  • Day 23 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 80.2kg

Wow there is a lot going on in this thread! Tomorrow is a FD then NFD followed by 3 FDs … It will be interesting to see how it goes. I’m not sure I’ll stick to the plan.

Yesterday I got the munchies and decided to go get some nuts at a store instead of something worse. When I got there they didn’t have the nuts I wanted but I picked up some spicy beef jerky (12g, 34kcal) and a pack of pickled plums (48g, 18kcal). Can’t say I recommend the plums but the jerky was good. Way over salted myself! I still have about 1/2 the packs. So that was an unusual way for me to get past a strong snacking urge. I don’t get those very often anymore. Maybe I’ll keep some of the pickled plums around just to cure the urge to snack. These plums are small and probably not the kind that could be eaten without processing, sort of like huge olives but less tasty.

    Day 22 FD USA, WI

First off, thoughts and prayers to our London folk with today’s events. I watched what happened on the news here with my kids. Just awful. 🙁 Hard talking about that stuff with your kids – you want them to think that their world is safe and secure but no, it’s not. Told the boys though, that even though bad things will always happen, there are always waaay more good people around, ready to help.

I did my first total fast day today, meaning I ate nothing. Just drank coffee, tea, and chicken broth. I felt I needed it after the past two days of giving in to sick-induced carb cravings (and that time of the month, so chocolate cravings too … and crisps cravings, and oh, everything ….) … and it went really, really well. I’ll be ready for bed shortly and I feel very accomplished that I ended the day on a liquid fast. Had a “date-night” with two of my sons, they wanted to order in pizza and breadsticks and I successfully had not a SINGLE BITE. Woo!

I’m going to try for a FD tomorrow, too. I’d like to see how long I can keep this fast going for.

@okeydokey, what a nightmare as a child! Poor thing! And side note, I have twins as well. Identical 10-year old boys.

@snowflake56 – I couldn’t believe when I was reading your post and you so nonchalantly stated that you had a stroke. Like, I ate this and this, oh, by the way I had a mini-stoke, anyways, then I ate this. What a thing to have to deal with, the mini-strokes, and you seem to take it all in stride.

@fatrabbit – just sending love and hugs. You rock.

Add me to the Pocketeers tomorrow – I don’t see a list and don’t want to go back in pages and lose my post.

    Edit: I found the list!

    Day 23 Glasgow NFD

    Day 23 UK FD(D4on800)

I feel good going into the 4th day of the Fast800 trial. Somehow it feels as if it is working. I hope to make some good progress before the end of the month to make up for the stall at the start.

I was able to wear my new trousers yesterday that are 4 sizes smaller than the ones that were too tight when I started intermittent fasting. I have a bought a pair the next size down too to aim at. The renewed progress over the past few days made a difference to the way they fit. They went on weeks ago but were far from comfortable.

It is absolutely bucketing down again. Yesterday was a wash out and the animals didn’t go outside. But I need to clean half of them out today so it had better stop as forecast. It is not so much that I want to stay dry, no doubt I’ll end up soaked and plastered in mud from kneeling down to reach into the hutches anyway as it is the turn of the single story hutches today, that the oldest rabbits live in that can’t cope with jumping upstairs anymore, but that there isn’t much point cleaning them out and then putting in already wet bedding. I want them to have nice cozy beds once I have done them. They also get some of the dry hay to sit on outside while their hutches are drying but that won’t work if it immediately gets soaked. We have some extremely old rabbits here, and it isn’t good for them to have wet feet all the time.

    Day 23 UK FD

My idea today is to eat nothing through the day then eat 100 grams of Salmon and large plate of broccoli tonight. I may do that or may stick to liquid only. At least if I do eat I won’t have to that tiresome calorie counting.

@fatrabbit, well done on getting into your new smaller trousers! A really tangible achievement. It is so heartening the way you look after the animals so well.

