Day 10 USA (Illinois) – FD
This week will be crazy, so I decided to do a FD today. How can one retired woman be so busy with non-work obligations? My guess is that I enjoy being busy, especially on FD’s.
As I read posts, I saw so many in our little group who are dealing with very heavy and concerning issues like cancer and other health concerns. Whew – take heart in our efforts to let our weight be a non-issue.
US, Day 10, NFD….weight steady. Off to the gym, then lunch and theatre. Sense and Sensibility. Grilled trout, grilled broccoli and salad last night plus a half bottle of wine!
Hubby tried coffee with coconut oil before he left on his long drive. He reported feeling much more awake and less hungry. He is looking for a jar of the stuff before setting off for the next leg. Hmmmmm
Day 10, Cotswolds, UK: Non-fast day. Sunny and breezy after a drizzly start to the day. Tomorrow is a day off work and a fast day, when we plan to to drive over to South Wales to check on a house we used to rent out. Tenants, once again, left it in a terrible state after they vacated. Now we’re selling up after 6 years. The hassle is just not worth it. So sad when people don’t respect other peoples’ property.
Italy Day 10 NFD
I’m so disappointed in myself. I have just had pretty much an exact replay of yesterday ‘s disaster and gone on complete carb overload.
Can’t explain why but sometimes it feels like i set out to sabotage myself.
Not sure what to do tomorrow, a healthy disciplined NFD with in my TDEE or to try a third FD,
So proud of all of you sticking to the regime even in very tough times, you are all so strong.
NL day 10 NFD
Today I did ab.so.lu.te.ly. nothing!! At the computer all day getting ready for tomorrow. Big day. Big challenge.
Edzeko- looking forward to your report on the BPC – I’m interested!
BrightonBelle- 12+ mile?! Even 12+ kilometers makes me shy away. Hats off to you!
NorrieB- Happy birthday!! Hope you had a lovely day!
ABC1- how are you doing?? I think of you often. It’s not easy. Someone once told me: if you get a lot on your (life) plate..you also get the tools to cope with it. My own story is not one of easy street so please believe me you CAN cope and you WILL find the strength within yourself to handle matters.
Coda- you gave your own answer: if you keep at it you will go through that barrier. it’s going to happen. Not IF but WHEN. Stay strong! :>
Songbirdme- I’ll second that: “take heart in our efforts to let our weight be a non-issue.”
Candles burning….
Day10, India, NFD
Thanks everyone for your kind words.. they mean so much. I am making a lot of bad food choices on my NFDs.. just can’t control myself.. looking forward to FD tomorrow.. infact started the fast at 6:30 today evening to get myself prepped up. Not much exercise also. Will go to gym tomorrow.
I just hope all those battling sickness find the strength and courage to get through each day with happiness and peace.
Dorset UK Day 10
NFD
I decided to do an approx check on my cals on Friday and it wasn’t bad after all…fractionally over TDEE, so yesterday I relaxed a bit and didn’t count the calories. I stayed mindful but didnt worry too much.
This morning I was up a pound…grrr..I just ate normally..definitely didn’t overdo it! Looks like I will need to maintain on less cals than I thought!
Ah well…today was a NFD and I have counted the cals.
IBS is giving me stomach pains and I’m having a day off from the exercise.
Today will end up being a 16:8 day as I didn’t eat til 1pm and tomorrow is a FD.
Regroup and onwards.
Strength to all x
Gozo, Malta
Today I went out for a coffee with my daughter and resisted all the goodies, just had the cappuccino. Later lunch with friends and family and had only one fried crab piece and one slice of garlic bread, resisted second helping then I had baked fish with veg and roasted potatoes. For dessert I had jelly with fruit and custard plus a glass of white sparkling wine. This evening I had a bowl of cereal. I didn’t walk today and no particular exercise unless you count getting my granddaughter to sleep while walking with her around home.
Tomorrow is a fast day.
For those who need perserverence to lose weight please continue fasting, don’t give up. You’ll lose weight!
Good night everyone.
