  • Noots. Hang in there, my FDs last week were also a struggle. I used to be able to go till 4pm without food but find that I can’t do that anymore..and am getting tired.I’m blaming it on the weather! So keep your focus, try different food, and keep busy. You can do this..????WE CAN DO THIS??????

Good morning team, this morning appears to be a warning of a summer storm. It “feels” like rain and a thunder storm could be possible. So fingers crossed ? I’m still on 74.4 this morning which means I’m hoping my plateau has started to move. 75.9k at the beginning of the week, so a loss I’m really thrilled about. I wasn’t really eating enough, sounds silly, but wasn’t eating up to my TDEE and wasn’t making my fast days low enough. So a bit of new training going on. ? My PC days were not intentionally low, just my appetite was’t that great. I don’t seem to be drinking much alcohol these days either, so will soon change that ? I guess it’s like we keep saying, do what works for you, experiment….but don’t lose the basics, you are not beating the system eating less, your body is holding onto what it can, but if if knows it’s being fed on a regular basis, your fast WILL count ?
Oh golly, a few drops of rain on the patio roof woohoo, hope there is at least 2″ we need it badly.
Fit, the team just got behind you and your disappointment, OH is fine in our eyes ? so never fear. It’s obvious with your life style that you share with us that he must be a lovely man.
Noots, end of week fasts always seem to be a struggle, but your AUSSIE DETERMINATION got you through ? and I’m sure it will with your op, uncomfortable for a while and awkward but better in the long run.
So making another coffee, then slowly start my (what could be a) lazy day, I woke up with idle’itis and it won’t shake ? so listening to my body today, nothing is urgent, might just enjoy the rain and hopefully storms (must be part of my nature, a good storm) I love watching the power of the almighty ?…..happy day team, don’t follow the path make your own track, and DON’T sweat the small stuff…xxxxxx

Fit. How lovely to have some recordings of your dad singing, and to have had him with you so long. We dont have any recordings of my dad as was not a common thing to do over 40 years ago. Times were so different in those days, everyone in the district travelling to the local dance halls on a Saturday night, dads family band never got paid, everyone brought along supper and the hall was free, we all had so much fun and certainly brought the community together. Dad and mum taught my brother and I to dance in the lounge room on a Sunday night listening to 2UE . ?????
Then on Sunday everyone went to whatever church they wanted to and gathered afterwards at either the tennis courts or cricket ground, depending on the season, with a picnic lunch. The local community mowed the grounds and rolled the tennis courts and had working bees for the upkeep of things. Such lovely memories which I treasure. oops got the days wrong ..this is supposed to be Wednesday..just got caught up remembering my wonderful dad…wouldn’t you know it.. They don’t have any cricket or tennis emoticons..must be too old fashioned..?????

Oh dear, Up did not fast this week and as a result is definitely UP.

Need that aussie determination to get back on track.

Meanwhile my daughter is “Hey let’s go out to brunch”….

Oh dear Up, I dare say it will not show on your thin frame ? and lunch out with your daughter is one of my favourite things to do so enjoy, next week will be here soon enough ? xxxxx

Hi all you lovely strong minded individuals. CG, life has given you the odd kick in the teeth but I admire your perseverance and inner strength. In my opinion it’s very important to be strong minded and have good self esteem. It’s something that I think comes with age and maturity. Wouldn’t it be great if we could have the looks and figures we had 20 – 30 years ago but the knowledge that we’ve gained over the years. Dream on !
I’m still not exercising as I’m giving the antiinflammatories a chance to kick in. I’ve just been pottering sound with some seedlings I planted and was on my feet a good couple of hours with no pain. I may try a short walk tomorrow. CG it also looks like rain here but I’m not all that confident it’s going to happen.
If anyone is interested, I’ve just put a ” how to cook fish in the microwave” in the recipe section. It’s not under our Aussie thread though but under Salmon. I’ve done it quite often lately and hubby and I love it. Yesterday he went fishing and came home with some flathead. Ugly name for a yummy fish. I think I’m going to have to resort to frying these as I don’t want to spoil them.
Milena, I also enjoy being on my own. My hubby used to be away a lot for his work but since retirement he doesn’t know quite what to do with himself. He does play golf and reads a lot. I bought him a Kindle for his birthday so he uses that a lot.
PH, we have all found that in the first few months of starting the 5:2 we lost weight quite regularly. In the beginning I was losing a kilo a week. This slows down and we just have to accept it as fact. Now if I lost a like a month is be happy. Your Melbourne Cup do sounds fun. Do enjoy.

