  • It is so nice to wake up and read all these positive messages from everyone!
I am going to try the bacon in the cauliflower,it sounds good. I baulked a bit at the price the other day but figured I should buy it anyway. I have visions of it becoming the new veg of the decade!

Brussel sprouts aren’t very popular here. I love them but my husband won’t eat them. The first time I cooked them for him, I ended up having to give his portion to the dog many years ago. I couldn’t believe it when even the dog refused to eat them and my husband had the last laugh!

Many years later I found out that it is an evolutionary thing and that many people do taste them as far more bitter than some other people!

I celebrated my success down to the 60’s with ice cream and fresh passionfruit last night. Mainly because it is my favourite way to enjoy passionfruit and they were $1.50 each so didn’t want to waste them.

Couldn’t resist the scales this morning though with trepidation as it would be easy to fluctuate up to 70 again for a zillion reasons as you all know but fortunately still the same.
    Have a good day all!

Am I going nuts or is it not the 14 Feb today. Oh just a thought, it’s still probably 13th in the UK and Belgium for Flemmy.
We have just had a monster thunderstorm with torrential rain. Water came pouring into our lounge room through a recently installed reverse cycle aircon unit. Beach towels all over the carpet mopping it up and hubby and I out in the pouring rain lashing a tarp to the outside unit. Not happy and will be onto the mob who installed it first thing on Monday.
Foxy Coxy re the constipation thing. I have a spastic colon and often have the dreaded C problems, especially with a change of routine. I think the 5:2, with low food intake on FDs slows down peristalsis. I’m hopeful things will improve over time. Im not going to be deterred. Yes I too always take a plastic bag with me when taking my dog for a walk. It’s attached to the lead so always available.
Country Gal. Good oh that you had a good nights sleep. It does make a big difference doesn’t it.
No more now. I’m hoping for more rain to top up the tanks ( not on town water) but no more torrential downpours.

Doggy what a shame and how frustrating….did your carpet get wet, it stinks doesn’t it? Yes great to wake up after a nice sleep. Thinking if you yesterday, did you get your puppy yet? I’ve got a big pot of peach chutney simmering away, tastes beautiful but haven’t got a clue what I’ve put in it, just kept adding but it’s worked out to a lovely flavour, so will be putting into jars this arvo, it’s lovely with meat or chicken or on a sandwich (oh bread…I still remember How I loved it) hope your day gets better….CG xx

Good morning all. Down another 200g today so if I can keep the weekend together looking for a good number. As you can see Im a bit addicted to my scales.a lifetime of habit is hard to change. Heading over to our daughter’s today to help them prepare a house for sale & they’re taking us out to lunch for my birthday nxt week. So need to be careful what I choose! Fun to look after 4 grandies for them while they work.
Have to agree great to see so many positive encouraging uplifting posts on AD. You guys rock! !! Have a great day all.
Uptight what a great way to
Uptifht I agree about the cauli rice and bacon yumm but agree eith yr hubby re brussel sprouts ugh!
Better finish now as trying to do all this on my mobile is not easy so scuse the typos. Suejen

Almost lunchtime here in the West. Boiled eggs ready for me and to make my husband mashed egg n salad sandwich on Rye. Just love egg salad on rye and my good intentions just went out the window, haven’t had one in ages (slight exaggeration but you get what I mean) so egg salad sandwich here I come! I’ve decided husband holidays have whiskers on them, guess I’m ready for that back-to-work freedom from thinking about someone else at all meals – not to mention afternoon teas etc.

Weigh in yesterday managed my regular 300gr loss and am grateful at least it was a loss. Need to get into some exercise, even if it is just back to normal housework!

Have a really sore leg the past couple of days due to severe cramping during sleep Thursday night, anyone else having cramping probs? Took 2 Magnesium complex tabs last night and though sore, got through the night without foot/leg cramps. Haven’t had this before to know what to do. Have a good weekend everyone, encouraging to read all the posts.

CG glad you finally got some sleep, bit of a worry when you live alone, apart from your four legged friends of course.

