  • Hi Ruth, you come to the right place with like minded people. We have a lot of laughs but stick to our focus of 5:2 if you have any questions as you go along, please ask an our Fit is from Ireland, actually lives there so that’s something in common to start with ? so again welcome CG xx

Hello everyone, weigh in thismorning and as I thought still 87.1, but im happy I didn’t go up as had a busy week an bugger me im in for another this week. ha ha Think its just going to be busy right through to xmas. Having a fast day today as my only day home this week & will have another on Wed as only take my aerobics class & I’ve managed to not have the morning tea even refraining from the birthday cakes. Have to make another bday cake today for one of my ladies bdays this Wed, but will poach an egg shortly for lunch just incase im tempted to lick the bowl. ha ha Well I eventually got my seniors Melbourne Cup Luncheon organised with our local hotel, so I hope it goes well and they enjoy it, will soon find out, but with all the tommy rot it’s taken the enjoyment out of it for me. Anyway hope my seniors enjoy it. Well I’d better poach that egg, ive only had two cup coffee thismorn so am starting to feel peckish. All the best to all who are having their fast today as well, & everyone else have a lovely day. Not 2 fast days in a row this week YAY!!!!! Cheers Ali

Thanks CG and GG. You are right….rest is best. Just frustrating when I was going so well.
Suejen. Sending you and OH love and hugs???. Counselling is great and doing it together is even better. Understand you not feeling up to posting.

Just got up for a while and blew my FD. Oh well will have to do We’d and Friday this week.

Welcome Ruth. This is the forum to join, very supportive as you can see..good luck

    Just trying out my ph

Ah, crap! I just wrote a whole post to individuals and lost the lot! Soooo sorry people, I can’t do it all again at this point, Have been upending the house to finish my belated spring cleaning, as FD exercise, and now it’ll be midnight before I put it back together (curtains down, sheets off beds, etc….) Puff puff, God help those scales if they don’t moooove.

Ruth, I can tell you’re a larrikin, I did advise you to stick with us for empathy on ya drinking problem, dearie. But do stop drinking alcohol in the sun, especially if you’re Irish, you’ll pickle! Moon sippin is my poison…. sigh… right about now…but I can have it tomorrow.

GG, yes, fine to send fotos, looking forward to seeing your Melbourne cup hat! Great you are going to try our the reunion venue. luck on the cup.

Thanks all for the welcome back. SJ sorry you’re still having family issues, suggest you and OH put your marriage first. you are doing all the right things and you can only lead kids by example. Be strong and be kind to each other.

CG, am hoping my gobble week works by kick starting my losing streak, too, if ya know what I mean. Lead on! Nice to see all the newbys still with us and doing so well. Sorry all, gotta go make the bed so I can collapse! xxxGyps

Well, $@&***%%%Β£@$%%^&*$Β£@*&^%$!!!!!!! πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ Snap, Gypsy – just spent the best part of an hour writing a long post of individual replies to everyone; pressed submit and it all disappeared as the bloody thing decided to pick that exact moment to log me out and ask me to log in again. I’m fuming!!!!
So hi to all; enjoy your week and happy fasting. Welcome to Jruth – I’m from Co.Meath and we have lots in common – menopause, dog called Mollie, a weakness for alcohol in the sun πŸ˜‰ etc. I have to go now and work off my temper before I scupper my fast day!!

Yeah, Fit, I hear ya! @#!!!%&)@#(!!!!!??WTF! Heh, heh, but now I am grinning as I imagine your Irish paddystompoff! How compatible, You drink in the sun and I’ll take the moon and we’ll be drinking together, tomorra1 on opposite sides of the world, Good nite, my friend, hope you got a cossie nailed for the class reunion….. Oooo! is that more swear words I hear? …. cackle….xx gyps

Oh, you do like to stir the pot, don’t ya Gyps?!! My sister who was mother of the groom recently is giving me the dress she bought for the day after the wedding. She decided not to wear it in the end as the next day turned out to be much less formal; so I’ll actually get to wear it before her – how’s that for sisterly love? πŸ™‚ I took a leaf out of your book and stripped my bed and it’s all drying on the line now. Then I waxed all the old furniture that I painted a few weeks ago and polished it until the temper wore off πŸ˜‰ Maybe even worked off a few cals too so it’s win/win!! Ha, ha!! Sleep well zzzzzzz

Well, not a very successful fast. πŸ™ Came in at 678 cals on MFP but with so many variations of calorie amounts for some foods that it could be more like 800. I doubt it’s any lower. Oh well, it can be a semi-fast and I’ll see what the scales says in the morning and how much damage limitation I have to do!!