Typo. That should be – if I lost a kilo a month I’d be happy.

Hi all, only lost 0.3 kg since last Saturday but at least the scales are going down. 2.2 kg gone since I started 5:2. On my non fast days I’ve been using The Hairy Dieters cook book, which my sister sent me from the UK. Tasty and low fat recipes. Not one dud yet. I enjoy trying out new recipes. Found I like the taste of leeks and parsnips, English staples and good for us. Will keep on keeping on until I get to my first goal of 59 kg, then onwards and downwards to my ultimate goal of 55 kg. No rush, just Aussie Determination!!!

Oh so true Doggie, my Mum used to say, you’ll wake up one morning and wonder where your younger years have gone, but it’s time to accept what we have, try to age gracefully, but I admit, I am fighting that bit ? but so very sore in the leg muscle today…weather…aerobics….the gym….mowing??? Maybe all of the above, but the rain looks to be starting, a bit heavier, so a perfect rest up day ?….look after yourself, good day for reading too xxxxxxx

Well done noots, and it does slow as you near your goal, naturally I guess as there is not much to lose ? xxxxx

CG. I was thinking the same thing about not eating enough on the non fast days. Just don’t seem to be hungry. Recorded everything I have eaten today and what is planned for dinner and still have 489cals left to go. So will be having some treats tonight. Great that your loss has continued. Well done. ?? hope the rain continues for you.

uP.. how was your lunch with your daughter? Special moments?? there always tomorrow!

Thanks for the encouragement Everyone, and Doggy – Yes I imagine the fast loss progress has come to a halt. Slowly does it from here. Did get a real buzz being able to buy size 18 shorts and swimmers though. Must be generous size brands but I’ll take it as encouragement. Love flathead. Enjoy..??

Noots . slowly and surely does it. As you say as long as it is going downwards then that’s great. ???well done on your loss.

Have had a nice day practicing my online betting. Not many winners though but will be able to place everyone’s bets on Cup Day. ??. The ???roses at Flemington are a picture.. Dinners ready –must go

    Hi All!
Put in a good non FD yesterday for a change thanks to MFP. I have obviously been overdoing it for quite some time; can’t believe how off I was about estimating calories consumed. I have no idea how you all manage not to eat near your TDEE – I must be such a glutton!! πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚
PH – sounds like a pretty idyllic childhood, what wonderful memories you have. Yes, the losses slow down but the health benefits in other ways keep happening; that’s why I’m determined to stick with this wol.
Up – you look wonderful in your photos so I’m sure a little break from fasting won’t do much harm. I hope you had a lovely lunch with your daughter – make precious memories and get back on the horse on Monday.
Doggy – hope you keep going from strength to strength. My OH cooks fish in the oven with black pepper and a splash of olive oil for about 15 or 20 minutes; covered in tin foil to seal in the moisture. It’s always lovely.
Noots – you are doing really well. Wow, your goal is low – you must be very petite! I love the Hairy Bikers. They also have a book of low cal recipes called the Hairy Dieters’ Cook Book. I often make their Spanish chicken tray bake….it’s delicious! πŸ™‚
CG – I prefer to age disgracefully!!! Sorry to hear your leg is giving you trouble and hope you feel better soon. Sounds like a lazy day is called for with a nanny nap or two when required and maybe a medicinal whiskey!! πŸ˜‰
Best wishes to all the rest of the AD gang….enjoy your weekend and remember the five p’s!!

Thanks. In the end there were 4 of us for lunch as my son came over and it was very nice. Just back from a friend’s birthday dinner and winding down while my husband prepares for the big game at 2 am here in Qld.

Yes, I just need to get back into it next week.

PH, I have never worried about eating up to my TD. I reckon if I’m not hungry, it’s a good thing. Personally, I don’t think it matters. It is overall calorie intake and I have seen no signs of slower metabolism or whatever. But whatever works for you is the way to go.

CG, hope the plateau is over for you. Well done , Noots.

Hope ye all enjoy the match and may the better team win!!

Congrats to the All Blacks and hard luck to the Wallabies…..well played and well fought! It’s Halloween night here and my poor dog is terrified by the fireworks and bangers so we could be in for a long night trying to keep her from being too distressed.

