  • Suejen you little ripper ?????? you have been trying for so long and you’re AUSSIE DETERMINATION has paid off, well done my friend, I’m so pleased for you.
I’m fasting today and golly am I feeling the cold and my usual zest seems to have waned so had a Nanny nap. I’m just having a hot milky coffee to get inner warmth, I hope the rest of you team are going well, good luck, it’s not easy when we get a cold snap………chat soon xxxxxx

Well done SJ…..Congrats on getting into the 60’s. It has finally happened! What an inspiration you are to us!
FD went well for me. Am so looking forward to mushroom and zucchini strog tonight.
I too felt the cold today windy and rain most of the day. I found myself drinking copious hot fluids that is miso soup black tea, jarra cafe alatte, so far am under 380 cal . So will have a small dinner to take me to 500cals.Also had a couch type day .
Hope you all had an easy FD.
Have a FAB night ….see you tomorrow…..GO GALxxxx

Yay, Sue Jen. Fell off the wagon fast wise and had 4 corn thins with peanut butter…

Well I have done my first fast day, went ok actually just under 500 cals. I’ve been reading your posts and getting some inspiration. I will fast again next Tuesday and weigh on Friday .looking forward to the week.

Tuis that’s great, it will put you in sync with most of the team we usually fast Mon and Thurs. and weigh in Friday’s. It does get easier so stick with it.
GG, you’ll be back to the low 70’s before you know it. It really must be the weather, our days ran parallel. ?
Up you are the last one to worry about blowing a fast, the odd blow out certainly won’t effect you ?
Just had steak and veg for dinner, the gurgles were really noisy today ….needing food for warmth ? but day almost over, another hot drink should see me through xxxxxxx

Thanks everyone for all your encouragement. I am living in NZ but spent many years in Aussie so I have a foot in each camp. I’ve tried lots of diets over the years and want to give this my best shot. My husband just has to think diet and he loses the weight but I need to be much more careful although I have a sweet tooth and he doesn’t. I am retired but keep busy love the garden ,fishing and walking as well.

    Hi All!
Nice and sunny again here after alot of rain for a day or two. I’m fasting today, so hoping to get back on track after all the excesses of the weekend. I decided to have breakfast (porridge) because I’ll be conducting interviews later and didn’t want my tummy gurgles to put the interviewees off! πŸ˜‰
SJ – I’m so thrilled for you to be in the 60s….woohoo! yippee! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ˜† πŸ˜† 😎 😎 You are amazing, you are the poster girl for the four Ps of this wol – plan, prepare, patience and persistence!!! Enjoy the success and achievement – big hugs to you (((( ))))
Up – your little splurge is nothing…I polished off the Toblerone I had put away before the wedding and then had lots of sweets and kitkats…….once the beast has awoken, there is no stopping it!!! That’s how I put on 1.5kg in such a short space of time!! I’m a disaster! But now, the cupboard is bare and will stay that way and I’m determined to be strong and focussed on our little race, so BRING IT ON!!!!!
Doggy – so sorry to hear you are still struggling with your knee and energy levels…it’s very frustrating! Really hope you see some improvement soon xxxx
Show – as you can see, you are not alone in getting attacks of the munchies! Move on, don’t dwell on it and get back on the horse…..having less treats in the house helps me and sometimes going to bed early with a good book is a good way to avoid temptation. As a carer, I hope you get some down-time for yourself…it’s a hard and demanding role. Be kind to yourself xxxx
CG – I’m not surprised you are a bit deflated at the moment. You have been running on adrenaline and the need to be strong and supportive for all your family for the last few weeks and now that Teagan is over the worst, your system is taking a well-earned rest. So listen to your body and have as many nanny naps as you need…now is the the time to take care of yourself! Xxxx
GG – very wise to have lots of warm and comforting drinks when you feel the chills πŸ™‚ Well done on your fast day meal, you always seem to have great ideas that bring you in under the 500 cals, well done!
TM – congrats on first successful fast, the first of many!! Best of luck and keep up the good work! πŸ™‚
Ok, I’m going to try to keep busy with lots of chores before I leave for the interviews and with a bit of luck, the FD will have passed by in the blink of an eye! Take care, everybody and have a lovely evening.

Fittoretire, what kind words, thank you. I love reading everyone’s posts, it’s nice to know we’re not alone in our battle. I am working tomorrow so no time to eat until I get home at 5 PM and it’s a fast day, will need to watch out and get a snack ready for when I get home. Good luck to everyone fasting tomorrow.
    Cheers
    Sue

Evening all! Successful FD here … but very hungry after dinner (so you are definitely not alone Show!)

