  • Doggy the memories we make are more important than a clean house, a messy house is a home πŸ˜ƒ as soon as I can get in touch with you, I’ll invite you to join and agree, we are all private people, how the devil these mobs get our details is beyond me! It’s surprising how gullible some people are and fall for their scams.xxxxxx

    Hay team….201 PAGES ……WOOOHOOO! Xxxxx

Hi All. Sorry I may have seemed to go AWOL just as I was enjoying getting to know you all but there is a reason. Our quiet Christmas with my sister ended in a visit from an ambulance after my darling husband walked through a glass door that he thought was open. The door was NOT safety glass and shattered everywhere. My husband stood there surrounded by glass and covered in blood. My sister wrapped his arms in a towel and rang the ambulance. Husband started to go into shock but ambo arrived very quickly and assessed his injuries. Off to emergency and only eight stitches later (but still covered in fragments of glass) he was deemed OK to go home for his Christmas pudding. Luckily no veins, arteries or tendons cut but his wife was a mess. We had already had a health scare with a lump in his shoulder in December so another scare was just one too many for me – and him as well I’m sure.

Anyway – big breath…..back on board again and fasting today. Daughter and Son In Law are arriving late Tuesday and staying til New Year so we are hoping to fast Tuesday before they get here as unlikely to be able to fit another one in until the weekend.

Welcome to the new arrivals on the forum. I am also a newbie having joined just before Christmas but have found everyone wonderfully supportive. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2016 for not just those of us on this weight loss/healthy life journey but the rest of our world. May we all learn to love and care for each other and our beautiful planet. Kate

Hi all, just found all the photos. What a lovely surprise it is to be able to put some faces to the names. πŸ™‚

     photo IMG_0040.jpg

Note 2001 pages. Go CG! welcome back Katy! Glad you’re OH is ok. blew my fast, found the left over pav. Ah well, tomorrow is another day. Carry on the mob. Cheers’! gyps

CG, I just found the rest of your photos in my spam file (sorrrrry).

     photo IMG_5675.jpg

CG (with jack in hand) and shots of Son, Daughter and grand children. Looks like a lovely Chrissy day was had by all.

     photo IMG_5674.jpg

     photo IMG_5673.jpg

Oh Kate what a shock, for you both. Safe or not, he would have hit it hard to have shattered it. No wonder he went into shock .Now to find a glazier who works over the holiday season! There must be something in the stars which says we are to be taught valuable lessons in 2015, individually, I don’t think anyone has come through unscathed.
Team, 2016 has to offer us all luck and good fortune, health and happiness in abundance, it really is our turn ☺️ I’m still thinking the year isn’t quite over yet but we can’t stay wrapped in cotton wool, so please be careful whatever you do, stay well, no bungy (sp?) jumping or trying hang gliding!!! Okay?? 😳 we would hate to lose you! πŸ˜‰ xxxxxxx
Thanks Gyps, I can’t remember if it was Fit or Up who suggested we post some Christmas day photos, so those are my few. You have all heard mention of all my “little” family and I burst with pride, like any Mother, with them all. They all play a huge individual part in my life, and I adore them each with their own idiosyncrasies …..☺️ xxxx

Not forgetting this li’l treasure! Granny’s girl. So pretty, real strawberry blondes!

     photo IMG_5671_1.jpg

Gyps, love the word “found” …..some pav, was it lost?? πŸ˜€ Wonderful what we “find” in the fridge whilst fossicking…..😊 xxxxx

Tegan IS the “real” blonde, same as her father, mine, well, a secret between my hairdresser and me! Xxxx

Gyps you are not the only one “to have found something” I found rocky road homemade by a friend . Just had to have 3 pieces and plum pudding with the works! No excuse I spent 3 hrs doing ALL the itoning and needed the fuel.
KATYLEE-your OH is very lucky ….. hope he is ok
DAWG- YOUR POOR GD… BUT she has given us pics in our imaginations Lol .
    CG-just beautiful pics
201 pages well done …..we have some pricless stories in all of them………Go GAL XXXXXXXX

Just back from feeding Lexie, boys running riot around the garden playing chasey, almost back to the house when a rabbit shot past my feet doing 100 mph, then in hot pursuit, Indy, hehe, just so funny, the rabbit shot into one of my garden beds, again with Indy on its tail, he, Indy, then zigzagged in and out looking for it. The rabbits have a burrow in this particular garden which is the greatest mystery to my boys!, anyway, score…..rabbit safe, Indy still frustrated but well exercised πŸ˜€ xxxxxxx

GG, I make rock road every xmas for the treats plate it’s decadent but oh so yummy, enjoy, hay it’s xmas, no time for guilt, just pure pleasure πŸ˜€ xxxxx

Fit, just saw the floods in Britain on the news, are you safe or effected….thoughts are with you….and our Gypsy who has floods being warned too…..be safe girls xxxx

CG & GG, yes my darling is ok. We have all recovered enough from the shock to start doing jokes about it while there is a “window” of opportunity 😏
My sister joked that at least he had washed all the dishes before going to hospital and that recycling may be bad for your health as he was taking stuff to the recycling bin when it happened! Everyone was shocked however that the door that they thought was safety glass (for the last 17 years they have lived there) was obviously not. So many children and grand children could have gone through it with far more serious outcomes.

