  • Day 21 – USA (Illinois) – NFD (CD for sure)

    Quick post. Busy day yesterday but a very good night’s sleep. It certainly seems I add a pound or two following my Silver Sneakers class, and it held true again. Who knows why? Rhetorical question, but if anyone has a theory, I am willing to read it!

    @fatrabbit – your story is so compelling as many recognize how universal it seems. Indeed, you are a survivor and able to move forward in positive steps. That is terrific and amazing.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 21|Toronto|CD/NFD
    OK FD yesterday but I am disappointed by my 85.2 K ongoing plateau.

    Day 21 USA-WA FD
    I’ve been trying out AFDs, which is working well for me. Here’s to staying busy on FD and enjoying the lighter feel I have in my body!

    Day 21 Chicago Illinois USA – NFD

    Day 21 NFD St Louis USA
    Weight today 144.4. Down another lb. Woo! Woo!

    Good luck to today’s fasters.

    UK
    Day 20 – NFD
    Day 21- NFD

    Ended up having dinner out last night so it became a 1000cals day instead of a FD. Not to worried about it though.
    Today i have enjoyed some toblerone but eating healthy overall. Eating homemade soup makes me feel so virtuous 🙂
    It might be my imagination but my waist feels slimmer – i definitely dont feel as bloated as i did a month ago *thumbs up*

    Day 21: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD/CD…my current regime!

    Three days in a row of eating breakfast at 6am before work and lunch at about 2pm, after work and then nothing til the following morning. No calorie-counting, but healthy-ish choices.
    I feel my weight may be drifting slightly downwards (too early to say) with a fasting window of about 15 hours in every 24.
    I just can’t do all-day fasting at present, I’m afraid, but I’m feeling ok about what I AM doing.

    I’ll try and catch up with reading posts later.
    Good luck all today’s fasters xx

    Day 21 Surrey UK FD

    Attempting another FD today 😱 OK so far but really hungry this morning.

    Day 21 Maine NFD

    Good Morning All! Fabulous FD yesterday – lost a little patience w/hubby @Publix (grocery store) where we ran in for a big vat of water & he felt like going up & down all the aisles – lingering particularly in the bakery section debating scones vs turnovers! He forgot I was deep into fasting. I didn’t kill him – walked away & grabbed a bottle of water! Simple salad w/chicken for dinner. Rewarded w/a big loss….happy to announce have made my 3 lb weight goal for March! Now weighing 185. Fretted about it yesterday….now I need to maintain it …or better yet, lose another pound! Very proud of myself, but also know NFD can be challenging, if not disastrous!

    One of my motivators for losing is related to work. I’m trying to decide if I want to request a 4 day work week – sometimes after standing on my feet all day at the front desk, I come home unable to move one more step. I want to work – really like my job – meet lots of interesting people from all over – but, I want to have energy to have a life after work. I realized that I couldn’t honestly assess if it’s time to shorten my week unless I lose weight. Work is looming – start back mid-April…so, anxious to lose & keep it off. One thing I can say – my energy has definitely increased – have to see how my feet do.

    @fatrabbit – I think you’re an amazing – good work all around – physically, mentally & taking care of those sweet little bunny souls!

    Thanks to everybody for share & support. Make it a great day!

    Day 21 – USA – FD

    Hey All,
    Wishing you a good, peaceful day😊 I’m still going through the posts, about half way to the end. It is great reading and it’s helping my FD to go smoother. ✨

    @jojo58 I don’t check the scales very much. Basically at the beginning of the month and end of the month. When I try this new thing I’m trying (fasting for 5 days and 6 nights) I weighed myself before the FD’s and I will weigh myself Saturday morning. Just so I can keep tabs on if it’s worth the 5 day fast.😂 I understand myself enough to know that the weight could very well fluctuate during this week and that I would possibly be discouraged by looking at the weight on the scales. Maybe by next month I will know what works for me and I might only weigh at the beginning and end of the month. I love the information and tips you have been providing @jojo58 Thank-you✨

    Welcome @priya121 This week 3 day fast😊 I like to go the 3 days because that 3rd day for me is where even more fat-burning and detoxing take place. @jojo58 mentioned drinking water every 1/2 hour to help with metabolism and to have energy for walking, bowling. So I’ve been doing that as well. ✨Good luck to you!✨

    @gopackgo Wishing you well✨ I hope your back and neck feel better soon! ✨🤞✨Ideas?!? Epsom salts soak, going to a chiropractor, Hot pad. ✨ What does WOL mean?

