    @krisnia Welcome I’m new here too✨

    I had a first for myself last night. I usually can’t go to sleep 😴 with an empty stomach, so I’ve been eating my evening dinner calories before I go to bed and not eating a regular dinner. Last night I used a hypnotic program that allowed me to go to sleep without eating. I feel so much better that I was able to accomplish my goal of not eating 3 hours before and while going to sleep! I’ll continue to use the hypnotic program until it becomes permanent!🤞🤞🤞Hope it lasts✨

    2nd post

    I need you all to help me not to go downstairs and get more curry. I have had my share for today. I am not actually hungry as such but it was too nice and I really really want more but I also really really don’t want to break the pattern. I changed the recipe slightly and it is so much better, or my tastebuds have gone into overdrive or something. How can sprouts taste so wonderful? I MUST wait until tomorrow to have more. I must…Drink a glass of water, that is a good idea… Stop gurgling at me stomach. Look at the size of you, you don’t need it. Really, you don’t. I mean it. Be quiet and get on with digesting what I gave you. Nagging doesn’t work on me. So.there. End. of. crisis.

    Day 8 — NFD — Virginia, USA

    Is there a list for Tomorrow? it will be 4th FD since starting this WOL, I haven’t lost a lot of weight BUT I measured my belly and I have lost 1 inch in the last 7 days, my jeans fit much better and I feel great, I decided to check the scale every Friday but I don’t want to go crazy about that, still have about 34 lbs to lose, my goal is to be 141 lbs within a year!. Short term goal is to lose 5 lbs this month. For those fasting today STAY STRONG!.

    3rd post – Day 8

    I’ve just finished my Leek & Cheddar soup to give me a total of 508 for today, chuffed to bits, but I expect I’ll be getting up to go to the toilet during the night……….. 2 soups and 3L water will do that!!!

    I hope my fellow pocketeers are still going strong, read my list & thought about you all as my soup was warming, I was getting desperate at that point and thought I might just eat the list!!!! Mmmhhhhh paper!!!

    @strawberrieandcream………….so true, I often think undereating ‘stalls my engine’ and I plateau, and when the next NFD comes around, I have no control!!! So I’m yo-yoing which is a sure path to failure.

    @patiger, Pocketeers are members of small groups formed within this thread who coincidentally find they’re having a FD on the same day. Often someone needing a bit of extra support will post that they’re fasting tomorrow and could do with some support. Others also planning to fast will then add their names to the list and we all promise to keep that list in our pockets so we can think /send good vibes to those going through the same as us, whether easy or difficult any added support on a FD is welcome!!!

    I mentioned Womens Day to my OH, he said..”But I thought everyday was Womens Day, or is that just my woman”………I had no response, I can’t tell if he’s on the wind-up, wants to check if it’s ok to make me a golf widow this w/end, wants to buy a motorbike…………or he’s being genuine!!!! Too hungry to question him anyway!!!

    @lindasue — Congratulations on the birth of your great granddaughter! — BTW, not sure if someone else did but I posted about feeling the blues, I don’t want to change the life I have, the blues came from a loss and I doubt anyone else would dream of that. I’m in a better place right now and being in control of my diet is helping that too.. My best to you.

    @obesa — I’m jealous, I need a spa day too!.. Enjoy!

    @wtharvey — Where in VA are you? I’m in Norfolk. It’s nice to find someone close to home!.

    @debster251 — I haven’t felt depressed in the last couple of weeks, I think this WOL is also helping, I started on Jan with 184 lbs, lost a few between Jan and March, Started 5:2 this month and I’m 174 lbs so far, I can’t tell by looking at myself in the mirror but I CAN tell my jeans fit better, that helps a lot!.. Thank you!

    Day 8 – Chester UK – NFD

    Planning on FD tomorrow. Today’s been fine, sandwich at lunch then large omelette and salad for tea. For the first time in ages I went for a long walk at lunchtime. I’ve been working through lunch so long I’d forgotten what it was like to get out and about. I really felt the benefit of leaving work for almost an hour, being out in the sunshine recharged my batteries and another plus was I didn’t spend much time in the kitchen area scoffing biscuits! Weigh in will be Friday, target for,March is 8 lbs.

    @fatrabbit. Oh I could so relate to your urges for that curry. Well I am new to this site I wonder if it would be helpful if I shared some of the distress tolerance or crisis survival skills that I teach my therapy clients here. I don’t want to violate any guidelines or protocol. I use them myself quite frequently. If they are appropriate and helpful I’d be glad to share. One of them we call STOP. . I like to imagine the stop sign when I’m feeling a strong urge to do something I don’t want to do, like over eat or eat something that’s not particularly good for me. So S stands for stop. T stands for take a step back. O stands for observe, for instance observe and describe to yourself what’s happening. Maybe reminding myself of Michael. And P stands for proceed mindfully. The idea is it builds in a pause. It gives me a chance to really think about what I’m doing and remind myself of Michael. Will use a lot of distract skills as well. That is Other activities that can distract us until the urge passes. Once you get the knack of it it’s pretty quick to use. It doesn’t always work but I find it is helpful to me most of the time.

