  • Yes they are CG I have suffered for about 30years now. I’m afraid it’s hereditary in my family and sadly my children and my grandchildren and now complaining of horrific headaches. Disprin is aspirin so it must be commonly know within the medical field although this is the only doctor that has suggested it in all these years. I could kiss her 😘😘

    Thanks GG

CG, glad to hear about the improvement in your leg and hope your migraine doesn’t develop into a cluster. Poor Indy, just doesn’t want to be left out of the fun!
Barb, hope Bert’s tip works for your machine. Definitely not worth washing rags in future but with all the weight loss, you’ll have lots of old clothes to cut up for more rags, so no worries!

You are a funny girl FIT

    GG, you’re most welcome xx
My daughter suffers from migraine too, my MIL too and she has tried lots of different meds to no avail so I must tell her about the aspirin. No doctor has told her that as far as I know. It’s worth trying I’m sure.

    Barb, I bet I’ll be right too!😀

Managed to maintain weight for the week. Not helpful with the extreme heat and seeing all the rain slip away to the south or north. Finally got some soaking rains yesterday last lot was Christmas eve. Hopefully will be able to get back out in the garden and potter around.

Hello everyone. Barb i apologise for not getting back to you re Dilston. I don’t think there are any fires in that area but they will probably be affected by all the smoke. It’s awful for people with respiratory diseases. The Tas fire website is very good and it’s easy to find if you google it. GG re your fluctuating weight. Have you checked your weight on another set of scales? It could be your that are iffy. I have manged to lose almost a kilo in two weeks so must be happy with that. My measurements are static though and I’d so love to lose some of that beer gut look that sits just below the boobs. It’s just a month today that we leave for South Africa and I’d love to be able to shed some more blubber. I found that I lost almost a kilo a week when I first started and I optimistically thought I’d be down to my ideal weight in about six months. How wrong I was. Our metabolism does get used to out food intake and it does become more difficult to lose the weight as time goes by. However, as our dear CG often reminds us. It’s a marathon not a sprint.
A friend gave me some lovely fresh green beans yesterday and instead of steaming them as usual I made a green bean salad. It was very yummy and I’m looking at doing it with other veg too. I’ll put it on our recipe site later if anyone’s interested.
CG I enjoyed our “chat” last night during the cricket. Pity the Stars lost. Now I’ll have to find another team to support.
A perplexing , tragic event happened in Hobart a day or so ago. A pregnant woman was killed when her car was involved in a collision with another car. The driver of the other car was 15!!and attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended. Bloody hell. Anyhow according to the news, doctors manged to save the baby. My question is how did the foetus get oxygen if the woman was dead? ie no oxygen passing through the umbilical cord from the placenta? I guess I’ll never know unless she was still alive when they performed an emergency Caesar. The media doesn’t always get its facts right of course.
    🎼🐕🐾🌴❤️❤️❤️

Very sad Doggy, but God has his own way of working 😊🌷xxxx

Hi all. Looks like quite a few of us had sleepless nights. Don’t get stressed about it though now as I don’t have to get up and go to work and can sleep in till I wake up. One of the benefits of retirement 💤💤
I finally realised that an evacuation centre is where they are taking people to so that are safe…dur….so no more worries about the kids. Hope things improve soon though down in Tasmania.
My OH would me give all others a run for their money in the messy stakes. Never puts anything away and the place is always untidy. I love it when he goes away for a few days and everything stays tidy…however he makes up for all of that by cooking dinner most nights and doing the shopping. Possibly could save quite a bit of money if I did the shopping but he likes doing it and I hate it….so…….also washes his own clothes so quite lucky really.

Jade, hang in there..your loss will come. I’ve decided to just go with the flow for a few days and have some carbs to see if I can kick start myself again once I go off them again..was not eating enough on my non fast days. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Just about to head off for the day doing the round of 2nd hand shops to see if we can pick up some interesting g stuff with Daughter and her guests. OH just loves going through old stuff and so do we.
    Talk to you all tonight.

