  • Dag you really did have me guessing re Hong carb foods! Yes come summer I’m sure we’ll all find it a lot easier to lose. Anyone who’s having success over winter maybe you can give us some tips?
Serena a big welcome to you. And goodie I have someone else who understands my obsession with the scales! At least I don’t let them control me or get me down any more but I do still weigh almost every day.
Taco don’t worry mine was the same 800gr after my peep into the 69’s! And yes a few foods that I indulged in too. Excess salt in high processed foods usually makes me retain fluid & I did have a tasteless scroll thingy from Brumby’s that I won’t be tempted into buying again. Waste of calories & not enjoyable. Funny used to love them before 5:2.
60th party last night was lovely, lots of interesting conversations with old & new friends. Yes plenty of food but didn’t indulge too much & only a couple of wines so not too bad after all.
Hi CG hope you’re lurking & I’d second Milena’s comment – even if you only post once a week or something to let us know you’re OK. Just a short I’m doing OK or whatever would be great. And if it’s any improvement definitely let us know!! Hope you’re having a better day with less pain & enjoying the sport on the telly.

Well onto a lovely Saturday which was meant to be rainy…..maybe later. For now it’s a bit of gardening. Oh our 7th grandchild is on the way in San Francisco. Labour started today (their 3rd) so waiting for the big news. Amazing how births are different these days with technology. Both son & DIL have their mobile phones either in their hands/next to the bed & pick up every text mssge or email or facebook comment; and they keep everyone updated with comments on FB. I had to laugh with birth no 1 that we were present for. Son was being so good & supportive & rubbing her back etc but behind his back he had his phone & every now & then he’d peep & check for updates! It was so incredible to watch. It was good for DIL too though cos he’d say Oh friend X says Get on & do the job or friend Y says they’re all thinking of you etc. So so different to the isolated experience that I remember. OH slept through the birth of no 2 in the middle of the night (he’d been sent home/nothing happening) and no 3 he was banging on the delivery room door but they were too busy to hear him. I suspect they were too busy having bets on the weight of what the dr had guessed to be a 10lb baby, but wasn’t quite. They all left me straight after the birth & took her to the scales! And then OH got let in.
Have a great weekend all and those who’ve read the link to the article I posted – think about what your body would post about your healthy behaviours/or not today! If you haven’t read it scroll back & have a look. Worth thinking about over a weekend when we tend to indulge either a bit (which is fine) or a whole lot! suejen XXXX

SJ so much for the rain here too (Perth) grey skies but nothing happening.
Taco sure to be mostly fluid … not game to get on the scales yet with OH on holidays, may even wait til end of next week.
Not enjoying my Saturday, first time trying to do a FD on a weekend and it feels all WRONG. At least I felt mean enough to clean out the fridge!
Feeling rather fragile, actually got around to buying a Cheval mirror for our walk in robe. Ever since we did the ensuite reno the new mirror is so high that I have to jump to see past my midriff. NOT a good look!!! Ended up draping a large scarf strategically over most of the mirror last night – couldn’t stand the sight!!!! LOL, that’ll teach me to take more notice of my reflection in plate glass windows etc. At least it was motivating to keep going today.
Lotus, Milena, GG, Up, Dawg and especially CG hope your Saturday is good and newbies, welcome. Gyps where are you? Everything ok? YY xx

Suejen interesting article, thanks. Felt like quite a few of the first section a couple of times this last week. YY

Hi All everyone is MIA again – all enjoying a busy weekend no doubt. I’ve had a pretty good day. OH said he’d been missing salads (I don’t in winter) but that encouraged me to have some chicken lettuce roll-up affairs for lunch that were very nice, but I had the chicken hot/warm. For dinner we have a beef stew with pumpkin. When I went shopping I felt like a treat but a mindful treat, mind you. So I examined all the wrappers and eventually selected the Mint Pattie small & pretty lo-cal. Had one slice of bread today & hoping to keep it at that. So I’ve been a lot more mindful in my choices. Also determined to have just the one glass of wine with my dinner. Let’s see how we go.

