  • Good morning all.
Very wet here today but no wind.

Woke up this morning feeling more positive and I’m determined to get my 2 FD in this week now.

Thanks all for your supportive words, it helps lots.

    Vi
Welcome to our forum. I have evolved to turn to comfort eating from many miserable years. Although I’m aware of my problem the urges are very difficult to control especially at this time in my life and relationship. The 5:2 has been the easiest way I’ve found of losing weight after being on some diet most of my adult life. Now is for me but sometimes negative thought fill my head. No matter Ill get back on track. It takes a couple of weeks to get into it the 5:2 but it does get easier.
I hope you have success on this journey with us. For some reason Vi I get your posts multiple when you post something. ??

Off to pick up our daughters new car.

Hey Cmum, I had the double posting problem too, yesterday. So far today everything is normal. I don’t know why this is the case, either. Good that the4 5; 2 works for you. As far as negative thoughts go; my niece always says; don’t feed the monster. I think we all stuggle to some degree with what you’re dealing with. You are not alone =)

    Hi Vi

Thanks, yes I am proud but like most In a quiet way. Ian is Audreys other half. You need to weigh the potato and then work out calories on my fitness pal, they are diffucilt to guess at, but quite a few calories, too much for me for a fast day.

    Good luck for today.

    Hi Jean

Yes, nice to catch up. Glad it was food in transit, I am showing 2lbs up although I know I am back to retaining water, I haven’t really eaten past my allowance so I am not too worried.

    Hi Audrey

Glad your awning stood up to it. I hope you get your leggings, nice to find something really comfortable.

I can see that there are posts over the page so I may be back.

    Hi CMum

Right down the bottom of the page there is also a link to the tech. He is really helpful and gets back quickly.

I’m glad you are in a more positive mood. We all get those bad times, banish them away and just think of your supporters on here. Xx

    Audrey..

Glad everything was ok it does get a worry sometimes. We have the same awning as you we like it just a nice size for two.

Good luck on the shopping hope the leggings are still there.

    Ginette..
These goods in transit are a nightmare, hope it’s you holding on to water. Nice chatting..X

    Vi..
Hope your FD goes well for you. I find it a bit hard mid afternoon a bit hungry but I have a coffee and it passes.

I have had a fruit breakfast, blueberries, strawberries and 6 cherries…a bit short on fruit this morning my Melon is still hard and I forgot to cut my grapefruit, I like it out the fridge, I usually have half 4 times a week.

Tonight we are having a two egg ham omelette, a tiny bit of cheese, onions, mushrooms and green salad.

I think on the other post you was doing more than two fasts a week. That can be quite hard at the beginning I would just start doing two a week to start with. (Sorry if I have got that wrong.) later as it gets easier you can add more in if you want too. We sometimes throw a 800 calorie day in as well as the two 500 FD s. We find that helps and not so hard.

    Cmum..
Glad you are feeling much better today. You are stronger and you are looking slimmer, you are doing great. X

Grass cutting day today and car wash, trying to keep busy…looks like I have my helper back, he is much better now..he needs some calories burning like me..lol..lol

    Jean x

    Hi Jean

Yes, I am short on fruit like you, I need yo go to the shops to top up.

Glad you are keeping busy and that Steve is well enough to be back on light duties.

    Ginette..
    We crossed posts..

We have just had a look around our new Lidl, it’s really nice. Nearly fell at the hurdle, croissants and bit and pieces free at door as tasters….I was looking then I said cant it’s a FD ….hope it’s all about Saturday when we are back and I can have a pick..lol

I forgot to get more fruit.

    Have a good day..
    Xx

    Hi Symba
Yes. I am doing 4 FD a week. Maybe next week I will do three. I am just having a difficult day. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow!
Thanks for the tip on the 800 calorie day though.
Hope you all have a good day
    x

    Hi vi

Do you mind if I ask why are you doing 4 fasts a week? I thought you had just started 52? It’s no wonder you are struggling trying to do 4 fasts a week I did alternate days for a month and that was extremely difficult to do and I had been fasting for over a year when I tried that. ..

I am back from shopping I managed to get some leggings. Change of meal now are having sausage and mash!