Good morning team. Hi Fit, your poor dog, Halloween has only started to take off in Australia over the last few years in a big way, but very quiet here in the country. I really over ate yesterday, three full meals starting with bacon and eggs, the weather was perfect for that type of breakfast and steak and salad for dinner, but golly, did I suffer for it. I don’t think my tummy could fit all the extra food in, or the carb overload, stabbing pains and bloating, it kept me awake. Could have even been something in my salad getting close to the turn, as I used up all the salad goods in the fridge. Nature has pushed some of it through this morning but wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Fast day tomorrow for most of us so get those plans in place ? and look forward to the cleansing effect it gives.
Congrats to the teams, I don’t know either, but guess if you watched the game, you’re still asleep ? Doggy and I will be the same once the cricket starts, BRING IT ON ?
Very muggy today, no storms eventuated as predicted, well out here, my daughter got them in Melbourne, but the drop of rain was lovely, it has such a cleansing refreshing feel about it. Have a lovely peaceful day team, enjoy whatever you plan and don’t stress the small stuff, today you can spoil yourself with a treat or two, no guilt attached ? ….xxxxxxxx

Got up for the last minutes of the game as I couldn’t sleep through the noise from my excited neighbors although my husband managed to watch quietly! I believe my daughter watched it at the pub dressed as a witch after a halloween party. Personally I am bah humbug about it for smaller children, particularly trick or treating but any excuse to dress up is always fun for many.

Ate and drank plenty at the birthday dinner last night but walked home, may have burnt off a few calories!
Off to walk around a caravan and camping show today and am still full from last night so hoping for a moderate day!

Hope you feel better soon, CG, I am not suffering today at all.

Hi everyone. It’s actually 1st November here in Oz now. Yes well done to the All Blacks. They are a force to be reckoned with. Commiserations to the Wallabies.
Noots and Fit, thank for the tip re The Hairy Bikers. I’m going to look out for the book. I enjoy their TV shows. Yes Fit poor animals are terrified of fireworks. One of my Golden Retrievs used to try and sit on my lap when she heard thunder.
We had a barbie planned for dinner tonight. Now I see the barometer is dropping so we may actually be in for some rain. That could be because I’ve just done a big wash and have all the duvet covers etc on the clothes line.
F D again tomorrow. I’d love to drop 500 gms this coming week. Time will tell.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. It’s a public holiday tomorrow , recreation day or some such. We’ve the usual influx of holidays weekenders.
    XS Doggy

Hi all, very muggy here in Port Stephens this afternoon. Looking forward to a big storm to clear the air. Had visitors today to lunch and we had lots of healthy salads plus chicken and I was so busy talking that I hardly ate. Starting choir practice this afternoon, getting ready for our Christmas concert. Only eight weeks to go, so I’ve been told.

So…..I’m back and prowling the thread to try to catch up. and yes, I have stories, and wails! and whatever could go wrong did and an it was bloody funny as anyway! and I neeed you! Girlfriends! whoever said(CG?) fotos catch us out waz spot on. I’m weighing 86kgs still (after much abuse, so that’s miracle in itself!)but I’m fffffffffffatttter than I thought I looked in the mirrer! I’ll get to that, but first I have to pay homage to FIT’s Irish singer songwriter. PAUL BRADY, such a lovely lad,( loooove the Irish lilt in all it’s forms, but folk music is my fav) when I first saw a TV clip of his early performances I was inspired to try my first folklore experiment , In my ‘short stories in long verse’ collection. If only I could sing! I might have had a very different life direction. But it still made a great hobby. tho I sometimes feel sad that my characters never had an audience.

So here is a link to my favourite Paul Brady rendition of ‘Arthur McBride’

    http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DCD4eS2Xb6Ls

And here is the ditty he inspired me to write….(in Oz lore)

    WALLY’S WAKE

β€œThe bush? Sure! I know the bush!” old Wally used to say
The stories he could tell still curl my hair today
β€œCatch a roo? Too right! I’d run the blighter down!”
Old Wally’s words of wisdom would be missed around the town.

I stood there in me finery, agrievin’ with the best
On the night before the morn when we’d lay him down to rest
Wally’d come a cropper and they’d found him in the hills
Fair gave β€˜em quite a turn, they said, β€œBlood up to β€˜is gills!”

