  • Day 11 NFD ( I think)
NiPE so home all day today and may or may not make it a FD – it all depends on what I cook for my DH and I do so love to cook. Too many tastings all add up!
I don’t like to cut out any food groups entirely but I have found that when I eat fewer carbs I lose weight a bit faster but I don’t overdo the protein either as that can have consequences .

Good luck to the Champion Challengers for their 36 hour effort. I will be sending lots of positive thought waves to you all to keep you strong. Terrific effort.
Congratulations to all who have maintained their FDs and daily posting. Accountability and the support on this site has really helped me and I thank you all for it.
( I realised how much I enjoy this site when I started reading posts yesterday morning, looked at the clock a bit later and saw I was going to be late for work if I didn’t get going immediately!! Definitely will have to post in the am and catch up with the other posts in the evening – but I do so love to hear how everyone else is going.)
Counting calories for a week to see how much I am actually consuming – what an eye opener!
100 mls flat white coffee is 54 calories. I usually have a large, so 300 mls plus = 160 calories. 3 of these on a FD with NO other food = 480 calories and almost the entire allowance used. Also just realised it is 900 mls coffee – where has my brain been???
    Have a good day.

    Day 10….. Florida….. NFD

Getting close to saying good night to Day #10. Not a bad day, I finally ate to my TDEE, only did that because truthful, I’m over having salad at lunch. So, I end up at the fast food shop around the corner from work. A burger and small fry later…. all said and done… I’m fine with it.
Dinner I had a nice piece of veal? So, yummy!
I’m heading to slumber room early, hopefully I sleep as well as I did last night.
    Have a great night!
    Michelle

Extra post – so I fasted through breakfast to complete my 36 hours and had brought homemade ratatouille and an arancini from home for lunch to help me keep to my TDEE and what happens? A “work” neighbour again brings in a roast chicken dinner and a roast lamb dinner! I work in a building that has a food court and I recently did one of the cafe tenants a good turn. He has been bringing me lunch at least once a week ever since! Half a juicy roast chicken, crispy roast potatoes, mixed grilled vegetables and gravy – it is so hard to resist!

    Nov 10 – NFD – NC, USA

Thanks @latchia ! It was definitely the peer pressure that was the hardest. There were still leftovers today but honestly I didn’t even want them for some reason.

Today was good – didn’t snack really. I had cereal and a banana for breakfast, a sandwich and apple for lunch, and my vegetable soup for dinner. I did have some break midday and some pretzels before my soup. Went to the gym and ran 3 miles. I’ll be going back tomorrow to run and do arm workouts! Tomorrow is my next fast day, which I’m looking forward to. We have a trip next week for work, so I will be doing another FD on Sunday! Saturday in between as a NFD so I don’t lose my mind πŸ™‚ Good luck everyone!!

    Day 11 – NFD – Melbourne Aust

Loved reading the positive words from various people ref not using the F word and also not making ‘food’ or ‘eating/not eating’ Good or Bad, thanks Lilymartin. So important to not beat up on ourselves, which is de-motivating.

I was planning at the start to do Mon and Thu FDs, but am finding Mon and Wed FDs much easier, as I stupidly work myself into a kind of ‘dread’ on Wednesdays. Maybe a bit less so, this time around – I think because of the positive vibes from this forum and sense of being in a group of people who are sharing the struggle.

Fattymessi I struggle to sleep on FDs, too. I try to eat hot vegies at night and have a small cup of low cal hot choc at bedtime, plus magnesium (tabs) as C in D does.

Bert1802 – Love the saying ‘pull up my big girl pants’ ! I will tell myself that when I’m feeling sooky, from now on.

Best of luck to all on the Friday Fast!!

    Day 1 FD Florida, USA
Hi! I would like to join the November challenge! I’m new to 5:2. Thanks so much!

    Day 11 New Zealand NFD

Day 11 in NZ I’m hanging in. No idea if I have lost weight, since I discovered moving the scales on the (even) floor could make a two kilo difference πŸ™‚ Not cheap scales either.

I am sticking to intake goals and exercise, getting more exercise in fact 320 minutes this week and a reasonable amount of that vigorous. I delivered some junk mail in a hilly area; I call it paid to exercise, but mostly on my bike, Auckland is great for cycle paths.

As my goal is more about healthy eating and getting fit I’m happy. Not that I do not want or need to lose weight but if I phrase the goal differently I can feel better and see weight loss as a side benefit – just my psychology.

One benefit Dr visit 3 months ago and 6 months ago B/P 130- 135/60 On Wednesday 98/60.

    Thank you simcoeluv!