    Have a good day all
    Off to cut grass now!
    Audrey

    Hey Audrey

While it’s true that I just started this week, I’ve been on Modifast (where you have 500 cal every day) for five weeks, but I didn’t loose enough. I do 4 FD’s because I’m in an electric wheelchair, which basically means no movement whatsoever and I’m affraid I won’t loose anything otherwise.
So do they look good? =)
I thought things like bangers were a big no-no on FD’s? Anyway- enjoy!
    x

    Hi vi

Heck sausage are made from chicken, very lean only 72 kcals for 2 sausage but they are very tasty.

I haven’t cut anything out my diet, I still eat carbs and sugar, I enjoy butter not margarine!

    I am a rebel hehe lol 😀

    Audrey

    Good for you! I’m a real follower….
    *sigh*

    Audrey..
Glad you was lucky to get the leggings, what colour have you gone for…..you sound like me if it fits I buy three …a standing joke in the house.

I have got our grass cut back and front, Steve did the strimming. We had a quick rain shower then been out and got the car done between us.

Steve got some excerises from the physio this morning then see him again in a month. I will be giving him more jobs I will get him moving..lol..lol and swimming can start but we have to get our head around starting….just thinking at the moment..

    Enjoy bangers and mash tonight.

Bought a £2.99 Spiral cutter (3 in a box) from Lidl…thought I might do some baked potato spirals tonight to go with my omelette…I have 100 calories spare, you might get a lot for your money!! Let you know how it goes.

    Jean x

    Hi Jean

Well done for avoiding the things you shouldn’t, halo must be well and truly shining.

Cutters sound interesting. I think I’m having baked potato tonight as I need to use them up. I have them so rarely, nice for a treat.

I’m still thinking about those Magnums!!

I’m like you if I find something I like I tend to buy two of them.

    Hi Vi

Like Audrey, I think so many fast days may be a problem, I think it will can be counter productive to your weight loss. If you want to eat low calorie look up the blood sugar diet, this seems to work well for people. KT who pops in occasionally has had great success on this.

    Hi Audrey

That is just what I had yesterday. I may have them with my baked potato tonight. Have you tried the other ones the green pack and the paprika, there are more calories but still quite low. The green one has watercress in it. I bought some but the went strange before the use by date so I can’t give you an opinion on them.

Like you I don’t cut our foods, I just cut them down.

    Evening all.
FD going well. I feel back on track today.

My repeated posts are from the usual people that post on this thread. Its just that I sometimes get each one several times.

Will try the Heck sausages as they are also gluten free.

    Vi
I buy the frozen baked potatoes as they’re not to big. You get 4 in a box and the calories are already counted.
Thanks also for your wise words. I know all these things really but sometimes I feel I’m in a room with no doors.

    Hi CMum

Glad you are back on track. I have just been out to top up on fruit, never shop when you are hungry…..I got things I shouldn’t have, as well.

    Cmum…
The forum knows about the double posting lots of complaints and are looking into it…so no worries.

Glad your day went well, we have been OK also in at about 550 calories today a bit over for me.

I could be in a real busy room everybody talking but on my own…I could see all the mouths talking but I was one step away from them all….. It’s strange….glad I don’t have that now..

    Xx

Spiral went well a bit of practice needed, I will give it another try…lol

    X

    Symba
    Thanks for the info.
My FD went well also. 3 cals over for me. Still have to get another FD in this week.
Yes I know what its like to feel alone in the company of people. Sometimes I feel I’m amongst deaf ears. I get humoured a lot which is really annoying. No matter, I’m changing my life slowly.

Off to bed and will see if Paul Mckenna can get me to sleep.

    Good night all.

    Hey everybody

Glad to know your respective FD went well. Mine not so much, I didn’t go over or anything, but I kept dry-heaving from hunger (it’s a disability thing), but today is a normal day, so yay. I’m having crackers now and tortilla-pizza’s for tonight.

@Cmum Glad you’re doing better. I’ve never seen potatoes like that, but then I live in Holland 😛 I can also feel very isolated at times, you are not alone. And if it gets too bad, just vent here

    @Symba
How did the spiralcutter work out? If you ever do courgetti, please tell me if you cooked it (like regular pasta) or wokked it?