OMG!!!!!!! It is my turn to have IPAD woes. Sorry I have not read all post but just skimmed through as there were so many since I was on. I am now on my husband’s laptop. We are all Apple in this household. Mac computer, laptop and my poor IPAD. I feel like my world is cut off. Bit dramatic I know. It has been freezing how and again but on Friday it just would not stop freezing. Only on for about one or two minutes but sometimes literally seconds, freezes, reboots, freezes, reboots……… I went onto Apple Support Chat for help. She said she could see I had an old iOS, 8.2 and I told her I had not done the updates because people had so much trouble. She said I should update and had I read the Apple Disclosure re updates. I had not but can imagine what it says. She told me to back everything up first. I am backed up to a certain extend in iCloud but don’t have a lot of memory without buying more so she said to back up to iTunes which is free and then do the update. Well that is okay if you can keep the dashed IPAD on!!!!! We tried to back up to iTunes via the Mac but I don’t think it worked. It did, however, back up to iCloud again so that is up to date. The IPAD then automatically updated to iOS 9.2. I thought it was going to be okay because it stayed on for a bit but was VERY VERY slow. No such luck froze on Apple logo screen and would not budge. Did the HOME / OFF button thing and got it to turn off. When I restarted it would go no further than the logo. It didn’t even go to the black homesaver screen so with a heavy heart I turned it off. I have come across something that might help on the internet and will try that later today. If all fails I will have to take it in to a service centre. Anyone know what sort of prices they charge? Now that I am retired there is NO way I can afford a new one. Devastated. It was a big treat when I bought it and feel so sad it is not working. Worst thing is I can’t scan my stuff now on MYFITNESSPAL or at least I think that is the case.
I did my weigh in on Friday and lost 700 g. Was hoping for 1 kg but that’s okay.
I have a friend coming from Queensland for a week. She arrives tomorrow morning and we will take the long drive to the airport once again. She was happy to get the bus and train out to Lilydale but we compromised ~ we will pick her up and she will get public transport back.
I have just finished a massive shop. She eats very healthily too so I have lots of lovely, yummy healthy things for us. Have worked out all the meals and snacks. I might not do as well on my FD’s but will do my best.
I have yummy dinners planned ~ Lime Chicken Salad, Sarah Ravens Chicken Puttanesca, Turkey Burgers, Summer Corn and Avocado Salad, Avocada and Orange Chopped Salad, Warm Beef Salad and a fish dish. Snacks are Chilli Lime Roasted Almonds, Honey and Parmasen Roasted Chick Peas, and a White Bean and Lemon Dip. I am going to make a Paleo Banana Bread, Coconut Crack Bars (Drugless!!), Coconut Pecan Bars and some Skinny Chunky Monkey Biscuits.
I think we will be well looked after.
Some of it can be made in advance so I will be getting stuck in this afternoon.

FIT ~ so envy you with your new IPAD. I can’t sleep during the day, just does not happen no matter how tired I am. I very rarely have coffee and drink Pukka herbal teas which are caffein free.

PH ~ My husband has just done a sleep study. They think he might have a very mild sleep apnia so are just checking.

DOGGY ~ Thinking of you in Tasmania with all these fires. My sister is in Launceston. Her place looks across at the mountains and she posted a pic on FB the other day. You could not see a thing for the smoke. Hope you are all safe. Re the alcohol, I have not had a drink in 35 years, apart from the odd tiny sip to toast special events, and I really do mean a tiny sip. Just decided I didn’t need it and never went back.

BERT ~ My dearest friend has a wee fox terrier and his name is Harley too. The named him that because his ears stuck out like the handle bars on a motorcycle. He has such a personality.

BARB ~ I feel for your brother. My daughter is an anthropologist and her first job out of university was at the Coroner’s Court. It was pretty full on and she was researching Intentional Deaths. They had thousands and thousands of hard copy records and her job was to transcribe them into digital data. It quite affected her, so much so that she had a few sessions with their counsellor. The management did admit that they should not have given her that task first off. She was fine and went on to do other research for them but eventually left and went to Vic Police as a researcher for the Organised Crime Squad.