I hope my body would be saying (in line with my post) “Yes she’s looking after me today. No mindless eating or grabbing at the supermarket and stuffing her face (not like usual anyway!). And she parked right at the very end to get a little exercise too. Plus a nutritious dinner with vegies coming up. She treats me well.” I HOPE it will be saying the same to me at the end of the night!! What would your body be posting about your day?
I find it quite motivating to think about. Try it!! Hi to GG Milena YY Serena CG Gyps (where r u dear?) Lotus UT Dawg Taco & anyone I’ve missed. suejen XXX

Hello everyone, I am Northern Rivers girl and I started today. My mum died of cancer in the UK after a 17 week battle, I gained 16 kilos over the course of the time from pure panic being so far away and then eventually being in the UK for the last 4 weeks eating ‘anything’ they had at the hospital or hospice. Mum wouldn’t have wanted me to be sad and overweight so here I am, I need to shift my attitude and got from 80kgs to 64. Any help you can offer would be welcome xxx

Also would love to hear your stories too…

Hi missyloo, your up in the middle of the night as am I. I’m sorry to hear of your sad news, and this is why a lot of us joined 5:2. Our diet was misconscrewed due to lifes issues and upsets. You have joined a wonderful team at AUSSIE DETERMINATION, each and every member will help you on this wonderful journey. 5:2 is very easy and doable and you will make some terrific friends on our thread. For past stories, read back through our thread, we have all had incredible weight losses (I lost 24k) and health improvements since joining. Questions will arise during your journey so ask and one of our team will assist you. Check out our recipe thread too for ideas. The team usually fast on Mondays and Thursdays and weigh in Fridays, the weigh in is to keep you honest and share your highs and lows. Check your TDEE in the how to section at the top of this page so you know your limits for NFD (non fast days) it all helps πŸ™‚
Welcome aboard, I’m off on “sick” leave at the moment, but the rest of the team will back you all the way. CG xxxx

    Hi all. Welcome Missy.

I am up early today for some reason. Strange because I had a late night, Xmas in July. Needless to say, I ate far too much last night but it was worth it! I don’t think my body can speak this morning SJ!

I have had to deal with far more cold weather than usual this year but managed to keep on track most of the time. I really just tried to eat pretty much the same way all year round. If I went out for lunch in the U.S, which seemed to happen quite a bit, I could never make myself order a salad but filling soups seemed to be easily found there, so I did that. I found I could eat salads with dinner at home okay but with hot meat etc. I eat low carb so generally avoided having anything like that in the house. Healthy casseroles, chili, bolognaise with pumpkin instead of pasta, curry on cauliflower rice all seemed to hit the spot.

Now we are in this cold snap in Brisbane, I am doing the same. Yesterday, when I felt like something but wasn’t sure what, I realised that I don’t have anything tempting or stodgy in the house anymore. So I think I ate a few nuts and a spoonful of cottage cheese and walked dejectedly away! I survived!

SJ, good to see you keeping the thread alive while everybody is MIA!

Hi CG, remember Im always around in the middle of your night, if you fsncy s chat or just want to know someone is reading your post. Keep taking those baby steps, remember that body of your is brilliant at healing, but it takes time. Google my old faves the Bach Flower remedies – might help!

Hi Missy, good to see you on here, I’m the oddball, English living in Scotland, been racking my brains to find a connection to these lovely prople, but other than I feel comfy around them, hubby has a cousin or two living in Oz, and I think Simon Baker and Hugh Jackman are gorgeous – you might find it hard to call them even tenuous links, but this thread is a nice place to be.

Better go now its midnight and Im up at 4.45 to stand at an antique fair in Newcastle – will think of you all as I go over that mini Sydney harbour bridge, the Tyne Bridge.

Hi Suejen, we have salads in Summer and Winter, then again its just as cold in Summer, so we have porridge, stews and soup all year round! I refuse go eat Strawberries out of season though! And this looks like another year the barbie hasn’t been out! Sigh!

Hi Up, Im really surprised to here about the bad weather and cold you are having. I knew some places in Oz are very hot, but never realised you got cold. Then again I imagine you all think it rains alot in Scotland, whereas the reality is it rains even more than you might imagine -lol!!!