    If it was inappropriate for me to share this type of thing here, please delete and let me know and I will refrain. I found so many good tips here that I wanted to share as well.

    @mogaman I understand how great it is to get out. I had Brocken my leg I’m still in physical therapy and I have Lyme Disease. Hoping fasting will help! I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ what it’s like to have MS but I realize what your doing by getting outside will help! Keep up the Good work! 🤗🎶🤗

    I weighed myself 3/6 at 181 lbs.
    Now on 3/8 I weighed 177.6 . I lost 3.5 lbs in 2 days…. maybe I shouldn’t eat Philadelphia hash this evening, even if I cook 👨‍🍳 it for my family. I don’t have a clue what 300 calories of Philadelphia Hash is.😅🤣

    Well, I have just made it through the FD! Soup and a small homemade bread roll for dinner and enough calories left over to have a piece of dark chocolate! Yay. Hope all other fasters had a good day too.

    WT: I’d like to be added to the pocket folks for tomorrow as it will be a fast day for me. Couldn’t figure out how to do that. Wasn’t able to copy and add myself. Thank you.

    By the way, found bone broth and the specialty food section at my grocery store last night they had several flavors. I purchased a couple as I’ve seen people mention it. It was pretty pricey though.

    Today I have managed to extend my fast to 5pm. Unusual for me as I will usually have 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast on a FD, then nothing until dinner. However, today, other than a coffee with a little skim milk I have had no calories throughout the day. Feels really good and I may try this more often. Surprisingly clear headed and energetic. Planning on about 5oz of steak on top of some salad greens for dinner and that will be it for the day.

    @anna6 – so sorry to read the stories about the collapse of the azure window. We took a boat trip around it in 2015 when we visited Malta and Goza and just loved it.

    Days 8 and 9 – Australia NFDs. Really struggling. Just overwhelmed by everything.

    Ohhhhhh Ciren….. did you feel me squeezing your hand ever so hard today. I almost thought I was going to break you itiy bitiy fingers. After lunch, I was sooooo hungry. But thanks to the list in my back pocket, I was saved!
    Rough day….. have no idea why I am so hungry….. my belly is being really loud and obnoxious since like 1 pm. At one point it yelled out feed me, women, I had everyone in the room looking at me!!!

    Fatrabbit….. you sure made me feel better, I thought I was the only one who talked to her stomache…..

    Okay some one asked what the pocket pals mean….. so here it goes…. it is group of us well maybe a stadium full of hungry people coming together for a FD. We all choose a particular day, like today. We sign up, then everyone on the list writes everyone’s name on a piece of paper. We stick it in our pockets and pull it out and read all the names when we are having a moment. It is a great way to get much need support when we can’t jump on the thread.

    Speaking of tomorrow pocket day, It won’t be a FD for me but I will remain on the list for support, love and hugs! But I am FD in on Friday, so, any b2b2b, I got you!

    Okay well it finally time to eat my evening calories, so I shall be off…. Mrs. grumbly gut, is starting to annoy me now. I guess the 50 calories I have already eaten today is not enough for her! Such a pain the arse, she is!

    @jarbia, thank you for your reassurance. It helps! Hope you are picked up and dusted down now.
    @hannahwatto – it is just hard sometimes to get in the right zone. If life is a bit haywire fasting can make it easier though. You will pull it back though. Think of the times you have done that before.

    I can really relate to those struggling at the moment. Sometimes it is just difficult. Many of us are undoing whole lifetimes of conditioning which damages us. How can that be easy? But we all know if we hang on in there it won’t feel so hard.

    Day 8- Montreal- NFD

    I’m so looking forward to my FD tomorrow! Spring break has been such fun but I need to get back to my fasting routine. I have mainly managed to be mindful with a few hiccups here and there but I’m wearing a pair of jeans I couldn’t even dream of fitting in a few weeks ago.

    Went to see Lion this evening. A lovely film, hankies required! A latte put me over my 500 cals, but I’m not too worried.
    @lindasue many congratulations at your new arrival. I must say I’m envious – my boys are only settling down now and I’m a long way off any grandchildren at all. When my friend had yet another grandchild I said to my eldest, ‘I want one of those!’ And his reply was, ‘Well mum, you taught me you can’t always have what you want!’ Oh how your words come back to haunt you!

    @emme1956 my appetite has really decreased since I started this WOL. I have got stuck on a plateau recently and I think that not eating enough is the problem, so m making a big effort to eat sensibly and fully to my TDEE.

    Someone asked about the pocket group, the pocket group seems to have evolved this month.

    It used to be a group that were setting themselves an extra challenge now and then, for example if you wanted to do a B2B Fast(back to back) or a whole weekend Fast, or 72 hours Fast. Whatever the challenge was there were spring out groups that we called pockets and the did the challenge which was different from the day to day Fasts. I think I named them pocketeers? (Claim to fame) However the pockets have been around before me! I joined in November.