    Day 23 – NL – FD

Day 22 / UK / NFD after all
    Day 23 / UK / NFD

I’d like to call yesterday a CD, though only in habit it was, not in calories. The message that food would be involved in the drinks with friends arrived just before lunch and I was seriously considering to just blow it all but instead kept going with soup, tea and no treats. I would have gone all the way to the end, but eventually FD’d until 7.30pm when I ordered a delicious burger with a side of chips. YUM! Bit of a shame because I was feeling myself stepping off the plateau at last and today is one of those dreaded Thursdays again: I’ll try to rein myself in for the doughnut round this morning, maybe sticking to a set number of treats I can have. For next week I am toying with the idea of scheduling a FD on Thursday for the precise reason I was never planning on FDing on a Thursday in the first place. But will have to build up some trust into my willpower first, therefore: maybe next week.

I hope you all have a good day, at 5/600cal or more!

Day 23 Kent, UK, NFD goal 4 lbs this month

I found yesterday’s fast day very hard as I was very worried about No 1 son in central London. Often terrorist attacks are more than one attack point. Evil swine just mowing people down on the bridge. 40 injured and 5 dead is the final count. The trauma of seeing such a thing may ruin lives for years. Young French Tourists (teenagers) were involved amongst others, poor things, just on a day out in London.

Things like this put our own small worries in perspective. I need a few days off the grid. Good Luck to everyone, I will post on 31st and be back with you for April. I will have the same goal of 4 lb loss for April.

    Be kind and be strong.

    Day 23 UK NFD 🌈

A meal out tonight, not going to calorie count, going to Fast all day and then to the gym, and then enjoy lovely meal with friends!

It’s all about balance, have a good day all xx

    DAY 23 – Cumbria UK – FD/CD

Funny day yesterday – did not break my fast from the day before until 1800hrs but then things went a bit haywire – pistachios with a glass of wine followed by a healthy tuna salad with another glass of wine but then a big bowl of ice cream……….what was that all about????

    Fresh day today!!!

    TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER

Day 23 – Staffordshire UK -FD

    Day 23, Newcastle UK, FD

I am feeling so terribly sad for all the people affected in the atrocities yesterday in London. Just last month my OH and I stood on that very bridge – two of many innocent tourists in London. I just can’t comprehend what on earth goes on in the heads of any other human who can do this to others. Where is it going to end.

Yesterday’s 800 cal fast went fine. I am having no trouble sticking to this and like @ratrabbit, I can definitely feel something happening – in a good way. I’m off to my Dad’s now – he’s 78 and lives 45 miles away. We are in the process of selling his bungalow and getting him moved back near us. We thought we’d found something last week, put in an offer, had it accepted, then turned down the next morning because the previous buyers had come back. Anyway, looking at something even more suitable tomorrow morning, so hopefully that will work out. Today I am supervising the overhaul of his garden, getting it in good shape for the new owners.

@snowflake – I’m pleased to hear you are well and in safe hands.

Today our motto of Together we’re Stronger seems even more poignant. Thank you for your friendship through our forum – very much needed and appreciated.

    DAY23 – UK – FD

Day 23 UK NFD taking a few days out as my eldest is home from uni , my youngest (19) is at uni in London and had a restless few hours until I heard from him that he was safe – as someone else said it really puts things in perspective Stay strong all x

    Day 23 – Durham UK – CD
    Day 22 – NFD

Hello again all, and hugs for all those who are themselves or through loved ones affected by this terrible incident in London. Together we are stronger indeed. 🤝

NFD okay yesterday, realised that I was heading towards TDEE so skipped evening meal and had ☕️(Tea) instead. I think that sort of mindfulness is probably the biggest change for me in this WOL. Before, I would’ve told myself that “you NEED to eat an evening meal”, and I probably wouldn’t even have realised what I had eaten up until that point anyway. Now, even though I might still choose to eat something calorific or sugary or high fat on an NFD, I am aware that I am CHOOSING to do that, and I adjust everything else to accommodate it – or I decide it’s not worth it.

Supposed to be FD today, but DH and I are having date night tonight, so I will just fast until 7 and eat normally for tea. Because of that, I’ll be FDing tomorrow too.

So many messages on this thread that, even though I try to read them all, I have trouble remembering to respond or comment to the right person… Anyway, I hope you are all feeling healthier, happier and stronger today, especially with the support of this wonderful group behind you – I know I am!