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!!!

Well, I seemed to have unsubscribe myself but have fixed it now. Milena, it depends where you live I guess. It is a big country but the whole east coast is having a cold snap right now!

Funny about the rain! Always looks lovely and green over there though!

A lot of americans eat salad year round too. We found people regularly start a meal with a salad followed by the rest of the meal which is a very healthy habit to have. I found it hard at first and never really did it when out unless I was with others!

Hello everyone. Welcome Missy. I’m sure you will find that we are a supportive lot and often share our ups and downs, not always to do with weight loss either.
I’ve mentioned this in the past but thought it might help those of us with a bit of the winter blues. I have a bread maker and make my own bread. This morning I carried 5 kilo bag of flour upstairs from the garage. It was very bulky, large and heavy. Now that is only half of the amount of weight I, plus many of you have lost. In my case in seven months. So team this way of eating and way of life does work. Stay positive and just remember it does not always show. Lots of the fat we lose comes from inside the abdominal cavity round our organs. That is very harmful. So we are Aussie Determination and doing so very well. Keep up the good work.
    X Dawg

Trying to catch up on posts, then back to work! Lol.
Lotus – congratulations , you are off the meds and 10 cm off the waist, that is fantastic! Vodka and lemon? I might try it, I am assuming it has less calories than a nice glass of red:)
Suejen- I read you are a size 12 to 14, that is great , I also noticed that you do 2hour walks, I couldn’t do that, I’d have to call a taxi or helicopter to rescue me -depending on the terrain. Lol

Milena, congratulations on your loss since starting 5 2, I’m a bit of a yo yo at the moment too but I’ll persevere! I hope everything goes well for you and your family, that your son’s operation goes well and that your mother-in-law behaves πŸ™‚ I’m sorry to hear about your cat, it’s so awful and sad when our pets are unwell, they are our family members. You are a wonderful person and very kind to care for her like you do. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well.

Me again. I’ve just been reading the posts again. Milena I didn’t know you were from Scotland. May I ask whereabouts? I ask because both hubby and I have Scottish ancestry. We’ve been there a few times and loved it. Mind you that was summer time. I can also relate to your MIL. I had a horrible one. But she’s no longer with us. I too could write a book but she was not worth a mention as none of it was amusing.
Interesting topic re labour wards Sujen. I’m a qualified midwife but have not practised for years. In my day the husbands were not allowed in the delivery rooms. I know I’m old fashioned but if I had my time over again I still would not want anyone but the midwife or obstetrician to be at the business end at the birth of my babies.. it is just not a a pretty sight but wonderful when both baby and mum do well.
Enjoy the day team and CG hang in there.

I’m finding it difficult to catch up πŸ™ I’m getting all confused.

CG- I read through your posts and I’m sad to hear that you are still in pain and that you are feeling down because of some nasty kilos that are hanging around. The meds will bloat you and you will retain water, also the lack of movement will aid that retention. As days go by you will start to feel less pain , however, there will be zig zags along the way! Pain is like weight loss, it spikes , then drops! Pain we control with meds, weight we contro with 5 2 , both zigzag, plateau and eventually move. Hang in there CG, we all need your determination and because 5 2 is a way of life, if you cannot do it one day because of illness, party or stress , you jump back on the horse the following week. I noticed that on the 15/07 you felt that ‘you were flying solo’ but if it wasn’t for you, the forum would not be the same. Feel free to post about anything, we are all here to support each other in this WOL- it’s a journey, it will have ups and downs, if we do not discuss our downs we will fail! That is why I have failed so many times before, that is why I am so huge! But not this time. So please post CG, …anyway, how are the boys?

Dawg- thanks for mentioning that the fat that melts from around our organs, yuk! I did not think of that. Maybe that is why even when nothing comes off the scales, we still notice that our body shape is changing, we do shrink, the cm come off!

Milena, I love going to antique fairs and even markets, there are treasures to be found from time to time. We have an antique fair in Glebe, it’s great fun, I usually go with a friend very early in the morning and I see a lot of people take thermos filled with soups etc.

