  • Day 12 uk nfd

Oh coda I wish I’d read your post before feeling an absolute f….. ! I am struggling. So annoying with just a 3.5 kg to go to get to goal, not much when Ive come so far.
Today we travel to Taunton for our granddaughters 3rd birthday. I’ll have a good chat with my daughter who is also on 5.2 and get back on track with Monday fast.

    Well done to you all.

    Day 12 UK NFD

So I’m part of the 13 36 hour challengers and I must say I wouldn’t have made it if it hadn’t been for the group. Knowing I was part of a team and also getting other support from the 30 DAY November challenge team. I would have given up last night. But I had my plan of bath, pamper i.e. Nails and face pack, i.e. Hands occupied. Read through 30 DAY challenge posts. Then film and bed.

I have one and a half hours to go. So feeling pretty good. Woke up feeling proud rather than guilty that I would have let the team down!

Whether you have finished the 36, or not well done all xxxx and whole forum you have helped me a lot. 😍

    Day12 – Staffordshire UK – NFD

    Day 12 England NFD
Another successful FD yesterday but I woke up this morning with, frankly, cheese on the brain. I’m going to indulge a little bit – get it out of my system. Just a bit of cheese, not vast quantities, no bread.
My IBS flared up 2 days ago after I’d posted how well I was doing. Felt very disappointed then picked myself up. I started this with the hope of having maybe a couple of days relief from the symptoms, not with any cure in mind. The fact that I went 10 days between episodes is amazing and hopefully there’s plenty more to come.
I have changed my diet quite a bit since starting this 3 weeks ago – far fewer carbs with the exception of porridge for breakfast on NFDs, which I didn’t have before. So I plan to continue in the same manner
Except for today. Today is quite simply…. Cheese Day.

    2nd post

    Enjoy cheese day Miesque.

    Day 12 London UK NFD

    Day 12 – Switzerland – NFD

Throwing in a NFD as family needs a lot of looking after today and I tend to get a little grumpy on FDs at the moment. Looking back, it seems that I’ve been ADF without realising it – this NFD takes me back to 4:3, which is what I was going for.

It’s not been difficult and I’ve only had a couple of days when I’ve been over by more than 100kcals. So I’m going to keep it together this weekend and hope for another loss on Monday.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Day 12: Gloucestershire UK: Non-fast day.
Good morning fellow 36-hourers! Did you do it? I really enjoyed my breakfast just now! I was good to be in the team.

    Day 12 Portugal NFD
    Weight 65kg

So pleased I managed the 36 hour fast. I will be having some breakfast later this morning. Would never have completed it without the group and forum. Thanks to all. It is the best FD I have done to date! And the scales show a 0.9 kg dip since mid week (yay!) but I expect some of that will return after normal eating over the w/e.

    Have a great Saturday!

    Day 12, NFD, New Zealand.

Hi uk day 12 nfd got passed the chequered flag yeah 🏁
Now where is that shortbread lol
I am now back to where I was when I lost the plot after my holiday. So I am hoping that the end of this month will see a new low and closer to my next interim goal.
@rocy65 we will have another Friday fast day party and do what Ciren does and keep everyone in your pocket and carry us around with you. That was just a practice for the real thing lol, next week same place perhaps? I’ll check my diary.

    Day 12, Australia NFD
Staying under my tdee but trying to make better choices tomorrow.

    London | day 12 | NFD post 36h fast

Made it! It wasn’t as hard as last time. Slept well (listening to best of Leonard Cohen – so sad he’s gone). 0.7kg down this morning.

I was pretty hungry when I woke up – enjoyed a breakfast of egg, bacon, spicy black bean stew and a raggi-flour roti.
Couldn’t have done it if it want wasn’t for the group strength. Thank you all 🙂
Some guys are here laying a new oak wood floor in my living room. Can’t wait for it to be done so we can enjoy it.

    Day 12 – London, UK – NFD

Well done to the Fasting Team, judging by the posts so far it seems to have been a very worthwhile approach to FD, great idea!

Horrible rainy day here in London (what’s new? I’m sure you think..LOL!) so going to keep myself busy with my ‘jobs to get round to on a rainy day list’, quite looking forward to it actually. The 5:2 has given me more energy and mental positivity, I must say, another benefit of this WOL I’m enjoying!

