  • Hi jade! Battling thru my fd here right alongside u! Loved Rabbit Proof Fence too, very powerful and moving. Big historic anniversary here this year too commemorating 100 years since our rebellion against de British and de start of our independence. Hope u end de day on a gd note. I know de scales will move for u soon xx

Bert, hope ur having a better day today and feeling gd about de stand u made yesterday xx

Indeed Fit I was including the Irish in that 2016 reference! OH has a commemorative pin from Dublin that he wears on his cap. And go you, let’s put this FD in the record books and nail that tdee thing too while we’re at it. I’m a slow learner but getting there πŸ™‚ Bert I hope you have the day off too, and well earned I must say. xx

Jade how clever of you to know so much about Irish history. Ur a true teacher because u never stop learning πŸ™‚

    Hi guys, Wobblybitz here!
Well I did fast day yesterday n had 3 coffee w milk, miso soup, frozen aldi meal, celery stick x6 then not good and had 8 rice cakes with p butter n nutella n 40g dark chocolate. Should’ve gone to bed at 630!! Feel a bit bad about it but new day today . any good suggestions for not getting super hungry on a fast day?

Good morning/evening teamπŸ˜€, Jade and Fit, love the chatter going on with you two through “our” nights, it’s lovely to read.
Barb, it was a great send off for someone who would have crossed so many paths and lives, and it’s only “manners” to partake in the offerings πŸ˜‰
Jade, I have seen those funeral on telly, usually in a movie of course, (The Big Easy comes to mind, loved that movie) but how wonderful, a bit like ancient Egypt with their respect and almost excitement of death and the after life ☺️ but definitely no fear or sadness. I think it’s wonderful you google with interest topics we cross in our posts, not thinking of the difference in our cultures. We all speak english, but our lives are all so different as are our customs. One question, have you come across all the voodoo we read about? Is it a myth? Oh, and it’s time you put on a gardeners hat and get a veggie patch going, fresh home grown veggies for your 5:2 plate and all that extra exercise πŸ˜ƒ and it all tastes so much better…xx
Fit, as usual, love to read your morning post, it’s a bummer when sleep will not come, understand you still being on a high, but being cold is awful. I often find when the cold really gets to the bones, the only way to warm up is a hot shower…..even that time of night 😊
My fast went well(ish), couple of stuff ups, a wrap for lunch, numerous flavoured mineral waters before realising the cal content of them, and two lattes being the good host, BUT this morning, down a K πŸ˜ƒ but not too excited, it’s the same K I gain and lose every week! So this week, on my non fast days, will make the conscious effort to eat up to my TDEE or close to, not so much as in quantity but calorie dense foods, starting today off with a summer fruit smoothie πŸ˜€ yummmm, now I have the multigrain wraps in the house, 205 cals each I think, I’ll have them for lunch and dinner is guess work this hour of the morning. I hope to see some movement rather than a zigzag by creating the feast/famine effect 5:2 is so famous for. I think mentally and bad training from advertising, still think, low cal, low fat, etc so will go back to eating as I was raised, all full fat, meat and three veg/salad fruit salad for sweets and see if it makes a difference. We all need to go with what suits us and what works for us, so this is another experiment……tried it last year at the suggestion of another sister thread, but dropped the ball when needing more surgery and having to stop my exercise until after xmas….So my AUSSIE DETERMINATION is getting a real nudge by trying something new…..AGAIN
We can talk ourselves into or out of most things, talk yourself into believing the impossible, feeling positive, seeing the beauty in the world, what we see on the news is only a small portion of what our world has on offer, embrace it, and don’t sweat the small stuff, no time for regrets, it’s useless, just get on with living and reap the benefits πŸ˜ƒ….happy day team….πŸ’ xxxxxxxxx

Mornin CG! Lovely to see you here so early. Will post properly later.
WB, big hi to you too!

Hi WB, you still did better than a non fast day…….I suggest a large container….with food only for your fast day…..nothing else to be eaten….when it has all gone, tell yourself, that’s it!! Salads and green leafy veggies are filling so pile your plate up with them, the nibbling in the evening is the hardest habit to break, but it will happen! I have been having my hot chocolate COLD! It doesn’t totally dissolve, but it’s yummy on a fast evening, worth a try too πŸ˜ƒ
WB, you will find you will get better at fasting, mind set is your biggest asset, go for a walk, stay busy if you start thinking of food, stop obsessing on food, clear the head, big mental shake up and push through it πŸ˜ƒ each fast will be easier than the last xxxx

Hi Fit, now my sleeping pattern is back to normal, my early mornings are back….best part of the day πŸ˜ƒπŸ’xxxxxx

WB, just thinking too, mineral water or a zero coke…in a nice glass (makes all the difference) is very filling, worth a try πŸ˜‰πŸ’xxxxxx

Just popping in again before the cleaner comes and then the pool. Had to share with you all that in my dreams last night we broke the Guinness book of records for the longest party ever at the WTF reunion and then we crowd funded to finance the next one in North Qld so we could pay everyone’s fares to come out for it. Made over a million dollars because of the record and so all party’s financed for years to come…boy. WHAT A PARTY IT WAS,!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸΎπŸ»πŸΈπŸΉπŸŽΌπŸŽ€πŸΎπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸ‘―πŸ’ƒπŸ‘―πŸ’ƒπŸ«πŸ«πŸ‰πŸ‘πŸ‡πŸ“πŸ’πŸ§€πŸ·πŸΎπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Hehehe, PH, dream or nightmare??? We don’t have a financial officer, who would be in charge of that??? I read somewhere Michael is in Qld. I think early March too, wonder if he would party with us?…..enjoy your day πŸ˜€πŸ’ xxxxxxx

