Aw, how cute and cosy does your cat look Jade…..just the idea for how to spend a lazy Sunday! What a life! 😀🐱

Oops I meant bon voyage to Up, not you Fit – brain is a bit foggy today 💬 Yes we love our old cats, they don’t do much besides sleep and eat but well, why not.
My garden shovel must have lent itself to someone, I couldn’t find it anywhere – but being a determined old thing I did find a snow shovel and chainsaw. I was definitely prepared for moles had there been an uprising! But I just fought an old tree and some roots and vines, cleared a side patch that could grow something but it’s just s strip, not very scenic. I was dreaming of an ornamental garden, with circles of various veggies and herbs and mulched paths and such. Might wise to go buy a proper shovel first 😅
Watching the cyclone’s projected path, fingers crossed for all of you in Australia. xx
ps we crossed, CG, good morning to you! ☀️ why am I not surprised you worked until the wee hours…and so creative! Enjoy the lovely weather, it’s grand here too 🌞✨💐🌷🌹xxx
Mornin’ CG, great to hear that the weather is so lovely out your way. I’m not jealous….much! 😉😃 Glad that Danny is thriving under your excellent care but I hope he doesn’t keep you from the pool for too long! The carers who are paid for by the state don’t get enough time to take my sister out for coffee but the privately paid one could, so that is something we are going to ask her to do. However, my sister is suffering from tummy troubles at the moment and we are bringing her to a consultant on Thursday, so outings for coffee will be on hold for the moment. Sounds like you’ve been bitten by the creative bug as well……altering clothes and designing new outfits. I know what you mean about not needing anything new, but it never stops me looking and buying) when I shouldn’t! 😄😊
Have a fantastic week and enjoy the fine weather and getting to know your new ‘baby’ better! 🐮💞
I have a few lazy days as I havd had an earache which throws out my balance. I have still managed to lose a 1.5 kgs for the week (59.4kgs) but the waist measurement is refusing to shift. It is still inches away from being in the healthy range.
I have enjoyed the cooler weather but it looks as if we are going to have a few days of hotter weather to get through first. I am jealous of the green grass for Anny as ours hays off in November and wont come back until the first soaking rains of autumn. This is why most of our plantings are done early in the year to get a lot of growth on before summer. My winter job is to clean out the shed as I went looking for my battery charger and couldn’t find it. It will be nice to have everything in its place once I get the shelves made up. Hopefully no more lost tools.
Girls, where there’s a will, there’s a way 😜💪 I’m not much with a needle and thread but pretty handy with a chainsaw. Just as well I did some tidying before actually digging anything. I’m sure the neighbors are used to my antics – today I had on black leggings and t-shirt with an old sweatshirt, but the sweatshirt soon had to go. With the black sunglasses and chainsaw I was quite the ninja gardener ⚔ well, not as dangerous as that Fargo business with the wood chipper 😱 eek. Though chain sawing roots is probably not too smart. Keep that advice coming CG I usually have more stamina than sense 😉 xx
Hi all. I’ve been flat our busy trying to get all the bits and pieces organised before we leave tomorrow. I’m going to be MIA for about a month, possibly more. I just want to wish you all happy 5:2 ing. I’m sure I’m going to have a few extra kilos to lose once we get back again. I’ve no intention of trying to diet while we are away. There are too many family and friends to catch up with and most involves food and wine!
For those of you going to the WTF reunion, have a wonderful get together. Be sure to take lots of photos.
See you later.
XX Doggy
Bon voyage, Dawg…..have a truly wonderful time and enjoy every second. I can’t remember where you’re going, sorry! I know it’s overseas. I hope all your travels are safe and without annoying delays. I’m sure you’ll still be able to make lots of healthy choices and use portion control if you feel like it. It will be fascinating to hear all about it when you get back. Take care xx 😃👍🚖🚋✈️⛴🚁🛳
Morning all I’m enjoying just sitting here watching the drizzly weather…and enjoying the fact that I DON’T have to go out in it to work! YEAH!!
