  • Morning all!
Dave- glad you’ve got all your holiday money back, save it for next year if Denise is better by then?
Jean- you’ll be needing a holiday with all the rushing about! Your grandson is certainly getting about! Is the younger one knuckling down now?
Minols- hope last night was good, & hope you get all the work done quickly! Shame on a Saturday, you won’t see much of OH & son…
Hope everyone else has a good weekend…
Eldest safely home, stuffed his dinner down, & then went straight out to see his girlfriend! 6hr round trip driving, plus lots of driving on his training day (test driving the new Peugeot 508), he should’ve had an early night! Youngest was pleased as one of the staff has been sacked, so he’s been asked to cover, so lots of overtime! They were both up at 6am for work today…no lie-in as Xena woke too, our wedding anniversary, 28 years!

    Morning All…
Popping back with the dry ink cartridges, £28!!…we don’t need replacements sorted now for Argos..

All more or less packed but keep changing my mind..cool at a night so a few long sleeved things…strange we would have been leaving daughters tomorrow what a difference a month makes…hope to surprise her in the Spring, I will ring SIL and ask him to tell her a work colleague is coming overnight to stay…which often happens…surprise them all…😀…at least the bedroom will be ready…lol

    Hedgehog..
What a busy morning you have had so far….lovely on the overtime for your youngest..

Our grandson ( who needs a kick up the bum) has had a couple of extra shifts too for the last two weeks, must be holiday cover…he does his English re sits Monday and Wednesday..is he ready?? doubt it ..hope he scrapes through..he never seems to study not like his mum and her sister did when at home with me….

    Dave..
Thanks for the weather I am watching it…a bit of a mixed bag..a bit of rain about but warm…we will be drinking some of the wet stuff..definitely a week off….we can catch the bus and buy a brolly..lol..not too bothered…but be nice for some sun….

    Have a lovely weekend all…

    Jean x

Pathos is the place we went the very first time to Cyprus,I had a pint of Keo in a frozen pint pot, lovely.Been to Cyprus eight times, twice to Pathos,it rained the first time, about twenty spot’s of rain and that was it,the next time we went to Pathos,we stayed in the Ledra Beach hotel and we had a real big storm, thunder and lightning. The other six times we have gone to Protaras and never had Rain there. We have seen all the sights except for Aphrodite’s bath.

    Happy anniversary Hedgehog’s,have a great day,no fasting 😁

    Dave..
We are going to Louis Phaethon Beach Club…4 1/2 stars on Tripadvisor…although it’s got a big children’s section that’s closed for the season…hoping there’s not too many children about….it is getting into the rainy season now…in Lafayette Katie sometimes has rain, thunder and lightening forecast all week and she never sees anything…🤞

All sorted now…just kicking heels waiting to go…

    Jean x

We stayed about the four or five hotels from yours, you will need to get the bus to the Harbour, but they are very cheap. Our hotel was called the Ledra Beach, you will see it while you’re there.

Poor old Heidi, she doesn’t know what to do, she went upstairs, came down hid under the table, now she jumps with every bang and will have it all to do again maybe tomorrow and Monday.

Its a shame the gireworks can’t be over & done with in one night! Often goes on for weeks here, but not heard so many this year…some really loud ones tonight though & there’s the villega display tomorrow night! We’ve been putting firework clips on th tv for Xena to get used to, but it’s a bit diferent to real ones!
We’ve had a nice meal, but now Xena’s on the sofa between us!

I think before we got Heidi from the dogs home she had been roaming the streets in November so that’s why she is so afraid.

    Good Morning…

A quiet start this morning..then colouring my hair ..a bit of ironing to do…a neighbour gave me some baking apples they need cooking and freezing…a bit of a clean up…boring boring….

Lots of fire works last night continuing on till late…the dog next door was continually barking for 6 hours….I can forgive her because of the fireworks….but she woke Steve up the night before about 3 am constantly barking I don’t think the owners even heard her….they will possibly when Steve knocks of their door if it continues …..their other dog who died was so quiet….this one is a poodle mix always yappy dogs…moan over …

    Enjoy your day..

