Day 14 Uk nfd
What a day I had a yearning for porridge and as I haven’t had that for months I indulged myself and really enjoyed it! Was restrained until a hot cross bun couldnt be resisted, but as this is so very unusual for me I will be back on track tomorrows fast day!
Hoping for a dry day to get out into the garden and really get started, it’s been just too wet to get onto the ground.
onwards and down!!

Thanks so much for your helpful advice. Definitely something I can work with there. π
My focus isn’t weight loss (but it’s nice) – it’s about managing insulin and cortisol levels. In addition to that I have some “issues” following gallbladder removal – so eating certain foods does not react well with the whole digestive system. Bit of a challenge; but I’m up for it π
Day 14 : Cheshire, UK : FD
This is my 2nd day of b2b. The last time I ate was Sunday, Day 12 at around 10pm and all I have had since is water and herbal teas. I usually have a meal of 500 cals on my second FD, at dinner but I want to see how long I can do a liquid fast. I know if I eat anything, I will want more and I really want to see if I can continue fasting tomorrow and who knows, and beyond. Iβve been holding on tightly to the rest of the b2b-ers.
@johnnyr β I too would love to hear your experiences. Do you eat anything or is it completely liquid fast when do 5 days and what is your secret
My only fear is that I will go crazy when I do eat. Iβve been fantasizing about all sorts of carb loaded βtreatsβ π
@at β Iβm really impressed with your spreadsheet. Iβm guessing that red are those that havenβt posted yet but what is the green and blue? Thank you for putting together the b2b list for Day 13&14, it has really helped me knowing that it is a 2nd fast day for others too.
@jojo58 β I just loved your post, so inspiring!
@triplet β great question and nothing more to add to what has already been suggested. Great suggestions too!
@Strawberriesandcream β thank you! I understand and will try it. Gosh your name makes my mouth water especially on a 2nd FD π
@saffy420 β I think I will weigh myself on a Friday to just check where I am too – great idea. I tend to βtreatβ myself at weekends so hopefully weighing myself on a Friday will help to keep me mindful.
@In it to thin it β are you fasting all week? If so, can I hold your hand? I donβt know how far I will get but I would like to try.
@okeydokey β I think you have confused the pocketeers from yesterday, Day 13. Not everyone on the list you have posted are fasting today.
@southcroydonkate β Congratulations on your first B2B β great feeling isnβt it? π
@august2024 β love it!
I will try and keep myself busy tonight so that I don’t succumb to any tempting food.
Hi 2nd post
@ciren2 – think of these ‘practice’ fasts as limbering up for the big one.
Kefir drinkers – meant to say my kefir arrived and has been activated, I only got a small amount at first but tried it with a little honey stirred in and it was ok, though I like natural yogurt on my fruit and porridge anyway. I wonder if this is what buttermilk in by-gone years tasted like. My Mum and Dad loved buttermilk and would drink a glass with their dinner but say the buttermilk today does not taste the same at all. My second lot I got a little more but I am unsure if I am adding too little milk – there certainly seem more grains than what I started with. Third lot should be just about ready when I get home. Any more tips I should know about – how much do you drink a day? Can you add berries and blend, is blending ok? At the moment I used semi skimmed milk as that is what I had in the house – should I be using whole milk? What happens if you end up with lots of grains – what do you do with them? Can you eat them like cottage cheese?
Believe my cals for the day will be well below my 1/4 TDEE and as I have a maths class I won’t be home until after 9pm. I would have been tempted to try for another fast day tomorrow but arranged to meet a ex work colleague for lunch. I have made hundreds of trips tot the loo today – I exaggerate not – well maybe not hundreds lol so I hope for a good result on my next weigh day – whenever I feel the urge to weigh off course! I think I will start doing press-ups against the toilet door or squats every time I go to the loo. Every little helps as they say. Have a good evening, morning, afternoon where ever you are.
BTW – Dad’s consultant phoned him today to say he is really pleased with the biopsy of the second piece of tongue – it showed no trace of tumour.
Day 14 – USA – NFD
Third post: @NellaJiminez, I will be fasting Day 15 as well.
And yes, I would love to get any and all info from someone I “know” who has done ketogenics long-term. You can email at metatauta@hotmail.com.

Hello Coda,
Milk Kefir should be made with whole milk, or better still raw milk(farm shop). You can use other milks like almond and coconut but you must use whole milk at least weekly.
1 tablespoon of grains to 2 cups of milk and 24 hour to ferment is average. You can add anything of your choice to the strained result. You can use grains in cooking but they become ineffective as probiotics which is a waste. I give my dogs some in milk, they are both aged and need to improve their immune systems. It’s a good thing to store spares in your fridge to give friends. It will slow fermentation, you can also freeze or dehydrate them too. See utube ideas. Hope this helps!
PS- don’t have too much at first as it will flush both kidneys and bowels, be gentle with your gut it is very important to your well being and health, the most under appreciated organ we have in our bodies.
I love Kefir and feel great, enjoy the benefits.
Try other probiotic foods next, your body will love you for it. I ordered a yogurt making kit today, I don’t know why I haven’t done it before.