Dawg wishing you a safe and lovely holiday catching up with family & friends. Catch up with 5:2 when you get back. Have a WONDERFUL time!!! Be active when you can and that will help. {{{ }}}
Jade you got your picture up good on you. Now…did you know that if people click on the link in your email (not on the forum) they will be able to see all your photos? This may not be what you want but…..I did see a pic of a lady holding a cup of coffee – was that you????? Sorry for being so nosy! There is a setting that you can pick in Photobucket that stops this happening. Go to Settings & you’ll find it. Time for a visit to the hardware store for you methinks.
CG you are a busy little beaver crocheting away. It sounds nice! And your Danny boy is getting the best of care form you of course. But soon he’ll reward you with licks & cuddles – hope he learns to be gentle soon. XX
Well the weather took care of my plan for day one. I had planned to get up and go to the beach for a swim….brrrrr…too cold for sure. By the end of this week the weather is looking much better. The garden will be pretty wet but I might venture out into it. Also have to go look for that long skirt – maybe that’s a better plan for a wettish day & I can browse at my leisure. My morning coffee is over so time to rock and roll. Oh also have to get my Garmin Vivofit on for a full day – haven’t managed to do that yet. It wasn’t quite the fitting accessory for my birthday dinner on Saturday! & yesterday was just busy busy. So let’s see how many steps we get in today. Have a good FD all. Jade I think I’m about ready like you to put the scales away or at least ignore them for a while. They do NOT encourage me. suejen XXXX
Hey SJ – yes that’s me! Always with the coffee ☕️ And I had no idea about clicking on the photo so thank you for the info! I’m a bit clueless at tech stuff in general. Some day I expect to wake up and find the machines have taken control.
I love the euphoria you’re describing – is it just too wonderful not to have those demands, to be able to do whatever you like!? I am not far behind you! Though honestly, teaching at the grad level is not nearly as hard as a set schedule. I can alter my day except for classes, heck I can alter them too if I have to, so that is a luxury I didn’t have in any other job. Recognize these usual suspects?⏱⏲⏰🕰 Lol.
Oh my, all that ninja shoveling has left me stiff as a board. And I haven’t even bought a real shovel yet! Instead, I used up the rest of the sunlight today by taking the puppies on a walk around town. CG I have no manure but guess I can buy some (does dog/cat poop count? We’re all stocked up on that!). Maybe I should invest in a calf just for the garden 🐮🌿😍💕 xxx
Hi TAL (we always shorten everyone’s name) good to see someone else from WA. No not at my goal yet have another 5 kilos to go but have been on a plateau for quite a while but maintaining. Seems to have happened to most of us along the way! Have you just started and where in WA are you? We’re a very friendly bunch so stick around and ask any questions you want. We discuss all sorts of things here!
Jade how lovely to see your face – about time too! Everyone if you want to see Jade!! click the link in your email notifications that talks about her cat. It will take you to her Photo bucket then click along her photos. You can’t do it from the forum.
Byee for now sj xx
Hi SJ, I believe we started 5:2 at the same time back in August 2014 – if I’ve I remembered your name correctly. I managed to lose 24kgs, about 19 of it attributable to 5:2 (with two longish plateaus along the way, as you say). I started at 83kgs and I’m now maintaining between 59 and 60kgs on one fast day a week. (It’s a work in progress as I lose weight with 2 FDs a week but it’s a struggle to stay under 60kgs on just one).
I continue to post on the SH thread to try and help others and, in the last few months, joined in the maintenance chatbox thread. I live in South Perth and meet a couple of other posters on the SH thread for coffee now and then. If you’re ever in Perth or Fremantle, we’d love it if you could join us sometime. And anyone else from the area of course.
Morning All, all is calm. Raining here today, no cyclone warnings current. Am fasting and so is Gawdmuther. We are on track for WTF. Planning to ring and check our reservation in the next few days. Jade, Gawd was chain sawing when I phoned, too. We do seem to have an abundance of versatile and independent women on this thread.
Bon voyage to UP and Dawg. Have a great time!
