  • Day 8 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 79.8kg

Seems like just around 80kg is my new set weight. It used to be just over 86kg, so this is an improvement. That went on for a couple months then I started shifting downward. Seems like I back into this holding pattern.

Right now I’m very sore. My arms hurt, my shoulders are smarting and my legs are burning. I decided to climb 3000 floors of stairs in March. So far I’ve gone over 100 floors a day in March but my legs are starting to complain a bit.

Yesterday I also over ate. I actually ate a little less than normal but my body is telling me to back off a bit I guess. I’ve probably had about 50 FDs so far and I just really don’t like feeling too full anymore. The fasting has changed what feels normal. I don’t know if that makes sense. I’m not very good with this touchy feely stuff. I went through two years of hell eating less and moving more while gaining fat because I wouldn’t or couldn’t listen to what my body was telling me. It took a lot of time before I gave up my beliefs and started trying to learn. I spent a good 5 years thinking trying to force ketosis was crazy but I didn’t really know anything about it. I was accepting the standard just eat less and move more line as truth on par with the 10 commandants. Sometimes blind faith isn’t what we need.

Day 7 NFD. Down 1lb. I’ll take it!

    Day 7… Florida…. NFD

It’s been one heck of a day. So, just a quick post.

Ciren…. I’ll be holding your hand tomorrow, so please add me to the list. FD for me as well!

    Peace be with you!

    Day 8 NZ NFD
Shocking weather. One of our trees is down, a beautiful liquid amber, still at least it didn’t land on the house. Have to look on the bright side. We live in a small community and the fire siren has been going off all day for the volunteer fire brigade. Power was off for awhile and its turned quite cold. I worked today at the hospital and we had two power outages but our generator kicked in quickly. Two off the staff couldn’t get in due to flooding. Lets pray for a quieter night.

Day 7, Oceanside CA USA, NFD

A most erergetic NFD after a satisfying FD. Enjoyed 3 mile beach walk, nice protein waffle breakfast, 18 holes golf with DH, who is also following the 5:2 and then back home for sunset and a delicious dinner.

Tomorrow a short trip to the Temecula mountains and their wineries. Sunshine on the horizon. And yes the scale continues to give positive results.

    Day 8 – Perth, W.Aust – NFD – weigh in day – 71.9kg

Be strong, be kind, be fabulous.

    Still Day 7 here.

pamie – That sounds like some wild weather you’re having. I’m glad you’re okay.

    Day 8 Oman NFD

    Second post today

@onahealthyhigh love your idea😃, I too will give myself a lifetime membership to this WOE. Congrats on the impressive lbs off.

@Exhale -tried the sweetpotato soup recipe & added Thai curry sauce
@debster recommended. Wow delicious- made a very filling supper for my 23/1 FD today. Thanks!

@johnny I regularly use mgcitrate when fasting – helps keeps food”in transit” and also helps with muscle cramps. Start with a 250mg tablet and increase by 1 additional tab each day til you reach your bowel tolerance, then back up by 1 tablet til you reach the dose where stools are not too loose.

    Day 8 – Switzerland – FD

Have my pocketeers in my pocket and ready to face the day! Pleased to report that I’ve lost the weight I put on in Feb, back down to 91.3kg/14st5/201lbs which is BMI 29.1. Tape measure is also looking good.

    Day 8 Glasgow NFD

    Day 8, Germany, FD

This diet or as some call it lifestyle is a miracle. It’s a treatment to reduce amount of eating and to grow a will towards healthy eating. Since my first fast day in March my appetite has reduced largely. Also I am not any more interested in eating sweets which was my big broblem. Generally I feel more healthy and more light and quick whenever I am working out. I am going to stick to it 🙂

    Day 8, Germany, NFD

    Day 1: Weight 61,3 kg
    Day 8: Weight 60 kg
    Day 31: Goal 59 kg

    Day 8 UK NFD 🌈

    1st March 172.6lbs
    8th March 168.6lbs

After 2 B2B FDs, very happy with my progress this month so far. Been hitting the gym and really concentrating on FDs and NFDs.

