Sorry, I have temporarily forgotten how to do this. Well done Gyps and all. Merry xmas. This little guy flew in, one extra for xmas dinner, currently eating the strawberries earmarked for daiquiris! Clearly a pet.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW AUSSIE DETRMINATORS PLUS THE LURKERS.
Have a wonderful day. It had a sneak peak At the scales after my morning shower and I’m still on 70 kilos. Thought I’d be over that by now as I’ve not fasted this past week.
Well we’ve opened the presents and lots of lovely goodies given and received. Would you believe it but I got two boxes of chocolates from hubby! WTF has he not noticed that I’ve been trying to lose weight (and succeeded this past year ) anyhow I’m sure my GKs plus others will help me eat them. I’ve just defrosted the prawns and calamari and about to marinade them. More eating ahead. Have a great day all wherever you are in the world and whether you believe in the Christmas story or not. It’s still a fun time of the year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL. On our way to Perth. Was a mad rush to leave everything tidy and get out the door in time!! Did our pressies last night to save time this morning. Got some lovely earrings from OH….except he forgot every detail I gave him! So he says Never mind you can buy another pair in Perth!! That I will.
HAVE A WONDERDUL DAY ADERS WHATEVER IT HOLDS FOR YOU. WE’VE HAD A GREAT YEAR! THANKS CG FOR INVENTING US!!!. SUEJEN XXXX

Well, it’s 2am on Christmas eve and my visitors have left. Have filled the daughters’ stockings and I’m off to bed, a very happy girl indeed. The carol service and mass went well. CG, you’ll be thrilled to know that I sent on your story about Gold, Common Sense and Fur to my priest and he read out the whole story to the congregation tonight instead of a sermon!!! It went down very well with everyone!! Looking forward to opening the pressies in the morning, singing again at mass and then having Christmas dinner with the family…..it will be brilliant, I’m sure πŸ™‚ Hope you all have had a day to remember and that you are suitably pickled!!! πŸ˜‰ Love and hugs to all xxxxxx

First disaster of the day and hopefully the last. My granddaughter ( 14)has very long hair and loves to wear it loose. She was mixing egg whites for a dessert and her hair caught up in the egg beater paddles. It was hilarious but she got a awful fright. We all laughed until we saw her crying with fright. Hair is now successfully dislodged from th equipment. Egg beater is washed and Erika is busy plaiting her hair. Hairlarious. – well sort of. I’m about to quaff my first champers of the day.

Wow…what an effort you made to get to the 200 pages. Feeling slack but did not get a minute last night to look. Too busy with the party. WELL DONE , especially Gyps. Loved looking back on all the pics. We have had our share of Dramas so have postponed Christmas till tomorrow. We will have it with you FIT. The wife of one of my nephews has had a severe back spasm and cannot move off the bed ..so can’t make it down with his family so his brother and his family have gone to his place with some Christmas cheer and is spending the day with them before coming down to us later tonight. So there are just four of us to spend Christmas Day together. We still did all the things we normally do and are now having a little rest after over indulging on the food and punch. we have had a lovely long Skype with our son ,his family and his wife’s family , inCanada and my nephew and his family who is also in Canada.
Also had a long phone call from Son And Partner in Tasmania. Looking forward to the next “Christmas Day” with nephew and family tomorrow.

Hope you are all having a great Day ..πŸŽ„πŸΈπŸŽ„πŸΈπŸŽ„πŸΈπŸŽ„πŸΎπŸŽ„πŸΎπŸŽ„πŸΎπŸŽ„πŸ‰πŸŽ„πŸ‰πŸŽ„πŸ’•πŸŽ„πŸ’πŸŽ„πŸ’πŸŽ„πŸ’πŸŽ„πŸ‘πŸŽ„πŸ¨πŸŽ„πŸ‘

