  • Day 3 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Good day yesterday, well under TDEE. Have a busy day planned today, so might not take lots of time to eat much. That’s not bad!

I’m generally a daily weighed as well, and I really miss my home scale when I am out of town. It’s so nice though to come back from being at family’s for a while and see the scale has not moved. Yeah for that!

@fatrabbit – sorry for your injury. Rest as much as you are able!

    Onward and downward!

Just had 4g of Marmite in a hot drink. Only 10 calories!

What an AMAZING tip – very nice pick-me-up, so thanks to you @fatrabbit.

Anyone who hasn’t tried this – give it a go :0)

PS “normal” people might prefer 2g rather than 4g, but I like it strong!

    Day 3 – USA – NFD

    Day 3 Maine NFD

Good morning all! We’re in Ormond Beach, Fl for 4 nites – just in time for a cold front to blow in! Literally blow – 30 mph winds – but I’m going to brave it & walk the beach! Have been missing my therapy walk on the way down.

Yesterday’s fast day was very successful – down a pound!! Yay – as @at quoted last month – “proud of what I’ve accomplished & have faith I’ll make my goal”. Just love that.

I read an article yesterday on jumpstarting metabolism – the usual – 10,000 steps a day, then whatever your first meal of the day is should have 30 grams of protein, but most interesting – preloading water. A study on obesity in Great Britain found that the people who drank 16 oz of water 30 minutes before every major meal, lost 5 x’s the weight over 12 weeks than those who only had 8oz before!! They said everything else was the same. Even the slightest bit of dehydration interferes w/your metabolism working at it’s most efficient, but preloading is key. I’m going to try it!

Hubby doing pretty well on the trip – down about 5 lbs total since feb 1st. He fasted w/me yesterday. I found a Friday’s w/a 500 calorie salad for dinner last night & he had the same. Although it was very overcast, I prevailed & we walked. Sure enough, pouring when we finished…not sure I’ll hear the end of this one – we were drenched!

@happymargo – oddly enough, my hubby like your DH. He truly likes it when we eat the same thing together. I had just learned to happily go with it, but as the weight has creeped on, I had to sit down w/him & explain that this 5/2 is a WOL for me from now on & he can get with the program or not. He’s half heartedly into it, but heard me & is being a good sport when I go for my 5th cup of herbal tea!!

Happy belated birthday, to our birthday fasters – hope you all had a great celebration. And, as far as teas – I love 2 cups of oolong during the early day (has a lot of caffeine), then switch to de-caf green tea. Looking to get licorice root tea – heard it’s delicious & really helpful for sugar cravings.

Sorry, for this long post – I know reading them is like a full time job! As I said before, I’m looking at this as a nutrition class & reading your posts are my twice daily assignment! Not a hardship – look forward to it! All your posts are so valuable!

Make it a great day everybody! Remember discipline comes from doing!

2nd post – what exactly is marmite? I looked up def – black, gooey spread like yeast?

@fat rabbit – feel better! Imaginary hula hooping – certainly a challenge!

@scs ….marmite…you either love it or you hate it. A peculiarly UK thing. It’s a salty yeast extract spread. Similar to vegemite if that helps. Ps I love it!

Day 2, Dunsborough, West Aust. FD
Struggled today to get through the afternoon with massive hunger pangs. Just kept thinking of how this is doing me good on the inside as well as outside. Made chicken soup for dinner and munched on a few green beans.
    All good 😊

    FlourBaby and fatrabbit….tomorrow we FAST!
I’ll be thinking of you both.

And…exhale: I like your rule; once you start a fast-day you ALWAYS see it through. I should go with that one too.

HollyLJ: Mid-afternoon is also my danger-time. I get home from work; and sometimes it’s like a switch flicks, and I go off a fast big time.
I must learn to deal with this one.