Good morning team, what a bummer losing your posts. You can contact the site and ask them WHY, as in the past, they often “fiddle” with the mechanics of the computer end and we all have problems. The more who complain or have the same problem, the more likely they are to fix it. Something like this happened some time back.
Beautiful Cup morning here, very chilly but pretty, blue skies and bright sun light ? so should be lots of BBQ’s happening plus a big crowd at the cup.
Fit I’m sure your fast will still be working for you, looking as fabulous as you do, I would think even 6:1 would be fine for you now. I’m unsure how my fast went, I was okay with cals when I went to bed, but my tummy was playing up again and I needed fooood! So got up and fossicked in the fridge, only thing appealing was Terry’s Orange chocolate ? so “forced” three wedges in to my mouth, oh yummm! I had to take half a sleeping tablet as I was restless from the minute I got into bed, so between both, eventually slept well. I had that sickly empty gurgling feeling. I’m thinking it’s time to use psyllium husks lightly on a daily basis, as of late never feel completely empty, so maybe over did that with the laxative, which I think finished with a final flush this morning. Oh what a breakie conversation, but know a few of you are having the same problem. This IS quite a new concept to me as I’ve never had problems, as food, veg and fruit seem to supply enough roughage, maybe another problem that comes with age ? What next???
It’s feast day team, perfect for the celebrations ahead, so enjoy guilt free, 5:2 is part of our lives, not all of it, so don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy all that is on offer ? remember your PC, but if you do over indulge a tad, the next fast will have you back to normal. I hope you back a winner, I’m sure you all will look stunning if going to a formal’ish type do, and enjoy your day, be positive as the new you, you are now slimmer and healthier than this time last year ? xxxxxxxx

Morning CG! Hope you feeling better now. How you could have a choc orange in the fridge and only take three segments???? OMG – that would never happen in my house…it wouldn’t even make it as far as the fridge!!!!! I will never be able to do 6:1 because I overindulge all the other days of the week – no self-control!!

It was a fluke Fit, I didn’t realise it was a full “Orange” and it somehow got pushed to the back behind condiments etc. with something sitting on top of it. Now I have found it, and I only did the fridge out last week, it won’t last long! That IS something I will over indulge in, medicinal purposes of course, dark chocolate does act as a laxative of sorts, so “must” do it for my health…right???☺️ xxxxxx

Well, had the wedding on Saturday, ate nothing, shared one portion of lamb korma rice and chicken pakora (Korma far too sweet) went to party, ate nothing, yesterday had chicken chilli wraps – decided to yoke into the box of ‘celebrations’ chocs we had bought for the kids knocking the doors on Halloween, but realised they hadn’t been opened. I could see myself eating the chocs all week, sell by date February 2016 – so I asked OH to hide them away for Christmas. Fast day today, ate chicken and tomato pasta and managed to keep the portion under 450 cals – though quite a small portion!

Now where is the the polishing cloth for my halo???

And wondering just where OH has hidden the bloody chocolates!!!!!!!!

Hi all, well cup day is here and am looking forward to today even though pain not under control. I Have makings for watermelon, champagne punch in the fridge and ..WAtermelon, lime, vodka punch also. ??????Planning on making both up for the table to have along with the watermelon infused with vodka slices. ??That should take care of the pain for today. Did not manage to make any food to take but the others will have plenty. Had to get my priorities right.

CG. I am also having problems with bowel since starting diet which I never had before. I used to eat a lot of fruit and have cut down to just 2 pieces a day so thinking that is the issue. Will maybe have to start taking Metamucil regularly I am thinking..or go back to having more fruit. Love the thought “you are now slimmer and healthier than you were this time last year” or something like that. I had to spend time yesterday taking in what I am going to wear today so you are spot on..

Fit. What a great family you have..what a sister! And your furnature must be looking a treat.

Gyps..how did you have the energy for such a big clean after being away for a while. You are a legend.

We’ll have a great day everyone and remember to eat unresponsibly!!??????

Milena. You are truely a legend!!????????wow..that is amazing. You will have to beat your husband into submission until he tells you where he hid the chocolates. Or talk him into handing a few out each day..????