Old dumb Jones had found him, an’ we know he ain’t too bright
Him and Ned had had a few, an’ it was gettin’ on fer night
They were headin’ home to Mary, fair shakin’ in their boots
β€˜Cos she’d have the broomstick handy, wouldn’t tolerate galoots

They cut across old Wally’s land to save a couple’ve hours
An’ they came upon β€˜im lyin’ there, all scattered in the flowers
His horse stood sadly by, he’d been in gettin’ stores
And Wally never left the pub β€˜til he couldn’t find the doors

β€˜Twas a ritual he had. After months out in the scrub
Whiskers trimmed and polished after hours in the tub
He’d don his best and, like a toff, he’d ride in on his horse
His most important business there was in the pub, of course

β€˜Twas a mighty fine occasion when old Wally came to town
He’d be singin’ as he rode and the word would get around
All the youngsters pounced upon β€˜im when he reached the general store
Hungry for his stories – an’ he thrilled β€˜em to the core

They’d hang on every word – eyes as big as saucers
Never tiring of bush rangers and them wild old mountain horses
β€œThe bush? Sure! There weren’t no law one time
There’s many men bin buried, no one swingin’ fer the crime!”

He’d get his grub together, then he’d lead his trusty mare
To the stables, with instructions, β€œTreat her kindly now, ya hear?”
Then he’d rub his hands together, maybe do a little jig
β€œI’m away there to the boozer, lads, me thirst is mighty big”

β€œI’ll wager Willie Weasel will be warmin’ up the cards
An’ I fancy hearin’ somethin’ sentimental frum the bards
Yahoo! Molly, darlin’! Give a man a little kiss
Me poor ol’ heart is yearnin’ fer a little taste a bliss”

    β€œA great shindig we’ll have – β€˜til me money’s bin an’ gone
I’ll wrestle any man now, I’m feelin’ mighty strong!”
He’d take his watch an’ chain an’ he’d place it on the bar
β€œNow, Joe, you get me horse when ya knows I’m gone too far….”

β€˜Twas the same this time as always, an’ they’d set him on his mare
β€œSee ya next time, Wal, mind ya way an’ take a care.”
But it seems he never made it, an’ Jones’ lad, young Ned
Came a’riding hell fer leather, yellin’, ”Poor ol’ Wally’s dead!”

Well, we did the proper thing, considerin’ the rum
He’d broke his neck fer sure, an’ the doc he couldn’t come
He was wearin’ all his best, an’ he never looked so fine
So we placed β€˜im in a box of the grandest polished pine

Then we carried him in state…. Ahh… So sadly… to the pub…
An’ we sang his mortal praises while we feasted on his grub
The Weasel, who was known as the sharpest kind of card
Gave a fine rendition of old Wally’s favourite bard

β€˜Twas gettin’ on fer midnight, the wicked witchin’ hour
When Molly, sobbin’ softly, went to offer him a flower
We was passin’ round the bottle an’ givin’ him a toast
When she shrieked! The lid was liftin’, β€œOh Gawd! It’s Wally’s ghost!”

The Weasel, he jest whimpered, β€œWally! Take it! Every penny!
I’ll never cheat agin’ on a man who’s had too many!”
Old dumb Jones was passed it, but he muttered from the floor
β€œI seen the blood meself! He’s dead! Where’s the flamin’ door!”

The β€˜ghost’ it rose up slowly, then it turned to Joe an’ said
β€œWot’s he ravin’ on about? This ain’t me ruddy bed!”
Then Joe he told the tale and it left old Wally scoffin’
Madder than a bull he was, roarin’ from his coffin

β€œβ€™Tweren’t no blood attall yer fools, I fell orf of me horse
An’ I broke a ruddy bottle of me red-eyed picklin’ sauce!
Then I lay me down a bit, ter have a little rest
This ain’t no cause fer buryin’, I’m lively as the best!”

An’ Wally an’ the Weasel are still arguin’ today
Wally sez he owes him, but the Weasel he won’t pay
β€˜Cos the Weasel bought the coffin, but he sez it’s Wally’s debt
An’ he sez it ain’t his fault if Wal ain’t used it yet!

We are getting very quiet on our thread team, why? A couple are away but the rest need your support ?…thunder storms looming, few rumbles and STILL waiting, very humid too. Salads are my plan for tomorrow so will buy fresh after aerobics. Have you planned for your fast tomorrow? Got some iced tea ready in the fridge ? boiled a couple of eggs if needed? All so very easy and ready to go….noots your day sounds lovely, keep up the great work…
Up, I’m the same with Halloween, we teach our kids all year not to talk to strangers, then let them walk the streets knocking on strangers doors! Strange celebration to have copied……….happy day team xxxx

Oh yeah, and here is my fat foto! fittingly, the background reflects my crappy delight! Ever hoping the fat legs are an optical illusion! The tattooed larrikin is my grandson.

     photo 12193544_1058613444169190_7788259541787897019_n.jpg

It doesn’t seem fair, this was taken only the day before. best I keep my clothes on!