I have been having stock cubes in large mugs on my skinny days. They are only around 6 calories. I have miso soup and hard boiled eggs. We have had a very cold winter and the stock cubes help me πŸ™‚

    Missy and Serena, welcome πŸ™‚

Hi Up, not having junk food at home helps. I have found that I mindlessly open the pantry door to see if there is anything quick and easy that does not require preparation …I’m glad when there’s nothing there πŸ™‚

Yum Yum- I hope your fast went well yesterday. I know what you mean about the mirror, but it is mainly our own negative perceptions of ourselves. The reason I say this , is because I see girls that are bigger than me and they look fantastic! It seems they know how to carry themselves, they are elegant , beautiful and confident; whereas I’m like a huge lump in a dress and heels. Lol. I have lost under 5 kilos and it’s made a huge difference to my body shape and the pain in my knee, just hang in there Yum, we’ll all get there eventually. Think of how much better our bodies are on the inside πŸ™‚ I have also lost that constant feeling of being tired and exhausted 24/7. Now I only get tired like any other healthy person, yet I still have so many more kilos to go.

GG – you are in my prayers πŸ™‚
    Gypsy, hope all is ok.
CG – hope today is better πŸ™‚

To everyone-Have a lovely Sunday afternoon and stay warm. To those fasting tomorrow , prepare what you will be having and those of you who need to break the fast or are unwell, just make healthy choices and don’t be harsh on yourself. Remember, Thursday is another fast day. This is a long term solution and not a quick fix, it’s a healthy way of life,
    See you all soon πŸ™‚
    Xx

Taco – thanks, did ok with fast yesterday. Kept to what I know to be tried and true. Came in at about 480 cals. It just felt different being Saturday.
Would like to be able to stretch to being elegant, such a lovely word that brings on visions of height. Unfortunately I’m vertically challenged at just 5 ft. so can look very dumpy in unkind mirrors and shop windows. This means that 2k’s extra really show whereas someone taller manages to carry that. Not moaning, just explaining πŸ™‚ only got a few k’s to go now so am determined to hang in. Look forward to hanging in there with you too!

Have a lovely Sunday arvo everyone. Hope your pain levels improve heaps CG and we love hearing a word or two from you (()) hugs. YY xx

    Well done Yumyum

weekend fasting always seems odd to me too – and I dont even have a change of schedule, I can do 4:3 ok, as long as I keep Monday snd Thursday days intact.

Tacofox, I love rummaging at the fairs, my favorite is one we go to in
Copenhagen, just booked the next one on October – its a hard job but someone has to do it.

Im just outside Edinburgh, beautiful country and yes, very green, the lack of sun means we really appreciate it when it comes, though this summer has been a bit if a disappointment. Still posponing holiday to France and Italy waiting for a date for son’s op, bright side is we this is third fair in 8 days, doing them for holiday money, hopefully we will have most of it by the end of the day, and theres a chance of losing a stone before we go. Always a bright side. Without clouds there would be no silver linings.

Driving through the rain, almost at the border, so beautiful it makes you want to count all your blessings. Certainly lifts the spirits, dreich as the day is.

    Enjoy your day everyone .

