  • “Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I’ve got a beautiful feeling everything’s going your way” 🎤🎧🎼

    😄💕xx

Hi Aussies! Boy it was a crazy day, typical Monday I guess. Gyps, what I wouldn’t give for a video of you terrorizing the Marist Bros with your son. And the “unveiling”! I enjoyed that also when I rode, but unfortunately those days are behind us (a few too many broken bones – OH took a few tumbles but came out OK). It isn’t so much the joy of shocking people but just tripping up their assumptions. No way am I wearing a skirt though! Must have a photo of all of you dressed to the nines.

Fit honestly did you break a mirror or something? You’re having a string of it lately, but at least you’re onto the things that can be fixed. ☑️ Our plumber ended up being cancelled thanks to a big bottle of Drano. That stuff never works until you’ve called the plumber, you know. 🤑🔧 Glad to hear you are considering Pilates, I loved that and can’t remember why I stopped. More into the active sports I guess.

Barb, how nice to spend time with the kids, I’m with you, I have had some meals lately that I didn’t log because I truly did not want to know. I’ve just recently ended the scales’ tyranny, I don’t need to let MFP crack too big a whip. There’s a reason I’m still a 5:2er after so many months, and it’s not to ride the guilt train. 💣🚂
Aw CG, humming cows? What a wonderful thing, Danny sounds like the perfect addition to your little family. Glad you were able to sleep in, your body is telling you to relax and not taking no for an answer 👊💤 The scale on the other hand, well it always messes with us doesn’t it. It is no match for you.

SJ, 7000 steps is a LOT!! I seriously don’t know how anyone does 10k every day. I walked my tootsies off today and just logged 6000. Mostly running from students – two graded papers were given back, so I try to hide while they go thru the stages of grief.

Darn, wanted today to be a FD but had the rare chance for lunch with D so…maybe tomorrow. It’ll be busy enough!! G’night loves. xxx

    Hi all
Its been a mad weekend and week so far and its only tuesday. I had a meeting till after 10 last night so did not fast. Today i am too tired to do it so it looks like i will have to do it tomorrow and Thurs or Thurs and Fri. Weekend was nuts too. I had a meeting all of saturday, and then sunday was church and our áfter party at the powerhouse museum cafe and then i had a meeting at 4. Busy busy. Still struggling and went from 121 after my last fast to 122.6. No clue as to why. I have kept within my NFD points apart from Saturday when i was a bit over. My feet are bloated with the heat and steroids so i think thats got a lot to do with it. I have a doctors appt this arvo so i will talk to him about it all.

SJ – well done with the garmin. It does get easier. I find that 10 mins is about 1000 steps. I have been trying to walk before work but have been too tired. Its a struggle but worth it to get to the 10000. Sometimes i dance…that helps!

I had a long long talk with GG on Saturday and am looking forward to catching up with you all in March.

I have only skimmed the posts and will go back and read them later. Have a good day all and for those who are fasting good luck!

    Love
    Anne

Take care of yourself Annie, you only have you to answer to you….. 😀 Eating healthy options and being in control of your portions is all you need when you are unable to fast 💝Xxx

Hi all. Sorry for being MIA for a few days..we have been super busy painting over at DAughters place, getting it all the bedrooms done before the carpets go down tomorrow. Think we’ll make it. I have also been sewing her some more cool clothes for work as she is getting lots of days relief work at the local catholic school in Coffs. So we have been going over around 3pm and I have been getting dinner whilst her and OH paint . We have dinner over there and come home and fall into bed. So I usually post when I am having a rest before dinner and have not been having one. Must say the painting has been very worth it and D and I found more curtains on special, enough to do all of the bedrooms. Looking great. She, and Both of us,will have a break while we are away and we will tackle the the rest later in the year. And her new clothes look great.

Gyps. I have just run in my most comfortable clothes to take with me. I go for comfort whilst travelling these days, something that does not need ironing and I know I will be comfortable in..so it will not be a fashion parade. My skirt I am taking for the dinner is years and years old and used to be comfortable. Found it in the box of clothes that I can now fit in in the bottom of my cupboard. What’s inside the person is much more important than what’s on the outside and we all know that you are truly beautifull inside. Can’t wait to meet you and of course the gawdmother. That goes for everyone else as well of course. 💜💕💐💜💕💐🎉

Can’t possibly answer everyone but have read and enjoyed posts. Sounds like Danny is settling in well and SJ sounds like you are enjoying your freedom. Too late to wish Doggy Bon voyage but thinking of her.
Time to get going and get into the sewing room to take in a few more things. Oh I forgot. Had a good fast day yesterday and am being good…bye for now and thinking of you all 💜💜💜

Hi PH 💜💜 just peeking in before bedtime here, great to see you come up for air – the purple hearts are perfect for you! Boy there is nothing like new floor covering to get the paintbrushes going, is there. Congrats on getting all the great work done, I know the house will look gorgeous when you’re done. Gyps and I can come with chainsaws if you need any heavy landscaping 💪How wonderful to have found a bunch of clothes that fit again 😍😍 xx ps learning those emojis pretty well, love my mini 💕