Anyway, onwards and upwards – or preferably downwards when it comes to weight.

I have managed to avoid leftovers so far but I need to start cooking again for daughter and son in law’s visit so things could start to go a little pear shaped (just like me) if I’m not careful.

Katy I understand the jokes it’s the Aussie sign of relief πŸ˜€ and I’m sure you’ll be fine cooking up a storm for your visitors, you now know the “secrets” of healthy eating with 5:2 πŸ˜‰ xxxxxx

Hi all. Just fell into bed after a very busy day. Visitors left at 11am …Daughters furniture all in the house and the kitchen unpacked. Looking forward to my brother and his wife coming to see us in the morning and then one final Skype to Canada and throw some clothes in the van and off to sawtell for well deserved holiday week with friends. Lots of resting and reading. Will catch up individually when I catch my breath. 😴😴😴😴😴

    Hi All!
It’s great to hear all about the lovely variety of ways everyone has enjoyed fun and special times with family and friends. I haven’t stopped eating since Christmas eve, so I think I’m going to try a water/fluids fast today. Wish me luck!!
Jade – I know I definitely qualify for the binger crowd after all I put away yesterday! It’s lovely to hear you had a great time with your family and the mad hound……I tried putting a ribbon on my pooch’s collar but she ran around in mad circles trying to get rid of it, so I had to take it off again!! We had such a laugh! πŸ™‚
Milena – if I hadn’t put on yet another kg, I would try to run….but that aint happening! Never mind, it’s only food in transit and next week, we’ll all be back on track! (Though not the running track!! πŸ˜‰ )
Gyps – delighted to hear that you had such a great time with your son and very clever to send him away with all the leftovers! You are a wise owl!! Don’t bother trying to stay on topic….we all love your flights of fancy!! πŸ™‚
SJ – how brilliantly your house swap has worked out for you and your guests….well done! I’m so glad for you…..you deserve all the happiness in the world xxxx
Dawg – hope you had a wonderful time at the beach; sounds like the perfect end to a perfect Christmas! My house is looking a bit like a battlefield too, but I reckon that’s a sign of a good party!!…..at least that’s my excuse!! LOL!
CG – what a beautiful photo….lots of good genes there!! Sorry to hear Johnny Depp didn’t show up….how rude!! Well, it’s his loss!! Hope the strange weather settles down for you and everyone else; the world is definitely changing and not in a good way. We all need to make the best of what and who we’ve got…..life’s too short not to!! Happy new year to you and yours and to everyone else here….it’s been a wonderful journey so far with you all and I’m looking forward to hearing all about everyone’s exploits in the coming year and especially the WTF reunion!!!! Xxxxx

Stupid me, I posted before seeing all the extra messages on page 201!! Katy – what a fright for you all but glad that all has ended well, phew!!
Loving all the great photos, CG – what a gorgeous family and you looked lovely too! I started by taking a few photos of my Christmas table etc, but then forgot to take any more of the people when they arrived….so much for my great idea!! What an idiot!! Thankfully, the worst of the weather passed us by, it went over Ireland to the south of us, but really hit the UK hard. All those poor people..it doesn’t bear thinking about.
PH – don’t overdo things or you will be laid up for the next few days…..take care, dear friend xx
GG – just remembered that my OH damaged his laptop just before Christmas and his camera doesn’t work anymore….for our last skype to our daughter before she came home ,she couldn’t see us but we could see her; not ideal! I will work on a solution and get back to you as soon as possible xxxx

Well my fast went out the window at 2pm! My OH is gone to a rugby match in the south west of Ireland with my BIL. My two girls are recovering after a very late night out with their friends, so I’m sitting here surrounded by way too many goodies and I couldn’t resist. 😳 The friends we were with yesterday are coming over to us tomorrow because it’s the last opportunity for the four girls to get together for a long time. So more overindulgence……eeeeek! My body is telling me there is no point fasting until tomorrow is over….might as well get all the damage over in one go and then get down to the serious fasting. My mind is saying: ‘Who are you trying to kid?’!!!!!!