Jade! great Cat! So now we need a photo of YOU! Black cats are my thing. My old darling died last year (was 15yrs) not getting anymore animals til I know what the Leprechaun is up against health wise. So far so good. Next MRI in May.
CG. not sure 30 degrees is what I’d call good gardening weather! but I suppose we get more humidity up here. It’s a steam bath ATM. The sun is coming out through low cloud and there was just enough rain to make everything soggy enough to boil! Great fungus growing weather. Mildew is the scourge of life in the tropics. Every bit of dust turns to mud in the humidity and grows like a petri dish.
Looking at clothes for Sydney involves prayer that the weather permits me to finally justify my shopaholic tendencies, too! Really peeved when I found some of them had mildew spots. Hoping A clothes drive happens locally for Figi disaster. I’m sure those poor folk won’t mind a few minor spots, and some even still have new tags. grrrr. Just goes to show how few occasions I have to get dolled up! But I do have an abundance of such. My last retirement dabble in the workforce (a few years ago, as live in infirmarian at a Marist Bro’s boarding college) involved setting an example to young ladies and gentlemen in training, and lots of chapel appearances and parent interviews. My old Gran’s law on ‘knowing how to walk the dog’ was pretty valuable to me, so I passed it on where ever possible. Versatility is everything in life, I think.
Doncha’ just luv it when you can come up with the goods and shock the pants off some eejit who puts a tag on ya? I’m a little rusty, but ole Zelda is quite looking forward to donning peacock feathers and strutting the boards of Sydney town! Likely comes under ‘more arse than class’, but sometimes in life, it’s a matter of ‘frock up and front’ or ‘fail by fear’. And a little Vaudeville never goes astray. Especially on lubricating the funny bones. (What else do the aging have to ward off the dismissive glazing over of young eyes on our wrinkles?).
I really dig unveiling the old lady under the helmet when I park the bike around cocky young guns. Way to get their attention! Worked wonders on my ironsides rep when it came to policing schoolboy footballers on health issues. Learning to respect the aged didn’t hurt them none, either. I used to don the leathers and lairize something shocking. Like leading their excursion busses up the hairpin pends of the tableland ranges, while they all drooled over my purple beast! There were no shirkers when it came time to learning first aid and I always took the sixteen year olds for road rule classes as an extra. I really enjoy young people and aiding their road to independence was my favourite occupation. (anyone’s road actually – especially hypochondriacs and pessimists). I had several stints of college nursing over the years (11 years all up most while my boys were students, to pay their fees after my farmer husband went to the wall and lost everything, including me,eventually).
I was mid sixties when I took up the Marist college position. Just to keep my nursing registration up, and because my bachelor son was sports master/dormy and lived in, too. We had a few lovely years terrorizing the children together on campus, before he moved on to Pro tennis coaching. I retired again to care for the Leprechaun and take him in, when the dreaded cancer struck. Three years and healthy scrub dwelling and we’re winning so far. He’s independent of care at this point in time. I’m about ready for a life celebration, girls. BRING IT! Cheers! from both of us…..
Well started a bit late putting my Garmin on so have only done 7000 steps. Gee it takes a lot to do 10000. I did an exercise video to get it up but still not there & I think my get up and go has got up and gone now!
Very quiet day on the forum today. ADers where are you all? Of course we have 2 away gallivanting for a while or nearly so. Anyone else around??? Oh GG I think is busy with 2 weeks of study courses or similar. CG is probly pretty busy with Danny. Jade and Fit are you up yet?
Gyps I can so totally see you digging the unveiling of the old lady under the helmet on the bike kinda thing! I bet you’d take it off real sllooow and make sure you have the young guns attention – then you could have the last laugh!!! Boy you’ve certainly had some life experience haven’t you…no wonder you’re so wise. 🙂
Of course seeing it’s 8pm here most of you east coasters are probably in bed now. So PH I forgot..sorry……you’ve already left on your trip too haven’t you to see your gorgeousness of a GD! Hope we hear from you when you have a minute. G’night all & will talk tomorrow. FD went well ended up just under 500 as bought myself a sit-down coffee this afternoon right about the time of the buses……and just sat there & enjoyed it!! No rush….take your time…nowhere to go…read a magazine etc. hehe suejen XXXX
Hi SJ, I’m here 😀😀😀 just bid my D & GCs goodbye after making them sate chicken with Singapore noodles….yum, yum. They have been away for a week so I thought she wouldn’t want to cook after driving all day to get home. Of course I had some, not even putting it into my MFP diary. I just don’t want to know.