Good morning Aussies! Oh what a lovely dream, PH. Are you exhausted from all that this morning? Guess not as you’re off to the pool. I can’t wait to pull up a virtual chair at the upcoming reunion and share a cocktail or two. Glad you included some fruit πŸ™‚ ha just in case Michael is around.
Wobbly, if I dip one toe into the sugar on a FD, I’m done for. Maybe the rice cakes do that to you. I have to keep it low-carb, and as CG said, I decide what I’ll eat and that’s that. Don’t feel bad, though, I go through so many big hunger waves on a FD. The biggest help for me is lemon water and staying away from the kitchen. I also play a mind game where I think of hunger or cravings as a distant feeling. The further away it seems, the easier to ignore.
CG, New Orleans had voodoo shops when I lived there, but mostly in the French Quarter tourist areas. I never put any stock in it, had my fortune read once and found it creepy. But I remember giving a friend a voodoo doll as a joke, and she was heartily offended. Ooops – lesson learned about cultural differences – and still learning! Best thing about life, always something to learn. I’m determined to make a go of gardening, but will have to wait as it’s the dead of winter here still. I’d break the shovel if I tried it today :). Congrats on the kilo down, one of these days it WILL stay down!

Must go prep for class, not motivated – all my energy is going into fasting lol, sort of like the old “don’t think about the pink elephant” and then that’s all you can think about. xxxx

Jade YOU CAN DO IT….enjoy your day staying busy, and yes, think of hunger as melting fat in the body πŸ˜ƒ it’s the bodies way of letting you know how well you are doing πŸ˜‰πŸ’xxxxxxx

Good on you JL for googling I do it constantly always learning. Yes it is a special day and he was a special man. To hear his grandchildren & great grandchildren speak of him was amazing. The wake was and is probably a left over from our Irish ancestors FIT. Lots of beer flowing, stories true and not so true and food spilling off the tables there is so much.
And yes I am super proud of our grandson and his achievements. He is a beautiful boy and still gives his grandma a hug in public. 😍😍😍
FD today as well as water aerobics I’m not too enthused but will push through the “I want to stay in bad” feeling & get in with it,
Good book I just finished reading if you like thrillers it’s Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. Have a great day/evening all. B xx

Wobbly, my advice is start eating mid morning, have filling protein like boiled eggs, change rice cakes to corn thins, as they are higher GI. Fast on a day when you are busy, less time to think about being on a fast. As for nutella, “get thee to a nunnery”!

Hello AD s. This is a totally relaxed doggy here. Lewis is safely back home again and I had a very pleasant arvo and evening watching TV & supping the odd glass it three of wine. I’ve just done a big load of bed linen and hung it on the clothesline to dry. It’s very hot here today and we have a total fireban in place for the whole north of the state. I’ve just heard on the radio that some @+^%#~>Β£ teenagers are suspected of arson yesterday. A slap on the wrist is just not enough of a punishment for them.
Yes well back to racism. I grew up in a very racist South Africa. My dad particularly was very racist. He got it from his parents I guess. I remember reading To Kill a Mockingbird in my late teens and maybe that is what started me being a firm opposer of apartheid. It was not easy in those days. Sadly for most black South Africans, life has hardly changed at all. There is still a huge disparity between the haves and the have nots. There are some very wealthy black people, sadly mostly politicians and the corruption is unbelievable. .
I’m doing my fast day today. I’m comfortable with it as its no big deal as we all know. I tend to stick to the some eating plan during different seasons. Summers are invariably hard-boiled eggs, smoked salmon and a nice cold salad. Then I just top it up with lots of lots of water.
Thanks again for all the support and friendship you’ve given me over the somewhat stressful silly season.
    XX

Hello wonderful gang. Woken up to very heavy rain again & so dark. We had 14mm yesterday. Well despite my changes in habits & being extra good I’m still 71.9 after my first fast but will soldier on as I know the habits are healthy ones to develop & will do me nothing but good. Just to check on my intake I’m going to track my foods just for a couple of days just to make sure I’m not over estimating – easy to do as we know! Then let’s see where we are after FD 2.

Well what a lot of topics to talk about – what a diverse group we are! Doggie soo glad you kicked back & I’ll bet are feeling way more relaxed now. Your exposure to racism in South Africa would certainly head you in one direction or the other – thank goodness you are so strongly against racism. Have a successful FD Dawg now that your life is back on an even keel!
PH still cackling inside over your dream….you must have some beauties!!! Unbelievable…not hard to tell what you’re looking forward to!
CG you and me both hope to see some REAL movement on the scales not just the same kilo over & over again. I too will be tracking foods & eating up to my TDEE or thereabouts. I can’t believe that so long after Christmas I’m still 2 1/2kg up after so many fasts already. I seem to have just got stuck there despite making changes & upping the exercise. But yes persistence & perseverance is the key right now πŸ™‚
Barb will have to look that book up but must say what a surname to have as a thriller writer!
Jade I’m with you on the mapping out what to eat on a FD & that’s it….you gotta stick to the plan & when all the foods are ticked off that’s the end of the line! I almost always enter FD’s into MFP so I know exactly where I am. As to the tomatoes Jade that’s all OH’s doing. He has green thumbs like his dad…a lot of italian market gardener genes in there. His mum was pretty hard to get on with so his dad had a fabulously large vegie garden and he did LOTS of digging on some days…if you get my drift!! So I just pick the crop though I do try to stake things up & tidy up as OH likes a rambly messy garden that’s hard to pick but I mustn’t complain – I mean you gotta have space between the plants to pick the crop I keep telling him!! But definitely work on that green thumb….once you taste the result you’ll keep doing it for sure. A home grown tomato tastes nothing like a bought one!!!
WB same as other have said I’d up the protein as in HB eggs. I know you’re getting some protein in the milk but nowhere near as filling as an egg or a tin of salmon or similar. And having so many drinks means that you’ve got less calories for more dense foods to fill you up. Best for FD’s are protein & plants ie vegies that’s what Michael says. Give it a try & avoid the carbs if you can.