    Jean x

It’s quite warm here today, took Heidi out while it’s quite hoping it’s not as noisy tonight.Last night Heidi came in the kitchen while I was eating and went under the table and lay on my feet😁.Not having any food until tonight, then roast chicken 😋😋😋

Roast chicken for us too Dave…hope it’s quiet for the animals tonight…

    X

Must make the Yorkshire pudding’s 😋😋😋😋😋

Enjoy your roast chicken both of you!
Dave- poor Heidi, no wonder she doesn’t like the fireworks! Our neighbours last dog was a rescue, some lads had tied a firework to her tail, so she hated the too, & kids…She wasn’t hurt, but badly scared.
Jean- hope you got everything done today…
We didn’t get much sleep again last night- youngest came in at 3am, Xena heard him & woke up barking… she did go back to sleep, then woke again at 4.30, barking, then she woke for good at 6am…
My sister popped in after Church, not to see us as much as Xena! They’re getting their puppy in 2 weeks, it’ll be lovely for Xena to play with him, I hope they get on! We went out to Aldeburgh again, it was lovely today, Xena was very good. Stopped off to show her some goats on the way home, she didn’t know what to make of it!

Dave…using the last two Yorkshire’s of my batch freezing…need more making when we get back…

Hedgehog….people are so cruel…Aldeburgh must have been so lovely and quiet, now the seasons over…lovely sisters pup is nearly here, hope they get on well, I am sure they will….
All jobs done..scraping the barrel with food…good job we are fasting tomorrow …

    Jean x

Just took Heidi out again and all was fine until she heard a bang in the distance, she then pulled me down the street and crossed over into the graveyard, very spooky in there when it’s dark, some of the tombstones look like people in the dark, she got in and ate all her food so that’s good, she is sat below my feet looking up at me now, pity we can’t add photos on here.Yorkshires are on now, feeling hungry after having nothing all day.

    Lovely dinner…ready to fast tomorrow…

Nothing planned will be kicking heals..lol

    Xx

Same here lovely dinner, don’t think I could freeze my Yorkshire puds there would be no room left in the freezer. They are about six inches across and three inches high.Fast day tomorrow.

    Dave…no wonder you are on 5.2 …those sizes…

I have two freezers!…we always have a pudd with every cooked dinner..😂..a good Yorkshire girl…..got my Lancashire lad in the same mode now…

    X

Denise heard that classical music is soothing for dogs so I said to Alexa play classical music and Heidi is out for the count, lots of noise outside but she is so peaceful 😁😁😁

    Evening everyone

Sorry I haven’t been around, it was my birthday last week so a bit of over indulgence. Tough this time of year, lots of birthdays (mine, Bec’s, nephew and brother-in-law) and would have been my Mum’s and father-in-law’s this month, as well as Mum and Phil’s anniversaries.

A few weeks and it’ll be behind us, but anticipating there may be quite a bit of comfort eating in the meantime. We’ll see.

Hope to get my blood test results tomorrow, think the thyroid is playing up, colder and more tired than usual, not to mention the weight. Came home from work one night and was in bed by 6pm for a couple of hours. With any luck my white blood cells will have sorted themselves out. If not I may see if I can get a referral to a specialist. May as well take advantage of the free private medical insurance through work, especially as the local Spire is a 5 minute walk from home, and about the same from work so no problem with parking or time off for appointments.

Sorry for the moan, I don’t usually worry, but a bit concerned about the bloods. I’ll have a word with myself.

Fireworks going off, 2 cats hidden away, dog and kitten sleeping through everything, neither of them have been the least bit bothered.

Jean, envious of you getting some winter sun. So glad Steve is feeling a bit better.

Will catch up properly with everyone tomorrow.

    Take care

    Lynne x

Lynne- thinking of you, a difficult time of year for you…hope that you can get something sorted with thyroid & your blood tests are okay. Great to have private treatment through work, definitely make the most of it!
Dave- you can get dog calming sounds on youtube, my son found it for Josie, it helped her unless in the middle of a big storm!
Jean- I guess you’ll have plenty to get done today for your holiday, keep your mind off food! Aldeburgh was really busy, it was such a lovely day, so plenty for Xena to see!
Hope everyone else had a good weekend!
Youngest son came home yesterday feeling grim, went to bed at 5pm! Hope he’s better today… I’m fighting a cold…
Fasting today, is it a mass Monday fast?

    Morning All..
    A dull day…

Supposed to be fasting…Steves in holiday mode…see how the day goes….

Going out and about today as most things done…Steve seems to think he wants a jumper, he doesn’t have one, never wears one ?? So off to have a look…things are in and out of case not really knowing what to pack..it’s cool for Cyprus but not really for us..when we went to India in February they had coats and scarves on, we were in shorts and tee shirts beautiful misty mornings, a wee bit chilly for a hour waiting for the sun to rise…

    Lynne..
A difficult time coming up for you all..it seems to have passed quite quickly possibly not for you…hoping your bloods get sorted out, nice you can go private it helps a lot and can move things on….I would get over this month and fasting can then start again…lots of anniversaries..