    Day 3 – USA – NFD
Second post – @scs, @happymargo, I feel you about our DHs…mine is the cook and he graciously eats sandwiches on my FDs, so I feel that I don’t want to push my luck doing ADFs…if I lose a little more slowly, that’s okay; at least he won’t feel that I don’t appreciate his culinary efforts! @Ciren, @flourbaby, @fatrabbit, Saturdays is one of my FDs, so I will jump in your pockets as well!

    Day 3-Wisconsin, USA-NFD
Trying to keep my calories well below my TDEE on NFD days and more around the 1,200 calorie area. Even that seems like a lot of food to me now. I have been following this ADF plan since Feb. 22nd and have yet to feel the least bit hungry. My cravings for sweets and carbs completely gone! That is a win in itself, besides the weight loss. Drinking enough water is what has kept me from feeling hungry. I have also cut way back on sugar and carbs. A lot easier to do now that I don’t have those over the top cravings anymore. Like many others have said, I actually look forward and like my FD 500 calorie days more than my NFD days, because those take more work and thought! The very best to everyone as we continue to do this for both our health and our bodies…

    Day 3 – Munic/ Germany – NFD

SCS, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for sharing that information about eating 30 gms. of protein for breakfast and drinking 16 oz. of water BEFORE every meal. I was always drinking water after I got done with breakfast and lunch and an orange vitamin water (sugar free) while eating my breakfast. I was trying to drink all my water by 2 PM so I wouldn’t have to deal with getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. But after what you shared, I will drink 16 oz. of water before dinner too! We have to look at losing weight like a science experiment. We are all trying to figure out that right formula that helps us lose weight the fastest and in the healthiest way. Thank you again for sharing this information and continued success on your weight loss!

    Day 3 – Cumbria UK – FD

Aiming for a water/tea with a dash of skimmed milk FD today.
Went for a lovely walk with my regular walking group – very wet underfoot but the no rain – enjoyed a lovely pot of tea with a lot of chat afterwards.

I have just been updating the spreadsheet and so far today 26 have posted an intention for a FD – that’s already a large group of “Pocketeers” to mentally support each other across the globe!!!
Out of the 141 who have registered for the challenge 21 have yet to post anything for Day 1 or otherwise…….you know who you are – not too late to join us…….

@1maureen – YES I have found you – you are posting on the right page – you are so correct sugar is not our friend – so many products we buy have sugar added in and yet if we make it at home we don’t add sugar – personally I’m not totally sugar free but I strongly limit the amount I have in my diet.
@quebecoise – Moi aussi j’aime trop les poissons et fruits de mer – I will be doing something with fish tomorrow for our evening meal!!!
@onahealthyhigh – I admire you for aiming to cutting out your wine completely – My OH has not drunk any alcohol for some 15yrs but I do enjoy my glass of two of wine 3/4 times a week!!!!!
@lou Belles – great walk – I have missed doing long walks since my knee injury but I’m currently managing around 3 miles – at least I can still get out and enjoy our beautiful countryside
@fuvvie – Enjoy your family over the weekend – sounds like you are a close family – very precious
@berlin_78 – “Stop beating yourself up! You are a work in progress which means you get there a little at a time, not all at once”
@peachyoat and @tobestrong and @lyna2017 (I have got you now – I think your earlier post did not register) – welcome all 3 of you to our 31 Day March 2017 Challenge – there is a lot of information available – can I suggest you read my first post on Page 1 and also @coda‘s post at the top of page 2 which will answer a lot of questions you may have and off you go – try to post daily as it keeps us accountable and most of us have found this so helpful
@dykask – not cheating you did it – I always weigh the morning after my 2nd FD of the week – stay strong and positive and before you know that weight will be nearer 79kg than 80kg – btw great advice you posted to @laurielr
@lilymartin – We all have off days – Hope today is more of CD – Hugs
@bert1802 – you might surprise yourself and continue giving the soda a miss………I also agree with what that doctor said – we have to take responsibility
@steffieagle – interesting cleanse drink recipe – can I ask how you started on it and why
@orpheusx – great weight loss – keep positive and strong
@jojo58 – Great post on Day 3 with good advice for anyone new to this WOL – I especially like “ACCEPTANCE THAT SOME CHANGES ARE NECESSARY TO SUCCEED IN LIFE” – I’m afraid I’ll have to pull out of the Hoola Hoop challenge – my right knee was not too happy!!! instead I’m doing a series of yoga/pilates moves daily so still in the waist training challenge!
@mrsgettingthere (any cumbrian!) – great weight loss since 24/2 and as you say such an encouraging start
@fatrabbit – OUCH hope you feel better soon – I have had to opt out of the hoola hoop challenge but now doing pilates/yoga series of exercises for the waist training challenge instead.
@ciren2 – I will be holding on to you firmly tomorrow on your FD – write my name on your pocket list and whenever tempted just imagine a big hug from me – YOU CAN DO THIS
@and… exhale – I love your FD rule
@fivetwofan5252 – I see no reason why you cannot post a link to The Benefits of IF to share with us – it will of great benefit for those new to the fasting lifestyle.

