  • UK day 6 busy day planned which always helps me to not obsess about food. Good FD yesterday , although this week I’ve had to split my allowance and have something at lunch time whereas previously I could get through to the evening .NFD today but aiming for 1000/1200 cals . I’m a bit wary of setting a target , but hey I’ll go for an ambitious 4lbs , don’t think that’s a group yet ,Micky42 maybe ?

    US SE Day 5 and 6. I could have sworn I posted yesterday…. I might have forgotten to hit the submit button 😊 Today is a FD.

    Nfd for me today. Will be going out for lunch with my Melbourne school friend for the last time. She flies back to Australia on Saturday. I mean to stay under my TDEE.

    This morning I had coffee with some milk and 100 calories low cal buscuits pavesini.. I also babysat my grandson. But I have a runny nose and taking paracetamol with lemon (satchets) called beechams plus. I took the cold from my grandaughter.

    Anyway keep strong everyone, tomorrow is another day. Happy Thursday.

    Day 6 USA (Illinois)

    NFD for me. Holding my own. I likely went over my TDEE yesterday, but it felt good to eat again. And even had a Long Island Iced Tea cocktail before supper.

    Northern Dawn and ETJ – thanks for your input on my sleep issue on FD’s. Dawn, I think you’re right that much of it is due to sleeping being more difficult anyway post-menopausal. ETJ – consider yourself normal and lucky!

    Minols – count it as taken you are back in the fold – for an added bit of fun – there is no pressure just visualising – we are buddying up with others who wish to lose by the end of the bonus part (which ends day Zero 22 August). So you can join in with the 2lb group, 3lb, 4lb, 5lb or 6lb group.

    Songbird yes this would be to the end of the bonus part of challenge (ending 22 August). I’ll add you to 4lb group.

    Bonus day 6. Cornwall Uk. Welcome HollyLJ to the 6lbs club, we’ve given ourselves quite a target! Lets go for it!

    Fast day today, just had miso soup and a couple of radishes, feeling full!

    Yesterday I would have fasted but OH had made a lush chicken curry, I decided to have over a big pile of runner beans instead of rice! I didn’t miss the rice at at all! came in at 1000cals for the day.

    I have been investigating Konjak (shirataki) noodles which I read somewhere on the forum! They have vertually no carbs or calories! Holland and Barrett had run out but I found them in Sainsburys made by Barenaked foods, they also do Konjak rice which I haven’t yet found! I’m going to have some tonight with tuna and veg.

    Fuvvie – that was spooky! My neck is not good, went and had treatment yesterday so very tender today. Taking it easy today! hope your fast day goes well today.

    I’ve picked loads of runner beans so now going to prep and freeze them. The neighbours love this time of year as they find bags of veg on their doorsteps!!

    Thanks Coda, I’ll accept the medal gracefully! Yes I am sticking to good fats, Just seems alot of butter,cream and ffat cheese being consumed. I do have coconut oil each day.

    Nfd for me today. Started off with good intentions but had breakfast and around the house, in and out of the kitchen. Made salad for OH and thought I may as well have it as well. A another salad tonight with goats cheese. I will have a busy day Saturday and do my fast day then.

    US, Day 6, NFD.

    Yesterday’s fast went fairly well. Dinner — black bean spaghetti with a packet of prepared Indian veggies and cheese. I threw in some sauteed kale, zucchini and a can of chick peas. Had a small portion while hubby had seconds. Lots of yummy leftovers.

    This morning I fried an egg to throw on top of some resto leftovers of lentils and roasted eggplant. Really delicious.

    120.5 today. I am STILL hoping to get to 119.0 by August 12.

    Nurse, retiring next week- getting in an RV to travel the US for 1 year. Used fasting in the past and stopped- gained 5 pounds and want to stay at my ideal weight of 130 which I worked so hard to get back to for over 18 years. Want help and support from others doing this.

    Coda – I had to convert to figure out what the pounds are. Can you please add me to the 5 pound group as I have already lost 2.8 pounds this week 🙂 Hopefully lose the rest in the next couple of weeks.

    Songbirdme – I will count myself very fortunate. I hope you sleep soundly tonight 🙂 And I hope I don’t jinx myself!