And in a final note, I think any weight loss is good. We try so hard and even if a little goes on (I would be devastated mind you) we should congratulate ourselves for trying.
Tell me all of your experienced folk, if one misses a FD does that mean the weight will automatically go up?

Sorry that post was so long…….

Hi ADers just a quick post. Have read all your posts but no time to reply till later. Having fun getting ready for our lunch. PH it will be under our famous (well in my world!) back patio with the wisteria though it’s not in bloom now of course but lovely shade. I’ve tried to do lots of healthy things & have made a beetroot hummus with vegie sticks. Just had a HB egg for brekky to compensate & maybe another for dinner. Otherwise I’m just going to eat and enjoy the company & have some wines. Life is for living eh and we can certainly do that with 5:2. Can’t imagine any more saying to people Oh no can’t have that I’m dieting. Those words will never pass my lips again! Except on a FD of course but then I would simply say it’s a FD or I would have already changed my days. Simple really huh!! 🙂

Enjoy your day all whatever you’re up to. Shall read it all later. suejen XXXX

Hi GG I asked how much it would cost to have computer backed up and formatted the another was $240. You might remember I had a problem with my iPad and the cost (although it was under warranty) was $900. They will give you an estimate before they repair so I would ask for that in the first instance. Your menu sounds divine. Beetroot humus & vege sticks SJ sounds pretty good. I looooove Beetroot. Thanks also Doggy for letting me know about Dilston. I still haven’t called her but I will. Talk later Barb xx

Oh no, so many struggles with insomnia and headaches, I’m sorry to hear. Pain around the head (even dental pain) is the pits. Barb and WB I hope you can get some relief, and you too PH from the back pain and OH’s troubles. What grand memories of making your mom’s life sweeter, though, surely you’re due some relief yourself. xx
Aw CG poor little Indy, of course he is chasing rabbits. Our pups go out every day and think they are sure to get this very clever squirrel in our big oak tree. Or at least bark him down. But there is no slowing them down when they are on the chase.
Genie dear heaven I have lived that Apple saga, and still yours made my head spin. I swear those “updates” are sent from the depths of hell. I hope you can find a cheap solution.
Doggy what a sad story, weirdly a very similar thing just happened here – young woman 39 weeks pregnant riding in a car hit by an unlicensed driver who was running from a police stop. They did save the baby somehow. Just so many levels of sad.
Oh Fit, the Irish Wolfhound story…reminded me of sitting on the floor with each of our old dogs near the end of life, when they got fussy. I’d roast a chicken and hand feed them when nothing else would tempt them.

Oh golly this is a sad post. Let me sink into a mental image of SJ’s lovely patio (blooming wisteria or not!) with all those lovely snacks and crisp white wine….hope you enjoy your company and have a grand time!
Milena, indeed perfection is hard to live with (just ask my OH 🙂 ) Happy 5:2 anniversary – I like your approach, slow but sure.

Whew it’s been a long week, I’m rusty from too much holiday relaxation. My student competition tonight was busy but great fun, the students so excited. It always amazes me how energetic the younger generation can be – and they have good hearts, they all dream of saving the world or at least helping people. Lots of good still left in the world. There, turned that right around I hope – let’s all thank our stars for the sunshine in our lives. Good night all, I’ll report in from my easy chair tomorrow!! xxx

Hi Jade, life is good, any road without a bend would be a loooong road 😉💕xxxxx plus, how boring, we are not perfect creatures, although some may argue that, but we need a service like our cars every so often, and our bodies let us know when it’s time for ours, even the brain😃 glad the night went well for you and you found it interesting 😊💝xxxxx