Hi Missyloo I gather that’s northern NSW. I started at 82.4kg and am now at 69.7 so yes you CAN do it, and our goal is the same. So hang in here & you’ll do fine. And we do share lots of other stuff too, which makes it more interesting.
UT I need to take a leaf out of your book and adapt a bit more. I mean mashed pumpkin or similar under chilli sounds fine, & I have yet to try cauli rice but need to. I think sometimes I just stubbornly stick to what I know. So yes I can have my comforting stews or casseroles but adapt what I serve them with rather than calorie laden pasta or rice or bread. Promise to try this week.
UT you also mentioned americans starting the meal with a salad. When we first met my DIL over here I cooked a special meal of a very fancy lasagne made from scratch with lots of steps to it. It was delicious but……the first thing my prospective DIL asked was ….Excuse me, where is the salad? There wasn’t any whoops! She always hoes into a salad with her meal or as a meal, just leaves by the plateful. No wonder she’s so slim.
Milena you wouldn’t believe the weather we’re having today. To me it seems like what Scotland would be having! It’s miserable & I’m going to retreat & read a book, then watch sport on TV with a hot drink. Your fairs sound like a great way to raise your needed funds…very early mornings though!
Wow Dawg your 5 kilos X 2 is a great reminder of what we’ve achieved with 5:2.
Taco my 2 hour walk was not such a good idea as we’re going to Vietnam in less than 2 weeks, & I’ve pulled something in my leg/hip and have a not very nice pain shooting down my leg. Did far too much climbing I fear. Hope to get it sorted before we go as we always walk pretty much everywhere.
Taco & Up so agree re nothing tempting in the pantry. When I’m craving I wander in there, turn the light on, look around, & usually walk out again a bit dejected – maybe like you Up with just 2 or 3 nuts in my hand. But you get over it.
YY glad you made it even on a Saturday – that would be hard. I’m only 5’2 1/2” (don’t forget the half mind you!!) so not much taller – may be even less these days!

Going to retreat to my book now. Have gone back to an oldie of Kate Morton’s The Distant Hours – love re-reading favourites. Have a great weekend all.
Whoops forgot to tell you my exciting news. Our new grand-daughter was born in San Francisco during the night. Her name is Madeline & we skyped with her & my son & DIL this morning. She is just beautiful of course. They have 3 girls now & that’s grandchild no 7. I had a glass of champagne to celebrate.
Have a good day all and remember your 4 P’s: plan, prepare, persistence and patience. Each one is equally important in our journey. suejen XXXX
CG thinking of you and your journey to recovery. Baby steps!

Ah I am in Bath at the moment, UK, as thats where my in laws have been and its summer here so no winter blues, the weather has been nice. I am here til the 10th August before I return home. Good to know that you weigh in Fridays, I will also do that, Monday and Thursday fasts, why not. I wont do it tomorrow as I am going away to Babbington House for mums birthday (well we were supposed to go and she would have been 65 but died 2 weeks ago sadly)so we go in her honour.

Look forward to catching up with everyone thanks for welcomes and advice. I did a little walk today as well, so am pretty on target. I am also gluten free (coeliac) and low GI to keep those hashimoto antibodies down.

    Cheers
    Missy x

Suejen- Sorry to hear that you have a nasty pain πŸ™ , I am sure it will disappear before your Vietnam trip. It’s most probably a straingned muscle πŸ™ congratulations on your new family addition, she sounds beautiful and champagne is a must to celebrate πŸ™‚

Yum yum – glad to hear that you were successful on Saturday:)
CG – hope you are well soon and that in the meantime, you keep on top of those painkillers. To the rest of our lovely team- prepare yourself for tomorrow’s fast. I will sign off now as I must try to make myself beautiful for tomorrow and get ready for a celebratory dinner – good family news πŸ™‚

Congrats, SJ. And a lovely name they have chosen!

Team – apologies for being AWOL, had a really busy weekend (and Friday!). Spent quality time my little sewing machine (it’s a really tiny hobby one, that does not stitch anything heavy…), taking in pants and tops  . I discovered that stitching the inside leg (in-seam) in pants seems to really shape the trousers better, rather than just the waist, that leaves the rest of the pant weirdly baggy. Also, taking it inseam hides any stitching faults, whereas stitching on the outside leg… let’s just say I can’t sew a straight line! Having a β€œshopping fast” for the next three months and not buying any new clothes or shoes, so the alterations…
Taco – thanks for the congrats . Vodka with a Lemon wedge is lesser cal at 45 calories, and red wine 165. More importantly, less sugars in it, so better for lowering insulin levels (apparently lowering insulin should be the aim for anybody trying to lose weight, as insulin is a β€œfat retaining” hormone, as is increasing Thyroid levels). I really loved all your posts, had a ball reading them.
Hi Milena – hope you had fun fossicking in the antique fairs.
SJ – congratulations on your lovely little grand-daughter! πŸ™‚ How wonderful to have grandbaby 7 arrive! Hope your hip pull/stitch gets better in time for your holiday. Regarding weigh-ins (from your Saturday post?) – I stayed on the stable weight of 72.9 kgs, fourth week now. And your link to the β€œBodybook” post was so funny, and so, so true!! Thanks for that!
Upt – looks like your body is telling you rest a little bit lol
Serena, Missyloo – Welcome on board πŸ™‚
YY – hats off for fasting on Saturday πŸ™‚
CG – hope you are healing well. You are in our thoughts. Take care of yourself…
GO Aussie Determination!!! We have feasted, now we will fast, for health, and body image (Body says – she loves me, she really does, she’s giving me a break from all the digestion work!!). Lots of water and fluids as although we may not feel thirsty in cooler weather, we still lose lots of water. Btw, one cause of fluid retention is when we drink too less water; our bodies will then retain it in.