Hi Team very late looking in today. OH decided we should go out for brekky since I’m now able to. So it was brekky then my osteopath then playing the organ for the folks in the retirement home then home for lunch. I tell you what I think osteopaths are bloomin’ marvellous. I can now make the bed and do the vacuuming without having to stop and do exercises to free up my back etc. No dramas…and they work so gently which is a plus with my bones. It was interesting today as I took my last spinal x-rays showing a scoliosis to the left in my neck & to the right in my spine. He hadn’t seen the x-rays but he showed me his diagram of my back & it looked EXACTLY like the x-ray. All through touch & looking at my stance & how I move. So I’m a real convert!
PH you haven’t left yet you’ve just been darn busy! You’re going to NEED a holiday! That’s one lucky D of yours…al those clothes you’re making for her. Sounds like a whole wardrobe! You’re right PH I can’t wait to meet everyone & see the person inside….not what we’re all wearing. Will be fascinating!!
AA you too are one busy lady. Your weekends with church sounds a bit like mine especially when there are extra things on. Makes life a bit mad at times.
Jade the only way I made the 7000 was to do a Leslie Sansome Walking video – do you know them, she has 1 mile, 2 mile 3 mile etc videos…..mountains of them. Up till then my normal day hadn’t got me much at all.
Wow CG you’re heading for 40 (or was that yesterday)? Raining here today and a top of 21 so coolish. Heading for 30 by the weekend. Lovely to hear of Danny boy kicking his heels up for a brief time before being put into the shade.
Fit water heater is sorted & new carer very nice. things are looking up girl! Yes find yourself a Pilates class…it’s wonderful!
Barb why not try the 5 mins at a time if you’re an exercise hater. 5 mins is no big deal you can tell yourself – over in no time, and then do it again later.

Well better get to the tasks that I haven’t done yet seeing it’s 1.30 like make the bed & do the washing etc. Had a good sleep last night so my Garmin tells me though there was a bit of a blip as it said that I slept till 10.35am! Mmm not sure how/where to fix that one. Will have to investigate. Enjoy your day all. suejen XXXX

Hi all. Barb,We’ll say housework and ironing count, anything that has us upright is beneficial. Am also looking at my exercise bike feeling slack. It’s out in the shed and just can’t go out in this heat to exercise. Doing what I can indoors, crunchies, weights, shaker and step ups, but it is a chore. Have wanted to experiment with Pilates, but no good to me if it involves sitting on the floor.

CG your babies sound lovely. They do say animals reflect their person’s characteristics, so Lexie is just passing it down the line.

Fit, glad things are easing up on you.

SJ, way to go! Watching the slaves carry on is one of the joys of retirement. You’ll be an old hand at it in no time. Then you’ll start looking for alternative challenges. A nice time of life. Enjoy it.

Jade, I wouldn’t give up ya day job for the pick and shovel, mate. Yew don’t sound too domesticated to me. I know the feeling. Any excuse to avoid the kitchen sink. Get a Harley and get a life!

Corn beef is boiling over. gotta go. xxgyps

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM8aBESf8EI

Indeed. There are times when only natural expression will do…..

So when the corn beef boils over, the stove fuses and you are left with fat slippery floor, raw meat and no power, where do you find inspiration?….lucky I speak bird……. Bon appetite, leprechaun… I’m going to the pub….. Zelda

PS. I wouldn’t wanna mislead… there’s no angelic carers here. What I offer is survival training!

Onya Zelda, you tell that girl you’re the boss and get her to sit with her feet up ☺️💕Xxx

Suejen I’m pleased to hear you have become a convert. The ostiopaths are brilliant, totally different to chiro’s or physios and in my opinion, do a better job. AND they don’t rush you, you get a full treatment, not just a quick click and hand over the cash 😉 Aint retirement grand? Glad you’re taking hold of the reins xxxxxx

    Hi all. Back again.
Jade. Glad to hear you are enjoying the emojis and your mini. I love my iPad. Thanks for the offer of som chainsaw hours. OH and D can cause enough devastation with these thanks, coming off a farm was an essential tool to learn to use. I never did get to use them though…everyone else was having too much fun.
Just in haveing a lie down in the cool airconditioning..having a break from the alterations. Was bringing the washing in after I posted and disaster struck..my happy dress fell to bits. I knew it was getting close but then looked at the other one and it was just as bad…. So have just made two new ones this afternoon for the trip. In case you don’t know ” happy dresses”. Are my name for my dresses I get into the minute I get into the house after being out and flinging off the bra.. I live in them at home. Very simple to make, about half an hour per dress. I have a trusty pattern and just make new ones each year..think I must have forgot this year. So all good to go. Still have a few alterations to do but nearly there.

SJ. Sooo pleased you have found a good osteo.

Just realised I did not post this afternoon. So it has stayed on the thread for about 3 hours. Posting now 9pm. and will catch up again tomorrow. Very tired. Off to the land of nod💤💤💤💜💜💜

Have you got a picture of your happy dress Purple??

    Hi all!
Oh, Gyps, that bird is priceless! I still have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard!😂 I hope OH enjoyed the burnt out corned beef and that Zelda enjoyed the pub…….way to go, girl!
Jade, ah, yes….the luck of the Irish; it’s a bloody myth! 😬 I used to enjoy much more action sports too, soccer and badminton. But a combination of clubs closing and getting a new job put an end to all that. I tried the gym for a while using all the various machines and I absolutely hated it. Then I tried some of the classes like step aerobics and hated those too…. I think I need a human target when I’m working out…..it must be my inner Celtic warrior! 😉
PH, how lovely to see you back here even though you’ll be off again soon on your travels. That is one lucky daughter you have, getting her decorating done and new clothes as well! You and OH sure are spoiling her….totally understandable, of course! I like the idea of a ‘happy dress’…..for me, it’s kicking off the shoes the minute I come in the door…..aaaah, bliss! 😌
AA, you are a very busy lady so don’t be too hard on yourself. You are doing what you can in a very full and active life. Remember this is a way of life and a marathon, not a sprint. Even the fact that you are here, making better choices and forming new habits is fantastic. The going up and down of the numbers is frustrating, I know, but with steroids etc playing havoc, I wouldn’t pay them too much attention. If your feet are bloated, then there is a lot of fluid retention going on as well. Keep the faith, you will get there! 💞❤️
SJ, what a lovely idea to go out for breakfast, just one more way to find joy in this new phase of your life. 😃😋 I’m so happy for you that the osteopath has been so successful for you and given you greater freedom and ease of movement. I’m sure you’ll continue to find a new rhythm of life that suits you, OH and your Garmin, of course! Xx 😇
CG, hope you’re having a great time with all the animals and that Danny enjoyed kicking up his heels…. I presume it was an Irish jig! 😉
Lovely and sunny again here today so I hope I can get out into it at some stage. I’m going to visit one of my brothers who is in hospital having had surgery for an aortic aneurysm. He is doing ok but got some post op infection…..life is a b***h at times!