Flemmo, good to see you are recovering, nothing more debilitating than fevers etc. 🙂

YumYum enjoy your sandwich, it’s not a fast day so you can have it. I agree, I love ’em too. As I rarely go near my TDEE I wonder if that is what has bought on my plateau because if my normal days are low it really negates my 500 on fast days. All guess work but fasting today, going ok so far, thought I’d struggle being an off day but so far so good. Pet feeding time now, then chicken breast and curried cauli salad, still plenty of cals left over for my milky espresso tonight before bed…CG xx

CG it’s quite possible that you are not eating enough to make a difference when you do drop the cals. Interesting thought. Enjoy your espresso…xx

Hi everybody – been a week or so since I dropped in to see how you all are going. So I have now lost 3.9kg in 4 weeks which I am happy with but it would have been nice to have made the 4kg. Oh well. And it is happy birthday today for me – Valentines comes in second in this house today. Another year gone. This time next year I will be on maintenance – I just know it! Only another 10.5kg till goal weight with maybe another three after I see how I look. Dont want to look too gaunt in the face if I lose too much. Will reassess at 80kg. I am sure to make it by my 60th. 80kg is a good weight for me as I am six feet tall – 182cm.

Did a chicken soup for dinner. Bought a chicken from Coles, stripped it and used the carcass to make a stock – filled the stock with green veges and some additional chicken meat and mushrooms – yummo. Full as a goog and it is mainly water. I also discovered the little tins of four bean mix. Great to throw into the lunch box for work and high in protein as well especially for FDays.

Thats it from me today. Good wishes for the next FD to everybody.

Yes, Doggy, Valentines Day has only just arrived here.

Uptight, the wat we take the bitter out of the sprouts is by first boiling or streaming thema until al de te (first slice a cross in the bottom) then brown some onions in a bit of oil (in rings or, diced or chopper) until they are zweet and then add the sprouts to that. I taste bitter very strongly, I even get a bitter aftertaste from my silicone thermometer. But I’ve always been able to eat onion sprouts. The onion takes the bitter away.

It keeps surprising me how things that are so common and traditional here are not somewhere else. Something else to love about this thread.

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Hope you had a great day! Hubby and i went to Denmark for lunch and I had Lemon Mirtle Squid salad and an icy cold Sav Blanc……heaven!

Well done everyone on your losses and how much better you feel and look. CG so glad you had a good nights sleep..

And GOGAL……you made me smile so much, you are effervescent and fun! I can picture you in front of the mirror, twirling and smiling at how nicely your clothes fit and your little waist.

Happy Valentine’s to everyone from Ireland. My lovely but misguided hubby gave me an enormous Toblerone and I had two segments for breakfast!!
Dogsabie – so sorry to hear about your flood disaster. Hope you get sorted soon.
YumYum, Ruxton and Suejen – well done on your losses to date, very steady progress which is just as it should be.
Foxy – great that you are enjoying such a lovely trip, best wishes for the rest of your weekend.
Countrygal – maybe now that you are sleeping better, you will come off the plateau too – here’s hoping!
Flemmy, brussel sprouts are traditional here for Christmas day but I never really ate them until my sister in law cooked them on the pan with onions and lardons – much more tasty.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everybody and keep on flying the 5:2 flag! <3

Sounds like everyone had a good day. I had a bit too much for lunch – well chose a wrap that sounded good but was oozing cheese when it arrived. Then hubby took me out for dinner on the way home to a chinese restaurant & definitely ate too much. But never mind, it’s only once a year. Hopefully my scrubbing of cupboards for my daughter might offset a bit of that! And when I think about it we actually ate way less than we used to – we shared a main meal, & I didn’t have a wine so not so bad & very tasty.
FTR chocolate was a great way to start your day eh!
Ooh Foxy love the sound of Denmark and that icy cold Sav Blanc. Divine!!
R24 a Happy Birthday to you & sounds like you’re doing very well. Great that you’re looking so confidently ahead to being on maintenance next year. That’s the spirit.
CG hope you enjoyed yr expresso – never have enuf cals left for one. I agree with you that you should eat up to you TDEE a bit more & not be so restrictive on those days & see what it does.
Yumyum I’ve with you re egg salad sandwiches – love them, & I would have done the same thing I reckon, especially on rye. Hubby has been having the cramps like you on 5:2 and he’s now on a Magnesium powder (tablets not working for him) but he’s still getting them, though not every night. So can’t help you much there.

Sleep tight all & enjoy your dreams of becoming slim & healthy getting a little closer to a reality day by day! sj

Lardons do make everything brtter, don’t they?