Out for an Indian meal tonight, with friends, so planning on the minimum calorie intake until then. Looking forward to it and will spoil myself with a couple of glasses of wine too! Tomorrow will go easy to make up for it, so hopefully won’t undo any of the good this week.

    Have a great day everyone!!

Memo to ones self don’t break a fast with chocolate buns and shortbread! I should really have had egg on toast or something first but I couldn’t wait lol. I’ll know next time x

    Day 12 Brisbane Qld NFD
Did a nice 8 km walk this morning & think I stuck to my calories. I really need to count calories on NFD!

    Day 12 : UK : NFD

    2nd post D12
Congratulations to all the 36ers on a successful fast. I’m running a bit behind and will finish tomorrow morning – in bed now so it’s the home straight! Already thinking of scrambled eggs on toast for breaky! I was interested to note that I really didn’t feel much hunger today and suspect my body has somewhat adapted.
Whether you’re FD or NFD enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

    Day 12 Italy – NFD
Think I just made it within 500 cals. I’m so proud of myself. I would normally have turned to chocolate and lots of it after feeling so angry and upset. But I waited and went for a coffee with a friend this morning and had a huge white chocolate croissant and a cappuccino to make myself feel better, then a walk by the lake to clear my head and talk it all through with her. It is a beautiful, crisp sunny day and I feel loads better. I’m going to try and get out in the garden for a bit this afternoon and not dwell on things too much. I do tend to overthink things. I’m up for another one next Friday!

Day 12 Surrey UK nfd….thanks to the group! So excited, l actually made it, yay!! Found a connection so I could just confirm with everyone…nothing but liquids from Thursday night till this morning. Just proves the strength in the support which allows fasting like that 😁

    Day 12 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Well done to all the 36ers – reading your posts prior to the start of your 36hr Fast inspired/stimulated me to do something as well.

I had a FD (500cal day) on Thursday (last meal on Wed night at 1930hrs) – I woke up on the Friday and felt strong and positive so decided to do a back to back FD – struggled a bit in the afternoon (see previous post) but persevered and used distraction therapy and managed to see the 2nd FD out with an early bedtime!

I had brunch booked out this morning to break my fast but when it came to it I did not really feel hungry – but met up with the girls around 1100hrs and I had an Oat Latte with a small slice of lemon and poppyseed cake and felt full. Enjoyed the company and had a few laughs and now looking forward to an afternoon of Rugby.
Amazing how we cope with FDs so much better and struggle on NFD – actually felt if I did not have a brunch date with the girls I could have fasted until probably tonight. Anyway will hopefully keep to my TDEE for the day and tomorrow

Weight Loss was much less than expected – down 0.5kg but I did lose 1.5kg last week – feeling positive

@ciren2 and coda – thank your for the support and clarifications
@back2thefuture – thank you for the clarifications about the different type of fasting – so yes I did end up doing a 60hr+ as you described. (500cal FD)
@pissupoosa – I read Dr Fung’s article – very useful as you say – I think I will get his book
@Action Hero – I do love your quotes – keeps me inspired – glad to hear about another Rugby Fan – personally prefer Rugby Union but enjoy Rugby League as well – watching Scotland v NZ RL yesterday evening kept me on the straight and narrow on my back to back FDs!!!!! – An afternoon of Rugby Union awaits me today……….
@merryme – I have discovered that my normal FD are 36 hrs not 24 hrs as I thought
@lilymartin – thank you for the encouragement
@miesque – don’t lose heart re your IBS – the 5:2 diet certainly seems to be helping in reducing your symptoms – stick to it

Congratulations to all those who achieved what they set out to do this week and for those who did not – don’t despair and leave it behind and start fresh with your next FD

Hope we all enjoy the weekend and prepare for next week with a strong mind and heart

US SC Day 12 NFD. Well, although I didn’t sign up for it I did do a 36 hour liquid only fast and finished it! It’s my first liquid only and I wasn’t sure I could make it but I did and, like you Coda, it got me back to my pre vacation weight so I’m hopeful for a loss for the month. I was afraid to try a liquid only… kind of like before I started 5:2 I was afraid of not eating. But like the 500 cal days, it really wasn’t as difficult as my mind imagined it would be. Looking forward now to a nice breakfast. Have a good day all.