    Hi Aussie Ladies. x

May I just call by to congratulate you on this wonderful inspiring thread. Have loved and enjoyed your endless determination… please may it continue.

Very best wishes for the coming year … may 2016 bring good health and happiness to one and all. Xx

Hi Hemmy – how kind of you to drop by with such a nice message for us all on the AD thread. Wishing you and yours every blessing for 2016 and great success and health on the 5:2 journey!! Xx πŸ™‚

    CG, what lovely girls!

Doggy, totally with you on the house front with dogs and family! I have set aside today to clean and tidy after the whirlwind of festivities.

    Katy, how awful.

The 60th party was going well yesterday until a very close friend collapsed and was taken away by ambulance. Waiting for news but we have texted this morning, so well enough for that.
The only good thing about that was that I left the party early, before dessert.

    Thanks for kind words, Gyps.

Fit definitely come for xmas next year!

The rescued lorikeet is driving me crazy with his early morning racket. 5.00 is his start time!

Not sure if I mentioned I wore a white dress on xmas day that I had only worn once before. I bought it for xmas years ago, wore it and immediately put on weight! That is not going to happen this time.
This WOL is so worth it! Cheers, all.

Good morning team, good evening Fit, what a glorious morning we have here, bluest of blue skies, dew on the grass, birds all singing at the top of their voices and cattle grazing peacefully.
Hemmy, how thoughtful of you. Our wishes for you is a safe healthy 2016 , more success with 5:2 and an abundance of love and happiness. We are all sisters with the same goal in life, just using different paths and you are welcome to call in any time πŸ˜€
Up congratulations on being able to wear the white dress, please send some pics for us of your xmas day, surely having all the family together after so long many a photo was taken ☺️
It is confirmation that we are doing the right thing with 5:2, as we have found, the scales don’t always tell the full story, it’s the clothes we are able to wear because our shapes have changed. The outfit I wore xmas day are all size 12 even the top! I tried it hoping it would fit, to match my 3/4 pants, and found it very comfortable.
I still wear 14 tops for ease of movement and depending on the style and cut, but isn’t it great to see a 12 on the label, I wanted to wear it inside out to show the size 😏 I felt very proud.
Lovely to have the catch up last night Fit, I did eventually get to sleep and Indy is still guarding the rabbit they caught last night……team, Maggie, my cat, bought a baby rabbit in through the pets door, Indy saw where it ran to and waited till after lights out when it made its move, he caught it and has stayed with it all night. Rocky has tried to take it off him but Indy will not part with it. Never a dull moment with animals aye! Fortunately Indy doesn’t dissect them as Rocky would, so easy for me to put it in the bin when the novelty wears off.
I have tried so many things to dissuade them from my garden they eat all the young shoots on my plants and do damage quite a lot. I have read ammonia sprayed around their burrow deters them, even lavender, but nothing has stopped them. I do love watching the rabbits play at dusk and early morning, but they have taken up residence now and breeding as rabbits do….any suggestions?
Think positive team, congratulate yourselves on your achievements through the year, even if your weight has stabilised, it’s better than gaining. We have shown what we thought impossible does work and is so very easy and doable.
WE CAN DO THIS, our appetites are so much smaller, our AUSSIE DETERMINATION is with us daily and we are all stronger than we give ourselves credit for, so BRING IT ON, 2016 will see us all healthier, with less fat around our organs fitter than we thought possible, and so much happier due to the pride we feel with our WOL. And WOE πŸ˜‰ have a joyous day team, enjoy what life has on offer and grab it with both hands πŸ˜„ xxxxxxxx

    Hi there gang!
Having a very frustrating time. My wreck of a laptop is acting up more than usual and I can’t post here, so I’ve nabbed OH’s while he is away at a rugby match for a few hours. I have completely lost the run of myself and I’m eating non-stop. Very annoyed with myself, because I thought I was better than that at this stage. πŸ™ I have visitors to feed and entertain tomorrow, so fasting is out of the question and the longer I’m away from it, the worse I get. I need a big dose of aussie determination or I’m going to be right back where I started. Hellllllllpppp!!!!