Day 10: Pacific NW USA, NFD
Yesterday I controlled the issue that HollyLJ mentioned she has as well, once I start eating I have a hard time stopping. I managed eating under 500 cal on a FD by having a late dinner, filling up on a huge salad of greens with roasted carrots and one piece of chicken then by mental exercise of saying if I could be strong and ignore thoughts of food maybe I would have some extra strength to send to Jeannie who needs it more than me! I don’t know Jeannie and I realize it’s a mental contruct but I do believe we all share a connection and even if this practice only helps me think outside myself it is worthwhile (and I’ll bet on the chance that it might be true that my mental energy could help someone else).
Jml60 – good on you learning to drive!
symba7 – you and your husband are BOTH staying on your 5:2 plan??!! Again, I will stay strong and share any strength I have left over with the 2 of you!
Jayneyb69 – wow, looks like I need to really bolster up so I have some extra strength to send to you too! Your courage fighting cancer and managing 5:2 inspires!
ABC1 – thinking of you and hoping all this too shall pass for you!
Coda – no, really, we’re just all trying to make your day! (Ha!)
Day 10 Cornwall UK.
NFD All went well on about tdee. I’m going to try to fast Monday and Tuesday as we are then away for a week and wont be fasting! I’ll still Post tbough. My brotherβs 60th so big party!
Songbird, I never stop! I’m sure I’m busier than when I worked!!
Norrieb happy birthday!
All those going through tough times thoughts and hugs.
I know how very fortunate I am a few aches an pains but generally pretty fit and healthy.
Stay strong, onwards and down!!
Day 10 Northern Spain.
Hello everyone.
Spent the day swimming and walking. Not bad!!
Then ate healthily. It hasn’t been a fast day.
Tomorrow is a fast day for me. I think it’s easier to fast in Summer as there are more distractions and I don’t need comfort food.
Anyway, so far so good.
Let’s see how the week plays out.
Good luck everyone
Cheers
Sunshine Coast Aus Day 11. Thanks for your kind thoughts Jml60. There seems to be a bit of an epidemic of pertussis in Qld at present. They are not letting my mother-in-law home from rehab till I am well. Last time I was in Scotland, I climbed to the top of Ben Nevis. That was a thirty year long goal. This weight loss seems like a similar effort is required to get thereπ At least I only have 38kgs to lose rather than the 53 I started out with. All the best everyone. See you all tomorrow. πΆπ
Day10 – USA – NFD
Late post today. Had dinner at my mom’s today and I’m afraid I went over my TDEE. Oh well, tomorrow’s a new day. I did a Body Pump class today at the gym. Felt great.
I’ve decided to do my FD tomorrow instead of Tuesday this week. Going to go for a run in the morning. I’m still playing with my schedule, FDs and runs to see what works best.
Have a great day tomorrow!!
Day 10– Colorado, USA
Made a terrific alfredo dinner with zucchini pasta (spiralizer rocks!) I am stuffed, even though I ate much less than I previously would have. Sure takes less to fill me up these days!
Got in loads of movement: DH & I rode bikes, stopped off at gym to lift weights (& planks!), then rode bikes to grocery store. When we finally got home, my doggy gave me her *sad eyes* so even though I was pretty wiped out, I took her for a walk. She’s such a good dog, it’s hard to say No.
Looking forward to Fast Day tomorrow!
Australia – Day 11 – 20 days to go of challenge π
A fasting day today. Still feeling crappy today. I hate feeling sick. Taking cold and flu medication. Yesterday I made the mistake of taking the pony for a walk around the farm and my son was riding him. Got back and felt so sick. Today have to go to town, take the kids to a play center as it is still raining. Let them run around for awhile.
Be strong anyone fasting today. Or not fasting. Sometimes our non fast days can make our fast days redundant. Don’t let that happen! You work hard, so don’t undo your hard work!
Day 10 Minnesota, USA 10:15 pm FD Checking in. I have grandkids for the week. Glad I got a FD out of the way, today! Not easy with them and their treats around, and I suspect it will become too tempting to resist all of it over the next several days.
I have two days of posts to catch up on sometime tomorrow, hopefully. Sending good luck and best of wishes to all of you!
Day 11, India, FD
My first fast of the week, just had a 45 calorie soup (11AM here).. will try to save rest of the calories for later in the evening.. made chickpea curry for lunch for my daughter and its getting hard to resist it till the evening :)..
Is the bullet proof coffee really good to stave off hunger? Has anybody tried with butter or ghee? I don’t particularly like coconut oil in my food..
