Im at my mums tomorrow for a few days so I could use her scales to measure a downwards move although Im guessing it will just be recording a loss of what ever Ive gained whilst being away!

Hello all – great to see so many enthusiastic people on board.
Thanks for the brief update CODA! Happy to join in and report, as like a good girl I have mapped out my days for the rest of the months and had a good FD yesterday. NFD today so so far so good, even counting a piece of lemon slice which I made to take to a friend’s place for morning tea.
As I mentioned above, I haven’t weighed myself but will do so after another FD tomorrow, then will report in – and maybe even join a pledge group
Australia – Day 12
Still fasting π Doing the back to back fast. Not feeling as hungry as yesterday which is a relief! Don’t need to go anywhere today (thankfully) so am going to continue gardening.
Fuvvie – Neck is pretty good! Still slightly strained, but nothing to worry about π
The dogs were barking last night and I was wondering what they were barking at. Had 2 echidna’s in the garden! I hope they stay around the house.

California, USA, Day13. Today is a NFD. I think I went over my TDEE. I ate breakfast for the first time in weeks. I started working at 3 am, so by 8 am, I was hungry. I ate a hard boiled egg, turkey sausage links, and a banana. Our boss bought lunch for everyone because yesterday was extremely busy. I hate to pass up on a free lunch and ate a deli sandwich and a choc chip cookie. Tonight I had a corn tortilla and chicken. That’s it, I am done. Going to bed. Good night everyone. I will do better tomorrow.
ETJ – stay strong, every ounce is an ounce towards the 5 you don’t have to lose again!! I find second days are often easier, eating habits are conditioned and I think you can get used to not eating just like it used to be my norm to have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. And Anna and Coda our team can let go of those 5 lbs. They’ll melt, disappear, vanish, be but a memory!
Italy Day 12 – NFD
Today i would like to nail what a healthy NFD should feel like, instead of seeing it as a license to eat whatever i like. I am planning on toast and honey for breakfast, a pearl barley salad for lunch with feta cheese, tuna sweetcorn, olives, and cherry tomatoes. For dinner a chicken and pepper something haven’t decided whether to go mexican or chinese with it!
Still got so many things to try and get right before i feel in control with this new way of eating!
UK Day 12 – NFD. Delicious yogurt with strawberries, seeds and hazelnuts this morning. Always feel good with that, and especially virtuous as I’ve discovered Tesco are doing ‘imperfect’ strawberries at half the price of ‘perfect’. They are absolutely delicious – just small! And the bonus is, they don’t need chopping…even better!

My first day of the bonus challenge, so I will have to work really hard to make up for lost time.
The last 2 days have been ‘feast days!’ and as Im not due home til Monday, I probably have some more of them left to be honest, but will try and be mindful as much as I can now.
I wont be able to fast this week as too much going on but I will aim for a fast day next Monday, which will be our journey back home! I might even try a 4:3 week and go alcohol free…will see…
So today Im aiming for a close to TDEE day.

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 12: You’re on, Ciren2. I actually wrote all of this once already this morning but didn’t press submit and lost it. I’m well through my liquid fast. Had some chicken bone broth with curry powder in it for dinner. Now having green tea with mint. 2 coffees with a dash of cream today and water +++. So feeling pleased with that.
You’re doing a great amount of cycling Rocy65. It’s quite hilly around here and I feel very unsafe on a bike. I rode to work once many years ago and by the time I got to the hospital where I worked, I almost needed someone to undo my clenched hands from the handlebars. It was terrifying riding down the range. I didn’t ever do it againπ±π³π
How are you today HollyLJ? Isn’t it nice to know we’ve still got 12 days to try and produce the numbers on the scale.
I missed your post HollyLJ. If I started my day with toast and honey, it would be all over red rover and I’d have an eat fest for the rest of the day. It would get my insulin spiking. I’ve learnt that toast is a red light food for me. It just makes me hungry. When I’m on an NFD, my day usually starts with bacon and eggs or scrambled eggs with cheese. And I have to have my Vienna coffee. I love the salad with feta cheese for lunch and chicken for dinner would be great. It’s making me hungry just thinking about it. And I’m still fasting. Better go to bed before I cave inπ. I’ll be keen to see how Ciren2 got on with her 36 hour liquid fast.

NFD checking in. Getting ready to leave Friday for a fairly long trip to Utah (daughter & granddaughter’s place) then on to San Diego to attend an engagement party for my 71 year old brother. Going to do my very best to adhere to TDEE and fasting!
Something hit me last night that I hope I will continue to remember, and maybe this will help someone else. I have always had a tendency to want a bedtime snack around 10 p.m. It occurred to me if I brush and floss earlier in the evening, I don’t want to put more food in my mouth later on.