πŸ‘žπŸ‘ŸπŸ‘’ Okay Fit, choose whichever foot you want, bend over…..ouch! Feel it??? It’s the time of year, excitment of visitors coming and so much food on offer, not to mention the extra treats and socialising, STOP being so hard on yourself, the pig outs hit us all at one time or another, but the extra couple OR few K’s will be gone after a couple of fasts. It’s the mind set dear friend, and finding it this week is pretty hard. It WILL return, your AUSSIE DETERMINATION will see to that, so enjoy the activities, the festivities, we are all so stringent through the year, surely we can afford ourselves a week of letting go! You are not the only one Fit finding it difficult, but we are human, be kind to yourself and just go with the flow, I’m sure you are more cautious than you give yourself credit for πŸ˜ƒ think positive xxxxxxx

Fit we want you to start off the year in a better place than you did last year…..remember?! And I think what happens is that if we don’t see much of a change in our eating habits we feel like we haven’t got very far or achieved anything & it becomes a vicious cascade and depressing. I’ve been there before with other diets & that’s when I ditch them. So don’t let that happen. I saw you Fit….take your hand away from that food or out of the fridge and go do something!!! But as CG says …..allow yourself some extras as we’re all doing that, but then call it quits. Call on your aussie determination and simply say a BIG NO to any more. Then your ausssie pride will kick in and you’ll feel successful and ……away you go my dear! Come on ausssie come on!!! Sj xxx

Oh Fit, I’m there with you – but you are just enjoying the holidays as we all should. The love that goes into preparing and sharing a feast is special. And feast has a broad definition! Take it from an expert πŸ™‚ it’s not really a binge until you are face-first into the chocolate sauce.

CG the adorable holiday photos of you and family are so sweet – how lucky for them that they all inherited your lovely smile! I’m glad to see you and the team are dog lovers – our little Aussie also brought us baby rabbits from our garden last March, the poor mama had unfortunately dug her nest right in the flowerbed mulch by our back patio. Oh and the lorikeet! Up, we have had various parakeets over the years, one who landed right by my school so of course I took him home. I’ve not ever seen a lorikeet but the photo was gorgeous. Must be part rooster to sound the siren at 5 a.m. On a serious note, I hope your friend is better, quite the scare for the paramedics to be called.

Katy hope your husband is on the mend, it sure sounds like he is a tough one with that grand sense of humor. Glass is so painful though! But right, good to remember “coulda been worse” when things like that happen. No undoing them with bad humor that’s for sure.

GG and Gyps and all, I have “found” all manner of sweets around here that I’d no intention of eating but practically tripped over on my way (surely) to fix a nice veggie plate or boiled egg. Btw I’m so pleased to have gotten a spiralizer in my stocking this year, I’ve read about how they turn veggies into spaghetti. Hoping to turn off the sugar spigot even more once these holiday parties are done. In fact I have one tonight! So off I go. Sorry to go on so long, I know I’m not a regular here so just tell me to hush if I get out of hand πŸ™‚ — x

Morning all how are we? CG love all the photos of your gorgeous family! And the picture you painted of this morning at your place. Despite the fact we live in town we have one small rabbit who lives somewhere near and he hops into our yard in the mornings and quietly nibbles in our vegie patch. We all love to see him in our little steeet but have no idea where he lives!
Went to a great kovie last night at one of the many outdoor cinemas in Perth. This one is my favorite place…it’s kinda magical. Saw a french movie called The Blind Date. It was hilarious and fantastic! We did it easy and bought our dinner there and a little bottle of bubbly. Then had coffee and cake elsewhere….very decadent. But this morning on the scales I find I’m only 70.9 which of course is up a little but way down from after Christmas Day. One happy chappy here.
Going to be 40 today so may head to another movie to stay cool. Trying for a FD but will see how I go however even a semi fast is useful always. Yesterday we just missed breaky because we were skyping so it all helps.
Have a lovely day all whatever you have planned. Enjoy those little extras and the family and friends. Sharing food is how we bond and they are times we remember fondly….making memories. Sj xxxx

Jade it’s lovely to hear from you and no post is ever too long. We all love reading about others lives so keep it up πŸ˜ƒ the spiralizers are great, I not only use it for zucchini spaghetti, but carrot on salads etc, just experiment…..
I forgot to tell you, I’m always the one to do the brandy butter for the xmas pudding, xmas eve I went to make it, and because of 5:2 and not eating sugar, had tossed all the sugar…castor…icing…white out, so we went without the brandy butter! The only sugar I Have in the house is raw, incase a visitor needs it for tea or coffee 😏
Suejen you sound to be having a lovely time. Are you staying in the heart of Perth? So you came from Margaret River to the big smoke? πŸ˜€ Like you, after xmas day I was 76.7k and this morning 75.2 which is around my average although prefer seeing 73k but not too worried considering I haven’t gone a day without chocolate or rocky road. All the cheese cake is now finished as is the xmas pud! I think too with this warm weather, and eating salads, our cals are lower overall, so the odd treat or two only brings us near our TDEE although counting cals at the moment doesn’t get a look in 😳
Sj your right too about starting this new year better than we did the last, I think we all are! It may only be a few K’s lighter, but no one has any major gains and of course we will carry extra fluids and food in transit at the moment, being back to our normal fast should, well I hope, get rid of the fluids as it did for us all in the beginning when we all had our biggest losses 😊 we can only but hope!
Stay cool team, slip slop slap, and get out and enjoy this beautiful day 😊 xxxxx