I started out this week with all good intentions of riding my stationary bike for at least 30 minutes a day. So far 10 minutes yesterday and nothing today. I am on a roll. Speaking of rolls, when you lose weight do the tummy rolls come off too? They seem to be there for the duration 😢😢😢. Night/morning all Barb xxx
Hi all! Very late getting to post today because I had no electricity and therefore no internet. A faulty water heater was tripping the circuit breaker so luckily an electrician friend came over and identified the problem. Now I have to get a plumber to fix the immersion…..fun or what?
Gyps, you have indeed led an amazing life so far…..lots more to come I’m sure! Look out Sydney! I’m sure you caused many a young man to do a double take when you took off your helmet! 😳 Your little leprechaun is very lucky to have you in charge of looking after his health…..he’s in the best hands. Hope the worst of the weather stays away from you xx
SJ, I’m sure you will find it easier and easier to work extra steps into your day as time goes on so don’t get disheartened. Isn’t it just wonderful not to have to answer an alarm clock ever again? Woohoo! Enjoy the bliss of turning over in the morning for an extra snooze or hopping out of bed just to have a lazy breakfast, shower etc. Happy days! 😋😎😃
Jade, hope you get time to have a nice relaxing and restorative bath to soothe those aching muscles. Take care, dear friend…..you don’t want to end up an old crock like me! 😉
TAL, I’ve seen your name on other threads. It’s very nice of you to pop in and say hello and it’s very encouraging to hear about a successful maintainer! Well done 😀
CG, hope Danny is behaving himself and not causing too much jealousy amongst the rest of the family! It’s a beautiful sunny day here for a change so I’m hoping to get out for a nice long walk with the mutt. It’s quite cold but at least it’s dry! The forecast says we are to have four dry days in a row……woohoo, a miracle! 😃😎🌞☀️
I’m fasting today and feeling good, nothing but green tea, black coffee and water so far today, it’s almost 1pm. Must have a good weigh in on Friday and get back on the downward trend again. Have a good week everyone and hope all our travellers are having the time of their lives! 💞😀
Didn’t get out for my walk after all as we ended up arranging to meet the new agency carer for my sister who will be filling in for one of the ladies who is out sick. Maybe get out tomorrow instead. My fast went pretty well today but I didn’t count calories…maybe I should get back to using MFP and it might keep me on track. Hope any fasters have done well and will keep up the good work for the rest of the week.
Mornin’ CG, no worries! Water heater all sorted and the new carer is really nice, so it’s been a productive day. 😀 Glad you had a nice lie in, it will help you with that hot day ahead. I’m sure you have reset your lower end of the weight see-saw, and you will see that 70 again soon.
Barb, have you checked out the Fast Exercise book which describes how to do HIIT (high intensity interval training). You do very short bursts of really flat out exercise with breaks in between. It might suit you and your exercise bike. Best of luck!
Hahahaha FIT you are funny. It helps to actually get on the bike. I’m like CG I have to dust it off before I start my work out and by then I’m over it. That bike just sits there taunting me, reminding me how lazy I am. I put a seditary lifestyle on my MFP profile and that’s exactly what I am I’m ashamed to say. I hate exercise, gyms etc. and the only exercise I get is housework or walk to the shops. I wonder, does sewing and ironing count? Barb xx
I’m with you there Barb! I don’t like exercise either 😒 I walk the dog from time to time but our weather has been just awful for ages, so that has gone by the wayside. I do ballroom dancing once a week but you don’t really work up a sweat at that! I’m going to investigate yoga/Pilates type class because I want to become increase flexibility and strength before I seize up! 😉