Well off to plan & track my foods for today & enjoy the sound of the rain. AS I was busy with the tomatoes yesterday today must be the book. Certainly don’t think I’ll be heading out the door much. Have a good day all & make it count. sj XXX

Loving all the wit and wisdom flying around– I’m checking in tonight as tomorrow may eat me alive (first day back to school). I’m on the tail end of a good FD, thanks to a decent stirfry and lemon water – and CG’s extra push across the finish line thank you very much. Such a weekly rejuvenation with 5:2, isn’t there. Congrats to all who sailed through their first FD already and special congrats to you Doggy for a well-earned day of rest and doing whatever you like! Except eating lol as I just saw you did a FD too? I guess it seems easy after what you’ve been through. Re S. Africa, I can almost imagine, growing up in S. USA. Corruption is so prevalent, always an underlying problem.

Barb I love that GS will hug you in public, what a fine young man you have there. And ha the thriller by Ms. Slaughter, as SJ pointed out…sounds a bit gruesome. Up, your β€œget thee to a nunnery” with the Nutella had me rolling – that stuff is like chocolate crack. Wobbly, if I had even sniffed Nutella on a FD I’d be face first into the jar. Way too much temptation even on a normal day. If it’s inside my house, I hear it singing, β€œI’m made of nuts, really – I’m almost a health food!”
SJ you’re going to sprout fins and gills with all that rain. No worries about the scales, it has go down at some point! I’m also having a tough time banishing the holiday extra bits. Like chasing a greased pig, just when you think he’s given up, off he goes again.
Man, reading back through the posts I suddenly want HB eggs πŸ™‚ I guess there are worse things to crave BUT I’d better get my bits up to bed before I fall into the fridge. xxxxx

The book was a little gruesome great name for a mystery/thriller writer. I have just started another one of hers called CopTown. Hopefully it will have as many twists and turns the last one had. I can never guess “who done it” at the best of times though πŸ˜•πŸ˜•

FD going well so far. Water aerobics was great. Ok I worked out what WOL is but can’t get TDEE what is that??

Yes my grandson is quite a nice young man. I hope he stays that way, good husband material so far although far too early to think about that. 😘😘 I do worry though about mothers with sons, hoping they will bring their sons up to be caring thoughtful husbands it’s so important. I am afraid my OH’s mother brought him up to be a good person but expecting the washing, ironing, housework & cooking done by the female in the partnership. I put my foot down and have a house cleaner every two weeks now so I just do the small things in between and although I feel guilty I’m not stopping that because it will just be as it was before….good ol Barb she’ll do it etc.

Whoever mentioned white peaches, thank you. They are absolutely delicious πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Barb, it’s Total Daily Energy Expenditure, look up the top of this page in HOW IT WORKS, it’s all explained. The TDEE is what you should eat up to/below on normal days. I really wish they had never told us about it personally. We were conned in the beginning to fast for two days only then eat normally for the other five….then this row of letters turned up in the vocabulary to stuff everything up! 😏 I don’t really know if abiding by it works….we are all trying, but in the beginning I lost more weight before I had even heard of it. WOL is way of life…WOE. is way of eating, I’m sorry, you must have been so confused. There is a search bar for times like that too at the top of this thread πŸ˜€
Jade, every time I watch Cool hand Luke, I crave hard boiled eggs, if you haven’t seen the movie, there is a scene where he bets he can eat a certain amount…..oh golly they look good, well to start with 😜
Well back into the chores, awfully hot here, 45 on my deck and airless, bit better out in the paddocks, but the grass is crisp dry, very dangerous time of year……..chat soon xxxx

Well CG we’ve just had 47mm since 7am this morning to add to yesterday’s. The ground & the garden is loving it.
Barb it wasn’t a white peach but I just had a salad for lunch with mixed greens, poached chicken, peach, toasted hazelnuts & a light dressing. Gee it was yummy. Should have bought 2 peaches though!
Quite an eye opener when you go back to recoding on MFP (my fitness pal). After the salad I thought Mmm just a few small slices of that baguette we bought….won’t add up to much. But 2 small slices of a smallish baguette later 1 tsp butter & 2 tsp jam & it’s 113 calories! Makes you realise what you must stuff in your mouth sometimes – the total must be frightening cos I can remember days where I just kept on having another slice of baguette/bread certainly NOT just a tsp of butter & definitely NOT just a tsp of jam. It’s an education really!
Well need to head to that book now. Oh and I’ve just applied for the pension YIPPEE. And the downer to go with that was that I thought it was about time I let the bus people know that I’m finishing up in a month. Spoke to my direct line manager & he says Well we’ll just go down the street & get a cripple or something they will manage it!!!!!!! Now in what universe is that OK? I found it quite insulting personally (after 2 years of doing the job) let alone the reference to cripples as he put it. I’ve never enjoyed working with him (don’t usually need to have much to do with him thank goodness) but he’s never been quite that rude. I did wonder if he was a bit under the weather from the expletives he greeted me with. OH well be jack of him soon. sj XXXX

Sj, jealous, jealous, actually pea green with jealously (to quote Scarlett O’Hara), we are expecting your rain to come across on Friday, but I worry there wont be much left with all you are getting πŸ˜‰ lucky you AND your garden, but don’t envy the humidity which will follow if your heat gets up again.
What a pig of a man, they are around, but as little we have to do with them the better. I worked on the phones in a taxi company many years ago for a year, convenient at the time, I cant repeat what they called the disabled bus when it was booked…..Karma has it’s own way of working, not that we wish it on anybody, but……..their day will come. sj I rang this morning chasing my pension card, my birthday was two days before xmas (23rd Dec) and it’s
still not here although they said it was posted, so keep an eye out, then start hassling them after a week or two.
Fasting again tomorrow, then four days of normal eating ☺️, might fit one in Friday depending on the scales 😏 I’m finding Wednesday fits my gym routine better and less likely to be sabotaged by visitorsπŸ˜‰ happy day team, keep smiling…..it could always be worse (to quote my Dad πŸ˜‰πŸ’•) xxxxxx

How horrible some people are. I am a great believer in karma………

Ok, confession time. I had scones WITH jam AND cream yesterday. It was to die for yummy.

