  • Day 14 Sussex, U.K. F.D.
Great day, very busy out and about. In at just under the 500.
I do so identify with Happy Margo when she talks about the times of always carrying snacks so she wouldn’t get hungry. I have been guilty of this for some years. Now I think, what rubbish. I like to think of all the cells getting a renovation job instead.

ABC1 hang on in there. At least let us all know how you and the fur babies are doing. X

    France

    Thank you everyone.

I understand that life eventually and necessarily ends, but it seems so cruel in how these things strike. We are cosy here tonight. My cat and dog close by.

My God we have another attack – in Nice this time.

    Difficult times.

UK day 14 checking in, thank you Margo for your encouragement. Choir rehearsal this evening and the last one before our performance at the weekend. Not great, as so often happens at the last practice. I’m hoping its because we are focussing on last minute improvements but will find out on Saturday.

    Dahliafan where is your performance?

Ireland day 14 fd….getting close to going home…Monday…had a successful fd today so happy out…spoiled by my sister who cooked the most beautiful low cal dinner…love you DebbieQ winner of best sis award💖

    Australia, day 15, NFD

ABC 1 – it’s OK, this is “Life” with the capital L and we all go through it. It is your turn at the moment. It’s crap, yucky, bloody. stuff, and we hate it, and it’s when we wish we could be totally somewhere else, or someone else, and it seems to come in waves sometimes. You are strong and you will get through this, taking it 1 day at a time. Handle just todays challenges and you will get there. When we try to think of everything all at once it can become overwhelming, so just think about today’s stuff. I’m a believer in calling things ‘challenges’ rather than problems, as challenges are easier to handle than problems. Towards the end of last year we went through a very challenging time. We had 3 Life challenges all happening at once, each with it’s own emotional rollercoaster. I decided to go into maintainence mode. It lasted 8 months. I still did 5:2 as best I could. Some FDs I got them done. . Others were not finished or I went over by a couple or a few hundred calories. Still doing 5:2 and being mostly mindful of what I was eating and drinking made a big difference. I finished the 8 months only 1 kg (2.2 lbs) up on when the challenges began. It was astonishing to me that I could get through a time like that and still be about the same weight. Before 5:2 it would have been a vastly different story. It taught me again that we are learning life skills on 5:2, and we can be in control of it not food and drink in control of us.

You can do this ABC. You can get through this in 1 piece. It’s normal to get upset. It’s very normal to allow yourself to get through Life challenges as best you can, and you will. You don’t owe us anything. Take that sense of obligation off your shoulders. Post when and as you can. Don’t feel you have to read everything or keep up with everything. You don’t. Sending you hugs, whenever needed. Look after you.

    Merry

US SE Day 14 FD. An easy fast day today. Reading through the posts and the difficulties some people are going through really makes me think about how lucky I am really. ABC, my heart hurts for you. You have so many worries on your plate right now. Please know that we are here for you. As Coda said, just let us know how you and your fur babies are getting on and don’t worry about meeting any goals for the challenge. I really hope that things start to turn around for you soon. I am heading into my last weekend with my sister before she heads back home. Making the most of my time with her ☺

Congratulations to Dutch and Fuvvie, well done! And congratulations and commiserations to everyone else because all the names and situations start swimming together in my head after a bit LOL,
    Onwards and Downwards,
    Merry

    US Day 14-FD

Another good fast day, even with the temptations of the costco samples! Fast days tend to make me tired though, so off to bed early!

Asweet – I do avoid Costco on fast days! Good for you to make it through there!

Day 14 Minnesota, USA NFD 9:58 pm Checking in.
Prayers for the people of France.

Abc1- our posts must have crossed. I’m so sorry that so many challenges are happening at once. I’m sending healing thoughts your way.

    Day 14, Québec

An almost FD today. I went to about 750 calories.

ABC1, I am sad to see how life is tough for you. Please hold on, think of yourself and your furry babies. Feel free to come here and share what’s going on. It helps so much to share. We are here, many hearts across tne world, willing to support you.

    Prayers for people in France.

    Croatia, Day 15, FD
    Weight – 82.1 Kg

Day 14 Los Angeles. FD under 500 cals. Walked fast about 3 miles. Keep on keepin’ on, friends.

