  • Great pics Gyps. You certainly know how to enjoy life.

Hi Fit. How are you going today? Hope you fine the candles you need for your centrepiece. Hubby and I usually get ourselves something together for Christmas like you do and so the two extra days in our trip to Tasmania to see the Great Ocean Road is it. I have purchased for him a new frying pan though cause the one he has sticks all the time when he cooks me dinner. Big of me don’t you think? Ha ha. Having trouble sleeping tonight. Over excited I guess..i gave up getting my nails done as I have the same problem as you but I do get my toenails cut and painted along with a pedicure each 8 weeks. Guess yours don’t see much light of day at this time of the year. Bye for now

    Another page down. Getting close!!

Hi everyone. Just practicing copy and paste. And I did it🤗🤗🤗 I have forwarded this to a couple of you but thought you all might enjoy the joke.

    THE OLD GEEZER

An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic. He put a sign up outside that said: “Dr.Geezer’s clinic. Get your treatment for $500, if not cured, get back $1,000.”
Doctor “Young,” who was positive that this old geezer didn’t know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer’s clinic.
Dr. Young: “Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me?”
Dr. Geezer: “Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young’s mouth.”

Dr. Young: “Aaagh! – this is Gasoline!”
Dr. Geezer: “Congratulations! You’ve got your taste back. That will be $500.”

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his money.
Dr. Young: “I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything.”
Dr. Geezer: “Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient’s mouth.”
Dr. Young: “Oh, no you don’t, – that is Gasoline!”
Dr. Geezer: “Congratulations! You’ve got your memory back. That will be $500.”
Dr. Young (after having lost $1000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.
Dr. Young: “My eyesight has become weak – I can hardly see anything!
Dr. Geezer: “Well, I don’t have any medicine for that so, here’s your $1000 back.” (giving him a $10 bill)
Dr. Young: “But this is only $10!”
Dr. Geezer: “Congratulations! You got your vision back; that will be $500.”
Moral of story – Just because you’re “Young” doesn’t mean that you can outsmart an “old Geezer”*
Remember: Don’t make old people mad. We don’t like being old in the first place, so it doesn’t take much to annoy us.

Okay had a skim, some wonderful stuff! Still laughing about your definitions, Dawg! Bloody funny! glad your girl got home for xmas.

CG, you’re a pin up in those shorts! So admire how you’ve come through 2 major ops in a year and still feed the cows in your pyjamas!

PH will try to dig up some space taking looooong ways to get the page count up. Meanwhile, so well done on your goal perseverance . I made 1 kilo out of the 5 I wagered on. and fasting is up the creek at my place with all the goodies stocked in for a possible cyclone for Xmas eve. Praise god we now have 2 generators, As long as my son makes I home before the expected floods we’ll be happy as larks munching on.

Fit, hearing that you are gearing up for a bumper yuletide, too. Don’t like the sound of your freezing sleet and rain, but You’re right, it is just lovely to actually share this season with you on the other side of the world. Love the picture you paint of village life and traditional stuff. Never heard of St Stephan’s day, but it sounds far more inspiring than ‘boxing day’. did some male chauvinist think that up, I wonder? Don’t know the history of it, either. But am sympathizing with your last minute cleaning rush, From a great height, of course, being (for the firs Xmas ever) all done on the cleaning front. Damn pity it doesn’t last! Anyway, no one will notice if your windows are rain lashed and smudgy if you get some spray frosting and stencils and do chrissy scenes. a great standby. Clue, o them on the outside so they can be hosed off Luck. trying to figure out if you have xmas morning before or after us?

GG good to see you getting the hang of your ipad thingy. Keep jingling, girl!
Welome to you Katylee, You’re right to join now and get the tools to amend Christmas extras. Great Hubby is supportive. Welcome to you both.

SJ, glad you won’t be missing the bus run! Sounds like your calendar is full. Good for you.

Milena, didn’t miss your greeting, but we are missing you on here. nice to know you are still in the wings. And I do know what it’s like to have too much going on to be able to sit and enjoy our cyber fun. Blessings on your mortgage. Hard to make ends meet when the rope is too short. I suppose the weather is chilly in Scotland, too. Am personally hoping the predicted cyclone low doesn’t result in Floods for Xmas here. Just heard on the news that the cyclone has been downgraded to a rain depression. Hopefully that will just mean green grass!

Galeichick, don’t think we’ve met, but hello. welcome back if you’ve been away.
I have all kinds of last minute things to do for christmas, and am also immersed in a writing project, so appologies, gang, for my erratic posting. May we all have a great Christmas. Nite xx gyps

So in the interest of hitting the 200 page mark for CG’s Chrissy present. I offer the following space filler, it was some time ago now, but nothing much changes. Christmas come once a year and my biker mate still ride, a hundred strong though the streets collecting toys for the Salvos and chucking lollies to the kids on the roadsides. I will miss this year, but my heart is with them. Such fun we have had in our adventures together.

    December 04
    THE PURPLE TOY RUN TERROR

    ‘Twas the week before Christmas
    The toy run was on
By the time I got there
    Of course, they were gone

But … “God Save the Salvos!”
    I said “Tally Ho!”
    The Gypsy was loaded
    With toys to go!

    There had to be clues
    I had to be brave
    I sniffed on the wind
    And smelled …. Aftershave!

