Hi UK day 5 nfd
Still catching up but love reading all the posts so far. Just finished page 12!
@Ciren I remember reading about a woman who found her danger zone was on the homeward journey when she called at a petrol station for the evening paper. It was a habit that in addition to getting the newspaper a bar of chocolate always slipped in. Her mind associated the station with chocolate, she was practically salivating as she approached the filling station. So she changed her routine and a change of filling station did the trick. As once she changed her stop, her mind did not have the same association. Change the routine when you get home from work – brush your teeth as soon as you get in – have something nice but that will keep you still on plan, ready and waiting, a shower/bath without going into kitchen first, straight to another room other than kitchen and do some relaxation breathing? Might be worth a go?
@goldensun – thank you very much! ☺
Day 6 Tas Australia NFD
@bert1802 thanks your scales story was just what I needed. I do a lot of exercise as well so think that may effect the numbers on the scale. Off to try on some tight pants!
Day 6 – Perth, W.Aust – NFD
Hmmm, seems I may have lost a few days, never mind they were NFD’s and I was busy catching up with friends and enjoying a few glasses of bubbly along the way 🙂
A public holiday here in WA today, so a great opportunity to enjoy our late summer (although the humidity could go away) and again catch up with friends. Tomorrow is a FD and will probably be well needed by then.
Have a great day everyone and stay strong.
Day 5 St Louis US NFD
Have been doing so well. Went to lunch with a friend today and tried a new dish. On the way out I checked the calories and it was 970! Yikes! Still think I stayed within my limits for a non-fast day. Learning to use the French press to make a latte with skim milk for my fast day tomorrow. Planning to call the Y to schedule a fitness assessment and get started working out there. Feeling motivated and join my new community.
Sending everyone good vibes and wishes for a happy and healthy week.
Day 6 – Tokyo Japan – FD … 79.8kg (took some work though!)
I probably consumed too much salt over the weekend. My weight was running high until I did a workout, then down to 78.6kg. So I sweat a lot of the salt out.
@onahealthyhigh – I don’t watch my blood sugar everyday but when I do I try to record multiple times throughout the day. I’m trying to learn what really affects my blood sugar and how it behaves. I tend to run a little high on the low side but I also don’t go up that high. The highest reading I’ve had so far has been 146 mg/dl. (7.9 mmol/l) However my issue is my blood sugar doesn’t go down very easily and I’m often reading in the 110 mg/dl (6.1 mmol/l) range during eating days. Even in the morning my blood sugar is slightly elevated. I’m hopeful the fasting will help improve my low side readings.
Adding myself to the pocket fasters today! Let’s make the day count!

Day 5-Wisconsin, USA-NFD
Yesterday went to baby shower with tons of treats, but I just had ONE cookie. Today was a stressful day with a phone call at 7 AM from my best friend telling me her very elderly Dad had died. Even when something is inevitable it’s still heart wrenching when you lose a loved one. My heart has felt heavy and burdened all day as I have felt her pain and her loss. Grief is such a personal journey one must take alone, but I would give ANYTHING to take this pain from her.
Life has it’s ups and downs and there are a lot of things out of our control. But the things we CAN control is what we choose to eat and taking responsibility for our own personal health.
I hope my fellow pocket fasters are have a good start on their FD. I’m almost 1/2 through it and it is going well. I was concerned because my weight seemed too high but I think it was just too much salt. I was concerned enough to measure my waist (over the belly button) and surprised to see 82cm. That works out to a good ratio of .47 well under the .5 healthy line. (waist/height)
So when one thing isn’t going so well, something else is. 🙂
Fast on!

Day 6 – Perth AUS – FD
Surrounded by food and cooking for housemates = HARD! I got my curry out of the freezer thinking I might have to eat half now and half at dinner, but have avoided it so far. Added myself to the list. Sorry for another re-post; looks like there are many of us fasting today!