Hi team,nPH, what a shame, still, you have tomorrow to look forward to now πŸ˜€
Doggy I did laugh at your poor GD, poor kid, embarressed☺️ too I bet.
Well it’s been a wonderful day after a rocky start. Bailey, my eldest (cavy) kept me awake most of the night, very restless, so up at 3:30 and realised he’d been sick so gave him a cortisone as his skin seem awfully itchy. i phoned the vet at 6:00 who said give it another hour for the effect to kick in, it didn’t so they opened for me at 9:00, 3 injections later…he has pancreatitis. He is prone to it and I’m very fussy with what I feed him, it’s over a year since his last attack, but gave him chicken skin in his dinner last night, crunchy, as a treat and this is what happened. Anyway left the aircon all day for them and the ceiling fan going, so the house was cool for them and he seems fine tonight, couldn’t get home quick enough, couldn’t disappoint my daughter and family by not going, and the trip too much in one day for the boys. I had to get home to feed Lexie, yet Glenn wanted me to stay. All over now, only complaint, thanks to 5:2 I can’t fit as much food in as I used to, and so much yummy food was on offer πŸ˜ƒ All pressies received and given were perfect, so that’s a relief. I do hope you are all safe, big fires in Victoria today due to the heat, but not in Gippsland where I live. Heartbreaking for all involved, especially the kids whose presents went up in smoke.
Got some pics and will send to Gyps to post (if she doesn’t mind) in a day or two. Merry Christmas, AUSSIE DETERMINATION would not be the success it is without you, thank you all so much. Fit Merry Christmas for when you wake up 😊 xxxxxxx

Oh CG . What a worry with your boy ..and what an obliging vet. Dramas all rou d on Christmas Day but everything turning out Ok. Nice you had a great day with your family, and that the presies worked out. I’m finding the same thing. Can’t eat much and so much choice. Just doing 3 big baked fish for 4 people as they needed to be cooked. Will eat one reheat the other two tomorrow. Have so much food here so will be sending what I can home with SIL to take to her son who could not make it. Other son on the way as we speak and should get here around 9pm so late night coming up but it will be good. Hope Bailey improves. Better get up and do some more prep. Sun well over the yardarm so must be time for a tipple also. Did not ant to start too early or would not last the distance.

Yes that’s the hardest part for me cause I’m driving. My daughter made a beautiful fruit fusion tea for the table, icy cold, full of flavour, so really after two Jacks, didn’t need any more, just drank the iced tea fusion. There is always something to prove our stamina! Bailey’s still not eating, I tried him with some chicken breast, but this is normal for a dayy or two. The main thing is he drinks heaps of water. Enjoy your evening PH xxxx

Hi Everyone, just got a mo to say Merry Christmas before the day is over. Will read up tomorrow when the son heads off. Skimmed enough to see some have had hiccups. Hair in the mixer!

Sorry your boy is crook CG, pats to him. Glad the fires aren’t your way, Take care.

PH, what a disappointment, but spreading out the cheer is not a bad thing, so hope tomorrow is good for you.

Fit, wish I could have heard your choir sing! Hope your crissy goes well. xx

Up, Can’t open your link, but sounds like you have a feathered visitor, always room for one more Enjoy having all your kids home. And the daiquiries

Dawg your house sounds happy, thanks for the boost to inspire the countdown for 200! some of thos sayings were priceless!

SJ, enjoy Perth and good luck with the earrings!

Milena Noots, the shy Beverly and all you happy lurkers out there, ONYA! dO DROP IN ANY TIME!

Well Santa gave me a Pewter wine goblet so high time I christened it! Cheers! Have a lovely Christmas night. xxx gyps

GG didn’t miss you out. HOPE YOU HAVE YOUR FEET UP, SAV IN HAND. YOU GO, GIRL!

BTW, CG, ‘Gold, Common Sense and Fur?’ Must have missed that one? must have been a beaut if an Irish Priest replaced a Christmas service with it! Well done!

I agree Gyps, but don’t think it was me who posted it, well recently anyway…..xxxxx

No, it was me in an email I sent Fit, I’ll forward you a copt Gyps πŸ˜ƒ xx

    By Linda C. Stafford

My husband and I had been happily (most of the time) married for five years, but hadn’t been able to have children. I was doing some serious praying about it and promised God that if He would give us a child, I would be a perfect mother, love it with all my heart, and raise it with his word as my guide. Soon after, we were blessed with a son. The next year we were blessed with another son. The following year, yet another son. The year after that we were blessed with a daughter.

My husband thought we’d been blessed right into poverty. We now had four children, and the oldest was only four years old. I learned never to ask God for anything unless I meant it. As a minister once told me, β€œIf you pray for rain, make sure you carry an umbrella.”

I began reading a few verses of the Bible to the children each day as they lay in their cribs. I was off to a good start. God had entrusted me with four children and I didn’t want to disappoint Him.

