  • Day 17 – Switzerland – NFD
Finding it difficult to jump back on the waggon. Healthy veggie dinner, hot bath and early night should help. Is anyone else having caffeine issues? I just can’t get myself going without coffee but find I crave something sweet to go with it (not on FDs, oddly fine with black tea and determination!). Having given up alcohol for two months, I’m a bit glum about the idea of having to limit coffee too!

    Day 17,FD, Canada
Well done Loubelles and B2TF. You are my inspiration to “keep the fast” today.

Liked this bit of wisdom I read somewhere re: tracking calories:

“Your body will keep an accurate journal, regardless of what you write down.”

    So true

Day 16 and 17, NFD, London
Have had 2 days of NFD as needed to change fast days because of evenings out. Was pretty good with meals and no snacking.
PT session today so FD will be tomorrow!
    Hope everyone is being strong!!

Day 17 Surrey UK NFD Checking in, really busy, will catch up on posts later!

NYC, Day 17, NFD, but carefully.

I have been AWOL. I gained back two pounds…ouch. Must get them OFF before Thanksgiving. Banging my head against a wall, and going to get more tea.

    Hi UK fd day 17

    @lilymartin what an honest post

    @B2TF – well done you!

@fuvvie – mixed blessings I am sure but you will adapt and maybe in the long run it will be a weight of your shoulders.

@therealwil78 – lol so you can’t have what you don’t want, what about changing the thinking you can have whatever you want but you just don’t want it? Failing that could you have some veggie strips, or settle for a smaller than usual popcorn or a handful from your OH.

Something for anyone to try – have some frozen grapes in the freezer they may prevent a complete meltdown.

    Day 17 – Los Angeles – NFD

So the fast yesterday went really well. The only addition to the Veggie soup that i needed was a cup of fiber one. I’m finding that a really good late night go to treat as it’s 120 calories and very hearty.

Today I will endeavor to stay within my calorie goals and have a nice food day. The scale was the lowest since August 1st so that’s nice.

Thanks for all the support and inspirational words….you know who you are.

    Day 17/NFD/Georgia

London | Day 17 | FD 36h liquid only fast

How’s it going my fellow fasters? πŸ™‚
Sorry it’s a crazy day at work. So, will write a longer post bit later.
    Stay strong x

Day 17: Non-fast day in Gloucestershire, UK:
Did alright with yesterday’s fast-day. Just a bowl of porridge first thing…then a long day at work….and then managed the toughest part, which is when I get home and before going to bed.
This morning I was back to my goal weight, thank goodness.

hi anybody doing 30 day fast?

Day 17 – WA USA FD

Happy I stayed under TDEE yesterday even with staff meal at lunch & snacks at afternoon mtg. I did stay mindful of what I ate and recorded all in my food journal.

Looking forward to a cup of bone broth to help me through this FD. Plan to stay liquid until evening meal.

Thank you for those who step up to host these challenges. I would be interested in one for December as well.

Day 17|FD| Toronto in Gorgeous Sunshine!!
I am thinking about a first time 4:3 this week with Saturday as an added FD. Doing an FD on a weekend may involve additional will (wont) power on my part.

@yola – a 30 day fast!!!! Is that a typo? If not I think a 30 day fast should only be done under supervision of a doctor.

Always wise words Coda! Good perspective.

    Day 17/18, NZ, NFD
Finished b2b yesterday lunchtime & went straight into family gathering lunch – way too rich & heavy for tum & suffered all afternoon & night!! Felt very unwell last night – need brain & tummy to make the connection together!!!
Going to keep today very light – plan all meals & stick to it.

    Take care all. Xxx

    Day 17 | NFD | Bucks UK

A reduction on the scales this morning of 2lbs 😊 (happy dance!)
Will attempt a FD tomorrow to make it 4:3

    2nd post today
Ciren2 – congratulations for being at goal wt. How much have you lost
    How long did it take?

    Success stories are encouraging!

    AnneMarilyn: Hi, thanks.
I was overweight by two stone when I started the first Coda-challenge at the beginning of May. I reached my goal weight in early September.
I was two (once three) stone overweight for more than twenty five years until then. Ever since I was pregnant with my daughter, aged 38, in fact!

    Day 18 – Melbourne – NFD

Day 17 Cornwall Uk nfd 2nd post

A good day under tdee, very pleased!.