Greetings team. CG don’t know if you are up to reading our posts but we are thinking of you and wish you a speedy recovery. SJ congrats on the latest grandchild. Lotus once again some wise words from you, I defiantly do not drink enough fluids, especially water during the winter. I’m going to make a concerted effort to drink a lot more. Perhaps putting a glass out on the kitchen bench top to remind myself.
SJ I like Kate Morton too. Have you read The secret Keeper? I enjoyed it very much.
Another FD here too. I had Malaysian Laksa soup for brekkie. It’s 178 calories and easy. Probably hard boiled eggs for lunch and then Miso soup with shiitake noodles for dinner. The odd cuppa Jarrah hot chocolate just pushes me slightly over the 500 calories but I feel I need it when it’s so cold.
Milena, Edinburgh is a beautiful city. Some years ago we stayed at a B & B at Linlithgow. It’s also lovely and is what decided us to move to the seaside. We were overlooking the beautiful lake. If I’m not mistaken there is an ancient ruined castle there with some reference to Mary Queen of Scotts.
Enjoy the day team and yes we can do it.
    XX Dawg

Morning Team ready for a fast day (most if not all of us)? Are you prepped and ready to go, worked out your cals/meals so the tally at the end of the day doesn’t take you by surprise. Nothing worse than thinking you had a good day only to find Uh oh……that was more cals than I thought! Good point Lotus re fluid retention & drinking less – I’m a terror for not drinking in the winter so like you Dawg might put a glass out on the bench. Give OH something to do saying What’s this glass here for all day, you never drink it?!
Body says – she loves me, she really does, she’s giving me a break from all the digestion work!! Lotus what great words to keep us fasting till bedtime.
Yes CG is lurking and reading all your posts so do keep on encouraging & sending hugs. She needs all she can get at the moment.
Thanks for the congrats re our new grand-daughter…very special tho so far away.
Missyloo hope you enjoyed your very special lunch/dinner in honour of your mum. Feel free to swap days whenever you need to, that’s what we love about 5:2.
Have a great fast day team, you KNOW you can do it, you’ve got this. Despite winter or other setbacks we can still stick to our tried and trusted routine. We all have different routines but they work for us & we can trust them. If the scales are not cooperating remember our last 2 P’s: patience & persistence. suejen XXXX

Hi all! I’m a sydney 5:2-er – have done 5’2 last year going from 67kg to 63kg and after an indulgent Europe holiday I’m back upto 68kg! (No regrets, the food was amazing!) 2 successful fasts last week, currently fasting today and will weigh in after my 2nd fast this week!

Hi c-vann, this is my second fast too, only I’m new too the 5:2 diet. I’ve never really followed a diet before mostly because none of them seemed practical but this one I’m liking. – That said its really cold today and I would just about KILL for a large hot chocolate about now! πŸ™

    Welcome SarahMck and C-vann!
SarahM – the Jarrah hot choc is supposed to be only 30 cals or so (if you don’t add milk but stick to hot water) and 70? if you add skimmed milk. I am not fond of hot choc so not added the calories but others have tried this a low-cal sub for the regular hot choc.