I tried to be patient the day the children smashed two dozen eggs on the kitchen floor searching for baby chicks. I tried to be understanding when they started a hotel for homeless frogs in the spare bedroom, although it took me nearly two hours to catch all 23 frogs.

When my daughter poured ketchup all over herself and rolled up in a blanket to see how it felt to be a hot dog, I tried to see the humor rather than the mess.
In spite of changing over 25,000 diapers, never eating a hot meal, and never sleeping for more than 30 minutes at a time, I still thank God daily for my children.

While I couldn’t keep my promise to be a perfect mother β€” I didn’t even come close β€” I did keep my promise to raise them in the word of God. Though I knew I was missing the mark just a little when I told my daughter we were going to church to worship God, and she wanted to bring a bar of soap along to β€œwash up” Jesus, too.

Something was lost in the translation when I explained that God gave us everlasting life, and my son thought it was generous of God to give us his β€œlast wife.”

My proudest moment came during the children’s Christmas pageant. My daughter was playing Mary, two of my sons were shepherds, and my youngest son was a wise man. This was their moment to shine. My 5-year-old shepherd had practiced his line, β€œWe found the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes,” but he was nervous and said, β€œThe baby was wrapped in wrinkled clothes.”

My 4-year-old β€œMary” said, β€œThat’s not β€˜wrinkled clothes,’ silly. That’s dirty, rotten clothes.” A wrestling match broke out between Mary and the shepherd and was stopped by an angel, who bent her halo and lost her left wing.

I slouched a little lower in my seat when Mary dropped the doll representing Baby Jesus, and it bounced down the aisle crying, β€œMama, Mama.” Mary grabbed the doll, wrapped it back up, and held it tightly as the wise men arrived. My other son stepped forward wearing a bathrobe and a paper crown, knelt at the manger, and announced, β€œWe are the three wise men, and we are bringing gifts of gold, common sense, and fur.”

The congregation dissolved into laughter, and the pageant got a standing ovation. β€œI’ve never enjoyed a Christmas program as much as this one,” the pastor laughed, wiping tears from his eyes. β€œFor the rest of my life, I’ll never hear the Christmas story without thinking of gold, common sense, and fur.”

β€œMy children are my pride and my joy and my greatest blessing,” I said as I dug through my purse for an aspirin. CD

From the book Chicken Soup for the Soul:

    Hi everyone and a,merry Christmas

Well, Christmas dinner was a tad indulgent, quite pleased we aren’t’t doing new year as I have booked an antique s fair on new year’s day, and a two day fair for the 2nd and the 3rd.

I think I need to stop eating!!!

Lots of love to all my Aussie mates, and Fit!!!!

    Xxxxxxxxxxx

Morning all. Maree’s family arrived last night late and so all set to go with our new Christmas Day that we can now share with our two families in Canada. Beautiful Sunny Day and all is good with the world. The baked fish were delicious and still nice and warm for the visitors when they arrived so had a late night feast on them. Followed by some Christmas cheer.

CG. Great story. I can just hear it told with an Irish accent. Must fly. Can hear the Skype sound so one of the Canadians calling.

Hi all. CG I do hope your boy is on the mend. It’s such a worry when our pets are ill. I just love the Chicken soup for the soul. I’m going to look and see if I can find the book.
My heart goes out to those poor people along The Great Ocean Road in Victoria who have lost the homes to bushfires. For our non Aussies, there is a massive bushfire burning in the state of Victoria and so far 53 homes have been destroyed by fire. People had to drop thier Christmas preparations and evacuate to safer towns.
My diet went seriously pear shaped yesterday. We all had far too much to eat. Lunch consisted of 5 courses, all of which were delicious. Then to add insult to injury I got 3 large boxes of chocolates as pressies! Next year I need to write up a wish list I think. Nothing edible will be in it. We. Have enough leftovers to ensure that no cooking is needed today.
Erika is non the worse for her hair drama and the Pav was delicious. What’s more not a hair to be found in it thankfully.
    XX Doggy