    Fast day today and not bad non fast day yesterday.
    Walked early this morning

    Surrey UK Day 6? Managed to find a temporary wifi connection. How is it possible that in a first world country like this there are places that have no connection?
    I arrived here on Sunday 31st July…My careful tracking has gone out the window, though I am really watching what is being consumed…have not had a fast day yet, but will try and get back into a routine within the next day or two.. can’t even say I will join the 2, 3, 4, or 6 lb buddies, but I will do the best under the circumstances.
    I would like to ask, getting the various posts, I am getting between 10 to 20 of each post. Does anyone know what is going on? Must be some kind of glitch. Soon I am going to manage to sit and read through all the posts…I am definitely on board for whatever comes along on this thread, please bear with me if my posts are intermittent!

    Québec, day 6

    My FD yesterday started well but finished in wine. Once again ÃŽ was lucky to maintain the same weight this morning. My big mistake is that I started to late preparing my dinner and became so so hungry I could’nt resist having a glass and then another. I stopped afet that and ate my light meal but the burt was done. So I decided to eat two pieces of pie and some chips. Looking backwards, it’s so funny to see me go last night.

    So, once again, note to myself : plan, plan and plan.

    A NFD today, trying not to go over my TDEE.

    Cizzy2 i am happy to pair up with you. Must say that I LOVE California. I went 4-5 times, about one month each time.

    I read your profile and our gainweight is a bit similar. I also gained about 40 pounds in a few years. I realised that if I got on that way I would be at risk for diabetis ( my father had it ).

    I find it very difficult to loose weight even if I don’t eat much calories. Generaly around 1000 calories a day. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables but have problems controling myself when I fall in chips and dessert.

    I am on vacation so it’s twice as difficult since our schedule isn’t regular. I will be back home next Thusday or Wednesday and I promise I will start loosing pounds once again. For the moment, staying at the same weight is almost a miracle lol.

    Day 6, Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, UK: Non-fast day.
    Achieved another 36-hour water-only fast throughout yesterday. One more pound down this morning. About 4 from my target weight now…who would believe it after 25 years!!!?
    Because tomorrow is my day off work this week, I’m shifting my next fast-day to Saturday. Fasting is just a bit too much for me on a day off work unless I’ve got a busy day planned….which I haven’t. I normally fit in three during the working week and eat freely at the weekends. So, a slight change of plan for this week ONLY.

    Day 6 Los Angeles. Congratulations Pollycosmo – retiring and going on a year-long adventure AND taking care of yourself! FD for me. Toying with the idea of a no-cal, liquid-only day. I have done that successfully only once before. We shall see how strong I am around 7 pm tonight!

    Havnt broken my fast yet, and im on my 38th hour now. Just decided to wait till really super hungry- cuz healthy food tastes so good when im super hungry.

    Ive still got 2.5 pounds of vacation to lose.

    Day 6: Pacific NW USA (traveling), NFD

    Made g’sons some French toast this morning. As I was drinking my BPC g’son fried me an egg so I could eat with them. We stayed up late to watch an X-men movie. It’s a franchise that’s been out a while but it was my first viewing. Hugh Jackman really did buff up for it, didn’t he??!!

    I plan a low cal day so I can add a few more ounces off. G’sons and I are getting emotional thinking about end of summer fun so I hope to not let my emotions start bingeing.

    Welcome Pollycosmo – you will find this a very supportive “cyber café”. OH and I also dreamed about a cross country retirement trip visiting iconic baseball fields. Some of the best have since been replaced or shut down, so also our dream of an antiquities cruise through the eastern Med being put on hold so we may revisit the cross country idea with national parks as a theme.

    Coda – on your buddy list it looks like Micky42 may be going for a total 9 lbs, go girl! (Ha!)

    California, USA Day 6. Yesterday was a FD. I didn’t make the liquid only goal I had set. I became nauseated in the afternoon and grabbed a few chips to feel better. I then had some chicken and veggies. I am sure I stayed under 500 calories. Today is a NFD.

    Welcome Pollycosmo. Congratulations on retiring. I, too am a nurse and hope to retire in the next 5-8 years. You will find wonderful support on this thread that will help you reach your weight loss goals.

    Quebecoise: I was happy to just maintain during the last challenge. I have lost one pound but that can change daily. My weight has been going up and down. I want to have a solid 2 pound weight loss. It would be nice to yo-yo in the 160’s pound range instead of the lower 170’s like I am doing now. Chips are my weakness as well. I live in central California, approx 100 mi east of San Francisco. Visitors to my area are just passing through on their way to the mountains or the coast. I normally fast on Monday and Thursday, but fasted yesterday due to my dreadful eating on Tuesday. I may try another FD on Saturday. I would count it a success if you maintained your weight while on vacation. Enjoy!!