Good morning -evening team, Fit I hope your brother recovers uneffected and quickly. Your weather sounds to have done a full turn for you, how lovely for you to be able to get out and enjoy it.
It’s still dark here, just gone 6:00am, but I’m going out early, hairdresser at 9:30 so by thre time I feed Danny then shower and a coffee ot two, the time soon goes. Awful night for sleeping, didn’t get under 25 and 29 + top expected today thank heavens for my ceiling fan 😉 to help sleep. Two big fires are burning too, so summer is having it’s last hit of terror before easing up. 143 homes have been lost through this season so it’s very heart breaking.
Gyps just loved the bird, I also checked out others on that link, all very clever and funny, in fact yours was shown on the Morning Show, totally bleeped though😀
Fasting today, hoping for the best, but feeling positive ☺️ With being up early after such a restless night and rain predicted mid arvo, I could be napping through the last part of the day, making a fast quite doable with ease 😉
Have a lovely day team, “Everyday has a new beginning, stay away from what could have been, and concerntrate on what CAN be” 😄💞xxxxxxx

    Mornin’ CG!
Yes, it’s been a lovely day today and I did get a long walk with the dog…..so that was good. My brother is improving slightly and just after we got back from visiting him, he was allowed home! I’m so glad because he will make a much better recovery at home. It must be very scary to have the risk of fires again, I hope there’s no more loss of life and property. Sorry to hear you didn’t sleep so well …..have a nanny nap and hopefully a better night tonight. Hope you enjoy the hairdresser’s! 😀💇

Oh what great news Fit, yes most people get better quicker once home 😃 Yeah, bad night, just the heat, I’ve been sleeping so well lately, in fact trouble getting up, so hopefully last night was a one off. It’s still quite muggy, very tropical weather, skies are black so ready for a thunder storm by the looks of things. Poor Lexie got her head stuck between two rainings in the fence when giving me her morning greeting, licks up my arms whilst I patted her, she was trying to get to my jammie pants😏 So between the two of us, got her out, just hope it’s a lesson learnt 😉💕xxxxxx the joys of animals, oh and Danny loved his early warm milk😜Xxxx

Oh, poor Lexie… I hope she didn’t get too much of a fright. You sure love spoiling your babies! 😃

Hi All CG you were up & about early but have to with your babies eh. I’m watching our babies aka baby galahs outside feeding & they’re so funny. Their colours are all motley pink & grey messes – they just don’t look right & they waddle very funny on the ground too when they’re looking for the seed we scatter. They don’t stand a chance with the feed bowls so they head for the ground.
Fit so glad you got a long walk in AND that your brother is now home. Better news at last for you…….it’s about time!!! Hope the surgery works a treat for him.
PH are your happy dresses the ones that have the elastic bra tops that you spoke about another time (when you got caught without your bra?)? Sound very simple and practical. Do they support you at all – I love to throw the bra off after dinner but would be hesitant to do it earlier unless it looked reasonable with boobs heading south!
Haha reading about all the exercise bikes. We eventually sold ours on our community noticeboard as it just sat and gathered dust. I found once I had bursitis in my hip that I couldn’t use it. We’ve bought 2 bikes now & the same thing happened so not doing that again!! We’re just NOT inside exercisers…we like the outdoors, apart from my aerobic type DVD’s.
Gyps I have a hundred and one things going through my head but need to let the ideas gel a bit first before I pick and choose. But hey what I don’t choose now I can do later can’t I??!!

Well nothing on the agenda today so that must mean a) that I’m retired and b) I can’t avoid the housework any longer! Damnit! Also have to tackle the ironing before it heats up again. I had a real feeding frenzy day yesterday & not sure why…popped all sorts of stuff into my mouth & did repeat visits to the pantry several times in the evening. Haven’t had a snacking night like that for a LONG time thank goodness. Oh well it’s over now & won’t happen for another long time I guess! Have a good day all and do something you love. suejen XXXX
PS It’s only 3 weeks now till the WTF …….WOW!!!

Yes, SJ, on count down now. Glad you are enjoying retirement.
I checked our room reservation at the oaks yesterday and did ask if it had a licenced bar in the building, the girl said they had 4 restaurants???? I found that odd since their add only states one coffee shop. It was ‘central’ booking office for all the same companies resorts scattered around the country, so maybe the girl got it mixed up, does any one know if we can get an Irish coffee on site for Paddy’s day? (Licenced venue on site). I really hope they have an ice vending machine as our room only has a small bar fridge.

Our weather is not so hot today. Nice breeze coming through the window. Haven’t got the aircons on yet. that’s a welcome change from the still, muggy weeks we’ve had. but the rains are late. I may be racing them to the airport. But we appear to have missed any backlash from the Figi cyclone.

Fit, glad you and CG had a laugh. Someone emailed that bird link to me and it was too funny not to share! Plus suited the occasion pretty much! Glad your Bro is over the worst, Fit. has to be something in the luck of the Irish to survive an aortic aneurism. Detection is pretty much everything there. good catch by his Doc.