    Timmie! Ducking and weaving
    He fled from his follies
But those girls rushed the curb
    And grabbed his poor lollies

    He was yelling for help
    But I rode on past
    Whatever the cost
    I couldn’t be last

    I raced for the lights
    Rounded the ditch
    Blonde hair ahead
    It was Barbie and Titch!

    She was making rude signals
    And bobbing her head
    Just trying to stop me
    From getting ahead

    I know about blondes
    I ignored her instead
    Egad! I rode on
But the lights had turned red!

    I skidded and weaved
    Missed the oncoming
    The mob was insight
    My adrenalin’s drumming

    They were doing forty!
    I’d never beat that!
‘Twas the pig in the lead
    That felonious rat

    He knows I’m half blind
    And can’t see the flag
    I opened the throttle
    And hit the main drag

    I revved through the gears
    And made my selection
Gawd! If I was a bloke
    I’d’ve had an erection!

    I passed one !
    A Harley, to boot!
    Of course, it was parked
In the back of a ute …

    I took her to sixty
    Down the fast lane
    The traffic all round
    Was going insane!

    I overtook Col
    ‘Course he was in pain
    Yelling at Bev
    “Scratch me shingles, again!”

    Then I got a lead
    On that dratted Weirdo
    He sold his old bike
    To my daughter, you know

    He trained it to drop
    On females, he did
    Bad mistake
    To pick on my kid

    And there he was, trapped
In the midst of the mob
    My lollies were melting
    But they did the job

    Quick as a flash
    I chucked jelly beans
    And off he went, skidding
    Along on his jeans

    Great Scott!
    A shock of white hair
    Was suddenly sailing
    Along through the air

    He landed on Tony
    And copped it from Hellie
Though, she reckons its my fault
They all got on Telly ….

    I knew it was Weirdo
    Who caused all the trouble
    But the leaders were down
    The mob was in rubble

    The sirens were closing
    I had to break free
    The Salvos and Santa
    Were counting on me

    Alone and unaided
    The Gypsy rolled home
    The streets in her wake
    Were covered in foam

…. On the night before Christmas
    They speak of it still
    Of the slow, purple terror
And that Toy run spill ….

    If you reckon I’m lyin’
    I tell you, its true!
    I got a fine
For those lights I went through …

    M.C.B.

Loved the old Geezer, PH. Keep them coming everyone! Who’s got a Christmas yarn?

PH, I suppose the hat you took off was your purple one!

Nice to hear from you, Gypsy and see you!

Well, the fridge is empty and waiting for the food tomorrow. I must say that although we have baked, we haven’t eaten except for bowl licking. The shortbread is yet to be tasted, just need to do rum balls tomorrow.

Xmas shopping pretty much done thank goodness as I do not want to go near the shops again for a while. For me it isn’t the shopping but the finding of parking spaces that cause me grief. Just received an email to say my parcel of towels should arrive on xmas eve. Nothing like cutting it fine!

So you’re all in bed? It’s after midnight. Oh well, Here’s another space filler, just for the softies. In my time I have seen wonderful things evolve from the human spirit. From the most hardened of men. The answer to a child’s prayer was one of the best. This is a true story. And it was at a Christmas fair for handicapped kids. I was what inspired me to join the Southern Cross rider’s association and offer my sidecar for rides to spastic kids who couldn’t sit on a pillion seat (and be strapped to the rider with wide Velcro slings).

    A WHISPER ON THE WIND

    For whispering Jack and other
    Living Legends.

    I’d lost my inspiration
    Fortune hadn’t smiled
    Until I found a hero
Through the eyes of a child

    He sat there all alone
    Confined to his wheelchair
    I saw him sadly glance
T’ward the fun rides at the fair

    Yet strangely he dismissed them
As though straining for a sound
    His longing eyes stayed fixed
On the highway through the town

    “He’ll come, I know he will….”
    ‘Twas like a fervent prayer
    Drawn by his distress
    I hurried to his chair

I asked if I could help
But he said it was “okay”
‘Cos he’ written to the “Angels”
    And he’d be here today

    “…Hells Angels” he explained
    “There’s a man,” he said “You see…
    He’s got a golden trike
He gives rides to kids like me”

Well, he didn’t know the “man”
But was sure the “Angels” would
“…I told them I’d be waiting
    And I’m sure they understood”

    Concerned, I spoke of ‘Patches’
    “…And I’m not sure if they mix…”
But he told me of his hero
There was nothing I could fix

    “….He’s the greatest Ulyssian
    Beneath the Southern Cross
    Veterans salute him
    Even Hogs call him Boss…”

    “He’s a free rider – see?
    He’s got patches galore!
    He’s a triker and a biker
    He’ll ride for me, I’m sure….”

    The roughest and the toughest
    Rode those great machines
But a child who couldn’t walk?
Could be trust them with his dreams?

    The day was wearing on
    The sun had risen high
    I waited with the boy
    All hope began to die

    I saw his shoulders droop
His little head went down ….
    There came a distant ROAR
    And thunder shook the ground!

    ‘Twas frightening! Magnificent!
    A hundred bikes took shape
    Like the Devils’ cavalcade!
    The crowd all stood, agape

I know not to this day
    What patches those men wore
    But no greater honour guard
    Was ever seen before

    They wheeled off with precision
    Lined, aloof, upon the hill
Only one rode through their ranks
Like an eagle on the kill

    The sunlight on the chrome
    Of the gleaming Golden Trike
    Shimmered like a halo
You can call it what you like

    Silver beard, a flashing grin
Though a helmet hid his face
    This knight in shining leather
    Gave the title no disgrace

He spoke no word to me
As his arms reached for the boy
No, I never knew his name
All I recall …. Is the joy

    

    P.S.