Hi team, late for me today, bit of a restless night but enjoying this respite from the heat, you can breath! Bailey definitely on the mend, thank you for your concerns, another lesson learnt, you think you are spoiling them but do their detriment!
Lazy day ahead, which boxing day should be, right? Done the tidy up, as you can imagine yesterdays mornings rush with Bailey, left everything in a mess, but on top now so ready for a bum on chair day in front of the cricket.
I hope your xmas gave you some beautiful memories to cherish, mine did, nothing like family to make you feel loved and a certain type of belonging πŸ˜ƒ Santa was extra good to me, I must have been a good girl πŸ˜‡ and the fridge is full, so no need to fight the tourists for a car park for some time.
Have a happy day team, stay in touch when time permits and to our newbies, stay strong YOU CAN DO IT πŸ˜€ and to our lurkers, your input is really appreciated so please don’t be strangers πŸ˜ƒ…xxxxxxx

High team…….!OH and I had far TOO MUCH Christmas cheer! So today has turned into a FD for me…… much needed as I have gained 1.5kgs?…. not surprising as I have really been a very naughty girl! I have had toooo much of everything. It is now 4pm and I have had water and black tea and coffee . I am not at all hungry…. so I willl look forward to dinner.
So happy to know that your day went well for you all.Hope all your pressies were what you had wanted during the year.
I WAS VERY SPOILT,OH gave me the Adel 25 al bum and had some help choosing a beautiful outfit of white lace top and navy blue collouttes in a very cool material by one of my favorite designers DAVID LAWERENCE.
Especially relieved that Bailey is feeling much better CG.Oscar was even a bit off his food this morning did not eat his breakfast until 10am .His little nose was dry and warm.so he has had a cool bath and a rub which seems to stimulate him.
Rest up well today team another day to be with loving friends and family.hugs and thoughts to all……. πŸ‘©GO GALXXXXXX

CG I’m glad that Bailey is on the mend. We’ve had some much needed rain today but I do wish that it would rain all night too.
GG I totally pigged out yesterday and am busy hopping into my boxes of chokkies today. Our fridge too is stacked with food but I fear I will have to face the dreaded supermarket again tomorrow. Our grandson is 11 and has a enormous appetite. At the moment he doesn’t have an ounce of fat on him but if he keeps on eating like this it’s not going to be good. My daughter gets very annoyed when I criticise or make suggestions re the upbringing of her kids so I have learned to zip my lip.
I now see on the latest update re the bushfires in Vic that over 100 homes have been destroyed. How very sad for all concerned. Our son’s partner has a holiday apartment in Lorne. They tired to drive there to check and see if it was OK but the road is closed to all but emergency vehicles which is understandable.
CG I hope that you are enjoying the cricket. I haven’t been watching as other stuff is on the go here.
    XX Dawg

Hi Doggy, no the cricket is a bit of a one sided drag! Watching between a nanny nap and scrabble on my ipad with Chris. Don’t know opif I told you, Chris, who stayed with me after my back surgery, well her husband has been diognosed with cancer, right through him, but he’s on tablets which seem to be helping him, from what I gather they are new’ish as well as chimo, for the short term, then back in 3-6 months, one or the other. It’s sad we don’t get to hear of these miricle drugs, I remember the old add logo, cancer is a word, not just a sentance! But the three of us play daily and love it. The vibes are very high and we hardly talk about it, I do ask her how he is of course after each chemo visit, but all seems to be going well.
I know what you mean regarding t he GK’s, what we have to remember is WE were such fantastic role modles for our kids, and did such a brilliant job on them, that they will cope! Right? πŸ™„
I’m constantly checking the Fire Ready site and keeping up to date with what’s going on with the fires, Lorne has been down graded to watch and act, so they seem to have it under control, although the wind has spring up here, pretty strong too, so it’s hard to know as we are so far away. It’s such a sad sutuation, like cyclone Tracy at Xmas, do you remember, no time is good for either, but golly, right at Christmas?
I have been given so much chocolate too Doggy, that it will do me till past Easter! And my wonderful (Santa) son, gave me 2x1litre bottles of Wild Turkey (crazy chook as he calls it) American Honey for b’day and Christmas, that certainly will not last till Easter 😜 yuum, trying one now, just to see if they cooked it right!πŸ˜‰
Take care team, lovely to chat last night GG, forgive my tears, I’m emotional at Xmas and hearing your voice set me off again 😌 although I’m emotional most of the time, just my nature. News just about to start with news on the fires, I’ll chat later.
I sent Gypsy some pics of yesterday to post when she has time too, of my family and I, especially Tegan, so two successful back op recipients πŸ˜ƒ xxxxxxx