Well just about collapsing in my chair after our lunch. Our guests came at midday and left at 10 to 4. Three of them are artists so lots of chat about that, one wife is a writer. So lots of interesting discussions that went around the world in 80 days. And plenty of yummy food and wine..all I need now is to have a nap but it’s too late. I won’t sleep tonight if I do!! Oh my I think the nicest thing we had was the Berry Tiramisu – all bar one had seconds of that including me (just an extra sliver mind you). Such a light summery version of it but certainly not lo-cal with all that mascarpone. OH and here’s a link to one of the recipes I made that’s delicious & so easy. Looks impressive but basically you just throw the vegies on top of the tart – suits my artistic/arranging abilities well!!! Or lack of I should say.
    http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/23123/roast+vegetable+quiche
I think rather than a nap I’ll have to go for a walk to wake me up AND to walk some cals off. Don’t think I’m up to reading posts at the moment…will do so later tonight.
Our patio/pergola was a hit with everyone and the weather was just lovely – sunshine, not too hot, bit of a breeze….perfect day really. Byee suejen XXXX

It’s nice when everything goes to plan, even the weather, I’m pleased for you, enjoy the rest, visitors can be tiring 😃xxxxxx

Gee whizz SJ is that 583cal/slice?? That doesn’t seem right. It looks wonderful though. Hope you feel rested by tomorrow morning after you have had a great sleep tonight. Fingers crossed. B xx

    Hi All!
Well, lots of news and views here! It’s lovely that all our recent joiners are still with us, it adds such richness and variety to the thread. Also, being spread across the globe, means we nearly always have some activity….brilliant!
    GL, great news on maintaining.
Dawg, so sad about that young mother, what a tragedy. Hope the threat of fires is over and there is no more loss of life or property.
PH, glad you’re feeling better but don’t overdo it and end up under the weather again xx
Genie, sorry to hear about your IT troubles, I sure can sympathise! All our devices are Mac too because of my OH’s work…journalism seems to be completely run on Mac machines. I hope you get sorted soon.
SJ, sounds like a pretty perfect day with your friends and fab food! Well done on being such a marvellous hostess. I admire you for getting out for a walk afterwards……real Aussie spirit!
Jade, yes we do treat our pets like babies, don’t we. I’m always a complete emotional mess whenever we have had to put an old friend to sleep. It’s just horrible. Sounds like you have some lovely young people around you and it does give one hope for the future! Did you get any of that snow blizzard? I know you are far south of Washington which I saw on the news but it seemed that the whole east coast was getting it……brr!❄️❄️❄️
Hi to Barb, Up, Noots, Milena and of course, Gyps……..where are you? Has your broomstick or crystal ball broken down? We miss you💔

Sorry, Bert, didn’t mean to leave you out……..OldTimers’ disease!, 😊

So true Fit, we seem to be running 24/7 it is wonderful and all so interesting, enjoy your day 😃💝xxxxxx

CG, have a great remainder to the weekend xx. My OH has just left for a week to go over to our place in France with a friend of ours to do some electrical work that needs doing after we replaced ceilings last autumn. So I’ll be here with the dog, trying not to stuff my face all day from boredom and loneliness. Must set myself some tasks to do each day and turn it into a really productive week instead.✊👍🙏

You’re right Barb it is 581 a slice (not sure why though guess so much pumpkin) but I cut mine into a lot more slices so 347 a slice – reasonable. Fit I’m still hoping for a walk but in the end I opted for the nana nap – just couldn’t help it. Planned for 1/2 an hour and did over an hour. Now to see if I can wake myself up enough to go walking!
Jade so good to hear of the energy and good hearts of young people. All we seem to see and hear about is their narcissism and everything is about me & my needs. Enjoy that easy chair tomorrow.
Genie all your dishes sound divine and healthy & you’re going to be so well prepared that’s fantastic. Nothing’s going to get you off track with such good planning! Genie if you’ve made the Skinny Monkey biscuits I’m interested to hear how they are as I looked them up & there’s so many negative comments under the recipe?! Hope yours turned out OK. Do you have a particular site that you use for recipes?
PH I’m so looking forward to that benefit of retirement – sleeping in if I need it. Can remember quite a few days when I’d woken up at 3.30am or so & then dropped off again just before the alarm went at 7am. Only 3 weeks to go YEAH!! Good to hear you’re firing on all 4 or is it 6 cylinders again!
Hope the headaches have gone was it CG & Barb? & certainly not developed into migraines. Never had one but they must be agony.