Team, Fit is having computer trouble so unable to post. She is waiting for tech support and will be back with us soon. She is able to read our posts but can’t reply……we will hold our breath for you Fit πŸ˜‰ xxxxxx

Hi team. So many interesting posts once again.
Tornadoes in Texas, floods in the north of England, Fires in Australia and flooding in th Northern Territory And parts of Queensland. Do you think our planet is trying to tell us something?
Katy how lucky that no arteries were severed, it could have been a lot worse.
CG great pics that our Gyspy posted of You and your family. It got me thinking that I may also decide to revert to my blonde days next year. As you say it’s just between your hairdresser and yourself.
This morning while out for our early morning walk we saw one of the maxi yachts in the Sydney to Hobart race not all that far off the coast of NE Tasmania. We think it’s one of the American one’s that are looking like winning the line honours.
I won’t even talk about food other than to say I’m still eating too much of it and am already regretting being so weak willed. I do know that I can be well self disciplined if I put my mind to it so am not really unduly worried. Talking of which I’m about to go and slice up some ham for our lunch.
Enjoy the day all and I hope for no further mishaps.

Doggy mine are actually tips, but getting it done only 2 days before xmas, it looks overall, but as the weeks go, my own colour shows, I’m dark blonde, very light mousey colour, and it all tones down. It’s quite fair when first done, but as you know it was my birthday treat to myself πŸ˜ƒ for the 23rd so it looks quite blonde. Anyway, it does you good to have a change πŸ˜€ xxxxxx

Hellooo the mob! Good to see most of us in fine shape after so much temptation.
Fit, ya drongo! get outa’ the fridge! You’ll freeze! Try some luvly hot chocolate. Not to worry, we’ll all get sorted once the drone phase sets in after New Year.
Nice to hear from you Jade, and don’t worry, we cured all the minimalists from expecting brevity on this thread. We have conversations instead of just swapping stats. Weight can be reduced in many ways, not the least of which is getting a load off your mind.

SJ, glad you’re having a good time in Perth. used to love outdoor movies in Mt Isa when I was a kid.

GG, hope you’ve had a relaxing Xmas after all that cleaning work. Rocky road sounds about right for just reward.
Hi to ya’ Dawg, its even been hot in Tassie my mate tells me.We are still hovering here, some rain today, but the expected deluge is still up in those big, black clouds. Really sultry…..sigh…. makes one thirsty …. and that dratted Tasmanian left me all these boddles of really nice wine…..

Hemmy, thanks for the good cheer, you are welcome anytime.

Still plodding on with my writing project CG, and I’ve been managing to stay out of the fridge until after midday, so some semi fasts happening. Fortunately salads are all one feels like in this heat (as long as I don’t look at the fruitcake and coddled cream, and brandy custard and….. oh dear… I feel another binge coming on…. but am only up 1 kg, so half fasts help…. just so’s you all know there’s no need to panic. 5:2 will fix us. Enjoy yourselves. We’ve all earned it. Cheers! gyps

Hi again everyone. Fit I’m with you needing a good kick up the ” you know what” I’m defiantly back on the seafood diet. We all know that one – I see food and I eat it. Whe the hell brought all the chocolates into the house? Wherever I look the buggers said are there saying ” eat me , eat me” and then I do.
CG it sounds as though we have similar hair colouring. I used to be blond in my youth but now mousey with the grey of wisdom speckled though it.
Hmm all this talk about rabbits. They are a terrible pest here where we are. Some idiot introduced them into Australia decades ago and now they cause vast amounts of damage to the crops and soil. Most of us have to plant our veggie gardens in above the ground beds or the little sods will decimate the whole lot.
Our small beachside community increases tenfold at this time of the year. Everyone seems to have brought a dog or three and they are all egging each other on in a barking competition. – great. Hopefully it will not carry on through the night.
Well dinner over and the dishes in the dishwasher. Kids arewatching a movie on TV and I’m about ready for bed.
    Night all.