    Second post today. FD doneπŸ˜„

    Inspirational quote on weightloss

“It is a slow process. Don’t make it slower by quitting”

    Day 10, NYC, FD

I actually really enjoy the fast days. I never actually feel hungry and I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day. Not sure why I can’t stick easily to my TDEE, however. I walked a lot today and did a Pilates class as well. I don’t normally go to the gym on my FD but it wasn’t much tougher than on a nfd so I endeavor to keep on doing that.

I actually feel quite energized on a FD.

    D11, Melbourne, Australia. NFD
B2TF I do similar to what you have described and find its working well. I think my body is getting more used to fasting and so I feel able to keep pushing it a bit more. Yesterday I completed a 48 hr fast and had dinner last night – it’s amazing how delicious food is after a fast! I woke this morning and was thinking about a smoothie for breakfast but I actually focused on my appetite and realised I wasn’t hungry so I decided to skip breakfast and as the day has gone on, I’ve not had lunch either. I’ll have dinner and that will make today a 24 hr fast. I’m feeling fine and in control.

Good luck to everyone doing the Friday 36hr fast – you’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment when your done and your break-fast meal will be all the more delicious!
    Happy weekend all. X

    Hi In:

    LOL. What a wonderful insight!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Day 11 England FD
Sticking with chicken today, hot with vegetables for lunch and cold salad or just snacking.

    Day 11, Australia NFD
Yay, happy to have completed my b2b fast this morning, didn’t end up eating until lunch today. Now to keep my mindful eating going well over the weekend.
Was very happy with my weigh in this morning to have dropped 600gm from the start of this challenge. I tend to lose quite slowly, so this is a great result for me, I’m very happy to be making progress.
Good luck everyone fasting today and also with your weekend eating. Lets all try to make good choices over the weekend, it’s an easy time to wobble in our resolve.

Day 11 | Derbyshire UK | NFD weigh in 1lb shed

    Day 11 Italy – FD
I was tempted to not attempt FD today as I had forgotten that today we celebrate the patron saint of the town where I live, my partner isn’t at work and there is a party in town with lots of food and drinks stalls, market, etc
But, I have thought about it and I’m going to give it a go anyway. I was already mentally committed and I can probably get away without eating anything at the stalls.

    Day 11 – Staffordshire, UK – FD

Yesterday’s NFD was OK, girls night out was postponed, so that helped. Thank you backtothefuture for this challenge, really finding logging in each day helpful. Good luck to all fasting today.

    Day 11 UK

Had a really bad night, something has set off my arthritis and so a lot of back and hip pain. I don’t think this damp weather helps!
I know that keeping to the fast challenge today is something I should do but not sure if I will make it!
I am prepared having mineral water, coffe, bone broth and miso on hand. I’ll give it my very best!
I’m sure I’m not the only one wbo will face challenges today but together we can do this!!
Good luck to all my worldwide fasting buddies!!

    Day 11, London, NFD

Yesterday’s FD went well during the day (1 coffee, 2 cups of miso broth, a handful of blueberries) but then it did not, when I got to the cocktail reception (2 glasses of bubbly and canapes). Though I had a good time, in a glamorous venue, spoke to some interesting people (Non, je ne regrette rien :-))

No more FDs this week for me (my strategy for this firm month is: “baby steps”). But weekends are my downfall, so that’s where I have to concentrate now and be careful not to overshoot TDEE by a mile.

Day 10- Los Angeles – NFD

Just 3 min till midnight so happy I’m checking in. Ate very responsibly today so happy about that. Rewarded myself with a large tablespoon of soy ice cream. Yummy. Next fast is Sunday so will try and eat well (and by that I mean healthy and in good proportion) till then.

    Day 11 UK FD

Well done Lou belles and Diggly!
    Thanks Mumsy!
In it to thin it, I love that quote, just pure and simple just get on with it stuff

Hi all day 11 uk fd

JT7 welcome. The day of the challenge = the day of the month no matter when you actually start. We are all on the same day of challenge. If you would start with the day, your location and if it’s a fd or nfd ie For me today in the uk I start
    Day 11 uk fd
Well done for taking a step in the right direction.

    Day 11, NZ, NFD
Finished a 46hr fast tonight & had small dinner – was tempted to nibble after dinner, even had a little snack Choc bar in my hands, but put it down as I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop at just one!! I am a terrible night eater – trying to break the habit!! Also, weigh in tomorrow so I need to avoid over-eating tonight.

Great to sit down & catch up on posts – feel motivated, recharged & back on track again!!

Take care all – have a good weekend. Xxx

Day 11, NFD, New Zealand. Friday night drinks tipped me over TDEE but life is for living so I feel pleased I indulged after a really conscientious 10 days of 5:2. Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

UK day 11 NFD off for a day out in London today, will aim to make good choices .