Well off to watch the last of the cricket. suejen XXXX

Buggar, Bum, Shit, Poo.😡😡😡..just lost a long post. Too exhausted to do it all again. Feeling much better today. Well and truely back in the land of the living well and enjoying myself. SJ sounds like you had a
great lunch and did yourself proud with your catering.
Genie. Bummer about your IPad . I’ll certainly have to ask D. Few more questions regarding backups and if i. Doing everything right. I send my photos from the iPad and phone to my computer regularly and the. They get backed up regularly when my automatic backup program runs each day. It is called time machine and backs up onto a separate hard drive automatically. Guessing it does the same with my music..not sure. Not sure what else needs backing up on iPad’s ..

Hi to everyone else. Did manage to talk to you all individually before I lost it so you will have to imagine what I have said to you!!

    nIte Nite💤💤💤

Hello all. I am a total newbie who has decided to give this diet a whirl. Having done the online test my dominant type is constant craver with feaster being a close second. However food is pretty much always on my mind so i identify more as a constant craver. I have dieted most of my adult life and in my mid-50s I am pretty much over WW, Lite N Easy, Low Carb, Low fat, High protein, no this, no that, Cabbage, CSIRO etc etc etc.
I hope to get to know you all better. I am just about to pick my 2 fast days by looking at my diary. Do these have to be the same each week?
    Cheers!

Hi AA and a warm welcome to this thread and this way of life (wol). You’ll notice we don’t call it a diet because that puts it in the same category as all those other eating plans you mentioned. We know nothing is forbidden and we can make this wol suit us and our schedule or lifestyle. Have you read the Fast Diet book? I’d strongly recommend it. You can choose to do your fasts any two days you want….most of us like Monday and Thursday as it spaces them out well, but you can change around from week to week if something comes up. It’s so flexible and thats why it works. You can do two days in a row if you want but that’s hard. You can three days in one week if you want to make up for overindulgence. Drink plenty of water or calorie free drinks but not diet drinks if you can help it. Also work out your TDEE which is explained in the How It Works section at the top of the page. Best of luck!

Hi Annie, welcome..you will find this way of life different from any diets you have previously done your constant craving will soon be a thing of the past😘😘. You are only sticking to 500cals two days a week and for the rest of the week can have anything you want within your TDEE as Fit says. You need to go to the top of this page and work out your TDDE . That tells you the amount of calories you can eat on non fast days. Download an app called My Fitness Pal which will help you track your eating and calories. On a fast day most of us include 2 hard boiled eggs 🐓🐓🐓as it is essential that you eat protien and not carbs. Have vegetable sticks cut up ready in a clip lock bag in the fridge to nibble. I nibble on cucumbers because I love them, others on carrots etc. I find that I have About 100grams of chicken or fish with lots of green vegetables and some sweet potato for dinner. That leaves you pleanty of calories for during the day. Drink pleanty of water when you feel hungry and that fills you up. You will possibly find the first two or three fast days difficult but believe me it gets easier each time and they will be no problem down the track.. You will find a lot of support on this thread and no question is too silly. The other wonderful people on the thread will have lots of great advice for you too and CG our mother hen is a great motivator and a wonderful person. Good luck..💐💐😉😉😉

Another sleepless night gals. Is it that we are so full of life that we don’t need sleep anymore.💃👯💃👯maybe if we danced the night away before going to bed that would help. Barb and Doggy, what lovely holidays you have planned.✈️🛩 Would love to have gone to Cambodia, I believe the people are really friendly and obliging. South Africa was on my bucket list also but alas used all of my travelling money up during my 40’s and 50’s thank goodness. mobility would have been a real issue if I had left it till I retired. great incentive to really knuckle down and get a few more Kgs off before you go…or not..whatever turns you on 🎉🎉🎉..time to have another go at 😴😴😴