Now listen here, Milena – not eating at a wedding or at a party and then getting OH to hide chocolates and it wasn’t even a fast day – that’s just not human!!! You must have wings as well as a halo!!! I feel like a total wuss!!
PH – you sure do have your priorities right – good on ya!! Must say I love a cocktail or two! πŸ˜‰ I hope your pain eases so that you can make the most of your day and have a fabulous day xx

Hi all. Welcome Ruth. We don’t do hate mail here so you are quite safe with us. I think that many of us can relate to enjoying alcohol just a bit too much. My downfall is wine. I do without it quite happily on my FD ( fast days ) but have a couple of glasses on the other days. In my humble opinion, if one makes a dieting regime too restrictive it’s not going to go the distance as we will become resentful. It’ just human nature. What I do is to dilute my glass of Sav Blanc with water, say 1-3. I’ve become used to it quite easily and I’m not having so much alcohol. Beer might be a bit trickier.
Maratus you are doing it tough with exams to contend with. May I suggest that when you get a chance to look up Insulin on your search engine. It may well be the reason that you have the urge to look for snacks etc. after supper.
CG thanks for the tip re disabling the auto correct. I’m going to do that after this post. My sympathies to those of you who have physical or emotional pain. Life can be full of hard knocks.
GG good to see you back and I’m glad you enjoyed your reunion.
Enjoy the race that stops a nation those who enjoy it. I love horses but will not be watching. I once watched a horse fall and break its leg during the Melbourne Cup. It had to be shot. I was terribly upset even though I was watching it on TV. I’m not into gambling either. I not wowser just choose to spend my money elsewhere.
The horses and the roses always look stunning at Flemington on Melbourne cup Day.

Fit, I totally agree, Milena is not human, I think she is practicing to become a saint!
It’s sad to see what the horses are put through Doggie, I am totally against hurdles because of that, sure they do it for fun and pleasure in their own paddock, but that’s different. Oh what glorious animals, I do love watching them parade before the race, they look so proud and know they are on show, , but they are born to run, it’s their nature. But their legs are so fine, I’m surprised there are not more breakages, but again, vet checked so often, it’s just fate I guess. Not to put a dampener on the day, it is a lot of fun, a lot of characters out in public, as are the idiots!
Have a great day PH, your cocktail (or punch actually) sound yum, enjoy…xxxxxx

Morning girls, just getting a quick post in before ploughing into the debri again. Computer is then off limits til dark!

PH, sorry you’re crook, hope you get some joy from the champagne and a win on the cup. I may be a loooong story, but no legend when it comes to housework! I just hate it, and let it go to the point where I cant put it off any longer. Coming home with a mound of rubble to sort just highlighted the half done yearly debridement of clutter, and dust already turning to mould as the tropical humidity hits my steamy scrub environs.

I would never have gotten up if I’d sat down and let the eyes gloss over the familiar. It’s amazing what you notice when you’ve been absent! Plus I needed to capitalize on continuing movement from the riding epic (Hard work steering a sidecar around winding ranges, is not like the glide of a bike at all). My arms are sagless and toned, it’s the legs that are returning to flab logs! gotta keep off the derrier!

Plus I have a visitor coming on the 1st of December for a week, our Irish mate whom we stayed with in Tasmania. He’s looking forward to an adventure time exploring Hinchinbrook channel and the coastal hinterlands. Not to mention he’s a marathon walker and a gourmet cook! We have a bit of a competition re exotic fare of our regions. He really did us proud on Tassie delicacies. Brave type, skinny as, goes mountain climbing in Spain and trots all over the world.

His lovely wife can’t handle the heat up here in Summer so this is a boy’s trip, my brothers will take him boating and into the wilds. I just get to tag along as the cook (and possibly the nurse for their hangovers) He’s a wine buff, so I’m in training….on feast days of course (eyes rolling in prayer..). I’m afraid this lad brings out the worst in me. (and there’ll be no housework done wot isn’t already!). I’m planning to ace him with Northern seafoods and bush tucker (Candied witchetty grub tastes just like custard, ya know) so I gotta clear the decks and get fit! This is a REAL leprechaun, I’m talking about. OH’s best mate and sidekick. The pair of then together is better than Abbott and Costello. So, goody, Christmas is coming early at my place!

And it’s timely. Ciaran is coming expressly to support My leprechaun as he await the result of his next progress MRI, due on the 13th. He seems to be okay to my eye, but it’s always nerve wracking for the patient under cancer watch. We will take it one day at a time and enjoy what we can.

Fit, Glad you got the dress sorted. Let us wax on, wax off as we yodel to our respective Sun and Moon!

CG, I think you’ve earned a chocolate, old mate.

    Milena, STOP LOOKING FOR YOURS!!!!

