  • Hi All!
Well the good news is I have no aches and pains after all the yard work yesterday…the bad news is the scales haven’t moved a jot since last week!! Definitely on a plateau so Gyps, send me the number for those Plateau Busters pleeeeeeeese!!!!
CG – so sorry to hear you are still not feeling well and hope you find the answer soon. Meanwhile, take it easy and listen to your body – you know the drill. Hugs to you (((( ))))
GG – what a lovely birthday treat for your friend and how wonderful that she could see how much you’ve changed. You are right to be so proud of your arms and shoulders and I’ve no doubt that you will continue to see improvements in the tummy area too xxxx Tried on my sister’s dress and it fits but doesn’t suit me very well. So I dragged out lots of outfits from the back of the wardrobe and found a fifties style skirt which I love and I’m going to treat myself to a new top to go with it.
UP – I had to laugh at your comment about stones and kg! I’m always trying to work out the comparison because I grew up using stones and pounds and I can’t really think in kg at all. I’m 10st3lbs at the moment which I think is 65.5kg. I would love to get down to 10st or lower but can’t seem to shift those last few lbs…so near and yet so far. I’m at the very top of my wriggle room and any slackening sees me gain a kg or two overnight!!
SJ – good luck with the clear out and the sewing. What a lovely project to be working on; those little girls are very lucky indeed!
Doggy – how wonderful of that farmer’s wife to give the foxes a safe haven. There is a move on here to have drag hunting (which just uses scent for the hounds and horses to follow) rather than a live quarry – much more humane. It’s becoming more popular, so hopefully that will replace the traditional hunting soon. Figures for obesity and diabetes are very scary indeed, especially in young children.
PH – I hope the new meds bring you relief soon and that you don’t have to stay on them for long. Unlike most other people though, you are on 5:2, so you have a secret weapon to help counteract weight gain….best of luck! πŸ™‚
Gyps – hope you feeling very virtuous after all the spring cleaning and that the bourbon did the trick!! πŸ˜‰
Welcome, Isbutter – you will probably lose alot quite quickly in the beginning and then the losses slow down. Your target is doable, I think, but remember that Christmas comes right in the middle and it can be hard not to overindulge with all the goodies on offer. Whatever you lose, you will be doing yourself and your health a great favour and you will look and feel much better by next March. Read the book, if you haven’t already and work out your TDEE (in the How It Works heading at the top of this page). Then plan and prepare for your fast days in advance so that you are not derailed by unforseen circumstances. Ask any questions you like here and someone will answer you. Best of luck!!
French class and ballroom dancing today so I’m also trying to fast, as I will be well distracted. I have lunch out tomorrow, my usual FD but will try to exercise portion control…wish me luck!

Isb, boil up a couple of eggs, they are great for the 4:00 hungries but remember to count the cals, also miso soup is very low in cals and filling ? you’ll get there, one day at a time ? xxxxx salads and soups are a wonderful main stay with low cals for meals too, but protein is what helps keep you fuller for longer so a piece of fish, chicken…..tofu!….xxxxxxx

    Thanks all!!

Do you guys tend to have small snacks throughout there day or do the 500 all in one hit at night. Im guessing everyone is different and you just do whatever you can to make it through the day haha

Isb, it’s a personal choice, I don’t eat breakfast and usually about 2:00 have something, sometimes just go all day till dinner on teas and coffee. Each fast can be different, some hard, some easy, you can get quite chilly too so need hot fluids. Wait until you do a few to see how you go.
I’m off to bed team, nighty nite ?…xxxxxxx

Isb – in the book, Dr M advises leaving as long as possible between meals in order to reap the health benefits but it’s up to you, as long as you stay under 500 cals. Some days I have breakfast and then light late evening meal with nothing in between; other days I save it all for just one meal in the early evening and once in a while, I have no breakfast, small snack in the middle of the day and then an evening meal. I think it can depend on what else you have going on that day and how you are feeling – however, think it through beforehand because playing it by ear can cause one to give into temptation.
Very happy with my FD so far and I’ll be going to my dance class for two hours soon, so as long as I don’t get the munchies when I get back, things may be better on the scales in the morning. It’s been a lovely mild day again here, but I’ve really been feeling the cold, so I’m looking forward to the dancing to warm me up!!

Good morning team, beautiful steady soft rain falling here. No wind and the world feels peaceful. Storms are predicted later, but if this holds up that’s fine, it’s good soaking rain. Even the birds seem to be walking ? just to get a freshen up………..
Fast day too, like most of you, quite mild so still tossing up on what to have later as a meal. Just having my milky coffee to start my day then will busy myself, (after my Dr’s appt) maybe giving a kitchen cupboard a good tidy up. Staying busy does help the day pass without thinking of food, so it might as well be worth while ?
YOU ARE NOT ALONE on your 5:2 journey, we are all here for each other, understanding the personal struggles we each have, some fasts go smoothly and others just seem impossible. Give yourself time to think before you eat, even 5 minutes, DO YOU REALLY NEED IT? Whatever you put in your mouth, robs you of cals in your main satisfying meal in the evening, so really think twice before snacking today. If your day somehow gets sabotaged, fast tomorrow instead, don’t beat yourself up about it, 5:2 is so flexible and days can be swapped. Remember 5:2 is part of our lives not all of it.
So, soldier on team, YOU CAN DO IT, your AUSSIE DETERMINATION will keep you honest with yourself, post with us and let us know how you are doing. BRING IT ON, you are stronger than you think ?…. Xxxxxxx