    Hedgehog…
Hope you keep all the bugs at bay…winter is arriving!..😬

Hope it’s not too noisy for the animals tonight…get this over then the run up to Christmas..

Have a good fast day everyone..

    Jean x

Morning all,I am going to take Heidi out now while it’s quite then I have to go for a scan on my heart, ultrasound, think it’s called an echo cardiogram. Its to see if I have an heart before Denise says it😁😁.Fast day today, speak later.

    Hi Everyone

I hope you had a nice weekend.

I am finally getting back to feeling normal. I was well and truly taken out by the flu last week so no fasting days for me as I felt awful

FD today and going to try and squeeze in another one or two this week to claw back from last week and then see what the scales say Friday. I didn’t weigh myself last Friday as I felt so terrible but line drawn and back on it today.

Hope everyone has a good day x

The good news is I do have an heart 💓💓she said it’s working well and can recover well from what happened to me.It was a very posh place,I was told to sit down help myself to a coffee if I wanted one,it was within sight of City’s ground. On my second cup of tea, will go out in a minute to but my dinner from Morrisons.Hope all the fasters are doing well.

KL- glad you’re back & better, hopefully a better week for you!
Dave- glad you have one! 💝
    Jean- I can’t believe Steve hasn’t got a jumper!
Youngest doesn’t look great but went to work, he says there’s no-one else to cover. Hope he puts a brave face on, not nice to think someone serving food is ill!
Pretty hungry today, so it might not be a liquid fast!

Doing fine up to now,not felt hungry at all.I bought a new jumper recently, always had one but very rarely wear one, now I am on blood thinners I feel the cold more.

    Afternoon All…
A Haddock and chip stop..so not fasting today, I just knew he was already in holiday mode…

No jumper bought, too thick, too hot, I just couldn’t wear that. !!!…so his light fleece in the washer…lol

Three tee shirts bought for me and three pairs of knickers..just topping things up..

    Dave….
Glad your ticker is working well 💓…you can get back in the working mode for Denise no slacking…

    Katie..
Sorry to hear you are not so well hope you are improving now…don’t over do the fasting…

    Hedgehog..
He just doesn’t do jumpers in short sleeves right through the year maybe long sleeved shirts in minus snow conditions…☃️

Hope your sons ok at work and not passing bugs about ..lol

    Keep strong everyone..

    Jean x

Feeling hungry now,not decided what to have yet.Got to go for another scan on the 20th of this month for an Aortic aneurisim, apparently it something they scan for when you read a certain age even though I am not 65 yet.It killed my mother so maybe they think it’s in the family.

    Hi all.
Nearly done with my nearly FD. Might be a little over, but essentially alright. Started out trying to meet one person who I know is usually in a coffee shop on Mondays to check he’s alright following up from surgery and ended up with 4 ‘meetings’ by the time I got to my desk 3 hours later. Then a planned home communion turned into another home visit. All in all, 8 miles walked, nothing written (which is alright cos I wrote Armistice service ages ago) and 6 important ‘people times’. Putting my feet up this evening.

Exciting times, Jean… Not where you wanted to go but glad you’ve got a surprise visit in the plan for next year.

Lynn – I can’t quite believe we’re already at Phil’s anniversary. Take care of yourself and have an extra sweater on hand wherever you go. Go comfort clothing first, then comfort talking/typing, then comfort eating. But most of all, go gently with yourself.

Difficult evenings for dogs – they have my sympathy, although I’ve noticed that one of the benefits for my old dog is that he’s not bothered any more. Old age or deafness – bit of both.

When he was young, we came back from holiday on 5th,and were calmly unpacking the car without really registering the date and bolted. Our estate was surrounded by woods and we and neighbours were out looking all over. Eventually I came home, phoned the police and stayed with the doors open, calling front and back, hoping he’d find his way.

The police phoned… ‘your dog has just walked into the manse’ they said. No he hasn’t, I said, I’m the minister and I’m in the manse!

Well a lady had just phoned who lived next to the church in the old manse. She’d opened the door to put the bin out and a grey wolf like dog had run in!

Turned out, he’d run all the way through the woods to the church, the old 17th century manse door opened by the artist who lived there and he ran in. Good job her partner wasn’t there as he didn’t like dogs. She had always wanted a dog. She later immortalised him in one of her paintings of a house in the woods with this dog running pell mell towards it! It sold at a show in London… My famous fearty dog!