Suejen, hope your day is panning out a little better, How’s the reunion song going? Look to your path ahead and make it a road worth travelling. Forget what tradition or society dictates as the parental role. You knew when to wean and you know when to re-enforce a child’s coping skills with tough love. Do what your instincts KNOW needs doing. Grand children grow up. be what you are to them (they are great judges ) and unless they are at risk, let go. what’s yours will come back.
The grandson you see in the photo with me, was lost to the drug scene for many years. He wouldn’t talk to me because I wasn’t his sort of cool at that point. (Had his licence revoked before he killed himself or others) Now has kids and gets it. He’s clean. Just has to go through the process of getting licenced from scratch and been balking at the red tape, and studying ‘rules’ even!…. (so he’s my pupil, but has earned my time and attention – no free rides in this family!) and …heh, heh, he has now got a healthy respect for endurance – “How the hell do you keep going, Nan, my bum is sore and I got arthritis in my fingers.” So,I sez, “Suck it up, Princess, this is the fun stuff – settle in. Life is a marathon, not a sprint!” (and yes, I stole that gem from you mob, ta!)

….sigh… I am putting off the hard stuff… gotta get up and moooove that bloody mildew! … oh, for God’s sake, now it’s lunch time! “Zelda! Get orfff yore ass!”
xxx gyps PS, so still fasting, hence wafties. Might as well just do a BtoB. Seeyas!

Morning All. How is everyone on this fine day here – looking like a lovely day. I’m not into horse racing (or betting) so just another day for me really. But to those of you who enjoy it have a great day and PH hope those cocktails are enjoyed by all! They sound yumm and hope your pain is better or managed by meds so you can enjoy the day too.
Feeling a bit more positive this morning. Have the name of a really good counsellor (he visits our town too even better) & will book in ASAP.
Milena your halo has just about taken off and flying of its own accord I reckon! No way could I attend an event and eat NOTHING…that’s just not human!
Thanks ladies also for passing on your hugs etc & the emails I received too. What a bunch of ladies!! So appreciated them all.
Off to our nearest big town to buy some material to make dresses for my 3 GD’s in the USA for Christmas. Have some lovely bright decorative ribbon to sew onto them. My DIL loves bright stuff & puts ALL sorts of colours on her girls that I just don’t believe sometimes! And now that Gracie 3yo wants to choose what she wears we end up with some wacky combinations!! Also to a nursery & a picture framers as OH forgot to sign the latest paintings that we took up there a week or 2 back… duh!

Have a lovely day all celebrating or not…whichever way have a glass or 2 of what you enjoy! I will be…reminds me have to put a sav in the fridge!! suejen XXXX

Buggar!!!! with a capital SH.. I too just lost my post, I will contact them and see what the hell is happening.
Suejen, You sound so much more positive today, down times hit with a thud, like a ton of bricks but when the dust clears, the path ahead is visible, and although it my offer a challenge it’s doable. My money is on you and OH.
Gypsy I thought you only Spring cleaned just before you took off. Golly you are a goer girl! I’m glad your leprechaun has a mate to share the “man” chats with, they speak differently to us, and having a shoulder of his best mate is just what the doctor (“matron”) ordered.
I just finished cleaning out my calf shed and putting in new bedding, looks like I’m getting a couple of baby calves. Last of two heifers to calf and not wanted so they were going to be tapped so WHAT COULD I DO? Sucker for sad cases, especially animals. Surgeon said none for 12 months in case I get bumped, but, I’ll be careful ? My sheep although pretty, cute, they don’t like to be touched. I need pets I can put my arms around, so these two, yet to be born, will be very loved and spoilt.Beats being tapped on the head aye? Xxx Now I’ll see if this posts!!!

What a great race. The first female jockey ??to win the race on a horse that was 100 to 1. What a great day. Had a lovely time today and the watermelon champagne punch/cocktail ????went down a treat and I won the sweep. Lovely finger food and great company. Had a couple of winners before the main race ,one of which was called “don’t tell momma” , remember saying that to my brother many times. So exciting to see an Australian trained horse win once again. Can’t believe I missed backing it..girl jockey and 100 to I. Off to have a well earned rest..ain’t life grand..

Ph what great news, I often think being in good company does take our minds off ourselves. It’s another reason I drag myself out of bed to do water aerobics, it’s a win win, exercise and company. Yes lovely girl who won too, typical female though, not short of a few words ?
I keep thinking it’s Monday and fasting tomorrow, but it ain’t!!! ? xxxxx

Hi all, my fd is nearly over. Early start as OH and I had to be at the hospital by 8 am for his MRI. No time for anything but a cup of tea for breakfast. Leftover chicken curry with quinoa for lunch, small bowl only. The hardboiled egg was a lifesaver around 4 pm. Didn’t feel too hungry after that. Toast and a cuppa. Early bed, hope I sleep better than last night as it was so humid here and 25 c in our bedroom. Some rain today and top of 21 c, much more to my liking. Good to see a female jockey win the Melbourne Cup.