Hi team. Welcome Isb. By the way butter is a fat, not a carb but high in calories, unfortunately. I personally eat thee meals a day and divvy up the calories between them.
PH you do seem to be having ongoing health issues. I hope the prednisone helps you. By the way I see in a earlier post that you also suffer from constipation since starting the 5:2. This has been an ongoing issue for me as well. I take Metamucil regularly. Some time back I had a bad dose of the flu and stopped fasting. My bowel habits returned to normal. It’s a nuisance but I feel one has to weigh up the pros and cons. There is another thread on this website wher others discuss this same problem.
It’s muggy here today with the promise of rain later. Bring it on.
FD here too. Boiled eggs, smoked salmon and a large salad are on my menu today. Possibly a Jarrah hot chokkie drink if I haven’t exceeded my 500 calories.

Hi all, just back from a very quick run to the dermatologist for an emergency spot check.(Melanoma history) Probably will be fine but will get results either tomorrow or Monday.

Anyway, the point of telling you that is that I wore a skirt. I usually wear pants or a dress but it is to hot for pants and the spot is on my back so didn’t need to undress completely. Put on a favourite old skirt and it fitted well! The top I used to wear turned out to have paint on it, my daughter was laughing as all my good clothes seem to end up with paint on them somehow. Had to stick on a form fitting t shirt and no tummy to speak of, which is a major win for me.

Anyway, as I was lamenting that I won’t be able to nibble on the leftover cup lunch goodies such as cheeses and relishes, it has inspired me to go happily into my fast today. Feeling good about yourself and walking out into the world with confidence is well worth a day or 2 of deprivation!

And let’s face it, we aren’t even really being deprived at all. So, go forward Aussie Determinators and have a great day! I will be painting something my son has asked for but have already changed out of my good clothes πŸ˜‰

Really should have read my post before I hit send. Typos and poor punctuation.
Sentences too long. No gold star for me.

Back from the dance class – it was great fun. I’m just drinking lots of water and not interested in food…what?? Did I just say that??!!! I’ll be off to bed soon and hope to see a good result on the scales in the morning……here’s hoping!!
Glad to hear you finally got some decent rain, CG and hope you get some too, Doggy.

Never mind, Up – we still got the message! What a wonderful feeling – woohoo!! πŸ™‚

Up fantastic results that you can wear a skirt AND a form fitting tshirt. Woohoo to you!! No wonder you’re launching into your FD with enthusiasm.
And Fit …back from a dance class and not hungry??!! You better put your halo on too like Milena. Maybe the northern hemispherites have sonething special happening, maybe Gyps could tell us!
Doggie I can’t do 5:2 without metamucil and when I remember I take 2 lots on a FD. From memory I think I’ve had better losses on thise days too.
CG so right about giving yourself time to think so I really need this. But also my biggest discovery with this WOL is that mostly I’ve found I’m not hungry….but I’m thirsty. And it’s taken 5:2 to show me that. So now it’s always a glass of water first….then I usually forget all about it!
Isb welcome. I started with hb egg for brekky and one for lunch then a smaller main meal. Didn’t think I could manage less. Now I have a coffee with splash of milk for brekky then nothing till 2 3 or 4pm on a good day when I have my egg. Then more cals for dinner and my fave….a Jarrah hot choc in the evening at only 47 cals. My sweet hit!

Better head out the door to work and then pilates. Talk later. Suejen xxxx

SJ – my halo is well buried under all the chocolates and cake I’ve overindulged in over the last few weeks – it’ll take more than one good FD to undo all that! πŸ˜‰

Yoohoo! The mob. Hi and welcome ISB, I find the longer the gap between meals the bett the resul and the book states that one does not start to burn fat until they’ve fasted for 9 hours, so extending the night fast to lunchtime is , as CG does, is effective. Good to see you have a goal and incentive, 20 k’s might be pushing it in just 5 months, but it won’t disappoint. Even if you lose half of that you will find your shape changes quite dramatically. Some exercise targeting , like weights, and a few minutes of high intensity (cycling?) a couple of times a week will move things quicker and also help with the sags. Slower loss is better for that reason -plus more sustainable. It is exciting in the first few months as you see the scales begin to move downwards. (You’ll wish you started in your youth!)Its no quick fix, but it works and it will last as long as you choose to maintain the better way of eating that it will lead you to. Long term goals are very easy once you actually SEE what 10 Kilos gone looks like , and more to the point, what it feeeel’s! like. Keep us posted. Luck to you

Will get back later today, have to go , visitors. have a good day all. xxgyps

Hi team back from the doctor (and shopping……..golly food is getting SOOO expensive ) anyway, I’m heading off for a scan, he thinks it’s my gall bladder causing all the pain…BUGGAR! I asked if he could change the diagnosis because I just don’t want more surgery this year. He laughed and said, let’s see what the scan reveals, so next Thursday, off I go. I don’t think there are many of us here that aren’t hanging out for New Year’s Eve! It’s been traumatic for all of us in one way or another.
Fast was going well till I started unpacking the shopping, damn, a taste of this a nibble of that, so I have no idea what cals I nibbled on. Anyway will continue my fast on guess work ? hoping I didn’t do too much damage. Just heard my first calf was born this morning, nearly all black, bit of white on her back legs, should be here tomorrow or day after ? so life keeps rolling on.
Think positive team, the only failure is your own thoughts ?….xxxxxxxxxxx

Up I do hope your pathology results come back as benign. I also have to go to the dermatologist as I spent a carefree youth with far too much sun exposure.
CG damn damn damn. I do hope for your sake that it’s not your gall bladder. What a bummer. The new calf sounds lovely.
Earlier on I had a reasd of some other threads. There is an interesting one going re high blood pressure. A few people attribute their HBP to the 5:2 diet. I’m more than sceptical that this is the case. I’ve been on meds for high blood pressure for a few years. I’ve found mine has come down since starting our WOE. I’m of the opinion that there are some other reasons for the spike in theirs.