Liquid fast tomorrow, not done one for quite a while so will need to keep you all in my pocket and read posts regularly!!

I’m prepated with bone broth defrosting and plenty of fruit teas and sparkling mineral water on hand.

Good luck every one, good night sleep well!
Equally those now waking, good morning and hope you had a good nights sleep!! Have a good day!

Hi fellow fasters pissupoosa, coda, lany36, hope all ok with you and you are happy with how your days have gone.

Busy at work and nightmare getting back on trains (again) aside from having to walk purposefully past food outlets on various train concourses haven’t really been tempted. Just coffee with a splash, black tea and water. Not missing a salty hit unusually.

Looking forward to NFD tomorrow. Xx

    Day 17 UK NFD

Running out of days this week to do my FDs, tomorrow will have to be one. Said this everyday so far this week, yummy things get in my way, need to “Just do it” . I know I can. And won’t let my 30 day challenge team down!

I know I feel better, in body and mind when I do FD’s and it gives me a great sense of achievement.

Good luck all, love the positive posts and good news stories, but also love the strugglers stories too and the determination that the next day will be better!

    D18, Melbourne, Australia FD
Up to 36hr aiming for 48hr ending with dinner tonight. Feeling good and strong with no sign of hunger. Weight this morning 62.9kg.
    Happy Friday all x

Day 17: Pacific NW USA, 18:6 NFD

Some of our foodie friends (none, including my OH are overweight) brought their latest creations to share to watch a movie with us last night. Ex: Fuyu persimmon slices with homemade soft yogurt “cheese” wrapped with Parma prosciutto, bay shrimp mousse and the sparkling to go with. Also chocolate coated chili spiced pecans. I didn’t have the wine but did add up more than TDEE with the rest. I thought I had safeguarded my cals by having a very light, 200 calorie lunch and then ate a steamed salmon and veg dinner before they arrived. On a FD I would have no trouble just saying “no thanks” but last night I think I was actually hungry. I even ate a hard boiled egg in the midst to try to forego the more high calorie nibbles but it didn’t help. This morning I haven’t felt hungry and with the busy work load today I don’t think I’ll eat except for my BPC till dinner making it an 18 hour NFD. I’m just perplexed if this pendulum swing from hunger one day to none the next on my NFD’s is OK or not so OK.

Holly – “pear shaped afternoon”, made me laugh, I guess yesterday my evening was more of a butternut squash shape!

Mummy, Mflood, and BrightonBelle – hope your b2b’s are going well

Happy – We will have several family joinings over the holidays – my Mom already assumes I’ve been brain washed by a cult but is willing to make a no-carb pie if I send her the recipe (LOL)! I still have some ‘splainin’ to do!

Fuvvie – interesting how the only thing that stays the same in life is change!

Thanks LouBelles – I’ve mentioned before that I startled myself into reality on April 28th when I chanced on the Tracker on this website and weighed myself for the first time in months and found I was at a BMI of 36.4. It was a shock but even more of a shocker has been how 5:2 has worked to bring me down to 24.8 since then!

SongBird – glad it was just the car that was hurt and not you (probably the deer didn’t fare too well either)

Coda – your quote “seek out a friend or a forum. … but keep going” certainly applies to the support we give each so we can “say stuff out loud to people you know are sharing your struggle”!

    ====================================

With Coda’s quote in mind I think it’s pretty well established that we’re seeking out our friend’s in our daily check-ins, hooray, everyone. Action – thanks for telling me you will be away on a several day 5:2 special assignment, duly noted! K-lo – glad you are no longer MIA!

I may mention that I’ve started a 2nd-half-of-challenge spread sheet and see some blanks starting out already for Baygirl, EnglishLady, Grammaspice, GreatLakes, hamsandwich, Jessiboo, JudyToronto, kicki, latchia, Miesque, moth54, S1u2e3, Swizzle300, Twinmom2016 and YvonbeB. Just want you to know I’m thinking about you and hope your 5:2 journey is going well!

    Day 17– Colorado, USA– NFD

    Have read every single post.

Truly appreciate the wide spectrum of experiences here: Some are knocking it out of the ball park, others are struggling. Believe me, I have been at both the far ends of that spectrum myself.

But there’s never a shortage of support & inspiration on this forum. Gives me the extra-oomph to finish this week out stronger (hasn’t been my best effort to date.) Next week I will tally up every calorie eaten on my Lose It app.