Hi team, what a dip stick I am, I only just realised today was Monday, all day thought it was Sunday, I should have fasted! So tomorrow is it! I have just come in from the garden, 8;45 beautiful evening, and haven’t had dinner, but not hungry so will go without tonight. The rocky road I had this arvo will make sure my cals are up, but only a ham salad for lunch, so not too bad. I never know what day it is most of the time, retirement does that to you. It’s totally up to you if you join me, I have nothing on so no reason not to fast, in fact you might have fasted today πŸ˜ƒ good on you! It’s been a perfect day here, weather wise, and chores done, including a nanny nap, then out in the garden for the last couple of hours, no intention to, it just snowballed πŸ™„ but I loved it.
Have a lovely evening team, a lot of you are entertaining friends and family still, so enjoy making the memories πŸ˜€
Gyps, you hang in there with your writing project, I hope one day we get to read it, and stay safe dear friend with the floods, lets hope this year they pass you by xxxxx

Hi all. Sounds like everyone is doing something different. I am at the beach at the start of a weeks holiday and have no intention of fasting till I go home, I am doing the not eating till 11am and doing the 16/8 thingo. That should see me right till the end of the week I hope. Had a great first night and am a little tipsy. Catching up with okd friends does that to you. Talk in the morning.. Keep happy. Love PH

    Hi All!
Still using OH’s computer so can’t stay on too long. He has to earn his crust after all!! Well, I’m trying to get back on the blasted horse….he’s kicking and bucking and won’t stand still but I’m half on and digging in my AD spurs! Thank you all for your kindness and for putting up with my self-indulgent whining!!
Up – hope that your friend is on the mend. I can sympathize with you about the bird nuisance but that’s the price we pay for being close to nature!!
CG – thanks for all the support, common sense and well-aimed kick!! Hope all well in your little corner of paradise xxxx
SJ – your words really touched me and you are so right.
Jade – looks like you fit right in on this thread….looking forward to hearing lots more from you. Sone days we don’t just post here, we write novellas!! New authors always welcome.
Dawg – a new hairdo is always a tonic and it can be a great way to lift ourselves at the start of the new year, so go for it!! Love to see photos too when you get it done!
Gyps – I’m stepping away from the fridge….not sure what exactly a drongo is, but it doesn’t sound good! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the laugh – as ever, you know how to use humour to get the message across!! πŸ™‚
Better get on with preparations for the visitors. Not eating until they come so that might help limit the damage a bit! Take care, everyone, in these days of strange weather and enjoy the last of the celebrations.

Fit, YOU CAN DO IT, just knuckle down, think positive and watch your portions πŸ˜€ Being cold over there, I don’t know what food is on offer, so can’t say just stick with the salads, but I’m sure you know what you can eat and what is a no no πŸ˜‰ It is difficult when you have visitors but portions are easy to handle and promise yourself, as soon as they go, YOU WILL FAST πŸ˜ƒ you ARE stronger than you think, we all love a challenge so BRING IT ON, right? xxxxxxxxxx

Oh, and a drongo is a fool, idiot etc πŸ˜€ but meant in the nicest Aussie way xxxxxx

I suppose I’m bringing up the rear (no pun intended) as it’s still midday Monday here…heart is not in the FD but I’m giving it a go, coffee in hand, now thinking about rocky road, brandy custard :/. Fit, please send that kick up the *** stateside, I need it too! A dreary day here, made less dreary by dogs, cats, and no floods or tornadoes nearby. Indeed Doggy the planet is not happy with us at the moment.
Suejen, a semi-fast always helps me as a reset. My path to food insanity is lit with bright sparkly lights that dim a bit with fasting even if just till midday. Big congrats to you and CG (others?) on the reductions since Christmas day! My scale is sleeping in the closet like a bear. Btw I saw the lovely outfits you made and wow are you talented – those were absolutely adorable.
Gyps, thank you for the kind welcome – I’m definitely no minimalist, in fact the perfect opposite to my OH (well someone has to flaunt it), who finally admitted today that all my Christmas doings were worth it. Ah thanks dear maybe next year you can pitch in before Dec. 28!
CG had not heard the term drongo before – I must be one, as I am always giving my family laughs at the silly things I do. My mom always said to keep laughing or you’ll start crying – she was a wise one. πŸ™‚ xx

Hi all, confession time for me. I have had the munchies all over Christmas and my will power is so weak that I feel I can’t have tempting food in the house any more if I’m going to lose the weight. I seem bent on cleaning up all the Christmas goodies. Last of the mince pies and stollen yesterday. Another pudding and cake still unopened. Think I will put them away for another time, maybe Christmas in July, which I don’t usually celebrate, but I could give the stuff away to some who do. Will get back on the wagon as soon as possible.
My thumb is healing well but still weak. Cast comes off permanently on 6 Jan.
Loved the photos CG. Haven’t mastered how to put my own on yet.
Happy new year everyone. May 2016 be our best ever as we keep on keeping on with 5:2. Love from noots48.