    Morning all

We went for a lovely evening walk yesterday round the river to the beach at Abberfraw the dogs loved it and I ended the day at over 20,000 steps…

Non fast day for me today

Hope you are all doing ok

Back later got up dash off sorry

    Audrey

Audrey, That’s quite a lot of steps. The beach, that’ sounds wonderful. Have a good day

    Morning All,

A bright day here this morning. House work day for us well a couple of hours, downstairs…up stairs tomorrow..

Steve lost 1 lb today, I have stayed the same…that’s good considering the weekend birthday bash. I was up 3 lbs in the week so I have pulled back.

We are going to have to keep mindful while away in the caravan and remember the scales for Friday. We leave on Monday morning.

    Audrey..
The walk sounded lovely on the beach…and 20,000 steps that’s amazing…I have never got to that many.

Hoping the Birthday weekend goes well for you with family and friends, you will be getting organised today for it. I struggle if too many come to the caravan it’s the small place to do things. BBQ I bit easier.

    Vi..
Glad we all had good FD s. It’s getting over the hunger pangs. The spiral cutter is basic but it worked, nice for carrots and cucumber…I don’t like courgettes ….the potatoes worked well, got loads for a small potato.

Cooking butter chicken curry tonight a new recipe for me, I had a lovely one in India…hoping it’s half as good..lol..lol

    Ginette..Cmum….
Hoping you both feel relaxed after sleeping with Paul. We sound as if all back on track now..

    Speak later

    Jean x

Hey Simba. Good that your husband lost some weight, and you stayed on course. I’m getting a spiralcutter, too. Not that I can use it myself, but I thought it might help with my vegetable intake, which has been not so great. When was your birthday and can i ask how old you are? Curry sounds good, I hope it tastes wonderful
    x

    Hi all

Quick post before the family start to arrive…

We have been shopping a managed a walk 3.9 miles… Ian said to tell you all he is my personal trainer LOL 😊. He is certainly making me walk fast…

Will be in touch as and when I can from now until Tuesday when they have all gone…

Jean have a lovely week away.

    Love to all

    Audrey

    Vi..
The birthday bash was a surprise for the step D, she lives about 5 hours away from us but we turned up at the hotel and stayed the weekend with her. She just thought she was there for a spa and relaxing weekend with her friend. We hid the car so she didn’t see it and got there before she did. It was a lovely two days.

My birthday is 21st April, I was 67, I think I might be the oldest on our forum but I feel about 40. I have arthritis in my toes so sometimes it’s hard walking for two or three days then it gets quite swollen, painful and stiff….then I get up and I am fine and its disappeared ….it’s strange.

    Just thinking Steve’s birthday 10th February he is 67 also….so he’s older than me…lol..lol

I do try and walk, as the saying goes use it or loose it…but it is hard sometimes. Audrey does so well to get her 20,000 steps in.

    Audrey..
I would love a personel trainer, to get out and motivated. Steve walks so slow….🐌…have a great weekend.

I have no phone or tv signal as I said before but will book in when out of the village and out and about. Just short and sweet as on phone and not the iPad.

    Ginette..
Are you a busy bee today…shopping for fruit..lol

    Cmum..
You are getting strong and changing your life, that’s really good. We are individuals and people should see us as that. Just bide your time until it’s time to change…if you want too…

    Have a good weekend all

    Jean X

    Hey Symba

Wow, that was such a nice thing to do. I bet you had a lot of fun. Age is just a number, right? If you feel good, more power to ya!
As long as those symptoms disappear.. it’s all good. Just don’t push yourself too far.
Move it or don’t loose it, as the case might be here 😛
    Have a nice weekend
    x

    Vi..
You too have a good weekend.

    Xx

    Hi All,

My lovely Murgh Makhani ( Butter Chicken Curry) from North India…..it went really well, just about the same as I had in India.

If I had it in a restaurant …I would be pleased to pay for it.

This is from someone who last year couldn’t eat a curry!!!