    A whisper on the wind
    A shadow on the wall
Some said his name was Jack
    Greatest Legend of them all…….

Hi Up, Good to hear from you, too. big day for me tomorrow, too with last minute shopping. Am off to bed now, Happy Christmas to you and yours. I hope you get your 200 CG. Nite all xx gyps

Wow! There seems to be alot of night owls over there! How great for me to have some posts to read in the middle of the day.
PH – you’re a cheeky one, getting the OH a frying pan!! 😉 I didn’t find my candles but I have one green one which will do if all else fails. It’s just gone 3pm here and I’m sitting down for the first time today!! Phew!! Loved the old Geezer story; we have a saying here which has the same sentiments “The old dog for the long road” 🙂
UP – good to hear that all is falling into place in time…even if it is by the skin of its teeth!! All the baking sounds lovely…mmmmm 🙂
Gyps – just loving the poems and the photos are priceless! 🙂 I’m sure they will help to cover the pages. It would be a lovely pressie and tribute to our fearless leader if we get to the 200 by Christmas. Boxing day began in the 1830’s in the UK when it was the custom for the gentry and big employers to open boxes and give money or gifts to their servants and workers on the first working day after Christmas day. It then began to be done on the day after Christmas. You will have Christmas morning about 10 hours before me, I reckon. I’ll still be celebrating Christmas eve, with any luck! Hope the weather is kind to you and that your son gets home safe and sound xxxxx

Good morning team, good evening Fit,
What great pic Gyps, just love your outlook on life. It is to be enjoyed, not conquered. You are so much apart of it and take things on head on. It’s such a joy to have you with us and I’m pleased to see you looking well with that “life is for livin’, no holds bar” attitude 😃
Glorious morning, bright sun and dew on the grass, cattle grazing in the paddock out front and the world is at peace……well until you turn the telly on and watch the news!
I slept like a baby last night, feel very relaxed and calm this morning, I’m up to date with what needed doing, house work done (homecare came yesterday) pressies wrapped, did my fridge on the week end, bit of ironing ….as always to do, but no pressure, and feeling the magic in the air. I’m heading off later to be beautified, or at least, try to improve things 😏 at the hairdressers so a nice bit of pampering. No last minute shopping to be done either. I’ll get the pork out of the freezer and let it thaw, I usually cook it Christmas Eve, whilst watching the carols on telly, it has a Christmas feeling when smelling it cooking wafting through the house. My SIL adores it but my daughter wont cook it. She had a bad piece at a asian resturant and never been able to eat it since, shame, so I do it for him, and it also adds to the Christmas buffet. 😛
Have a lovely day team, I hope your starting to ease off on the “panic” and enjoying to season for what it is…..😃 xxxxxxxxxx

Oh golly, just read the poems Gyps and the joke PH, excellant to you hoth. Bought a tear to the eye Gyps, never tell a book by it’s cover, those big burley tattooed guys, heavily beared still have hearts of gold, and who doesn’t melt around a child at Christmas.(love you passing the Harley, mmmm…..in the back of a ute, I did laugh out loud)😃
Oh thank you team for trying to get to 200 pages, I’m sure our AUSSIE DETERMINATION will get us there 🤗 xxxxxxxx

Morning all, what a lovely time I have had reading the posts. LOVE your poems Gyps, you certainly make up for your erratic posting. I always look forward to it when you do start because you make it so special..You do have some adventures…hope your son Gets there before the big rain.🌦💨⛈🌬💨 Supposed to be raining everywhere so my picnic at the beach is looking a bit iffy. Thank god I have lots of undercover outdoor areas for the kids to run around in.

CG the picture you paint of your home sounds delightful🏠.🐄🐄🐏🐏🌿🌿🐕🐕It does make you feel relaxed when everything is under control. Lucky Christmas only comes once a year cause 💸💸💸 money certainly flies out the door quickly..Hubby and I do the last shop today and then it is all done and then tomorrow my cleaner comes in to give the house the once over for me before everyone arrives, I get my hair cut and my SIL arrives in the afternoon. And then the celebrations begin.

UP. Yes it was the purple hat. Only one I’ve got these days..love the pun. Know the feeling about parking spaces, even with disabled parking it is hard, usually I get one easily. But it is good to see all the oldies out and about doing all their Christmas shopping on their walkers with smiles on their faces looking forward to the festivities. Have learnt that you can’t get a disabled park early in the morning because all the oldies get up early God bless them…

Fit. You are full of knowledge. Thanks for letting us know where Boxing Day came from. It is a lovely story .

Well up and off to the pool for my last session for at least a week. Bye for now..sorry if I’ve missed anyone..

PH regarding the oldies shopping. Has anyone noticed the “oldies” just buying something small and meaningless, only to be part of the magic of xmas shopping. There are so many lonely single people out there whose family are too far away to share the day with, money is tight so unable to fly home, these are the people we should reach out to. Even a good morning or a smile, makes them feel part of the season. Take the time team, it’s only a few minutes of your very busy lives, to make someone feel special 😉 xxxxxxx

CG – you sure do have a little slice of paradise on your doorstep. Delighted to hear you had such a good night’s sleep. Hope you are well spoiled and pampered at the hairdresser’s and I’m sure you will look a million dollars!
PH – I’m sure you will all have a fab time no matter what the weather is like 🙂 Hope the last of the shopping went well and that you enjoyed your last pool session.
I gave my new window cleaning gadget a go this afternoon but I only got to do some inside panes, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it was a success or not. I hope it does the trick, because it was so much easier and quicker than the spray and cloth method. I just have my living, dining, kitchen area to do tomorrow and then all the cleaning is done. OH and daughter are doing the last of the grocery shopping tomorrow and we’ll be ready for entertaining on Christmas eve as well as Christmas day…can’t wait!!