    @songbirdme ✨Congratulations🎉on holding at 160#✨

    @helenalee FD for me today also 🤞✨🤞Your doing awesome on your FD’s Good luck to you! ✨ my big goal is to lose enough to be 131 lbs. by June. I know I have a lot to lose. But I am determined, basically because fasting is already helping with my anxiety and hypertension, I still have a bit to go with my ear pain and Lyme disease but I feel like it’s helping with the pain and lethargy.
    @krisnia walking away from treats, that’s not easy to do! Congratulations🎉
    @redrockgirl302 FD’s at 800 cals. till Friday. That sounds like a great plan👍I hope it works out well for you!✨
    @suse13 from the BBC Dr. Mosley video, I understand that 1st day losing is excess carbs, 2nd day is fat burning, 3rd day is latent diseases and diseased type proteins, viruses and pathogens. The body gets a rest from the acids and generates healing hormones. If you haven’t had much carbs to begin with, it might possibly speed the process up to start burning fats on the late afternoon after starting the fast the night before.

    I hope you can pull this link up. For the information about the scientific results about what happens during fasting ff to the middle of the video. 👍

    @tillergirl

    Hi there,
    How fantastic that you live on a narrow boat, although I expect that is a lot of hard work.

    This is a real coincidence because hubby and I had a narrow boat for about ten years when we were working and it was our escape from everything. There is nothing quite like sailing into Gas Street Basin in your own boat in the pouring rain !!

    Anyway to other things. I see that you have a FD today. Do you have your fast days planned in advance like M W F etc ? I know today is Tuesday and that doesn’t quite make sense. Good luck with today. For me, it has got easier as I have gone along and checking in here and reading the posts has helped a lot.

    All best

    Day 21 – USA – FD

    @erikaa67 I also think it is awe inspiring also that we have people from around the world in this group, reaching out, sharing and supporting each other.
    @dykask sounds like you are getting real with yourself and also willing to be flexible to get to your goal! Kudos 👏👏 to you. Good luck on your journey!
    @steffieagle Can we change lives? 😂 Walking on the beach sounds awesome! It’s a good day to fast😊
    @flourbaby I received the magnesium oil that I ordered last week. For 2 nights now, I have been able to go to sleep without having a snack. So I’m able to follow the no eating for 3 hours before bed on the NFD’s. I also slept more soundly. My abdomen feels less tense also. ✨✨Thank-you for the information. ✨😊
    @suse13 You can do this fast day! ✨✨✨
    @schatziii Thank-you for sharing the positive mental and physical effects you’ve been experiencing. Remember to drink the water.
    @tillergirl Wishing you well on your 3 day fast. 👍😊

    Pissupoosa:
    Good to see you! I wondered where you were.

    Day 21, Rocky Mountains, US, FD

    Hi everybody,

    Yesterday was the first FD at 800 cal and it went well. It suits me to have a few more calories to use. Cool 😎 to have a few of my friends @strawberriesandcream, @coda, and perhaps @fatrabbit, with me checking it out.😊⚘😊

    Thanks @okeydokey for your wishes for success of this experiment.😊

    Have a great day everyone!!!🌷🌷🌷

    Day 21- NFD- Norfolk VA.

    Day 21, Germany, FD

    @lynzm I’m doing great, how are you doing?

    Were on the hunt for Konjac noodles today, 4 stores, nowbody ever heard of it. Emden is too small for extravagant food. We were in Groningen (90 km) to get our meat from the market, free range chicken and pork, we also foung the head and carcass of a large cod-fish. DH is going to cut out the cheeks so that we can eat them with spinach tonight. The rest will be broth.

    How are all the fasters doing?

    Tomorrow I’ll start reading all the posts from the beginning to know you all a little better.

    Day 21 – USA – NFD

    Day 21 – Durham UK -FD

    Catch up –
    Day 17, 18, 19 – NFD
    Day 20 – CD

    This morning I finally broke through 85kg – 84.4! YES!!!