    Australia – Day 15 – 16 days to go of challenge 🙂

A 1.3kg weight loss this week! Brings me down to 75.6kg. My goal for this challenge is to be under 75, so hopefully fingers crossed I can get there.
And good news this week. Finally in the overweight category of my BMI! lol. I still have a long way to go, but progess is progress, no longer obese! I started out with a BMI of 38.2 and now it is 29.6.

    Sorry about no personals.

    Scotland Day 15 FD

Happy to report another loss of 2 Ibs. Starting weight 58.9 kg and today I weigh 57.3 kg. 3 Ib loss in 15 days I’m happy and I think it will drop down a bit again tomorrow. Another 3Ib to reach my goal and I have a feeling that I will better it. Good luck all.

    AUS day 15
Down by a whole kg since 1st June. Half way to revised goal and feel back on track the last week and a few cm’s off my waist which is my tubby area.
Happy Margo and Patti67 – yes there is a lot of unlearning to do when it comes to the fear of being hungry, I too had got caught up with that and I found it helpful to read Michael Mosley’s books and more recently started “the Obesity Code” by Jason Fung (thank you to someone Who recommended it on this site 🙂
Strength to everyone and hang in there

Eek, Day 14: Pacific NW USA, NFD

Eek because our challenge is half over and eek it’s 5 minutes past midnight – what will Coda say about that!!??

Total FD tomorrow. Bye all, have to post this! Vive la France!

Quick check so I don’t get in trouble with Coda!! 😁 will post my WI tomorrow. Thinking of those poor people in France

    Day 15..UK..Yorkshire

    NFD and out for lunch

I have stayed the same this week…..I only needed 2 oz to loose the pound..I am OK at that…

The Netherlands – Day 15 (fast day)

I’m doing a proper fast day today after my fail day Wednesday. I have a day off and started with a HIT workout on my rowing machine.

UK day 15 NFD today but OH has a day off so we are heading out shortly for a long hike

    ❤️ ABC1 & France

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 15: So much sadness! My heart goes out to those suffering in France. Man’s inhumanity to man overwhelms one if dwelt on.
ABC1: I like the picture of you cosy in the night with your dog and cat close by. The thing I love about this forum is the highs and lows that are shared which strengthen all of us. I’ll keep looking out for you when you feel up to it and send you healing vibes.
I’m fasting today. Thanks to those who shared my happy dance. I’m hoping the next 3 months are as productive. Good night all.

Sending positive thoughts to ABCD and to France.

Weigh in today showed me a drop of just half a pound but a drop of 1% fat which calculates to 1.68lbs of fat lost since last Friday….that’s cool!!
No change in the measurements as yet though.

Still in prep for colonoscopy on Monday afternoon so the next 4 days are going to be unpleasant, but on the plus side my weight will drop even though it will be temporary until eating normally on Tuesday again…lol

    So challenge update:
    Goal was 5.5lbs
    Loss to date 3lbs

2 more weigh ins for me and 2.5lbs to go 🙂

Good luck with the weigh ins peeps!

    Northern Spain here
    Day 15
    Fast day
💕Nice,France and to all of our French friends.

    Surrey UK Day 15

Checking in, very busy weekend ahead. ABC1 my heart goes out to you. Wishing you strength and love to cope with the difficulties facing you. Thoughts are with all those people suffering in Nice…what a terrible thing to have happened.

Going to make some different soups to freeze for fast days. Have a good weekend, everyone

UK day 15…hoping Mum’s scales are ‘differently accurate'(wrong) compared to mine at home! I’ll not sweat what I see on them until I get home next week. Off to buy yogurt and seeds…at least I can stop the toast and honey binging!

    NLD day 15 NFD

All the congrats are heartwarming. Thank you! It’s impossible to respond to all in person but know that it’s really appreciated!

Wow…..there’s some impressive weight loss mentioned. Good job! I started at 69.2kg, gained 1 kg and am now back at 69kg. <Sigh> at this rate I’ll only reach my goal weight of 60 at the end of february. So be it – there’s no rush.