PH, poor you 😢 A long post lost and then a sleepless night too. Funnily, I find I can’t get to sleep after my dance class, my mind is buzzing and my legs are restless. Can’t win, can we?
SJ, not surprised you opted for the nana nap….. I nearly always do after visitors have left. I did lots of housework this morning and then had a little snooze. It’s really dark and rainy here today so I’m starting to feel a grazing session coming on. Trying hard not to keep snacking but when it’s cold and miserable like today, it’s hard to resist 😈

Oh indeed CG – what a great way to put it: we need a tune-up of sorts, and what doesn’t. Even the computers and phones need to reboot. I sure need a reboot after my week and I am getting one today, leaving my chair only for a few chores and to visit friends later for some social time. Puppies are filling that void in the meantime, along with OH on his couch and me in my chair. A better photo of relaxation could not be found.
PH so sorry about the lost post – we all feel that pain. But hey gang, I think I know on reason our posts vanish – when I hit “submit” last time, I was on the current page but someone else had posted in the meantime (while I was writing). So hitting “submit” made the page refresh. It’s no problem when refreshing doesn’t add anything, but when a new post is part of the “refreshment,” your draft post will disappear. I try to remember to copy it before hitting “submit” but of course don’t always think to do that and then POOF.
SJ sounds like a perfectly lovely party – congrats, I know as a host it’s hard to fully enjoy until it’s over and you can finally rest and say “now that went well!” Oh my, berry tiramisu sounds wonderful. Nice that the weather cooperated!
Fit I am northwest of the storms so no worries 😉 but thank you for worrying anyway. Those with travel plans here are not faring well. I saw on the news one couple trying to fly to Ireland and they had to cancel their trip because the airlines switched the schedules so much that the plane was delayed then un-delayed and they were AT THE AIRPORT waiting for the later flight while their flight actually departed. Maybe I got the details wrong but that sounds almost as frustrating as having an iPad update.
Hey AA, you sound like you belong here – I too have tried the famous “no this, no that” as well as the cabbage and all the rest. As others said, it’s what we love about 5:2, there is nothing off limits except for what you choose. I’ve tried to cut down on the sugar, as I found that it was causing me to think about food constantly. However, whatever you choose, if you follow the basics of 5:2, you’ll lose weight and feel better and best of all never have to gain it back.
I must get to my chores as several places are open only mornings on Sat. and OH is really hoping I get to the bakery. I was a bit wired last night so stayed up a bit later than usual and slept in. Cheers all and thanks for the lovely comments about my kids (students). jade xxxx

Jade, glad to hear you’re safe……looks like it’s going to be very serious for many states and big cities. I just emailed you back, thanks. Hope you have a lovely time this evening. One of my sisters has taken pity on me knowing that my ‘chef’ is away and she has asked me over for dinner this evening.

Welcome AA you will love this list, we have all sorts of fun and talk about everything & anything, it’s great. CG has a list of where everyone lives, you might have noticed that FIT & JL were talking about the cold and you’ll find others just waking up now while others are getting ready for bed. Lovely sunny morning here today, I will be in my sewing room but will have morning tea out on the deck. PH I came across Continental Spring vegetable soup in a packet that you make up to one litre and it only has 23 calories. Maybe have that on the stove and when you get too cold, just fill a cup and sip that. Have a great day ladies Barb xxx

