  • US SE Day 7 FD (maybe). I think I have reached a plateau and have to ride the wave till I start to lose again. It’s frustrating but I know most everyone has gone through it at one time or another and came out the other side.

Anaide…. It’s unfortunate that the media likes to dwell on the bad and not the good… I guess it sells. The world would be a better place if we focused on the good instead.

Surrey UK Day 7 Still in Stourbridge, slowly getting sorted. Should be on track after the weekend..

Day 7 Los Angeles. NFD. Scales down again so I’m on the happy side of my yo-yo. Abandoned my half-formed idea of a liquid-only FD yesterday. After thinking hard about it all day, I decided that for me, a liquids-only day feels a bit too restrictive. Can’t exactly explain it, but it just starts reminding me too much that I’m on a diet! Of course I know that, but somehow it just feels better to not be in total abstinence mode. So I ended up eating about 230 cals of tuna — not very much at all, but something. Let’s all stay strong together.

    Austin Tx-

Ok, my goal is 2 lbs!

If there is another “petite” (shorty) out there who finds 2 pounds to be a big drop, im your buddy!

Held fast and TDEE for Wed and Thurs! So gonna eat healthy until next fast and try my hardest to move despite back spasm going on!

Hello all and thank you so much for the welcome notes- I really appreciate it. 5 more work days and 19 days till we take off in the RV for good. Selling home after 20 years, retiring, leaving the area and all friends and support is scary but exciting. The San Francisco Bay area is insane with people , money, greed, traffic. I don’t like it anymore. But so much change all at once.
I got on the scale after 1 FD and 1 NFD and scale says 2 pounds but I know the most I can lose is 1/2 to 3/4 pound with one FD. Anyone else notice this? I hope today is a FD- sometimes it is hard so I give in- some days are easier.
Thank you all for being here!!!

Day 7: Pacific NW USA (traveling), 500 cal FD may change if “surprise” for dinner morphs into a celebration on the last day of my stay with my daughter’s family

NFD yesterday around 1200 cal with a good HIT hill walk. FD planned for tomorrow but off to see younger and youngest grand boys tomorrow so may need to adjust.

You know, I think the stress hormones (at least cortisol) has a heck of an influence on me, my body, my mind, my belly fat! I just don’t seem to be able manage them very well any more. I’ve had a wonderful vacation with my entire cast of characters, I will see them all together again at the wedding next week but here I am, getting less sleep each night over the last few days, waking after 5 hours sleep last night, jittery stomach and headache all because tomorrow is a transition day. I’m thinking about wedding stuff then missing everyone then the return to the dread work schedule!!!! At least I’m reunited with OH very soon.

Will weigh tomorrow before leaving to get sense of my progress towards week 1 of goal towards 5 lbs. I will “wash” away a few more ounces on a dog walk right now!

P.S. Northern – I bet I still have you beat on the fat reserves, so while I theorize it may allow me an easier FD (or ability to avoid hypothermia while floating in the ocean) it’s going to be better someday if I don’t have this advantage!

P.S. Polly – I know what you mean about the Bay Area, my kids are all spread out around here and the wedding for one is next week in the Presidio (their grandparents buried there so sort of poetic). I head into this maelstrom so I can see family but always amazed at the incredible whirlwind of energy. Good luck on your countdown!

Hi Slim so you join Quebecoise and Cizzy2 in the 2lb club.

Polly you are obviously USA we usually start our post with the day we are on and where we are in the world. As you will be travelling would you put where in USA you are and we can track your journey with you? Maybe interesting for everyone.

    Day 7, Québec

Still on vacation, still trying to maintain my actual weight. Coming back to my normal schedule on August the 11. Looking forward to it.

SlimnHealty, Cizzy2 and I are aiming at a 2pounds lost. I am 63, 5 feet tall and around 130 pounds.

Our FD are Monday, Thursday and an extra on Saturday.

Cizzy2 feel free to add more info on my comment if you wish.

    Welcome in our team, Slim.

    Bonne journée x

California, USA Day 7. Today is a NFD. I plan to eat very lite today, since I am going out with my OH to a dinner and show this evening. I will do my best to make wise choices, like maybe a glass of wine but no dessert.

Slimnhealthy: Welcome to the 2 lb club. I hope your back spasms ease soon.

Québécoise: I feel that I didn’t lose weight during the last challenge is due to poor choices, failed fast days, and just not being engaged in the 5:2 way of eating. With the 2 lb weight loss during this challenge, I will reach the first 20 lb milestone of my weight loss goal.