    Message to AT !
Keep up the good work @at, it’s very time consuming at the start and took all my time to check everyone in, I used to check up on people’s posts when I had a day missing, however I soon realised not everyone likes to check in each day, and like you too had people join who never posted, after week one if I had no information and no checking in, I deleted them, and if they posted in future added them back. 150 is a lot to keep track off well done you.
I was thrilled each time is got a new person no matter what time they joined, however this does fade in week 2. Although you do get the odd one right up to the end of the month. Getting them ready for the next challenge I think.
Some people do fade out for whatever reason, we had 109 mid month in Feb, not all posted till then end, but majority did, and only 53 sent in their weight loss. But it’s all good, this challenge forum helps people.

Lastly when checking in people and reading every post, these people you don’t know become like friends, you look for their posts, you get to know their names, you learn a little each time, the regular everyday ones that let you into their lives, the one post every few days people, and then the random/seldom posting ones. That feeling doesn’t go, I still read every post. Every post is a success to the forum. 🌺🌹🌷🌸flowers for you, keep up the good work x .

    Day 8 Hampshire NFD

    Day 8 – Oxfordshire UK – NFD

As we are through the first week I thought I would record some stats.

My highest weight over the last six months was 179.4 lbs (12 st 11.4lbs)
I managed to get this down to 167.2 lbs (11st 13.2lbs) by 1st March by fair means or foul.
Today after first seven days I am 165.6 lbs (11st 11.6lbs)

My aim in March is to definitely stay under 12 stone. Any loss I make I am more than happy with.
This is my first time on 5:2.

So far, so good. I have stopped drinking wine for two weeks now so that is definitely helping. I am not a one glass girl, I usually average about 60% of a bottle per day which is 360 cals. It’s pure habit.

I am going for a Spa Break today overnighting so back tomorrow.

    Day 8 NZ 18:6 day
I’ve spent the first part of the week with limited eating windows and felt quite good about it.
I’ve decided I’m ready for a proper 500cam fast tomorrow, I really am quite scared about missing a week of minimum 5:2 fasting so I’m planning Thurs and Fri up to 450cals both days.
My sincere hope is that with a limited eating window and two FDs I can feel mentally ok about my commitment to continue regular fasting, whether or not I lose this week. At least I know I’m still trying,…struggling and questioning my faith in the process, but still trying.
I know from scrolling through that I’m not the only person feeling a bit disillusioned and that’s wonderful in a strange way. Not that I’m happy about anyone suffering but the feeling of normalising and sharing my experience is such a huge boost.
Thanks @at for carrying the torch for this month, I have no idea how you manage to find the time, I can barely fit reading most of the posts into my day. But I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels so much gratitude for the time and support of others like yourself who help to pick up those of us who are struggling this month and keep us all on target.

    Day 8 – Staffordshire UK-nfd

Still recording everything on MFP which seems to be working as today scales were at their lowest.

    Good luck to everyone today.

    Day 8 Virginia USA FD

No weight loss in the first week but I do feel energetic and focused. I’ll take it.

    Good luck Wednesday fasters !

    Day 8 Surrey UK FD

Yesterday’s attempt took a dive by last night. Haven’t read the posts but will try and catch up later. For all who are fasting, enjoy…and for all who are not, enjoy!

    Day 8 UK FD

Right then. Last night I think I ate around 800 kcals, not the 600 I had planned. Kids leaving bits that were too tempting, and making their sandwiches for today were the main culprits. Also left eating a bit late which doesn’t help. I think I need a quick back up meal in place as I was fine once I’d eaten. Never mind – a bit more exercise today to compensate.

Thanks @In it to thin it and @at for the advice. I’ll give it a go!

Onwards & downwards. Keep smiling fasters!

    Day 8 UK NFD

Wished I had handled yesterday better. Actual meals didn’t really happen apart from a very late supper at almost 10. Came in cold and tired more than hungry but ate. I should have just gone to bed. Will try to handle today better. Worried I may have compromised last week’s 3lb loss! Oh well.

Have a good day fasting or not!

Day 8 Sunshine Coast Aus NFD 107.5 kgs.