Good morning/evening team, welcome Annie, you have chosen a perfect time to come on board. Xmas behind us and winter a few months away, so learning to take contol in the warmer weather is easier. This Way of Life and Way of Eating is not a quick fix, but works! You will lose weight ususally weekly, and we tend to have a weigh in on Fridays, It may only seem a small amount but adds up very quickly and is gone for good😀 stick with it and us and we will support and encourage you all the way. We have all found, logging in daily, seems to keep us accountable and you are NEVER ALONE.
Jade the weather sure does sound bad on your side of the globe 😕and I’m glad you are safe from it. There is certainly something wrong with all our weather systems these days.
Fit,don’t be thinking of catch up time with chores, think of me time, put the feet up and enjoy your meal with friends.
PH, it is a bummer losing a post when so much effort goes into it, and I’m glad your feeling better in yourself. I miss your cheery posts daily ☺️
Barb, you are really embracing our 5;2 with gusto, good on you 😃
Before I prepared dinner last night, I fossicked through the fridge grabbing all the veggies getting close to death! I now have a lovely big pot of veggies soup cooked! It has a beautiful flavour, nothing was off limit and with a few herbs tossed in tastes delish…..so with a bit cooler weather expected this week, well cooler than the 40’s so a mug or two of soup through the week will be a welcome change, and perfect with 5:2😉
Just up, having my yummy milky coffee, then into ironing catchup in front of a movie or two. I connected to “Stan” yesterday, same as/different to Netflix, apparently Australian with a bigger library. So, between that and Foxtel “anytime” movies I have plenty on offer, all I need now is time to watch them😧 but as we know (when cricket is not on) there are plenty of nights when TV, even Foxtel, has nothing worth watching or a repeat. Have a lovely day team, PLAN AND PREPARE for tomorrows fast, BE PATIENT and PERSEVERE it will happen, it DOES happen, we feel healthier, we feel lighter we are more energetic, and we have a new “pool” of friends we chat to daily, what’s not to love😃💕xxxxxxxxxxx

Just a question to anyone who has a solution. I find I am a bit constipated. Does anyone else have that problem and if so what is your remedy? Barb xx

WELCOME AA…..You will enjoy this new WOL and will learn how to make better food choices by joining AUSSIE DETERMINATION.
All the team have had genuine losses with the kgs we were carrying.
PH -SORRY that you had another sleepless night.
I stayed up to 11pm .Finally found my ear plugs , OH was snoring so loudly.
DAWG- I have 3 lots of different scales..?. In each bathroom…they all differ in the numbers. So I put the one with the lowest in my ensuite bathroom……we shall see
Today I am again going to attempt the washing ,it rained most of yesterday so I will hang it our again.
Thinking of trying a juice week. So am off to buy a NUTRIBULLET.I been reading about them and love the sound of the smoothies you can make.plus I have to the ehopping for the week.
Enjoy your Sunday.plan prepare persist and be patient .OUR MANTRA OF THE 4 P’S WORKS. SO BRING IT ON🙆💪❤💙💚💛..GO GAL

Mornin’ CG! Just home from dinner with my sister…..homemade lasagne, chips, pavlova, two glasses of sav, followed by choccies! Thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful! My older girl is popping home for the night too, she says it’s to collect a few bits and pieces, but I think she’s just making sure I’m ok…..she’s a pet! She’s off to Paris for a few days with her boyfriend later in the week, hope there are no more terrorist attacks.

Barb, I haven’t had that problem but others have I think. Try lots of water.
GG, I never get to hang out clothes in the winter, and often the summer too for that matter! Hope you managed to get a decent sleep despite the snoring. Enjoy the nutribullet!

Oh Fit, you make it all sound so perfect, glad you enjoyed.
GG, the juicers are a wonderful “gadget” I use mine all the time, even bought my Son one in the hope he would get off bread (as you know, he is a baker, so taste testing with out thinking) and he now makes them up and takes it to work, don’t know how they are after a few hours made, but he enjoys them, so great for you to take to work 😀
Barb, constipation seems to be an ongoing problem with a lot of us, Doggy especially. Firstly, try to drink more fluids, also a mild laxative doesn’t go astray. I eat an awful lot of fruit, plus in smoothies, so rarely have problems…..good luck……xxxxxx

I drink so much water I feel like I am drowning so will try some Metamucil in one of the glasses of water. I have tried drinking warm/hot water first thing in the morning…didn’t make any difference. I eat fruit but am careful of the calories in each piece so limit myself to two pieces/day. Heaps of veges etc. I’ll let you know how the Metamucil goes. Barb xx

Lost my post?? CG how do you make your smoothies, what do you put in them? Barb

I keep hearing about this Pavlova, and the photos of it online are beautiful – Fit do you have a recipe you like? Anyone? I have never heard of it before. So happy one of your babies is home, what a sweet girl. Glad the family is looking after you because you do work hard taking care of them!