Evening Team…..What a day of posting you have had.
MILENA- You have INCREDIBLE WILLPOWER… how can you go to a Wedding and not eat! You must be so strong….agree with the team …its not human.
PH- so glad your day improved,i hope your discomforting pain soon goes. well done on winning some sweeps.
CG- take it easy with your animals… I’m sure you have their sheds very comfortable …by careful lifting the hay xxxxx.
SJ- So glad to know today was slightly better for you. May each day be better .
GYPS- You are a laugh. Your GS is very lucky to have come out of his past situation with a positive attitude to life and how lucky is he to have you there guiding and advising him in the right direction.
I have sent you pics of my Melbourne cup lunch. the two I sent were the best of a bad lot of pics.

My Cup lunch went well …not as many people attended this year so the food was not as gourmet as last year.D id not go overboard with the “FIZZY POP” or desert.Did not win in any sweeps BUT did come 2nd in the BEST DRESSED comp. My girlfriend won 1st prize…..Good fun day all the same.Good on the female jockey so well done.
That’s it from me Your……GO GAL XXXXX

    Hi All!
Well, as I thought, my FD was a non-event as regards weight loss but I suppose I got some health benefits all the same. Have to plan better; I leave the menu up to my OH because he does all the cooking and that just doesn’t work all the time.
GG – delighted to hear you had such a good time and that you got a prize for best dressed! I reckon you are one very stylish lady πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see pics! πŸ™‚ In the post I lost, I wrote that you all must think I’m very vain as I’m always going on about what I want to wear to special events, but it’s just that I love clothes and dressing up. Your suggestion about black and white was much appreciated…always a classic combo! Hoping the dress my sister has offered me will fit me as well as it does her, we’re quite alike in build except she has boobs!!
Doggy – I live quite near to a famous race course where the biggest hurdle race, the Grand National, takes place each year. It’s a fantastic spectacle but often marred by horses being injured and put down. There is a long tradition of fox and stag hunting as well in our locality which I hate – although nowadays they usually don’t kill their quarry – just terrify it by chasing it for hours πŸ™
CG – so glad to hear you are rescuing those calves but they do grow up quite quickly, so be careful and mind your back πŸ™‚
Gypsy – you are more than a legend to us!! Hope you have a wonderful time with your friend and that your leprechaun enjoys the company of a kindred spirit. Best of luck to ye both with the MRI etc Xxxxx
SJ – so good to hear you are beginning to feel a bit brighter and best of luck with the counsellor. How talented you are be able to make clothes for the grandies…I bet they will be thrilled and look gorgeous!
PH – great to hear that the cocktails worked out so well and a brilliant win for a female jockey! Hope the aches and pains are easing.
Noots – good planning on the food front – you are doing so well with this wol. Wishing you and OH all the best for MRI too xxx
I’m going to try for good PC day today and maybe fast again on Wed because I will be having lunch out on Thursday and the Friday is the school reunion πŸ™‚ Enjoy you day and live life to the full!

    Hi GG

It was a buffet, after 5 fast days in a row to get into my Halloween outfit, which I last wore on my honeymoon in 1994, absolutely no temptation to eat stuff that had been hanging around for hours. There were boxes of chocolate on the table, and a sweetie table for the kids. That was harder.

The second party in Tuscany evening was much more difficult, the neighbour’s spread was lovely, easy to keep out of the food room, but harder to refuse food brought round. Didn’t think anyone had noticed my weight loss, but even got compliments from the kids in the street, once they realised it was me.

Teetotal now for 6 weeks, now that’s real willpower, but the incentive is New Year’s Eve, last year I bought a size 22 top, and was the heaviest person at the party – men included. Started my journey at the end of January, hoping to buy a size 14 for this new year. Journey won’t be over, but I’ll be in the second half. Thanks to 5:2 and the brilliant support of this forum.

    It takes a village …..

GG, have not received any email from you??? Did it go through your end? Will keep checking.

CG. yes, did the major spring clean (in the Spring!) like walls, floors and windows, but you have to live in the tropics to know how fast the dust turns to mildew. And my hoarding nature really turns to pathological clutter in a one bedroom shack. I have to take stock and thin out, but tend not to until space gets desperate! ( I had a four bedroom house when I downsized, many treasures remain packed in a tin shed I really should be using for more practical things!)