When OH applied for a pension he had to fill in so much paperwork talking about our house and what the furniture was worth and any assets we had etc. and apparently when I apply for the pension next September I have to do the same thing. Interestingly, if you are on the dole and have never had a job, you don’t need to worry, they just give it to you when you turn 65. Where is the fairness in that I ask you.
Still having a good FD. Barb xxx

Oh forgot to say I am making lamb shanks, mash and greens for my OH and GS. Smells divine. I am having miso soup with an egg πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Thanks CG for the explanation. I will check it out.

Hi team. Today I did a water fast until 3pm……surprisingly it went well. I had black coffee and a handful of peanuts. Then went back to water and a can of coke zero with ice and lemon. Just finished dinner of salad and salmon. I feel good !πŸ˜ƒit was a hot day today so it helped in that I was not really hungry, even doing 1hr of pilates with the aircon going.
I do enjoy experimenting with this WOL AND WOE. It may not work for some of us,however 4:3 was done by another with very positive results, she is now 63kgs lost 20kgs in total by doing it. Last week I did it with a postive loss. I am also not drinking alcohol for awhile. …..will I make it⁉I really want that 70kgs by the WTF REUNION. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
AUSSIE DETERMINATION WILL BE THERE ALL THE WAY WITH ME AND WITH EACH OF YOU. Be positive and focused with all your food choices…go easy with exercise in this hot weather..?.remember water, water, water….it gives life and a full tummy.xxxxxxGO GALπŸ˜•πŸΈπŸ·πŸΉNO! I MUST BE GOOD

CG as you already know & Barb you’ll know later this year…the forms are a major headache depending on what assets you have/ partner/incomes etc. I called in OH as he did his last year but they’d changed already. We got there but I expect they’ll be calling me in to clarify a few things. Did with OH too.
The rain as you say CG has been lovely & we’ve had more since then. Sending it your way now for your gardens & paddocks.
GG good to hear from you again. Boy you do like 4:3 and you B2B’s too GG you’re one determined lady. I think I’m just not determined enough sometimes. But then I don’t mind if it’s a slow boat to China so long as it IS actually moving!
Barb your dinner sounds lovely. Oh then I re-read & it’s not your dinner it’s everyone else’s. Boy how could you cook that yummy stuff & then have miso soup etc. I LOVE lamb shanks esp on a cold day like we’ve had today.

Where is everyone else by the way? You’d reckon it was a weekend! Well my TDEE was 1654 & I’ve finished off at 1587. Think I’ve recorded everything – it’s so easy to let things slip past. I was about to have a Jarrah hot choc and a square of Lindt chocky then I realised I’d left out the 2 crackers & Laughing Cow cheese triangle that I’d had while getting dinner ready. Will have to be one or the other! Nighty night all. Hope your food choices & portion control went well? sj XXXX

    Morning all……
I haven’t had a chance to read everyone’s posts; hoping to get to that this evening after work. I had a so so FD, I did end up going over but I’m okay with that. I’m just going to track religiously for the next couple days until my next FD. I’m goal is to be at 1200 calories.
The last couple days, it has been so cold…… I haven’t wanted to do anything let alone going to work…… Today is suppose to be the coldest day of the week….. Ugg! I’m not even sure, I’ve got warm enough clothes to bear this cold snap were in right now….
    Have a great day ladies!

Hi SJ my TDEE is 1661 so pretty close although I try very hard to stay around 1200 during Non FD. FD today so have 536. Felt hungry and just had another coffee or more water. The dinner got 10/10 they loved it especially the yummy gravy I cooked it in. I didn’t mind cooking it, it just made it harder to resist another piece of fruit or something to occupy my mouth πŸ‘…πŸ‘…πŸ‘… I did resist and feel very proud of myself. I CAN do this. We are gong to Vietnam to see my brother (he teaches there) and I would dearly love it if I was just 10kgs lighter than the last time he saw me. He is moving home for good in June so this is my last chance to pop over with free accommodation. And…..the clothes one can buy made to order, wouldn’t it be nice to order a smaller size.
Rain hasn’t come here since last weekend, they are predicting it later this week. Got all the sheets, towels etc washed and dried so all good. I even did the ironing. I seem to have more energy. Has anyone else found that??
I’m not looking forward to all the paperwork re the pension. We (OH & I) have worked our entire life, paid our way, contributed to our Super did all the right things including filing a tax return each year and now they want more information. I am sure they already know so why do they put us through the wringer.
Ok off my soap box. Have a good evening/morning everyone B xx

Morning all the Aussies and evening to OS friends. My goodness it does not do to miss a day. So many great posts.
Fit. The paintings will be sort of abstract and include some beautiful maple leaf I carried home from Canada on my first visit…colouring will be red, grey, purple to reflect the colours in my recliners and curtains. Will post photo when finished as requested..hope everything Back to normal with you and you are fit and ready for dancing..πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ
CG re the financial officer I believe I have the qualifications to apply for that job..used to manage a 17 million dollar budget for my job before retirement so no worries thereπŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’° and of course Michael would be welcome….πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ you sure had another hot one, must be so draining.

Jade. Only just watched To kill a Mocking Bird recently for about the 5th time . It was rerun on the telly when second book released. Just loved it again. The rabbit proof fence is indeed a good reflection of the early years . My D was involved in the logistics in getting a film crew out to the desert for a film telling the story of the last group of Aboriginals to come out of the desert. It is called “Contact ” but not sure if you would be able to get it over there. It was a very low budget film and not widely known. Tells the story about a group of 17 aboriginal females who were still living self sufficient in the desert and they had to get them out as the government was doing missile testing from Maralinga. Ended up having to get male aboriginal trackers to finally find them and bring them out as they kept hiding from the lights of the truck sent in to pick them up. Thought they were two round eyes of a devil of some kind. They are now the elders of the mob D did the history and geniology program about for the schools and jails. Such interesting old ladies. Hope you had a good first day back at class.
Post this now and continue later..