Gyps welcome back, just love the poem, an interesting and funny story. You have been missed my friend, getting too damn quiet around here ? xxxxxx

How proud your grandson looks to be with his biker Gran ? xxxx

Anyhow, the trip was epic, tho attendance was down on previous years (for the bike rally) but we raised enough money with combined functions this year, to get a spinabifida lad his new electronic wheelchair (over $70,000) so it was worth is. Unfortunately it was far too hot to think about wallowing in hot springs and the mud baths were dried to cake. there is a sad drought going on in the West. I only got a few piccies in before I ‘lost’ my phone for the rest of the trip(It fell out of my purse into the boot of my sidecar and got buried under the contents. I found it when we got home. So no lessons in using the phone ap to post. We were off the grid up over the North West ranges for 4 days and then came back down to the coast for a week in a beachside van park. All good, but strenuous. I think I lost the bloats we see in the first picture, but some serious focus on WOE is my next focus.

The Gawdmuther sends her regards and is looking forward to meeting you all at the WTF reunion. I see a post that sez Sj is in! and sharing with PH. Good show! is that 6 booked in and hopefully lotus and UP also in Town? looking good girls! Am trying to catch up on posts and did miss you all.
Dawg, you sound better and CG, you’re powering! Noted that GG is busy and UP too, but they pop in. Milena! I see you back in good form (think we have somethings in common) – you rebel-rouser you! I agree OH’s come in many degrees of perfect! Happy to say mine has been suitably trained by previous witches, poor sod was so badly done by he thinks I’m angelic! Harrr! Haahar!

Have been following the saga of Fit’s ‘nothing to wear’. Hell, If all else fails just wear a sack and smile. You’d look good in anything. BTW, I also have an issue with Statins, I keep going off them because of muscle cramps. so whoever said their dr sad it was a viable plan to go off for a month or so now and then has got my attention. I think I will try that. certainly I have high Cholesterol and I guess it comes down to the lesser of two evils?

Well I have a mountain of unpacking to do and eggs to boil for tomorrow’s fast. Must be time for a sav?

Well done to our new members, stick with it. It will work. Gawd, I shudder to think how huge I would be if I DIDN’T have 5:2 as a backup plan!

    The Gawdmuther sez Hi….
     photo 20120421_124931.jpg

Hi CG, I see you’ve busted through your plateau, good work! I got a shock when I saw that foto of me. it seems I blow up when I eat bread so I guess I have a gluten sensitivity. Sounds very dry down your way, too. so sad for the cattle up here. The semis were passing us loaded with hay for the western properties. our rotary clubs are funding drought relief up here. shame on the government! Our farmers are going to the wall in droves and we’ll be at the mercy of imported foods if they don’t get better support . Glad I’m not a farmer anymore. hope you are having a lazy Sunday. Roll on fast day!xx gyps

Hi Gyps, yes and the dairy prices too…..we have been very cold this winter but also very dry, so in for a long hot summer, usually follows a cold winter. I’m glad my garden is well established! In the past, when we get the drought, you get the floods, just a constant circle for us country dwellers, but, wouldn’t swap it for the world. I still have plenty of greenery but dry under the surface, just superficial rain sprinkles keeping it green, but won’t last long, the sun is getting hotter and will burn it off before too long. Yes, I’m hoping my plateau has broken, could be a tease like the predicted rain, but hoping, it’s about bloody time, a plateau since April,!!! At least it wasn’t a lot of gain, although headed for the 80’s again but that dropped with each fast, but believe I wasn’t eating enough oddly enough, just keeping my cals pretty level, but my tummy rebelled yesterday with the extra carbs etc so being a bit cautious today. Pork spare ribs tonight, so not quite the recommended, but saw them on special, marinated and thought yuuuummmmm! So fasting tomorrow should give me a good clean, I hope ?, just so happy you are back, xxxxxxx