Happy Birthday, Ruxton! Hope you have a splendid day. Those 100g may just be a cuppa extra fluids you had anyway. 4kg in a month is absolutely amazing, congrats!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUXTON-wishing you all the very best for the year and every success on the new you.
YUM YUM-Thanks for mentioning the leg cramps. About 7 weeks ago I woke during the night with leg cramps., thought that I may have an injury from running…No….The cramps returned the next few nights I have a habit of pointing my toes which seem to encourage the cramps…. Started taking Magnesium Tabs so far so good.
FOXY-You funny girl…. thats exactly what I have been doing….felt a little vain ,Never looked in the mirror that much before… Now there is something good to look at. With your loss I bet your twirling too!LOL WE can be “the stike a pose gals” ALL THE TEAM INCLUDED IN THAT, BY THE WAY.
FITTORETIRE-Toblerone for breakfast nothing bad about starting the day with chocolate …. I must buy a Toberone …Have not had one for many years.
SUEJEN-well done on your loss…doing so very well.
Fast day coming up…. Enjoy your weekend indulges…. You have all been so diligent with your food choices ..you deserve the reward……..GO GAL

Morning team, HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUXTON, it’s your day..enjoy it
Sorry to hear that cramps are inflicting pain on so many of you, I was always told that it is caused by lack of salt but hope the magnesium keeps it in check for you. What a wonderful substance Magnesium seems to be, as with aiding sleep too.

PLANNING day today team, don’t sweat the small stuff, just get on with living, get a boiled egg going tonight for the hungreys tomorrow arvo, cut up some carrot etc to have on hand, have your cauli rice at the ready the steamed fish in the freezer at the ready, WHAT COULD BE EASIER? If your fast day is planned it makes slip up’s near impossible. Your AUSSIE DETERMINATION will get you through, question yourself when temptation gets in the way, DO I REALLY NEED THIS…..?

As The Buddha says…YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE so think slim and healthy 🙂 YOU CAN DO IT…..have a beautiful day team, you deserve it ….. CG xxxx

Go Gal – I’m afraid that temptation got the better of me and I had more chocolate for dinner and supper!! I’m a real chocoholic and if you’re anything like me, I’d advise NOT buying one!! Oh well, think I’ll have to do three FD’s next week to repair the damage 🙁
Happy birthday, Ruxton, if I’m not too late…..these time zones have my head melted! Or maybe, it’s the overdose of Toblerone!

Thanks for the onion tip, Flemmy. Fittoretire, what are lardons? Definitely not an Australian term!

Good morning everyone! Newbie to the forum here, looks like I’ve found the online support I was hoping for! I had been hearing about 5:2 for ages from work colleagues and even poo poo’d it for for a while before seeing the doco (and others from Michael) and realising it was something I needed to try, and see if my body type and psychology could do it… its now week 6 for me (from 1st Jan) and I have lost 10 kilos.. I can hardly believe it, seriously, just can’t quite get my head around how nice and steady the loss has been after an initial steamroller in the first 2 weeks… and not once has it backtracked, not once, even with a dodgy meal here and there. I do have good motivation, ie a trip OS in July, and I want to get off this damn CPAP torture device. I have modified my eating behaivour on non fast days – I’ve done away with white bread and white flour/sugar concoctions.. using raw sugar or maple syrup for sweetness when needed, unlimited fruit and only eating that Bakers Delight super grainy bread occasionally. I’ve hardly exercised at all yet, but will be getting back to the gym this week to work on my strength and endurance (for all that walking in UK and Paris!). Anyway, just wanted to say hi from Melbourne!

Tatania WELCOME to our AUSSIE DETERMINATION, you have already done an exceptional job, that is a fantastic loss good on YOU! We will support and encourage you on your 5:2 journey with a wonderful team of members, all very understanding and non judgemental. As we all have the same issues we share our findings, our recipes and our hints as to what works for us…Welcome aboard…CG xx

Hi Uptight – lardons are basically chopped up rashers or pieces of bacon.. it’s a french term which I knew Flemmy would be familiar with, but I keep seeing it used in online recipes so thought it was more widespread now.
Welcome Tatania – wow and well done on weight loss to date! Your results so far are amazing – I’m well jealous. You have certainly joined the right forum for advice and support, but it looks like you’re doing fine on your own. Great to have you with us.

    Hi Everyone,
Just trying to catch-up here. I have been MIA for a few days as I have been battling teeth problems. I did manage to get the appointment to have it removed bought forward and had it out yesterday. Still feeling a bit sorry for myself and had the worst nutrition day I have had in years yesterday. When the total calories went over 3000 on MFP I stopped putting things in. That is a good lesson to put things in as you eat them rather than waiting till the end of the day to add them up.
I honestly don’t know what came over me. I have put on 2 KG but it is nothing that I cannot come back from.
I am having a fast day today and will just have to be super vigilant during the week. I have a very daunting week ahead of me and not looking forward to it so that will be a trigger for me as well.
Hi Tatania. Welcome. Sorry for my little rant there. Wow, congratulations, 10kg, thats fantastic. You must feel awesome. Keep up the good work. I need this type of inspiration at the moment.
Suejen, your posts are always so thoughtful.
I hope everyone is having an awesome day. I know today is going to be better for me than yesterday.