    Day 6 Minnesota, US NFD
    Broke my fast with a salad at noon. Romaine, feta, olive oil, olives. I eat some version of that almost daily. I usually add more protein but I’m saving back calories for later. OH and I will be taking dinner over to daughter’s home to see her and our two granddaughters. Her husband is away tonight. I’m sure there will be a treat or two involved. 😉 Planning on some yogurt around 7 pm tonight. Slept poorly last night. Power of suggestion, SongbirdMe? LOL

    I walked my 3 Km today, but not very quickly. Still very hot and humid, after thunderstorms and pouring rain this morning.
    Staying under TDEE is my goal. I may fast tomorrow for a third FD this week. I’m feeling like that could be quite doable. Otherwise, I think I’ll try Saturday for the third one.

    Congrats Ciren2, BTtF, Coda, ETJ and all the others who do the 36 hour liquid only fasts…..I have decided the 36 hour liquid fasts are not in the picture for me at this time. I admire you all for sticking it out; such determination!

    Welcome, Pollycosmo from me too! I pray you enjoy retirement as well as I have. I was a music teacher, mostly middle school but really everywhere from kindergarten to college. I bet you will still have people wanting you to work part time since nurses are becoming more and more scarce!

    Enjoy your RV-ing though! I’m in Illinois so if you get through my way, let me know!

    Northern – I don’t know what others would say but I theorize that it might be the case that liquid only 36+ hour fasting might initially be a little easier depending on your body’s stored fat reserves, at least that’s what I assume has been going on with me. It’s always mind over matter no matter what (old habits) but I don’t think you need to consider it something you need to achieve. I do iliquid only fasting
    on the days my body feels like it or that circumstances allow.

    Australia Day 7 NFD – well I weighed in on my brother’s scales but am going to ignore I as according to hem I have put on 7.5kgs in the last week! Having said that I did have my first FD fail since starting the FastDiet but noting to deserve that increase! 🙂 I also went to the gym for an hour yesterday and my knee is feeling so much better so am going to restart my walks. Welcome PollyCosmo and good luck all with your weigh ins!

    Cozzy2, thank you for your nice message and your encouragements concerning my weight vs vacations.

    On my side, I would like, at the end of this challenge, to yoyo in the high 120 instead of the low 130. My fast days are exactly the same as yours ( even the extra Saturday ) .

    I am a bit surprised that you didn’t loose during the last challenge. Did you make a good evaluation of your TDEE and were you able to stick to it ?

    I never tought that loosing weight could be so difficult after the age of 50. It’s really tough and an effort all the time. However, when I become very strict and focused it becomes easier. I must not eat not one bite of chips or dessert because if I do, I’m done for one or two weeks.

    So I guess chips should be our common ennemy ! Maybe we shoul ask president Obama and prime minister Trudeau to ban chips from our two countries lol !

    Australia – Day 7

    NorthernDawn – I applaud you for your intentional exercise. I haven’t gotten there yet. I don’t really struggle with the water fasting until dinner. Some days are really hard, but the majority these days aren’t too bad. I have found that I need to make sure I eat decently on my eating days or else it makes my non eating days really difficult.\

    A fasting day today. A beautiful sunny day. I have our poddy calf at the glass doors looking in mooing at me. I think he wants his bottle 🙂

    Sunshine Coast Aus Day 7. Weighed in at 107.3 kgs this am. So have to rid myself of 2.3 over next 2 weeks. Big weekend coming up. I must get some exercise going. Have to make the birthday party a social event, not an eating event.
    I’ve never had miso soup, Rocy65. Must google the recipe. I made a lot of chicken stock yesterday and have frozen it so I can have it on fast days. Will try and have that on fast days. Will not eat breakfast and lunch tomorrow to limit the damage.