Oh SJ – what a nice saying! I should get that printed on all my dinner plates and cups!! LOL

Thanks Lotus! I’ve seen it in the shops but never tried it, perhaps I better invest in some. I drank instead sparkling water today with a tiny bit of cordial in it and that really stopped my sweet tooth cravings at bay and only cost me 4 calories πŸ™‚

Good thinking Sarah! Well done πŸ™‚ More calories for your main meals then, if you are having them

Hi c_vann and sarah welcome to the aussie determination forum. You’ll find us all a very welcoming and encouraging lot, and we share tips and tricks and what works for us. The Jarrah hot choc is 45 cals made as directed Sarah with 1 cup hot water. Yummy as! I already have one in MFP My Fitness Pal for this evening to curb the sweet cravings. That’s where a lot of us count calories – not all of us every day but certainly fast days FD’s we do. And for other days you need to calculate your TDEE to get your cals allowed – just put TDEE in the search bar at the top to work this out. Not everyone sticks to this, some just eat mindfully on non-fast days and watch portion control. We mostly fast Monday & Thursday & weigh in on a Friday.
Hope you’ve all had a good fast day & have managed despite the weather – it’s bitterly cold here today. Just hang in there a bit longer & your head can hit the pillow with a happy sigh – you MADE it!! And your body will thank you for it. And tomorrow you can have some of that food you were craving for. suejen XXX

You may well ask “Where is the salad?”…. I had it for my dinner tonight!.
    Welcome to new members!.
SJ- You are keeping the thread alive! Congrats on the new family arrival.
My FD went very well, have come in well under 500cals , surprising ,as when working I am usually very hungry by 3pm … but not today.
Hope you all had a Positive day…..cannot wait to feast over the next 2 days, I’m really hanging out for my brewed bought coffee tomorrow.
Wishing you all warm snuggle thoughts ……..GO GAL XXXXXX

    Hi everyone,

Suejen – your post this morning was fantastic! Thank you πŸ™‚ CG – hope you are on the mend πŸ™‚ welcome to our newbies πŸ™‚ I have managed ok today, I am at 419 calories I will be going to bed soon as I am scared of falling into temptation πŸ™‚
I had the following today :

    2 vegetable stock cubes-24 calories,

Smoked salmon, 50 grams -103 calories
    Hard boiled egg- 70 calories
    Lite cottage cheese (.5.cup) – 80 calories

I hope my post helps others πŸ™‚ I might have a strawberry and a cup of tea soon.
    Goodnight all πŸ™‚

Hi Serena, I hope you are right and I’m just retaining water weight πŸ™‚

At least that is the case with me Tacofox, not everyone the same though. I have had a busy weekend and looking forward to my fast tomorrow.

GG I love the sound of warm snuggle thoughts! Sounds so nice and warm and cosy. Taco I just don’t know how some of you end up at like 419 cals. I’m always either just under 500 or just over, like today was 511. Now if I didn’t have my Jarrah hot choc I’d be under but it’s the one thing that stops me from heading to raisin toast, or chocolate or bread. Yeah I’m a carb girl I know! So I settle with 511 and I’m cool with that. You do what works as we all do. Better than me stuffing my face at 10pm+. Watching the Tour De France has been hard as we’re up till 11.30-12 every night but I’ve managed so far with herbal teas. Anyone else watching?
Had Classic Chilli for dinner tonight with the Slendier Rice (10 cals). It’s a bit squishy but I don’t mind it. OH did say the rice was a bit soggy but he ate it & what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him!
And GG you’re right …..onto Feed or Feast Days tomorrow. What are we all looking forward to? Oh the beauty of 5:2 eh, being able to have a break!! Night all suejen XX
CG hope you have a good night & snuggle up with those dogs of yours. XX

Hi Suejen, the day’s not over yet πŸ™‚ I am still up marking and and may need to go to bed, I don’t want to stuff up so late in the day! I meant night. PS sorry if I’m being selfish with my posting, work has been busy or I’m not as efficient as I need to be – one of the two , lol πŸ™‚ but I do think of you all and read your posts πŸ™‚

No no Taco you have done so well today. Stick to your plan & have the strawberry & a cup of tea! You’ll thank yourself tomorrow. XX hang in there girl
PS I well remember the late night marking LOL that’s why all 3 of my kids said No we’d never become teachers.