Day 6 Australia FD – @at apologies for not checking in over the weekend. I never seem to get the chance! Both were NFDs for me. Today’s FD was going to be a challenge as I had to attend a client lunch – fortunately among all the steaks, burgers, chicken and chips I found a Chirashi salad (now known as a poke salad for some reason) which I had without the rice. Delicious but it left me hungrier than if I just had my usual liquid-only lunch! 🙂
Day 6, Newcastle UK, FD
@at – for the record, Day 5, Newcastle UK, NFD. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday.
Day 6 Belfast FD (b2b tomorrow too)
Good morning fellow fasters and of course to those on a NFD! Despite having a good controlled weekend, the scales are up. I am disregarding those lying scales this morning. On a lovely sunny spring morning, nothing will keep me from starting this new week with a positive week. I’m putting this huge list in my pocket. Stay strong and happy fasting!
DAY 6 UK – NFD
Am away from home – so no routine – why?? I’m hopeless once I am in a different environment – have got to learn how to handle this, as every trip away is a few lbs put on, and then a load of b2b’s when I get back – which I have decided doesn’t suit me. Must get a grip.
Hayho “tomorrow is another day”. xx
Day 6 – Durham, UK – FD
Yep ^^ I’m in. Scales were very unkind this morning, so I’m fasting even though at home with baby on Mondays… we’ve had a rocky start this morning – world’s worst mam has already confiscated play table top due to climbing and a pound coin that she found somewhere and put straight in her mouth (baby, not mam). So lots of tears and it’s only 8:30am…
What can you do? Best of luck to my fellow pocketeers – I’m definitely going to need you today! x
Day 6 UK FD.
Bit of a strange week for me last week, I had a colonoscopy on Thursday so a restricted diet and a fast and then the sense of relief when it was over, determined to start this week on a positive note ,getting back to regular fast on Mondays , something I actually look forward to now.Concentrating on healthy eating and upping my exercise . Good Luck to all, particularly the fellow pocket fasters
Day 6 – Brittany, France – NFD
Yesterday’s planned half hour on the exercise bike never materialised, but I salvaged my conscience – such as it is – by humping wheelbarrows full of apple tree logs for an hour or so until the rain chased us indoors.
I have done my half hour on the bike this morning, though. It’s clearly the only time of day that I’m ever going to get it done.
Day 6 Uk Fast day
Hi AT, can you please add me to this months challenge!
This will be my first successful fast day for quite a while! It will be a success because my head is in the right place!
I’ve started reading Dr Moseleys book again over the weekend, it reminded me of the reasons I started 5.2 last May on Coda’s first challenge.(thankyou codax) I lost 2.5st and felt so good! Then with just 7lbs off my target things happened in the family that caused my stress levels to rise, result being mindLESS eating, low self esteem etc etc. It’s been a downward spiral but sadly not on the scales!!
But now I’m back on the horse with new resolve! Weighed this morning 148lbs so up 5lbs since the beginning of the Feb challenge! Not good but the only way is down, starting with todays fast day.
Good luck to all, onwards and DOWN!!!
Day 6 Portugal FD
Hi everyone. I am fasting today also, along with many others. Apologies for not checking in over the weekend, my goodness this weekend was awful in terms of food intake … homemade caramel squares …I couldn’t resist, they are my favourite. I notice when I don’t check in my motivation goes way down. I need to lose weight this month after a stagnant February. So today begins a new week, with new resolve. 35 mins exercise already done.
Day 6 Kent UK FD still avoiding scales and won’t be Hula hooping today but I will do extra side bends. I have injured my lower back so jolting movement uncomfortable. I will manage bowls though, it’s always best to keep moving.
Regretted eating some leftover bread yesterday as it gave me a stomach ache all night and feel bloated today. Why do I do it? Because I didn’t plan to have an alternative ( cloud bread- made from eggs) Madness. Birds are getting the rest of the garlic and french bread today.
I think the ‘no weighing’ is working for me, no reward for big losses and no lows when expected loss doesn’t show. I would have been dreading today’s weigh in even though I would have known it would be gone within two days. It’s more ‘normal’ to weigh monthly. I hope to stick ‘monthly weighing’ way of life. After all, the priority is healthy eating and fasting to improve self healing. Weighloss should be the bonus.
We can do this folks just learn to control NFD’s and we have it cracked. We all seem pretty good on Fast Days. Mostly under 500 calories. Like many I have set meals on Fast days- fish and veg for dinner, no carbs. Drink every hour for the rest of the day. Get an early night with a good book if I get the chance.
Today’s plans be exercises then dog walk( use Nordic Poles and do 6,000 steps), bowls(4,000 steps)garden club(sitting) the bridge (sitting) tonight, not much time to eat but plenty of temptation. Cake at garden club and chocolate biscuits at Bridge. I will refuse both.
30 Fasters today, good luck
NFDayers probably more important that you keep a check on those calorie rich foods. SUGAR is undoing the good work you do on fast days. One treat is less damaging than 6.
Day 6 – Queensland, Australia – FD
Successful FD. Stuck to planned meals, and just finished my hot milo. Soon going to bed to do it again tomorrow.
Amazed at all the others fasting today, too! Hope you all had a great day.
I log my food using MFP – it has a great food database, and once you have all your regular foods in, logging is pretty quick and easy. I have been on MFP for around 3 years, logging my exercise, but not always logging food.
Day 6, London, UK, FD
I’m with you fellow pocketeers……….We’ve GOT this!!!!!!!!
Started off on the right foot with a litre of water & a 3 mile walk before 9 a.m. This will be my add-on for this week, managing to squeeze my walking in before starting my day………….’cause it’s just not happening in the evenings!!!!
I have my weapons of choice at the ready today………….bone broth, vegetable soup and 29 fellow pocketeers who’ve got my back!!!!!! Thanks guys, keep strong!!
Day 5 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
Day 6 – CARDIFF UK – FD
Starting Weight : 165.5lbs
Today’s Weight : 164.0lbs (1.5lb) March Target 8.5lb
Bad NFD yesterday, didn’t eat enough as food plans changed late and didn’t fit in with what I like to eat. What I did have was quite salty and so scales up today dye to water retention.
I considered not completing a FD today, but don’t want to get off track, so will continue as planned and I’ve added my name to the Pocketeers. Another Mass Fast Monday

Day 6 Surrey UK NFD
Was away for the weekend, so could not post. Had a really good FD on Friday, (I may have said that already) and not too bad over the weekend. Taking each day being mindful of what is going on is proving to be quite useful so far.
I am intending to fast tomorrow. Good luck to the very long list of fasters today!
Day 4 London NFD
Day 5 London NFD
Day 6 London FD
Had a weekend of fun with wedding and then lunch with friends yesterday. I definitely made a few bad choices (extra slice of cheesecake and way too much prosecco). But todays weighin was only 0.1kg heavier than Friday so can’t have been as bad as I thought!
Today is my 3rd ever FD and looking forward to it! I’m planning sushi for lunch and home made veg soup for supper, with lots of herbal teas in between.
I found a really nice savoury tea called Heath & Heather Digestive Superseeds (fennel, coriander and fenugreek) – so tasty and easy to drink.
Good luck to all fasters today! we can do it!