    Be safe!. Hugs x

    Day 15– Colorado, USA

Because my will power is shaky on some days, I’m managing more of 6:1 than a 5:2 pattern.
But on all other days, I’m handling 16:8 or even 20:4 quite well. And the combo of the two is working.

According to the scales, dropped a little more weight!
My muffin top/ love handles are visibly shrinking! 🙂 Yay!

    Day 15 – NH, USA

Yesterday’s fast day was a bust. It started out promising but I caved at the end of the day and I know I went WAY over my 500 allotted calories; I had my pre-op appointment yesterday which made me very anxious and my dishwasher along with hubby’s car decided to stop working yesterday. Plus….it’s my PMS week (my apologies to any gentlemen who happen to be reading this thread).

I had planned today to be a FD but ended up sleeping through my alarm (no walk this morning) so I decided to have breakfast instead. It was a decent breakfast consisting of 2 slices of sprouted whole grain toast with half an avocado flavored with lemon and salt smeared on it; so delicious and satisfying. I am in a much better frame of mind now. LOL

I will be a good girl today and over the weekend, stay under 1500 calories a day and just jump back in on Monday with a FD. Needless to say, no weigh in for me today.

    Have a wonderful day everyone!!

US SE Day 15. NFD. Happy to report 2lb weight loss this week. Looking forward to no alarm at the weekend ☺ Such sad reports out of Nice. Sending love to France.

    Day 15… Nottingham UK…

Week 2 done – 5.8lbs gone!! and I am very pleased with this. My target was a tough one, I wanted to lose 7lbs for this challenge, and I am now hopeful I will get it. Measurements not really changed much yet, hoping that will come soon.

NFD today following a successful FD yesterday. I did not eat until about an hour ago and I had a toasted cheese sandwich, just fancied it and really enjoyed it, followed by a yogurt and can now honestly say I am full. Been drinking plenty, so I do believe that the majority of the time that we think we are hungry, we are in fact thirsty.

My thoughts and prayers are will all those people who are affected by the horrors which are happening in France again – bless you all xx

    Hello everyone! day 15 challenge

Too much sorrow for Nice ….

We Brazilians live with the daily violence, but we are concerned about terrorism in the Olympics ..

Tomorrow will see the result of the last days of fasting, it is important to continue and believe.

I read the forums and I encourage me a lot when I see that there are people who are here a long time with amazing results!

Since April with 5: 2 below 7 kg, 25 kg full

    Gozo, Malta
ABC1 Do take care of yourself and pets. You’re in my prayers as well as the French people.

    LS Happy birthday.

    Kay 65 Take care

Dutch stay strong you’ll get to you target weight before you think so. Think positive.

HannaWatto How do you do 36 hours with black tea and coffee? Don’t you eat at all? No calories?

Fishing Gran way to go to entertain your grandkids, tell me about it. I usually have baby tv on, read to them and play with them with toys such as playing catch the ball when we don’t kick it as well. When they are not here the house is very quiet and I enjoy peaceful time doing things I can’t do when they are here. My daughter doesn’t want her three year old daughter on the iPad most of the time so I have to keep it hidden when she’s around or give it to her when it will be time for her to go home with her mother.

Today I came from my daughter s home as I sleep over her home every fortnight when she’s duty i.e. On call during the night at Gozo General hospital. So I just came home without taking anything and my weight has gone down by 1.1 kilos this week. I started this challenge at 75.3 and two weeks after I’m 73.4. I’m so happy about this because there was a week between 26 June to 1 July when my weight only went down by 0.2 kilos. I started on 6 June fasting at 79.2. Still a way to go to reach my target weight of 65 kilos. But there are clothes that are fitting me again.

It’s a fast day today for us. It was chicken with vegetables for lunch and it will be fish with salad for dinner this evening.

Have a nice day everyone and for those who are fasting today remember tomorrow is another day.

Day 15, Gloucestershire, UK: Fast Day. Hopefully I’ll see some new, downward figures on the scales after today. Things have slowed a great deal during this 2nd challenge. I know why, I’ve been drifting off target a bit with my eating….not quite so focussed as on the May challenge….but, at least no weight GAINS. Basically I have about 9lbs to go to my target, and it’s stayed that way all month really.
ABC1 my thoughts are still with you, and also those in Nice who are suffering right now. Evil must never be allowed to triumph.