Well that took me a good couple of hours reading and catching up – I do read every single one of your posts but cannot comment on all but remember I’m there in the background silently encouraging you if you are struggling. Some people are finding this WOL much easier than others but please remember that perseverance will lead to success and “Never let a stumble in the road be the end of your journey”

CAN I REMIND YOU TO PLEASE
    * Start your daily post with the day of the month, where you are, and if you are doing a FD (Fast day) or a NFD (Non Fast Day).
Example for me is Day 1 – Cumbria UK – FD.
    * Even if you are on Day 6 of your 5:2 journey for this challenge on 3rd March you will be on Day 3……this is to help me when I’m reading your posts and transferring data to the spreadsheet – Thank you for your understanding.

In keeping with what @jojo58 said in her post I leave you with my positive quote for today
“Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything” George Bernard Shaw

Day 3 -NSW Aust – NFD not sure if i went over my 1760 calories today

    Day 3, FD, USA
Getting used to this M/W/F FD gig as I start the day with 2 glasses of lemon water, coffee, then a yoga class. Day flies by and I get to have a meal later after I drink lots of tea and water. The inner attitudes of our mind reflect the outer attitudes of our lives.” So trying to be focusing on peaceful thoughts and people I love or things I love, and less on stress or food. There are so many wonderful things in lifeπŸ˜‰
So another weigh in tomorrow after FD. That keeps me in check. Hope I sleep, as that’s a tough thing for me with FD. Peace to you all!

Day 3 – Surrey, UK FD

In advance days 4&5 will be NFD. Thanks!

My swim last night was thwarted by a charity swimathon taking place. I only found out when I was standing outside with all my gear πŸ™

Day 3 Sirisan ST Louis US NFD
Yesterday was a fast day for me and it was a little bit tougher than the first one. I felt cold at the end of the day couldn’t figure out why but then realized it was probably the fasting. I didn’t feel like I was starving but wasn’t quite feeling energetic. However I was very excited to help on the scale this morning and see I was down 3 pounds! My weight has been fluctuating between 147 and 148 pounds for awhile. When I posted my original entry I said 147 but then switched it to 148. Gerring down to 145 feels solid. Definitely motivated to keep going. I’m going to stick with the 5/2 for now although I see there are other options. I’m gaining so much from these post and learning what everyone else is doing, struggles and successes. Looking forward to continue journeying with all you lovely folks.

I remember reading a study a while back that drinking cold water before a meal can be helpful in losing weight. Someone posted today about drinking 16 ounces before a meal to kick start the metabolism. I’m wondering if that was a similar study. I’m going to try that as it seems a simple thing to do.

I do have a question about the books and resources. When I started doing this a few years ago I used a book called 5/2 Diet by A woman named Whitehall. I think that was her name. The books on here are different. i’m assuming these are similar but I’m just curious as I was going to buy one of these that are listed here.