    Mx

Heidi is under my feet again, she is going deaf but can still hear the fireworks.

    Evening everyone

Dave, glad the scan went well, reassuring after your recent fright. Looks like you’re booked in for a full MOT.

Minols, thanks for the kind suggestions, just too much free time at the moment with Hannah away and Bec working a few evenings each week. I’ll have to think what I can do to keep busy other than messing about with Excel.

Jean, sounds like you’re already in the holiday mood – well Steve anyway. You deserve a good break, it’s been a tough few months and so nice to hear that Steve’s pain is more manageable.

HH, hope your youngest made it through the day and hasn’t shared his bug with staff and customers.

KatieLouise, lots of bugs about at this time of year, hope you’re feeling better.

Pseudo, DF, hope you had a good weekend.

Blood results look okay, but GP still wants to chat. Thyroid up a bit so that may be why I’m feeling cold and tired, missed a couple of doses last month, have to make sure I’m back to taking it at night as it can be affected by lots of other things. Just realised I had the flu jab the day before my bloods, so I’d better mention that in case it’s thrown anything off.

Thanks for all the support, I really appreciate it. Phil’s anniversary is not until the end of the month, but November also the month when there’s lots of services remembering those who have passed away in the last year. Just bad timing for me.

Weather has been a bit miserable here, but at least it’s not as cold as last week when I thought I was going to have to go out any buy thermals. Jean, is there room for a stowaway in your suitcase?

    Lynne x

Can I come to Jean,I will be your guide 😁

    Dave..
It’s like a baby scan, they rub jelly across your belly…only men have it done…this is where Steve found his aneurysm from, it runs in his family too….he has to go every year….

Looks like I have a bus trip joining us, a guide would be nice 😀

    Minols…
You are always so busy…it’s nice you have planned in advance…

    Lynne..
It’s a shame the girls are not about when you need to be busy…we are hoping to find warmer weather, you would be welcome to join us…hope the doctors chat brings up something to help you…

    Jean x

Weather is supposed to be nice next week in Cyprus,so that’s good. I had jelly rubbed on my chest today,I changed the time and place for my scan,It was near the O2 arena (Appolo)at 8-45do changed it to Levenshulme at 11-50 so traffic will be much better at that time.

Minols- sounds like a very hectic day, you did well to stay strong with all the visits, & lots of walking too! Loved the doggy tale, a famous doggy!
Lynne- hope you get some answers from the doctor. I can recommend Wordstack game to keep your mind busy…but the holiday with Jean would be much more fun! How’s the kitten getting on?
Jean- hope you have a great trip! Naughty Steve…no good moaning when you get home & pounds have gone back on! You deserve it tough, so enjoy yourselves!
Dave- hope there’s nothing to be seen with the ultrasound scan…more tests…
    KL- how’s it been today?
Pseudo- where are you? Busy with coursework?
No food for me- I didn’t feel too hungry earlier! Catching up on some jobs & we took Xena out to a park, used the 30″ training lead we have to work on recall- she did well but there weren’t any distractions! Youngest has come home from work says he feels fine- had dinner & went straight out!
Eldest is off most of the week again, so constant cooking again- he asked for donuts today in the donut maker, so they don’t make my mouth water too much!

It’s just a scan for men, Women have at least two that I know of,so it’s just a precautionary thing.Never had it done before.Heidi is really bad tonight, but seems to be settling down now.

Morning all! Woke early this morning, but was cheered by the news saying women who wake early are less likely to get breast cancer, so at least there’s some benefits!!
Dave- poor Heidi, I hope she was able to get some sleep…Xena didn’t notice the ones last night, she was only bothered when she was in the garden & some went off, thankfully.
Jean- happy holidays! Do you know if you have wifi at the hotel? Hope the flight’s okay for Steve…
Minols- hope you have a quieter day…
Lynne- are your work colleagues nice at the new place? Hope your animals weren’t too scared last night too.
    KL- did you fast yesterday?
Taking Xena to puppy class today, we’ve missed 3 Tuesdays with her tummy upset, she’ll be pleased to go back!

    Hi All.
HH – it is good news, isn’t it! Trouble sleeping and had just given up and got up to check a sewing issue I have with current patchwork and the boy came down. He set his alarm for 5.45 to have a better stab at chess. Good game today.