Anaide: I am a huge fan of the olympics and look forward to seeing your country through the events and featured stories. The American journalists usually do a good job exploring the different cultures and reporting the positive sides of The host country. The aerial views of Rio just take my breath away.

Wishing a great and successful weekend to all. Stay strong!!

    Day 7 – USA – NFD

I decided to wait until Monday for my next FD. I came down with a virus and have not felt up to fasting or exercising. I’ve been resting and unfortunately eating comfort foods. I’ll weigh in the morning, and I hope I have maintained with my one fast day this week. I hope to be back on track next week.

I am excited to watch the olympics next week!

    Day 7…UK Nottingham

NFD, although I didn’t eat until lunch time today, then had a sandwich and banana.

Don’t seem to be loosing much at the moment, surely too early for a pleateau!!!

    Gozo Malta

It was a successful fd today. Coda congratulations on your liquids only 36 hours fast. Well done.

Jayney some of us unfortunately seem to have a pattern of no loss for a couple of weeks and then our bodies let go. It is very hard to keep going through this and I know I found it difficult to deal with. At last I have accepted this is how it is and I focus on keeping to the plan and know it will happen eventually. Just stay strong and keep believing.

    Austin- ohhh!

Sorry, im slow on getting this buddy system thing!!! I cant see my phone without glasses so its really hard sometimes to keep ip with posts as i never can find those glasses! Lol

Ok! So Team 2 lbs!!! Cizzy2 n Quebecoise! On va gagner!!! Oh, is it a competition? Maybe not. Bon courage team 2 lb!!

    Day 7 Cornwall UK.
successful fast day yesterday and lost 1lb!
today nfd and not so good as got temped with whitebait and chips this evening, oh dear! I did!! manage a 5mile bike ride though!
So tomorrow a low calorie day.
Have a good weekend everyone, stay strong!!

    Ireland day 7 fd…..

kept busy today doing a deep clean….reclaiming my home after being on holiday and leaving 2 sons looking after it….I’m finding if I have my coffee with cream as per usual in the morning it keeps me going til around 3 in the afternoon….worked for me today and I hate missing my coffee so happy out…weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed

US, Day 6, NFD….I guess I’m in the 2 lb group.

    Day 3 FD California

I made it thru the day and had just 2 apples for dinner. Feel better after 1 fd 1 eating day and day 3 for me is a fd. Thank you everyone for your support. As I travel in the RV I will post about different places- can we post pics?

SlimnHealty, it’s not really a competition but Coda promised a bottle of champagne to the teams where all the members reach their goal.

    Australia – Day 8

I finally got around to riding my horse for the first time since she has been out here and …. got thrown. Straight away. She is not a beginners horse. She has been flighty since she has been out here, our farrier who sold her to us said she was in season, so we thought it was that. She was hard to catch, which I have been spending a lot of time with her and she has been getting better. When you groom the other horses though, they just stand there and love it. She kind of snorts and her eyes dart around with her head right up. I have been making comments to hubby over the past couple of weeks about it. Anyway, I had only gotten my leg over her, as soon as I sat down, down went her head with her back legs kicking, back and forth, then she did a tight turning circle to which I was thrown, landing nicely on my head and she took off. Thankfully all I got was a headache, winded, black eye and some sore muscles. Our farrier is happy to take her back. He hadn’t had her very long himself before he re-sold her, so he doesn’t know whats going on with her. All I know is I already have 1 horse that can’t be ridden, and I don’t want 2!!

After all that, have a good day all, lol!!!

ETJ, I love your day to day stories. I can almost imagine you flying off the horse. I’m happy you were not injured more than that. Good luck with the rest.

    Brasil🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
    Olimpíadas.🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵

Welcome to team 2 pounds k-lo. I thought you’d be joining.

Im gonna fast Monday, Thursday like Quebecoise.

    US Day 7- FD (kinda)

Over for a fast day but under for a non fast. I met a family friend for lunch but was good and got a lunch portion of tilapia and rice pilaf.

Tired tonight but trying to watch all the countries in the parade. Doesn’t help that they have it delayed by an hour!