Whoooo Hoooo SJ!!! What a great effort πŸ™‚

CG – to respond to your comment about Michael & Mimi, I bought the revised ed of the book and they did continue to lose weight and now continue to fast on the maintenance program (6:1). (Mimi went from 60kg to 54kg (BMI 21.4 to 19.4) and Michael from 187lb to 168lb (BMI 26.4 to 24)). Sorry you’ll have to do your own conversion on the lb) Well, that’s what they say in the book anyway πŸ˜‰ Michael does mention that his weight sometimes creeps up again (esp Christmas time) and he goes back to 5:2 for a bit.

Bit of a headache tonight which I suspect is more hormones than fasting (they tend to get me that way) so early to bed & check in tomorrow with my measurements.

Have a great night & an even better day tomorrow!

EmT thanks for that info, they can’t have had much to lose could they, it’s not a lot down, maybe they are happy where they are. Try extra water if your getting head aches, you may find it helps.
Fit at the end of a fast day, your porridge sounds so yum, I could gladly tuck into a bowl right now ? Have a lovely day.
I’m off to bed, nighty nite team, weigh in tomorrow ? good luck, and don’t be hard on yourself if it doesn’t turn out the way you hoped xxxxxxx

Hi all. Had a good very busy fast day. Just getting to bed and it is 11.15pm. Very late for me …so will catch up with everyone tomorrow,

    SUEJEN,..AWESOME ??????????????✨??

Thanks team for the congrats and encouragement! It’s great to be able to celebrate it with others who are travelling the same journey. The next few kilos better be off my middle as that’s where I sure need to move it.
EmT we can all relate to hungry after dinner! That’s when I have my Jarrah Hot Choc for just 45 cals, or if I don’t have enough cals left it’s a Licorice tea or an Orange Cinnamon tea – a sweet hit.
Show have a HB egg or 2 ready for when you get home…or even take something with you for on the way home if you think you’ll be tempted! Or cut up some vegies ready to snack on. I used to find coming home after a day’s work my worst time. I would munch on anything I could lay my hands on!
Fit I trust you haven’t replaced that chocy & the cupboard is bare!! That way you have a fighting chance with the challenge, but you also have such a challenging social life too don’t you! All good though.
Tuis sounds like we can rightly give you honorary aussie status too….or should I say joint status on the forum. It’s great to have others join us! All the best. Glad your first FD went very well. Atta girl!
GG love the sound of your mushroom & zucchini strog but OH will NOT eat zucchini….unless I can totally disguise it. I on the other hand would love it. Would be so low in cals too.
CG glad you survived the day with hot drinks. Think it hits us worse when we get a cold snap…you really feel it. Just enjoying my licorice tea but think I have celebrated hitting the 60’s a bit too much today. Never mind….it was worth celebrating. Nighty night all. suejen XXXX

Hi, quick weigh in. I abandoned the fast in the end and added avocado to my salad and drank wine with my husband.
Consequently today I have not lost but still in the 63’s. It was bizarre how hungry I got and being at work meant I had limited choices. I hope those who are weighing today get good results.

Hi all. Firstly Suejen, well down you, you must be so chuffed. It’s a great achievement.
Tuismum, I’m interested in your name choice. Is it Homemum? I ask because I was born in South Africa and huis is home is Afrikaans. You don’t have to answer if you’d rather not. I’ve lived in Australia for decades though.
Weigh day here and I’m down a tiny bit. I don’t have digital scales but just clocked onto 70. My measurements are down a bit too so I’m happy with that. Unfortunately this plateau does seem to last for a long time but we just have to persevere.
CG it’s interesting re your remarks about Michael and Mimi. He does seem to have his fingers in a lot of pies.Every now and then I will see a documentary featuring him.
My FD yesterday wen off well but I also felt cold and had the heater on all day. Much to hubby’s annoyance as he has his Scots miserliness come to the fore every now and then. I did think a lot about food though. I guess that’s the difference between me now and when I was working, especially as a nurse. I was always super busy on my feet all day in theatre and food was just another meal I had to prepare at the end of a trying day. Now I enjoy cooking much more and eating too. Then I used to buy my clothes at the Miss Petite section of Myers. Now it’s size 14. I still have a few nice tops and I’m Aussie Determined to get into within the next few months.
Enjoy the day team. I just love Fridays.
    ?