Hi All! (though ‘all’ is a bit of a stretch…where is everybody?)
Oh Gyps – how we have missed you!! I think you were definitely Irish in a former life…….. a brilliant balllad and typically Irish; long and wandering and with about a hundred verses!!! There’s many a character like Wally in Irish lore too. I thoroughly enjoyed it πŸ˜† The photo of you and your grandson is so cute – I’m sure you are a grandma in a million and I bet he boasts about you to all his mates. You look great in all the pics and any bloating will soon be gone. Well done on the money raised for such a good cause; it will make a huge difference to that young lad so good on ya! I’ll be thinking of you at the Paul Brady concert and will raise a toast to you if he sings ‘Arthur McBride’. πŸ™‚
Doggy – don’t you know putting duvets on the line is the modern equivalent of a rain dance! πŸ˜‰ Hope you enjoy more Hairy Bikers’ recipes and that you lose the 500g this week. My poor dog eventually settled down when things quietened down and she seems fine this morning.
UP – glad to hear you had a fun evening with no after-effects! I agree that the Americanisation of Halloween is annoying….we used to stay at home and have traditional party games with a few friends – much safer and less greedy. Gosh, I’m turning into a right old grouch!!!!
Noots – enjoy the singing; what kind of choir are you in? Sounds like you had a very healthy lunch even with visitors around – well done!
CG – sorry to hear about the tummy troubles; it just shows how much you had got used to eating quite low cals; I hope you are feeling much better now. We have a very heavy, low-lying autumn mist here this morning and it doesn’t seem to be lifting. It looks like we’re in for a damp, gloomy day.
I’m hoping to be very strict with my calorie counting this week and maybe even get close to losing one kg over the two fasts… I can do this!!! We all can! BRING IT ON!

    Hi all

great to see you Gyp – loved the poem!

Hope you are all having a great start to the month!

Good morning team, happy fasting day. We don’t always look forward to them but are always proud of ourselves when we complete one because we know the benefits. It does make it difficult if you are having a social season, with the Melbourne Cup but necessary so you can enjoy your treats and few drinks ? guilt free. It is only one day, and with the Cup tomorrow, perfect timing, you know YOU CAN DO IT, it is for you, no one else, your shape is changing as are the size of your clothes. Your skin, hair and nails are improving and your medical readings are improving, so, IT’S WORKING ☺️
A bit of a cold snap for us today so good soup weather and lots of hot drinks to ward off the cold, which we seem to feel in this zigzag climate as we do when the heat hits. We don’t get a chance to get used to either so it’s the food we eat which will help. I’m off to water aerobic after my shower, not really a pool day, but gotta keep moving, move it or lose it!
Have a lovely day team, your fast will be easy if you have planned, and tomorrow, Cup Day, you can enjoy the treats and celebrations ? xxxxxxxxx

Hi all, fit, my choir is a combined churches one on my little peninsula at Port Stephens. We get together every year to practice Christmas songs and perform them at local carol services, especially at the old people’s home here. I love singing and am an alto, which means I am usually in demand as there are often less of us. Really enjoyed the practice and a new song.
I am only five feet tall which is why I am aiming for 55 kg. My husband nearly died of lymphoma earlier this year and I believe the stress caused me to gain almost 10 kg. Now he’s recovering but losing the weight is still not easy. So glad I found 5:2 and this helpful website. Thanks ladies for all your support.

CG – hope you enjoy the aerobics and that the weather improves again for you. The mist didn’t really clear up here but it was very still and mild so I’m not complaining. The long range forecast is for a white Christmas and for a very long winter, with a possibility of snow right up to May next year!!!! Eeeeeek! Maybe we will find a way to afford a trip to Oz after all!! I’m shivering already at the thought of such a prolonged cold snap; brrrrrrrr!
Noots – I sing in a small church choir too but sadly, the numbers are dwindling rapidly due to the age profile and there are no young people interested in joining, as attendance in church is also dying out. I love singing at Christmas and even though there are very few of us (about 12 to 15 ladies), we do some lovely harmonies. Enjoy the practices and the performances too πŸ™‚

Sorry to be missing in action but the yard requires quite a bit of work. The bout of hot weather just makes it harder to get things done.

I managed to lose 5.5 kgs for the month and am now down the 67 kgs. When I started again in August 75 kgs was the aim and that had been a plateau on 80 kgs for years. I expect the loss to be lower with all the Christmas functions coming up. I have bought some new coat hangers and on the next extremely hot days will be going through my wardrobe to take out my large size clothes. I can now see the weight coming off my stomach which is a victory. I still need to get rid of 10 cm around the waist to be under 80 cm for a female. It helps that I am now eating plenty of salad from the garden so less temptation at the supermarket. I did fall of the wagon last weekend as I had to get groceries for our Christmas dinner and went down the lolly aisle and succumbed. Ended up with a bad headache the next day.

Wow!! GL – what a fantastic loss in just a month!! I’m in awe!! You will be throwing out quite a few clothes, I reckon πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Congrats and keep up the good work!