    Ginette…
Is all well with you…you are missed…everything ok…

    Xxx

Just made my 10,000 steps…thanks Aundrey you made me feel guilty..lol…lo

    Xx

    Hi Jean

Had a call earlier to tell me that an elderly relative had passed away. Sad but I think she was about 97 and hadn’t recognised anybody for years.

All the bad things that I bought I have eaten, I know I can’t have them in the house…..why did I get tempted, this has sent me off track and I haven’t been at all good this week.

Why on earth do we have weeks like this? …..the good news is I still have the fruit!!

You are as young as you feel. 🙂

    Hi Audrey

You sound well on track again and a personal trainer as well, send him down south for a bit will you!! I need some motivating. Xx

    Morning All,

A beautiful blue sky this morning, it does make you feel good.

Up nice and early…strange how the Olympics make you (us) feel…I have had 45 mins of it this morning, with three bits of news….TV now off and radio on. Last time it was on in London we was in France for three weeks holiday…missed the lot!

I am so looking forward to no TV next week….but will miss the forum unless we have wifi..😀

    Ginette..
Sorry on your bad news, at 97 he had a good life, it’s sad when they don’t recognise people.

Thing is you start eating naughty things and I think you put anything you find in your mouth!!! At least hope they are all gone.

We had our day off yesterday, a couple of sweet things, a couple of wines, Steve a beer and a lovely Indian meal. So low day for us which I don’t mind and I quite enjoy…not a lot of cooking 😀

    Audrey..
Looks like Ginette and myself are going to get into an argument over Ian….can you do a rota and include yourself…..we all want a personel trainer. I would like a chef / nutritionist if you know of anyone? or gaffer tape 😂

Lovely day for a BBQ …enjoy your day.

Hope every body else is fine, hope the campers are enjoying them selves and the weather keeping good for you.

    Have a good weekend

    Jean X

New to this….. Done one fast day, and two normal.
Ohh My name is nina 43, 5 ft 4 and my day off intake is 2146 calories. I just can’t eat that amount of food tbh am just getting past 1700 at end of day.
    Anyone else has this issue?

    Nina..
    Welcome to our corner.

It takes a couple of weeks to get into fasting then it gets easier.

I don’t do anywhere near my TDEE only on special days or very rarely or if I am having a naughty day 😬

I keep to about 1200 / 1300 calories on a NFD. I only have 11 lbs more to loose..I have lost 24 lbs up to now over 7 months. A slow journey but it’s a way of life not a diet.

It depends how much you have to loose, if you have a lot to loose it would be a bit higher.

    Jean x

Hi, Nina, I’m new too! Welcome. My first FD was on monday. As I understand it, the best way to loose weight is to calculate your TDEE for your goal weight, and eat to that on normal days. Mine is 1500 and I’m having a difficult time reaching that, too

    @ Symba
Nice to know your curry was good! What are you having today?

    @ Ginette
Sorry about your loss, it’s always sad even if they were a shadow of who they used to be

    @audrey
Sound like your really in luck with your hubby

It’s a real miserable sort of day here. Raining and so dark that I just put a light on. It’s summer guys. What is this!
Hope everyone has a nice day
    x Vi

    Morning.
Not sure if any off you guys can help my calorie intake for days off fast is 2146, I find it hard to consume these ?
    Anyone else the same?

    Hi CMum

Missed your post last night. I was quite tired and just did a quick post when I came in. The amount of calories you went over is good. I don’t really need to count mine as closely any more as I have been doing it for so long now. I normally am quite good but like others I fall by the wayside every one ce in a while and then need to get back to basics.

    Hi Vi

Thanks, I hadn’t seen them in years when the were well and chose not to when she had lost her memory as it wouldn’t have made any difference to her and she was in a home being well cared for.

    Hi Jean

The olympics isn’t for me, I am pleased for those who like it but I don’t enjoy it. As long as it gets you out walking though that is good. I hope there isn’t too much trouble there. I heard last night that two people have failed tests.

Take some good books with you. Catch up on other things and just relax, we will really miss you. 🙁

    Hi Nini

I wouldn’t worry too much on whether or not you reach it. If you have used the tracker on this site then I have always found this too high. It does for total daily energy expenditure. So if you kept at this every day you wouldn’t lose weight. It is based on many things height and activity levels count for a lot.