Thanks Dawg you’re not far behind me! You’ll get into those miss petite tops for sure.
CG are you OK? I don’t think I’ve ever woken up and not had your super motivating post waiting for me. Everything alright? Xx
    Post more later. Suejen xxxx

Good morning team, although it’s 12:10 so good afternoon! Suejen aren’t you a darling missing me AND noticing I try to post first. Just couldn’t get my act together this morning, dilly dallied before I went to aerobics and just didn’t get to post. I did weigh in, nothing has moved OR gained, and I starved yesterday, usually I’m fine but golly… I could have eaten a horse….AND chased the rider!
Must be weather related? No matter, I fasted, stayed with in my 500 and got it completed. Just got in from shopping, having a latte now and cooking a roast chicken for dinner, with lots of vegies ? also giving me cold meat for the week end.
Team, don’t let the numbers on your scales alter your attitude, or especially your mood for the day ? they are only a guide! Measure yourself….and even if that hasn’t altered, things ARE happening inside you. All that fat around your organs is dissolving, your shape IS changing, YOU ARE LOOKING GOOD and SO much better than this time last year☺️ so be proud of yourself, you are taking control. It’s not just fast days which matter, the choices you make on “normal” days is oh so important as well as you PC. If you do over indulge, just enjoy it and move on. We are human, we do go over board occasionally, but your fasting takes care of it. So feel positive, life is not meant to revolve around numbers on the scales!!! Go out and live it, stay healthy, be positive and know your journey is worth while, it IS doing you good, so hold your head high team, we are AUSSIE DETERMINATION, we are a team, it is not individuals who lead, we are in this together, and we are all different. You are your own person, with your own history, and life style, so enjoy, smile, be yourself and love your life, no matter how tedious it seems at times, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, we are here for each other, so make today count, plan something different for the week end, and just enjoy whatever you do….happy day team ? xxxxxxxx

Afternoon AD’s. Hope the day is more warmer for some of you. Still blowin a cool wind here on the coast.
Where are you CG? will contact you later if I have not heard from you.
I am still 75kgs today ….so am doing another fast. That makes it 4:3 this week will have another weigh in tomorrow. Really have to kick this plateau in the butt!
as I have my school reunion on the 31st and a Melbourne Cup lunch to attend. So must be stunning for both ……sorry to be so vein.
SJ- I have found were your accommodation is . I am concerned about you going back there at night…..I will keep researching accommodation similar, that may be close to us,Have you contacted the OAKS by chance?
    Catch up later……..GO GALxxxx

My fast day today is going well. Did half hour on Wii fit then lots of gardening and sweeping. Weigh in day tomorrow.

    Hello Ads πŸ™‚

GG – it is warm (make that hot) here, which is not a change, but the status quo. Would enjoy a cool wind!!!!!!

SJ thanks for the ideas for the post dinner hungries. I just had a coffee with a dash of milk which seemed to do the trick.

CG – yeah, I don’t think Michael & Mimi really had a lot of weight to lose, but then Michael was originally investigating the diet re the health & longevity benefits rather than weight loss per se I guess. And yes, been drinking plenty of water thanks, pretty sure the headache was hormonal – I have always had them around “that time of the month”. In fact hoping losing a bit of weight might help as it may lower my oestrogen levels, which is apparently the trigger.

Well done to all, even if you do have a plateau – after all they are not a gain & are a very normal part of the weight loss process!

My measurements are down, but waist seems to be going down the slowest! Not something we are able to control, of course, but mildly annoying πŸ˜‰

And to paraphrase CG – We choose to make today a GREAT day!!!!!!!

CG good to see you’re fine & just busy. thought you might be! GG I’ll keep looking for accommodation as I’m not locked in. Rang Oaks this morning & joined as a member which gives me $195 a night so still a lot more. Promised OH I’d keep the costs as low as I could! Plenty of time yet.
Measured myself this morning after months of not bothering with the plateau. Lost 1cm off bust and 1cm off hips….nothing off the waist where I need to lose it darn! Never mind it’s all good.
GG not vain to want to look your best at all – we all want to do that! But from memory last photo I saw of you in your leather pencil skirt you looked great!!
Doggie I too used to buy clothes in the Miss Petite section at Myer but don’t think I have any left – got handed away years ago.

Have a great day/weekend all whether you lost or not. If you’ve managed to stick to your FD routines then you’re an absolute winner anyway & you’re improving your health no end don’t forget. Hang onto that if the scales are being *&%%$# minded! suejen XXXX

Hi all.. Sorry I am not posting much. Having a hard time with pain at the moment and having to force myself to do stuff. Made myself go to the hydro pool for an extra session this morning which relieved things for a while and then shouted myself a nice breakfast and coffee, at the little local coffee shop, on the way home. Just poached eggs & bacon. Lovely.. Dallied over that and then it was time to go to the beautician to get eyebrows etc done, can’t keep my hands still enough to do them myself. While I was there my brother phoned to meet him in town for lunch which was lovely and then had an appointment with a carpet person to sort out daughters carpet on her behalf, she is in Perth and her house is here. So very busy day and now lying in bed trying to recover. Don’t know why the aches and pains are back with a vengeance but hopefully just the weather. Did have time for my weigh in and lost .5 kg so not bad for a week of visitors. Did manage to complete fast yesterday so that was good.

I have just read the latest posts and too many to answer. Everyone seems to be going fine though and the support still flowing from all the wonderful experienced 5.2 gals. Keep up the good work everyone..will try to do better with posting..??