Hi CG, I hope it is not your gall bladder but my husband had his out years ago and the surgery was fine, still surgery though and I get where you are coming from this year! My husband had to cancel a work trip to Spain of all places but once had had the surgery he was well fairly quickly. The nurses couldn’t believe it when he woke from the anaesthetic and asked for his computer. He is a workaholic, granted, but he felt up to that although that may just have been the morphine doing its job!

I’m with you doggie, I can’t believe that blood pressure would go up because of this. If anything, losing weight would give the results you have had.

My daughter still is faint on fast days after months. Michael says 5/2 doesn’t cause this and says your body has enough stored glucose or whatever. I am sceptical about this though because she is not dreaming it, and it only happens on fast days. I think she has low blood sugar normally and this just exacerbates it. I have a blood test referral which until now I had forgotten about. I had better get onto it and see how I go.
Blood pressure is excellent but then it was perfect before as well! I am more interested in cholesterol as I was previously borderline.

Struggling this afternoon and broke out a dry corn thin and an extra spoonful of cottage cheese, will keep on though.

UT I wouldn’t call a corn thin & a bit of cottage cheese breaking out! If you’re struggling and you manage with just that as extra you’re doing brilliant! Hang in there….you know you CAN do this!!! My bp is much better than before so must be something else.
    CG think positive for now until you get the results….may not be. {{{ }}}

In the middle of cutting out my patterns. I’m a bit rusty I find but we’ll get there!! Sj xxx

Up that is a worry with your daughter, is she eating enough overall, and eating up to her fast day cals. Seeing you lose so much could be pushing herself to equal your loss. Have her bloods done when she’s fasting, preferably by day’s end when she is feeling faint. Maybe that will show something, also is she keeping her fluids up? Your corn thin will hardly guage on you Up I’m positive ☺️ and Yes, I’m not worried if I do need this op, it’s just damn inconvenient! Lexie, (like what I’ve named her??) my new calf arrives in the morning, the other heifer isn’t in too big a rush to give birth, so unsure when it’s due, but it all means carrying milk, and lifting much after any op isn’t easy. Roll on New Years Eve! Next year has gotta be better for all of us, right?
Suejen, I’m sure once you’re head down tail up, it will all come back to you. I haven’t had calves for two years and just studied
up on milk portions, once read, it all came back ?
Still haven’t had dinner, I’m hungry, but uncomfortable, so maybe later, if it’s not gall bladder, I’d like to know what the devil is happening in my tummy ?

buggar buggar buggar. Just lost a really long post €££>><%%Β₯Β₯# bloody. Bloody. Bloody ????????
Can’t do it all again, have read and enjoyed all of your posts …so a big hi to all of you.

CG hope your scan is kind to you !

Welcome Isb. You won’t regret joining this thread..it is great.

Had a good day today. Very busy and enjoyable. New pills are MAGIC. Feeling much better.

    Nite nite all???

    Hi All!
Oh, PH, I feel your pain!! πŸ™ It’s an absolute bummer to lose a long post – hope your pain is easing and that you are having a good day xxx
CG – Poor you! You could do without more surgery this year so I hope it’s not necessary. Please mind yourself while taking care of the calves; it would be just awful to undo all the progress you have made with your back in the last few months.
UP – hope you get good results on the spot check. As to cholesterol, I was on meds for mine, then stopped for three months while doing 5:2, but have to go back on the meds again so I don’t think this wol lowers cholesterol. I agree your daughter should get her blood sugars checked just to be on the safe side. Has she much to lose? Maybe she could ease off to 6:1 for a while until things settle down? I have to say your idea of ‘breaking out’ and mine are verrrrrry different!! πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ (Remember toblerone-gate?!!)
SJ – enjoy the dress making; I’m sure it will all turn out beautifully. There’s nothing like a challenging project to prove an ideal distraction from life’s troubles – get stuck in and you will have immense satisfaction when you see how much pleasure you have brought to your GDs.
Scales showed 400g loss this morning, but my problem is trying to keep that loss and not go back up again after a couple of normal days. I’m really looking forward to my school reunion tomorrow – I got a simple black top and some cheap blingy jewellery to dress it up and I’m good to go!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!! Xxxxx
Gypsy – great advice for our newby. Enjoy the visitors but don’t drink all CG’s bourbon!! πŸ˜‰

    Hi all.

Fit, I think we should change our “race” to “who can achieve the least” as we both seem to be in synch with each other. I am back in the 64’s after 2 successful fasts. 2 big parties and no fasting last week is the cause. We will get there eventually though! Tobleronegate! Yes, that puts things into perspective! Enjoy the reunion!

Thanks for concern re my daughter. She isn’t really needing to lose weight, she does put on easily so she does this more as a maintenance thing so she can eat whatever she wants on the other days in a young party person’s way.

I agree CG, bring on the new year! Enjoy your calf, I am envious!