    Hi All!
It’s so good to be finally able to log on here again and to post. The internet coverage here in Normandy is very poor and slow. It has taken over 30 mins to load this one page and to send my post. I’m way behind on all the news but will try to catch up bit by bit. You have been in my thoughts and I hope ye haven’t forgotten me either!
Just a message or two for now on the main news I have managed to read:
SJ – so delighted to hear about your beautiful new granddaughter. Hope your injury clears up in time for Vietnam.
CG – it sounds like you are struggling at the moment and I am sorry to hear that because you have been a true rock of support to me and I hope you realise how much you have helped others here and made a huge difference to the success of so many people on this thread. Please hang in there and don’t stress about things; life will come right again in its own time. XXXX Big hugs to you (())
GG – I often think of you and your dad. Hope all is as well as it can be for you and yours xx.
Gypsy – Bette Midler was amazing! She looked fantastic (probably some botox to thank for that!). But she also has a great figure and fabulous legs for 69 years of age and could strut her stuff around the stage and get up and down from the floor, no bother!!! Her voice is as good as ever and she sang lots of her old favourites as well as some newer songs. It was a brilliant night!
Up, Lotus, Taco, YY – loved reading all your posts and I hope to catch up properly with ye in future posts.
Welcome to all the newbies and if you stick with this gang, you won’t go far wrong!
Take care, everyone, and I hope I can catch up with all you wonderful ADers again soon xxxxxx

Oops! How rude of me to forget to say hello to Milena and Dawg too…..please put it down to holiday brain and the stress of trying to post at all with this ridiculously slow internet! Hope all going well with both of you!

Good morning team, thank you all for your kind wishes and messages. I still don’t miss a day of reading even though I haven’t been posting. I refuse to be a misery because of what I’m going through. I am still so positive I made the right choice to have this op, and as it seems I’ve swapped one pain for another, what I have is “healing” pain and each day I improve on the day before.
The activity on here has been fantastic, keep it up team, we need each other and the reassurance “WE ARE NOT ALONE” I realise our topics stray from the original but hay, we are under the banner of encourage and support and that’s what mates do. We all have personal reasons which caused our weight gain, usually over years, and. 5:2 is really taking care of that. As a team, we take care of the issues which caused it. Sometimes, it’s just straight out lonliness which causes the over eating or incorrect choices as in junk food. With the kinship and support, education and tips we share here, not only are we losing the k’s but eating healthier, feeling healthier, looking so much better, raising the confidence in each other, and generally have a whole new respect for life. πŸ™‚ We all have so much to look forward too, this coming summer will be easier to handle as we will be carrying so much less fat around in the heat. Oh, and think of those outfits you will look so stunning in, not game to wear in the past, this year you will πŸ™‚
I did a semi fast yesterday, came in around 800 cals, and as we all know, it’s the silly things which push us over our goal, just a bikkie with our coffee, that extra daub of sour cream, etc etc, but with the training we get here, we are all so conscious of what goes in the gob, stays on the hips, so we know when to resist especially on fast days.
Have a positive day team, you are in the right place with the perfect like minded people, no explanations needed, shoulders at the ready when needed, as are the hoorahs. I’m getting better with walking, not marathons yet, but hay, miricles happen, and this WILL NOT beat me πŸ™‚ so walking the path around the house, stopping at the front deck to do up on step down one step, then continue walking. The boys still are silly enough to get excited thinking we are going for “walkies” but plod along with me, re-smelling the same shrub they smelt on the last cycle but are glad to be out and about.
You are what you think, so think positive! See the real you in the mirror, and walk tall team, each day gets healthier and your inner strength will reward you. Remember to give a smile away to a stranger, they appreciate it, you have lifted someone elses day which may have been quite miserable, plus you get the benefites of feeling so good for doing it. πŸ™‚ luv and cuddles to you all CG xxxxxxxx

Fit! Thanks for thinking of all of us in your posts, even on holiday and with a slow connection… Enjoy yourself, lurk here if you can and post when you are able to πŸ™‚