Hi PH, what a lovely full day you have had, it’s a shame it was ruined with pain. What type of pain do you have and is it normal for you? If so, I take it you have medication to help you, and resting up is a good idea ? so take it easy and look after yourself… Xxxxx

HI team! how have the rest of you gone on this FD? Well done to all. Remember even .1g is something. to be excited about. Make your mantra… BRING IT ON …I CAN DO THIS! This is my journey to a new WOL and WOE, You are doing this for you with the added benifits to better sustainable health.
I did well until 3pm ,had a hand full of peanuts to kerb my hunger. Tonight dinner will be salmon and salad with crunchy noodles. Cannot weight LOL!
PH- what a full on wonderful day you have had . Rest up and hoping tomorrow is a pain free day for you.
Have no idea what the weekend will bring….its cold so I am in my leggings and 2 light jumpers.Hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Time to think of planning interesting crusine for the coming week. You cannot go wrong when you incorporate the 4 P’s into your AUSSIE DETERMINATION and it will work with your lifestyle.
    ALL THE BEST…….GO GAL XXXX

    Hi All!
Nice and sunny again here today; this has been the best autumn for quite a long time so I have no excuse for overindulgence! Just popped over to say goodbye to my niece, her french husband and two gorgeous little girls who were home for the wedding and they are off back to France now. It’s always sad to see them go but hopefully we will see them soon again. They are also going to come and stay with me and OH in Normandy next July when the Tour de France (big cycle race) is on, because several stages of the race will come very close to our house and it’s very exciting. Alot of Irish riders take part and we’ve even had a couple of winners over the years. There will be a festival atmosphere in the area and lots of events on to celebrate the race, so it should be great fun.
GG – you are not vain at all; you are just celebrating how far you have come and what you have achieved in this wol. I also have a school reunion coming up in two weeks, so I’m trying to get my act together and look my best too. Hope you find your fascinator for the Melbourne Cup…if not, hire a new one….we want glamorous photos, please! πŸ™‚ Stay warm and keep to the four Ps!
EmT – hope your headache is gone and congrats on the measurements going down…it’s all going in the right direction πŸ™‚
SJ – yes, the cupboard is bare and staying that way!! Hope you get accommodation sorted for Sydney to get the best out of the reunion xxxx
Up – it’s good not to be gaining and staying in the 63s. I hope I can get back to losing now that the aftermath of the wedding has died down. See you in the 62s soon I hope (wish!!!!)
Poor Doggy – you’re really not getting much of a break these days, are you? Your immune system seems to have taken quite a hammering. πŸ™ Patience and rest seem to be the order of the day and keeping warm too, of course. Lots of hugs to you (((( ))))
CG – you are so right; no matter where we are in this wol, we are still alot better than we were a year ago. So let’s keep on focussing on the basics – healthy choices, portion control, treats in moderation, fasting with determination (it’s just one day) and knowing that we are doing our bodies all sorts of good that we can’t even see. I love roast chicken and veg – so healthy and tasty…enjoy! How is Teagan now; is she up and about yet? I suppose she will have lots of physio too on the road to recovery. You will have lots of valuable advice for her at this stage.
Noots – sounds like you are doing a great job, keep up the good work.
PH – sorry to hear you’re in such pain. You have had alot on your plate recently, even if it’s nice things with visitors, family etc, it still takes it out of you. Rest up and hopefully, you’ll be feeling better soon.
I’m off now to do the weekly chores for my sister and I usually end up in a coffee shop with my other sister for a reward…..I’ll try not to be too naughty (who am I kidding? πŸ˜‰ ) Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Gyps – wherever you are, make fab memories and more stories to put in your memoirs…can’t wait to hear all about it! Xxxxxxxxxx

Hi all I had my weigh in even though it was only after a few days and one fast 900gms down I couldn’t believe it but after hopping on and off the scales yes ,mainly fluid I think as I have been drinking lots more water. But a really good encouraging start I need to retrain to not weigh everyday as I usually have done. Dogsabie my name choice is quite simple Tui was the name of my dog. A Tui is a very beautiful native bird in New Zealand ,black with a white tuft under the chin. (Also the name of a very popular beer as well ). I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend .if it’s fine I am off to croquet golf today with some gardening in between. ??