Good morning team, evening Fit, lovely to hear from you Jade and noots. So many of us in the same boat with all the xmas food. I still think you are all being overly hard on yourselves. It IS xmas, it IS the time of festivities social events and oh such yummy food. It is basically only one week, except for all our chocolates, or extra puddings like noots. Remember team, 5:2 is PART of our lives not ALL of it. Our main aim is PORTION control. You can still have the xmas goodies, but carefully. If you are finding that impossible, well yes, hide it, give it away, which IS a shame because you are denying yourself. We work so hard all year denying ourselves, counting cals, only eating the exact foods we should, and now, when we have gone to so much effort to make xmas nice for everyone, we feel guilty because we indulge in the treats. I know will power does get a back seat with so much on offer, but if you can get that in control, and you ARE stronger than you think, if you can keep your portions in control, log them with MFP to count the calories, you can still enjoy them. I’m having a “treat” every night OR arvo with a coffee which seems to be enough. I don’t seem to be able to tolerate the rich foods anymore, I feel seedy, so portion control isn’t giving me much of a problem and that’s only because of our WOE with 5:2.
I don’t deny though there are the odd days when grazing can be a problem and that’s not a good time for having no-no’s in the fridge so totally understand where you are coming from. My advise would be, come New Years day, ditch all the unhealthy stuff, donate it, give it to friends, or keep it somewhere for a gift if unopened (chocolates etc) temptation can be a buggar if your mind set is off balance, so protect yourself πŸ˜€
I’m fasting today, totally salads, bit of protein and hope that shows on the scales πŸ˜€ maybe Thursday too, New Years Eve is just another day to me so no party planned ir celebration, so should be easy, and excessive heat predicted so wont be hard when it gets so hot.
Team, please don’t beat your self , we do get cross with ourselves I know, we are our own worst enemy, but we are human, this time of year is a one off, it’s to be enjoyed, celebrated, and if you can train yourself to think “do I really need this” before reaching for treats, you will win. A treat is a reward, have you earned it? My chocolates have been emptied into the chocolate biscuit barrel, in the fridge, so only come out when having my coffee, and I find, I forget they are there πŸ˜ƒ my fridge is bulging with salad stuffs and summer fruits which is the healthier choice of treat. Unopened chockies are put well away so as not to tempt me, and instead of buying chockie bikkies when needed, I’l do the same, empty them into the bikkie barrel for sharing with coffee.
The longer you stay with 5:2 you do find your sweet tooth leaving you and rich foods are harder to eat. A little bit of everything, right? We are not restricted on WHAT we eat, just how much!
Have a positive day team, hopefully a healthy day, fasting or not πŸ˜‰ and don’t sweat the small stuff, our magic fasts will have us all back on track, the sooner the better aye….xxxxxxx☺️

Thank you CG for your wise words. Feeling so much better after reading them. OH and I decided today that 2016 is the year of eating healthily and will continue thereafter. We’ll do it together, with the occasional treat still, as food is here to be enjoyed.

I’ve nabbed OH’s computer again as he has gone to bed. I had a great time with my visitors and enjoyed good food and treats. I think what you have said CG about a small treat once a day would be ideal and of course, smaller portions at mealtimes. I think I’ll try that rather than giving up everything in one go. I’m starting back into fasting tomorrow too, so best foot forward gals!!
Jade – I’m delighted you are still joining in with us here and I am sending a kick up the *** stateside, so bend over and prepare to be jolted back into line!! πŸ™‚
Noots – I have been doing exactly the same as you, so don’t feel bad. I’ve decided to accept that I had no self-control for the past few days and I will be facing the consequences – now, I’m moving on and taking myself in hand. It is a bummer, but it’s fixable. I’m also going to post my weight every Friday with the gang here so that I have nowhere to hide!! Glad to hear that your thumb is improving. Stay strong. All the best for 2016.

Fit, after xmas day I was 76+K, today 74.3k so still having my rocky road or chocolate, but PORTION CONTROL. We don’t have restrictions on what we eat, just how much and it is easy enough once we stop thinking /obsessing about all those extra goodies on hand. Sure we are like kids in a lollie shop πŸ˜‰ but it is doable. Went you think about it, temptation is with us every day of the year, but thanks to our 5:2 we have taught ourselves how to control it ☺️ and xmas is no different. Good luck with the cleansing fast, I’m not hungry yet, although only 11:00am, had my milky coffee and will now stay busy and out of the kitchen….sweet dreams, NO peaceful dreams I should say, don’t dream about sweets!😏 xxxxxxx

Hi everyone good to see the team logging in when we can. CG you’re right about it being only one week. And about our appetites changing too. OH and I have been skipping brekky while up here in the big smoke with lots of cafes/food on offer and that helps. It’s easy once you’ve done 5:2 for a while. And yesterday had to give away 1/4 of my burger….not saying I’m a saint though as did eat all the chips LOL! So our appetites do change for sure. Have said no to cake with my coffee most times as have enough treats at home anyway.
Doing my first FD today so let’s see if I can swing back into it easily. Another 38o day so gonna be a hot one. Have a few friends to call and organise catch-uos so a good day to do it and a few dips in the pool too.