Oh dear, feeling a bit deflated. My family crisis has reared its head again, causing three family members to pull out of joining us for Christmas day…..can’t believe it. We were already down to 12 from our usual 20 to 25 or more because of various circumstances; it will be very strange with only nine people and not the same atmosphere at all. Sorry to be a moan; I know 9 seems like a big crowd to many people and I should be grateful and make the most of what I have, but I’m struggling to see the bright side at the moment.

So sorry, Fit. Know just how you feel about dwindling numbers around the Christmas table. I resorted to cooking for the pub orphans (It closes xmas and boxing day here)for xmas dinner since my lot grew up and went their different ways . and my downsizing to the hut made the venue unsuitable for babies as the next crop came on. I get invited in all directions, but it behoves me to stay home and share with neighbours. looking forward to my son’s first xmas home in many years. He is usually only passing through on his way to play uncle to his brother’s kids. But their move to Adelaide is too far. So I can cook up mountains knowing he’ll devour the lot. Life gives us lemons sometimes, Fit, but try to make lemonade, or at least make the most of the fewer. Sometimes smaller groups can be more enjoyable than the hectic crowd. Hugs to you. Interesting background on boxing day, thankyou, Rainbow!

CG, thank you for the kind words. I may wander, but it’s always nice to have you all to come home to. Am just off to town for last minute bits and pieces, may we all have yummy pork crackle! Pat your boys and cows and have a great day. Can just picture you and your menagerie. We’ll make the 200 no sweat. xx

PH. Agree the weather is iffy for the beach. Something is brewing, luck of the draw as to who cops it. The Gulf cyclone watch has downgraded budding cyclone Stanley back to a rain depression, but it may reform over water. Just a typical cliff hanger. Feels like a boil about to burst up this way. My Boy’s coming from Cairns tomorrow. So hope the heavy stuff holds off til then. can’t wish rain away, we need it so badly and it would be the best Christmas pressie for the inland farmers. I think sometimes we forget that we are guests of mother Earth the world doesn’t revolve to our convenience. Here’s to the smell of green trees and fresh grass for the cattle.

I’m off to see the wizard! Have a great day everyone! xx gyps

Hi all. Just got back home form the very last Xmas shopping I’m doing this year. Luckily most people about are friendly and courteous but one invariably gets some grumpy sod who is angry with the world.
Good to see you back Gyspy and in good poetry mode once more.
I’ve got to be honest here and admit to not counting calories or being careful with what I eat. Last night Kim made the most yummy brownies. It was more like a chocolate fondant really. Must get the recipe. I did fit in a vigorous walk this morning which somewhat counteracts my eating pattern of late.

    Morning…or afternoon really everyone.

Enjoyed the pool thanks Fit. Just home from the last big shopping trip. Mostly packed away fridge is chock a block. Lying down for a well earned rest, before meeting my daughter in town to buy curtains for across the front of her house and bedrooms. Hopefully we can get some ready made ones so I don’t have to end up making them. However if I have to I guess it won’t be too bad with her helping me. There are no curtains in any of the bedrooms and the venetians across the front are falling to bits and spotlight is having a 40% off sale on curtains and blinds.

    The saga of the container..

Yesterday afternoon when the container arrived on the truck with Daughters furniture the driver was supposed to be able to drop it on her front lawn but the power Lines were so low that was not possible ..so there was room on a very untidy verge between the road and the footpath in front of her house on a long straight street. So the driver unloaded it there. sHe then rang the freight company and organised for it to be picked up ASAP and not left till the 8th Jan as previously organised. And decided that she needed to see the council today to let them know what she had organised.

When she and OH arrived over at her house this morning there was already a ranger there from the council. Someone had reported the container being unloaded on the kerb and complained overnight..Hewas a very understanding fellow and agreed that there was nowhere else it could go and thanked her for making arrange, nets to get it picked up earlier. So our concern on that issue is now sorted.

I imagine there won’t be a dull moment in our household for a while. Talk to you all later.

Oh PH, there are some fools around! Whatever happened to the Christmas spirit?
Fit, my heart brakes for you. You have put so much effort into the big day, now to have this pain open up again. Being surrounded by thoses you love and who love you is better than being with a large group with a bad underlying currant! Don’t you let this spoil your Christmas, you have put so much effort into it! People somehow will always pick the “right” time to cause unrest, what is wrong with this world? There is so much sadness that is so unnessary. We are here for such a short time, we have a beautiful world, but some refuse to see it. Grrrrr , cheer up dear friend, you know WE love you for who you are, Santa is coming and there is no room or time for misery. I am thinking, maybe it’s better they don’t arrive for Christmas anyway, at least you know it will be a day of peace and harmony…..thoughts are with you with love.
The “new” hair dresser went extremely well. Half the price for twice the job! Can’t complain about that. I have already booked for another 6 weeks, that’s how impressed I am 😃
Happy day to you all team, and let’s drink to that! 😃 Xxxxx

    Fit, I am so sorry.
I am trying to make this xmas a goody as my son arrives home from NY tomorrow and he hasn’t had xmas with us since 2010. Basically all his twenties!
Also my other 3 will be here. Only the 6 of us but I am very excited as it may also be many years before it happens again as various other children have been away over the years too and that isn’t going to change any time soon.