Brilliant loss, TM!! It’s hard not to weigh every day – I usually can’t resist but try to count just one day per week as the ‘official’ one for comparison purposes and monitoring progress. That way, I can keep an eye on things, but not get downhearted if I’m experiencing a few blips along the way. Keep up the good work! πŸ™‚

Good morning team, wow tui, what a great start for you, that in itself gives you encouragement to continue. Even if it’s fluid in the beginning, it’s still leaving your body as we do carry a lot of fluid. Enjoy your crocket ?
Your day sounds well planned Fit, finishing up in a coffee shop ? well deserved I bet.
Habits dye hard and I woke at 6:00 this morning, the one day I should be sleeping in, damn! So having my nice hot latte watching a doco on Foxtel. Nothing much planned for the day, just pottering at my leisure, two new plants to put in, salvias, very pretty and my drive way has heaps of deities suckers coming up so I’ll transplant them into the new garden bed across the front as the make a pretty wind brake as low hedging.
It’s lovely not to feel pressured to be somewhere or having to clock watch, which I rarely do these days other than for appointments. Fit, Tegan seems to be coming along slowly, still a lot of discomfort of course, the next six weeks will be slow, but a friend took the day off yesterday and had it with her, which was lovely, games, music, whatever teenagers do to fill time, and lots of laughter ? so she enjoyed it.. She is sleeping so much better, now at home in her own bed, my daughter is wonderful in looking after her, being on call, as she still need toileting and showering. Fortunately the are both placid in nature, although get frustrated at times, I’m sure they will manage.
Have a lovely day team, don’t be too hard on yourself, we have all seen how those who have blow outs seem to succeed better than being rigid with cals on normal days. Especially when they have been on holidays and thrown caution to the wind ☺️ so the “eat normally” does seem to pay off. Try to remember 5:2 is not a diet, it is our WOL, WOE and only part of our life not all of it, to be controlling our every thought. Portion Contrl does come naturally as our appite does shrink over time and we just can’t eat the amount we used to and we don’t seem to crave the junk food as often. I had some yummy dark chocolate last night, but it was the first I craved for in weeks ? so no guilts, I listened to my body, and really savoured it with delight. I hope you all have a pleasurable day doing just as you wish….xxxxxxx

Deities, the plants are, sorry, I misspelt it. They are very pretty, quite scrappy/strappy but a lovely flower which lasts and really brightens the garden. But they do sucker, but hay, plenty of free plants for the garden ? check them out on Google, some people call them butterfly bushes, but they are different..xxxxxx

Golly every site I look at spells them differently they are actually wild iris……..dietes
    grandiflora…….check them out ? xxxxx

Hi everyone, thanks for the concern re my pain. I really do think it is my arthritis playing up. Have a referral to an arthritis specialist to have some tests done to find out exactly why things are getting worse so will just have to try and act my age till then. Pain medication I have managed to reduce to is just not doing the job anymore but determined not to increase too much. I have my Endone to take when needed..will have a to use it I guess. My 6 monthly injection into my spine for back pain is also due but not wanting to get this until after specialist appt. ???
I have been doing what comes naturally to me…overdoing it and running around like I was young again. Can’t seem to get it into my head that I am unwell and can’t do all if this anymore will have to slow up or I’ll be back in one of these♿️♿️♿️..
I have also been very hungry..as CG said recently, I could eat the horse and chase the rider. I did Wed only eating 800 cals and then fasted Thurs. I guess I over did the fasting as well. So last night had spaghetti bolls with a nice serving of pasta and then coffee flag no added sugar yoghurt and an orange before going to bed early..slept like a log??????? and have just woken up feeling better.

Enough of the woe is me…not like me at all…so. On with happy thoughts.????

    Tui..What a great result..you must be chuffed!???????????
Would love to play croquet when I improve. Enjoy your day..

CG I too have some deities in my garden..they create a lovely show and are bomb proof..love the fact that they take no looking after. I’ll have to take a leaf out of your book and plan less for my days.. This weekend I am going to a two day course to learn to play bridge. I have been wanting to learn for a while and so at least won’t be running around…just using the grey matter and meeting some interesting people, it is being held at the Woolgoolga Bowling Club and so food and coffee on tap..followed by a nice scotch at the end of the day I guess..β˜•οΈβ˜•οΈ Might evenhave some ??.

Fit. How lovely to have your sisters so close and be able to support each other. You are very lucky and of course generous..

GG. Enjoy your weekend. It is overcast here today again so if that is the same down the road a bit you will need those leggings again??????..

Suejen and Doggy..I am at the other end of the spectrum in Myer. In the BIB..Big is Beautiful section…and aiming to get to the regular sizes.. whatever the size love the clothes and will be visiting one in Sydney..as well as DJs ..something we rarely get do until we go to the big smoke. Hoping by March to need some size 18’s or maybe even 16’s.???…never??

A big Hi to everyone else as I need to get moving and get ready to exercise the Grey Matter.. Planning on doing NOTHING fromTues till Friday except appointments and Exercise..in the hydro pool. ..??????