Oh and heading to one special shop to buy my new bathers/swimmers/cossie…..now that’s a word that we all differ on I expect. Mine is hanging off my bum and the bust is pretty wrinkly….so that’s exciting. 13 kilos DOES make a difference. Thanks 5:2.

To anyone else fasting have s good day and don’t be concerned if you don’t quite make it. This time of year plays on our minds and if we’ve missed a few fasts it can be difficult….but we all know we CAN DO IT!! sj xxxx

PS going to be kind to myself and have a HB egg for brekky (rather than a long fast) then another for lunch then shall buy the simplest salad with chicken for dinner that I can find. Slide my way back into it with kindness! sj xx

Hi all you fellow drongos. When I first came to live in Australia I remember asking someone what a Buffhead was. One nasty women replied ” why did someone call you one? I smelt a rat and said no they were actually talking about you .” – see Jade I too enjoy a joke and a laugh.
CG thanks again for your wise words of wisdom re our pigging out during the festive season. I’ve decided that when our family leave, I’m going to try a month of combining the 5:2 with the Atkins diet. That is cutting down quite drastically on carbohydrates and getting into ketosis. That is the plan anyhow.
It’s lovely and quiet here at the moment as the troops plus hound have gone off for a swim. They will no doubt be back soon looking for thier lunch.
Fit does your hubby play rugby or just watch? Mine used to play but a bit too long in the tooth for it now. We both enjoy watching it though, rugby union that is. We are not so keen of rugby league. The rules seem to be different.
Cheers all and enjoy your day wherever you are in the world.
    Woof woof.

Hi everyone.. Just had time to read through the last few days posts. Sounds like most of you are getting back into the swing of 5.2 again, or at least trying to. I do not have scales down here in the van so was thinking that fasting 16 hours and eating 8 hours per day may ease me back into fasting. After reading all your posts thinking I am being a bit slack so will plan at least one fast day whilst I am down here as well. Then have a second first day I am home and then weigh myself to see what damage has been done. I have been aware of portion control as you suggest CG and did not bring any left over treats to the van with me.,just fruit. So come New Years Day then I am back on the straight and narrow for sure. Our group of friends consists of 4 Families and we all eat together with one family being responsible for dinner every 4th day. Luckily most of these are salads and grilled meat so I should be able to be good. We had Mexican last night with taco shells or wraps so that was OK.

SueJen. Like your idea of having a HB egg in the morning and then one more for lunch then a sensible salad dinner. It is great that you are enjoying the big smoke and you must let us know what swimmers you ended up getting. Possibly not like these? πŸ‘™πŸ‘™πŸ‘™

Noots. Glad to hear the your thumb is improving. It is so hard to be strong over the silly season , we are all guilty of nibbling lovely goodies. I’m sure we will all knuckle down once the new year starts.

Fit. It is a good idea to post your weight one day each week so that everyone can help support us. I have found that to be very good at keeping me on track so far. Hope your computer gets fixed soon.

JadeLark.. Nice to meet you. Your posts are great so looking forward to getting to know more about you. Your mother is a wise one..laughter certain,y brightens everyone’s day. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Doggy. You certainly are having a great long time with your family. It is very special to have everyone around for an extended period. Sounds like you are still doing your early morning walks. Well done keeping that upπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Gyps. Well done for only increasing 1kg. You are amazing. πŸ‘πŸ‘.and so glad you had your son home for a while. You sound like you had a great Christmas. How is the weather up there at the moment. No TV at the van and so don’t get any news while we are away. Just get together and play games and cards etc.

GG. So sorry I did not get back to you regarding Skype. I will do it I promise when I get home. While I am in The van only have a small amount of data attached to my iPad which won’t support Skype. Lucky I can still keep in touch with everyone to keep me from going overboard.

Katy. So good that your darling is OK . We had a young 10 year old boy crash through our sliding door once and would you believe it was on Christmas Day. He had a few bad cuts but all was good also..

CG there must be good youthful genes in your family. Your daughter does look young. And it is great that your GD is recovering so well. she looks great.

UP. Congratulations in getting back into the white dress. Whooo you must have felt fabulous. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

    Milena. How are you going?

Apologise to anyone I have missed. Good to be back into the swing of having time to post once again.
    Happy Days. PH
