can anyone explain calories! on the packets it’s in kcal, is this the same as a calorie. thanks

If you want to be really picky, on the packet it is “kilo-calories”. They refer here to calories with a lower-case “c”. 1000 calories = 1 kilo-calorie. And now it comes: there is also a Calorie with capital “C”, and 1 Calorie = 1 kilo-calorie = 1000 calories. So when we talk about calories, we actually mean Calories. And this is all utterly confusing.
I think they use kcal because it is the more ‘official’ way of describing energy, beside kilo-Joule (kJ) being the actual standard way now.
In short, Annette is right, albeit kcal is the same as Calorie not calorie. 😉