CG – delighted to hear that you’re having a day of doing nothing but suiting yourself for a change πŸ™‚ I also enjoy the feeling of having no ties, commitments or deadlines any more. Most days, I can totally do what I want, in whatever order I want and I never get tired of the feeling! Glad to hear Teagan is improving all the time and the company of peers will do her the world of good. Your garden sounds amazing…must google those flowers to see if I recognize them.
PH – arthritis is such a difficult condition to manage and treat; it seems to be different for everyone. I hope you get some answers soon and find what works for you. Glad you had a good night’s sleep, it can only do you good. I take my hat off to you learning how to play bridge, I think my brain would blow a fuse if I tried! I don’t think I’m generous at all; one of my sisters has dementia and another sister and I do some chores for her every week as well as organise her day to day care. Luckily there are other family members who help out too when they can; so the load is shared. Enjoy the pool but take it easy the rest of the time xx

Hi team, PH take your endone for the pain, that’s why you have them. They do work, I was on them after my surgery and slowly weaned off them but I’m still taking Lyrica for nerve pain in my leg. The aerobics stirs that up, but I won’t let it beat me. Definitely give yourself some me days, it’s lovely to socialise, but we ain’t Spring chickens any more, it’s getting the right mix. Non of us want to be in “”God’s little waiting room” so it’s a mix of socialising and resting ?and if hunger hits, listen to your body! Have a bigger piece of fish or chicken, whatever, extra salad goods, add some Beetroot or whatever. We are not here to starve, but don’t have to be silly in what we choose. Even a grain bread roll with a salad wouldn’t hurt, just something to get your teeth into.
Fit, yes the ME days are lovely, often wasted doing lots and getting nowhere, but not obliged to anyone or anything. ?
Well into a load of washing then into the garden, slowly…….xxxxxx

Weighing in day today. Down to 61.6 kg, a total loss of 1.8 kg since I started 5:2, about 3 weeks ago. Very happy with the slow downward pace of weight loss. This system really works for me.

Dear Purple Hats, I also suffer from arthritis, particularly in my thumbs. Went to see a hand specialist on Thursday and am now scheduled for a right thumb suspensionplasty on 25 November.I am very hopeful that this will give me a useful thumb and no more pain. Later on the left thumb will need to be fixed too, but as I am right handed, this is the best way to go. Six weeks in plaster, with hubby waiting on me, sounds worth it.

Morning All after a couple of beautiful days woke this morning to rain & grey skies. Our pair of resident galahs are snuggling up together outside on the patio waiting for OH to wake up & feed them. CG was planning on gardening too but we’ll see what the rain does….pretty light at this stage. And yes nothing in particular that I have to do/be/go and I really enjoy my Sat & Sun without 2 bus runs a day to interrupt what I’m doing.
PH take your meds & everyone is allowed a woe is me day every now & then. We’ve all had them on here! Don’t worry I too was squeezing into my size 18’s when I started – only because I refused to buy anything bigger! Now into 14’s & some 12’s even …..unheard of. But also sizes aren’t reliable so some new things I’ve bought are 16’s or L it just depends on the brand & the fit. But it’s silly isn’t it I really don’t like having those in my wardrobe!!
Ah CG & PH I just looked up your plant & we have them here too as most of our garden is natives. I just LOVE them – such beautiful intricate flowers. Interesting on looking them up that they’re classed as an environmental weed in WA & a potential one in NSW too! I guess because they’re so hard to kill & people dispose of them into bushland etc.
CG so glad to hear the news of Tegan’s progress. You won’t know her next time you see her maybe, standing so upright.
Tui congrats on your good loss….great way to start. Just what you need to keep you motivated.
Fit how exciting that the Tour will come close to your house!! We’ve had several trips to France & we watched the final stage in Paris one year & never miss it on the telly – have VERY late nights for 3 weeks & get rather tired, but can’t help ourselves.
GG you do such a good job with the 4P’s on 5:2. I’m afraid I’m more of a last minute girl or just that day even though I do cook a lot. Great to chat with you yesterday. XX
Well this post is long enough so Hi to anyone I’ve missed. Have a fab day all doing whatever you love from gardening to croquet to bridge & more! suejen XXXX

Hi All, Im still here, just been soooo busy to get on and post. As I think I said my 2 fast days last Tues & Wed went well. I have been so busy with work, cooking, organising a seniors Melbourne cup luncheon, visitors this weekend an hubby birthday on Sun that I haven’t a clue how my calorie intake has been. Ive had a bit of garbage but not too much, have found since my fasting days I’ve not been that hungry. Had visitors for dinner last night & had a bit of nibblies ( water crackers an cheese, fraid my downfall is cheese), but then couldn’t eat much of my roast lamb dinner & I didn’t have dessert. I was a bit worried bout not counting the calories on free days so couldn’t resist getting on scales when got up this morn ( see what damage i’d done), but was pleasantly surprised. My first weigh last Mon was 88.9 , & thismorn was 87.1. Im happy but not getting too excited as know it could be water loss. Taking visitors to Quindanning Tavern for lunch today, so will have grilled Barra as know their fish is delightful, and Sun off to Bunbury for the car show for hubbies b’day, so will have to make an effort not to eat garbage. Actually looking forward to my next fasting days, friad its going to have to be Tues/Wed again next week as have soo much on again. Let you know how my official weighin goes on Monday .