    Day 12/ NFD /NC, USA

Today will be simple. I’ll keep under about 1600 cals. I don’t have much to do today besides packing and little things I put on a to-do list to keep me busy. I’ll be heading to the gym also for some leg day activities and cardio. Not sure about food today, but I’ll stick to my word! I don’t really have any temptations lying around anyway. My next FD is tomorrow!

@hollylj proud of you for getting through it even though you’re going through a hard time! If you’re anything like me, emotional days have me searching for a food fix. I watched this happen to me the other day on an FD. Its amazing what you learn when you sit back and watch your body react instead of giving into a quick, passing craving. It sounds like you had a great, perspective-filled day! I’m glad you have someone to help you through 🙂

Good luck over the weekend everyone with FD and NFD. So happy for everyone!

    Day 12 – Georgia, US – NFD

    Day 12…. Florida….. NFD

Quick post as I have a busy day ahead of me.
FD…. end on an sour note. We had friends pop in about 9pm, with pizza and desert. So, a slice and a sm. piece of cake later….. it was over!
Today, is a new day….. catch up on the dreaded laundry. I normally do 2 loads each day but found myself a bit lazy mid week and now I’ve got so much to wash.
Then, I plan on seeing x co worker, she quit about two weeks ago, it will be nice seeing her again.
Then off to the store, chili on the menu, I’m up to bat in the kitchen and it looks like it will be that way tomorrow too. So, shopping for both days!
In the end, I hope I can get a small amount of time, for a quick nap!
Busy, busy, hopefully, I can get everything done, so tomorrow will be a true day off with nothing but time on my hands!
    Have a great day!

    Day 12 USA (Illinois)

NFD Will do my best to keep under TDEE as that has been hard to do lately. I find the FD’s are easier to manage than a good NFD. Hmm, I don’t think I am alone on that struggle.

Congratulations to all the 36 hour Friday Fasters! This board with the various challenges starting with Coda’s in May and on to all the others since then were very powerful in helping me lose what I did. Many of us have been here since May. YEAH! Thanks to all who support each other and especially those who administer!

    Onward and downward!

Day 12 Florida USA NFD busy… went to the memorial service for a friend who passed away this week. She just suffered terribly from cancer but was the loveliest person you would ever want to meet and you would never know she had been sick she always had a smile and a positive attitude toward everyone and everything. Then my next door neighbor passed away in her sleep overnight so we woke up to police cars and fire truck and ambulance early this morning. It really does give you pause to think we have got to enjoy respect and do as much as we can every day you just never know. Sorry to start this Saturday out
on such a sad note but it has been a rough 24 hours .
Company coming for the weekend and I am definitely
looking forward to my Monday Tuesday back-to-back fast- feel the need to decompress. Have a good day
everyone – I am off to a yoga class to get centrred

    Day 12– Colorado, USA– NFD

We did it, gang! I’m creeping past 37 hours of fasting now!

Getting ready to go out to breakfast we DH. We enjoy that every Saturday morning to catch up on the past week & plan our weekend ahead.

I didn’t make it for the full 2-day b2b I’d hoped for (that’s still new, uncharted territory for me!) But succeeded to complete 37+ hours with the group. Such wonderful support here!

DebbieQ: You did it too! This 36-liquid fasting is catching on. It’s more being in the right frame of mind than anything else….nothing dreadful happens body-wise. I find the hardest time is between getting home from work mid-afternoon til’ going to bed.
I’ve been on holiday all this week so I’m rather pleased I still succeeded with two good fast days….even with the kitchen being right HERE!
Well done everybody for a good week.
Coda: Yes, let’s do next Friday again….it seemed to work well.

Oh my gosh, itsmyturn, you have had a rough 24 hours there. Internet ((Hugs)) going out to you!

    Day 12|NFD|Toronto
@itsmyturn: my most sincere wishes for better days ahead.
My TDEE yesterday was blown to bits by a lack of will power when eating a lunch out, guess I will chalk it up to experiential “learning”. My overall trajectory remains positive direction and that is the main thing to focus on.