Just red the posts. oh Fit. What a shame for you..however it is the ones who have pulled out that are missing out !!! on your wonderful hospitality and lovely cooking. Enjoy yourself with the family that are coming…your sunny personality will come to the fore and it will be a great day. 🎄🎄🍺🍺🍾🍾🍫🍫🍨🍨🎄🎄🎄

UP thinking that your family is all going to be together for the first time in years. What a special thing to happen for a mother and father. Best Christmas present EVER…🎁🎁🎁🎁🎉🎉

CG ..great that you like your new hairdresser. It makes such a difference to how you feel when you are happy with how your hair is cut.. ✂️✂️
Daughter (and I) very lucky with shopping. Managed to get readymade curtains for all across the front of her house. A nice natural linen look which will go with the white Walls when she gets them painted..and the timber be beams on the ceiling. At a Bargin price per drop. Stoked. Then also found a couple of great natural looking rugs for the floor. That will spruce the place up a bit until she can get it renovated. One very happy gal. I am exhausted and looking forward to an early night.

Fasting Day going well ..2 HB eggs and an apple so fat so should make it easily…so glad I decided to do it. Makes me feel good about myself and will enjoy the next 3 days having all the healthy treats on offer…🍒🍑🍎🍉🍉as well as some unhealthy ones🍷🍸🍹🍫🍨🍾🍾

SueJen..are you OK. Thinking of you and wondering if you are being kind to yourself.💕💕

PH how wonderful for your daughter, putting “herself” into the house will make it feel so much like home for her. I can understand you being exhausted, and fasting too? Wow.
Well the government made it official today, sending me my “Age” pension card. Today I am officially OLD! Yet, reaching 65 doesn’t feel any different to the previous birthdays, but then why should it? Age is gradual as is ageing and even with what my poor body has endure this year, I feel wonderful. Obviously I haven’t fasted, yet not really over indulged either, maybe a bit too much chocolate, also a nut and apple coffee scroll when waiting at the hairdressers. So my weight is 10 different to my age at 75k, but really happy with that. To get to 65 well, healthy and a comfortable weight is all I can ask for ☺️
Up, what a joy having all the family at one sitting especially being Christmas after so many years. I bet a few tears are shed 😃 and rightly so. Like you say, it could be a long time before it happens again, enjoy.
Well, with whiskey and zero on the go, a seafood salad to prepare, I shall leave you now and chat later.
GG, thank you for the early phone call and I hope your day went well. Although with finishing at 11:00 it does make it doable, glad your enjoying the job xxxxxxx

Hi all. Just thought I’d add another bit to try and reach the 200. Fit I’m sorry about your family dramas.
PH what a saga with the container. We had a similar experience many years ago. We had all our goods and shackles shipped via container from overseas. They were supposed to do a door to door service. ie. Load all your stuff from your home in one country and deliver it to your home in the new country. Our stuff was unloaded inPerth where we had to wait for them to reload it. It was then sent to Melbourne and finally to Launceston. I happened to be looking out of the window and saw my prize piano being manhandled in a very precarious fashion. What a shambles. We waited for weeks for it to be delivered. NEVER AGAIN.
Yes CG when I think of my age, well into my 70’s and I’m relatively fit and healthy compared to so many others I am happy and privalaged to have reached this age.
My granddaughter and I have just given Pepper a grooming for Xmas. I bought some detangling spray which he hates for some reason. After the grooming the little devil went and rolled on the lawn which is not nice and green but brown and dry. Last Night he was a hoot. Said GD plays the violin and as we had guests here for dinner we asked her to play a tune. She no sooner started than the pooch went ballistic. He barked ferociously at the violin and kept trying to chase it away. I guess that high tone is a sound dogs don’t like. I wish I’d had a video camera as it was so funny.
    XX Dawg.

Hi team, this site will be down from 8:00 tonight for about an hour whilst they revamp. It’s only an hour so don’t fret if you can’t get on 😀 CG xxxxx

DAWG-There has ben dome happy times happening in your home already. Trust Pepper to start the humerous times off. That wiold have been very lol to see ,him with the violin .
UP-HAVE A VERY HAPPY AEESOME TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY….IT WILL BE SO EXCITING.
ITS RAINING VERY HEAVY HERE AT THE MOMENT.HAVE A FABULOUS NIGHT TREAM AND A EASY FD TOMORROW……GO GAL

Hi folks yes thanks PH for asking after me…been lurking a bit but being kind to myself for sure & doing OK. And then lo and behold presents arrive today from my D well sorry folks but WTF?? You can’t tell someone to drop off the face of the earth & then send presents! I gave only the GK’s presents as that’s what she instructed & now this. Maybe it means something maybe not but I’m not running around to change things now. Nice to have them but a little confusing. I suspect it’s what her counsellor told her to do. Anyway shall leave it there.

Our house is just about neat as a new pin & looking great…a few little touches have been added here & there. Also had a super special last minute invite to Christmas lunch from my best mate in Perth so that was huge for us. Will be with 18 of her family so she said Hek what’s another 2 hon & you’re nearly family anyway! So that’s a huge relief as I don’t need to take a whole Christmas picnic in our esky – just a yummy Christmas Log that I’m making tomorrow & some spiced nuts. Tomorrow just a final vacuum clean the bathrooms pack & put away stuff we don’t want out on show.