Hi everyone. Tuismum we do have something in common after all. My name Dogsabie is also for my beloved Golden Retriever that we had to have put down 10 months ago. He was Sabie and such a lovely animal. Now we have Pepper who is still a puppy and has a very different personality.
PH sorry about your pain. Arthritis is a BB and the reason for my knee ailments as well. Oh the joys of ageing , but when one thinks of the alternative I’m still happy to be here!
GG if you send me your name and address to gratjios@icloud.com I’d be happy to lend you a few fascinators. I’ve got a few. We used to have a Melbourne Cup Day do here at the local golf club but that’s fallen by the wayside. Hubby and I were actually invited to go by company he does some work for but I politely declined. I can’t be doing with those crowds these days. I love horses but am not interested in horse racing. Thanks too for your positive input. Yes any loss is worthwhile. I actually feel thinner than I did a few weeks ago although the scales say different. That gremlin in there no doubt.
I’ve just given my old iPad to hubby and using my new one. Is there any more stress on family harmony than one spouse teachig the other technical stuff? I’m more computer literate than he is although he won’t admit it.
Enjoy the day team. I’m making homemade meat pies for dinner. Not exactly slimming but very yummy.

    Hi All!
Nice and bright again here but there was alot of rain overnight and the temp has dropped a bit too. Have loads of housework on the agenda today, as I’ve been neglecting the place for the last week.
Noots – that’s a great loss; ‘slow and steady wins the race’ as we have all found and we know it is more sustainable too. Well done!
SJ – hope you’re having a lovely weekend and enjoying your ‘me’ time! I looked up the flowers too and see that they are wild iris…not sure if it’s the same as the irises we have here, but look much the same….they are absolutely beautiful. We will be making a new flower/shrub bed because we took down an old shed and need to fill the gap, so I will ask the gardener about planting some irises – then, when I see them, I’ll think of my AD pals πŸ™‚ Yes, the Tour will be very exciting. I haven’t been such a fan as you but enjoy the spectacle and of course, always look out for the Irish riders. Hopefully, I’ll be able to give you some first-hand eye-witness accounts next July πŸ™‚ And, we’ll have the added bonus of the my niece and family coming to join us, so it should be great fun!
Ali – great loss for you too, congrats! You also seem to be making some good choices and using portion control, so keep up the good work πŸ™‚
Doggy – I think one spouse teaching the other to drive is also a recipe for disaster; haven’t experienced it myself but have heard of others who tried it and the outcome was not pretty!!! πŸ˜‰ Enjoy the meat pies and have a lovely weekend xxx
CG – hope you’re getting out and about in your beautiful garden and enjoying all that nature has to offer πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
I really have to focus and be stricter about my cals on FDs and non FDs because all I’m doing lately is going up and down the same kg or two every week – very annoying! So, I’m giving myself a much needed kick in the a**, feel free to join in everybody!!! πŸ˜‰

HI folks I’ve had a chat on the phone with Purple Hat & problem solvered!! She & I are rooming together for the WTF Reunion. It makes it cheaper for both of us & I’ll be at the same venue as everyone else. So GG & CG you can stop worrying about me walking back to my hotel. GG I can just see you as a mother hen – in a nice way I mean totally! We have quite a bit in common – as we all do – so sure we’ll be the best of friends by the end of it!

That’s all guys apart from the fact that I’m eating far too much this weekend. I had to bake for several things & I tried a bit of everything….several times over!! It was all good!!! Still more lemons to make into more things tomorrow but think it might be lemonade. Talk more tomorrow. sj XX

Good morning team, lovely day coming up in country Victoria ? apparently going to be short lived before a change then the week heating up again. Again…fickle weather.
Suejen that’s awesome, good news for you both, what a cosy little group we will be ?
Fit, totally agree about being strict. I was talking to the girls on another forum about my continuing plateau. They suggest I lower my cals on fast days to be an actual .25 of my TDEE, which makes sense doesn’t it? But also to try to eat close to my TDEE rather than far below it. All giving the feast / famine effect which 5:2 is supposed to be. I have found often my fast days are often only close to half what I eat on feast days. Basically, I don’t really feast! I know we have discussed this before, and usually decide dropping much lower than 500 seems pretty hard, but it has worked for them.
So tomorrow, Monday, our fast day, that’s what I’m going to start doing. As we know, the original plan is eating .25 of our TDEE on fast days and haven’t been doing it.
It will be like starting over again, hay, a fresh start, but something has to give….especially with me, I have plateaued since April! ? I know I will find on my normal days eating more cals could be a challenge too, but this is AUSSIE DETERMINATION and I’ll give it my best, so BRING IT ON, I CAN DO IT ?
Enjoy your day team, I hope our sickies are having a better day, things will get better for you. I’m going to potter in my garden this morning, then possibly iron in front of a movie once the sun gets too hot to be out in. Have a happy day team, plan for tomorrow’s fast so you don’t get caught out, it’s only one day ? and WE CAN DO IT …xxxxxxx