Thank you, Team, for posting & keeping the fires going here!

    Day 17 – London, UK – NFD

Yesterday’s FD was quite easy. Maybe I didn’t feel so hungry during the day because I couldn’t cycle into work yesterday.

Also I’ve discovered my new, low-calorie hunger buster – egg white in a carton.

    London | Day 17 | second (looooong) post | 36h liquid fast

Coda, sarah57, Lany36 – how are you guys doing? We’re on the home straight. Stay strong!

    My FD OK so far.
Bone broth helped me through lunch – specially when my boss started tucking into her burger and chips(!!!) sitting right next to me – to be fair, she doesn’t know I fast. It smelt heavenly for some reason and I don’t even particularly like burger and chips!

Went bra shopping after work – I’ve gone down 2 cup sizes (J to H) in the last year! Woohoo! Not that I hate my boobs or anything – glad to see another positive sign of successful weight loss.

@ciren2 and annemarilyn – thanks for the bone broth info. I rather enjoyed Coombe farm organic beef bone broth – it was light and wasn’t too strong tasting for me. Β
And well done Ciren for maintaining goal weight, while being so busy with Royal Mail duties (respect to you and all the posties during this time of the year)!

@lilymartin – lol, its amazing isn’t how the group energy really influence us? πŸ™‚ Β

@b2tf – well done on crossing over to the healthy BMI range! All the hard work paying off. You’ve set great example as the group co-ordinator too πŸ™‚

@ Yola – a 30-day fast?! Wow, not on my list yet – thats hard core! As Coda says best to get a doctor’s advise?

@patti67 – Lol – yes I also use this forum as a carb-addict’s counselling session. I can totally relate to your struggle – specially for me – cake, biscuits and rice (oh and ferrero roches are a killer!!!).
The good thing I find with this WOL is that I don’t have to give any of it up completely. I’m much more conscientious about what, how much and when I eat what I like.

@ wellrounded – Obesity code is pretty shocking isn’t it?! I realised how much mis-information is out there about continuous grazing. These myths are so ingrained, I find it impossible to even talk about skipping breakfast with anyone!

Right, thats a good bit of catching up (of the thread) done πŸ™‚
    Good night all

    Perth, Australia, Day 18, FD

Well, I’m back. Exams are over. Such a relief to put them behind me. For this year at least.

Although I haven’t fasted over the last 12 or so days, I’m very happy to report that I did eat very well. A lot of whole foods instead of the junk I’d normally choose when I’m stressed. I don’t know if I’ve lost any weight as I don’t currently have access to my scales.

Happy to be getting back into it.

Haven’t had time to catch up on everyone’s news yet but hope everyone is doing well.

Day 17, USA, Missouri Ozarks, Non Fasting

    Weekly weigh in 143.

Today I went to a committee meeting with my volunteer group – the community center we were meeting at was serving a Thanksgiving dinner and nobody wanted to eat that as most of us will be having one (or more in my case) Thanksgiving dinners next week. So, we dashed to McDonalds. I had an order of fries and a vanilla cone (and a diet Dr. Pepper to balance things out) haha… Ate no breakfast.

A few hours later at home I had the most yummy onion bakery roll – so soft and good with a couple small slices of aged cheddar.

Will eat a salad for dinner.

Going out with friends again tomorrow – the Wendy’s crowd so a chili and Frostee are in my future.

Lots of water, lots of exercise, things are going well. Wore a pair of skinny jeans tucked into tall brown leather boots today and everybody said I looked great (but then they are my best friends!) Wishing you all well.

    Day 17 | Derbyshire | UK | FD
Go Baygirl! How cool to get the exams out of the way! You’ve now got a clean run up to Christmas to enjoy and loose a few pounds. Good luck with rest of this challenge πŸ˜€

Before I go to sleep post – fellow fasters I stopped at 24 hours bit unprepared as no bone broth ready, thought my 2nd choice of poached eggs and low g i bread would be below my 1/4 tdee but i didn’t stop eating when I should have and intake was probably over 500. Will do another 24 hours from tonight until tomorrow evening – such is life! Lesson learnt, preparation is key!