Still day 10: Pacific NW USA, NFD around 1500 cal with strength exercises and 5 mile walk
Dutch – wishing you luck!
Delwct – good idea about the protein powder added to BPC and you can add turmeric if you want to get really crazy!
MiniMee – Bullet Proof Coffee is usually with unsalted butter but I’m sure ghee would be tasty too. The original recipe also calls for the addition of refined coconut oil (sold in the states as MCT oil) which barely has any taste at at. And it certainly seems to stave off my hunger on NFD’s. I make around 4 cups of coffee for my husband and I and I add 2 tablespoons of butter and one tablespoon of oil. It works out to a blend of about 1/2 tablespoon butter and 1/4 tablespoon of oil to my cup of coffee so not too many calories on a NFD. (I just drink black coffee on FD’s.)
Hope you’re kicking that cold, EYJ!
Day 10 Los Angeles. NFD. Did a bit of walking. Had a cheeseburger today — first time in at least 4 months. Tasted really good too. Managed to stay under my target weight TDEE so I don’t feel any guilt at all. Kinda stuck at the same weight range — keep losing and regaining the same 2 lbs over and over. But I will stay on course. Wishing strength to us all.
Day 11…UK Nottingham…
Today is a FD and I’m trying to go up to evening meal before eating.
I weighed in this morning at 237.6, a pound up from yesterday but it means in my first full week I have lost 3.4lbs.
Stayed just under my TDEE yesterday which I’m pleased about as the weekends are the hardest.
Good luck Dutch X
I will try to get a bit more exercise in this week, have a good week all x
UK day 11. NFD today. Yesterday’s FD not too bad. Love your mental construct, Back2Future…need something to bolster my resolve, and that seems to me a really positive thing. Enjoyed a big bowl of yogurt seeds and raspberries for breakfast, and resisting a fabulous, sticky piece of toast and honey, so that if I need to have something later with the boy it won’t matter so much.
UK day 11- nearly half way ! FD today and want to get the week off to a good start , putting last week behind me , aiming for fluids only until this evening and then have a nice stir fry, also going to try 3 FDs not sure yet what days as b2b is difficult think I’ll just see when it feels right
Have lots to keep me busy until my midday gym classes were I’ll be doing lots of planks and squats – crab squats are very challenging – hope we give them a miss today, had trouble walking the last time I tried them
Good luck with the interview Dutch – keep us posted
Onwards and downwards x
Australia, day 11, FD
– also a travelling day today and all I’ve had today was weak tea, water, and 1 skinny flat white coffee ( coffee made on part skim milk part water). No web access the last few days. Now 6.45pm and about to have my 1 meal of the day. Won’t know the calories exactly but I’ll try to guesstimate and keep it low cal low GI ingredients with some light protein. Will do some catchup reading later. Hope everyone is going well.
Onwards and Downwards,
Merry
Scotland Day 11
Good god Fuvvie I couldn’t climb a ladder never mind Ben Nevis! Well sticking to plan and I’m getting excited at the scales. I decided to do a FD to day and Wed as it’s a busy week. Plan on a lovely smoothie to start the day at 10 (driving lesson at 12) consists of almond milk, whey protein, chia seeds, flax seeds, banana and peanut butter all around under 190 calories. Vegetable broth for late lunch around 60 cals and I’m still weighing up my options for dinner. Good luck everyone and special thoughts to those of us battling ill health and adversity especially oor Jeannie!
Suurey UK Day 11 Firstly to all who are struggling with illness and other problems..I was put in mind of an ancient ‘prayer’ which goes:
All be happy, All be without disease, may all creatures have well-being and may None be in misery of any sort… putting out positive vibes works when enough people do it.
Thank you Coda and Rocy65 for the birthday wishes, I had a lovely time with family, my grandchildren baked a beautiful cake and got some lovely gifts! Even at 71 its nice to receive gifts! Needless to say, last night we had Chinese and I had too much, (in fact it was what I would have eaten before 5:2) and my word, did I have an uncomfortable night! Today is a very welcome Fast day, and I will weigh tomorrow morning. It is bound to be affected by the weekend shenanigans, but never mind! Today is the first day of my 72nd year, and I intend it to be a year that matters, all the Gods willing!