Plus, every cupboard is crammed with stuff I now forget I have. I just un-earthed my granny’s crystal! But none of the girls want it. No one uses Duchess sets these days. What would you do with it? I can’t bear to just give it to the Salvos… And all those nooks and crannies I glossed over are growing fungi! One has to dismantle wall fans and employ Snow white to cupboard surfaces. It’s a constant battle to even keep the scrub from sending feral climbing vines up my walls to meddle with the air conditioners (as a water source). I am battling nature to dwell in a scrub clearing on a major river course. It’s a pioneer’s hut, built before the town that surrounds it. I would be wise to book into an old folk’s home and swap my motor bike for an old person’s electric go-cart. …. bah! lettuce not talk such rot! I am presently planning to drop the past on my kids in named boxes. Heh, heh, they’ll treasure their white elephants when I’m ded! So what else are grannies for?

Praise be I have hit the scales at 85.4. ( who ya gunna call? Plateau busterrrrrrs!) Whatever excuse I can make for exerting myself is therapeutic. Pity the children, not me!

Ah, CG, baby calves are beautiful, happy mothering. Time for a wee drop O’ home brew bourbon. am trialling it on the rocks…… nite you mob xx gyps

So here she is! and it’s your birthday, GG? Yoy look wonderful! Lookit that hat! Perfect! So hope you had a good day! xxx gyps
     photo image001.jpg

    WINNER! WINNER!

     photo image002.jpg

Hi all. I lost posts too, so frustrating. No idea what I wrote now as it was a while ago. Not going to write a long one just in case but have been reading all. Lovely, GG.
    Milena you are amazing.
    Cheers!

My wardrobe is a worry. I gave away some size 16 jeans yesterday to a daughter some I had only worn once or twice. I am down to 2 dresses and one pair of jeans that fit nicely a couple of others that look baggy. I picked up some cheap $10 jeans in size 12 and size 10 I am about 2.5 cm away from doing up the smaller jeans. I may seem skinny but all my weight is around the stomach so still away to go but I can feel the end is achievable. My next target is to get under 63 kg (10 stone) then I will less than 10 kg away from my goal weight. I am eating the way I want to continue after I reach my goal. This has been the only system that has allowed me to lose the weight 14 kg since the 1st of August.

The yard is now fire ready. I am trying to bulk out the garden beds so that I can have flowers in the house. I am starting to get little micro climates under the maples and ornamental pears so I can get outside on the hotter days. I was going to plant out some ground covers yesterday but my daughter and family came round. I sent them home with loose leaf lettuces and a big bowl of strawberries.

Wow! GG – an absolute stunner!! Loving the fascinator and the black and white dress is so classy and chic – you look fabulous! And, your birthday too? Many happy returns! πŸ™‚ Hope you had a wonderful day xxxx
Up – it’s so annoying to lose a long post; grrrr! I think CG was going to get on to the support team and see what they had to say about it.
Milena – what a fantastic year you have put in doing 5:2; it will be such a great feeling to be buying size 14 this time around. What’s your goal?
Gyps – hope the spring cleaning went well; we are all such hoarders and especially, if you’re sentimental, it can be hard to give or throw things away. I did alot of yard work today, clearing away the rubble etc from our recent building work. I bet I’ll have plenty aches and pains tomorrow but it kept me out of the kitchen and maybe worked off a few calories – here’s hoping!

GL – you are doing brilliantly; charity shops can have lovely clothes which would get you by until your weight/size has stablised and wouldn’t cost you a fortune. Your garden sounds fabulous; great job!

Morning team, still not well in the tummy so no pool for me today. Doctor tomorrow to have a cancer cut off my arm, and another skin check, so will ask him about these pains.
I did write to the site and they aren’t sure why it’s happening, they did suggest we log off then on to refresh but other than that, they will be looking into it. They think their daylight saving may have something to do with it, but don’t understand that at all?

GG you look fabulous and love the new hair colour, it really suits you. I didn’t think it was your birthday, I do have it written down “somewhere” but didn’t think it was now…..so is that a greeting to someone named Jan?
I think I might fast today, to ease my gut, although my Monday fast didn’t help it. Probably a tummy virus, as with everything, but the lack of sleep is wearing now.
Gypsy totally understand the housework problem, when we had our van on site, I used mould “catchers” it was surprising how much condensation would be in these little buckets each time we arrived, quite a few inches of water, but it stopped a lot of mould. I can’t remember what they were called but are in all supermarkets.
I’m having my first coffee for the day, staying off dairy at the moment, so will soldier on till I find out what the problem is.
    Have a lovely day team…xxxxx

Gypsy, the product I’m thinking about is called DAMPRID it’s little crystals you put in containers, little buckets, empty margarine containers, and place them out of the way. They somehow stop mould forming by keeping the air dry…..worth a try ,I was surprised how well it worked….supermarket and hardware stores…….xxxxx

    Found your B’day GG….April 19 ?……..golly I was worried I’d missed it ? xxxxxx

So 63kgs is still 10 stone? No wonder I still need to lose weight!