So much more positive note here today. Lovely to read about all your Christmas activities & family get-togethers. Not going to try and post individual replies. But have a lovely day everyone. Is anyone fasting tomorrow? I’m planning to do a sort-of FD – for as long as I can then I’ll probably cave in the afternoon sometime but at least it will still be lower than normal. suejen XXXX

    Hi All,
Thank you for all the kind messages. Had a bad night but will pull myself together.
    Gyps – so thrilled that you will have your son this year, what a treat! 🙂 Safe travels to him. Hope the weather is not too severe; we’re expecting storm force wind and rain here too but it won’t be anything like what you’re expecting. I think you’ll have to tie down the gypsybelle for a while!! 😉 Mind your little leprechaun and I hope someone pampers and spoils you, as you are always looking after everyone else except yourself! {{{{ }}}}
Dawg – more great witticisms….thank you 🙂 We are all going to indulge over the next few days and there is no point in spoiling the fun by feeling guilty. We know we can redress the balance by a few FDs in the new year; so enjoy it all! Great story about Pepper and the violin…..must have been hilarious! 🙂 Xxxx
PH – so glad you got the curtains for your daughter and that she got the removals container sorted….it was very wise of her to pre-empt the neighbour’s complaints; hopefully they will see that she is just the kind of thoughtful person who will be a great addition to the neighbourhood. Take a well-earned rest now and I hope the weather is kind to you too xxxxx
CG – as they say, age is only a number; it’s how you feel on the inside and your outlook on life that counts – so you are far from old in the ways that matter!! I’m sure you will have a great time with your two and four-legged family. Looking back on your year and seeing how far you have come, must give you tremendous satisfaction. Be proud and give yourself a huge pat on the back!! 🙂 🙂 So glad you are pleased with the hairdresser….it’s a wonderful feeling!
    GG – I’m delighted to hear that you are finally getting to put your feet up, so well-deserved!! Have a wonderful time {{{{ }}}}
SJ – you are doing really well getting on with your life and plans for Christmas. Don’t let anything derail you from that. How wonderful and kind of your friend to invite you and OH for Christmas day….an unexpected treat. It will distract you and you can make the most of good company and being surrounded by goodwill and laughter. Xxxx
Going to try to fast today and maybe a semi tomorrow. I will distract myself with the rest of the clean-up and focus on all my blessings.

Thank you Fit, but birthdays only come once a year and you do reflect on things. It’s been a good year despite the few issues. Age IS only a number and it’s never worried me. Seeing it in writing from the government dept makes it official though 😏 but it does take more than that to offend me. My hair appointment was my present to myself, does you good to shout yourself something 😀 and I’ve finished the day making a chocolate slice to add to the Christmas table 😀 yummmm…xxxxx

Suejen, what a blessing to have a friend like that, and a terrific surprise for you. To be sharing Christmas day with others keeps your mind off problems too. I’m sure your house is gleaming, I hope you find the same with the house you are swapping for. Time to put your feet up, ignore unwanted issues and start thinking of the holiday and fun ahead….cuddles….CG xxxx 😉

    Hi All,

Home from a very long day over at the house we are renovating. I have been trying to keep up with all the posts but failing dismally. We will be out all day again tomorrow so I don’t think I will catch up until after Boxing Day!

We had a fast day today and that will be the last until next Sunday.

A number of people have expressed interest in the Toblerone Cheesecake recipe. The recipe I used came from a book by Kim McCosker called Thermo-Struck. However a very similar recipe (which does not require a Thermomix can be found at the following website. I hope I am not breaking any rules including the link. https://www.philly.com.au/recipe/toblerone-cheesecake/

I will try to post again tomorrow to contribute to the quest for the 200 pages.

Sweet Dreams to all of us who are heading to bed and Good Morning to all of those who are waking up to a new day.

    Katylee

Katy no rules broken at all. I’m sure a lot of ADers will be trying the recipe, thank you. Have a lovely Christmas and see you when you can post.

    Hi all

very disappointing birthday – thought some of my facebook friends would have sent me a ktten – a LOT of them are breeders and i reckon most of ’em have one or seventeen to spare.

Waited in most of the day, no delivery – I had even written down all my excuses to OH in case I got more than three – well, I reckon he could have coped with three, fourteen or fifteen might had needed a lot of quick thinking.

But alas, no kit – and not even a german shepherd pup either – which would have been VERY useful as son’s Christmas presents haven’t arrived yet. He also wanted cash for a computer, we had been down the backs of all the sofas and chairs, emptied the holiday jar and dug in all the pockets, think we can afford the plug!. Did occur to me that a GSD puppy would have put all thoughts of cash out of his mind.

So, will now need to prise open OHs wallet or get him to visit an atm to get some cash – honestly, he is a Scotsman – persuading him to keep 15 kittens, though a tad difficult – would be easier than getting him to take more a tenner out of the bank at one time!

So, looking to block unfriend most of my facebook friends – its times like this I am very thankful that I don’t have three hundred facebook friends – I might be getting old but I don’t remember having more than a couple of dozen friends in my whole life!!! Am I just johnny no mates?

Will be if I don’t get a kitten for Christmas – drowned my sorrows in charmpagne and chocolates yesterday – I have a feeling I will have to do the same on Christmas day!

Unless one of you has though to send me an Australian Mist???????