    Croatia,Day 8, NFD
    Weight: 78.9 Kg

Italy Day 8 bonus – FD
Yesterday Lots of fruit, felt nice. Today hoping for a good Fast day, i don’t want to let my buddies down. 6 lbs is going to be tough. Will have first weigh in on tuesday

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 8, That’s the style HollyLJ. Tough, yes. Impossible? No. My big challenge tonight is this birthday party. I’m dressed in my aerobics outfit with a tracksuit over the top. It’s really cold. My hands feel like icicles. 107.1 on the scales this morning. Didn’t eat from 7pm last night till I had a handful of macadamia nuts half an hour ago. So that’s 18 hours and will lay off the food tonight. I too do not want to let my buddies down. Bit hard when it’s a sit down meal🤔😷 Maybe I do need a mask🎭Strength of mind is what I need.
ETJ : landing on your head sounds dreadful. Hope your neck is in good shape. I’m glad you’re not getting on that particular horse again. Any pins and needles in your arms would be a hint to have a neck x-ray. Undisplaced fractures are not unheard of after an accident like that.
Rocy65, I just love fish and chips. A bit of a red light food for me. Hard to stop at a few chips, but I suppose one has to live as well as survive.
All the best for the rest of the weekend.

Quebecoise – Thanks. It would be nice to have a rest, but alas I am too busy, haha

Fuvvie – Thanks. Nothing is too wrong though. My neck hurts a fair bit, but it is muscular because it is at the side going into my shoulder. It took me a bit, because I couldn’t breath, but I kind of went “well I’m alive” and then took a bit to be able to see properly. I had a headache straight off the bat. I am so, so lucky I was wearing my helmet. And lucky I landed where I did which was in a pile of grass, about 10cm from the large rocks in the garden. I still don’t know how I got a black eye.. I have been really busy today with our driveway garden, so I’m not too bad! Although I was trampled by a steer, who jumped off a stock float on top of me, fell on me, rolled on me, then stood up on me, at the start of the year. Everyone thought I was dead. I had massive bruising, you could see the entire hoof print on my arm for about 3 months, the bruising was so bad! It felt like I’d been knifed. I thought I had sprained my ankle, but after about 1/2 an hour, I could walk. I then helped them get them back on the float, haha. And the next week I spent fencing… Maybe I’m not too bright, lol. Mum always says no brain, no pain, haha.

Hi all day 8 6th August

Oh dear ETJ how disappointing but so glad you are ok. Could the horse be in pain? If she was wary of being groomed sounds like some issue. Did you see her ridden before buying or had you ridden her before you brought her home? At least you bought her from someone you know and they will take her back. Poor you and poor horse if there is something wrong. The horse I owned had had a fall previously and i discovered had put his back out in a few places. A chiropractor was able to help.

We are almost at the beginning of the last part of phase 2 challenge. It is only 2 weeks so you will have to make each day count.

You can undo a weeks worth of effort in one binge meal – keep this in mind for the next 2 weeks.

Don’t be impatient – this is a plan for life. A 1lb/500g loss every week is realistic for most – with some of us not losing any for a few weeks then dropping.

The scale is just one indicator – are your clothes looser?

Create a meal plan you will look forward to over the next 2 weeks (within your tdee). Really pay attention to what you are eating and how much – are we fooling ourselves at times with our portion size?

Just a few things to think about over the next 2 weeks. Remember we can do anything we put our minds to. We are strong and we can do this!!!!

Oh my ETJ you are indeed so lucky. It’s always in the after when you think what could have happened but you have lived to tell the tale. Take care x

Coda – Yes, I rode her when we got her. He’d taken her on a 3 hour trail ride before we got there though. Our farrier is also a horse chiro, lol. He has fixed our other horse. He said he will check her out tomorrow. She was acting strange tonight with her ears back, pacing, when I took the feed down to them. Even the donkey had a bit of a kick at her! I just feel like I can’t trust her now 😩

Sorry me again forgot to say I completed another extended fast with liquids only. I stayed the same as last week but that is ok as this seems to be my pattern. Hopefully timing my next drop towards the end of this challenge. I stopped eating Thursday lunch time and broke my fast 9.30 Saturday.

Had to justify the benefits of fasting yet again to someone who has never had a weight problem and thought I was doing extreme measures! How can something that I can happily live with and lose weight with added health benefits be wrong. How come I am lighter now than I have been in 10 years? How can it be wrong when lots of people have gone from obese to healthy, when they no longer need medication, when they are no longer at risk from diabetes! Grrrrrr!