    Day 3, Newcastle UK, NFD

Late post for me as I’ve just got home after a short trip. Good NFD yesterday and today going well. All the best to everyone for the weekend.

Day 3, Near San Francisco, CA, FD

After my failed fast day yesterday, I got right back on the wagon. Thanks to folks who offered help. I’m with Sirisan – I’m going to try lost of water before meals throughout the whole month. I’m pretty sure I never get enough water. All the plum trees in the neighborhood are in bloom, so I’m for a nice long walk with my golden. Best of luck to all.

Massachusetts, USA, FD (third for week because I feel like I need the jumpstart!) Was down two lbs from Wednesday this a.m., but realize it’s likely water weight. Still, it’s a nice thing to see!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

    2nd post: FD, USA
Cleo: well done. 2 lbs is 2 lbs. it’ll stick. Hey, I’m from Mass, too. Raised on the North Shore, but now in South Shoreβ˜€οΈ Brace yourself for bitter cold tomorrow!

    Day 3, Winnipeg, Canada, FD

Good morning fasters! I tried to read all of the posts, but I missed a day, and there are a lot to catch up on, so it was just a quick skim. It is so inspiring to see the honesty here – we all have good days and bad days, and the support system is immensely helpful either way.

I don’t normally fast on Fridays – I like my Friday-Sunday to be NFDs, but this week it just didn’t work out that way. I will be absolutely fine today until I get home from work – then it becomes a challenge not to pour a glass of wine and have dinner with my OH. I will stay strong though, and look forward to a nice bowl of cereal in the morning. It’s been a successful week, and I will be doing a great workout tomorrow.

I’m training for an upcoming mountain hike/climb, which registered as 103 flights of stairs on my fitbit last year when we climbed it (Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, AZ). In training, I have been climbing my stairs at home. Last weekend’s workout was 105 flights (14 stairs up each time) in 60 minutes, some done 2 steps at a time to help prepare for the terrain. Tomorrow I am shooting for 110, in 60 mins or less. The climb should be much easier this year!

I probably won’t be checking in again until Monday, which will be my next FD.

Stay strong everyone…have a day you can be proud of, and have a lovely weekend!!

Day 3, Rocky Mountains, US, FD

    Hi all,

    Stayed within TDEE yesterday.
Today FD, volunteering in the afternoon from 3 to 7. Should help with the fast as I will be distracted.

All the best and Ciao!!! 😊😊😊

metatauta: I’ve got you on my list for tomorrow.

AT: Thank you for all your hugs…I LOVE them, they help a lot. I’ll have you on my list tomorrow as a reminder.

and…exhale: remembering your rule; when starting a fast-day ALWAYS complete it.
    Ok my little team…let’s GO!
    Flourbaby,
    fatrabbit,
    metatauta
and AT (for hugs and moral support) xx

    Day 3, NYC, NFD…123.0 lbs

Yesterday’s FD was not stellar but I am still down a pound since Monday. It’s Friday and my college boy is getting on the bus for Spring break at 6 pm. Woo hoo!! I get my baby boy for a whole week!

    Day 3, 2nd post,

Just to help @at keep track……….please note,
We’re all on the same day whether FD or NFD……i.e. today March 3rd is ALWAYS day 3, March 5th will be day 5 etc. etc. etc. As long as you know the date (same as Day X) you’ll be good. We really don’t want to get to the point where I’m on day 17 and you’re on day 257!!!!! @at would keel over trying to keep track LOL!!!!!

    So our posts should read

Day X, somewhere, someplace, NFD (or FD ) (this ONLY applies to March Xth!!)

Our friends in the southern Hemisphere will, at some point, be 1 day ahead in relation to the date, but that’s just because this site is based on GMT!!!

@fivetwofan5252…………do you mean those with taste buds, when you refer to normal!!!!! Guess which camp I belong to……………………………Love it…..or hate it???????????????????

Ooooh, @scs & @happymargo, love the visual of you sitting your toddlers down and explaining your commitment to 5:2, patiently ignoring the pouty lips and downcast faces!!!!!!!!….Sorry I meant husbands!!