116 homes lost with the fire and only saved more by heavy rain, oh the pictures are so sad…πŸ˜₯

Morning all, seems I’ve been away forever. Looks like everyone has enjoyed the silly season. Our visitors leave about 10am and I must admit I am not used to having kids in the house 24 hrs a day. Must be getting old. It had been nice though. My memories caused lots of happy tears.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Even with my Sons partner who is not easily moved. So they were a hit. So we’re the received ones. Still to open the ones from Cnada, doing that this morning so expect more “tears of joy” We have been skyping Canada a lot catching up with the two little families in Canada and the ones on the Gold Coast who could not make it and our son in Tasmania. One to go this morning before the visitors go.
Working bee at our Daughters house with her friends all coming to help unload the container starting at 9am and so we will head over when our visitors leave with some morning tea and coffee to help get rid of some of the left over food.

Must admit I really feel like a Fast Day. Can’t eat all of this food anymore. We had a “get what you feel like dinner “last night after cooking the kids some sausages and I only felt like a few prawns and some Christmas Ice Cream. Don’t think I will be having more alcohol for a few days either. How my eating capacity has changed for the good. I feel as if I don’t need to eat for the next week.

Enough about me. So lucky really compared to everyone in the fires.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ We have not had the TV on for days so just catching up with the news. We are so blessed not to be in a fire prone area. Victoria and SA seem to get the worst of it.

Won’t have time to talk to individuals as am hearing voices in my kitchen so better get up. Talk to you all when the madness dies down.

    Hi All!
It’s the evening of St. Stephen’s day here and I’m back home after a great day with friends. I have eaten so much good food and treats that I’m fit to burst but not feeling guilty at all! I’m so sorry to hear about the bush fires and homes lost…it’s terrifying for everyone and so sad at this time of the year in particular; the only consolation is that there are no lives lost.
Dawg – had to laugh at the vision of your poor GD’s hair caught in the mixer; but so glad to hear it all ended well:) Well, my diet hasn’t just gone pear shaped; it’s chocolate, pudding, cake, mince pie, crisps and ice-cream shaped too!!! LOL!!
PH – sorry to hear about the family health dramas, but so glad you finally got to celebrate in style! Skype is brilliant and even phone calls bring us all closer. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and a well-earned celebration in the end xxxx
CG – that was quite a scare you got with Bailey, I hope he is fully recovered now. I’m very glad that Santa was good to you – you have had quite a year and come through it all supporting everyone around you. You are an amazing mother, grandmother and friend – a soft heart in tough shell who will fight to defend her cubs and those she loves like a lioness. Enjoy your Wild Turkey, chocs and nanny naps πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Gyps – hope your magic goblet stays full to the brim with all your favourite potions!! Our singing went well thank you but our choir is dwindling in numbers every year and we are all getting older, so our voices are not as strong any more – so unfortunately, I think our days are numbered πŸ™ Hope 2016 is kind to you and yours xx
Milena – good to hear from you. I hope you are staying safe and dry in all that awful weather. Best of luck with the fairs!!
GG – my OH gave me the Adele CD too and some fab perfume!! I have also completely overindulged and will try to fast tomorrow; my system can’t cope with that amount of food any more – so that’s a good thing to learn, isn’t it? Hope Oscar is in good form again. Xxxx
SJ – hope you are enjoying the change of scenery and that you had a wonderful time with dear friends xxxx
111, Bev, Pinkhouses, Jade – hope you all decide to pop in again; it’s been really nice to meet you!! Wishing you continued success in this way of life for 2016.
Happy New Year to all my great and dear friends on this thread. No matter what the scales says this week, I’m not going to freak out because I know I can get back on track with a fast or two and I also know that I will get a swift kick up the backside if I’m slacking!!! πŸ˜‰