She definitely eats the full 500 on fast days and is often lamenting no caloreis left after about 4pm. She needs to eat a lot earlier than we do so tends to fast the same days but eat before us and do her own thing. I have spoken to her previously about fluid, I think she drinks plenty.

I know she fainted once during Hot Yoga, long before fasting but hadn’t eaten for many hours before that so it is a thing with her. I will have to get her to bring it up with the doc next time she is there.

She has always been the sort who needs to eat as soon as she wakes whereas I can’t eat at all when I first awaken. Anyway, although she suffers a bit on fast days, she seems to want to stick with it but maybe I will suggest that she has 600 cals rather than 500 and see if that helps. Or maybe eat a piece of fruit extra.

Still having internet issues, maybe I need a new router or something.

PH, I am glad the steroids are working.

Hope you all had positive, or maybe negative? weigh ins.
    Cheers

Hi Up – yes, we are a right pair! I clocked in at 64.4kg this morning but I’ll probably be back up again tomorrow!! I’ll definitely be waaaaay up after my reunion!! Oh well, that’s the joy of the 5:2 merrygoround! Hope your daughter gets to the bottom of her fainting spells.

Hi everyone. Up has your daughter had her bold pressure checked recently. Sometimes people with low BP feel faint. It’s worth checking.
CG love the name Lexie. If Pepper had been a bitch I was going to call her Lexie. I do hope you manage to get your abdominal pain issues sorted out soon. Somehow I can’t see you fitting into the stereotype – Fair, fat , fourty and fertile. Now that must have been though up by a man.
I’ve just done my weigh in etc and am down by just a tiny smidgen. Only 125 gms but that’s better then going up. My waist measurement is also down by a centimetre. Slow but sure I’m hoping. I’m still getting out for a walk due to *%#+€Β₯<# knee. As we live many miles away from our closest capital city which is Launceston, ‘m going to contact the surgeon and ask him to send me a referral for a MRI. That way I won’t have to go backwards and forwards to have various tests done.
We had 25 mls of rain overnight which was just great. I love the sound of rain water gushing and gurgling down the drainpipe off the roof and into our tanks. We have the possibility of a storm predicted today and it sure feels like it. It’s all hot and muggy.
CG I’ve turned on the autocorrect again as the previous setting was annoying me. Now seem of the stuff I type in has taken on a meaning all of its own. It’s rather like Siri. I dictate Siri you are an idiot and that seems to work. Technology I love it but it can be infuriating.
    Enjoy the day all.

Good idea, Doggie! We actually have a BP thing here at home. But I know she had it checked recently and it was OK.

My dog Wally has been out gardening with me today and really wanted to play with some nesting bush turkeys. He had to show great restraint! We had loads of rain overnight and it makes the weeds easier to deal with. Very hot and muggy today though in Brisbane.

Doggy, have you tried asking Siri to “talk dirty to me”? Very funny, and if you ask a few times she usually gives you different answers!

Fit, that is exactly what I weigh today too. I knew we were in synch!

Hi team, late post for me today. I’ve had the Foxtel here this morning updating their equipment so not a lot done. Tummy still not happy, buy very hungry this morning so had toast, butter and jam…then…my smoothy! I weighed in at 74.1k but bet that’s moved up a bit now. Trying to control my tummy is doing my head in, I feel hungry, then “strange” but not satisfied when I eat. Oh well, hope they find out whats going on soon.
Very overcast and low clouds here in the hills today, almost looks foggy, but the clouds are on the ground ? very wet underfoot, lovely rain yesterday, and like you Doggy, love the sound of it pouring down my pipes into my tank. A lot colder today too, glad the cricket is on ?, good day to sit and watch it. Bit of housework to do but another rest up I think. Just got a call, they are bringing Lexie down now, shes not happy leaving her Mum, so could be a bit iffy for a day but will love me once she gets some warm milk in the bottle ?
Have a relaxed Friday team, the hard yards are over now so enjoy ?…xxxxxxxx

HI All not much change here for weigh-in today at 69.6 up .2 from my best of 69.4. Seem to be like you Fit putting on too much weight in between FD’s. Happy to still be in the 60’s but don’t like seeing the 70’s appear again in between! Would love to get down to 68 so that dratted 7 doesn’t show itself again. Never mind it’s coming sometime soon.
CG love your Lexie name but do be careful around her. Stand near some support maybe so it’s safer for you? She will love you to bits no doubt & you in return!Do hope your tummy sorts itself out soon or that they find the cause CG…you have enough to cope with at the moment & you’re doing so well!
UT & Dawg you’re a laugh with your Siri suggestions – specially you UT!! What a gem! Doggie take every smidgeon of weight loss & every cm that you can. It all adds up in the end. My waist was up so go figure…stopped measuring after that!
UT hope your daughter gets her 5:2 problems sorted out. It certainly would be a great way to go for someone younger who tends to put weight on. Gee wish I’d have known about it early on!
I get the feeling our Christmas challenge is going to be just that…a bit of a HUGE challenge!!! We’re all going to get more social as we head in the festive season so we’re going to have to come up with some fantastic ideas to avoid either long plateaus or gains. Any ideas folks??
Fit so glad you got your outfit sorted & classic B&W is always great. I’ve started pinning & cutting & it’s all coming back to me Fit – just have to check a few things as I go, so a bit slower than usual. Enjoying it a lot. Will post a photo of the 3 when I’m done.
PH so glad your new pills are MAGIC!! & that you’re feeling better.