    I have been really struggling the last few days. I’ve got a lot going personally, and feeling very upset. I don’t deal well with uncertainty, (I’m very action-oriented) and right now I feel adrift and out of control. TBH, the diet is the only thing that feels certain – although on NFDs the emotional eating is sometimes getting the best of me.

    Apologies for being out of the loop so long, and I hope you have all been making great strides with your own journeys.

    Onwards and downwards, my friends!

    Day 20 Nfd, Day 22 FD, canada

    @songbird I am not familiar with the silver sneakers workout, but know that any exercise causes minor muscle damage. The body will then repair the damage and that process brings water to the damaged tissues with the resultant weight gain. That extra lb should dissappear soon.

    @saffie I can relate to everything you are saying!

    Stay strong fasters.

    Day 21 – SW WA USA – FD

    Pissupoosa I’ll add you to today’s pocket group

    Adding to the 21st FD:

    @micheleas
    @snowflake56
    @okeydokey
    @fayefaye
    @annemarilyn
    @pissupoosa

    Okeydokey – WOL means way of life; WOE means Way of eating.

    Notmyrealname – congrats on breaking 85Kgs. What is TBH?

    Today is day 2 of a B2B. I’m off to a conference in Seattle after school today – Wed through Saturday. There’ll be a lot of food around. I’m still thinking of at least doing 16:8 days if possible; going with coffee or tea in the morning and skipping the conference breakfast. Any conference suggestions?

    Day 21- Cumbria UK – FD

    Yesterday was the first day of Spring in the UK and today I woke up to snow on top of the Fells!! went for my usual group walk and we had lovely blue skies and sunshine, then overcast and lots of hail and a temperature drop down to 3 degrees!!! Now I’m back home to more sunshine but cloud cover coming in……..

    I needed a good walk and fresh air this morning after drinking too much wine last night……..but it was lovely evening catching up with an old friend – not too much food but certainly the wine flowed as did the chat!!! So a good FD is required today.

    Cobwebs well and truly blown away and plenty of water and tea with a dash of skimmed milk has been consumed already – not feeling hungry but have planned a 400 cal supper tonight after my late yoga class (moved from my usual Monday evening)

    @K- Lo – welcome back – I thought we had lost you from the challenge as we had not heard from you since Day 3 – I have added you back to the spreadsheet! How have you been doing since we last heard from you – hope all is well? Keep posting
    @scs – totally agree with @SongBirdie “a month with vacation and maintaining is a good month”
    @onahealthyhigh – what a great feeling to be able to say that you “can’t afford to lose more weight”. Like you even though I have been maintaining since Dec 2016 I still do 2xFD a week for the benefits of fasting, and to ensure that I don’t lose anymore I no longer count calories so rigidly on my NFDs. I look forward to hearing how you get on with the 800cal days – I actually enjoy having one of my FDs as a water FD each week – it’s a real reset button especially after an indulgent weekend!
    @okeydokey – love to read your posts – you come across as such a positive person and it’s great to see that shine through your comments
    @ciren2 – Great job – Hugs
    @debster251 – have a brilliant time in the USA with your friends
    @goldensun @monkeydo and @and… exhale – hope you all feel better soon
    @pamie – I’m assuming you meant Day 21 FD not Day 22??
    @arvandee – GOOD LUCK for the new job not that you need it – sounds like you are mentally strong and prepared
    @dykask – as usual I find your posts really stimulating to read and totally agree with you on this latest
    @fatrabbit – never apologise for expressing any thoughts on this forum – as you saw there is a lot of understanding and support for you – you are an amazing woman who is much stronger than she gives herself credit for – remember that you are on this journey for you and no one else
    @pissupoosa – so great to hear from you. 1 FD/wk is good – don’t put yourself down for it! There is usually a pocket fast going most days as we are such a large group and you can tag yourself to any day you want and we will hold on to you very tight – keep posting and good luck for the exams x
    @schatziii – you are very welcomed but Im purely the host for this month and it has been a real joy doing this role. I’m so happy for you that this WOL seems to agree with you – those of us who have been doing it for a year or more find that fasting brings a whole range of health benefits apart from the weight loss
    @sarah57 – thank you for sharing your story in response to @Dysack’s post – this forum makes us realise that we are not alone
    @saffy420 – what a great feeling having a happy dance when those trousers fit! Go you!
    @fayefaye – I’m in sympathy with you having over indulged with the vino last night but a FD is just what we both need so hold tight and we will do this
    @august2024 – stay strong and positive – maybe try doing something a bit different for a change to see if that gets things moving in the downward mode again….
    @scs – Well done you for not killing hubby……LOL and for that weight loss!
    @notmyrealname – well done on breaking that barrier!!!! I’m so glad that you can find support here with whatever is causing you to struggle in you personal life – we are like a little family always available for support – Hugs
    @redrockgirl302 @strawberriesandcream @coda, and perhaps @fatrabbit – We are all looking forward to hear how you get on with you 5 x 800cal FDs this week – keep us posted