My older Brother(by 18months) had heart surgery last year. Was such a relief when he came through and is well again. So we are still five, the four bros and me. I had a cardiac/respiratory arrest from severe pneumonia a few years back. It’s getting a bit like Russian roulette as we get older. So Confuscious say ‘make hay while sun shines’. I do think 5:2 is instrumental in extending life and certainly in a better state of health. 18 months ago I was more than 10 kgs heavier and had all the alarm bells going off, with type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance to the forefront. Today there is no sign of it and I can eat what I like, in moderation, on most days. Time to reflect and be grateful. I am, to you all, for sharing the path of our ups and downs together. And you keep it so well lit, CG. Sydney will certainly be the site of a toast or two to Madam President! Not to mention The Treasure and Lotus Flower (minister of tourism?). 3 weeks countdown starts today! Have a good day all xx gyps

SJ how glorious, nothing on the agenda…except to watch galahs, which I must now google. OH how gorgeous, a rose-breasted cockatoo?? I would keel over if I saw anything that beautiful in my yard, though the cardinals are quite pretty, if small. The squirrels keep competing for the seed I put out (lol having trouble typing on this thing, at first said the WEED I put out, no doubt there’d be a lot of competition for that). Gyps, the bird, omg, you crack me up. I think I learned a few new words. 😂 Birds on the brain here! 😜🐣 And Barb, I’m with Gyps on counting ANY homework as cardio. And let’s add pet care to that too, shall we. Though CG you win the prize there, your pets weigh hundreds of lbs.
Fit how grand to be out for a dog walk – can’t keep a good ninja down, can they! Nice weather again too, yay! Great news about your brother, so glad he is home now. CG hope your FD went well, I’ve found sometimes my best FDs are the ones that start a bit iffy, where I basically rescue myself from myself. Sort of like today! I didn’t sleep well due to a cold coming on, plus OH lecturing the dogs about where they should sleep (hourly lectures during the night, as if they can understand him!! Maybe he needs a good talk with Pebbles.)
PH I too want to know what a happy dress is. And then I want to wear one! I would settle for happy undies at this point, this week is going to kill me. Students are gripy, one told me today that he just didn’t understand anything I had said. (Ever??) Well. It is going to be a long 3 years for you, isn’t it. I’m going to knock myself out now w/ cold meds and call it a day. Goodnight all 💕 💊💊☠👃🤒😴
    YO Gyps, we crossed. 🙌

Hi team, think I’ve blown my fast already. Wasn’t happy with the hairdresser (for a change- she did a few dark foils as I’m naturally fair, to show my highlights…mmmm) then shopped, came home to unpack and virtually taste tested everything I bought, from cold cuts to fruit!….then….., nothing would fit in the fridge. Think I got up too early, so will have a nap later, and try to get out the other side! Grrrrr, so mindset not working today. I’ll log into MFP and see what damage I’ve done, could be salvageable but doubt it! Winge over 😀 It’s very hot and muggy now, the sprinkling of rain over night has added to the humidity but a change is expected later today. I have a few “happy” dresses, but we used to call them “shifts” or ” moo-moo’s” so I can go braless quite easy, especially now I’m not as heavy and worry about the sweat and rash that used to happen. Unsure if that’s what PH means, but I’m happy in them….if I’m cool 😀 So off to do a bit of tidying up, then maybe a nap in front of the aircon ☺️ Chat later 💕Xxxxx

    Hi all.
As requested by Barb Will post a photo of my simple happy dress when I get it off the line. Decided to wash them before I packed To soften them up a bit. I think I have mentioned them before SJ ..if you can imagine an A line skirt or a 4 gore skirt with just a little bit of fullness and a little bit of shape at the waist band. . Measure the length from under your arm to the desired length. Join the ltwo or four seams. I use about 2″ elastic for the top band so cut a piece of the stretch fabric twice as wide with allowance for seems and measuring the same as around your body under your arms, less about 1″ Before you add the band to the top of the dress lay it down On the ironing board, or whatever you use, and take about 3″ off the centre back top to nothing under the arms. This allows for the fact that the band sits on top off your breasts at the front but lower across the back. It is then just like adding banding to anything. Then all you have to do is hem.
SJ. I to am heading south but don’t worry about that around the house. No support at all..just have a little jacket hanging on the back of a chair ready to pop on if someone comes to the door. When it is not stinking hot I wear the jacket all the time. Usually just use a plain cotton white or black shirt. Sou da like you are settling into retirement perfectly…sitting watching the birds without a care in the world…love it 🐧🐧🕊🕊🕊

Jade. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you with that student..📚📋📑. Maybe he needs a hearing aid.i. Assuming it is a he!! Oh well. I’m sure you will get through in the end…🎓🎓🎓👞👞👞Love the idea of happy undies😂😂😂. If you don’t sew you can be on the lookout for a stretch long skirt. With elastic at the waist. .or any long skirt for that matter that you can wear up over the boobs….works the same. I just make mine as they are so easy.

Anyway..disaster struck my purple skirt also. When I washed it after getting it out to the box all of the sheering stretched..so it looks like white 3/4 pants or slacks for me with a colourful top for the dinner.
    The best laid plans….😱😱😱

Gyps. Love the bird😂😂😂. I also hope there is somewhere,to get ice. Thinking of going to the nearest bottle shop or supermarket and getting a bag of ice like I usually do when I book in somewhere. We could keep it in the freezer section of the little fridges and then put some in your wheelie esky to take from room to room as needed!!! I usually travel with a small cooler bag for just that reason..I travel with my medications in it and then it doubles as a portable ice bucket….I have just the perfect size plastic container inside it to stop the leakage!, can’t have a drink without ICE🍹🍹🍹. Where there’s a will there’s a way!!
I’m sure we will be able to fine somewhere close that does Irish coffee🍀🍀🍀. If not I’m sure we could Improvise!!