Well onto our PC days. I have to try and think of them that way rather than feast days OR even feed days I think, as I tend to go overboard just a TAD!! So I have to find a middle ground somehow where my WOE is not a diet not restrictive, but sensible healthy eating with some PC treats thrown in. Have a great day all suejen XXXX

Here’s the sort of approach I’m talking about”:

“Plan in your treats. Yes, that’s right – I am saying, plan in wine and chocolate eating!! Nope, I have not gone crazy, but I know, that most of you are probably going to be having those things anyway, but rather than in a β€˜I shouldn’t have eaten that, but sod it now I have started and feel guilty anyway, I might as well eat the whole container’ kind of way…. you are planning to sit down, consciously, with awareness to enjoy a small delicious, tasty treat that is all about pleasure and joy – and to be healthy, there is nothing wrong with that. And yes, you can still shift kilos doing it, provided that the rest of your food is in great balance.
You really are MUCH better to plan in a small chocolate bar and a couple glasses of wine a week and REALLY enjoy them, than tell yourself you will not have them at all and then end up having double the amount you would have had if you had planned it in.
To make healthy happen, focus more on increasing your healthy habits and helpful behaviours, then the unhealthy habits will fade away. Drown out the negative, with positive. It works.”

Here’s a link to the full article in case you’re interested. http://www.claireturnbull.co.nz/ditch-deprivation I do feel that 5:2 has helped a lot of us move in the right direction here. We don’t feel deprived all the time & that’s why we stick at it!! sj XX

Hi all. Weighed in this morning even though I did not fast two days and lost .1 of a kg. At least not upwards . Hopefully can maintain through these Magic tablets. Congrats to everyone on their results. Will get back to the 5.2 next week with renewed vigour.???

Had a great day today , went up to my brothers and spent most if the day with cousins down visiting from Brisbane. Good yarns about the good old dayswhen we could do all of this. ???⛳️??β›·????β›Ή?β›Ή?β›Ή?Then when they went home dragged my brother off to the emergency dept at the hospital because he had niggling pains in the chest and would not take any notice of anyone else. He also has cancer and is on dialysis. Thurs out to be cracked rib from coughing so much with chest cold he would not go to the doctor with.

Up. I think the suggestion of 600 for your daughter is spot on. Boy I wish I had been as sensible as her about maintaining weight when I was young. What a gal!

Back after dinner. Just got the call. ??

PH, that poor man, I hope all goes well for him, With what you have been through, any loss is amazing, so don’t be hard on yourself. My back is tender today (cleaning out the calf shed I suspect, it was already clean, but freshened it up and new bedding) but will soldier on, Lexie has won my heart already and the boy’s were so curious and gentle with her, no being silly or barking, I think they realised she was a baby and followed my lead, being calm and quietly spoken. I think it will be Friday night breakfast tonight, bacon eggs and toast, bit of cooked tomato, perfect weather for it and quick to do. Been a long uncomfortable day, but exciting. I’m going out for lunch with the girls tomorrow so hope my tummy behaves ? as it’s our last catch up before Xmas……..golly, another year getting ready to close! Plus my daughter’s birthday, 44, I can’t be old enough to have a daughter that age ?………Have a lovely evening team, enjoy yourself, let your hair down a bit, you deserve it ☺️ …..xxxxxxxx

    Hi All!
CG – Lexie sounds lovely and how cute that your boys followed your lead by being gentle with her. I hope you get lots of pleasure out of caring for her. Your tummy troubles are very puzzling; hope it settles soon. Enjoy lunch and catch up with the girls…life is for living! Xxxx
UP – I think us being the same weight is a one-hit wonder; after cocktails, peach schnapps and nibbles tonight I’m sure I’ll be well up again tomorrow!
SJ – I agree that treats need to be factored in if you want to enjoy them without blowing this wol. I think I am doing a bit better this week since getting back to strict counting on MFP; my idea of the cals I was consuming was way off. I had a couple of semi-fasts too this week to help off-set the blow-out I will have at my reunion. I love when MFP tells me off in red writing that I am not eating enough…..how silly is that?!! You are a gem of a grandma….looking forward to seeing the photos when you’re finished the dressmaking. πŸ™‚
Doggy – well done on losses; no matter how small, they all count πŸ™‚ Hope you get some answers about your knee and that it can be sorted without too much bother – you’ve had enough health issues to deal with lately xxxx
Oh, PH – how tough life is for some people; it’s just not fair. You are such a supportive person and it’s very hard to be the strong one all the time and to look after yourself. Try to get some ‘me’ time and be kind to yourself xxxx
Ali, Noots, TM, GL, Isb – how are you all doing? Check in and give us an update.
Gypsy and GG – hope you are both in good fettle and living life to the full πŸ™‚
I’m off to get my hair done and looking forward to catching up with old school pals. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

    Hi all,
I waved the last of my visitors off and the poor cat came out from under the house three lots in a couple of weeks is too much for her. .i didn’t weigh yesterday as the excesses I have had this week are too many to be listed ! But I am back on the track again will weigh Tuesday instead. I had a wonderful week the garden tour was such a great day with my sister, sisterin law ,daughter in law ,plus her friend. They all came about 350 kms and stayed two nights. There was much fun and laughter and the vino flowed as well but it’s only once a year. I am off to croquet golf this afternoon and it’s a magic day the sun is shining and no wind for a change. Tonight we have a dinner party .Once every 6 weeks we go to another friends place for an international dinner, don’t know what country until we arrive.Three couples do it and it’s fun.we live in a small town and there’s nowhere to go for a meal so we make our own. So far we have had Thai, Italian, German,Mexican so I won’t be thinking a about calories tonight but will try and be mindful of what I am eating and drinking as well . SJ I totally agree with your planned treats we do that with chocolate two squares most nights already broken up dished out and the box back in the cupboard.it seems to work.Doggie I hope you can get your knee sorted and you are still losing great ? CG your calf sounds really cute I just love their faces they always look so mournful. Hope your tummy is sorted soon ?PH at least you are still going down hope your brother is feeling better. Fit enjoy your lunch with the school friends and Gyps I loved your photos how do you put them on here ? .? Well I’m off out in the sun I hope you all have a great weekend sorry if I have missed anyone out TM.