    Day 11 – Cumbria UK – FD

Woke up today feeling good and positive after yesterday’s FD

So encouraged by the Fab 12 who are doing their back to back FDs that I have decided to continue today as a FD – last proper meal was on Wed (Day 9) at 1930hrs – did a 500cal FD yesterday (Thurs – Day 10) will continue today as another 500cal FD – planning on breaking the fast day tomorrow (Sat – Day 12) for brunch – if all goes well and I stay focused and positive.

Frosty morning in Cumbria – going to get ready now will be out walking for a couple of hours with a group of friends at 1000hrs – we usually have a coffee/tea afterwards to warm up and have a chat so this will hopefully give me a clear head to stay focused for the rest of the day

Good luck to the Fab 12 who started on Thursday

Day 11 Surrey UK FD So feeling much stronger knowing there is a group of us in this,
I take my hat off to those who can do this with ease. It is slow but sure, and little milestones are reached mentally all the time. There is probably a much bigger change in our way of thinking than in our loss of weight! Most of us on this forum have had some serious Life Lessons….wouldn’t it be great if youngsters could be trained in this way? No obesity epidemic amongst the young…Wishful thinking, I know.
I have no difficulties with not eating in the day, the problem comes around 6 or 6.30ish when most of the day’s work is done and I then want to sit down and relax a little, and this thought is always accompanied by a desire to eat or drink something, almost as a ‘reward’…this needs to be replaced by something else, I just have to find what it can be. It won’t be happening this afternoon, because I will be travelling. Good luck to everyone on this forum!
@B2tf, I will not be able to post tomorrow, but see you all again Sunday afternoon.

    Day 11 NFD NZ
Fasted from 8pm yesterday to 1.15pm today but I don’t count it as an actual FD and I’ve certainly eaten above my TDEE tonight!
Had a MAJOR craving for chocolate…the kind that makes me wonder if I had to choose between my right arm and a bar of caramello chocolate…how would I type my posts anymore with only one hand??
I don’t think I was especially stressed or anything today, I did have a demanding day at work but that’s not uncommon and I actually quite like the high intensity days, considering I only work two days a week it’s not a source of stress for me normally. So all things being equal I think I just really wanted it…and had it…and enjoyed every bite of it. Just know it’s blown my calorie count and I’ll deal with that cos today it was totally worth it
Sorry if my indulgence bothers anyone but it was something I felt I needed to share. Previously I might have felt intense guilt and shame over it but it’s been ages since I did that and I feel fine with my choice.

    Portugal day 11 FD
Determined to make it through today’s FD. Not sure I can manage liquid only, so may have small meal of 500cal this evening.

Cheering on all the Friday fast-ers…we can do it!

    2nd post

@at – we are not doing a back to back fasts just a 36 hr one but you seem to be lol well done.

@erika45 what instead of a 500 cal meal you have a smaller meal or bowl of soup?

NorrieB – even small changes can make a difference, what about after you have finished you have a bath change into cosy jammies, brush your teeth and then relax or even just sitting in a different chair than your usual one, paint your nails, put on a face mask? Just something different to break the usual habit of sit down relax and eat. Think of us all sitting with you when you relax in future lol

    Day 11: Gloucestershire, UK: Fast-day.
Hello to the 12 x 36-hour fasters, how’s things? We will stay strong all together today. I keep a piece of paper with all your names in my pocket to remind myself and keep the motivation going.
Coda,GreatLakes,Pissupoosa,Sarah57,Rocy65,HappyMargo,Me,B2F,Lynz2,Enka45,HollyLJ and NorrieB…I hope I haven’t missed anyone! Strength to ALL fasting today xx

    Day 11 – London,UK – NFD

Weigh-in for me today, feeling very happy, another 1.44 kilos off, making 2.8 in total!! I started on 31st October so that’s 12 days, and I could discount my Birthday weekend a little, although didn’t go mad as was already inspired by my initial loss of 1.36! 5:2 was recommended by a friend of mine and it’s really working for me, so far, as a WOL, I don’t feel at all deprived on it and I love the flexibility of NFDs mixed with the willpower of FDs.

I have stopped drinking wine Mon-Fri, unless I am out and not driving, and feel the benefits of that health-wise!!

Good luck to all the FDers, and have a great day all NFDers!!

PS I also love all the camaraderie of this group, it’s great to hear everyone’s stories and challenges! Great support all round!

Day 11 / Tweed Coast Australia / NFD

in it to win it, yes! That’s what I ended up doing! Once I cooled off I spoke with the person with whom I had the issue and we talked out the whole scenario and it was a great thing to do! It was healing and I got to see the misunderstanding my anger was based on and even more deeply, why I drew wrong conclusions. The whole experience has been extraordinary for me. Many write about physically detoxing at the beginning of 5:2, I feel I’ve been psychologically detoxing since the beginning of my maintenance phase!