OK, so pocketeers for day 3 as below,

    @flourbaby
    @ciren2
    @fatrabbit
    @metatauta
@at – (cheerleading from the sidelines on a NFD)

Please add your name if you wish to join, we make a list of those participating and keep it in our pockets for that FD to encourage, inspire, and basically hold each other up!!! Sometimes I start a FD thinking β€˜I’ve GOT this’ only to find at 11a.m. I want to chew my arm off, and just the thought of the pocketeers giving me a leg-up can make ALL the difference!!!

Good luck everybody, we’ve got this!!!!!!!!

Day 3 Placentia California USA – NFD.

Yesterday was my FD and I did ok – not as well as my last 2. I went over by about 10 calories. Plus I got grumpy at the end of the day but I think that was because I had to argue with Sprint over my phone bill. πŸ™‚

    Day 3 – SW WA USA-NFD

Faefaye – other teas I enjoy are anything mint or peppermint like green mint tea, also passion fruit tea, plus several varieties Tazo puts out such as Refresh & Zen.

I like lemon ginger tea. Not a fruity tea fan.

Day 3 of March, USA, FD since yesterday’s didn’t pan out. Munching on a little jerky to keep hunger at bay. Travelling later this afternoon, so will have to be careful if we stop to grab a bite, but shouldn’t be a problem. By the time I get to where I am going it’ll be late enough that I can just drink some water or tea and head to bed. Also happy that even after a failed FD yesterday I am down several ounces, so…. Good luck all!

@at Re my morning cleanse: I originally started just with the lemon juice, which I read about on various health sites online. I added cinnamon as it is said to help moderate high blood pressure. Added honey to take the edge off the lemon juice. Added Apple Cider Vinegar after reading about its long term use for overall health. Added coconut oil as it is often mentioned for weight loss on health sites. So I got my “cleanse” together from reading and recommendations. All are natural and organic. Start with one ingredient and add in others. All are healthy elements. Works for me.

    Day 4 NZ NFD
Scales are kind this morning, down 1kg to 82kg. Off to an all day choir workshop today with OH. We have organised a lovely salad roll each so that we are not tempted to go to a cafe! Have a good weekend everyone.

Day 4 Sunshine Coast Aus NFD 107.5 kgs

Yesterday I didn’t get to read the posts while waiting at the airport, as I didn’t wait at the airport. I drove to a sports store in Brisbane instead and bought a hula hoop. It is 1.5 kgs and feels as thought is bruising me when I try and spin it.. I’m truly hopeless at it at the moment. I get it going and then it gradually slows till by the 4th or 5th spin, it falls to the floor. I am expecting to have bruised shins as it gets me there on the way down lol. I asked OH if he could do it, and he can πŸ€”πŸ˜’ Then my daughter had a go and she can do it. My 10 year old grandson can even do it with my 100cm hoop. I SHALL PREVAIL.

An all day choir workshop sounds right up my alley, pamie. Enjoy.

Just a comment about “It’s water only”. That is not a bad thing. When I lose the water weight, my legs lose the oedema that is sitting there. I walk more easily and they lose that horrid tight feeling. When you eat lots of sugar and refined carbs, they cling onto water and salt. When you ditch these, you lose water and salt. That is why Dr Fung gives his patients the bone broth with salt when they are fasting, replacing lost salt and minerals. As long as you keep up your water intake, then shedding that retained fluid is a good thing I believe.

@at, we are a close family and are lucky enough to all live within commuting distance by car. Daughter No3 lives in Toowoomba which is a 2 hour 50 minute drive away, but very doable for special occasions and even not so special occasions. The siblings get on very well together and we can expect lots of laughs. My son has given up alcohol for March and so I am joining him. Bring on the mineral water.