Hi all, nearly didn’t post today because I had gained .6 kg! So disappointed but I am still under 62 kg,just,at 61.9. Entertaining was my undoing especially cheese! Back on the wagon now, having dusted myself off and forgiven myself! I know 5:2 works so I will continue with it. My granddaughter’s 15th birthday party is tomorrow so I will eat carefully. Weighing in with my dietitian on Monday and not looking forward to it. She is not a fan of 5:2 and I wanted to prove to her that it works. Sigh.

Hi all, actually found a good movie to watch on TV after dinner so did not get back. Had a few scotches as well after my big day. So it is fast day for me today to make up for missing one last week. Finally have a full day at home but will be busy catching up on house chores that have been suffering badly while I was unwell with the pain.

SJ I like the idea of planning treats. I tend to do that on the days that I actually actually count the cals. Trouble is that I usually just have to add just one extra treat for the road and tell myself that at least I have allowed for most of them.. I’m sure the dresses will be spectacular and can’t wait to see the photos

CG.lexie sounds lovely, but it sounds like you are overdoing it a bit with the need to have everything perfect for her. Do enjoy her but also remember to look after you.?? have a great lunch with the girls today. You certainly deserve it and hope the tummy behaves.

Fit. Have a great weekend at your reunion. Not that I can imagine you going anywhere that you don’t enjoy yourself to the fullest.

Doggy I too hope you get some answers re your knee. It is always good to find out exactly what is happening than you can at least deal with it and put strategies in place so that life is better for you. ???

TM nice to hear from you. Sounds like you have had a lovely time with your visitors. We used to do the same thing with international dinners many years ago they are great fun, except we were told the theme before we went and would dress the part. Such fun. Mind you dressing up nowadays is more of a chore than fun. Oh to be young again!????. Enjoy your day in the sun..

A great big HI to everyone I have missed lately in my posts. Remember that life is what we make it and make the most of yours. ????????.

Gyps. Hope all is well with you and your leprechaun ???

Forgot to say thanks for the good wishes for my brother. Hopefully he will be home from hospital today after they run a few more tests to be sure, to be sure as the Irish would say.

The weather has been dull and depressing most of the week. Finally got some decent rains last lot was 2 months ago. With it being cold I raided the freezer for my winter meals. I just can’t eat salads on cold days. Even with a couple of meals outside of the house (slipped up eating fried chips) I still managed to lose 300g for the week. One positive is that I lost 3cm off my waist. This is my main concern as I carry it on the stomach area. This area is starting to change shape. I gave away my size 16 jeans during the week. (Another victory.)

Greetings team. Firstly I must tell my good news. In thy past 48 hours we have had 21/2 inches of rain. That’s over 50 mls. I’m with those of you who grew up prior to the metric system. I can do the conversion thing but if some one says they are1 278 cm or such my mindset can’t visualise it. Then this morning I went out for a lovely walk before brekkie. I only did about a block and a half but did not want to overdo it. Now hours later I’m feeling fine. So if the fates are still smiling on me, I’ll increase it a bit more tomorrow.
Yes Up that Siri is a hoot. I’ve a South African accent and he- she just doesn’t get it. Mind you when I go back to South Africa they say I sound like a Aussie. Suejen I personally am not going to fret about Xmas. There is always so much going on. We have our son and daughter with their families coming over to stay. There is going to be lots of food and a fair amount of booze. Mind you, we don’t do the English Xmas meal thing but have lots of seafood and salads so it’s not all bad. CG, enjoy Lexie. Just don’t overdo things. Nice it see you back Tuismum. Noots I think your dietician should have another look at the 5:2. Lots of doctors are recommending it.
OK must be off to help hubby do a depth sounding of our water tank. Nearly full I hope.

    Hi all.

Doggie, great news, when I lived in the New England area of Oz, we relied on rain and tanks etc. We had a creek for the garden at least but had to buy water now and then for the house tank. When the tanks were overflowing I used to jump in the bath!
Tui, I have forgotten if it is you who lives somewhere around there. I used to do a garden tour every year and miss it.

    Well done GL!

Noots, bummer about the dietitian and your gain! But you are right , it does work, and healthily! Keep going and you can win her over. If for some reason I can’t see my usual GP, I always drop in that I have lost a lot on 5/2. I should get a commission! Not that I am at the doc much. Cheese is always my downfall, but what a way to go!

    Fit, we shall see!

PH, what is it about men and doctors?? Hope all improves quickly. If only we had known about 5/2 earlier, when we were young, we would be laughing now.

My spot check turned out to be fine so I can relax again!Migraines now giving me trouble. Where would I be without something to whinge about?

SJ, yes, I agree, you can’t relax until you get well clear of the dreaded 7, then cut yourself some slack!