    Day 15 USA (Illinois)

NFD for me – will exercise this morning and take care of house things. Just saw an interesting article about eating:
    https://www.verywell.com/skipping-breakfast-and-weight-control-1095145?utm_content=7155016&utm_medium=email&utm_source=cn_nl&utm_campaign=todaysl&utm_term=

My hugs and prayers to all of France, especially families of those in Nice who were so brutally killed. Our world can be such a scary place at times.

    Austin, Tx. Day 15

    Hi all,
Prayers to France today, my second home. Feeling sad that people can’t celebrate a holiday in peace n joy. My daughter’s birthday is Bastille Day so i never pass this day without thinking about all my french friends and family. What a shock. Same feeling i get when i see a bombing in Isreal on Rosh Hashana. 😔

On a happier note, congratulations to all you big losers!!! Lol. There are so many of you, i cant remember all the names! Coda, your challenge has really helped everyone!

I am not a big loser on this challenge, but i feel success.

A holiday, hosting 2 birthday parties, lots of visits to the pool (smelling of french fries and pizza), the death of a close friend, start of a new medication, and stress of preping for big road trip….and not a single pound gained. Exactly same weight.

Well that my friends, is a christmas in july miracle. ❤️✌🏽️

    Ontario
    Eat day
Had back to back fasts Monday and Tuesday
Weigh day today – but I will use Wednesday morning weight which was the same as last week.
This morning I am up 2 because of munching uncontrollably on M & M peanuts, both Wednesday and Thursday nights.
So a wash and much better plans to adhere next week!
Good luck and have great weekend
Will be away for the weekend again, checking in Monday

Thoughts and prayers today for France

US, Day 15, from sunny, muggy NYC. NFD.

Good NFD yesterday. I dined at a brick oven pizza restaurant with friends who arrived from France (pauvre France!), and I had an arugula salad…and two gin cocktails.

I have a refrigerator full of veggies and no family this weekend. I know what I’ll be eating. Arugula, zucchini, cheese, farm fresh eggs….

    K-lo

I laughed so hard at the ice cream day! Its like the devil doesnt want you to be at your lowest weight! Lmao!

    Day 15. Wisconsin, USA.

ABC 1 … I am so sorry about your pets. Your post made my heart sad for you.

French friends..I’m so sorry. It’s just hard to know what to say anymore about these tragedies.

FD today. I broke the rules yesterday. I had a delicious meal last night. Out with a friend. Broiled fish sandwich with chips. I also had a double tequila and club soda with lime. When I got home, I had pretzels and cheese. Oh, I forgot, I also had a dipped vanilla soft serve cone at the drive through.

So, this morning, I have a fast day, and I’m trying to manage this outrageous hunger. Which is weird, because, you think I’d still be full from all that food I ate last night, AND, I am used to fasting, and it typically is not that hard to manage. Except, what I have learned on this board is that the best way to manage hunger is by keeping your blood sugar stable with HFLC choices. I am walking proof of this fact today. Just thought I’d share. I am choosing to be okay with my choices yesterday though. That food was delicious, and it’s enlightening to note my body’s response.

    Happy Weekend, Friends!

    LS- Happy 53rd!!!

Anna6- it’s only going to take a bit longer if I keep on thinking I can eat what I want on NFD. You on the other hand are doing a pretty darn good job! :>

fastdutchgirl- where are you at in the NL?

HappyMargo- ah….them muffin top/handles……mine are shrinking too, thankfully!

DebbieQ- enjoy your weekend. Don’t forget to turn OFF the alarm tonight!

symba7- on the other thread I read about your husband and wish you both strength going through these trying times. How do they treat a slipped disc? Does that mean surgery?

Janeyb69- you are awesome getting rid of that weight!

ETJ- I so enjoy reading about your life – rain/boots/sheep :>:>

Slim- are you okay too? So sad about your friend Jeannie. Rollercoaster also celebrating birthdays. I did laugh at the comment about the cat/dog instead of your children.:>

Hannah- I too am interested in how you do the no calorie FD’s! Please post on that.