    Fast Day went well yesterday, i started snacking but stopped myself in time. I need to keep myself busy on my Fast days for them to be really successful, i can get to dinner time with no trouble if food isn’t on my mind.
    Today i’m going to try and only eat raw fruit and veg. I usually find it quite energising and should lead me into the weekend on a high,

    Do you know of another person in this thread who has made a similar goal for the bonus part of the challenge? Just an idea came to mind – something B2TF said (A leader in the making lol).
    Why not pair up or more if there are more with the same goal – maybe if you know someone else is also working on the same goal – if they are sticking to the plan, you won’t want to cave in. I found it helped when I did my first liquid extended fast last week and Ciren2 was also doing it. I didn’t want to give in and have to confess so I pictured Ciren2 sticking to it and gritted my teeth a while longer. A bit of healthy competitiveness? What do you think? Would this help do you think? Is there any one who has set a goal of 5lbs from now till the end and wants to pair up with me. You don’t have to do it off course just a thought and a little bit different for my last challenge as leader for a while.

    Any other buddies out there – anyone going for 2 or 4 lbs? Make a commitment to someone other than yourself and see what you can achieve! If you don’t make your goal don’t worry there is no shame here – just as long as you give it a go! Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful!

    Day 7,Gloucestershire, UK…non-fast day. My day off work today, hence not fasting as I usually do on Fridays. I will do it tomorrow instead.
    Coda: I am not aiming for a certain weight-loss goal right now, but any fellow 36-hour liquid-only fasters, I’m with you.
    Meanwhile, longer term, I aim to be at my goal weight at or around the beginning of September. I have about 4 pounds left to go.

    Day 7 USA (Illinois) NFD for me, but really want to be under TDEE for once. I have been out to eat too much, Chinese last night, and haven’t lost a thing in a while.

    NorthernDawn – hope I haven’t sent you bad vibes about sleep! Sorry for any insomnia we both may be exhibiting.

    I can’t afford not to sleep as I have a big weekend. I direct our local Choral Society and our major summer concert in the park bandshell is Sunday evening. I’m still going to be plenty busy with prep for that, so fasting won’t be a good idea Saturday or Sunday. Maybe Monday? 🙂

    I am recovering … I hope to return to fasting week coming!

    Today begins the Olympics, everything will be OK!

    Brazil is a wonderful country! we were sad when we see the bad image we have abroad.

    I am part of a group of Brazilians who work seriously, who is honest, who fulfills his duties, have little access to leisure, travel very little, our life is work, work and work …..

    We see that the media only shows violence, robbery and corruption, are a huge country with many beautiful thing and a very correct people and workers to show

    It’s a fd today for me, my husband, and my daughter. I’ve planned the meals. So far so good. For this evening I plan on salad and baked fish.

    Feeling sick. ETJ you know what kids do and you speak from experience.

    This afternoon I’m going for an appointment with the nail technician to do both my nails and toe nails. Since starting 5:2 I’m having all my nails done every month. I also plan to go to Mass to the village centre but with the car. I’m to sick to walk today.

    Looking forward to a nfd weekend. Planning to weigh Monday morning.

    Hi all hope all is going well with everyone. I hope you will keep mindful this weekend and not have a ‘splurge’ due to the fact we are starting our bonus on Monday. Make each day count and not a recovery. Really try and stick to the letter – fast days are a quarter of your tdee and don’t go over your tdee on non fast days. Let us see what we can achieve if we really put our minds to it.

    I am doing another extended liquid only fast. Last meal yesterday 2pm only a few coffees, lots of water and a bowl of bone broth last night. So far so good today and will have another bowl of bone broth tonight.

    Not bad fast day but not great either yesterday. We had grandson for sleep over and took him for very nice walk and out for dinner. Will do 16 8’s for next few weeks again, adding in some fasts before our holiday.

    The heat and humidity has broken so I plan a good long walk today with HIIT on the hills and body weight exercises. I stayed below my TDEE yesterday with good choices, and so I expect today’s fast to go well. It makes such a difference.

    Back2theFuture, you are kind to offer me an excuse for not doing 36 hour liquid fasts like so many of you do. I’m pretty sure I still have enough stored fat to easily live off of for awhile, though. 😉 I’m cheering for you to reach your goal by the time of the wedding! How great that would feel for you!

    ETJ, I had to chuckle when you kindly complimented me on doing intentional exercise. You, who lunge horses, put up fencing, nurture and nurse poddy babies, run after three boys and husband, etc., etc., really have no reason that I can think of to do anymore “intentional” exercise. Maybe some relaxing yoga at a spa, would be alright.

    SongBirdMe, no worries: I slept well last night. I hope you have restful nights and your concert goes wonderfully well. I wouldn’t worry that you haven’t lost weight for awhile. I’m sure when your life settles down a bit after Sunday things will swing back into a normal routine, and you will see the pounds melting off once again.