Hi. I went ballistic yesterday. Hence the weight gain. A little better today. Resisted going to a shop and buying potato crisps. No ice cream today. I saw the doctor today and she was really pleased that I have stayed at 107+ or less for over 5 months. Whilst I am still too heavy, she felt that I have had significant health benefits by remaining at the current weight and not going back to the starting weight plus some which is what I have always done before. And she has been my GP for over 30 years and has seen me grow bigger and bigger. I think she had decided that I would never lose weight and had twice mentioned gastric banding to me. But she is not saying that anymore. So whilst I am not at my ultimate goal and still have 30+ kilos to go, I’m doing ok. I hope this gives some of you a lift as quite a number of us are struggling, but in terms of how we once were, we are winning.

    Day 8, Newcastle UK, FD

Good CD/NFD yesterday – just what I needed, glad I listened to my body (@Dykask – you’ll approve of that). Today I feel able to have my second FD of the week.

@obesa – well done on kicking that wine habit – I know how good that feels – along with the many benefits.
@pamie & @Inittothinkit and a number of other posters – I can only imagine how stressful it must be to deal with very bad weather conditions. I hope things improve soon for you all.
@ciren2 – along with a growing list – I’m sending my support today – just as I will be very much relying on all yours.
@Schatzii – delighted to hear you are embracing and enjoying this WOL.

    Day 8, UK, NFD, 68.5kg

Woke up tired today, i hope today’s work is not too taxing. Sleep has been hit and miss since I’ve started the 5:2.

Hoping to reach below the 68kg mark at the end of this week. Would love to see a 66 on my scales at the end of the month.

    DAY 8 – UK — FD

Apologies if this is a second post – the first seems to have disappeared into cyberspace, Back home after a very enjoyable 3 days away. No fd’s at all BUT weight same despite a fry up breakfast at Weatherspoons!!!(It did the trick – didn’t enjoy the feeling it left all day long = happy to go back to missing breakfast). Also had Pizza which I haven’t eaten for months – it satisfied the urge, and now I can easily ration those to just an occasional holiday treat. So, a very pleasant surprise when in fear and trepidation I steppped on the scales this morning. Only a 1/2 lb. loss this month – BUT – still no gain, despite lots of “treats” – so bodes well for the rest of the month, I look forward to getting back to 4:3’s. It is interesting that what I call “treats” is really “junk food” that one can easily do without anyway. I have decided that the only genuine treat for me now is home-made cake, which I will still enjoy occasionally (and a cream tea!!!).
Have still to catch up on all the inspiring posts.

@sarah57 – please don’t worry about the odd slip, don’t let it turn into a downward spiral – we all have odd bad day(s) – (just read the above) – you can slip in an extra fast day to suit at any time, just to get back on track. Good luck with this WOL.

    Day 8 UK FD

Weighed this morning for the week. No loss at all for the week despite doing everything right, eating healthy meals, no snacks, no slips, nada:( I have to look at it as consolidating the big loss last month and carry on regardless.

Fasting today so joining the Pocketeers.

    Day 8 FD Sydney 80.5kg

Feeling super full after lamb and salad and sauerkraut for dins.
My tummy just doesn’t like overeating any more.
I can also now have a square or two of dark chocolate and not feel like having more.
Although I did have my potato chip dinner the other day I’ve still lost weight because I had it for dinner, not as well as dinner.

Can’t wait to get back to the 70s.

I’m sleeping really well now and the whites of my eyes are clearer than I’ve seen them for many years.
I think the pores of my skin are shrinking, but I’ll double check that in a better light this weekend – the bathroom mirror in the semi-dark makes everything look good.

Day 8 Cornwall UK nfd/ cd

Weight this morning 144.3 so after b2b loss of 4.5lbs. Now the challenge is to be controlled today. I’ve never been one to weigh daily but will do for the next week to keep myself in check!

I am away to look after grandchildren again next week and must be more controlled when I’m there! That is my aim and will take a set of scales to leave there so I’m more able to myself in check!
My daughter’s wedding is in October and I really want to be at target and to have maintained for a while!!

Pocket fasters I’m with you you all in spirit and willing all you fabulous people you to stay strong today xx

    Day 8 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Another lovely day here – great to wake up to!

Yesterday’s NFD turned into a 22:24 day with me breaking my FD from the day before at 7pm with a very healthy meal of around 800cals and had a good night’s sleep.
A very busy day today – yoga class later this morning and volunteering for the afternoon, then off to see a film with friends early evening – should keep me away from food until this evening…….