Good morning or evening team, wherever you may be. CG I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s cancer. My brother was also diagnosed with bowel cancer a few months ago. He’s also on chemo. He lives in Voctoria so I don’t get to see him often. From what I can gather he has a Hickman catheter and the chemo is delivered straight into the Superior Vena Cava ( or that’s how I remember it from my time at Peter Mac. I haven’t played scrabble for years. After the family has gone in a few weeks time I will download it onto my iPad and find a buddy to play with.
I’m still not bothering about fasting. I have the rear of the year plus the rest of my life to start it again. Mind you, we are going overseas for six weeks in February and will be staying wiht relies. I can’t see much fast I then either but will take care of my portion sizes.
Yes the fires in Victoria are too awful. I think I’ve mentioned that we too live in s very bushfire prone area so we are constantly aware that it could be us next time.
Oh dear a poor Rosella has just flown into one of our windows. Unfortunately it’s quite a common occurrence as we have trees and shrubs round the house and they don’t seem to see the windows. It seems to have stunned itself. Thankfully it does not seem to be badly injured as it has now flown away.
Yes the cricket is a non event. I’d much rather be able to watch the test between South Afrca and England but we’ve cancelled our Foxtel subscription so that’s not going to happen.
    πŸ•ŠπŸŒπŸŒžβ›΅οΈπŸ–πŸŽΆπŸ‡¬πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡

Good morning team, evening Fit. PH you have had a busy time and made some wonderful memories, it’s lovely having people stay but as we get older we do get set in our ways and even conversations can be exhausting πŸ˜ƒ I’m sure life will be back to normal before too long and having your daughter so close now is wonderful for you.
Our cooler weather is a blessing although the heat is coming again, close to 40 expected New Years Eve so we go from sublime to rediculous. It’s 20 today! The extreme heat is so opressive and a worry. The last few years we have had fires at Wilsons Promitory, 40 minutes from me, and they get so many campers down there, it’s a glorious place but only one way in and out! So many precious animals are at risk Awful time of year. Our summers are becomming worse, sure we have always had the heat, heat waves, but I don’t know that the temps were this high so regularly.
Thinking of fasting today, but so much temptation in the house! Even a cut back, closer to normal would help. My appitite is still small, so meals are healthy, but it’s the treats, just too easy to pop into the mouth without thinking! Grrrrr. Funny enough though, I love this time of year, it is relaxing, easy going, tourists don’t quite infringe on my little village only the bigger towns, cricket dominates the telly, salads are the constant fare and no appointments or scheduled exercise classes pending, so it is a very relaxed time of year.
Kick back team, this IS the week of letting our hair down, being glad we have lost that extra weight over the year, where the few treats wont make too much difference, we know a couple of fasts will have us back on track, so enjoy, don’t be hard on yourself and don’t sweat the small stuff. Happy day team…πŸ˜€ xxxxxx

Oh, all our posts crossed, Doggy, I’ll invite you from my scrabble apt, and we can play, the one we do is the best of them all, well we find anyway. I’ll wait till all your visitors have gone and life is a bit more stable. Mum and Dad lived in the Dandenong Ranges for many years, and had huge picture windows and birds were always flying into them, it used to upset Mum awfully as you know, they don’t all survive!
Fit lovely to see you back and perfect attitude. Pointless fighting the inevitable, we all have so many extras in, food wise, and that’s what this time of year is about πŸ˜€
Nice to get some posts going again team πŸ˜ƒ xxxxxxx

Doggy, I just checked my address book and don’t have your email address, did you put it on Up’s list? I need that to invite you to play scrabble with me πŸ˜€ xxx

Hi all. Good to see so many happy reports! PH, your sounded like a real success. But awful about the fires etc

My son flew in on xmas eve and we had the first xmas in years with us all there. It was wonderful. We went the whole hog with traditional fare and activities. On xmas eve the others came over to see their brother and we had a barbecue and sang xmas carols with much levity as these days no one really remembers much past the first few lines. Lots of good voices and musicians here though so good fun.

Yesterday, we went to a Boxing Day Bash where we all brought leftovers but I could hardly eat any, drank plenty though and today it is a friend’s 60th so more celebrating later on!

We are still looking after the lorikeet that dropped in on xmas eve but we will need to take him somewhere as no luck locating the owner.

Only 29 here today but steamy.

Fasting isn’t getting a look in but isn’t it great how we can’t even fit in the over eating the way we used to. Even when we try!

Too true Up, we do keep trying! Human nature I guess πŸ˜ƒ oh what a fabulous xmas your having, one of memories to be cherished.

Up – sounds like a pretty perfect Christmas! I reckon I know all the words to just about every carol, so can I come next year please? πŸ˜‰ I think I’m breaking the record for eating leftovers today!