Hi Team GG luv your dress aaaand that fascinator looks fantastic. No wonder you suggested black & white to Fit! Very brave too to have so much arm/shoulders showing – mine need covering up.
Gyps luv the plateau busters….good on you!
GL wow 14 kgs since August….my goodness! And into size 12 & nearly size 10 jeans. Can only dream of that one. Good on you!! All you work in the garden must certainly be helping you too – sounds lovely.
CG no good that that tummy problem is still with you. Hope it settles or you get it sorted with your dr. Don’t fast today CG if it’s too hard on you – be kind too yourself & just give it time.
UT funny I was thinking after your comment that I used to be 8 1/2 stone. But I obviously wasn’t as that equals 54 kilos and I was NEVER that. Usually around 62 & got to 59 for my wedding & that’s the lowest ever. Our memories can be so unreliable at times….like everything else about us at this age…our knees, our eyesight, our bosoms heading south etc etc!

Well just cooked up a bunch of yummy granola for my brekkies. Now about to do a bit of tidying up & then head to my sewing – well the spare room might need a darn good clean-up before I even manage to start. It’s the junk room generally in between sewing bouts & it’s been a while!!!
Have a healthy nutritious enjoyable feed day all. suejen XXXX

I’m a day late but have to add my voice to applaud the success of our first female jockey to win The Melbourne Cup. She is is articulate and an advocate of more women being allowed to do what they want to do. I mean we aren’t still living in the dark ages are we?
Fitto I’ve seen The Grand National on TV. I think jump races should be banned but I guess that’s not going to happen. Yes well what can one say about the disgusting practise of Fox Hunting. Some time ago we were staying on a farm in Scotland where they ran a B & B. The farmers wife called me over to peer out the window and look in a shed. There a fox was hiding behind some bales. She said that there were regular Fox Hunts in the area but somehow the foxes had learnt that they were safe if they could make it to their farm.
CG sorry about your tummy troubles. I hope you have manged to get it sorted out. Can I suggest you download an app called Sleep well. I’ve got it on my iPad. It’s meditation/ hypnosis. I listen to it almost every day and have found that I’m sleeping better at night. It’s worth trying. I love the sound of your animals.
GG you look great. That outfit is lovely.
FD again tomorrow. Must go and get my ducks in a row for that.

Hi everyone. Have been to see the doctor today and he has put me on “prednisolone ” apparently a steroid of some kind and he has warned that I am likely to put on some weight. Just what I need. Will have to make a concerted effort to get to the pool as many days as I can to offset that. ??????
Can’t get into the arthritis specialist till January. Thinking I’m going to have to increase my pain medication till then just to get around. So I guess I’ll just have to do it. Anyway enough of my moaning. It is time to get on with life. Broke my fast Day today (had to have a good coffee and cake after the doctors visit) β˜•οΈ?so will have to do one on Friday..lucky I did one on Monday. ??

GG. Looking great in the black and white. Love the hat..we wore hats, fascinator a yesterday as well and I got mine from the op shop for 2.50 . Stunning it was. ..posting now before I lose it..

Doggy. I will have to download the SleepWell App for the meditation side of it. Find that meditation helps the pain but bored with the one I am using.
After reading post regarding stone to Kgs I will have to rethink my goal weight. Was thinking that I could get down to 11 stone. (Wedding weight ..great figure) But that is 69 Kgs. That will ever happen in a million years. So my goal of 87 Kgs is still 13 stone. Will be stoked to get to that.. And then you never know with this wol I may be able to go lower. ??? Talk about delusional..

I heard an interesting talk on the ABC today. Medics and other scientists in the USA have stated that the expected lifespan for the latest generation in the states is decreasing not increasing as has been the trend in the past 50 years or more. This is due soley to obesity. Onset of type 2 diabetes at a much earlier age than in the past. Plus other risk factors linked to obesity. Scary isn’t it. All the more reason for us to carry on carrying on and spread the word where appropriate. I can look at someone’s grocery trolley and just know what body shape they are going to be. Food for thought. Skuse the pun!

    Back again..

Gyps. Hope your leprechaun get a good result. So good to have great mates to share times like this.

CG. Hope you work out your tummy troubles. And Dr can help today. . I know what you mean about going to the pool. It makes you feel good that you have out in the effort and the social side of it is good for us. I am going to try to get up earlier and see if I can get to a earlier class on the days appointments clash with the later ones. Will start next week and. See how I go as hydeo pool makes me feel so good. And it should have the added benefit of counteracting the medication. Try not to overdo the farm stuff though. Even though small calves are just the cutest things.