I do like your Buddha saying there CG. It is so true. There is another saying I like by Yoda. “There is no try. Just do and don’t do”

Hi Cath, been wondering how you were managing with that tooth. It’s behind you now, I guess your still sore but that will pass as will the new extra 2k. I was 81.9k Friday, so fasted yesterday plus just as important had two great night sleeps, and this morning, 80.1k and fasting again tomorrow…But not today, full roast with trimmings planned for my dinner tonight, heaps of veg and gravy! Funny enough the whole meal size is so much smaller than it used to be so still full of variety but smaller portions. Going over as you did yesterday is so easy, a latte a sandwich, a few drinks etc…whatever, just a cheese sandwich which we used to consider healthy or a ham and salad roll can put us well over . Don’t be hard on yourself, like you say it will be gone after a fast or two!
Like Yoda’s saying too, thank you, I know another for when I over indulge, we can’t change the direction of the wind but we can adjust our sails….CG 🙂 xxxxxx

Hello team. Welcome Tatnia. You will find that we are very supportive here. Feel free to whinge or boast about your weight loss or lack thereof. We all understand.
Countrygal, yes the carpet got B Saturated. I had every beach towel in the cupboard down to try and soak it up. Now having to wash them all. Yes it does stink. It’s lucky that we were home otherwise would have got back to a disaster. It’s still damp outside today so not good carpet drying weather.
I’m getting my new puppy on Thursday. The breeder had initially given us the wrong week. Hubby is going to be OS so all the house training will be up to me. It won’t be the first time.
Re the cramps. Bio Magnesium is the thing. I take one at night before I go to bed. I very seldom get cramps now. My GP recommended them.
We are about to go out for lunch and I’m sure to eat something I shouldn’t. Not to worry. It’s another FD tomorrow and I’ll get back on track.

    Hi again.

    Thanks GC.
I hope and trust that you are going to enjoy every morsel on the plate tonight. You deserve it. I love roasts…. 🙂

Wow Dogsabie, a lot going on for you with the water and now a new puppy. How exciting though. A new member of the family!!! You will bond so well being just the 2 of you…hubby will have to catch-up when he gets back.

A lot has been said lately about magnesium. My nutritionist has had me on it for years now and I really notice the difference when I forget to take it….

Good morning everyone! Happy Birthday Ruxton, sorry if I am late, I hope you got spoilt!

Welcome Tatania…..10 kilos is 6 weeks is such an amazing loss! Keep up the good work, I bet you are so happy you decided to give 5:2 a try after all.

Well the dreaded constipation came around and bit me after all my skyping in saying it wasn’t a bother! Resorted to metamucil yesterday and have awful gurgling tum today, yuk…..been walking though and keeping busy so I hope it moves soon!

All prepared for tomorrows fast, am going to make a zucchini slice for dinner to have with salad….I’ll put the recipe on the thread once I work it out. We will miss breakfast and have a boost juice for lunch as we usually do.

My appetite is so decreased these days…..after my yummy lunch in Denmark yesterday…..I wasn’t even hungry for dinner. LOVE 5:2 and my shrinking inside tummy…..outside tum getting smaller too 🙂

Uptight, Fit, yes! Although I only learned the term when I made British friends living in Barcelona 🙂 I think in America they call them bacon bits.

Made cheesecake and a pasta bake today. Eating the cake tomorrow. I never understand why people don’t stick with this WOL, it’s so amazing.

Happy birthday Ruxton, hope you are out celebrating but will see this later.

Tatania, welcome. 10k’s in 6 weeks great! Just think what will happen when eating and exercise kick in!!
    .
Will stick to the Magnesium, see how I go. Thanks everyone for input.

Foxy since we had bathroom reno done last Feb. I haven’t been able to see below my ribcage because all fittings are so much higher now and I’m only just 5ft. Didn’t think of that when choosing DER. I’ll have to wait til I buy a cheval mirror for my walk-in robe or else keep jumping…not a good look LOL. Zucchini slice is also on my agenda for tonight but I might hold off in case yours in more inspirational than mine!!!