Day 14 Massachusetts USA NFD
Weighed in this morning and down another 2.2lbs to 317lbs. I realize that at some this is going slow down but this really is one of the best ways to “diet” that I have tried. The FDs are made so much easier for me knowing that the next day I can eat normally. So glad that my MD recommended this to me.
Day 14 | NFD | UK
I feel more tired and achy than usual today.
3 people at work noticed I have lost weight today and that boosts my confidence and keeps me dedicated… so happy
I do have a long way to go but one day at a time.
Tomorrow will be a FD – hope the tiredness passes otherwise it will be difficult

THANKS to all for the birthday wishes! How wonderful to receive birthday greetings from around the world – it made it really special πΊ
@coda great news ref your Dad, so good to hear it.
@august2024 – fantastic reworking of the words, lol, I loved it!
@jennferb – pocket fasters keep a list in their pocket, of all the names of the other fasters that day. Really does help when motivation takes a dip.
@jojo – have my first ever batch of water kefir going! Smells nice with the lemon and ginger. I watched a piece by Michael Moseley on ‘Trust me I’m a Doctor’ last night, comparing fermented foods and kefir was a standout.

Day 14 FD
I think that’s me caught up! Still no movement on the scales, which is both frustrating and demotivating but hey-ho… even with that pesky annoyance (go away 85.x – I am heartily sick of you!), I am still feeling so much better than when I started this WOL, and I truly don’t know how I could have dropped the first 15 kg without it.
Fingers crossed, I see an 84.x this week… my March goal is to get to 80.x, which seems very far away at this point.
Hope everyone is feeling well and positive, and holding on to that willpower with both hands. Onwards and downwards, my friends… xx

Day 14 Florida, USA FD
2nd post today- I find when I follow Michael’s method of eating almost nothing between breakfast and dinner, I have trouble even getting up to 500 calories. I never plan high calorie foods for a fast day (no burgers, no pizza, no Chinese…). I was very hungry this afternoon but since hunger is a rare thing for a “1st world” person, I decided I’d simply reflect on what it feels like to be hungry. Dinner does have to be on the early side on a FD! I can afford to have a Vegan cookie with my evening tea today.

Day 14 Ireland FD.
I’m not missing breakfast anymore! I drink coffee in the morning, and LOTS of water, and I am amazed at how I don’t miss breakfast, after sooo many years! And in fact I actually think breakfast inhibits my healthy eating. I am way more likely to indulge at 11am on FD and NFD if I eat breakfast. When I don’t eat breakfast, I don’t miss it, I don’t even crave it. I think for me skipping breakfast even on NFD has helped in slimming down.
@at I am amazed at the spread sheet – so thorough, so much work!Fair play to ya!
Australia Day 15 FD – this would usually be a NFD but I can’t fast tomorrow so moved it to today. It will be interesting to see how I cope given I am used to two NFDs in between FDs.
@coda – great news about your Dad. Best wishes!
@triplet – you could add dried or tinned pulses to keep up your protein and because they are filling. I cook pulses in homemade chicken stock and then drain and mash them with a little of the stock and some garlic. A tasty alternative to mashed potato and you can use it as a spread or dip depending on how runny you make it.
Have a great day all!
@deirdre54321 I have found FD to be easier when I skip breakfast. I usually go from bedtime to about 12:30pm or 1:00 next day without food. I do make a morning coffee beverage and I do add 2tsps of sugar and half and half. I subtract those calories from my total and then I have about 150 cal around lunchtime or as late as I can push it and then I save the rest of my calories for about an hour before bedtime. 8:30 or so. Sometimes I’ve found I don’t even finish my meal. Wait that’s such a lie. Ok, I feel very full, like I don’t need to finish but I do. I’ve played around with my mealtimes but I’ve found this works best for me. When I eat more frequently I was inevitably hungrier even though I still consumed the same amount of calories. I love breakfast but I agree I think I do better when I skip it even on nfd. I wonder why that is?
Day 14 – USA, PA – FD
Great fast day! Hoping to make through the night. I’m armed with warm lemon π and stevia water! I will be fasting tomorrow. Working towards a B2B2B2B. I’m feeling so much better now. The 2nd FD is always better for me.

@deirdre54321. I know what you mean about breakfast. I’ve always noticed that once I start I just get hungry. If I don’t start I can go much longer. And I love breakfast!
@at. I keep reading about a spreadsheet. Where can I find that?