Day 3, Winnipeg, Canada, FD, post #2

I am struggling…so far on liquid only, and it’s been one of those days when the customer is always WRONG. Ugh…TGIF. I may end up using my calories for vodka and fizzy water this evening. On an empty tummy, 1 or 2 of those will do the work of 3 or 4 on a NFD!

@flourbaby, thinking of the ‘pocketeers’ is helping me to stay strong even though I’m not on the list, but it’s getting increasingly difficult. This is why I rarely fast on Fridays (or Sat/Sun). Still, I know I’m not alone!

Keep up the good work everyone, and have a great weekend!

    Day 3 | NFD | UK

    Day 2 : Cheshire, UK : NFD
    Day 3 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

Indulged a bit today. I’ve realised that if I’ve been successful with my goal in a challenge then I’m a bit relaxed at the beginning of the next. I’m aware of it so I’m able to be mindful and not go crazy πŸ™‚

Finally bought my hula hoop today so will try it tomorrow.

Haven’t caught up on posts as been very busy at work and have had guests.

    Cheerio for now!

    2nd post 🌈

I have updated 28 Day Challenge with results, if you were part of that group results have now been added, so if you have stopped you notifications just wanted to let you know.

Thanks for all your help, thanks for all your thanks, over to @at for this wonderful thread πŸ‘β€πŸŒΊ

Let’s all have a great challenge! Glad to see familiar names, also great to see new people, we can all learn from both.

Love the theme TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER πŸ‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ»πŸ‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ»πŸ‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ»πŸ‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ»πŸ‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

    Day 3 – Perth AUS – NFD
    Day 4 – Perth AUS – FD

Yesterday was meant to be a fast day, but it didn’t exactly go to plan πŸ™‚ Will give it a go today.

I weigh and measure once a week (Sunday AM) which is usually after a NFD. Will be a bit different this week, so will be interesting to see what happens to the numbers after a FD. Wonder if they’ll be more or less the same or significantly lower?

Day 3, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Current weight 142.6 – Below Goal Weight of 145

THANK YOU all for the wonderful birthday wishes. What a supportive group of friends I have found here.

Went out with friends today to continue the celebrating (and it shall carry on into the weekend, haha….) Ate no breakfast, ate a light lunch (part of a rice/cheese/bean burrito and water off the dollar menu at Taco Bell) my friend was buying my lunch and laughed when my total was 97 cents after the senior discount – told her I just wasn’t very hungry but would try to eat a whole lot next year, had a big salad with ACV for dressing and one slice of pizza for dinner. Getting ready to exercise, need to catch up on my water intake for the day as it is harder to keep guzzling when I am out and about.

    To your health, all.

    Day 3 Ireland NFD
Haven’t had a chance to catch up on posts yet. Roll on the weekend!

    Day 3 Canada NFD

Feeling good today and staying within my TDEE. MUST STAY STRONG OVER THE WEEKEND.

    2nd post

When those pesky scales play tricks…

I have a 1kg plaguing me at the moment. One minute it’s there and the next gone. Food in transit – I don’t think so. No issues there. No bloating this week – shoes and tum are comfortable even in the heat. Position of scales on the floor – possible. FDs and NFDs healthy and accountable. No alcohol in the house – calories automatically reduced by 365 a day! I’m not an exerciser, just a mover, walking, gardening, cleaning cooking, chasing grandchildren, so it can’t be muscles.

    But:

I’m definately thinner in photos. I take a weekly selfie on official weigh in days.
My Australian size 8 pants are loose again.
That annoying back fat roll has completely disappeared this week.
    DH comments.
    My energy levels are up.

So, when the scales annoy, think about small changes. Have your measurements changed? Are your clothes looser? How do you feel? Sometimes the scales don’t reflect the bigger picture.

I admire @jojo28 for rejecting the scales this month. Perhaps that’s the way to go. Focussing on what we put into our bodies and not numbers is more important.

We have one body, learn to love it, nurture it and challenge it. It’s the only one we have and it’s health should be the driver.

Have a happy and healthy weekend all.