Hi all. Well done GL 502 you are to be congratulated. Gypsy it’s good to see you back and in poetic mode.
Well yesterday was all promise of rain and not one drop eventuated. We had horrible wind all day to help dry out the poor garden even more.
FD again here too. I agree CG, I don’t really enjoy them but it is a sense of achievement when one gets into bed and know another good FD has been achieved. My knee is still not %100. The swelling has gone down since arresting the antiinflammatories but it was limping Agri yesterday. Probably weather related as the barometer had dropped a lot.
Ang in there team and remover it is just for today.

All these autocorrects have made a nonsense of my text. I hope you can fathom it out.

Wow GL congratulations, your AUSSIE DETERMINATION is really working for you.
Doggy, turn the auto correct off, it’s in the settings,it drove me mad on my iPad so it’s gone! It has a mind of it’s own, plus American spelling or terminology. We got quite a bit of drizzle, almost looks foggy, quite wetting but not soaking the ground, we can live in hope.
Fit I don’t know wether to envy you on the beauty of your predicted snow or sympathise because of the cold. I take it your homes (and wardrobes) are snow proof as ours are really built for the heat! It did snow here about 5 years ago and my reverse cycle cut off, too cold for it to work! I froze and had on more layers of clothes than I could count ? but during our cold winters, it does handle it, and I’m passed chopping wood (or the expense of buying it) so didn’t put an open fire in my home when I built, it’s now all push button ?
I got out of the pool early today, I just couldn’t warm up even with the exercises, I felt chilled to the core, could be part of the tummy upset thingy, which has passed through now, but couldn’t get into a hot shower quick enough. I called into Aldi to get fresh salad goods, and have decided most will go into a stirfry for dinner, I need something hot? fortunately I can cook.
Noots keep up the great work, you have put in a hard year and will be rewarded ?
Keep the faith team, not always easy with this fickle weather but hot drinks do go down well, miso soup later, YOU CAN DO IT xxxxxxxxxx

    Hi guys,

Sorry I’m not checking in that often, I just finished my last week of uni and this week I’m at home studying for exams.
Last week I’ve hit the dreaded plateau and I can’t fast for another 3 weeks until exams are finished.

I might try to skip the middle of the day meal a few days this week and see how that goes.
Honestly if I could cut the late night snacking I wouldn’t have a problem. Why is sugar only an issue at about eight o clock at night, when it hasn’t been an issue the whole day?

Hi Maratus – don’t put yourself under pressure to do this in any particular time-scale; this is a way of life and you can do it in your own time. When your exams are over, maybe you won’t be up late at night looking for a sugar rush to give you energy to study. Sensible eating and portion control will keep you on an even keel until you are ready to start fasting again. Not gaining is also a success, so keep doing your best and 5:2 will wait for you. Best of luck!

Morning Team……Arrived back from Sydney yesterday afternoon. My school reunion was good . A small group of 19 out of 120. A small group was fine as each of us spent time catching up with each other.Sadly no pics to show.
WELCOME BACK TO OUR GYPSY…..You were very missed and I am happy that despite a few hick ups you are home safe. What a fabulous effort to raise so much money.
Your grand son is a handsome lad!Just love your poem!!!

FIT- for your reunion outfit why not consider a long black skirt and white shirt that you can bling up. Its the perfect combo for a cocktail affair and is never out of style. You are looking so beautiful …this would be super chic!

NOOTS- I understand all too well what your emotions are and are at . My OH was diagnosed with Lymphoma 2yrs ago. He is not undergoing any treatment ……its watch and wait for visits to his specialist in Sydney every 6-12mths. We have been on the emotional roller coaster since his diagnosis. He has had surgery twice to remove tumours from his neck and groin. Be strong and if you need to download I will be here for you.xxxxxxxx

Melbourne Cup lunch to attend tomorrow…. so thank the stars for FD today. It will sure to be a a smorgous board of food and treats as these country gals make the best deserts.
Will have pics for this event GYPSY can I send them to you please so that you will post them for me?

    Hi all,
sorry I have not posted I have had a house full of visitors for a week ,they all left this morning so it’s major clean up for me washing ironing beds etc. I love having people to stay .
Have four friends coming tomorrow for two nights was we are doing a garden tour.. I am so looking forward to it as the Rhodedendrons are magnificent at the moment. Will be a great couple of days. My OH is going to cook dinner for us both nights. Now I have been trying hard to keep the cals to my limit although I had a few slip ups this last week, lost 500 grams. Very surprising but had no wine.! This lot didn’t partake at all . It’s the wine that seems to slow me down. ? It will be a different story for the next two days but I will try and be careful . Melbourne Cup is almost a non event here,I used to love it in Aussie but I’m still on a high after the Rugby yesterday. I hope you all have a great Melbourne Cup day those of you who are celebrating. FD to day going great to busy to eat. Will check in in a few days take care all TM.