    Day 8, London, UK, FD

Really looking forward to todays’ fast. Those words weren’t even part of my vocabulary before Nov 1st.

Thanks fellow pocketeers………..I AM accountable today!!!

I’ve had a huge whoosh this morning and I’m finally back to Birthday weight low, shame it’s not ‘weigh & record’ day (Sundays). Anyway, I’m chuffed that things are moving, speaking of which, I’m not sure if the psyllium husks I’ve taken the last 2 nights had anything to do with this 2.5lb whoosh, but I FEEL lighter and just better overall!! Just this week I’ve had a 1.6lb gain, followed by a 2.8lb loss…………… I take these ups and downs in my stride and assume I’m going through some kind of ‘reset’ usually triggered by a high carb day.
I really think mixing things up a bit works well for me. Not to say I need a bingey high carb day in the mix, just a selection of 5:2, 16:8, ADF, water fasts, 500cal FDs etc. I can’t allow my body to get too comfortable!!!!!

Good luck pocketeers and all those aiming for a CD NFD.

    @onahealthyhigh……………WOW………….just………….WOW!!!!

Day 8, New Zealand, FD. To be honest I ate 700 cal – got a bit bored in the evening and mindlessly ate, but I’m happy with it being my 2nd FD this week after none for so long.

    Day 8 – Brittany, France – FD

Done my half hour on the exercise bike this morning. Going a little bit further and burning some more calories every day, which is always encouraging.

Day 8 Kent UK FD – goal 4 lb this month plus target waist exercises.

Not a great NFD yesterday, snacking, stupid really but I was feeling blue, no particular reason. Maybe post party blues.

Sadly I am still suffering lower back pain so no exercises at all today, just dog walk ( in the rain again)and indoor bowls match(committed and team short so no getting out of it). Playing bridge tonight so resting it then. During dog walk I use Nordic Poles which takes the pressure off knees, hips and spine and gives your ‘Bingo Wings’ a good work out ( if you have lost several stones they need it) plus waist and shoulders get toned. You do need some ‘balls’ to be seen using them as there is always some loud mouth who says ‘why do you have ski poles when there is no snow’. I just smile and say ‘Very funny, you are quite the joker’.

Back to 23/1 today, let it slip yesterday, more 16/8, not a good decision. Too much party food still in the house from Sunday. Resisted most of it Sunday but it is calling to me now. Arrgghhh. Trouble is my OH would go mad if I threw it out, he has a sweet tooth.

Out all day today then Egg salad planned for dinner tonight then bed at 10 pm. Staying out of the kitchen as much as possible until all cakes and biscuits gone or my willpower restored. EAT HEALTHILY OR NOT AT ALL!

Still not weighing daily but mixed feelings about it. Just an experiment for March, if it works it will be a new routine. If not it will be back to daily or weekly weighing.

So my motto today is ‘Must try harder’ (this was a common theme in my school reports) nothing changes Ha Ha!

    Day 8 Berkshire UK NFD

Well here I am same weight but yesterday wore a pair of jeans I have not been able to wear for a few years! Felt very cold tired and wobbly yesterday after a fast day so ate a little more. Onwards and downwards.

    Day 8, Germany, NFD (edit)

    Hi friends,
I thought today is Thursday so I wanted to fast (i posted wrongly previously) and now I realized it’s Wednesday 😀 so NFD

    Day 8 UK FD

Hello all, just back from a lovely early yoga class, just seen there’s a pocket list on the go so I’ll add myself then I can settle back with a coffee and catch up on the last 24hrs posts Good Luck X

    2nd Post
Just though it might be an idea to publicly identify eating triggers that I could probably live without, some may ring a bell with you, feel free to add to my list!

Future plans to avoid- Planning is the key to success 🔑

Ice cream when I go to the cinema or theatre (take a yogurt)
Snacking whilst watching TV in the evening(prepare small pots of good snacks- nuts)
Biscuits offered at bowls and friends(carry an apply or orange at all times)
Birthday cake(ask for a very thin slice and enjoy it)
Bread with soup(if home make some cloud bread, if out don’t choose soup)
Bread as pre meal – starter(ask for balsamic vinegar and dip it, breaks down carbs)
Wine- (choose sparkling water with ice and lemon or agin and Slimline tonic).