Did terrible on my fast day yesterday, did well until I stopped to buy an ice cream sundae to bring to my grandson, but he was too busy playing so Gramma ate most of it. Then had breakfast for supper, bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. Was up a pound this morning instead of loosing. Will eat smarter today.
Day 12 – USA – NFD
Hi everyone! I’m feeling better everyday and even ran 4 miles this morning. So glad to be getting back to normal. FD tomorrow. I have a meeting after work, so won’t get home until 8pm or so. I’m not sure when to eat. Maybe I should try for a liquid only day! I’m not sure I can do it. We’ll see how I feel.

Day 12: Pacific NW USA, NFD
2 Eggs and Shakshuka this morning. Eating light for lunch and dinner today. Next 3 days are big group dinners so I’ve been thinking about what to do. Maybe I will try partial FD’s with very light eating till dinner time because there has been great expense put into these meals by the hosts. Lots of very good wine and food and while I can control my portions I’m sure it would put me way over 1500 cal if I even just tried a little of everything. I can’t let my 5 pounders down!
Fuvvie – ditto what you said about toast! For me it’s any simple carb/sugar causes an insatiable search for food. I can say that dark chocolate (80%) does not do this to me and now one or two squares almost seem too much. Good on you for staying strong!

Polly – I wish I knew how to conquer those stress hormones that pump us full when life throws us curves but you are surviving, you have great plans and fun ahead, you will see all this stress in the rear view mirror when you hit the road!

Fast day today, we were up early doors at 6am and travelled to my daughters, we’ve had great fun, lots of running with granchildren! had salmon frittata and salad, 370 cals so sticking with that for today. Tomorrow we are out in the evening for a meal so will aim be restrained during the day!

NFD for me today. After a crash and burn sort of day yesterday I think I have pulled myself back today.
Took a friend yesterday for out patient appt. and waited 2 hours for her at hospital. Then out for lunch and afternoon tea. It was such a lovely day here.
Today looked out some counted recipes from MMs 8 week blood sugar diet book and was really pleased. Smallish portions but very filling and not rushing for something sweet afterwards. Phew.

I love cycling fuvvie, we used to go out with the family Oh at the front 5 kids in the middle and me bringing up the rear!! I find cycling my best exercise as I can’t run because of my arthritis. Mind you I did do well with the grandchildren today!
I do believe my arthritis is much better and less painful since starting 5.2. All my inflammatory markers were really high in Feb so will be interesting to see if they have improved! Must get some bloods done for cholestrol levels also!

Hi fellow 5 lbs buddies. Please keep strong and eat healthily Coda you can do the fast day and eat sensibly on nfd. Back2thefuture and ETJ you’re doing great, keep up the good work. ETJ I hope your neck will return to normal and you’ll be strain free. Back2thefuture you can overcome dinner dates by choosing to eat as healthy as you can and doing half fd as you said you might do. I think that will be the best thing to do in the circumstances.
Today was a nfd for me as I fasted yesterday and I had Gozo cheese lets salad for lunch and a curry risotto for dinner when I was out and didn’t have pizza as I’d have done usually. I think I kept to my TDEE although in the morning I had a 150 calorie breakfast and one peach.

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 11. Still fasting as only getting up to lots of bird noises outside and clear sunny skies. Will have my first flute lesson in at least 5 weeks. Scales read 106.1kgs this morning. This is the lowest reading since start at April 26th. Next lowest was 105.2 weeks ago. So glad to have started lower. The 105 kg goal is looking doable.

Rocy65, we also have 5 children, and I remember bush walking with oh in front and myself at rear. That was because I was the slowest. 4 daughters followed by one son. They all love to go camping now and try to camp out all together with their children twice a year. That’s 12 cousins all together having a ball. Glad your arthritis is better. Losing the weight has to help, and fasting has lots of health implications. How did your NFD go, HollyLJ? I envy you your toast and honeyπ

Home at last ! I had to get up at 3:45 am to take my plane and managed to eat only around noon. I was feeling very tired but now I feel better after a little nap and a very light supper. I intend to brush my teeth and go to bed really early. So today will be my first successfull FD since a long time. Bravo !!!

You can get to 119 lbs. You are really close. Sometimes the scale gets stuck for a while and drops a nice pound all of a sudden. Don’t stop trying, you’ll be so proud of yourself and an inspiration for us all.

NZ Day 11 (Thursday) 72.6kg and joining the 4lb group – if there is one.
NFD yesterday and all good til I decided I needed a nice big single malt after dinner – which led to another and then some cheese – thinking I went over the TDEE!
Have decided on alternate FDs for this week so today is my second one – just an egg on toast and coffee so far. Have left over Allotment Soup from Tuesday’s FD so that’ll be tonight’s dinner.