Fortunately a quiet evening so even If the day is busy, I have that to look forward to.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Mx

    Morning All..
A very misty start this morning…

Disappointed we didn’t fast yesterday, I could of said no to Haddock and chips and pulled Steve back..but I didn’t, naughty really…

Having a quiet cuppa before shower…off about 10am / 10.30 no rush really about a 3 hour drive to Luton…flying at 8.45 in the morning we can walk from the hotel to airport 🤞..a 5.30 alarm…

It would be fun to all get together on holiday who would be the first to break into the food/ drink 😂

    Dave…
It’s nice you can shift appointments around to suit traffic…your area is so busy and bad….they won’t do a scan for me…

    Hedgehog..
Enjoy your puppy class glad she has passed the ‘bug’??..you are brave cooking donuts, I have only made them once at school…we do have WiFi but just in the lobby, hoping my phone picks it up as we can use it in Europe now, first time for us so don’t know how good it will be.

    Minols..
Early bird for both of you…chess at that time???……patch work quilt is it for the piano or another??

    Lynne..
Good luck on your doctors chat..

    Katie..
    Hope you are feeling better..

    Pseu..
A bit quiet are you ok?

    Claire..
Come on back and let’s help you get back on the journey..

    Cakey..
A busy bee and maybe away on travels…keep in touch…

    DL, Kay, Hemmy,
Hope you are all OK too…sorry if I have missed anyone…

Hope to pass by if I can, hopefully to catch up on everyone and to post….have a good week all..

    Jean x

Claire said she is fed up and depressed, since her husband had the car crash they have not had a car, when he got this newest car the insurance was not swapped over.it was only third party,so there is over £2500 of damage which they can’t afford to pay so they are paying for a car that they can use anymore,it was going to a car auction and he is paying an agreed amount each month.Jean what time is your flight? Does it take the same time from Luton?4.5. Hours from Manchester.Warm and sunny here today,no health appointments for a couple of weeks apart from rehab tomorrow.

Oh Dave… What a nightmare for Claire. So frustrating.

JEAN… it’s not a matter of who would break – i’d come with food in my suitcase!

And the quilt is still the piano one. Hitting a snag in putting the arcs and melons together… Not impressed with how much I’m going to have to ease every wretched one… All 124 melons and 248 arcs – grrrrrr!

It gets worst Claire just told me their MOT ran out two days before the accident so their insurance cancelled the policy which means unless she can find video footage of the crash they will have to pay all cost incurred to both cars, she could end up losing her house.

Dave- really sorry for Claire, that sounds awful…maybe some CCTV in the area, or any witnesses? Hope they can get it sorted out.
Jean- hope Luton is better than when I had to go there in the summer- they were rebuilding all the car park & front, it wasn’t very well sign posted, good that you can walk from the hotel.
Minols- my poor brain couldn’t do chess at that time of the morning, hats off to you!
The dog trainer says we need to take Xena back, says she’s not a true Labrador- he did an ‘alley of temptation’ – cones in a lane with biscuits & toys on them- you had to make the dogs stay then call them between the cones, he wanted to see if the dogs would come or be tempted, our little puppy was a star & went to hubby every time! She was worn out after the class, so weeded the gravel drive while she was asleep, it was lovely & sunny, but ache now!

She has asked the council for CCTV,she is waiting for a reply.

    Evening All..
All settled in at the hotel.. very impressed lovely new and refreshed decorations.. the rooms really comfy and a 10 min walk to airport even for Steve..breakfast included but will have to be quick at 6 am away for 6.45..

    Dave ..
Such problems for Claire third party isn’t good and missing getting her MOT is a nightmare .. was it your SILs fault or the other driver..

    Hedgehog..
What does she mean she’s not a lab?? As if you would exchange her..

Outside jobs done always seems good at the time.. hope the ache goes..
Lots of work being done at the airport but doesn’t effect us..

We have had a lovely evening the meal choices wasn’t good but we did enjoy it, a couple of wines too..
Back in room for early night.. wish I could watch the American elections I find it interesting.. shame really..

    Jean x

She doesn’t even have third party the insurance firm cancelled their policy because mot was out of date by 2 days,it was other drivers fault.I can’t stand politics so definitely won’t be watching it.Chicken fillet and baked potato for dinner, doesn’t feel right calling it dinner, should be tea where I come from😁.Have a safe flight and enjoy Cyprus it’s my favourite place on earth.

    Morning all!
Jean- have a good flight & trip…The dog trainer meant it as a joke, because she resisted all his food! Labs are not renowned for restraint!
Dave- give Claire a hug from us…
I managed a low day yesterday, no picking which I’m terrible for when I cook, FD for me today. Anyone joining me?

Very impressed with Xena – maybe you should hire her out to train us!