I had a wonderful day today all around. Fast day tomorrow!

    Georgia/USA/Day 11/NFD:

I was on a school trip with a bunch of 5th graders for the past 2 days. We hiked and camped. Some call it “Glamping” because our cabins were more like hotel rooms. LOL. So I did my fast on Thursday as scheduled and found many options in the lunchroom at the camp. I had 2 pieces of bacon and a yogurt for breakfast, a small green salad with no dressing for lunch, and my usual grilled brussel sprouts/no meat protein for dinner. All that food and stayed under 600 cal. So I stepped on the scale this morning an I’m down 4lbs. Finally! I had hit a wall for a month. It’s good to finally see some results. I will not rest on my laurels this time! Happy Friday everyone!

    Day 11…… Florida…..FD

First….. Thank you to all the veterans and service men and women near and far!

@biddiev….. It’s a great saying to keep a person motivated when they don’t want to do something. My sister, who has since gone home, a great women and friend, used to say that all the time…. When the going gets tough, pull your big girl pants up and push through!

    @jt7….. welcome!

Woke up to bit of chilly weather…. who says Florida doesn’t get cold? FD today, salad for lunch….. leftover ham for dinner….. pretty easy day food wise. Now if I can get my work day to fall into line. it may end up being a fantastic day! Here to wishful thinking!?! Cheers!

    Have a great day!
    Michelle

    Hi Bert:

I so agree – THANK YOU VETERANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    D11, Melbourne, Australia FD
Hi Friday 36 hr fasters. I’ve decided to join this fast too. I have eaten dinner tonight and intend to fast through until Sun breakfast. Hope I can sign up to the group but will be doing it anyway.
    Good luck all!

    Day 11, Georgia, FD
    Have a blessed Veterans Day!!
Good morning this week has been a serious journey indeed, my husband had surgery and I’ve been living in the hospital with him, I haven’t weighed yet but today is FD for me, finding healthy food started out being challenging until I found 2dollar delivery where I could get salads with no dressing 😊… we have been here 5 days and I believe I’ve done well enough not to have gained any pounds back.. the stress from worrying I thought was going to send me into ordering and eating junk food but thanks to a staff member Nurse Bunnie she helped me out and it kept good food in front of me …

    Day 11 – Switzerland – NFD
Well, amidst the hustle and bustle of a busy Friday, I managed to find a quiet spot to listen to the radio and mark two minutes silence in honour of the fallen of all wars. Good thing it was a quiet corner, as I had a proper old sob afterwards. I think this week has been more stressful than I thought, my elderly dad is ill and my OH is in hospital for a minor op today (that freaks me out more than it does him!), plus the rise of intolerance and the far-right here and abroad.
There’s something about fasting that raises all sorts of accountability and at the moment, it’s my emotions that are on the surface. I would usually try to suppress them by eating something sugary, but happily at the moment, I don’t feel the need. Might make myself a big mug of tea and try to pick through what’s going on.
Good luck to everyone fasting today – you’ve made a Friday FD feel like a party, it’s great! Strength and determination to the non-fasters too

    US SC Day 11 FD

Well, I didn’t do the FD yesterday so am doing it today instead. I don’t know what has come over me. I have begun to have this incredible hankering for queso dip. I never ate the stuff in my life until a few weeks ago and now I find myself totally craving it. Dear Lord! There are a million calories in a container of this stuff. Aargh… I need an intervention!

Hi Ciren 12 people 11 names? Think Holly is missing from your list. Mumsy you can off course be with us and then maybe someone else will join you as we end ours on Saturday sometime and they can continue with you until Sunday?

Cathy – well done for coping under difficult circumstances.

And…exhale what a lovely thought a fast day party! lol

    Day 11 Brisbane, Australia NFD
Had a reasonable day but realise I need to count calories on NFD days so I don’t undo all the good work of the FD. It’s too easy to under estimate.

    Day 11 – Canada – NFD

Going to a breakfast meeting this morning and then on to the cenotaph for the Remembrance Day service. It is a cold blustery day here but nothing compared to what our veterans suffered during the wars.

Today my goal will be to keep below my TDEE, drink 3 L of water, walk 10,000 steps,
I feel as though the plan is working well and I am so tempted to step on the scales but I want to see the week through before I do that. I don’t want to get complacent if I have lost or discouraged if I haven’t. It’s all small steps – but at least in the right direction .

Be strong everyone on the challenge. You are an inspiration.

Day 11|NFD| Toronto, Remembrance Day 2016
Good FD yesterday made better by a great dental surgery follow-up exam that showed all went well and is healing properly.

    Day 11 – Georgia, US – FD

    2nd post
Sorry buddies, had to take anti inflammatory pills so had to eat.

Sending positive vibes to you all fasting today.