All my best to all of you. x

    Day 23 – Switzerland – NFD

Definitely soft-pedaling at the moment, as I’m still laid out with this cold, although it’s moving on (can’t hear anything today, so will do a steam inhalation later). Weight is static. Thanks to @at and @scs for your sympathy!

@snowflake56 – wow, you’re the very definition of cool, calm and collected. Wishing you every speed with your recovery.

@dykask – those pickled plums can be so sour, my mouth was watering when I read your post. My all-time saltiest food was a cured sea-urchin roe that we were served as part of a traditional breakfast in a ryokan on Miyajima island – i thought it was a sausage so took a less-than-usually-cautious bite. Wow!

    Day 23 Portugal FD

Thanks for your kind comments @flourbaby … I’m with you on the pain relief. Your mother is very brave!

@fatrabbit I will be thinking of you next week but it really is not as bad as you think. You can’t feel any pain, just a little pressure. But if you’re anything like me, the anxiety beforehand makes the wait a little difficult.

Wishing you a speedy recovery @snowflake.

So I’m making today a FD as I am only allowed cold, liquid food. So it’ll problem be yoghurt, fruit and milk blended into a shake.

    Wishing everyone a good day.

    Day 23, London, UK, NFD

Good FD yesterday, 2nd of my b2b. I was hungry when I got home from work, but watching the news and reading posts crushed my appetite in both good and bad ways. With just over 1 week left of this challenge, I hope everyone is keeping the faith, I’ve had a big whoosh the last 2 days and I’m now 1.1lbs above my March target, however, 1 week ago, I was 4lbs heavier and have been up and down like a yo-yo this month. I took a long hard look at what and when I ate and although there were a few ‘mad carb’ events, overall I was on track, so I kept the faith, believed in this WOL and finally I’m moving in the right direction. To all those feeling despondent………….KEEP THE FAITH!!!! We know this works!!!

    Day 23 – FIN – FD

Returning to my normal FDs (Mon/Thu) starting today.

It’s saddening that this string of terror attacks never seems to cease. Why do people feed their hate/let themselves become brainwashed to the point that they consider themselves justified to end other people’s lives and negatively affect the lives of many, many more? It’s incredible how many lives only one hateful person can damage and end.

    Day 23 Oxfordshire NFD

My appetite is still low, which is a boon. I must be in deep ketosis.

@chumi it is sad. I think they are usually high on drugs when they do these things.

    Day 23 Tas Australia NFD

@snowflake I hope you recover quickly!!

    Day 21 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 22 – CARDIFF UK – FD
    Day 23 – CARDIFF UK – NFD

    Starting Weight : 165.5lbs

    Today’s Weight : 162.5lbs (3.0 lb) March Target 8. 5lbs

Well March target seems to be out of sight now, but in a better place than was at the start of the week.

I’ve been pretty good, only one take away over what I should have had, but last week FD just didn’t seem to be doing what they should.

2 good liquid FD under my belt this week have put things back on track, and now taking so many supplements to help with my hypothyroidism that I’m beginning to rattle. Let’s hope they all do the trick and that I start converting my meds properly and they can do the job they’re supposed to.

Bit of a stressful week at home, OH fell again early hours of Tuesday morning so waiting for an hour for help to arrive to lift him at 3am not the best way to start a FD. He’s even more wobbly than usual and if he bangs his head the result could be fatal as he has a hole in his skull and is not properly covered with skin. As a result we’ve had to cancel his daily carers as he’s too scared he will fall when they’re helping him. Now trying to arrange double handed calls and see if we can get a hoist sorted. I’m confined to barracks until we can get things in place as I can’t leave him on his own for more than 15 minutes.

I know stress can adversely affect weight loss, so feel I’m fighting an uphill battle at the moment, but need to keep at it so I can keep fit enough to care for OH.

Thoughts with anyone effected by yesterday’s attack in London, and inspired by the attitude of everyone who doesn’t let these mindless attacks stop them from carrying on as normal. We need to be careful and vigilant, but we must not let terrorists affect how we choose to live our lives.