Fit. So pleased it is sunny for you..you sound better? Also glad your Brother is home again. We are all getting older and having more problems so we really do need to make hay while the sun shines!!🌞🌞

CG your family sounds Like it is giving you a lot of joy…you really are a natural mother hen…so much love to give. The weather sounds nasty…It is hot here bot not as bad as you are getting it. Hope the fires do t cause too much trouble.

Well best get back to my packing. Getting close now..very excited. Hi to all those I have missed. Hope you are going well. Bye for now.💜💜💜

Ps I am fasting today and it is a bit of a challenge..but hopefully will get it done…the last for the week and then not sure what I will do while I am away. Just play it by ear…definitely will do one fast day with the aim of maintaining.

CG. Our posts crossed… What a bummer. You are usually so good..put it down to the heat..yes shifts do the job also..a happy dress is a dress you are happy in no matter what the type. Remember when they were called moo moo’s. And going bra less is the aim……I hope your day gets better after your nana nap and getting out the other side. And as you always remind us…there’s always tomorrow and don’t sweat the small stuff.. Put the air con on and have a long cool drink!!! Chill out and pamper yourself…always a disappointment when things don’t go as you want them at the hairdressers…one thing is for certain though..it will always grow out or fade so time will fix….and you have your beautiful baby to cheer you up…and your boys of course….🐮🐮🐶🐶🐕💕💕💜💜

Hi team, hi PH, you sound to be on such a permenant high since your daughter has moved close to you, how wonderful. The happy dress sounds ideal, I know exactly what you mean about using a long elasticed waist skirt to do the same thing, used to do it years ago over bathers 😃Well the nap helped, I was so over tired with little sleep and the early start, plus this oppressive heat, but all’s good 😉 And I’m on track with my fast, calculated it on MFP so should work out fine if I do a zucchini “pasta” for dinner 😊 I forgot to mention I also had a piece of cold fish from last nights dinner when making room in the fridge! Oh well, waste not want not aye? Time to feed Danny again, been a long day for him being fed so early, as of the week end I’ll start him on one feed a day, of course the feed will be bigger but also ensure he is eating his pellets (solids) which help fill him and get his tummy working ☺️ Chat soon, oh and PH, not to worry about your outfit, mine could change a half dozen times with my mind before the night as long as I match GG’s hat…☺️….. 🙄💞xxxx

Well as to outfits I looked everywhere for skirts, in every op shop I could find & KMart and nothing – except stuff that had holes in it already! So I too PH will probably be in white? pants & a bright colourful top that I have OR a dress that I have yet to take in that has a hanky sort of hemline at the bottom & does twirl nicely. Well maybe it will still twirl once I take it in? Not going to spend too much on just one night. Will still have fun in whatever I wear.
CG you’ve done well to rescue your day – good on you! You can’t have been too far off track then. XX

    WELL HELLO ADER’S
Arrived home today…..to very hot weather …where I been wsa hotter ! no seabreeze to keep us coasties cool.

I have 3 floral skirts that I can bring with me for the dinner cruise. They are size 14 to 16 if you would like to wear them PH AND SUE JEN?
PH I WILL SEND YOU THE PHOTOS AND IF YOU DON’T MIND POSTING THEM SO YOU CAN SEE.
    I” BE BACK LATER…….GO GALXXXXX

Just sent PH the skirts i will also have a look in the op shop in Forster if I find a suitable pattern .
PH I will look especially for a purple one……Go GAlxx

Yo, GG!! See you are still going a mile a minute! Great you’re back. Hope the course went well. You are such a generous powerhouse! Am feeling a bit guilty that I started all this hype about being in Miranda character for the cruise dinner. In the end it’s not mandatory, SJ, come in whatever makes you feel good. (if you would rather pretend you don’t know the ratbag element, you could be the sane person to phone Jade on our bail protocol….)Understandable if retirement hasn’t reached second childhood stage for you yet…but we can give you a crash course in that, no worries. Just bring undies, we’ll fix you up.

Purple! Great minds think alike! We’re a team! Do hope you’re planning to come North next year. Bring ya happy dress and we can let it all hang out! I certainly do here in the scrub. I have fringed sarong dresses, just squares of material poncho style, in cheerful colours. Am really loving the challenge to go city. Looking forward to the culture and the neon view. One should experience all our earth has to offer. So am toying with the idea of giving you Southern birds a real North of the equator adventure. We will discuss a tailor made adventure bus tour of the North. Including a barge crossing into the Daintree and day cruise into crocodile country (champagne glass in hand) But with evening comfort accommodation beach front, Maybe campfires and didgeridoos. Consider May or September. The two most beautiful times of the year in NQ. But first things first. PH, if you get there early, suss out the ice machine. I’ll be flying in late afternoon and on a run to get booked in and on time for dinner. If you find any green coke on your supermarket hunt grab me a six pack. I’ll bring the additive. Ooo! My aged batch of bourbon is soooo good! You know, just like nectar through wet socks….that inimitable JD Downunder flavour… I do believe I’ll have another. Just to test the quality, of course… enjoy whatever your evening brings forth team, tomorrow we fast! xx gyps

Hi all. Had a lovely phone conversation with GG and we decided to just go with the flow and just dress brightly coloured with lots of bling , dresses, skirts, 3/4 pants, slacks..whatever as long as we match those beautiful hats. GG has the feathers and so really looking forward to whatwe can create.. With Ggs help of course. I have looked up Carmen on the Internet and she used to wear a lot of tight slacks with colourful tops as well and if we feel like wearing loose slacks or even harem pants then who cares….whatever makes us bright, colourful and comfortable…..