Suejen the sarnie was delicious. Craving satisfied for a bit. Ridiculous to crave such healthy food! And Fitto there is a Toblerone calling to me from the pantry, property of my husband, which is the ONLY thing stopping me from sampling. Glad your ordeal by dentist is over Catherine. YY

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I have bought a Stevia plant and I do the nutribullet on fast days and sometimes all the veg can be a bit – well – vegetabley!! Adding fruit can sweeten it but also adds the calories a bit. One leaf of the Stevia and it sweetens it up just enough to make it more palatable. Just an idea to throw out there. Havent looked into the drying of it yet but apparently many ways to use it to sweeten things.

I have heard that magnesium can leach out the calcium in the bones if too much is taken. Anybody know about this – myth or fact???

Hi Ruxton here are some facts at Magnesium. There are some great benifits from having MAGNESIUM in your diet. You actually need both calcium and magnesium for bone health The jury is still out about leaching effects. Smoking does cause a leaching of calcium from the bone causing low bone density. Would you believe that Magnesium can: –
    1 relieve constipation
2 protects blood vessels and your heart
3 Is a natural blood thinner
    4 Relieves irritability and anxiety.

AGAIN! I STRESS TO ALWAYS BE ADVISED BY YOUR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL. There are side effects that can upset medications that you may already be taking.
Also, when drinking alcohol there may be Tummy upsets.
Foods rich in magnesium are brown rice. spinach, bananas ( 2 a day)lentils and beans.
Hope that it has answered some of your questions……..GO GAL

HI Ad’s a bit late getting on here today & soo much to read. Welcome Tatania and such a great loss to begin with. No wonder you want to keep going!
Well I wish I’d kept off the scales this morning as they tell me I’ve gained 1.3kg overnight. Not surprising with all the food I ate but surprised it was so much (yep I know fluid, salt etc). Never mind it’s comin’ off pretty soon! Being extra careful today & FD tomorrow. Might even have to do a 4:3 like others have done. But will see how Tuesday’s weigh-in goes first.
Yum Yum can’t help but picture you jumping up and down in order to see yourself in the mirror. Maybe it would assist your weight loss eh?!
YY & FC Ooh I can’t wait to see those zucchini slice recipes. I love the stuff but hubby just tolerates it, & that’s all. As to giving him actual slices of zucchini that he can actually see…….NO WAY! That or cucumber is the worst thing I can do to him. A fate worse than death might await me!!
Dogsabie enjoy your new puppy & bonding with him/her. I wld love to get a puppy but for the time being because we have a son overseas it just down’t work for us to have one. Looking forward to the day when we can though.
CG so glad you’ve had TWO night’s sleep now and that you’re enjoying a full roast with the works. Sounds great for you.
Catherine we’re all allowed our little rants. Where would be be without our AD team to do that! But just kick those extra 2k’s on the way and stick to your saying……Don’t try, just do it.

Actually when I think about it ADérs that’s exactly what the Fast Diet allows us to do. I have TRIED with so many other diets, as I’m sure many of you have, but with this one we can actually DO it successfully…..easily…..almost effortlessly….just a whole lot of planning and adjusting and shrinking! to do. Just fast…and then fast again. Aaaaaaand repeat.
    Byee suejen

Doggy here. Anyone watching the cricket? Hubby and I just finished watching South Africa beat Zimbabwe. I am biased as I was born in South Africa.
Yes I’m so much looking forward to the new puppy. He’s a miniature Poodle. I haven’t owned a small dog for decades. My last five have been Golden Retrievers. Wonderful natures they have. Our much loved Sabie ( thus my username ) had to euthanised just before Christmas. We were just devastated.
Another FD tomorrow. I’m going to have a seafood and salad day. Egg for brekkie. Lots of fluids. It defiantly does get easier the more one does it.

Good morning team…HAPPY FAST DAY to those who are doing it. YOU CAN DO IT, temptation is just in the mind, ignore it and keep your AUSSIE DETERMINATION’s healthy reigine going! Don’t forget to keep the fluid up, they help keep you full, maybe a hard boiled egg mid arvo if needed and a yummy healthy low cal dinner for tonight….keep up the good work team… CG 🙂 xxxx

    Good morning all

    Well done to everyone.

Today is my 5 month anniversary of this new way of eating.
    down 16.5kgs
Down 55cm off body all over
Down from 22 work pants to 16 to 18 in between at the moment
    Food is my friend
    Love salad and fruits
Can over a few foods over the weekend without feeling any guilt or stress that was big for me
Can have big days out and they can be fixed over a couple of fasts and think I have blown it.