    Day 3 NFD Surrey UK
Oops, sorry I’m late AT. Had lunch out today but kept within my TDEE. I like to weigh in weekly on a Saturday and will post my result tomorrow. Although I’ve only done one FD I have kept well within my TDEE so hoping for a little loss.

    Day 3…..Florida…..FD

Today was a FD, nothing remarkable happened and for once I have nothing insightful to add. Wow, that’s a first Right?

I didn’t think about soda once today, I’m thinking I’m over the initial shock of taking it out of my diet. I did however add another cup of coffee to my morning. Not sure, if I’m happy about this, don’t get me wrong I love me some coffee but I try my hardest to limit it as I can become over zealous with it if I’m not careful……

Well, I must be off, so much to do so little time, If I don’t get off this thing….

    Peace be with you!

    Day 4 Tas Australia NFD

    Day 4 – NZ – NFD

Feeling hungry today, not sure it’s because it’s the first day after a FD or cause it’s Saturday and no work to keep my mind off food!

    Day 4 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 78.4 kg

I went 43 hours on my fast before breaking it with nuts and coffee with milled flaxseed mixed in. Then a little later my unsweetened oatmeal with about 3 to 4 servings of fruit mixed in, so it is sweetened. Today I’m sure I’ll eat past my TDEE a little, but everything tastes good after no food for almost two days.

    Day 3 – Canada- NFD

@Ciiren, @flourbaby, and @Metatuata lets do this tomorrow. It’s totally doable if we commit to the plan. I’m counting on you and I promise I won’t let you down on my end.

This morning I was out for my weekly breakfast with a dear friend, later this afternoon I met up with another friend for wine (3-4) and then curry later for supper. I think .. No, I know a FD is called for tomorrow to bring me back in line.

    Sleep tight.

    Day 1 – Queensland, Australia – NFD
    Day 2 – Queensland, Australia – NFD
    Day 3 – Queensland, Australia – NFD
    Day 4 – Queensland, Australia – NFD

Hi, I’m new here. I hope I’m not too late to join in the challenge this month. I just read Dr Mosely’s book, and started 5:2 on Monday (Feb 27). I did my fast days Monday and Tuesday, which is why it looks like I haven’t started this month πŸ™‚

I found the fast days easier than I expected, which I was really pleased about. I thought there was no way I could do it, and that I would get too hungry, weak and dizzy. I did get hungry, but when you read the book, it reassures you that the hunger pangs do pass – and they do!

On my fast days, I drank a lot of water. I don’t know what others do, but I found it easier to skip breakfast, and then join people in the lunch room for lunch. I think I enjoy the social aspect of lunch. I ate tuna or egg and salad (which I think will be a staple on fast days); then for dinner I had fruit, nuts and yoghurt, or fish and steamed vegetables. I am pretty sure these will be my go-to meals on fast days. I still need to work out a low-cal hot drink for the evening. I usually have a hot milo with my husband after the kids go to bed, but I haven’t had the 100 cals spare to do it yet. It’s early days, and I hope to learn more, and get some ideas from the people here.

I run a bit, too, and am curious as to how others go with running on fast days.

Sorry this got so long. I will try and catch up on the thread now.

    Day 4 NFD NZ
I’ve already eaten my cals for the day at 4pm
I honestly don’t know what has been triggered in my head in the last year but my entire way of doing things that worked for me all my thin adult life seems to have been deserted and I don’t know what or how to go back 18months in time and find my old wol that kept me thin and happy.
I know technically I’m still slimmish but I’ve completely lost the plot with food.
I love my FD but am constantly self sabotaging on NFDs and hating my self for it.
I’m stuck with about 2kg weight loss in 6months with this wol and that is so pathetic it hardly counts as loss when so many of you are losing that in a week.
I know I sound negative but I’m stuck with this feeling of failure and hating myself for it. I need my old habits back, this out of control blob I’ve given myself permission to become is not making me happy.
Why am I doing this? And how do I find my old habits and my old waistline again before this gets worse?