SJ. So don’t sweat the small stuff as CG says…whatever you end up doing will be perfect…..💐🎉🎈💐🎉🎈

Gyps. You can trust me 👿👹haha. I will definitely look after making sure there is enough ice on hand. GG thinks that room service will provide. But will make sure. And there is a little store there I think so I will be getting, water, tonic water and soda water so will get your green Coke as well. …I will be arriving at the venue sometime around the time we can book in. Travelling from Camden by train then getting a taxi to the venue…have to arrive in comfort…then it is all about having a great time meeting and getting to know everyone. Planning to make use of the spa and the pool whilst there..baring my beautiful large body in my swimmers for all to admire…..will definitely be coming North next year! Would not miss it for the world. We can let it all hang out together in our happy dresses…Bringing it with me this time too..it goes everywhere IGo…

CG. Yes I am on a permanent high since D moved home. She is such a darling and does so much for us ,so for us to spoil her occasionally is great. She rang to tell me that the carpet was down and colour perfect..lovely so see her so happy. We are so lucky. 💜💕💜
Nice to see you salvaged the day..well done.. I too managed to get through within my cals so my last fast day done and dusted before my holiday.
..bags all packed and so house to tidy tomorrow, my cleaner is coming in to give the place a good clean the week before I get home..how good is that. She is going to spend some time doing an extra good job of the Kitchen as well and changing all the beds for me I. The house and the studio will be ready for the visitors arriving the day after I get home. a real treasure….💕💕 once again so lucky. That will leave me a full day of rest before we head off….it’s all coming together?.nite nite everyone 💤💤💤

Oh gyps. Your plans sound great for our northern adventure….we can have fun discussing the possibilities at WTF.. 🎉🎈🎉🎈🍹🍷🍸🐠🐊🐊🐊🐡🎸🎻 anyone play the guitar or similar for singalong,s round the campfire??

    Hi all!
I’m very late getting to post today as the internet has been very patchy and slow.
SJ, you really are taking the time to smell the roses (or listening to and watching the birds), aren’t you? It’s wonderful to be able to savour and appreciate every little simple pleasure that escapes our attention when we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enjoy it all. Even housework doesn’t seem like such a chore when you can do it at your own pace.
Gyps, my brother was indeed very lucky that the aneurysm was picked up in a heart check up. I’m glad your brother was well looked after too. I agree that this wol has many health benefits and I think we are doing the best we can for ourselves to dodge those Russian roulette bullets! I’m glad your weather is more pleasant. Your plans for 2017 sound heavenly, cross your fingers that I win the lottery and can be there! 👍😀🙏
Jade, I hope the rest of your students give you more hope than the one you mentioned or it will be a long three years for you too! 😦 I hope your cold doesn’t last but your OH owes you some nursing in return for your recent attention to him and his man-flu. 😇
PH, your happy dress sounds so comfortable but I’m afraid your instructions to SJ sounded like gobbledygook to me! 😃 Sorry your purple skirt didn’t survive the wash, but it sounds like there are lots of other options anyway. Just go with the flow, wear your headdress with pride, wiggle those hips and shake those maracas (and, no, that is not a code word for boobs! 😉) My neck has settled down again and I’m pain free, thanks. So, I’m going to try the ballroom dancing tonight, I just won’t be able to adopt the correct posture because that would set it off again. You have all your ducks in a row now for your trip, so sit back and enjoy!
GG, you are like a whirling dervish, so full of plans, fun and thoughtfulness…..well done for looking after everyone so well! 💞
CG, a new hairdo can take getting used to and it’s always good to try a change. As already said, it soon grows out even if you aren’t completely happy with it. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better after your nap and that you rescued your fast, way to go, fearless leader! 👍👌✊
I better grab some lunch before I go to my French class. Enjoy all that the day brings, you wonderful bunch! 😃❤️

Good morning ladies (gents) on this thread.
I am posting from a surprisingly sunny Scotland. I have been internet prowling, trying to get my head around how I am going to possibly get rid of the 15-20ks that I am so desperate to lose.

    Terrible for the Ol’ confidence!

This thread seems so positive and life giving. You are all making me homesick! I return to our beautiful shores in July, and want to have lost the bulk of it. I hope it is possible.

So, weigh in Friday’s, fasts on Monday/Thursday (had anyone here tried a 3 day fasting approach?! Thoughts?). I love the tone of this place and hope this helps me. I am a yoyo historically… With a portion size and snacking problem!!

Thanks for existing all of you!

    Wish me luck.

(Stats to start: 63.5 cm Thigh, 85cm waist and will post start weight tomorrow, but it is about 78 kgs, 174cms tall)

Hi Madruth and welcome! If you’re mad, you will indeed fit in here! What part of Oz are you from or returning to? The reason I’m replying to you at this time is because I live in Ireland but these fantastic people have adopted me!! We’ve been having some unexpected and rare sunshine too but it’s quite cold. Most of us fast Monday and Thursday and weigh in on Friday but you can adapt that whenever you need. It’s a very flexible way of life. Your stats are not over the top for your height so I don’t think you have as much to lose as you think. I’m 170cm and weigh 66/7kg…..if I lose about 5kg, I think that would be OK, any more might be too scrawny. Fasting three days per week doesn’t seem to work a whole lot better than two, but there are others here who can advise you better on that. Portion size definitely decreases with this eating pattern but personally, I’m still finding snacking a problem on non fast days! Ask any questions you want and we’ll all try to help. Have you read the book and worked out your TDEE (the amount of calories you’re allowed to eat on non fast days)? It’s explained in the How it Works tab at the top of the page. Drink lots of water too, because you may be thirsty not hungry a lot of the time! Best of luck 😀👍

    Hi Fittoretire!
Excellent to have a northern hemisphere person too!
I am from Armidale NSW originally, but will return to Emerald QLD in July where my folks are.
I have a goal weight of anywhere between 60-65 kgs. I have been there before and felt so well.
I am glad that the portion size thing gets better. I hope it does fairly rapidly. Thanks for the TDEE prompt. I last calculated it at about 1500 cal.
How have you gone with this method? Does it work for you? How long/how much progress have you made? (Seeking motivation here!).
Thanks for the welcome. I am so glad to have stumbled across this.
    Mad
    (In name and in spirit!!)