Hi CG, I usually do 25% of TDEE, but I do find if I go to 500 it seems so much easier – my solution is to do the odd liquid only day – time slows down but you can get through it. Even found the liquid days easier with the odd cup of tea and especially if I have some stock I make from the chicken carcass – just .clear liquid but it does taste good. Gets me to about 80 or 100 calories. Just one fast like this a week though!

Another tip I have always followed is to work on TDEE of target weight – my final target was too low, bloody scary – so I do the TDEE a stone under what I weigh, and reduce the amount every half stone. So at the moment I am eating for my future 10 stone weight (positive thinking eh? – it might be a long time into the future!)

Morning Milena, all true, in fact never knew where the 2000 average came from, I don’t know anyone eating that high here? The 500 is just round figures. I too was trying to get down to “future” fast day cals, but again, became complacent, got too hard, happy where I was…….but not now! I have certainly dropped my appetite, and don’t seem to nibble as I did in the past, just don’t need it, but do have a bit of dark chocolate occasionally, but then again, not nightly as was my habit. Just time to reassess I think, take stock, and start over again. 75k isn’t a bad starting weight this time, after my first start of 99.5k so hoping this is the easier journey from experience, well hoping ? anyway…xxxxx

Morning Team!.Just going to do the shopping for the week so the planning begins.
Milena- I am going to do a liquid fast tomorrow and see if kicks starts my plateau into disappearing.
SJ- So happy that you and PH arranged to share. That is 6 of us Determinators in the same abode………OH! what a time it will be.
Lovely sunny days on the coast ….gently breeze with a slight chill.
Hoping you have a relaxing Sunday.

BRING IT ON this week of our WOL and WOE……GO GAL xxxxxxx

    Hi all, internet problems again!!!

All Ok but I suffer from anxiety and am a bit unwell at the moment. The only good thing is it means I eat less. Will check back in when feeling better. Have a good Sunday all.

Hi Up, sorry to hear you are having an off day. Not many people get away without the same problem, it may manifest itself differently but it does effect most of us, me included. Deep breath, soldier on and try to think positive, better stlii, think..what is the worst that can happen? That often brings me back to reality ☺️ xxxxxx

GG if anyone can do a water/liquid fast, it will be you, you are so strong with the B2B, so good luck my friend ? xxxxxx

Thanks, CG, you are right. I am afraid that it has ruled my life for most of my adult life but fortunately my disorder is managed these days through improved treatments. Sometimes it escapes, but all will be well in the end.
In my 20’s I often looked thin, a sure sign that I was very unwell. Half the battle is not hiding it and trying to pretend to be perfect. Anyway, anxiety is a whole other thread.
These days if I am looking good it is thanks to 5/2!

Up, that is our biggest problem, we are so self critical we yearn for perfection, and never see ourselves as other do. I understand exactly…chin up, it does pass…xxxxxx

Hi all. Lots of interesting reading again. Up I empathise re your anxiety. It plagues me too. It’s often associated with high achievers I’ve been told. Have you tried meditation/ hypnosis at all? There are lots of sites on the net where one can download an app. I use it everyday and find it very therapeutic.
CG I’m interested in your bit the about plateau and breaking it. Please keep us up to speed with how you go.
Not much dieting here today. We’ve just got back from a lovely fish and chips lunch with glass of Sav Blanc.
FD again tomorrow. I don’t ever look forward to them but do them all the same. No pain no gain – or in our case no weight loss.

UP- keep your chin up! Anxiety ,is such a debilitating emotion…..It can rule our lives so much with its symptoms of “Impending doom “. It is all well for others to say learn “To live with it”but when it hits it hits hard and is very real for the sufferer until it decides to subside. Do your deep breathing slowly and calmly ( use that paper bag if needed). thinking of you xxxxxx

Have prepared my juices for tomorrow 1litre of carrot, celery, kale, ginger and apple juice all fresh plus an assortment of lovely teas…orange & cinnomman, peppermint and friend and constant companion good ole H20.
will have grilled salmon and mixed green salad for dinner at night.
I am doing this as an experiment it may work to kick start the end of this 6 week plateau…will see
Stay happy team, in whatever you are doing this week. Nothing is impossible to achieve. Don’t hold back……let it happen……GO GAL xxx