Try my fitness pal, set up your goal of how much you want to lose every week and that will give you a more realistic calorie allowance. This is available online or on an app.

It is difficult to reach a high calorie level if you like treats of a drink or eat o lot of carbohydrate based foods, this includes normal fizzy drinks, I have never been hooked on fizzy drinks low or otherwise, I haven’t had any this year and possibly not last year either. Convenience foods are also not good in many ways.

You will probably see a pattern on what foods you like.

    Good luck.

    Hi all

Family have arrived safely for my birthday bash. ..

Off our for a meal tonight. Sorry about your loss ginette. ..

    Will post again tomorrow

Hope you are all having a great weekend

    Audrey

    Hi All,

Been out and about today looking at second hand motorbikes, Steve wanted a change…he found one so he’s happy. Collect when we come back of holiday.

Coming back to the house we have left two large downstairs windows at the front of the house wide open…open for about 7 hours!!…age ! Alls well.

We went out for lunch spent a Tesco voucher so good cheap deal…gammon, egg, pineapple with a few chips and a Guinness for me…coming in at 700 cal for the day ( with fruit for breakfast) so pretty good so far. It was a late lunch so not much more to eat tonight.

    Ginette..
I have loads of books my sister brings them by the cart load!!, maybe I will take three or so with me and try to clear my shelf a bit.

Hoping to get a bit of excerise in also.. Nice to be missed 😀

Have a lovely evening with Pam tonight…hope there’s some thought in the food for you.

    Jean X

Just a quick wave as I have some some data signal but still no wifi!

I started off the week reasonably ok being mindful but have lost the plot now! And no scales to keep myself in check! Ah well I will be back on track again soon.

Have had a very busy week and now the weather is better I am out being much more active than normal!
Not had chance to read all the posts and catch up so hope everyone is ok. All being well I will be back on wifi when I arrive at my mums on Wednesday 🙂

Kay…join the rest of us…we have all lost the plot….all being good now…😇

    Lovely to hear from you
    X

    HI Girls
Still not feeling great so just a quick pop in to say hello 🙂

Glad everyone seems to be OK even if we’re all on the naughty stair for eating too much! We’ll get back on track eventually I’m sure.

Hi Nina and Welcome. Just to let you know that your TDEE is the MAXIMUM amount you can eat, not the minumum, so you certainly DON’T need to eat that amount. 🙂 It does seem a high number and I agree with Ginette about using ‘my fitness pal’ which allows you to say how much a week you wish to lose and input what level of activity you do… mine’s Sendentary so much lower level of TDEE!

    Take care everyone XX

    Hi Audrey

    Enjoy your company.

    Hi Jean

That was good, not a good start to your time away if you had anyone get into the house. Good that Steve is well enough to think about his bike. Dinner was ok at Pams not too bad, I undid it all when I came home and called in at my neighbours. I left the ice cream I had just bought out of the freezer, it was a litre block. It was so sift it wouldn’t have frizen again so my nigh out and I shared what was left between us.

    Oh dear……..

….and I did Pams hair and it is a nice lilac colour!!! It was meant to be ash blonde. A cross between Mrs Slocome and Phyllis in Coronation St. She says it is OK, I don’t think so……..

    Hi Kay

I really hope the exercise is helping the weight loss. Don’t worry about posts catch up when you are back.

    Hi Coffee

Sorry you are still unwell, it has been dragging on, do you need to see a doctor?

See you all tomorrow, off to bed now although I’m not tired…..

    Hi all

I am ok just very busy with family.

My friend arrives today so it’s Sunday lunch out….

Had a lovely meal out last night but feeling very bloated and fat not going near the scales LOL 😆.

Have a happy and peaceful Sunday everyone

    Audrey

    Hi All,

A lovely day today, looks like it’s getting colder next week for our holiday but never mind.

Just getting things together today and a bit of food shopping, maybe a sit out later and have a read.

I managed my 10,000 steps again yesterday and had my 30 min walk with Steve so we are trying.