ETJ Maybe just not the one for you then – you want a horse you can trust not one that will break your confidence. Sorry it didn’t work out – next time lol

    Day 8 Drizzly Cornwall UK!
HollyLJ and Fuvvie I will be strong and work hard to get that bottle of champers for our team! I know we have set the bar high but we can do it.
I think my neck pain and heel pain have really been getting me down, depressing when you can’t walk far or fast and have a neck/shoulder and headache!
Today I did do my HIT on my static bike and felt better for it, also my strength exercises, though not plank/pressups til neck/shoulders improve.
NFD today I did have a cereal breakfast which was the first since end of April, it suddenly hit me that I could be on the slippery carbs slope after last nights f&cs!
Had to read all your inspiring motivating posts and they really have helped today, thankyou one and all, especially coda for your daily motivational posts!
Anaide – the opening ceremony was great stayed up til early hours to watch is! We love the Olimpics and hope it all goes well for Brazil!! Good luck to all our teams around the world.
EtJ – I used to ride as a child but getting thrown kicked and bitten put me off horses for life!! So pleased you’re ok.
Pollyc – welcome to our challenge! How exciting, selling up and moving out travelling. How I would love to do that! My lovely OH is such a homebird we dont go far!
Lets all stay strong together – we CAN DO THIS!!

Coda – Thanks and yes 🙂 I’ll get over it! I think we have had it drilled into us so much, in the 90’s, 00’s, that you can’t skip breakfast. Eating many meals, all day is good for you. You don’t want to go into starvation mode, etc. Fasting is the opposite of everything, anybody has been told. Some people honestly believe that people get fat because they don’t stop eating. My FIL is anti fat. He is skinny and eats like a horse. Absolutely gigantic meals. He won’t eat a bit of chocolate. He’ll eat the whole family sized block etc. He thinks that because he eats so much and remains thin, well how much does someone who is overweight eat? Idiot! And then there are those that think that all fat people are just lazy. It is just so complex!

    Surrey UK Day 8

Okay, I think I am as sorted as can be, and now it would be nice to catch up! CODA, Do I understand correctly…the 2 week challenge starts on Monday 8th August and ends on Monday 22nd August. Some of us are buddying up to lose lbs. Let me be conservative and say 3 lbs? I have found a scale in this house I am staying in, and with great trepidation stepped on it this morning, and after a what I thought was a disastrous week, it said 98.8 kg. Can’t remember what I posted last time, but so encouraged and pleased that I can get on with it now. Going to have a FD today.

UK day 8 another NFD Lovely sunny day here think I’ll go have a wander and try and catch some of the
Pride parade, Anaide caught some of the opening ceremony The night flight over Rio was amazing.
Trying to get the balance right of enjoying the weekend not obsessing over food, but making sensible decisions . Have a good weekend everyone

Hey Fuvvie Best of luck for the birthday party. I think a sit down meal is often easier than a buffet, which I find I continually graze! Stay strong!

HollyLJ good luck with your fast day today!

I’m off on a long bike ride! Gotta get rid of those carbs I’ve consumed over the past 2days!

    Day 8 USA (Illinois)

Quick check-in. NFD today, busy with activities.

ANAIDE – terrific opening ceremonies! My husband was born in Rio in 1947 (his career Army father was sent there post WWII as a consultant). Until life got in our way, we really had hoped to get there for this Olympics. But we still say U-S-A! U-S-A!

Day 8, Cotswolds, UK: Fast day. So far so good. Just got home from work. A very warm and sunny day for delivering the mail. I have tendonitis in my wrist and had it strapped up in a flexible wrist support for work…hot and achey. Wear and tear from many years of this work, I’m afraid. What a relief to undo it when I got home! I’m having some acupuncture on it this afternoon. Hope it helps.

    Gozo, Malta

This morning my daughter and I went to hospital for baby Alexander’s first visit. He is doing well and gained the weight he lost since birth. I still cannot hold him as I’m still sick with runny nose.

Enjoyed a skinny cappuccino this morning with three figs from our garden, and about 140 calories more in breakfast biscuits. I ate crisp reads with Edam cheese, one fig and one light cherry yogurt for lunch. This evening I mean to have spaghetti arrabiata and one teaspoon grated cheese and one apple or fig. It should be about 1350 calories and under my TDEE.

Coda I always have around 500 calories on my fast days. One fourth of my TDEE would be less but I’m not confident I can go lower than 500 calories.

ETJ I was only once on a horse and he was moving very slowly but I thought he was moving quite fast. I’m sorry for your fall experience. Do seek medical advice if your neck pains you. My daughter who is a physician, specializing in endocrinology and diabeties, once saw a really ad horse accident at hospital in ‘Malta on a woman and she made me promise not to take our son, her brother, riding on a horse. Do take care.