Anyway will read everyone’s post tonight

Hope everyone has a great fast day

    Bali

    Congrats Bali, that’s brilliant!
Dogsabie, I am excited for you. After our beautiful old lab died we eventually got a labradoodle who is now 8 months old and gorgeous. This is my first inside dog and so went for the poodle coat and the lab personality. He is wonderful if a bit exhausting at times while a puppy, but gives us lots of laughs and makes us get out and walk with him. He doesn’t shed at all, and is pretty laid back though he loves to be with us all the time so a true companion dog. He is lab size though as I am a big dog person and I am discovering just how much he can reach!
Fasting today. This morning I will be at the hairdressers for a few hours so just have to resist the proffered biscuit with my coffee. Good luck all.

Happy 5 Anniversary BALI…..You are an Inspiration Girl!!!!
I am so happy & proud of you . WELL DONE!!!!!! YAHOOOOOOOO…….GO GAL XXX

DOGSBIE-,Nothing is better than a cool , wet nose nuzzling you 1st thing in the morning. than a puppy dog… Congratulations! You will be on cloud nine and have that wonderful unconditional love. I have a 2yr old Bichon Frieze ( this is my 3rd) called OSCAR. He does not shed fur as he too is an inside dog.So intelligent, does tricks that I have not trained him to do …it’s just their personality. He is my shadow….HE cannot do anything without me so he opens sliding doors ,pushing the shower screen door so that he can come in to sit watching me….. Hmmmmm He was 3 mths old when I bought him , bonding between us happened very quickly ,so I am his MUM .I also get groomed.
Happy and enjoyable fast day to all doing today and those of you doing tomorrow
WE ARE STRONG…WE ARE AUSSIE DETERMINATION…..WE CAN DO IT!!!!!…….GO GALxxx

    Good morning everyone 🙂
Happy Anniversary Bali! wow 16.5 kilos in five months. Would that I could do the same 🙂
Congrats on the fur family Dogsabie. And such a cute story about your dog, Go Gal!
Fast day today (after a blah last three days of weight fluctuations of about 1 and 1/2 kilos up and down each day)- been so busy, so I have not yet had any food and will hold on easily till lunch at 12 pm which is better than my usual fast day meal at 10 am. Apart from minor grumpiness, no other symptoms (My last meal was about 6 pm yesterday). I think I will stay from my poor colleagues lol. Hormonal time of the month. 🙂
    Have a great day team!!
    xx

Good Morning Foxy, just saw your post, I don’t get on the website most weekends. I am hoping to get back to at least 72kgs, I was at that weight in 2013. The kilos slowly crept up after I changed job loactions and did not walk as much. I have only been walking 30 minutes a day, so I think I need to step that up.
I tried the fast excercise and OMG it is a killer. I need to get a bit fitter first I think!

    Have a great week everyone!!

Oh and today is only the start of my 3rd week – I need to be PATIENT!! LOL

Good morning everyone! Well done Bali! 16.5 kilos in three months is wonderful, congratulations, you must be as proud of yourself as we are of you! Inspirational stuff!

GOGAL…..I had a laugh over your puppy story…..who sounds just like my little Chester…..2 year old Chihuahua cross. He is my baby and does everything with me too…..alas he sheds, but is still an inside dog and atm the hero of the house because he scared of a would be burglar Friday night….they propped open our side gate for a quick getaway, went round back and went through Dan’s car (nothing in it thankfully)….but must have ran off fast when Chester went crazy with his high pitched barked (first time I’ve been thankful for it) …he woke me and the burglary was foiled…..not so lucky the family up 2 doors up, who slept through them forcing a window and robbing them! B@#!&%ds!
Dogabie….I’m sure you will love your new little family member!
HAHAHAHA…..YUM YUM…..you need one of those little trampolines in your bathroom LOL…that was funny

IM SORRY I haven’t posted the zucchini slice recipe yet….just after I posted yesterday I had two sets of visitors and day just went away from me….that’s my next thing to do…

DP…..I know how those kilos can creep on, they been sneaking up on me too for many years….BUT this time, I like you, are going to get rid of them for good!

Have a great fast day everyone!