Australia Day 11 FD – ended up having dinner out with the family last night and ate sensibly but had two beers. It’s funny – if the four of us are at home the boys insist on eating in front of TV/computers but if we go out we have a great time catching up. We really enjoy each other’s company which is nice. 36 hour fast day today/tomorrow – I want to do liquid only but have to get past my husband who is upset that he bought chops for dinner and now I won’t eat them. Oh the challenges! π

A FD today, the second this week and like coolcat, I am also doing 4:3 this week. I made it to 5 pm with clear liquids only (coffee, tea, water, all plain) due to being busy. So I decided I might as well try a 36 hour clear liquid fast. And I have found that once I got past 6 pm, it really wasn’t so bad! (I usually eat my 25% of TDEE FD meal around 4:30 to 5:30 pm). It seems like getting through that part of the day without eating makes liquid fasting easier for me. It’s 7:30 pm here now and I’m drinking chamomile tea and feeling very little hunger. I hope that lasts through the night.
I am a bit concerned that a no calorie day will make it harder to sleep tonight than usual. Has that been the case with any of you ladies that liquid fast? And I hope I won’t feel like overeating tomorrow, but that will be part of the learning process as well, I guess. It’ll be interesting!
Plan to go to bed early in a couple hours and do some reading and relaxing to take my mind off any hunger pangs.

My back to back liquid fasting went well. I held off last night and didn’t eat, which I am proud of π An eating day today π
NorthernDawn – I have found my sleeping has improved. I alternate fast, so a lot of nights go to bed hungry. I usually listen to music before sleep and will sleep soundly all night. My main hunger time is around dinner. I am usually very hungry!
I had put on the kilo is took the whole week to lose last week, and then took all of this week to re-lose it? Very strange considering I haven’t been overeating on eating days. Just a part of weight loss I suppose. I have 800 grams more to lose to reach the 5 pound goal. Hopefully fingers crossed I can get there. Only 11 days to get there though! Stay strong 5 pounders!!
NorthernDawn I don’t find fasting impacts my sleep at all. I can remember waking up in the middle of the night feeling extremely hungry on other diets but whether it is the rhythm of 5:2 or the amount of tea and coffee I drink, I sleep really well on fast days. I do find though that having fasted for 36 hours and having only liquids you really have to plan how you are going to break that fast so you don’t overeat. Usually I will have something healthy and filling like fresh Vietnamese rolls or a BIG, low fat, salad sandwich and then carrots and celery for an afternoon snack before a low fat, low carb meal of grilled meat or fish and loads of veges plus a gravy or sauce. I made a huge mistake last week when my lunch which should have broken my fast was delayed by nearly 2 hours and then was quite small. I was so hungry still I couldn’t think straight and went straight to another cafe and ordered a toasted meat and cheese sandwich. Sabotaged myself completely. I should have had a healthy snack in my bag to tide me over.
My last entry doesn’t make sense( nothing changes you might say). Must check before submitting. That was meant to read 106.2, not 105.2 (how I wish it were). How’s your back, HannahWatto?
Well done ETJ. I had thought of doing a back to back myself but there was a spare bit of bacon left over at breakfast and I have a weakness for bacon! Then I ate……dare I admit it? A whole 270 Gm packet of pistachios as I travelled around this morning. The shells weighed 125gms. So my fast for tomorrow starts around about now. That has to be almost worse than toast and honeyπ’π± Its not even a full moon so lunacy must have another cause. On the flip side of the coin, I was asked if I would like to model some clothes in a TS store in 2 weeks time. I was buying a top and that came out of left field. And I said I will. Late night for mother in law but she will enjoy it I think. It should be fun. Apparently they Spring this on customers because they like ordinary everyday people to be their models. I think they hope you will bring your friends who might then buy some of the clothes.

California, USA. Day 12. Today was a NFD. I almost made it a FD since I was eating a very lite lunch. I thought I would just have broth for dinner and call it a day, but somehow several hundred calories made their way into my mouth before that could happen. So today I had a successful NFD, and will Have a FD tomorrow. I finally have some days off and will try to keep active as well. Good night all.
UK day 11 Have over indulged the last 2 days, FD today and time to get serious in this challenge ! As I definitely want to see a loss and then realistically my end goal will be in sight , Coda I too have bought some aspirational jeans and I’ve got a 2 day trip to Copenhagen in around a months time and I want to be wearing them, so that’s going to be my short term motivation .

Italy Day 11 – FD
Going liquids only today πͺ
My healthy ideal for a NFD slipped out of my grasp yesterday when my OH took me out for a greasy burger. It was nice but i didn’t eat all the French fries as they weren’t very nice (would never have happened before 5:2), maybe i’m becoming more discerning?!
I ate very little in the evening and shouldn’t have Gone over my TDEE. But in all honesty it wasn’t the best day to try and be really healthy…my partner is very thin and eats like a horse. He doesn’t like it when i refuse to eat with him so we struggle to find a balance where we are both happy, at the minute it means me cooking different meals for all 3 of us – joyπ. I shall try another day when he is working.
Fuvvie sorry about the toast and honey for breakfast but i have realised i’m not ready to give up carbs and rather than give up on this, as i have other diets, i am trying to find a way to include bread in particular and still lose.