    @endellion @yorkmom and @tillergirl – Welcome on board for the rest of the 31 Day March 2017 Challenge – we are a big and friendly group with everyone at different stages of their 5:2 WOL and some on maintenance as well. Share as much or as little as you feel like but you will have great support here. It would be helpful for me if you could start your daily post with the day of the month, where you are, and if you are doing a FD (Fast day) or a NFD (Non Fast Day). Example today for me would be Day 21 – Cumbria UK – FD. Add more to your daily post or not as you please. If you don’t sign in daily then just update at the start of your post whether each day since you last signed in was a FD or NFD – makes updating the spreadsheet a bit easier – Thanks

    The forum has been so busy and as I only managed to catch up once yesterday I decided to put in a sterling effort and read all the posts since I last logged on and update the spreadsheet.
    My goodness so much to catch up with and so much sharing and words of support and advice given across the globe. As we have said before this is like a second family to all of us where we can tell each other things we may not have been able to share before and we know that we will find someone who will understand and support will be given with no judgement – how wonderful is that!

    @annemarilyn – I would think that TBH is “to be honest”

    I have added everyone who is doing a FD today 21st March to the list started by @snowflake – TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER

    Day 22 – NZ – FD

    Day 21 NFD USA WI

    Under the weather, still slight fever, slept a lot. Not worrying about a FD today. I wanted toast with peanut butter and tea, and I had it. Gotta be kind to myself today, I work on my feet all night tonight.

    Good luck to all today on your journey.

    Day 21, FD, USA
    so much easier these FD’s are, even doing them every-other day. (ADF). Knowing what I am going to have when I break this FD at 5:30pm gives me more control. I’m going to do that each time — plan ahead, so thank you ladies for that tip. Or else, I’m tempted to eat everything in sight as soon as my hand opens that refrigerator….

    fayfaye: you are a foodie, indeed. I wish I could hire you as my personal chef durin this IF journey, as your FD meals sound so decadent. I usually pile a few things on that total 400 calories. I love that you make each meal so lovely. inspirational.

    Day 21, Cumbria UK, nfd

    2nd Post

    Haven’t managed a FD today so NFD for me. I blew it on biscuits 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have however kept under 1000 calories for the day so am happy with that.

    Hi UK day 21 FD or should that be BSD?

    @dykask – I don’t believe anyone would take offence at an honest post – its why people on this thread are here and opening up about things they may have carried for a long time inside.

    @fatrabbit – think of this journey not only to get your health on track but to begin to enjoy life in general. Sounds like the people who should have cared and nurtured let you down big time – have obviously problems of their own. You are amazing and don’t you forget it!

    @pissupossa – Hello how nice to hear from you again – its like an old friend who you bump into again lol

    @august2024 – Stick with it!

    @notmyrealname – well done – hugs x

    @flourbaby – ingredients ordered for my magnesium oil – thanks

    @ciren2 – at a rough estimate what are your calories for breakfast and lunch – you may be surprised? Yesterday I decided I would try the BSD with 800 calories a day. I had soup to start and had a small plate of chilli con carne the only thing I didn’t’ weigh was the chilli sauce but even if it was over the 100g and even if the calories were not 100% accurate I was still well below my 800. Had I not calculate everything I would not have known. So while I understand you not wanting to count calories, maybe do it for a day or two just to check.

