focused better on my diet! 🙂

Roo64, welcome! This is a great website with lots of enjoyable people and good advice. I look forward everyone morning to everyone’s posts. Good luck! 🙂

Rainbowsmile: Sorry to hear about your father!

Annach, me too! However, I seem to be back on track after a rough week. I am relatively new to all this and even though it’s been a month, I am still figuring out what works best for me, trying different approaches! Stay strong and you will succeed! 🙂

    Day 8 – Massachusetts – NFD

Yesterday’s sushi was yummy. Today I am grabbing dinner with a different friend… busy social time makes it hard for me to watch my NFDs. Tomorrow will be a FD to keep me on track, but then Saturday is more festivities for my friend’s birthday. No wonder it is challenging to lose weight! Not to worry, I will do my best, and maybe even throw in a CD or FD on Sunday.

    Hang in there all!

    Day 8, Gozo, Malta, nfd

I was 1.5 kilos less then today week this morning. Very encouraging. I hope to keep on going on. I spent December and January losing and gaining the same weight over the weekend.

Today I went over tdee but not much.

Coda what a wise quote! I like it.

Good evening/night everyone, onwards and downwards

ccco USA Day 8 FD: So far so good! Because I blew my Monday’s FD, I have been doing 16:8 days and FDs all week. Tomorrow I will do a CNFD, eating three controlled meals throughout the day. It helps to troll this site when I begin to feel I have losing control. By the time I am done, the hunger has past. I have pre prepared for meal for breaking my fast in order to keep me from losing it! Last night, I made the mistake of trolling online sites that ultimately disparage what we are doing, including saying we all will gain even more weight when we stop fasting! So I went back to the science sites, which made me feel better! I won’t do that again! Did all my exercising with my personal trainer this morning, so am feeling good. I am disappointed that bad weather prevented me from going to yoga this week but there is still next week! Stay strong! 🙂

    Day 8 – NFD – Budapest

Today went OKish- I had a huge lunch because I waited too long to eat after yesterday’s FD, and I felt super ravenous. Need to find a way to keep that in check. My dinner was on the smaller side, though, so perhaps it will all even out 🙂 The scale has been my friend this morning- a little over 2 lbs lost since the beginning of this challenge!

    Day 8 – Fife, Scotland – FD

If I haven’t lost a wee bit of weight tomorrow morning I’ll be upset. Two days fasting with two days 16:8 in between and a wee cycle as well.
After I’ve weighed in I’ll be eating until Sunday night!!

    Rodger

    Hi all,

I’ve just joined the February challenge although this is my 4th week of fasting. The first 3 weeks have been relatively easy, but this week has been particularly difficult – I feel very tired and don’t manage to work very well, so I thought if I joined the group I may get a bit of a boost.
Thank you @daffodil2010 for setting this up!

    Day 8 UK ?CD/?FD

yesterday ended up as a controlled day, just under 1400 calories. Today’s an accidental OMAD but really hungry. It would be good to get a 2nd FD under my belt this week if I can, but tired and lots still to do today.

Long day at event, not drunk enough water or eaten anything at all but the day went surprisingly well. Got home and just fixed my MRI scan for my broken wrist, 10 days to wait and then I’llknow if i need surgery.

Got a difficult & urgent piece of work left to do tonight – I prepared everything but the most important thing! I definitely need to eat something protein-full & sustaining, hoping to boost my brain and keep my energy going. Trying to summarise 7 years of work into a lively 10 minute presentation – here’s to living hopefully 😀

Scotdrog! I am right there with you! I’ve been on a similar plan as yours and really really feel I have the right to expect something from all that effort. I am almost done with my FD but the dragon is banging on my door! Stay strong!

    Day 8 MI, USA FD

Yesterday’s plans blew up due to work emergency, so I had to trudge into work instead of going to health club 😕 (although it was trudging by car instead of by feet). Ate well last night, DH loves rice and makes it with every meal, but I stayed away from that and stuck with baked chicken and veggies, with fruit for dessert. Feeling hungry right now, even with sticking to my increased water intake. Will power through, have to power through!

Thanks @ccco, for the encouragement! Wasn’t able to get torte due to work emergency, told DS we will celebrate this weekend. Hopefully will feel better about splurging after weigh in tomorrow. Now if only DH will get home so I can go to health club!

    Have a great evening, everyone🌞

Good luck. Vtenks! I am on a FD right now and fighting off that dragon! I hope I make it. I keep thinking about how fasting repairs free radical cell damage, which is something I want badly! 🙂 I also look at Spring fashions hoping I will fit in some of these things this Spring. Nice thought! I make it to my personal trainers today, which made me happy. I am on top of everything and fighting to stay there! I want to see something on that scale on weigh in day! Good luck and stay strong!