Day 14 WI USA NFD
Today wasn’t too bad. I didn’t eat until 11:30 and had a filling but healthy 230 cal lunch and 350 cal dinner. Then, because today is Pi Day, I made a chocolate pie for the kids. It was a new recipe – Minny’s Chocolate Pie, from the movie The Help (without the special ingredient!), so I wanted to try a small slice, and I did. Then I got into the baked pinto bean chips that I love … sigh … but still, overall today, calorie intake was small (well below my TDEE), and relatively healthy. Haven’t eaten since 8:00, just water from here until bedtime. Tomorrow is a fast day, my second one.
I really wanted to hit the gym, especially since I missed yesterday, but I slept wrong on my neck/shoulder and have a fun pinched nerve or something in there. Can hardly turn my head, pain shoots into my shoulder and arm. REALLY hope it’s better by tomorrow – been icing and ibupropen treating it today.
@pclpo – congrats on the weight loss! I, too, think this will be a great way to lose weight and get healthy.
@missj2002 – congrats on people noticing the weight loss! What a confidence boost!
@coda – great news about your father!
@deirdre54321- I think I’m the same way. I fasted yesterday and to my surprise, wasn’t even hungry for breakfast. When I started going to the gym in late January, I started going before breakfast, on an empty stomach, and found I liked having my breakfast meal later in the morning.
Good luck to all of us tomorrow!
Greetings from Minneapolis Mn USA, I have been skimming through this tread and you all seem like wonderful supportive group. I know it’s mid-month but….can I still join? I’m in the end of my first fast day and do far so good. However, I know that I’m going to need a bit if a boost eventually.
Thanxs

Day 15 UK NFD
I am not fasting, as in not liquid only, but this is going to be a very controlled day to try to minimise any damage from yesterday. So nothing til dinner and then a bowl of veg chilli and nothing else? Defintely no nuts. I am defitnitely overdoing salted nuts. Read yesterday that 10 salted mixed nuts is 85 cals. Yikes!
Day 15 : Cheshire, UK : CD/maybe FD – @at will let you know later
I was just feeling too weak and lightheaded to fast today, well liquid fast anyway. So I broke my fast at 7am with 3 olives, 1 avocado, 8 cherry tomatoes and some sauerkraut. That is under 500 cals so let me see how I go but I really needed to eat something.
I am pleased, however, as that is the longest I have gone on just water and herbal teas but really how much water and herbal teas can you drink. Plus the numerous visits to the loo. I really wasn’t hungry unless lightheadedness and feeling weak is a sign of hunger but my stomach was ok.
Anyway, I will try again tomorrow to fast cos my ketostix was the darkest it has ever been plus the scales were kind to me. Not sure that the figure on the scale is real but we will see over the coming days.
Gracias π
Day 15, Germany, NFD
Good morning, everyone from a sunny, cold Emden!
Starting weight: 61,3 kg
Goal weight March: 59 kg
Weight today: 58,8 kg
@at β Iβm really impressed about the spreadsheet and the amount of energy and time you put into this. You’re so engaged and so encouraging to all of us to stay with it.
I also would like to thank all those lovely experienced people, helping us newbies with such good advice. Because of work issues (one pregnant, one perhaps leaving, that leaves DH and me together, not doable)we dont’t have a real vacation at the moment as plannned, but we’re doing job interviews. So I don’t have time to read all the posts, just skimming.
Have a good day everyone, fasting or nonfasting, never give up!
Day 15 Kent, UK FD Goal 4 lbs this month
Busy day planned starting with Hula hooping, then bowls, dog walk, gardening then bridge tonight. Should keep me on the straight and narrow fast. Prawn salad planned.
Sarah57-don’t worry about eating a few nuts, they are a protein food, not stored like sugary foods but utilised by the body. Preferably eat nuts without salt though, walnuts, almonds or Brazil nuts. Too much salt gets you dehydrated especially before bedtime when your saliva glands go to sleep. Your mouth and breath won’t be good in the morning.
For those interested in how the gut processes food read ‘GUT’ by Giulia Enders. The more you know about this the better you will become at making good choices. You will learn ‘why’ the body behaves as it does and how to avoid the pitfalls of bad decisions.
It will explain why you appear to stall in weight loss yet have followed your plan to the letter. IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE CALORIE COUNT but about WHAT FOODS you eat and how your body processes or becomes addicted to them, how it stores and saves fat, protects it from famine times including fasting. Knowledge is Power!
Have a great day everyone, be strong, I will be thinking of you. DRINK every hour, minimum 1 cup of water preferably but hot with lemon slices is fine. Green tea great too.

Day 15 / UK / NFD (67.1kg)
Weights are stalling a tiny bit, showed the same both yesterday and just now. Slightly annoyed because I have two NFDs coming up, but I’ll get over it. No idea how many cals I ended up on yesterday. The internet gave me a rough cal number for veggie chili, but the scales didn’t seem to register that I tried to weigh what I had left. In the end I had it all, about the same or a slightly bigger portion than what I’d normally have for my midday soup. So, may have been that, may have been something else. It’s all fickle.
In fact, I should just concentrate on the fact that the scales are locating me in quite a different place than they did only 3.5 weeks ago and continue to do so every time I weigh. It’s not just a fluke, yay!
(or indeed just ditch the scales entirely π )
Hope all goes well for all of you today!