    Day 12, US, NFD

    Georgia/USA/DAy12/NFD:

So happy its the weekend! I had an awfully long week. Whew! I stuck to my fast days. Congrats to all of you 36hr Liquid Fasters! Whoo Hoo! I’m looking forward to the holidays. This year I’ll be a bit lighter and more knowledgeable about what I consume. I’m hoping to move my normal Thursday fast day to Wednesday the week of our Thanksgiving. Going to be an interesting week I bet.

    Day 12, Gozo, Malta, NFD

Just checking in. I’m staying within my TDEE. I weighted myself this morning and my weight is a bit down from last Saturday, so still at target weight or a little below it.

    Good evening/night everyone.

Day 12 SW WA USA NFD
Enjoying this long Veterans’ Day weekend.
Loving the smell of my first bone broth simmering in the crockpot. It’ll be nice to have that on hand for FDs.

May all be encouraged to do well the rest of the weekend!

Day 12: Pacific NW USA, half and half day, ending 36 hour liquid only fast with a brunch early this afternoon. I will have 2 meals today so this day rolls into a 16:8 NFD.

Our Friday FD group shows how having a support group is so significant ! We’ve accomplished more just by being together. Even those of you who were watching will be stronger on your next FD. Well done all!

Sarah57 – I think Action was the one who said it, you didn’t misplace (lose) those 2 lb, you purposely burned them up, tossed them away and said good-bye to them!

Rocky – you are so close to your goal, look how far you’ve come! You are a success! I thought so but went back and re-read your profile to remind myself that your bull’s eye goal to achieve by Christmas will certainly be close if not right on the mark. If I was a betting person I would bet on you!

Erica – as long as your weight shows an overall downward trend from FD to FD that’s what we’re aiming for. There are so many variables that should show up on the scales when we weigh ourselves on NFD’s, like food in transit, that have no bearing on our fat ratio, so take heart and enjoy your success!

AT – so happy for your b2b achievement! I find that my weight reductions sometimes show up on the scale 2-3 days later. Let me know if hat happens with you. You’ve had a great year if I remember your first post on this forum!

Itsmyturn – you are so right. It’s good to remind ourselves to hit the pause button every now and then and appreciate all that we love.

DebbieQ – it’s good to shake things up a bit in 5:2 just like everything else, congrats on your liquid only achievement!

Coda and DebbieQ – I’m applauding your numbers 👏! I think I remember correctly that Coda’s first challenge was to precede/prepare for an up cominging event and maybe yours too Debbie?? The reason I mention it is you both said you had regained your pre-holiday weight reductions, hooray, but with some chagrin at having to make up lost time. Anyway the thought occurred that you aimed for a target (holiday or whatever), you reduced/got healthier and then maybe bounced back a little after the event but isn’t that OK? You had already reduced by so much that you still ended up post-holiday as a success. Life is not one straight line, it’s an adventure full of variety. As long as your bungee-jump still has you tethered to a life-line (5:2) you can bounce right back! I’m probably saying this more as self-talk for myself looking ahead to my very own conceivable ability to beat myself up over something that isn’t broken but I think as if it is and in the past that has equated to giving in to despair. We already have proven and know 5:2/4:3/6:1 works. Let’s remember to enjoy our good fortune and know ups and downs are part of the picture!!!!

We are almost to the half way mark this month and making our way with healthy daily habits – thank you all for being a part of our challenge to support each other. My spread sheet shows your diligence!

    Day 12/NFD/Georgia

    Day 12 – Australia – NFD
A little disappointed by the lack of anything happening, but I said I’d try it for a month at least

    Swizzle–
even when I don’t see movement in the weight reduction area, I still come back to intermittent fasting for all its myriad of health benefits!

Just some of the many benefits that you can easily read up on:

-improved insulin sensitivity, lowers risk of Type 2 Diabetes
-raised resting metabolic rate, sped up metabolism
    -lowered blood pressure
    -lower cholesterol
-improvement in hormones that regulate true hunger cues
-improved brain function, increased levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor
-slowed aging to brain, possibly delaying or curtailing onset of dementia or Alzheimers
    -improved immune system
-increased cell autophagy (a cellular waste-removal process)
    -starving off cancer cells
    -reduced acne
    -resting the digestive tract
    -reduction of inflammation in body
-may also slow aging, extending lifespan

If I get shaky with my resolve on a Fast Day…
I remind myself it’s not all about what size jeans I can squeeze into. It’s SO MUCH MORE!!! I review this list of benefits which steels my resolve & gives me the motivation to keep going!