Hi team, just back from Dr and Water Aerobics. A quick coffee then hair cut…busy fast day…followed by a nanny nap I think. Maggie my cat bought a BAT in last night for my boy’s to play with (three King Charles Spaniels) and woke me during the pursuit jumping on and off the bed. It’s not unusual for her to bring them in a mouse but them they can catch. From 1.30-3.00 there was I chasing this poor little bat, around the house, closing off rooms anyway I left it settle, went back to bed but it started flying again with my three boys trying to catch it, not a hope of course even on their hind legs! I eventually turned off all lights, lock the boys in the bedroom, and opened the sliding doors out to my deck, as soon as I put the deck light on, out it flew! By the way Doggy you’ll never get the loo in private again either, my three sit at my feet whilst I’m in there! I guess it’s the only time they get me sitting still hehehe. 🙂 Even though they are all them same breed, they each have their own idiosyncrasies . (Sp?)
I checked these sleeping tabs with my Dr all’s good, he said their fine with no harm, also took my Magnesium tabs as well as my Calcium tabs to check I wasn’t over loading as the calcium have a small amount of magnesium in them. I usually buy them in the one tab, but somehow ended up with two separate lots, worth checking team!
Have a great fasting day team, it’s only one day, YOU CAN DO IT, I’m doing the water aerobics three times a week now to try to move this plateau, although probably build muscle instead, but I’m moving, yaaaa! As well as 4:3 so will let you know the outcome….. 🙂 CG xx

Morning all FD for me like most of us I guess. Catherine had one of your Chia Pots for breakfast, but I need to get some vanilla paste as my few drops of vanilla essence just didn’t flavour it enough for me. But quite filling so far.
Have a busy day ahead with some more Pizza/Pasta sauce to make up from our tomato crop. It’s a yummy sauce as I tried one of my first jars last night with a bit of fish and it was delish. So will keep busy and drink lots until my Zucchini/Vegetable Slice tonight. Saw the recipe on our thread & it’s got just the right amount of cals to complement the Chia Pot. Makes for a good day & so long as I cook hubby some chicken etc to go with it he won’t complain about the zucchinis!
Have to really think about planning my week as it’s my birthday on Friday & I know that I’m having a morning tea out with a friend at a lovely winery (they do high tea!), & then a lunch with hubby on Saturday at a new winery. As you can tell Margaret River is in a winery/foodie area. So might have to add in another fast day this week to compensate. But I love that I can do that with 5:2 and I can have my birthday treats and NOT feel guilty. Still working on the not feeling guilty part (anyone else like that?) but it’s coming slowly. After years of guilt when I’ve over eaten on diets it takes a while to get yourself out of the habit.

So for me this WOL is a real release and a freedom that I never thought would be possible while losing weight. Have a great day all and use your aussie determination to stick to your plan and don’t forget to enjoy the journey! sj

Hi fellow ADs. Thanks too for stories about your animals. Countrygal the bat story is hilarious. When Sabie ( RIP ) was a puppy he brought a baby possum into the house. He didn’t hurt it as retrievers are bred that way. We had this poor terrifed creature siting on the curtainrail in the dining room. Sabie barking excitedly in the Landry where had been closed up. Hubby with a broom, three neighbours standing round offering advice. We were not able to budge him. Eventually hubby got some heavy gardening gloves and managed to pry posssy off the rails and take him outside.
Yes FD today. So far all is going well. We are having fish and salads for dinner. Hubby will get a yummy boiled spud plus butter with his. – I won’t look while he eats it!
Tatania you are going to love your OS trip. We were in Italy and Paris in September last year. The architecture and history there is so interesting. Whatever you do , don’t stay in The Hotel De Paris. It’s near the Garre de Lyon which is a large railway starion. It’s a shocker.
Cheers all and keep on keeping on.

Hi all! Am loving all the doggie stories. I too am a dog lover and have always have pet dogs in my life – mostly labradors. We are on our third lab now – a gorgeous black one called Molly. We bring her to France with us and she loves to have miles and miles of beaches to run around in complete freedom. In fact, it was through her that we got to make friends with the locals in Normandy, because the French are real dog lovers too. I agree that they all have their own personalities – Molly’s main quirk is that she barks at men, not women, no matter how many times she meets male family or friends, she still barks when they come in. She also saved us from a burglary with her lovely loud bark and I always feel very safe if I’m on my own in the house.
Starting my second fast day of my first back to back FDs, to make up for Valentine’s excesses!! Wish me luck!
Have a great week pals 🙂