Milena, is it your birthday too, 23rd?? Wow, we share a birthday! Sorry can’t help with a kitten but suggest you try the nearest animal shelter,, there are always beautiful kittens looking for a loving home, Happy birthay mate 😀 xx
Funny, we have Scotts blood and I’ve always told my kids they are canny with money, his new boss is from Scotland, and my son says he never buys lunch when the others put an order in, then remember what I’d said. 😏 true or not, he believed me! Xxx

Happy birthday to you too, Milena – you’re in great company with CG! 🙂 Choccies and champagne sound like the ideal birthday to me!! I’m sure people are very wary of giving pets at Christmas, maybe you’ll wake up on the 1st Jan with 15 kittens on your doorstep! 😉 I, too, am supposed to have Scottish ancestry but being canny with money is not one of the traits I’ve inherited!! I love tartan and have a kilt, though – does that count?
Katy – thanks for the link to the recipe; there are no rules here to be broken – we’re all big girls now (pardon the pun!) and we can choose to eat or not to eat, to bake or not to bake! 🙂 Xxxx

Hi lovely Aussies – I saw that you were aiming for 200 pages and thought I’d drop by from the Binger Island thread to help out + say Merry Christmas, happy birthday(s), and a lovely holiday season to you all! You are a merry lot of folks and I have stopped by before (though rudely without saying hi). Now though, as a teacher, I’m on holiday with a bit of extra time. And, while I’m trying to stay out of the kitchen (not to mention the shops), I’ve camped in my easy chair, reading the “recent posts” and feeling as though I have gotten to know you a bit. FYI I’m not an Aussie – though I do have an Australian Shepherd 🙂 – but hail from the southern United States. Lest my heritage be misleading with recent political news, I assure anyone reading that my parents raised me “better than that.”

We’re expecting company this evening, so I’ll be off to try to clear the place of pet hair – but my best to each of you in this season of love. jade x

Hi Jade! How nice of you to pop by and share your Christmas spirit! What a lovely gesture! You might know I’m not an Aussie either but hail from the Emerald Isle (Ireland). What state are you from and do you have that wonderful southern belle accent? You have obviously been very well raised since you posted here to help us reach our target of 200 pages. I often read the recent posts too while all the lovely ladies here are catching up on their beauty sleep! I have noticed your thread and could certainly call myself a binger too, especially when it comes to chocolate! 😉 Thank you for dropping in and you will be most welcome to call again! Happy Christmas and best of luck for 2016!

Hear hear, Jade and thankyou for helping. Awful night trying to sleep,, 2:40am and still wide awake, wearing a track to and from the kitchen from my bedroom, maybe waiting to hear Santas sleigh, but I’m a night early! These nights hit every so often, but I think it’s just the excitement in the air. My birthday, now awaiting Santas arrival, more importantly being with family to celebrate our blessings 😃
Fit you sound back on top, so pleased for you. I’m planning to be on my ride on tomorrow (actually today) if I can stay awake! I think too we pressure ourselves for just one day the brain forgets to slow down at rest time. Well back to bed, thanks for the birthday wish Fit, GG sang to me this morning on the phone, God love her. Even as we age it is nice to be acknowledged on our special day 😌 Okay back to bed, the sun will be up soon!! Xxxxx

    Sweet dreams, CG, I hope!! Trying my best to be positive or else I might be bending over to receive one of your timely kicks in the a**!! 😉 Hope you managed to get some sleep or at least a rest before all the excitement truly begins {{{ }}}

Hi girls – I’m from Georgia, Fit, so yes, a true southern drawl. As for being a belle, If you can believe it, I made my “debut” in the 70s at something called the Cotton Ball. My mom thought that was such nonsense! But I was so surprised to be asked (we had no money or social connections – maybe it was a Steve Harvey moment??) that I wanted to go just to see what high society in the Appalachian Mountains was like. Not my cup of tea – as usual, mom was right 🙂

I finally got to Ireland this year, and what a gorgeous country you live in! Would love to go to Australia someday, too. So many places to explore – even here in the US – but husband and I are slowing down a bit. And I am plopping down in this chair too often! You’d think I was a kid waiting for Santa instead of Santa herself. Back to the chores with me. x

How interesting, Jade. I’d love to visit Atlanta someday; to see ‘Gone with the wind’ territory. Did you know Scarlet O’Hara’s plantation was called Tara…..an ancient historical site very close to where I live! It’s a pity I didn’t know you before your visit; we could have met up! Where did you see in Ireland? I’ve been doing lots of chores too – also dealing with pet hair; boy, does it get everywhere!!

I did not know there was a Tara in Ireland! There is quite the history all around Georgia – also in Louisiana, where I lived for a time in New Orleans. Wonderful town and such great food (oops). I have experienced the best of both worlds, deep-fried Southern everything and spicy Cajun seafood, all of which I love. Of course.

Ha, I may yet return to Ireland! We enjoyed our visit so much we didn’t want to leave – such beauty around the Dingle Peninsula, and then we took the train across Ireland to Dublin, where we spent a whole week. It was all so lovely, with friendly welcomes everywhere we went. We often imagine that the whole world hates Americans, so it was a nice surprise to be treated so kindly. I went with a group of students so it was fairly non-stop adventure. Spent most of the rest of the summer in this chair where I still sit!