Good morning/evening team, it’s actually raining πŸ˜ƒ woohooo, not even sure what is expected but it’s all gratefully received.
Barb, the lamb shanks sound yum, hope you made enough for yourself so you can have them on a non fast dayπŸ˜‰
GG, nice of you to honour us with a post, we seem to hear less and less from you. I hope all is well in your world ☺️ and you are getting enough work in the new job. We all love to hear from you so stay in touch ☺️ FB is doing really well and I hope if your following that path you find it sustainable.
Suejen, the paper work involved is a pain, I was on disability due to my back and had to take early retirement, so the transfere to aged pension was a bit easier, but yes, the first application for either is not much fun 😏 Well done on making a difficul choice too, hot choc or cheese, in the past both would have been had with out a second thought ☺️ and I see on the news your rain is causing floods, sublime to rediculous isn’t it our weather this year. We are expecting 26 which is so much nicer than what we have had of late.
Barb, I believe Vietnam is a lovely country to visit, so hold onto your plans and dreams, it will happen πŸ˜ƒ
Time for my wake up shower, then off to the pool, then strength training. I have found it all working to get my movement going with a lot more ease. It’s been such a long path, but I have a lot of responsibilities here and not quite ready for “Gods’ little waiting room” and still love my country life, so need to be fit enough to handle it all. I guess the time will come when I will have to down size, maybe move into town….BUT not for some time yet. πŸ˜ƒ some days I get through with ease and others get difficult, but I’ll keep the exercises going which all helps my healing and bite the bullet even when I don’t feel like going (like this morning!) PLUS, I want to be fit enough to keep up with GG at our reunion 😊 although at our last one she was very caring and considerate with my mobility problems, she was a gem ☺️
Have a wonderful day team, you are what you think, so put that brain into positive gear and enjoy what life has on offer πŸ˜ŒπŸ’xxxxxx

Back again. Does anyone else have such a variance between their TDEE.2068 and their suggested cals on the My fitness Pal Program. 1600. I am guessing that the my fitness pal number is the cals you need to eat if you are to lose weight and so the reason for the difference. However I find only eat around the 1600 on my non fast days if I add something in at the end of the day to increase my intake. Not because I’m hungry. So regularly not eating up to TDEE. Reluctant to try that as I am having reasonable success.

Back again, just read back on posts and too many to answer individually today. That’s what you get for missing a day. Daughter came over after the pool yesterday and we organised all the plants to go over to her place, made some little bits and pieces for her, plastic bag holder bags, recovered pillows etc and then cooked her a baked dinner as she really felt like one. Have not had one of those for ages and it was nice. By the time she left just fell into bed and had the best sleep for ages. 8pm to 7am. Wonderful…

Anyway Barb..Vietnam. How lucky to have a brother living there. I just loved everything about Vietnam whenI visited. Especially the service. I’m sure they could read my mind and know what I was going to ask next. Everything came so fast after being ordered/requested and such lovely obliging people and such interesting beautiful country. Sure you will enjoy, have you been before?

CG. Know the feeling about having to push yourself into going to the pool some days. But as you say it does pay off. I am having my first Wednesday off. I have decided that three days in a row are too much for me and so will go to the Local pool on Thursdays after bridge instead of doing Wednesday . So still doing 4 days per week. Just different timing, so lying in bed as we speak enjoying a later start to the day.

Another fast day for me so better get up and boil those eggs and do some washing. Talk to you all later. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Hi PH yes I was there for a month 2 years ago. He lives in DaLat at the base of the mountain about an hours flight north of Saigon. The difference in the atmosphere is incredible. Saigon was hot and humid and DaLat was just perfect has everything to do with the mountain. Same here in Orange, very pleasant weather most of the time because of the mountain but 20ks away in gets so hot. Yes I know it snows here, but I quite like the cold. Rather that than the heat. They are wonderful people, and the food yum. Can’t wait.
I have been lucky with my brother, I also visited him when he lived in China, missed Abu Dhabi and didn’t go to India, he said not to come there, not a good place to visit. Where he was teaching, not India in general??

My TDEE is 1661 and my BMR is 1384. I don’t understand it really CG is right, I will ignore it and get on with what I think it should be.
    Enjoy your day/evening ladies.

OMG!!!!!!! I just hit the return button and the lot disappeared. I jinxed myself there. Got down to the end of
comment to Doggy and whammo, gone. I had just copied the text again, literally.

    Hi All,
Sorry I have been AWOL for a few days. So many posts since I was last on but I did kind of skim through them. Just been so busy. Did an extra shift at the Info Centre on Saturday. I have a friend from Brisbane coming to stay for a week. She arrives on Sunday. A fellow beader and metalworker. We are going to do some soldering, drilling, hammering etc. and I have been trying to clear out our studio. It is a separate building on the block but not used much since we moved here last Feb. it is actually chock a block with garden/car tools and unpacked boxes of books, photographs by the thousand OH is a photographer), and general things not absolutely needed in the house.
We can’t do all that dirty metalwork stuff in the house so OH and I got up there on Monday and started clearing one end. No mean feat. We sorted, chucked and consolidated boxes. What is left is down the other end of the studio and I now have a lovely clear spot with benches. Some of my beads, tools and other materials are up there but the rest is still in a couple of cupboards in the house. I am going to put up a trestle table for a work surface. The study is large, the size of a long garage and the view is stunning. Looks over the mountain. My friend is 23 years younger than me and a healthy eater so whilst I might not be able to be so strict on my FD’s, I will be eating healthy.
It has been very hot here but this morning I have woken up to soft falling rain. Still going to be 27 though.