    I had a shot glass of Kefir this morning, and took someones idea and made a chia seed and kefir pudding with some berries and homemade apple sauce (no sugar) with a little added honey (thank you) which I had for my lunch, it was lovely and knowing it was healthy is a bonus. Will have homemade soup before I go to class. So not sure what the kefir adds up to but I don’t think it would be 581? So would appear to be another good day. Just need to up my water intake more – will have to set my timer as reminders. So far 5 days seem doable!

    Have a good day everyone x

    @inittothinit – here’s the Silver Sneakers exercise class webpage. We do a Circuit regimen. https://www.silversneakers.com/learn/classes/ Thanks so much for your advice about the temporary weight gain after exercise. I’m 68 and really don’t do anything terribly strenuous. Even when I ski, it is a leisurely experience, nothing aggressive!

    Day 21 Portugal NFD

    Haven’t been doing great today…nibbling a bit. Worried about tooth extraction tomorrow. At least I will not be feeling like eating much! So making tomorrow a FD. I will have a light lunch and then off to the dentist.

    Day 21 – USA – FD

    @annemarilyn Thanks for the info. You asked or Conference suggestions 😊For 6 years now our immediate family has been gluten free. So we each have had a lot of practice at avoiding the wheat gluten, which is in most if not all of the donuts. Hopefully they’ll have healthy alternatives; like eggs, tomatoes, fruit.🍓 coffee or tea is always great. I try to remember to ring some packets of Stevia (a healthy sugar substitute) ✨I’m Wishing you well!👍

    @at I’m blushing and what a wonderful, nice thing to say😊
    Ok it’s pretty obvious I have a thing for emoji’s. I hope it isn’t getting on anybody’s nerves to bad. I think it’s an obsession really 😏😂

    @notmyrealname I understand what you are saying, about the other parts of my life feeling uncertain. I have to make some much needed appts. for dental surgery. I have PTSD from a young age of being tied down, with a cover over my face. While the doctor stitched up my lip and gums without using any novocaine or anesthesia.😰Needless to say it took 3 other people to hold me down for the 40 minutes it took to hold me down and stitch me up. All the while the doctor, told me in a loud voice how terrible I was, because the boy before me did not flinch or yell at all…. wow, I honestly did not plan to talk about that today. But none the less that is why I feel out of control lately. That and the fact that our twins are turning 16 this April. Having a regular fasting and NFD CD has helped me to feel better physically and mentally. I also have a really good meditation, (hypnosis, kind of) technique to help in feeling balanced and to let painful feelings go.

    For you @notmyrealname Pin pointing what you feel uncertain about is a great way to getting more understanding. I hope 🤞 this helps. Hope your FD evening goes well!✨

    @gopackgo Be good to yourself✨ We each have a choice of how we walk our paths. You are on the healthy path and that’s what matters.✨

    OK I’m talking more today than usual. Coping mechanism😊

    @erikaa67 only a few more hours to go😊 You can do it!🤞👍

    ✨✨Together We are Stronger😊✨✨

    @erika45 I hope everything goes well for you at the dentist tomorrow 😊 I hope and trust that it will go smoothly. 👍

    Congrats SCS!! Keep up the good work!

    Good afternoon everyone – I’ve been away for a few months but am back and ready to participate again. For this month, i don’t want to make extra work for the record keeper so i will simply lurk, post and get ready for next month.

    But wanted to say hello to everyone again.
    Am having a successful FD so far!

    Hello Everyone!!

    Day 21 Massachusetts USA FD

    FD should have been yesterday but changed it today because it just did not fit with my plans for the day yesterday. Once again this is why I love this WOL so much, the flexibility. I am, for the second week in a row, a little concerned about weighing myself tomorrow morning. I really do not count calories on my NFDs and think that I may have overdone it in the last week. Only time will tell.

    2nd post

    Haven’t read back, just this page, catch up when I am in bed.

    Konjac noodle/rice/ pasta are available on line from Amazon or Health Food Stores. One whole pack is 8 calories and they are used in place of carbs. Very filling, great stir fried with Mediterranean veg and prawns. Might want to add a bit of home made chilli sauce. (Bottle sauces can be 40 % sugar) it is not recommended to exceed 5 grams of sugar per serving. Some yogurts are surprisingly high in sugar content too which is why I have just started making my own. So easy and cheap. I flavoured last one with rhubarb and Ginger, yummy.