And CG, I have to know. What is the plan for the beautiful Lexie? I have been wondering, but a bit scared to ask despite fully understanding how the rural life works!

Hot here today, I think the air con will soon be on.

Had to laugh at that comment, GL502 – Scotland is pretty dull and depressing cos it rains so much! When I fist moved up here, in the first six months it rained every day, except for the days we go snow or sleet!

That was over on the West coast – there is a reason Glasgow is so named – ‘dear green place’ in Gaelic!

I am trying to establish deciduous trees in the yard as I need protection from the sun. Even though I was born in Australia my ancestry is the United Kingdom. I was born with the ginger hair and pale skin that burns and freckles. My little grandson that has only half a heart is half Greek but in the hospital an English nurse did a double take has he has curly ginger hair and pale skin. She said he was Scottish not Greek. He may go darker later on but at the moment we are enjoying the irony of it all. With all his operations 5 up to 9 months he is nearly walking at 13 1/2 months. Any time we have with him will be precious he must have another op at 4 years that one is 50/50 survival rate. This makes you sit back and make you think about what is really important.

HI team! I have tried several times to post and the internet drops out. so this will be quick.
FIT- hope you are having a wonderful time at your reunion.
To those of us not well , hope you are relaxing and feeling better.
I am on day 3 of my alternate fast days…. something has got to move this 75kgs , have not weighed BUT can pull on size 14 shorts without undoing the zip or buttons.
Thinking of you all……GO GAL xxxxxxxxxx

Hi team, hay Doggie, isn’t Warner and Burns playing beautifully…..?, wonderful to watch, ahhhhhh, Warner just got caught…..
Up, not to worry, Lexie will (should) live her life out with me unless the drought goes on too long this time and hand feeding gets too expensive ($4 hay goes up to $18 a bail) but rest assured, none of my girls ever go anywhere other than dairies, they become mothers and become milkers, so have good long lives. I often get complaints though, they are too friendly and looking for pats and cuddles ? She had both feeds (milk) off me today, no problems, I stay for half hour or so after for cuddles and “getting to know you” and she loves it. She follows me everywhere and I’m so proud of the boys accepting her and not being silly around her, they all rub noses, then they take off running around the paddock chasing birds, so it’s just her and me in her corral and shed. I just adore her, still very early days so hoping she stays healthy ?. The other calf still not born, and dates unknown as she was with the bull………
Had a great lunch, yummy, too many french bread stick pieces with butter but no guilt attached, it was fresh with a chewie crust mmmmmm and pineapple parma, salad and chips.mmmmm, hay, it’s my day off and I enjoyed it. My tummy feels good today, I took a Lyrica this morning and still wonder if it was withdrawels? My leg was playing up a bit so needed one. I have gotten onto Rose’ liking it better than the darker reds, supposed to be good for you, so I’m giving it a nudge now to see how good I feel ☺️
My Son is coming tomorrow, so roast for dinner, and then will be longing/needin/yearning for Mondays fast ? to get my system back to normal.
Enjoy your evening team, my tank is full too Doggie, love the touch and go of country living, very versitile isn’t it……….xxxxxxxx

GG, I understand your frustration but think you are beautiful as you are,you have lost a lot since starting, so please stop being so hard on your self.We ARE all different, sizes, shapes, heritage, health issues etc……..stay well dear friend and enjoy life ? xxx

CG you and Lexie sound just adorable….would be lovely to see. You are just MADE for country life aren’t you! Mmm luv a crusty french stick. Brings back memories in the french countryside of a lunch we had sitting on a log in the forest with nothing but a french stick a hunk of cheese some jambon (ham) & I think they buttered the bread as we had no cutlery or anything! Oh and of course a demi of wine…that’s a half bottle which is a great size fantastic for like a picnic. Very rustic & memorable.
GG I certainly know the scales are a pain but if you can pull on size 14 shorts without even undoing the buttons/zipper I’d say you’re doing darn fine!! I haven’t even owned shorts for years – my legs or should I say my knees are not my best feature.
GL 3cm off your waist AND giving away size 16 jeans is a memorable week I reckon! Aand you lost 300g even after eating chips…that’s just not fair I say! You sure have a tough situation there with your GS. So yes every bit of time you can spend with him is more than precious.
UT glad you got the all clear. It’s a stressful time for a while isn’t it.
Doggie you got to do a walk & you’re feeling fine afterwards YEAH!! Slow & steady wins the race eh. And 2 1/2 inches is great for your water tanks. That’s a good drop.
Noots you have the same undoing as most of us……CHEESE! And entertaining is pretty hard to get through without a bit of nibbling. Don’t worry about one visit to the dietitian…wait till the next visit & see what you’ll be able to show her! We’ve all proved that it works & you will too…given enough time. Stick with 5:2.
TM you’re doing very well at socialising & flexing your 5:2 around that which is great.

Wasn’t so good at my PC day yesterday (unless that stands for piggy control) but this morning I was down .1 from yesterday. What a laugh…sure didn’t deserve that one! Today was better. Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend & whatever it brings. sj XXXX

Hi all, raining here now, we have had quite a bit if good rain over the past week. Great sunny day today and raining at night. That is the weather I love. Unfortunately did not get the sheets on the line till late and so will be getting an extra rinse.

Noots. Hang in there, you are doing great.?? Everything takes time. You never know what will happen after the next fast day. Everything fluctuates from day to day wear light clothes to the appointment. That usually helps!