CG – having also lost a long post previously, I have got into the habit of doing a bit and then copying it, that way I might only lose a wee bit if it happens again.

DOGGY – yesterday evening I was watering the garden and who should I see snuffling in the bushes, an echidna. He was so cute and I had that lovely fuzzy feeling watching him. It was all destroyed five minutes later when I came down our front path. I went to step off the last step and a BIG FAT blue tongue was lying across the bottom of it. You should have heard the scream!!!!! He was off like a shot thank goodness.

SJ – those fritters sound yummy. Will definitely be making those. I think portion control was a huge part of our problem and OH and I have cut down quite a bit.

BERT- shocking incident with old man! We had a lady and her male friend come into the Info Centre a while back. They were from Croatia and seemed lovely but then out of the blue they started raving on about Muslims. It was terrible and we were so grateful no one else was in the centre. Both of us just remained silent and said goodbye when she had finished.

BARB – OH and I did Jenny Craig a few years ago and it worked a treat but we just could not keep paying all that money for the food.

I have great admiration for those of you who have other family members to cook for. It must be so hard. I am lucky we are both doing it in our household.
Good grief just spotted it was 8:40 am. I am due at the centre at 9:30 and I haven’t had breakfast. We open at 10 but I like to get there a bit early to set up.

Oh, did FD yesterday. Did very well and after having breakfast and dinner I had only eaten 376 cals so I had some frozen fruit and yoghurt for a treat. Delicious. Have a good day/night everyone.

Good on you GG. I hope you have a great week with your crafty friend. I can’t stay around 300 on my fast day. I must look into the recipe book again. Maybe just stick to boiled eggs? B

    Hi All!
I had no time to log on this morning as I had a dentist appointment. Then went pricing new ipad, so hoping to get that sorted soon. However, OH is off to France for a week on Saturday and so any new purchase will have to wait until he gets back. Worse still, he might have to take his computer with him and so I’d be off air for a week. I hope it doesn’t come to that because I would really miss you gang πŸ™
PH – what a wonderful dream….if only it could come true! What brilliant times you are having with your daughter, all that great stuff that you must have missed out when she was far away; so enjoy it all πŸ™‚ So glad you had such a good night’s sleep too – you deserve it. I used to enter everything on MFP but went by my TDEE on this site – however, I got tired of it all and now just try to eat sensibly on non FDs while being calorie conscious on FDs. The painting sounds fab, can’t wait to see photos of it πŸ™‚
CG – just love ‘Cool Hand Luke’ but it’s hard to look at a hard boiled egg in the same way after that scene!! Glad to hear you’ve found a new routine that works for you – yes, this wol is truly wonderful and so doable.
Jade – hope your first day back at school went well. I remember that by the first breaktime, it always felt like I’d never been away because you always have to hit the ground running.
Barb – how great that you have Irish blood in you too!! All the best people do! πŸ˜‰ I have read a few Karin Slaughter books too, but with my goldfish memory I can’t remember any of the titles! I know I enjoyed them too. Have a terrific time with your brother in Vietnam; I’m sure it will be amazing!
SJ – what an ignorant and hurtful remark from your line manager; the world is full of bad-mannered and thoughtless people. Don’t let him get to you. Best of luck with the form filling; I hate red tape. In Ireland, everyone gets their old age state pension automatically at the age of 66. Is it means tested in Oz?
GG – so good to hear from you. How is your mum doing? You are one strong, determined lady to be taking on 4:3 on a regular basis. Best of luck xx
Dawg – I am in total awe of you being able to take a stance against racism despite the attitude and influence of your father. I think you’re amazing!! Enjoy the peace and quiet now that Lewis is gone home; we know you love him but he is also hard work.
Genie – all that creativity sounds great; it should be a good distraction to keep you out of the kitchen!! Have a wonderful time with your friend.

Hello everyone. Oh no Fit don’t lose that ipad. We don’t want to lose you for a week! Hope it doesn’t happen. As to my manager I felt as I said totally insulted that he thought so little of my work for 2 years. He seemed to be insulted/take it personally when I said I was finishing up as I was retiring. I was trying to be courteous & giving him reasonable time to find someone new. But did NOT expect that comment. Never mind my Dad gave me the best example of always being courteous no matter what the other person is giving you in return. Yes the pension is well and truly means tested Fit & you may get all or a part pension or none if you have lots of assets/income – they of course base it on whichever of those gives you the least pension. But we’ve already checked with them & should both get the full pension.
Genie not ANOTHER Post gobbled up..gone to cyber nothingness! Wow Genie you have done a lot of work to get ready for your friend AND you’re going to have a wow of a time I bet!!! As to cooking my OH has phases in things. So he cooked while he was going through that phase but now he’s moved on darn it!! So it’s me me me and although I DO love cooking sometimes I need a break. But I need to let him know in advance it seems so that he’s psyched up for it! And he always says BUT you love cooking!! True….but all of us have our limits. Sounds like you had a great FD.
PH I change my MFP number of calories to suit whatever our site tells me when I enter my weight. You do it in the Settings section. What a FAB time you are having with your D & co. You must be loving every minute! Good on you for knowing your limits with the pool PH & changing your schedule.
Oh CG great you got the rain I sent hehe. There’s probably plenty more if you’re getting what we got. Some predicted today as well both morning & afternoon. Then back to 30 by Sunday! You’re DEFINITELY not ready for a move into town lady. You would miss everything so much & it’s so wonderful for you that your op has been successful. So you can stay until everything gets too much & that’s a while away methinks.
PH when we lived in Alice Springs in the 70s/80’s we had reports even then of central desert people that were still showing up at the mission stations, seeing white people for the first time. We had several trips out to different ones & have wonderful memories of a weekend there celebrating an anniversary for the mission. The service was packed with aborigines, mums feeding their kids all the time to keep them quiet, camp dogs having a pack fight in the middle of the aisle & being taken out, the old minister saying Too much noise..if your kids are noisy put them on the boob (using of course whatever the indigenous word was). Then the next day we had a football match. It was the locals versus the rest of the world! The guys turned up for the footy match in exactly the same clothes they wore the day before to the service. They were magic to see in a footy match though….great players.
Barb yes I do have more energy…except on FD’s. I did well tracking my food yesterday & makes me realise that without doing a check every now & then you do slowly drift off course I think. PH you do it once a week on NFD’s I think you mentioned? Maybe that helps to keep us in line. Once I’ve done my week or so to get me back on track I think I’ll try that.