Correction: TDEE 2439 and BMR 1545.
    Good to know…
    Thanks! MR

is high intensity interval training the best method to lose weight fast?

Hi again, MR! Over the last year, I lost about 7kg but have put back on about 6! I got complacent and careless about non fds and let my snacking derail me. I’ve also had several family crises and just couldn’t face fasting. Then, I completely overindulged at Christmas too. However, my saving grace has been sticking with these amazing people on this thread and bit by bit, I’m getting my mojo back slowly but surely and I’d like to get to 60/1kg before the end of June. But there are so many more ladies here who have done much better than me and are brilliant examples of how successful this wol (way of life) can be.

    Hey Fit,
Let’s be the northern hemisphere reps and do ourselves proud!
I snatched a pair of scales today and will do my first weigh in tomorrow to get the ball rolling. I think I am doing consecutive 2 day fast this week so that this week counts. The next weigh day will be next Friday.
I completely empathise with how much stressors like family crises, work, just ‘too much going on’ in general can derail things. That is how I have ended up in this place.
I hope for your sake that life is normalising somewhat and you feel ready to take the reins again.
I am barracking here for you. And will do my best to do the same for myself.
My one worry with it all is the amount of work travel coming up… I hope it doesn’t all fall apart and become yet another let down.
But, the thing that rocks about this thread is the positive people. And I want to emulate that.
    So, let’s (i’ll) do this!!
    Sleep well.
    MR

Good morning/evening team, how did the dancing go Fit, did you pull through unscathed? I hope you did as I know how much you enjoy it. It’s still quite muggy here, 28 expected with some showers, so life is pretty lazy and the energy drained 😏 But soldiering on in true blue form.
Ruth welcome to our team, you will certainly see results, especially just doing two fasts a week and staying with or below your TDEE. Portion control is a very helpful tool, so start by using a smaller dinner plate/bowl, as we feel the plate needs to look full. Most of us have seen those frozen meals in the supermarket and think how mean! But that is really a good size portion. It will happen in time, and bit by bit, just try cutting out a few biscuits with your evening coffee. Before you know it you wont have any, I don’t eat breakfast, haven’t since 5:2 and that means seven meals a week I’m not having. In the 18 months on 5:2 I have lost close on 30k so it really does work. Logging in daily is an incentive too to keep going. If you download My Fitness Pal, it calculates your daily cals, it’s free and very easy to use. Our theme AUSSIE DETERMINATION is exactly what we have and give each other. Good luck and welcome aboard.
Homecare due at 8:30 this morning, new girl, new time, so better shower so as not to scare her! I know I’ll get used to the darker shade in my hair, ….in time, seems to have a gold instead of ash through it, and lets face it, we get used to what we see in the mirror. 🤔
If you are fasting today, BRING IT ON, you ARE stronger than you think, you know the benefits and the pride you feel when you get into bed tonight when its all done😃
Have a positive day team 💕😀xxxxxxx

Ruth, you CAN DO IT😃 Doing a B2B can be difficult, so if you faulter in the second half, don’t be hard on yourself, even if you just do one this week, as a trial, it’s better than last week!😉Xxxxx

Mornin’ CG! The dancing went well but I came home a bit early so as not to overdo things. Hopefully I’ll still feel as good in the morning! Everyone was so nice, telling us that they had missed us….they’re a lovely bunch. Take care of yourself in that muggy weather, it really drains the energy. It was minus 1.5 degrees as we were coming home from the dance class! Brrrr! 😨
MR, yes we can represent the northern hemisphere along with Jade who is a regular here from the USA. Life has settled down a lot, thanks for your kind concern. I hope life is kind to you too and that you feel in control. You can bring your good habits with you wherever you go on your travels. In fact, when you’re busy it can be easier to fast. Unless you have to do business lunches or wine and dine clients? Fit in the fasts where you can, but don’t stress about it. Remember, this is a marathon not a sprint! 👍😃

Hi Fit, I just logged on to send out a COOOEEE! Where is everyone??? I’m so pleased for you enjoying being back at dancing, and not at all surprised you were missed😀 I weighed in this morning, have done two fasts this week, and sitting exactly on 71.5k so up a bit since last week, but did get the 70k to show last week and expect it to play silly games with me before it becomes the norm😏 But IT WILL HAPPEN☺️ It’s turned out quite cool this morning, not cold like you have, but the humidity has gone and thats a blessing 😊 Quite overcast, almost smokey, so must be fires around, I was in shorts and t/shirt when I fed Danny boy, but have put a skirt on as the breeze around my pins was a bit cool😟 Enjoy your evening sweet one and how lovely to have someone else in your time zone 💕☺️Xxxxx

Just thinking Fit, it wouldn’t hurt to use your heat pack on your neck as a precaution? I have the house wide open letting the cool air blow through, the boys have flaked in the cooler weather out of relief ☺️ Xxxx

Oh and I’ve left Danny out in his corral so he can communicate with Lexie and he was kicking and jumping enjoying the cooler air too, but spent a lot of time picking himself up, his feet are having problems with coordination hehe 😀, he’s so funny, as he trots past, the milk in his tummy jiggles/gurgles around 😊💞xxxxx