    Discussing the ‘weighing or not weighing debate’ I don’t want to get peop,e to bury their heads in the sand but I don’t like to think of people being ‘distressed unnessearily’ by scale evidence which actually may NOT reflect the truth. Water and food retention can cause up to 4 lbs discrepancy in weight. If you are taking tablets for inflammation, allergy, sleep, pain etc this can cause even higher fluid retention and constipation. Be kind to yourselves, trust your feelings and knowledge of your own eating habits.

    Fasting tomorrow- don’t you just love this way of life?

    Day 22/FD/Melbourne Aus

    3rd day @ 800 calories.

    Still not sure if the 800 calorie approach is working for me. Rather then one meal of approx 500 calories on a FD, I’ve been following a 16:8 pattern. Lunch consisted of a tomato salad with bocconcini followed by a homemade chicken soup with loads of veg and a portion of barley. Frankly I’m feeling stuffed this morning but not bloated if that makes sense. Not quite the lightness I like after a fast day. Today’s plan is no added carbs and vegetarian.

    @coda re-read Dr M’s article. Along with the suggestion to follow an 800 calorie/day approach for rapid weight loss he tweaked 5:2 with an emphasis on eating a Mediterranean style LCHF diet on all days. He no longer mentions ‘eat normally’ on NFDs. This is pretty much how I eat and probably the way I’ll maintain.

    Thanks for all the inspirational posts. @at says it all. Onwards and downwards.

    Hello again,
    @annemarilyn thank you for adding me to the fasters’ list. Today wasn’t an FD for me. I will be starting tonight. The aim is to keep going till Thu AM (36h).

    @ciren @at @coda thank you all for the encouraging words. I didn’t mean to keep away completely for this long but work and revision together got pretty hectic. It’s nice to see/read all the familiar names again 🙂

    It’s great to see this thread/series going strong for this long. I’ve got my work cut out for May :-p

    Will update again tomorrow. Night all x

    @ jojo58 thanks,I never order anything online, I’m not an Internet fan. We will look for the Konjac noodles in the Health Food Store tomorrow, we have just one here in Emden. On Saturday we’re going to Groningen (Netherlands) again, so if we don’t find the noodles here tomorrow,we will try it overthere.

    @snowflake56, we have them here under ‘pasta zero’ and ‘shirataki noodles’ – we find them with soy items if that helps at all. i love love love them!
    i’ve also been adding in Cauliflower rice. i buy it prepackaged but i have a friend that likes to chop her own… i make too much of a mess for that.
    but the shirataki noodles and cauliflower rice have been an absolute life saver for me!

    Day 21 UK FD

    Ok that was entirely doable having 800 calories for a second day in a row so I am going to go for the rest of the week and then perhaps see if I want to keep it up or go back to ADF. So I am now definitely part of the trial. I really want to see more results. Today I mashed a carton of kidney beans with a chili and some sugar snap peas and a few cherry toms for a late lunch at 2ish – about 350 cals and then a huge salad of purple and white cabbage, a carrot, a pepper, an apple, a few baby beetroot and 100 cals worth of ricotta topped with chili powder. That lot came in under the 450 I had left. I didn’t have time to cook as I am still short a volunteer and had masses of work to do. I feel quite full and am not even tempted by the chocolate my son brought me today a week after I had a weak moment and asked him to get me some. I am not going to eat it just because if I don’t he will. If I eat it I will want more tomorrow and all that willpower getting rid of the cravings would be wasted as well as my BSD experiment being ruined.

    March 22. Dy 22. NFD Sydney Australia
    Yesterday March 21 FD. Did it under 500 Calories.
    Went to a HIIT class this morning (High Intensity Interval Training) and felt fine – plenty of energy. That is one unexpected benefit of the 5:2. I am actually feeling more energetic – one of the reasons I entered this challenge was to “reset” as I was feeling sluggish. Seems to be working.
    Good luck everyone. 10 days to go!