So off to brekky (tummy is telling me I’ve waited too long) & then start tracking the food. Have an enjoyable day all and think big picture ie losing weight is a whole of of little decisions about what we will eat added up together and YES every little good decision counts! suejen XXXX

What a great attitude, SJ, you are a real lady. Well done you for rising above his bad behaviour! In Ireland, everybody gets a state pension if they don’t have a pension from having worked in the public service – for example, as a teacher I get a government pension not a state one. But the state one is not mean tested, so even the richest people get it too – it’s mad! I agree with you that it’s the little decisions that together will pay off in the long run. About an hour ago I took two mini chocolate bars out of the cupboard and put them on the coffee table in front of me, fully intending to eat them. But then I just decided to leave them there and see if I still felt like having them in ten minutes. Guess what? When the ten minutes were up, I just put them back in the cupboard!! What?? How did that happen?? Woohoo!!

BARB – yesterday I had two poached eggs, a tomato and a black tea for breakfast and then the 5.2 White Fish in Chorizo Sauce for dinner. In saying that, I do go from breakfast to dinner with just water and black tea. I must just be Fast minded I think. I used to juice all meals once so maybe that was Fast training. Sometimes I would juice breakfast and lunch and then just have my normal dinner.

FIT – I have planned all meals for the period my friend is here. Have allowed for some treats such as lavender scones and lavender tea at the Lavender Farm not far from home and also nibbles on the deck for late afternoons.
Well done with the chocolates. Great willpower. I am not sure I could resist although, as someone here said, telling oneself that we can have it the next day would hopefully work. At the moment I just don’t have that sort of thing in the house so I won’t be tempted.

Hi team, phew, what a workout we were given this morning . Our trainer keeps changing what we do, so we keep using new muscles πŸ™„ which is when you realise how unfit we really are.
Fit, well done with the chocolates, that’s your AUSSIE DETERMINATION working for you, plus of course great willpower too πŸ˜ƒ Please don’t go missing on us if it can be helped, your post are so enjoyable, we would have (MORE) with drawl symptoms. πŸ˜‰ I hope your mouth isn’t too sore, funny how we pay our dentist to cause us pain and discomfort!πŸ˜‰ then thank them as we leave!
Genie, you really have mastered fasting, juicing isn’t as filling though as solid foods. Keep up the great work πŸ˜„ your work shop sounds fabulous, roll up the sleeves and get stuck into it, it will be fabulous when you get it sorted. I’m sure your time together with the other girl will be totally enjoyable.
Barb, for someone who had problems in the beginning, I’m so proud of you, your attitude and grasp of 5:2 in such a short time is a credit to you πŸ˜ƒ
Fasting is going well today, as I’m just home, chores to do, and no hunger (yet) but it’s often a state of mind anyway isn’t it πŸ˜‰
Jade, I hope your day went well for you, and the brain is in gearπŸ˜„

Suejen, lovely posing again…couldn’t agree more, all the little bits add up……it’s like recycling, if everyone did their own bit,the planet would be a better place. With your forms, I had to make an appointment at our local (45mins away) office and they helped me, so don’t worry about it too much, there is help there πŸ˜ƒ
Have a lovely day team,…….that bridge is there to let the water flow under it, stand there and watch your troubles and problem get washed away,….feel cleansed and get on with living, it’s a glorious feeling πŸ˜‰πŸ’• xxxxxxxx

Barb I love the books where I can’t guess β€œwho done it” – I just want to escape into the mystery. OH loves to figure it out, but then he also loves to play chess, which to me seems like work for no pay. Btw I have the same deal, OH pays the housecleaner and I happily do the cooking. Took some serious yelling to get there though (even though he wasn’t even working! He just knew I’d do it all if he outwaited me).
CG I remember that scene in Cool Hand Luke! I boiled some eggs this morning, they really are a great snack. How have you found the 4-day break between fasts? I don’t manage it very well, which is why I tried 4:3. Hey GG congrats to you for that – and ha the alcohol emojis are chasing after you. Oh CG lol β€œGod’s little waiting room” – good incentive to stay in shape πŸ™‚
Don’t know who all here likes water with lemon wedge, but boy does it sing my sweet tooth right to sleep. Like magic. I have sometimes chosen NOT to drink it because I wanted chocolate – should thump myself on the head for that one.
SJ your line manager…I can’t even write the words that should be used to describe him. No matter how he was feeling, there is no excuse, he ought to wash his own mouth out with soap. I don’t get some people, what joyless lives they must lead. Glad you won’t have to deal with him much longer.
PH I enjoyed rewatching Rabbit-Proof Fence very much, amazing story – afraid β€œContact” is not on Netflix so not sure how I could watch that one – sounds like a wonderful job your daughter did though. Boy that sounds like a busy day – you are quite the crafty one (that is meant as a compliment – though I know β€œcrafty” can mean something besides actual crafts!)
And you too Genie, nice to hear all that you’ve been doing. Soldering? Would love if you posted photos of your work. Your studio sounds just beautiful. Now I’ve had to google echidna. AW..it looks like a tiny little hedgehog, with a weird nose. Wouldn’t want to step on that one, nor the blue tongue oh my I almost squealed just reading your post.

Fit surely OH doesn’t need his computer in France. Go to the public library and stay in touch if he does! Or go get that iPad I know they’d be happy to sell you one – I’m still eyeing a replacement myself. Oh and the first school day went well, quite busy but I managed to convince the students that I know more than they do.