Maratus, I totally agree with Fit, wait for the right timing, we will still be here, one thing at a time ?
GG glad you are home safely and had a lovely catch up at your reunion. Often a smaller group is more intimate and you get the chance to have the one on one. Next question, did your fascinator turn up??? It’s been the mystery of the week?
Tuis, life comes first as do friends and family, so 5;2 and AD will wait, enjoy the lovely flower show, how peaceful..xxxxxxx

HI CG… thanks for the welcome home. NO!!!!!!! the facinator has not shown itself. One of the girls has come to my rescue… so I am ready to go.
Will I was in Sydney I went down to our motel for the WTF reunion to book for my friend and I in 2 weeks. We have a studio apartment . I think that you will all be happy with “The Oaks”.There is a shuttle bus service to the Oaks from the airport will post the number later. There is also A great coffee shop next door…. we are set!……GO GAL XXXX

Great news GG, you get to try it out for us, and check out the best places to eat ? xxxx

Morning all I’m lurking but not posting much at the moment. Had a bad weekend so OH & I have decided to go for some counselling together to help us get through this family situation. Will be back on top of things soon. Fasting today but ate all sorts of stuff over the weekend. But a couple of fasts should see me back down again. Determined to not let this railroad me. Have a good day all. suejen XXXX

    GG Oaks sounds great.

Hi all, sorry for being AWOL. Have been really struggling with pain the last couple of days and so just hibernated in bed . It’s time I got up and about again and got on with life. Managed to get myself up and to the hydro pool this morning with the help of OH. Feels so good to get into that lovely hot water. Have increased my pain meds again, something I really don’t want to do . Called into the shops on the way home and picked up some packet miso soup, I usually make mine from scratch, so am doing FD , . My friend has taken over the preparations for Cup party for me and is having it at her house, bless her.

Gyps. Welcome back, missed your wonderful posts…nice looking grandson..very happy to be spending time with his cool nan! Loved the poem..well done with the fundraising.

GL. 5.5 Kgs in a month is fantastic.. Well done. ????

to everyone else…have a good fast day

Suejen, what a shame, I’m sure you will both get through whatever your problems are, please know we are here for you, not to snoop, but as friends, take care my friend xxxx

Purple at least some of the pressure is off you so you can now enjoy the day as a guest. Pain is so controlling and goes hand in hand as we age for a lot of us. I think we really do need to listen to our bodies as being strong isn’t always good. We don’t have a clock or boss to answer to these days, house work can always wait, so if rest is what is needed then that’s what should happen. Do take care and rest up for tomorrow xxxxx

SJ-Thoughts are with you at this distressing time. Take care of yourself and OH.
PH- hope you are getting relief. Take it slow. Enjoy your lunch tomorrow…. You are a winner… remember that.
Hugs to you both ……GO GAL xxx

Hi all, I’m new here and trying, no!, I intend to loose 10kgs! Since I turned 50 I’ve given myself a fool’s pardon to just eat what I like….dumb, dumb, dumb, and I’m menopausal!!! hence the 10kg weight gain. So, this sounds like the way to go.
A little bit about myself…..I’m 50, doh!! originally from Co. Down, Northern Ireland and emigrated to Western Australia with my husband and 2 kids (now 10 + 14) 7 years ago. I do Bootcamp 3 mornings a week and really need to get back into walking my poor neglected dog Mollie on the other mornings…..I lost this habit 6-9 months ago and haven’t felt motivated enough to get off my butt and keep ‘er lit as they say back home!
I CAN do this, I WILL do this, I just need to fit back into my clothes as I refuse to buy new when I have so many just lying around doing nothing!
Confession time, alcohol is my main problem (I have loads of others which I won’t go into here! Ha ha ha ha, and which I must address at my next meeting! LOL I jest!! No hate mail please πŸ™‚
I just love a beer in the sunshine in the afternoon/evening and when the sun shines here most of the time I’m sure you can appreciate the seriousness of my problem…..it wasn’t so bad back home, since it bloody well rained most of the time!!!
Soooooo, I intend to have 4-5 alcohol free days a week and just take it from there. I had a little practice last week and made it to 3…..Yay! Go me! So here goes, 1st fast day tomorrow, the resumption of the four-legged friend plod and I’ll talk to y’all soon. Xx