    Ginette…
You are as bad as us with leaving the ice cream out of the freezer…age..glad you could eat some of it.

Maybe if Pams hair is washed again it may lighten a bit…it does over time. Could you put another colour on top I don’t know if you could it could go green! ..lol

I know when I start swimming mine has green tinges if I don’t get the chlorine out…

    Coffee…
Sorry you are still not feeling well, just take it easy fasting can wait till you feel better. Have you been to the doctor?

    Kay..
You sound very busy and active…enjoy rest of holiday

    Minols..
Hope the camping is going well with the family and you are feeling relaxed.

    Vi, Nini..
Hope you are both getting it together….keep popping in for ant support needed.

    Audrey…
Enjoy your busy weekend….AFD looks on the cards next week…you can soon get the weight off no worries. Just enjoy family and friends only once a year..lol..lol

    Jean x

    Hi Audrey

Have a lovely day and I think I may be joining you in avoiding the scales!!

    Hi Jean

I hope it doesn’t get too cold. Today is nicer weather for me I may mow the lawn. Glad you have plenty of books. I have a real book to read, written by my sister in law in Canada. I shall have to read it soon as she is waiting for my comments.

Pam washes her hair most days so I shall see how it looks today and what she thinks of it.

You and Steve are certainly trying harder than I am, well done.

    Hey everybody

Today it’s actually sunny! Who would have thought. How are you guys doing?

    @ginette
Ha! Your story made me laugh. I’m getting a real “Beauty school drop out”vibe, you know from Grease?

@jean, good that you’re getting your steps in. Here, it’s seems to be getting colder next week as well. Hopefully it won’t be too bad

@ Audrey. Hope you had a nice birthday

Can I ask for some advice? According to MyfitnessPal I’m only alloted 1200 calories a day, and the book as well as the docu said that you have to quarter your calorific intake, so should I do 300 cal on my FDs?
And…. is it really beneficial to leave as large a gap between your meals. I normaloly get out of bed by 9.00 and eat at 17.30 again(oh and usually lunch at 14.00). On my FD’s I’ve been getting up at 7.30 and eating at seven, but my body really needs the rest/sleep) What do you guys think?

    x Vi

    Vi,

Just keep to 500 calories on a FD that’s what the book says, as you are getting nearer to your goal weight some people lower it but I don’t think you have to do that unless you really want too.

I would just continue as you normally do as its a way of life.

We eat at 9am, then at 12.30 then at about 5.15. On a FD day we miss lunch out…some people have 500 calories at one meal normally in the evening but we can’t do that.

MFP puts everybody on 1200 calories and it panics on a FD on 500… Just use it as a guide but don’t go over your TDEE keep well under. Look on the forum and check other web sites for what you should be, for your height and weight, they do vary a bit…remember as you loose weight it will become lower so remember to check it.

It’s beneficial to close your food gap between meals and leave it longer in your sleeping mode on either side of eating.

    Hope that makes sense

    Jean x

    Ginette..

Hope the hairs a better colour after a wash…it seems she’s not bothered though…it would be a nightmare to me..lol

Interesting about your sister in laws book, you will have to tell me me if it’s a good one after you have read it.

It’s lovely here but very windy, we have all the outside windows and doors open lovely and airy…hope you get the grass cut.

    Have a good day.

    Jean x

Hey Jean, so I’m kind of fuzzy about that last point. Do you mean that you have to stop eating for as long as possible before you go to bed, and after you get out of bed?
    Thanks, by the way

It’s very windy here too, and raining. Again. lol

    Vi….

If you have dinner at 5 pm say Sunday you start fasting until breakfast Monday at 9 am ( 16 hours without food) then if you eat dinner again at 5 pm until 9am breakfast Tuesday ( again 16 hours without food) that’s when the magic happens, your body goes into repair mode and loosing weight! Then it’s a normal eating day.

If you eat say 10 am then 4 pm on a fasting day your window grows to 17 hours each side which would be better.

If you have one meal on a fast day it is even better…but I find that too hard for us.

You can have your drinks and water but no food in that window.

Is that better to understand it’s hard to explain.

    Xx