    You would write down the name of the challengers and put them in your pocket so to speak, so that you would make extra effort and would think of them when resolve was weakening. Different from just doing a Fast day.

    This month this seems to have changed slightly into anyone that needs a bit of encouragement has said what day they are doing and anyone doing the same day is in a pocket with them.

    Both are good, the nature of this group is that you will always be doing the same FD as someone else in the group. Everyday could be a pocket day?

    We have never had such big pockets, we seem to be naming every one doing a Fast that day. Not sure why? But was in the Monday one. I did a B2B also.

    @debster that did make me laugh. I wasn’t especially looking forward to grandchildren or bothered one way or another, and the idea of being a grandma made me feel ancient. I have two now and don’t care about being ancient and tell everyone I am a grandma. I just adore them. All I can say is that I think it is like nothing else. You still have that wonderful, unbelievable first grandchild to look forward to. I just wished I had already been retired when it started.

    Day 9 NZ FD
    Proper fast today. I’m not struggling so far and I feel empowered to make it through tonight after work on my 1100kj bowl of coconut milk soaked oats and slivered almonds with some blueberries
    I know the oats aren’t low carb and maybe not the best FD choice, but I have been loving this Bircher bowl lately and it fits my allowance for a FD meal.
    I figure it is best to have something to look forward to on a FD when I’ve been feeling so close to giving up altogether rather than force myself to have the protein and fat just for the sake of trying to fit my macros.
    I still get good nutrition but don’t feel deprived, when I’m struggling to see any benefit from all the effort of fasting I think every little bit of positive reinforcement has to help.

Whenever I feel hungry either on a FD or NFD I ask myself if I’m really hungry and in winter I have a warm drink, often hot water and lemon, or a cold drink of water with ice and lemon/lime in summer and then find that the hungry feeling has gone…… Essentially B2B means doing 2 FD in a row
    @suse13 – 16/8 means that you are fasting for 16hrs and eating in an 8hr time period in a 24hr period which for most people basically means missing out on breakfast and having their first meal at lunchtime and a second meal of the day at dinner time -hope that makes sense?/

Share as much or as little as you feel like but you will have great support here. It would be helpful for me if you could start your daily post with the day of the month, where you are, and if you are doing a FD (Fast day) or a NFD (Non Fast Day). Example today for me would be Day 8 – Cumbria UK – NFD. Add more to your daily post or not as you please. If you don’t sign in daily then just update at the start of your post whether each day since you last signed in was a FD or NFD – makes updating the spreadsheet a bit easier – Thanks

    @patiger and @okeydokey – to join the pocketeers just copy and paste from a previous list that someone started and add your name at the bottom and/or you can start your own on a FD and others will join in – does this make sense??
    @fatrabbit and @bert1802 – LOL – love your conversations with your stomach – When in your situation I often say “Dear stomach you’re bored not hungry. SO SHUT UP”
    @sirisan – Not inappropriate for sharing your distress tolerance/crisis survival skills – STOP mechanism sounds just what we need at times !

    Day 9 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 80.9kg

    When I think I have my weight figured out, pop up a kg! (2.2 lbs)

    I’m not too worried, work has been almost around the clock the last few days and far too little sleep. If I could pay the bills I would retire in a heartbeat! I have a least 20 years of projects I want to do but don’t make much progress on because work controls my life.

    Day 8 – USA – FD
    Second post – Dearest @at, you are such a peach to spend all your time accumulating all our statistics and laying them out for us! I must say you are too kind, though, with my starting weight. I wish it were true, but it was 186.8, not 168.8…..I would love to snap my fingers and say it was so, but I have to live with those extra pesky 20 pounds and lose them! Thanks again!

    Dear @at – thank you so much for watching over us all. It is true generosity and leadership. And to all of you posting comments, the group has grown so large it feels overwhelming now to make individual comments but I do read through and feel comments and struggles with all of you.
    Today’s FD is the first time I’ve crumbled slightly… my son (10) made gluten-free pumpkin chocolate chip muffins with me in mind and I had one mid-day. It wasn’t part of the plan. I figure I ended up around 620 cals today… it won’t wreck anything but I’m a bit disappointed.
    I think my husband’s comment the other day that I should stop 5:2 now got a little under my skin. I want to hit my goal and roll into maintenance… I know how hard maintaining a healthy weight is… there is something a little sabotaging about telling me to stop – though he is nothing but complimentary and well meaning, I know.
    Anyone identify?

    @blueninjamum my wife isn’t very supportive of 5:2. However she sees how much more I’m able to do and how much weight I’ve lost so at least she has stopped fighting against it. Her comments used to get to me.

    @at – How do you do it? You really seem to do a great job of reading this rapid thread and responding to people! I’m very impressed. Thank you for your efforts.

    I seem to be really hungry lately. Have had lunch. Will not have dinner but am over the 500 cals but well under 2200+ that I am allowed to have for my TDEE.