Hi Fit. Can you send me your skypedetails at my email address pls.
Morning team . My FD went really well yesterday . I think it may have been fluid as the scales say I have lost 1kg.
Its cold and raining here on the coast ,all of the tourists have gone to the shooping centre for more shopping and coffeee….we locals know to stock up with the necessities days before and try not to venture out.
Had a great skype with CG this morning as I was muddling away setting up my tablet. Oh is making breakfast will be bsck…..GO GALXXXXXX

Hi GG – just answered your email and hope to be able to skype with you soon. My scales was already one kg up this morning and tomorrow morning it will probably run away with fright when it sees me coming!!!! Definitely got to fast tomorrow. I’m sitting here with a peach schnapps in hand and toasting all you wonderful people…..cheers!!

Hi everyone – what a delight reading all your Christmas adventures! I love all the photos that were posted, too. So glad the eggbeater didn’t scalp Doggy’s granddaughter! and that everyone has escaped the fires unscathed. Nature can be so scary in its power. My prayers to all those in harm’s way, and may you all stay far from it.

Christmas was lovely here, warm and wet but all glowing inside with lots of cooking, grandkids on hoverboards (!!), and a mischievous hound who got into the desserts (no doubt aiming for the brisket but instead crashing into the apple pie). I feel as though everything not nailed down has been cooked or wrapped these past few weeks. I do love Christmas! But I’m also glad I can relax. Took a long walk in the rain today with my little Aussie shepherd (I hear they are not really from Australia – there go my credentials to post on this thread I guess!). Happiest end-of-year tidings to you all! jade xx

    Hi Everyone

Fit – if you are running, I reckon I could get a new world record for the 4 minute mile!!!

Put it this way, we have been working soooo hard and pretty much snacking and eating whatever we fancy, which in OHs case has been pain au chocolat and croissants!!! And I managed to add cream and butter to – well everything – on the Christmas menu – and no low fat rubbish for me! Gyp, you would be proud of me!!

    Anyway, excuses done!

If I told y’all OH has put on 5 kilos – the greedy gannet – but I’ve beaten him!!!

New year we are back in harness – first three days of the New Year are fairs, one in the North of England, and the other, as two day, in the Midlands.

So at least we are away from the kitchen and standing all day – hopefully a good start, cos we have a BIIIIG target to the end of January. Best part though is when OH is on a mission to lose weight, he will drag me along a full pelt, so I am hopefully we will get there! Or divorce trying!

At least no New Year food to get in, and I suppose I’ll just have to finish the wine off before the 31st!!!

Hope everyone has a great time! OH had a headache all day yesterday and its still here today, tomorrow is Hobbit and LOTR fest, looking forward to it – I think now that the Hobbit is also in the mix we will have to start at about 9am to get the lot in!

Someone asked if I made my own jewellery? Not a chance, I have the artistic talent of Tracey Emin – well, my bed is just like hers some days – without the condoms and the ciggies though, so obviously not nearly as ‘Arty’. A lot of books and single socks though. I buy second hand and vintage – which means I spend half my life buying jewellery – its a hard life but someone has to do it!

Means I don’t get jewellery for Christmas and birthdays any more though.

    Have a fabby weekend

    travel hopefully

Stay tuned, I just got the email with CG’s fotos, but need to do the fiddling to up load. Was just telling her via email that it was on the 2nd of Jan(I’m pretty sure) that I made my first post on our thread, so a year coming up. Thanks to all for making me welcome and in particular, to CG, our thread creator. Crossing your cyber threshold is just like going home now. You are a natural giver of light, may it shine on you!

Makes one count their blessing to see the horror story of the firesin the south. Everyone is so sending more rain for them. We are on the brink of a deluge up in Far North Queensland as the gulf cyclone mucks around in the Gulf.
Glad to read you all had pretty good Christmases. And life’s ups and downs are better for the sharing.

Hope your markets do well Milena.

Dawg, you’re happy! Lovely to hear.

And UP, Store the moments and remember when worries get you down, how extraordinary your life has been to produce and raise those happy, talented offspring.
Good word that, Offspring, because our kids do ‘spring’ From and off us – be they tender shoots or wild Cacti – Family is our garden. Mum is the one who gets the ‘creation’ blame no matter what. Even if God did ‘create us all equal’ he’s not the one cooking Christmas dinner! and equality has to come from the eye of the beholder (of the tea towel to dry the dishes, we pray)) so take a bow if your bunch have grown enough to appreciate the effort, and don’t lose heart if they haven’t. YET. Life is a great teacher, and grand kids, more so! (my Xmas parable for 2015!)