Hi All Loving the dog stories too. We had a beautiful golden retriever for 14 years & then a silly but loveable cocker spaniel for 12 years. After he died hubby said No don’t want to go through any more dog deaths, but he’ll come around one day. We lived in Alice Springs with our retriever and he lived up to his name. He collected all the neighbour’s shoes/boots/thongs and brought them home and buried them! Never harmed any shoes…we just had to find them!! At one stage we put a whole batch of them along our fence posts & let our neighbour’s know to come and have a look. So wish I’d taken a photo of that. Always wondered too how he brought pairs home….did he make 2 trips or did he manage to carry both in his mouth somehow?!
Well had a good fD. The chia pudding really does a good job of filling you up well until dinnertime. Then I made the Vegetable Slice that’s on our thread. Only trouble was that when I went out to the garden to get spinach/silver beet hubby has taken it all out to plant new ones. Nothing to be seen. So only thing I could find was rocket leaves that were oversize. They become very peppery and bitter. I HOPED that the other ingredients would mask it….but… it….. didn’t. Never mind it’s OK but won’t do that again.
But all in all a good day with plenty of fluids & not too many thoughts about food. I’ve already made the Zucchini Muffins for tomorrow’s breakfast – yum, with butter. And made some Chai Tea from scratch with almond milk & shall have that for brekky too. All sorted. Weigh-in day tomorrow so here’s hoping I’ve lost the weekend’s excess. Fittoretire all the best with your B2B fast. Hope it goes well for you. And hope everyone had a great fast day. SJ

Hi all. Soup Day is changed to Thursday, today is Pizza Bread Day instead. I’ve made tortilla pizza before but this time I’m putting in less effort and just using yesterday’s buns to make pizza rolls. 1 bun with passata, mustard, salami, ketchup, grated cheese and some Cherry tomatoes = 213kcal. Will report back if they are filling enough.

Meg, adding a tiny bit of salt on FDs helped my headaches. I just are the tiniest knife tip of salt twice a day and it got rid of headaches completely. I don’t know if it’ll help you but it was a game changer for me. If you’re not into sucking on pure salt, dissolving a broth cube in some water and having a shot glass or 2 zuring the day night help. And that’s like 1 kcal per shot.

Hi Jlndabella, welcome. I started similarly to you: 165cm, 85.5 kg, waist +/- 90cm. I’m a pear though so my thighs were probably exponentially bigger than yours (I only started measuring them much later but they’re still 53.5 cm now). I took the scenic route and it toon me 2 years but I’m now 61.5kg with a 65cm waist and 95cm hip. I just like to give people a bit of perspective from a long time faster. Seems like that helps motivation. It’s a good idea to measure so you don’t rely on the scales only, they’re not always our best friends. 10 kg in 20 weeks does seem like a good goal, but if you happen to strand at 8 or 9 by that time, make sure to still considering it a victory. It seems like big undertaking but it gets easier (fun even) and it will happen faster than you think.

Hope all the newbies have a great time here. I’m on my phone so struggling to read and reply. Will come back later. At the parents’ house because my mum threw out her back yesterday and I’m walkimg her to the GP in a while.

    Happy fasting, everyone!

Morning team, how did you go with your fasting. Don’t forget “a jug fills one drop at a time” so even if your loss is slow, things are happening to your body, give it time, we all get impatient but we put the extra weight on slowly and it stayed, now the reverse will happen. Have a happy day team, your healthy food choices will reward you.
Foxy what an awful ordeal fo you with burglars. It’s maddedning when people work all their lives to get to where they are only to have a low life take it without thought or regard. Punishment may not be ours but it WILL happen, but we should never be affraid in our own homes. Like you, I get cross when my boys bark, usually at a leaf falling from a tree it seems, but they do make me feel safe at night and WOULD frighten a stranger, Indy often rushes outside barking..Fox, Roo, who knows, their hearing is incredible but it is their way of being protective, as their size isn’t too intimidating so barking is their weapon!
Enjoy your day, BE HAPPY 🙂 it beats the alternative! CG xxxx

    Good morning everyone

Yesterday’s fast went really well. Had no brekky chicken sweet corn homemade soup lunch a banana mid afternoon, then chicken and chick pea patties with large salad for dinner. Did well come in under 490. I went to gym and burned over 500 so zero calorie day.

Love everyone’s dog stories. We havent had a dog for about 8 years as we are not home and go on holidays often. i would like to get one at some stage. We only have chooks for yummy eggs.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning AD’s!
FOXY- What a terrible thing to happen. Thank the stars for Chester!. Having a home break in is something that worries us all, ESP during the night.Glad you and Dan were safe.
Well , I was very naughty yesterday My fast started off well until 3pm….. Gave in to temptation…. I devoured a toblerone! it was sooooo good …Just a small one , however plenty of cals 250 or something like that. So am fasting today to fix the damage.
Have a get day team…….GO GAL

I ate that stupid biscuit at the hairdressers after all but somehow managed to scrape in under 500 just.
Fortunately most of my fast days come well under so it is OK. Annoyed at myself though. It wasn’t even particularly good!