JFitzy and back2thefuture- nope- you don’t want to mess with Coda, hehehe

ABC1- Hugs! Thinking of you daily

Being a pretty private person and being on my own I really need music and photographs to process events.
Today I turned to youtube again. Here’s a few – remember them?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uqNLnEzDLA (Les Crane- What the World needs now)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntLsElbW9Xo (Barry McGuire – Eve of Destruction)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho92k2CKNh0 (Simon&Garfunkel – Bridge over troubled waters)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEkIou3WFnM&list=RDxEkIou3WFnM#t=26 (James Taylor- You’ve got a friend)

….just a few gems in music history.

it’s what Coda and others (forgive me I forgot your names) have said: no matter what time of day there’s always someone awake to turn to. Wonderful group that covers the whole planet. This cyber cafe is always open. Great!!

….Off to the kitchen to prepare chicken, lentils, salad and broccoli; my favorite.

    Take care!

    Gozo, Malta

Hi Dutch just listened to bridge over troubled waters using your link. It’s so beautiful. I love music too. A hint we tend to eat because we get bored and have nothing better to do. Now you’ll have the new job to keep you more occupied and by finding things to do and occupy your time you’ll think less about food and stick to meal times. I know I’ve been there. So organize your time and have low calorie veg and water standing by and you’ll soon do better.

Best wishes to everyone. I hope you’ll have a great weekend.

    Day 15, Québec

After my semi FD yesterday I had a semi success on the scale : no lost but no gain. That’s a semi good news.

Before this challenge I was always gaining weight. Kepping it steady is great. I must always remembrer that Î lost 7 pounds since May 1rst. That’s a success in it’s own.

I am now at 132,2 lbs and aiming at 130 …. one day or another !!!! No pressure for now.

Thinking of you ABC1, and your 2good friends and family : your dog and your cat. sending good vibes.

Sending also a big hug from the bottom of my heart to all suffering in Nice. Makes me sad and angry.

    xxx

Day 15 Los Angeles. NFD. Yesterday’s FD brought me down about .2 lbs from my FD earlier this week. Slow, but it’s going in the right direction. Because my weight yo-yos up and down so much, I’m officially only 1.2 lbs down from my starting weight on July 1. I know this happens to most of us but it is a bit frustrating, especially when I’ve been so mindfully good!

But that’s more than enough whinging from me. My thoughts and tears are with the people of France and everywhere — these are very dark times.

    Day 15, India, NFD

Just checking in.. off to finish off office work! Good luck everyone!

Prayers for France. Such a horror. How the world become such a scary place?

Hi UK day 15 supposed to be fd but just blew it 🙁

So everyone my plan – think of it as Phase 2 plus bonus lol – this challenge (Phase 2) will end 29 July as planned and medals awarded BUT I soooo want to keep the momentum going (I have been listening to you) so on 8 August we are counting down 2 weeks. I won’t start a new thread so we all have 8 days (from the end of Phase 2) to re-group and re-focus continuing to post daily and count 1 – 8 if you wish, to beginning of bonus part of Phase 2.

Keeping up with me so far? Good!

so when our challenge ends 29th July, day 1 is 30th July until day 8 which is 7th August. Then we are going to switch and 8th August becomes day 14 and we count down 14 days to Zero which should be 22nd August. I suggest you print off a calendar and write it all in – I know I will be.

I will be going on holidays 26 August returning 10th September. If someone would like to think of running a Phase 3 in September please feel free. I know there were a couple of people (Jfitzy maybe) and someone else also offered (I will find you) and Merryme I think you would be good. I will perhaps come home and find Phase 3 up and running? If anyone running Phase 3 wishes to borrow my big stick just say the word lol!

If anyone has reached goal by the end of Phase 2 and does not wish to do the bonus part let me know before the countdown begins. Another medal will be awarded to those that finish the bonus.

So what do you all think – are you up for it?

Now to get back to this challenge – K-lo where is you co-worker Annmaryusa? – she is in danger of getting deleted. From what I can see there is nothing from day 8. There are a few others I haven’t heard from – will go back and see if I missed something as to why they haven’t posted but have deleted Payne1 and Pinkie2. Think that is us down to 53 with others in danger.

Take care everyone where ever you are x