    Enjoy your Saturday everyone.

US, Day 8, NFD…While I joined the 2 lb club, I really hoped I would be going in the OTHER direction! I think all those dinners out have caught up with me. Oh well. Still getting the Wow You Look Greats!

Delicious breakfast of 1/2 cup of black bean pasta and a heaping tablespoon of ricotta cheese. A cup of coconut oil coffee, and I’m off for a massage. Then I hope to spend some time getting to know the contents of my MELT method delivery.

    https://www.meltmethod.com/about

    Skate wings for dinner!

    Gozo, Malta

My school friend from Melbourne has extended her stay to next Friday as her mother passed away Thursday evening. Her funeral is taking place in forty five minutes time. My husband and I are going to the funeral.

Day 8: Pacific NW USA (traveling day), NFD, FD see what happens

Yesterday’s FD went to about 700 cal with the “surprise” dinner out at an old style famous Italian restartrant that has updated their menu with gf pastas and pizzas (for my daughter) and veg swap for any carbs (for me) so I had wild grilled salmon and lots of veg.

Today may be hard to find healthy food so consequently might be a low cal day.

Sorry about your new/ex 4 legged friend ETJ – another day in the life . . . but you must be working through those nine lives you must have!

Coda – initially I had naysayers but eventually I decided to just revert to “see how low carbs and portion control have helped the pounds fall off” and no one bothers me any more. When (notice I didn’t say if) I get to my weight goal, have had blood tests and am on a 5:2 or 6:1 maintenance plan I will have the proof they were not giving me good advice and Dr M and F were!

Just heard from OH that some of my wedding attire (shoes! rehearsal dinner outfit!) that were ordered and shipped home for him to bring to me must have been stolen from our porch after drop off because two packages never were found. Now I have to find some place and somehow to go shopping tomorrow. Erg!!! (Small life challenge I know compared to others’ illnesses, aches, pains, falls, friends and family passings. Sorry for feeling sorry for myself.)

Oh gee, forgot to add today’s weigh in results, in first week of 5 lb loss goal I am down 2.2 lbs (on mini travel scale)!

    The Olympics! very beautiful!
Thank you! SongBirdMe, Rocy65, BrightonBelle, cizzy2 and all who watch the Olympics in Brazil.
Very beautiful! people around the world, a lot of friends and a lot of peace!
    Votes to continue all right!
    Very proud to be Brazilian!

Let’s hope our athletes of our countries!

    Austin Tx- Day 8

    NFD

    Hi y’all, hi Team 2 lbs (cizzy2, québécoise, k-lo)

Unexpectedly the back spasms left me nauseous and no hungry so I went ahead n had a fast yesterday.

My vacation weight is off already so I guess I already met the 2lb goal strictly speaking… But the weight b4 vacation was the one that wasn’t budging, so for my sake, I’m going to think 2 lbs from now till we finish.

It’s nice to know that a bad week of driving n less than optimal food choices can be rectified in 3 short fasts! Yea!

Also, I’m not sure if I mentioned it but I was on ADF prior to vacation and I am changing to 5:2 as of this week. So I think it will help me focus on better NFD eating.

    Go team! 💃🏄👯

Australia Days 8 and 9 NFDs. It is 1:20am so may as well post for both days!

    Day 8 Minnesota, USA NFD

Yesterday was a good FD and met all activity goals. It’s a beautiful morning here (1040 am) and OH and I have a lot of yard/garden work planned for the day. Having only water and coffee until noon, when I will break fast, as usual. Down 1 lb from last Saturday.

ETJ, the horse may have been mistreated in the past or in pain, which is very sad, but that shouldn’t be your problem to solve. It’s just too dangerous. You’ve got your family to think of. That black eye and headache and the blurred vision could be a sign of a concussion. The helmet does’t prevent your brain from sloshing around in there and hitting up against your skull on impact, the frequent cause of concussion. Please take it easy for a few days regardless of how much you think needs to be done or how good you seem to feel!!!

Anaide: beautiful opening to the Olympics. You can be proud of Brazil!

Team 3 Pounds: LisaHawk, take care of yourself and rest. Health is the overall goal here, so do what’s best for you as far as fasting.
Asweet and NorrieB, stay strong! We can do 3 lbs!

B2tF, so sorry about your packages being stolen! That is happening so often these days. I would be quite agitated about the whole thing. I hope you find perfect replacements as soon as you walk into the first store. Good luck!