I hope this helps someone out there who may be doubting or struggling too!!
Be strong. We’re in this together! 🙂

Australia Days 12 and 13 both NFDs. Apologies for not posting yesterday. Was run off my feet! It was also my weigh in day and I PUT ON 600gms so now weigh 89.9kgs! That was one of the the best food weeks recently so really disappointed but will stick with this.

    Day 12 USA Hawaii NFD

    Day 12|NFD|BUCKS UK

Road trip to London… couldn’t resist the Caribbean bakery, i skipped breakfast and lunch just for it 😊

UK day 12 NFD will catch up on posts tomorrow

    2nd post Day 12 – Cumbria UK – NFD

A successful NFD today following my first back to back FDs – surprisingly did not feel vey hungry today and stayed well below my TDEE

I seemed to have coped well with the back to back FDs on 500cal – so next week I am thinking about trying a low calorie liquid only 36hr fast and see how I get on…….maybe in the second half of the week??

@back2thefuture – thank you – I’ll let you know what my weight does after my first FD next week
@happymargo -thank you for reminding us of all the health benefits of the 5:2 lifestyle – it is the reason that I continue on this diet after losing the weight. I’m in it for the long term!

Well done to all who lost weight this week and/or achieved their goals

Next week is a new week for us all to start over again – stay strong

    Day 12 – USA – Missouri Ozarks – Non-Fasting

Everything is going great, don’t really have the “desire” to eat a bunch of stuff – it is almost 3:30 in the afternoon and I have eaten a Greek yogurt with cinnamon and flax seed and a cranberry walnut protein bar. Will eat a salad with added protein after church. Getting ready to hit the exercise room.

    Have a great day all.

Be careful with protein bars!! Read the label on the packet. What is the percentage sugar content? More than 5-8% Id be choosing something else that was more natural to eat rather then something as processed as a “health” bar. Why not try raw almonds or walnuts. All the protein and fat you need with very little sugar content.

    D13, Melbourne, Australia, NFD

Happy Sunday all! Just finished my 36hr fast and not super hungry but still looking forward to my breaky. Weight is down 1.9kg since starting the November challenge. No doubt the support here has to be given some of the credit! Thanks everyone. I also think the couple of 36ers I have done have managed to break the plateau. Also no doubt I expect a bit of rebound weight so thought I’d report before breakfast!! I’m out tonight with friends for dinner then seeing the amazing Dionne Warwick in concert. Great way to end the weekend. Enjoy the rest of yours all. X

    Day 12 E. Canada NFD

Oh boy. Today I fell off the wagon, and I went uphill, not downhill.

After 16 weeks, and so close to my goal, I have gained. To 129, maybe 128.5. Okay, some water weight, but after a week and a half of maintaining and then working down carefully to 127, even 126.5, this is not fun.

I blew out partly because I had bought a new product,

    http://www.provigo.ca/en_CA/products/productlisting/pc_black_label_seville_orange_torta_de_aceiteprod1970025.html

which turns out not to be bread at all, but pretty much a cookie by another name.

Today: ‘flatbreads’ got up early and started the first of three for the day. 450, ow. This is my old style of eating.
2/3 of a raisin tea biscuit, 250, st 700. Miso soup, 50, st 750. 1/2 tin of tuna, 100, st. 850. A timbit and a coffee, 930. Some sauteed vegs, 120, rice 50, salmon 200, 1300. Three small slices of bread, 80, 1380, nuts 130, pb 30 brings us to 1540, or just over the TDEE. A bit of a bike ride, some raking of leaves, some washing of windows.

Okay, what went wrong. I need more fruit around – apples. Mainly, I went twice over two days to the cafe for breakfast – not a good idea. And I need to do a fast, pronto. Because I haven’t done a good one in a long time.

But I am discouraged. Even though I know that old habits die hard.

I have to remind myself of why I’m doing this. ARRRRRRRRGGGHHHH.

    Day 12 – Canada – NFD

Out for a 5 mile hike today. Beautiful sunny day. Didn’t quite meet my water quota of 3 L, but am within my calorie limit, I think. Had a lovely small Mac and cheese and salad at noon after the hike. I may try to do a btb fast tomorrow.

    Day 13, Australia NFD