Like you CG I often have fridge-rescue soup, and when it stews together it is fine as wine. It’s nice after years of cooking to have a better sense of what goes together, though I haven’t forgotten my unfortunate choice of chicken parmesan, well live and learn. I used up lots of bits and pieces making a chicken cheese dip for a potluck dinner, just leftover rotisserie chicken breast, cream cheese, rotel, shredded I’m not sure cheese that OH left out of its wrapping, and this and that veggie (onion, sweet peppers, carrots). Was relieved to taste at the finish line and not wince.

Barb that’s what I’ve always heard, too – just water and more water. No doubt on 5:2 you’re adding in the fiber w/veg and fruit. It happens esp when we are eating less. My system is like oh HELL no, I’m not bothering if that’s all you’re going to eat.

GG the nutribullet sounds fun – sometimes being able to just drink your meals is easy and you still get the nutrition. I feel that way at work a lot, then as soon as I grab a bit here comes a student. I’ve been surprised by students with a full meatball or HB egg (yep like Paul Newman) in my mouth. Then for however long I talk to them I wonder what in the world my teeth are showing.

We started watching The Martian last night, it wasn’t riveting enough to keep me awake, but I’m heading for the treadmill to give it another chance. Need to work off some of the potluck dinner in advance 🙂 xx

Jade, I don’t bake at all but I’ve watched my sister make it. It’s a meringue base cooked at low heat for two or three hours I think. Then you cover the top and sides with quite stiffly whipped cream. Then decorate with fresh fruit of your own choice. My sister’s pavlova is always beautifully crisp on outside but soft on the inside and about three inches high….a real work of art. Mmmmmmm😋

Hi Barb, I use whatever fruit I have on hand but bananas are a favourite choice, with mango, pawpaw, cantaloupe, peaches, nectarines…….the list goes on, always put liquid in it and I always add yoghurt! Milk or fruit juice gets it moving, about 3/4 cup and the full fat yoghurt makes it creamy, but you have to use liquid to make it drinkable…….I did try the reputed kale, but prefer just fruit, yoghourt and milk, you can’t fit too much in anyway, but it’s satisfying and sees my through….😀💝 yuuumy xxxx

Oh Barb, often icecubes too 😀

Barb, you can add psyllium husks to it to help the constipation each morning too 😉xx

    Hi Barb

pavlova is certainly seen here in the UK as an aussie dish (well, watching MyKitchenRules, seems the Kiwis are claiming it!) but I used to make it a lot – add a tsp of cornflour – and a tsp of white wine vinegar if you like it chewy – to 4 egg whites and 250g caster sugar. Put the sugar in slowly and whisk until it comes to stiff peaks – the test it is ready is that you can put the bowl over your head and the mixture will stay in the bowl. Bit daft as failure could be very messy!

Sure thought that you lot have better recipes!

Do look and taste as if it is much more difficult that it actually is!

sorry Barb, meant Jade – might be worth trying for constipation! Just kidding!

You’re funny M. I wouldn’t go anywhere near a Pav. I couldnt stop at one piece and I think it’s probably worse than the roast vege tart as far as calories are concerned? Happy to be proven wrong though 😁😁

Barb, it’s only egg whites and a bit of caster sugar, healthy fruit on top…..oh yeah, and heaps of creammmmmmm.😏💝xxxxxxxx

    Hi Jade:

Pavlova – an old family recipe for about 100 years. There are many versions, but this will give you the basics. Best dessert I’ve ever had, but I’m biased: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/mixed-berry-pavlova-recipe.html

Here is a bit of its history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavlova_%28food%29

Not much of a diet food, but I make it several times a year for family occasions and special dinners.