Coda, once upon a time I guess you may have not believed you could get by on so little as a bit in excess of 500. So yay for you!! Tomorrow is another day x

Had a good FD today. Lots of energy and on the go till suppertime. Dinner was 450 calories.
I’ll have to be on the ball tomorrow. I have a breakfast meeting and then lunch with friends at noon. I will keep in mind the inspiration I get from the November challenge forum. I love the camaraderie and encouragement. We all have our ups and downs but there is always something positive in the postings.

Still Day 17: Pacific NW USA, still a NFD.

Going well today. I did get hungry about 2:00 this afternoon after last evening’s non-stop noshing and ate about 300 cal. I don’t have the need-to-eats going on (yet?) and will eat a meat patty with veg for dinner and have some of the leftover homemade yogurt cheese with blueberries for dessert.

Then . . . Coda, any others fasting Friday? I plan to liquid fast from 8:00 PM Thrursday night till 8:00 AM Saturday morning!

Pissupussa – thanks back at you for all your interesting and inspiring words!

    Yah, Baygirl is back!!

    Day 17 E. Canada NFD

also Day 16 NFD, sorry back2tf, I missed again.

Day 16 – First, thanks to Coda for that great post. What did I do right yesterday: I cycled to the pool and did laps, and I bought a bagel (don’t keep bread anymore) and had a 1/2 avocado and tomato on 3/4 of a bagel. So that’s breakfast 200, bagel 250, avocado 120, tomato 30, st 600. Then I didn’t feel that hungry and my plan was to skip supper but I did have some salad 50, and some tortellini with spouse 160, and then some raspberrieds with a squirt or two of whipped cream 80, for about 900. Other for 100, total for day 1000.

Day 17 – Breakfast 200, then an apple of 80, st. 280, then a 22 km bike ride (just one more!) and then I went for a caffe latte 150 st 430. Problem, I was hungry and I hadn’t packed any nutritious snacks. So I fell of the wagon with a large cookie 320, st 750. Home to chicken 200 (small portion) and baked potato 80, salad 50, 1/2 banana and cream 80, st 1160. Also pb of at least 40, so 1200.

My weight has been varying from 125.5 to 128.5, mean 127 – and I haven’t dropped in 3 or 4 weeks. But remembering Coda’s post, I am glad I haven’t gained. I have but 2 weeks left in November, I’d like to get to max 126.5. Will try for a fast day tomorrow, I need one.

    Nov 17 – FD – NC

First FD of 2 went well I think! Didn’t have anything all day besides water and coffee until around 7. My meal consisted of vegetable soup, brussel sprouts, and a slice of bread. Assuming under 500 calories. I’m going to go for another tomorrow!

    Day 18 New Zealand NFD

    Day 18 – Cumbria UK – FD

After a very successful back to back 2 FDs – one fluid only and one 500cal on Tues and Wed – I had lost another 1.1kg since my last weigh day on 12/11 – yesterday’s NFD started off really well then I fell into my old grazing habits yesterday evening so well over my TDEE……..and I was not really feeling hungry either!
Woke up early this morning and could not get back to sleep (too much food and alcohol late last night perhaps!) so decided to watch the cricket Eng v India – they have now stopped for lunch!

I have decided to leave yesterday’s negativity behind me and move forward – planning on doing a liquid only FD today.

It’s going to be a cold day here in Cumbria – going out walking with my usual Friday group this morning so should invigorate me and hopefully put me in a positive frame of mind for the rest of the day.
Planning on plenty of fluids today (tea with a dash of skimmed milk, hot water with lemon, fruit teas……etc and maybe a low calorie soup (less than 100cal for dinner this evening) and will see if the scales tomorrow keep my weight loss for this week stable.

Not sure why I fell back into my old habits last evening – will reflect on that today……

Good luck to all on this forum as we near the end of this 3rd week into challenge – stay positive!

    Day 18 Non FD
sorry for not posting more regularly, I keep forgetting, luckily I’m managing to remember to diet and I’ve just weighed myself and I’m 7 LB down πŸ˜€ can’t believe it I’m actually finding this quite doable, I wouldn’t say easy, for my fast yesterday I stopped eating at lunch on Wednesday which meant I missed tea, breakfast, dinner and then had a meal last night, for some reason I found this easier than waking up and not eating all day, hope everyone else is doing as well πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ good luck for the weekend

    Day 17 UK NFD

Weigh in today Ilb down. Total of 6lbs down from the start of the challenge. Much better than I did in October when I it was 3lbs in the whole month.