Yes, back to dealing with pet hair – my own could use a good shampoo as well 🙂

Morning team, evening girls, Jake I wish you could stay with us and become a team member. I’d love to see the south too, especially dixie land country, New Orleans. Love the gentle accent and so much old tradition there. Oh well one can dream. Got 4 hrs sleep so a huge nanny nap this arvo no doubt, gotta be awake for the carols by candlelight tonight on telly. Gonna be another stinker today, so into the chores early but not working too hard, I want to be fresh and rested for the big day tomorrow.
So coffee brewing, a quick refreshing shower then into it 😃 sweet dreams girls xxxxx

Tara was the ancient seat of the high kings of Ireland which is why my county, Meath, is called the Royal County. I live about 40km from Dublin. I’m delighted to hear you had a good time here and that you received such a warm welcome.
CG – make sure you have a really good nanny nap, so you can enjoy the carols. I will be singing carols on Christmas eve with my church choir from 8.15pm until 9pm when the mass proper will start. We sing alot throughout the mass too, so I almost have no voice by the time I get home. The church is always packed and the atmosphere is lovely. Then my family who live near and a few friends and neighbours come back to our house for drinks, nibbles and mince pies…..it’s great!

I have been busy in the garden trying to get everything one deep water before Christmas day. With the extreme heat last week some plants just died. I went out for a few hours and came home and the hot house was destroyed. It was a steel reinforced plastic on four redgum sleepers. The whole thing was lifted and moved 40 cm away from its original position. I got it off some of the plants was it was resting on some pots. All that is left is the frame. The plants inside were burnt to a shrivel being exposed to the 40 degree days.

We have already had our family Christmas and the weight has already gone. I will only have my youngest home. He just split with GF dumped via SMS. I have got together a care package the little pantry things that you forget to buy, plus anything leftover from Christmas day meals. He can eat party food as his job is physical. Usually about 30,000 steps per day. On a sale day he did 70,000 steps on his fitbit.

Some family members try to get under our skins especially tomorrow. I read somewhere that we cannot change what people say, we can only change our reaction to it. My adult children tried to revisit old squabbles a few years back and I told them that my parenting role was finsihed as they were over 21 and they had to sort out their own problems.

I hope that everyone enjoys their Christmas day tomorrow. No one really remembers a spotless house but they do remember the happiness of the day. Enjoy and saviour the time with your families it is so fleeting.

Gosh GL – sounds like you have been having some extreme weather too. Take care. Great to hear you found the holiday weight has already gone….well done. I was going to fast today and lasted until about 4pm but then started eating and didn’t really stop since!! It’s been a funny day – ups and downs and lots of emotions….I think I’m high on cleaning products to be honest!!!!!

Hi all. Happy birthday CG and Milena!

Hi Jade, I spent a little time in Athens, Georgia…home of the B52’s and REM! Hot in the summer!

I hope Fit and SJ that you have a nice day and just let it all wash over you, especially you, SJ, don’t dwell and overthink it.

Son gets here in an hour, around the same time as my cleaner. I am lucky to have her but the thing is I have to find the house first so she can clean it. It is quite out of control right now!

A bit of xmas humour for you all.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-23/pobjie-seven-signs-you're-having-an-aussie-christmas/7045380

Hi Everyone boy what a busy place it is here despite being nearly Christmas. CG I’m so sorry I didn’t get to wish you a Happy Birthday ON your birthday but only a little late I guess. Happy happy birthday dear & no doubt today you’re looking very glam after your hairdo & ready for Christmas Eve.
Thanks Up yes I will have a nice day now that we’re having Christmas lunch with our best mates & their family. They can be our substitute family for the day! Ha your cleaner might have a challenge on her hands today. Have fun and savour every minute of the wonderful time with your kids!!
Fit enjoy those precious family members that you’ll be with…no matter what the number. Just shower each of them with a bit more love than you’d usually be able to do. XXX
GL sorry about your hothouse & plants….with 40o heat no wonder the plants burnt to a crisp. And GL so right with your attitude re your parenting role…yes it’s over. You’ve done your job & they truly can sort it out themselves.
Hi Jade nice to have a southern belle with us if only for a while!
Milena fancy having 2 of us on such a small forum having birthdays on the same day. Wow!! Happy Birthday to you..no kitten eh but bet you got some lovely presents?!
GG you sure sound like you’re working your pretty little a** off with your job! Enjoy a well-earned break after your work today.
Dawg sounds like you had such a fun night with Pepper and the violin!! Would have been soo funny to capture it on video. You should get her to play again today and do it!
PH you’ve already done your FD that was clever thinking I reckon! Christmas Eve is a tad hard to do a FD on but will hold out as long as I can. About to have my morning coffee.
Gyps as usual loved the poems & you’ve certainly done your bit to get to the 200 pages…well and truly.

Well have a truly lovely Christmas Eve gang. I’ve just got a bit of last minute cleaning making the raspberry Buche de Noel or Christmas Log as our contribution for the day & then packing & putting away ready for our exchangers. Leaving around 8am tomorrow morning to avoid the traffic & get to Perth in time for lunch. Enjoy your Christmas eve and Christmas day folks. Make lots of memories with your family or friends & enjoy every precious moment. Sit back relax & enjoy the fruits of all that darn cleaning we’ve been doing!! suejen XXXX

May not be on for a few days till we’re settled into or house…we’ll see.

Thank you UP – I sure will enjoy myself, don’t you worry! Can you send your cleaner over here too please…I still have places to clean….why does my house seem to be huge when it needs cleaning? Thanks for the laugh too 🙂