GL. Great loss, and giving away size 16 jeans…great stuff. ???keep up the good work..??. Think of you and your grandson. He sounds delightful and he must be a tough little fellow to get through so far. Keep the faith as you never know what new research they will complete before he has to have the next surgery. Enjoy every precious moment. ???

Doggy.. Great news..rain???and walking ???and everything in hand for Christmas. Sounds tops!
No better feeling than full tanks and being able to have a bath guilt free. Know the feeling ???

Up. It was you with the guilt free bath. . ??? was a great feeling. We still have a tank we use for the garden to save water overall. Just don’t seem to be able to get out of the habit. And yes men just don’t seem to be able to communicate with doctors. They did more tests and ruled out clots on the lung so
    I’m breathing easy.

GG that Internet is giving you a lot of grief lately. Hope it improves soon. As CG says, you look great and so don’t sweat, your loss will come just when you don’t expect it. Size 14 and shorts. What a legend! ??

CG. You obviously have a way with animals and Lexie is just so lucky to have you and the boys. Cricket is certainly keeping everyone entertained, big scores and great bowling. OH in his element at the moment. ???

Sujen. Sounds like you are going well nice loss. Lying here listening to the rain on a tin roof is just so relaxing, I just love it.????????. Did not quite stick FD calories today but not far off so pretty pleased with myself. Was lovely just to stay home for the day and just catch up on some chores. Tomorrow off to see “The Dressmaker” movie in the morning with some friends. Looking forward to it so catch up with you all later on tomorrow. Nite night????

A link to an article I thought you’d all enjoy considering CG & little Lexie. CG you’re NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS YOU HEAR!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.countryliving.com/life/news/a36804/meet-goliath-the-baby-cow-that-thinks-hes-a-dog/
    LOL suejen XXXX

    Hi All!
Well that was a hell of a reunion!! Didn’t get to bed until 6am!!!!! Then didn’t leave the next day until 5pm!!!! There’s life in the old dog yet! πŸ˜‰ I had such a good time; lots of fun and laughter, not to mention wine, nibbles, dessert…..yummmmm! I had such trouble remembering names and faces but no-one took offense and I re-connected with some lovely ladies whom I will definitely keep in touch with now. Thanks for all the kind wishes to enjoy myself – I certainly did that and how!!
TM – great you had such a good time with your visitors and your international dinners sound like fantastic fun…enjoy the mystery tour!
Noots – that’s the spirit; forgive, forget and move on….all will be well πŸ™‚
PH – hope you got through all your chores without setting off the pain again. Hope all goes as well as possible for your brother. Weather sounds perfect; rain at night, sun during the day 😎
GL – fantastic losses and well done on losing the 16 jeans!! πŸ™‚ Enjoy the precious times with your GS and I hope that medical advances will improve his chances more and more as time goes on xxxx
Doggy – glad you got the much-needed rain and were able to get out for a good walk with no ill effects πŸ™‚
GG – best of luck with plateau but sounds like something good is happening with the shape if you can do that with your shorts!
CG – you must be having the time of your life with Lexie and she is one very lucky calf to have you as her ‘momma’. Have a wonderful time with your son xxxx
SJ – sometimes this wol takes us by surprise against all the odds…don’t knock it! Loved the link, what a brilliant story and such cute photos!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everybody! πŸ™‚
Up – I’m not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow but will be hoping to focus again on strict FDs again next week.

Good morning team, suejen, I loved the link, quite a few locals would expect nothing less from me. In fact when I first had the concrete put in the calf shed, (not the bedding section) the farmer who did it for me expected me to put carpet in because of the way I am with my animals!? I’m a bit too house proud to do that though, to have them inside, but must admit, have considered it in our bitterly cold winters in the past, but their shed is lovely and warm with plenty of bedding and weather proofed.
GL it doesn’t seem fair when children suffer at any time but medical science is improving all the time and miricles are happening so often so nothing is impossible. We do really need to take stock of our whinging at times I agree, but we are human and unless touched by the misery or battles of others sail along in our own little world.
Well, the Rose’ didn’t quite kick me in the head but I had the best night sleep I have had in months! Maybe I slept through or past any pain it may have given ? but I feel very rested. I doubt it will become a habit I still prefer my whiskey/bourbon with zero, that I can handle ?
Planning day team for our fast, I’ve decided on stirfry for my son and will send him home with some to take to work, also adding rice noodles, long time since I’ve had them but do enjoy them veg with chicken chunks and prawns, so he will love it and not overly heavy with cals so will keep just enough for my dinner tomorrow night. I still cant make stirfry for one! I end up with a wok full so know there will be heaps. I just keep adding veggies.
Glorious morning here, clear blue skies, having my first milky coffee, then will make up Lexie’s warm milk and feed her with some added cuddles ☺️ I’m trying, to make her morning feed around 10:00 so my aerobics will be done still and I’ll be home in time without interuption to her routine. When Glenn comes, I’ll get him to take a pic of me with her and post for you. ….I too might have to do that through our Gypsy. Speaking of which, where are you Gyps??? Living the high life??Visitors ?? Hope all is well ?
Okay, shower time, feed Lexie, housework then cricket….good day ahead for me. Enjoy your Sunday team, don’t sweat the small stuff, life is for living, not being self critical so get out and live ? xxxxxxxxxx

Hi Fit, you must have had a ball, I’m so glad for you….and I bet you felt vey comfortable in what you chose to wear ?…….you night owl you, talk about a taste of youth, be interesting to see how long it takes to recover ? it must be close to your bedtime now over there, so sweet dreams xxxxxxx