    Day 21–MA, USA–FD. Yesterday was a FD that turned into a NFD, so I’m trying again today!

    2nd post

    Thanks everyone for the support and advice.

    @at, every time I read one of your posts I am overwhelmed by the amount of time, attention and support you provide to all of us here – especially individually, when this thread is now so enormous. You have both a great memory and a huge heart. Thank you.

    @coda, thank you for the hug – and for recognising that I needed one. Back at you any time you need!

    @okeydokey – my goodness, that is a very traumatic experience. Of course you are anxious about making those appointments, but just remember you actually are now in control. That dentist was definitely a one-off whacko, so not only will your next experience be miles better and in the hands of one of the many many competent, compassionate and professional dentists out there – you’re also a strong, capable and intelligent adult. If anything starts to happen that makes you uncomfortable, you can just say “stop”. And all of us will be here to help you however we can.

    I don’t want to get too soppy (could be hormonal), but I honestly never expected to find such a depth of support and genuine caring on an online forum – and I don’t even know any of your real names!! So thank you everyone, just for being part of such a wonderful, responsive, vital community – even if you never post, there is such strength in numbers.

    All my best to all of you.

    notmyrealname,

    That was one of the sweetest posts I have ever read.

    I totally agree with her, AT, it amazes me the work and dedication that you have put into this challenge. AND I totally agree that the support, kindness, wisdom and sharing on this thread continues to inspire me. I cannot wait to read the posts. Thank you all.

    Day 22 / UK / FD (planned, may end up a NFD for social reasons more or less. I’ll update @at if need be)

    Can’t call today’s NFD controlled, but it wasn’t too far off of what I would have had normally. I snacked a little bit more than is in character, but within the reason that comes with the job (organising lots of tea breaks for students takes its toll).

    Planning a FD for tomorrow, but I am meeting friends for “drinks” in the evening. If it’s really just drinks, I’ll be fine. They are used to me not drinking alcohol. If it also includes food (likely burgers), I can’t guarantee for anything: I don’t think I am prepared to sit among friends munching artisan burgers without having one myself, or even content myself with chips. I could try to not eat throughout the day to keep things as closest to the bay as possible, but I am not going to push myself too hard. It’s one planned FD of three this week and I have already been thinking of trying for another one on Sat or Sun anyway. I’d feel happier about it if I wasn’t plateauing as I am at the moment, but it’s all just delays. This WOL feels sustainable in ways that I am starting to forget hunger and the snacking that’s challenging on NFDs at the moment is related to a job I’ll be holding until the summer. So I am in good spirits about it all.

    @Strawberriesandcream Why, thank you! Currently working through a plateau on a NDF and something that will probably end up being one. But it’ll go downwards again.

    Day 18 Ireland NFD
    Day 19 NFD
    Day 20 FD
    Day 21 NFD
    After a long weekend of NFD I am going to aim for Mon, Wed, Fri FD this week. Hope everyone is having a good week. :0)

    🌈✨Together we are Stronger ✨🎉

    @jojo58 Thank- you for the information on the Konjac noodles. I will order them from Amazon

    A while back someone mentioned a low cal. sweetener that helps reduce inflammation. My daughter is allergic to refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. I think this would help her. I think it started with an L. Does anybody remember what it might be?

    @misgizmo the shiritaki noodles and cauliflower rice sound good. Do you think I could find them online?
    @fatrabbit Good for you!✨
    @notmyrealname Thank- you for your very supporting words. I will read that when I need to get enough confidence to make the appointment(s). It means more than words can express. I agree our group is wonderful✨

    @at Thank- You for making this group such a great experience. I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. I hope you’ll be able to continue for a good while. 🤞✨👍

    @obesa

    Wow! That’s a great coincidence isn’t it ..the boats. And the fact that you were in Brum as I’m near Gailey in the S&W ! We’ve had a boat for 20 years plus but this one we’ve lived on for 10 years.

    Anyway , I do have my FD planned out so this week I’m hoping for Tues, Thursday and Sunday. Then I’ll see what effect that’s had on my weight and may just do 2 FD next week and then 3 the week after.

    Today’s gone well really, plenty of water and a small meal tonight. I was really hungry around 3pm but drank even more water the and it passed.