Sujen. Another thing we have in common. I love sewing and can’t wait till my new granddaughter is old enough to make pretty dresses for. Have a great time being creative and take some photos so you can show me at the reunion. You and OH will do well with counselling because you obviously care so much about each at you are willing to give it a go. if you are there for each other then you can manage anything the family can put you through..and keep the hope alive that it will not be forever. ??????
Just scrolled up again and realised it was you talking about stone v Kgs..not Doggy..sorry

Fit. Hope you are not too sore after your yard work.. And I agree with you. Op shops have a great range of clothes to get you through whilst losing weight. I buy the. And then give them back when I lose more. And of course I am always giving them things that don’t fit anymore. was reading an article today about a girl who just could not find the wedding dress she had in her mind and then while in the salvos store spotted exactly the one she had been dreaming about. So for 150.00 had the most beautiful wedding dress I’ve seen for a while. Has now sent it back to the same Op shop so someone else can find it.

Up. Good lock with your next post

GL. Great achievement ..OP shopping is fun!

That’s all folks. Have a great rest of the day and talk to you soon.??????

Hi team, PH, prednisolone is cortisone, and even if you gain a bit of weight, should work well for you, I had one of my boys on it for years and it was a success. I hope you have luck taking it.
I had a light globe moment earlier, wondering if I’m having withdrawal symptoms from the Lyrica I was taking, I did wean myself, mainly because I was forgetting to take them before going to the pool, and some days realised I didn’t need them, so haven’t had any since last week. I checked the site and have some of the symptoms but mainly the tummy cramps. I thought it was constipation but could be a bit of both.
The correct isn’t happening, so this site is having problems somewhere. Plus my curser is missing?
I have semi fasted, don’t intend to with dinner, it hurts to eat, but hurts with an empty tummy too so catch 22 at the moment. Anyway, seeing my Dr in the morning.
Have a happy evening team, prepare for tomorrow’s fast and you’re half way there. Doggie, I can’t enter into the cruelty of animals conversation, it brings me to tears.
Talk to you all soon, ? xxxxxxxxx

Thank you GYPSY for posting the pic. Team thank you too! for your Lovely.
compliments on my outfit. 5:2 has done such wonderful justice to my shoulders and arms… needed to show them off. Still have the middle bit to work on. I am 75kgs. MOVE YOU DARN PLATEAU! and COM’ON AUSSIE DETERMINATION ….WORK FOR ME!!!!
Also thanks for the B’day wishes …It was’nt mine… the sign was for my very best friend of 30yrs who was celebrating her special day in Melbourne. Jan’s OH pressie was 2 nights at the cup in one of the marques for those that can go on a wait list to a venue. She had not seen me for 3yrs and was very surprised at “the new .me”
So pleased you all enjoyed yesterday …it was a brilliant ride for the female jockey. Her love and support to her brother was very emotional.
CG -hope you are feeling better.
PH- be careful of your fluid and salt intake whilst on the PRED it does put weight on ,so watch your caloric intake and all will be A OK.
Cannot wait for FD tomorrow.I am going to try AFD to see if it will move the kgs
I hope I can be diligent at the concept of it.
Enjoy your night …its cold windy and rainy here on the coast…..love GO GALxxx

Yes, prednisolone will put on the weight but as CG said, it is good stuff. Good luck with the extra challenge. I hope you don’t need it for long, PH.

Mmmm, Hi gang, I made it to the computer after a very long day on domestic maintenance. Just too tired to do more tan say good nite. loving the well earned bourbon. play nice, I’ll be back to check! xxxgyps

    Hey guys!

This is my first week on the 5:2 diet. I am going to be a bridesmaid next year in March. I am aiming to lose 20kg (current 120kg) by that stage. From your experience do you think that is possible on the 5:2? I’m hoping you all say yes πŸ™‚

    Cheers

Hi Isb, love the name but we will shorten it. To answer your question, nothing is impossible. We have all had terrific results with 5:2 but everyone is different and it depends on how strict you are. Work out your TDEE at the top of the page in the How section, and if you stick with that and 500 on fasting days, you will certainly lose a lot of weight ? and feel a lot healthier.. Keep us informed at your progress and ask all the questions you want. Welcome to the AUSSIE DETERMINATION team ?….CG xxx

    Hi Countrygal!

Thanks πŸ™‚ Well that is very exciting to hear. Hopefully all goes to plan and I will be one happy bridesmaid.

Thanks for having Im sure I will have 10001 questions as I go along! All ready for my second fast day tomorrow…the hunger is already hitting haha