Great minds think alike, CG……am just putting the heat pack on now before I go to bed! Glad to hear that the weather is more comfortable. Enjoy your day with your gorgeous menagerie! Xx❤️

Holy cowz…what a party this thread is today! Welcome Ruth, indeed it helps to be mad around here. I’m one of the yanks who’s wormed my way in, my only claim to Aussie-ness is a mini-Aussi shepherd and a bitchin’ hard head aka determination. I’m still after my “last 5” but have been chasing them since before the holidays. However, in any other year, I’d be chasing them and around 15 of their friends, so 5:2 definitely works.
I can’t help but think how much fun this crowd would have in the French Quarter in New Orleans, dressed as Carmen Miranda or whatever random bird walks into your yards. Might mistake all of us for female impersonators 😳! SJ I totally agree no skirts with holes in them, but white pants are tres chic. Ah…I’m so excited for you all. Too bad the planet is too big to have a progressive WTF tour. Beignets in the French Quarter, lunch in Dublin, cocktails and dinner all over Australia….a girl can dream. Someone wise said that to me just the other day! Yes you ::CG:: 😎
Fit, you must be all tuckered out from dancing again. How wonderful to be back and be missed- hope you are sleeping well and no worse for wear. 170 cm gad you’re a tall one aren’t you! I’d pay good money for some height, but I’ve shrunk from a high of about 5’3. About as high as a garden gnome now.

PH you’re a trouper, making sure there there’s ice and mixers for the gang. No worries with the law, ladies, just flaunt those headdresses and I’m sure you’ll get nothing harsher than a warning. Though as Gyps experienced a while back, you might get a few propositions as well! Remember, safety in numbers!! Buddy system for all potty breaks. Yes, this is your lawyer/mother talking. Someone has to be sober, and it might as well be the yank.
Oh can’t bear the after-dinner news here, everyone has Trump fever…talk about WTF. I think some more cold meds are in order 💊so I can go to bed and pretend it’s not happening. GG send me one of those skirts so I can join the party over there!
Keep the excitement going, ladies – I love it!! 💕💜💐💃 jade xxxxx

Oh Jade, it’s such a joy to read your posts😃 Always a delight, and it is a shame you can’t join the reunion/tour🙄 But we know you’ll be there in “spirit” as we toast you 😊 And will all our honorary members, golly, it’ll be a taxi home that night! Doubt we could walk after all the toasts! As with height, I was always 5’5″ but when I went for my spinal surgery and they did my charts, I’m now 5’4″ so shrinking with age, fortunately thanks to 5:2 it’s not just height that’s shrinkng 🤔
Sweet dreams Jade, you must be ready for the cot soon 💞😇xxxx

Morning/afternoon all sorry I tried to post earlier on but obviously my coffee hadn’t kicked in & I had typed it all in as an email reply……DUH. And not smart enough yet to copy & paste on my android phone so had to toss it. Anyway here I am back from pilates. Had to join in with a more advanced class as my other ladies are all away. Was veeereee interesting. All young mums! Had one exercise where you put your feet into a foot strap, slowly bend backwards over a box as far as you can go and then……..scoop that tummy in & bring yourself slowly up again. Hahahaha ….she eventually found me stuck on my back going ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE and said Oh Sue you can grip your thighs if you like! It was a bit of fun & may be in that class again as my ladies are still away. It was funny listening to the other ladies saying Ooh feel that burning & I’m thinking Mmm not really! So obviously I’m not using the same muscles yet or going into the exercises as deeply!!

CG I sure am shrinking too I think it’s 5’3 1/2″ now….don’t forget the half that’s very important. But hey my lovely old mum never ever made it to 5′! Danny sure is giving you a load of joy at the moment. Can just picture him kicking up his heels with the milk sloshing around inside! One happy as little calf.
Jade can’t you find one of those legal conferences that you have to attend for PD in Sydney next year around that time…all expenses paid??? But I suspect the law fraternity may frown upon such activity? Jade OH keeps telling me about what Donald Trump has done & I tell him to go away & keep quiet…..I do not want to hear about his successes or anything else! He says he has some good points going for him. I just can’t understand him – he’s usually got a good head on his shoulders (OH that is!). Agree to disagree on that one!! During the WTF I think we should have your number on speed dial in case we need to call you!!!Hek to the expense of overseas calls…we want a good lawyer!! 🙂
Fit hope the heat pack helped any niggles with your neck & that you wake up feeling fine. Lovely for you to get back into a modified version of what you love 🙂
Ruth by your user name you sound like you’ll fit right into our little group. Gee if we got you and Gypsy together there could be trouble!! All the best with your first fasts – believe me they get easier with each one you do. And ALWAYS try a glass of water first if you reckon you’re dying of hunger. It took me a long time to realise that I was actually thirsty and didn’t need any food right then.
Ooh so Gyps is going to give me a crash course in retirement aka second childhood now THAT should be interesting, especially the Bring the undies part!!!

Oh forgot the big news that I’d typed up. I hit well over 10000 steps yesterday with a good walk with OH. Have also used the tiny little beep alarm that it give you after being inactive for too long as a signal to get up and walk around the house/yard, at least 200 steps at a time. Also did some jogging on the spot (light jogging!) but after a few efforts my left knee was telling me NOT TO TRY IT AGAIN so I didn’t & won’t. Just walking for this little birdie. Now the Garmin will reset my goal to even more…..that could be a challenge.

Have a good day folks especially if you’re fasting like me today. Are you all planned and prepared and ready to resort to your persistence and perseverance to push you through to the end of the day? Ruth that’s our 4 P’s that we refer to. Planning & preparation most important of all. Now heading over to MFP to log my day so I know I’ll be OK by the time my head hits the pilow. suejen XXXX