    Day 23 Melbourne NFD
    Stay strong UK friends xxx
@snowflake all the very best wishes for your health – a good recovery, and soon.
    @pashaw hang in there

    Day 23…..Florida….. NFD

I’m still trying to catch up with all the posts, but time is keeping me on a short leash. I hoping by the weekend, I’ll be able to join you all on the right day…..

Couple things…… Has Fuvvie posted lately and I just missed her?
Thank you to the gem who posted Dr. M article from the Mail. You saved me from having to search for it.
Maybe it’s just me but eating 800 calories instead of 500 scares the crap out of me! I’m a if it’s not broken don’t try fix it type of girl and 500 calories works for me…..
Wow, it seems like this last week, this thread has exploded with tons of new smiling faces. Welcome to all the new comers!

It was so nice to have a FD yesterday, funny as it sounds I really missed it. I could still be recouping from traveling but I slept darn good last night! So, besides the weight going back down the FD does this body good!

When I got home from work, I did some much needed gardening. My potatoes and some eggplants were ready for harvesting. It’s so nice to have good food picked from your own back yard. Now the search is on for a good eggplant receipe….. I’ll take suggestions, if you got them. Nothing with bread crumbs please.

Okay, well, time for my second cup of coffee and get ready for work……

    Peace be with you!

    Day 23 – London – NFD

@snowflake56 – happy to hear you have it all under control. I hope you find your S soon!Sounds like a challenge to find alternative words without S in them! Wishing you a speedy and full recovery.

Thanks all for your messages re the London incident. I am working in Victoria, just a few streets away from Westminster and I must say the security around here is very high with good police presence and has been that way for the past few years. I always feel safe, knowing that our security services are constantly working to prevent incidents like this and we all try to be vigilant. Such a shock for everyone here and especially sad when a policeman is lost and young ones affected.

Had a great NFD yesterday though likely 600 cals after a couple of bites of chocolate/easter egg stolen from OH(and thoroughly enjoyed). The scales looked good this morning and feeling happy and light.

@fatrabbit, congrats for getting into those trousers! Such a great feeling! I have actually bought some new lovely jeans a couple of weeks ago and felt so happy to put them on comfortably and feel good in them. Also, those lucky old bunnies! In my next life I’d like to come back as one of your bunnies!!

@pashaw, sorry to hear about your OH taking a fall, he is lucky to have you there caring for him so well. Wishing him a fast recovery and hope he can get his confidence back soon.

Good luck to all today, may we all stay strong and mindful in our food choices and enjoy every one of those choices too!

    Day 23, London, FD
    Day 21 & 22 NFD

Thanks for all your messages of support re the atrocity in London yesterday. My son drives in London everyday and was passing through Westminster just 2 hours beforehand. He’s safe and ok.

Fasting is going ok. I’m beginning to think less about the lack of food on FDs. I’m not very good about preparing food (hence my being obese and needing to lose fat) so I’m surviving FDs on porridge, fruit and yoga/ballet concept.

It’s mother’s day on Sunday. I hope I don’t go overboard on the eating/chocolate treats!

    UK Day 23 FD

    Thanks for the comment @okeydokey

The weight has dropped off at a pace since I started the 5 fast day (5×24 hour fasts with a 500-700kcal evening meal Mon-Thurs, and mix of tea and coffee [both with a drop of milk], water, peppermint tea. I’m losing over 1kg a week on average. I don’t count calories at the weekend, and allow myself a big meal on the Friday evening. Exercising in a fasting state is easier than I thought and seems to help a lot in terms of fat loss, as well as getting fitter.

5-7 more weeks of this then I’ll switch to 4:3 to lose the rest of what I need to lose. I can’t quite believe how well this works if you stick at it. I’m planning to treat myself to a whole new wardrobe soon. All bar a couple of my shirts and jumpers are quite baggy now, and starting to look ridiculous. I’ve sent some to Charity this week, with more on the way.

Take care fasters. Keep on, keeping on… 🙂

    Day 23 West Midlands, UK…….FD

    Day 3 of 5:2

FD for me today. The sun’s out and it’s quite warm ! Yay !

    Day 22- Montreal- NFD
    Day 23- Montreal- FD

Am going to do FD,NFD,FD,NFD,FD from today to Monday to try and undo some of the damage/self sabotage that occurred this week.

