  • I,m a real newbie to this regime and though no fault of my own didn’t get off to good start. Day two of the diet and my first fast day I go down with bad tonsillitis. To be honest It totally wiped out my appetite but one friend trying to be helpful informed not to impose a diet on your body when your ill, try to eat something as your body needs all the help it can get. To be honest I was more concerned by the psychological effects of being ill and very fed up as a result. My solution and calorie intake for the Day a large Whisky and desert spoon of Honey. That really was a doctors advice, I wonder how many calories in that…………???

Seriously, Is there any perceived wisdom on the subject.

    Help much appreciated

I would say that if you have lost your appetite your body is telling you not to eat – as long as you’re sufficiently hydrated I don’t believe it will do any harm and may well help with the healing process. If your body is not having to deal with digestion it will put more effort into fighting the bugs.
    I’m NOT a doctor though!

Don’t fast when you’re ill, I’m sure Dr Mosley says that in the book. Give your body a chance to restore itself then get back to fasting. xx