May we count out blessings and appreciate it when they are in the form of praise and laughter. But grumbles are growing pains and mates are often the cure. xxx all

As for me. I’m fasting, not a moment too soon! The boy ate the fridge out and got the rest in eskies to fatten HIM up. Sensible refills for diabetic Leprechaun and self tomorrow. March is…. well…., marching! Must make an effort to stay on subject a little more often! Tally Ho! Stay tuned for CG’s piccies. Cheers! gyps

     photo IMG_5681.jpg

This is CG’s Daughter and granddaughter. Pick the mother!? Both look like teenagers!

CG, not sure how this will turn out, the pictures only come through very small from your Ipad, and only one. is that correct? Will check back later. heading off for a visit to friends now. have a good day all. Cheers! gyps

Morning AD team lovely to read your Christmas posts. Well we are well and truly settled into our home exchange and it’s great. Bonus I didn’t know aboit is that we have not one but two gorgeous rescue cats to look after, one jet black and one grey siamese sort of mix I guess. And even better our exchangers texted and said how lovely our place was as they were having drinks on the patio with our birds! So all good. We enjoyed their little dipping pool yesterday with a drink nibbles and a read of my new book.
Will make a skype call with our son and grandies in San Fran today. Had a brief one yesterday but call was poor and dropped out and kids were whacked totally. We took pity on them & said let’s do today.
Yes way too much food of all varieties but it will come off soon. Not sure when I’ll fast was going to be today then OH said breakfast out so……not today! Enjoy your down time all and the fun and festivities and friends and family! Suejen xxxx

Hi again CG I did send my email address to Up but think it got lost in cyberspace. If someone sends me the link or whatever I’ll do it again I tend to be a private sort of person so don’t want to be receiving emails from Nigeria or elsewhere telling me that someone loves me and please send them my bank account details.
Jade my granddaughter who nearly got scalped has also got an Australian shepherd. I believe they are actually from Spain originally. My miniature Poodle, Pepper managed to leap up to the kitchen bench top and grab a champagne cork. ( sorry to any French readers, the word Champagne has escaped and can’t be put back ). So he ran around the house with it in his mouth chewing all time and eventually spitting it out everywhere. I’ve virtually given up trying to keep the hous clean as we have two kids here, four adults + dog and everyone seems to manage to bring some sort of debris in from outside.
We are joining the neighbours wiht their kids and grandkids down at the beach this evening where we have a public BBQ area. It will be very casual, probably sausages and a bread roll and the odd beer and glass of vino.
CG I’ll have to relearn how to play scrabble so that will be good for the old brain too.
    XX Dawg.

Suejen you really landed on your feet, fantastic, enjoy
Gyps, thanks for posting pics of Leah and Tegan, I’m not old enough ( or don’t feel it)to have a daughter or grand daughter so grown up! They came through perfectly, I sent another copy of them as misreading your email thought they hadn’t come through, my heart goes out to you with the impending floods. Your poor garden being under water and no doubt a few slithering creatures looking for higher ground which is dry. What a joy having your baby boy staying with you, I bet the tears flowed when he left. They are our babies from the womb to the tomb, age means nothing and yes, it’s still lovely to be needed………..We do cop it in Aus with all extremes of weather and disasters but wouldn’t swap our country for anything. All countries seem to get their share, it’s learning to live with nature.
I’ve been chatting to my neighbour at the fence whilst collecting horse poo from her, and the wind is very chilly, can’t win with our weather, the campers will be feeling it. I do feel sorry for them, it’s a great holiday lifestyle, and affordable with kids, but the heat and finer weather seem to come when they go home, more in February, it’s usually our hottest and most dangerous month.
Milena, all he best to you and yours, give yourself time for feet up πŸ˜€ we will all be back on track in the new year, but NOW is the time to enjoy, guilt free and to remember☺️
Lunch time is calling, colder weather makes me hungry, then maybe a bit of ironing in front of the cricket. Oh, my big disappointment is the gift my daughter had promised she would try to get for me….Johnny Depp! I did ask when she said is there anything special you’d like for xmas…..I’m still waiting! πŸ˜‰ xxxxxxx