Day 23 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD

    Happy Friday Eve!!

    Day 23 – USA – FD

Starting my 4th B2B FD. So far so good. I definitely think there is a spiritual component to practicing fasting. By being calm and letting things go that might normally bother me, makes fasting easier.✨
Yesterday I had an avocado 🥑 and a cucumber. The avocado tasted extraordinary!✨😊

Day 23, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Today’s weight 142.6, below goal weigh of 145.

Made it through my three fasting days (500 calories or less each day, nothing to eat before 7 each night) – feel great, probably won’t eat anything until mid day today. Lots of water, lots of exercise. Hope to get in some yardwork today. Hubby bought a new Polaris Ranger 500 side by side so we will have some fun with that!

Continued prayers for our dear friends across the pond.

Day 23 – USA (Illinois) FD

I’m going to do a FD today to lose the 2# that just seem to be hanging on keeping me at 162 for several days. Oh how easy it is to gain weight! It might take a couple FD’s to get back to my 160 maintenance. So, I am joining you pocketeers today.

Hugs and prayers to all you UK peeps – terrorism rears its ugly head again. Our international community fully understands how awful it really is.

    Day 23 – Cumbria UK – NFD – 2nd post

Thinking about all those affected in London yesterday – hope none of our group were affected?

@johnnyr – GREAT JOB – so much positiveness is paying off big time for you
@fuvvie – how are you? hope you are finding the space you needed – drop a line to let us know that you are keeping well xx

@curlytot – are you still happy to take up the reins in April – IF NOT – Is there someone on the forum who is willing/happy to pick up as APRIL’S organiser whose role is to keep a “daily attendance” roster and offer support as able. (providing a spreadsheet is not essential unless you are a bit nerdy like me about it)

    Day 23 FD
Add my prayers to the many for London. I have been thinking about the beauty of an international group of support(such as ours) in a time when there are many who would foster hate and division. We are indeed stronger together.

I’m planning a day of (hopefully) low key exercise for my fast day. Thursday’s are a big teaching day for me, with one Nia class (cardio dance), 3 yoga classes of various levels of intensity, a feldenkrais class, and “auditioning” a new Zumba teacher for my studio, so I need to add a Zumba class in. Needless to say, it’s a lot for a FD, but it keeps me busy!

Thoughts for a good day for all fasters and non-fasters today!

    DAy 23 FD Syracuse USA

Schedule got off a bit this week. Didn’t end up fasting Monday. Stick to today though.
    2questions:
Does anyone do the fast exercise? (I do)
Anyone with bad cholesterol find that fasting helped your cholesterol? My husband has very high bad cholesterol 186! And he’s young and not overweight. He did fast with me two years ago but he refuses to do it with me this go-round.

And also my thoughts and prayers to all our friends in London. Was very concerned and hope everyone is all right.

    Day 23 Maine FD

Good morning all – nearing the end of our Florida vacation….sad to leave this wonderfully warm weather to go back to Maine where huge mounds of snow are still holding court! Oh well, as my mother used to say “must do is a great master”.

Had a lovely dinner last night – chicken piccata w/a small Caesar salad – one roll. Took most home – didn’t eat pasta. Capers were delicious – but, feel rather puffy this morning….hope that goes away w/FD.

@bert1802 – one of our favorite eggplant recipes is the ratatouille in Joy of Cooking – yummy – lots of veggies from the garden. Good work pushing “reset”.

Make it a great day everybody! Stay strong & kind!

    Day 23 – USA – NFD

Day 23, Rocky Mountains, US, FD (800cal)

    Hi friends,

4th day on 800 cal. I really like it. In the thread I see that @fatrabbit, @coda, @strawberriesandcream also comment positively about this. The most important thing is that I can stick with it. Also, I think it is important what food these 800 cal are.
For me yesterday, it was steamed cruciferous veggies, half an avocado, 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 thin slices of Black Forest ham, salsa, hot sauce. Then Greek yoghurt, 2 cups of strawberries, a cup of blueberries topped with Ghiradelli cocoa powder (no sugar). I also had three cups of popcorn. With that lots of liquid.
    This was plenty!!!
    I also do 16:8! Food window 10am to 6pm.