Bert don’t go too low with the calories on nFDs – let yourself have some fun! Maybe go get a nice cream pie to have handy in case that wretched man comes back. I suppose the owner might think that was a fire-able offense though. Hang in there, sometimes those kinds of encounters can linger. He is one bad apple, toss him in the mental trash where he belongs.

Doggy are you enjoying your calmer home atmosphere I hope? Nothing like climbing the hills to make us appreciate the valleys.
Well this was a missive – I’ve enjoyed catching up, nothing much to report here other than a solid 8 hours of post-grad teaching so I am exhausted. My classes got stacked up on Tuesdays this semester, but I have NONE on Monday so that’s nice – don’t even have to go in. But must pay the piper at some point. Have a great day all – πŸ™‚ jade xxx

Hi Jade, to answer your question re the 4 day non fast, I have found I usually do a very low cal day somewhere in the middle πŸ˜€, if my Friday doesn’t get interrupted, I will do 4:3, but remember, this is only just starting for me. I can afford to lose another 5 even 10 K’s but still happy where I am. But I changed Thursdays fast to Wednesday as it’s more convenient for my routine. In doing that, it gives me Friday, even Saturday to do another☺️ so it’s still in the experimental stages, I don’t want too many limits on myself, as this IS a way of life, so eating healthy and good portion control on non fast days should give me results (I hopeπŸ˜‰) but then again, that’s what I have been doing over the last year. Anyway, no stress, this is two fast, four non fast way of eating for the week and any day is possible πŸ˜„
Isn’t it wonderful, from different countries, different upbringings and different cultures, we all pretty much see the world the same way, it’s comforting team isn’t it πŸ˜€

JL – I would love to post some photos but I have an IPAD which is difficult. I am a member of Photobucket but do not have it on my IPAD where all the photos are. I have 64 g of memory on this but is is almost all used up now. I’m in the process of trying to download my photos to a hard drive so that I can free up memory.

Hi team. I’m late toady. I landed up having to do some grocery shopping at lunch time today and it was totally mad. Our local town is only a small fishing town but at this time of year the population quadruples. Is there such a word? Anyhow parking was a nightmare and then getting the groceries another . What is it with people who leave their trolleys in the middle of the aisle while they vaccilate over what to buy? Talk about road rage. I felt I might resort to aisle rage.
My FD went well yesterday. PH I think it was you in an earlier post that mentioned Nutella. My grandkids got a jar each for Xmas wiiht their names on them. I had a taste and couldn’t believe how sweet it was. If you eat that on a FD it will raise the Insulin in your bloodstream and that will make you hungry.
CG I don’t know if you are still getting smoke there from the Tassie fires. We have about 30 different fires burning in the state. The closest to us about 30 kilometres. We’ve had a smoke haze here since last night due to fires in other parts of the state. We’ve had no rain and it’s a horrible thing. Our poor farmers are having to buy in food for their animals.
I’m off to sort out some supper. Steamed ocean trout and salads. It’s too hot for anything else.
    XX Doggy

Hi Doggy, your ready to explode aren’t you?😜 Enjoy a sav whilst unpacking …😊 our little town, not my village, is very congested now that Aldi has arrived and people come from miles away, not that I blame them, but parking is the pits! I don’t patronise Safeway any more, they held our reins for so long, with piddly specials, and seemed to be in cahoots with the local IGA, so Aldi it is. I still get a Safeway email as we don’t get junk mail in the bush, and every so often see something I like….BUT they now have so much fish and deli things marked “50% off, this tray only..”……it has saved me a fortune….who could resist? I got half a tray of chicken tenderloins yesterday, 8 chicken Maryland’s(for the boys), and 6 kebabs, AND flathead tails…. all 50% off, and still two days left for use buy πŸ˜ƒ, All now packed in portion sizes in the freezer…I hate seeing any business struggle, but cannot find sympathy in my heart for them! So, depending on what time of day I’m there, usually straight after the gym, parking isn’t too bad…..maybe try shopping earlier πŸ˜‰……..dinner sounds nice, I’m having flathead tails and salad….thanks to Safeway β˜ΊοΈπŸ’— xxxxxxxxxx

CG, we have two supermarkets in our town. One a huge IGA who must make a fortune, especially this time of the year. The other one is a lot smaller, family owned and honestly their meat, fruit and veg are nicer but their checkout tills are the pits. There is very little space to unpack a weeks worth of groceries. I invariably land up going to both which is a pain in itself. I do my major shop at the pain in the A—se big one just for convenience sake and then get meat and groceries at the smaller one.
Right almost time to pour myself a glass of ” oh be joyful” AKA Sac Blanc and then some TV. Tennis or cricket. I often find myself switching from one channel to the other.
Has anyone noticed that products that are labelled ” low fat” are often loaded with sugar? I’m going to try adding more animal far to my diet. I’m not convinced it’s as bad for us as is made out. Isn’t it when obesity really hit us, When we started to eat far more high carbohydrate products. Mind you once I start eating butter I’m in trouble. I just love it and can literally eat it just as it is. Hello my coronary arteries!
    XX woof woof

Woops that would be meat and veggies.

Doggy, I don’t have light….low fat….low carb….light anything in the house now. I really blame the obesity epidemic on the chemicals and sugar in those products. ALSO, full fat is more filling and sustains us for longer, it doesn’t leave you wanting more a short time later πŸ˜ƒ I do use skim milk rarely on fasting days only πŸ˜‰ OH AND I haven’t had any alcohol since last weekend πŸ˜‡ just been too thirsty in the heat so using flavoured mineral water πŸ˜‹ icy cold, I think if I liked beer, that would be my choice, but never liked the taste…….
I’m with you, depending on whose playing, I’m guessing I’ll be watching the cricket 😌 πŸ’xxxxxxx

    Oh, and butter, mmmmm☺️ xxxx