    Be 💪

    Day 8 – FIN – NFD

I just found this website and thought it could be a good idea to join the challenge, since I decided to give 5:2 a try during lent regardless. I’ve also given up on eating sweets (which is the biggest issue in my eating) and junk food for the same time period. Although I’m not taking these measures strictly in order to lose weight but rather to eat and feel better, I would consider weight loss a bonus, since I’ve gained about 4 kgs last fall/autumn and can’t seem to shake it off (my normal weight before this has been around 60 kg, 65 kg being my absolute highest weight overall back in upper secondary school).

    Today’s weight: 63.7 kg
I don’t weigh myself that regularly (but when I do, I do keep track) so I’m not sure what my weight was at the beginning of this month, but on the 22nd last month my weight was at 64.1, and on Valentine’s I was at 64.5 kg. At the end of January, I was down to 63.0 kg, and on the 23rd, I was at the same weight as now, so I’m not sure what to make out of all of this. Perhaps I’ll see more definite results later on.

I’m also wondering what to do about my fast days next week, since I’m going for a trip to the Alps, and thus I’ll be skiing for at least 5 hrs a day (which is a lot more exercise compared to what I do on a regular basis – lately it’s been dancing and ice skating once a week, strength training twice a week, morning yoga/stretching occasionally). I’m considering skipping the second fast day next week and only fasting on my travel days, since I’m not sure how I could manage a day of skiing on only 500 kcals.

    Noooo!!ive just lost my post……
    Here we go again.
@jojo thank you for the advice. It’s the smell that gives me a problem, but I have been taking it as a smoothie with banana, blueberries, raspberries etc. Saw the Dr M programme so I get what you’re saying about the health benefits. Still haven’t mastered the hula hoop but will keep trying. Hope the back is on the mend,

Whoever recommended Ceroc – thank you so much. Went there yesterday evening with OH who doesn’t ‘Do classes’ and even he enjoyed it. It is foolproof and the music is good for the soul!

A big high five to Onahealthyhigh and Obesa ( and all those other losers!)’for their fantastic progress and Flourbaby lucky you for the Whoosh! Enjoy it! 🏅🏅

@rocy65 a wedding is always a great milestone to aim for. I have one at the end of May. I think it’s the fear of the photos recording how we are for prosperity

@nella Jimenez I don’t suffer from depression but do get very down and angry with myself. I have a ‘Motivation’ board on Pinterest which I read regularly to pick me up. Stay strong.

    Onwards and downwards everyone!

@jojo58 I love the comment about ‘why do you have ski poles when there is no snow?’ I would say ‘I’m just practicing for when there is!’
People are funny and some just comment whenever they can. Good on you out there with your Nordic poles, I’m glad they help! I have a friend who got given some for a gift and thought it was a bit of a joke present, but used them once and was hooked! She loves them.

    Day 8 Belfast FD
Glorious spring day and feeling good.

Wasn’t going to fast today but circumstances are right and I soooo love fasting with the pocketeers, so count me in.

    Holding hands around the world!

@fuvvie I have a couple of lady doctors I see who are very good. When I was at my heaviest, I had a frank discussion with my doc and I told HER I was overweight (bordering on obese) and asked why she hadn’t brought it up with me as part of my health issues. She says people get offended. When I was teaching (primary) I was expected to touch on weight, diet exercise, and now sex education so surely part of a doctor’s job is to make you aware of how you can improve your outcomes. You’re lucky to have such a proactive doctor for so long. Yes, we are all winners.

    Day 8, Cumbria UK, nfd
I had a terrible day yesterday, it was my husbands birthday and because I knew i would be indulging in some cake I completely let my guard down and lost all control of those greed demons. Literally stuffing my mouth with anything I knew I shouldn’t be eating. I always use my fitness pal but even that just couldn’t deter me. 😩 never mind, another day with a fresh start.
I’m not committing to a fast day, as I would really struggle if I failed after yesterdays splurge. Sooooo lots of very mindful eating today in preparation for Thursdays fast then Fridays weigh in.
Sorry for rambling on, good luck everyone xxx

    Day 8 – Queensland, Australia – NFD

Short run this morning, and safely under TDEE today. Even fit in a piece of garlic bread with spaghetti bol dinner tonight. Much easier to stay under TDEE if I don’t eat between meals.