My thoughts are with London!!! 😢😢😢

Have a great day my friends!!!

    Hello UK day 23 BSD

@pashaw – hugs – hope you and OH get the support you need quickly.

@bert – Fuvvie did post but is taking some time out.

AT – lol I was on my phone and noticed it had auto correct OH to one. My big 60 is in May!!

I can join the twin club too tho mine are coming 22 next month – both boys.

Day 4 of my experiment and so far still good. I have had my Kefi and chia pudding for lunch – will have to make more up as I found it really nice. I am off to hairdressers after work and then the twins have a parents night at their young farmers club. They usually have a supper of sandwiches and as long as I am sensible I can still enjoy a cup of tea and sandwich as I won’t have had anything else. Its the tray bakes I will find hard to resist!

Weight this morning now a little less than my starting weight for March which is encouraging.

    Day 22 – FD
    Day 23 – FD

Quite tired today. Fasting definitely makes me need extra sleep. And sadly my fire alarm decided to go off at 3am due to low batteries and ceiling to high for me to change them.

Someone asked if i was losing weight today! Was really happy about it, although my mind cant help telling me it was just the outfit i was wearing.
    Avoiding the scales until saturday.

    Good luck everyone!

    Day 23 – USA – FD

@pashaw My heart goes out to you and your OH. I’m glad to read that you have carers that help sometimes. It must be so stressful. I’m pretty sure you are a much stronger person than I am. Getting the weight off does help with getting around. Do you have someone that can come to your house that is supportive of you?
    Congrats finishing 3 FD’s! ✨@lindasue
    @songbirdme ✨keep strong✨Have a great FD!
✨If anybody is interested, I found that homeopathic remedy Bioplasma Sport replenishes my electrolytes and helps keep muscles going strong.

☀️Warm Wishes for All in our group!☀️✨

Day 24 ( minus 3 minutes so calling it day 24 !!) NFD Country West Australia

Thanks AT for looking out for us all.
STILL having computer issues – just spent ages trying to contact my ISP to no avail.
Had a couple of good FDs this week so back on track with a vengeance. Had a good 48 hours fasting and thinking of continuing to lunchtime tomorrow as not feeling at all hungry but will see how I wake up.

3 of my friends are now doing 5:2 and have got the book etc and are VERY enthusiastic. 2 have lost kilos already and are very happy and finding it relatively easy. The third one struggling a bit but happy with the WOL and enjoying feeling less full all the time. That’s one thing I really enjoy, the feeling of giving my body a rest from constantly processing food.
Doing some more exercise this month but the hula hoop isn’t staying up any longer than a couple of rotations!!

    Day 23-Georgia/USA-FD

    Day 23 – Brittany, France – NFD

    Day 23, Germany, NFD

    Dear all of you,

@jojo58 is so right, seeing all the horror that’s going on the world, our own problems really aren’t as big as we see them ourselves. Most of them can be solved. We are so privileged compared to the ones forced to be fleeing from their homes, not knowing where they will end up or will survive at all.

@pashaw how are you coping, it’s hard, when your DH is so scared to move, hoping help is on the way. I wished I could send you a part of my calmness.

@coda I’m far behind with reading the posts, on page 14 now. How is your Dad doing after the operation, is he still able to chew and swollow (here speaks the nurse)

@erika45 how is the pain after yesterday’s dentist’s visit?

Thanks to everyone wishing me a good recovery. Everything is stable, no progess but it will come. It doesn’t help me to panic, it has been worse, but I as long as we don’t know what triggers it, it will come and go. It doesn’t hurt, it’s more irritating that I can’t do whatever I want for a while, not piano, no exercise. But I’m an optimist, I will be fine again. I’m mentally very stable and have a wonderful husband who will ask me the s-question every morning, I never should have told him.

So, enough of this. Going on to the nice part: We’re trying the new Konjac noodles today with lots of fresh vegetables. They don’t look very attractive, kind of slimy, but we’ll be covering them with the other things.

Is there a list of the fasters tomorrow? If not, I would like to start one.