Good luck to everyone fasting or not today. Positive strong thoughts across the whole of this challenge.

Day 18 | Derbyshire UK | NFD weigh in no change.

    2nd post

Sorry I meant Day 18 UK NFD! A befuddled morning!

    Day 18 | Derbyshire UK | NFD
Way to go Sarah57! You’re still averaging 9lbs over about 6 or 7 weeks so that’s a remarkable achievement. I didn’t see any change this week, but I’m smaller by 1inch round the hips so not disheartened. Still 12 days left of this challenge which for me is one more weigh in. This WOL is very straight forward really. A slow downward trend for just being mindful, rather than hugely restrictive, of what you eat. Enjoy the weekend.

    Day 18 – Switzerland – NFD
Simply couldn’t face the idea of a FD this morning. On my third cup of coffee since 6am, but have made a good start on the chores and got the kids to school. Next task, clean kitchen, spring-clean fridge then tackle bedding and get a second wash on. OH is away a lot at the moment, and I guess I’m starting to understand how much I use food to control my feelings. I need to remind myself how nice it feels when my jeans are looser and my vast tummy starts to feel squidgy because my fat stores are diminishing. On with the day, and good luck to everyone!

Day 18, NFD, New Zealand. A couple of glasses of wine with a light dinner out tonight. Enjoyed it immensely and feeling good that I didn’t overdo the food intake. Tracking very nicely downwards on the scales as I pay close attention to my calories. Didn’t even think about ordering a dessert!

    Day 18, Gozo, Malta, NFD

I had a cheese and tomato muffin which I made for breakfast this morning. I will have salmon with konjac rice for lunch and will take something light when I go out with my sister in law this evening. I hope to stay within my TDEE.

It’s a rainy gloomy day here today.

Have a great Friday everyone. It’s the weekend again.

    Day 18 West Australia NFD
Yesterday’s NFD became a FD by default. 1 piece of fruit plus 2 ( measured) tbspns natural Greek yoghurt for breakfast. Non-stop day at work so no lunch and didn’t miss it. Went to a show last night and no time for dinner beforehand. Looking forward to going to dinner with OH after the show. Only place open to eat after 10 pm – ?? McDonalds! OH ordered a grilled chicken burger. I was going to order one for myself and then saw it was over 2100KJs ( 514 calories).
I was NOT prepared to eat that many calories just before bed, especially as it would just sit in my stomach. So I had 1 small bite of salad and chicken ( and so glad I resisted a whole one myself). I have decided that I may as well eat good quality food in smaller amounts than large amounts of junk food which does nothing but add to the fat stores. I have sometimes eaten food and realised that I haven’t enjoyed it at all but just eaten it for some random reason .. boredom, because it was there, being mindless.
I am also being very mindful of calories in as I am starting the Christmas cooking – cake, pudding, condiments etc and I can’t avoid being in the kitchen, around food or around occasions where there is a lot of yummy food. This next 37 days will really test my ‘ won’t power’.
OH asked last night re a glass of wine – Would you like a glass? Response – Yes I would love a glass BUT will I have a glass? No I will not!!
Love reading all the posts. Practice makes perfect – thinking of you all. Have a great day.

Day 18 Surrey UK FD At last….looking forward to this day, I ate 6 Quality street chocolates yesterday…..feel like Dobbie from Harry Potter…I will iron my hands! The last time I had chocolates was about 9 months ago..mind you it helps that I don’t really like chocolates.

So, looking ahead and not back. What a great group of people on this forum! We have a momentum going now, and I am sure we can carry on in December, and look after ourselves, though we do need someone who can just log us every day. If I was more computer literate maybe, but I am not…I don’t know how to get a spreadsheet on my computer…I don’t have microsoft word, my daughter says. It would have to be done by hand if I did it! Have a good day/night everyone. Last Friday’s fast was successful, I am going to make sure this one is too.

Day 18 Dublin FD. Hello all, sorry my last post didn’t seem to make it on the site! Was thanking coda for the inspirational blog piece — and congratulating b2tfuture for an amazing achievement of reaching healthy BMI. Brilliant news!!

Today is an FD so have brought healthy low cal Bircher muesli in to have small portions of through the day and then a work out in the gym. Not weighing myself as I prefer to see the changes in energy, mood and looser clothing. So far all three have improved! Thank you everyone for keeping me focussed and motivated!
