  • Day5 – Staffordshire,UK – NFD

Yesterday’s Fast Day went well. Off to a Bonfire Night party at a friend’s house this evening. Think I’ll drive, then no chance of getting the beer munchies.

Cathyh46 such very sad news, my condolences.

    Day 5 Italy – NFD
Cathyh46 – I would like to add my condolences for your tragic loss to those from the rest of the world.
Miesque – congratulations on the relief of your IBS , that must feel amazing. What a reason to keep to this regime!

We’ll see what today brings. I’m feeling more confident about making better choices and plan to eat a tuna and mozzarella salad for lunch and veal steel for dinner.

Day 5 nfd north Yorkshire UK
Hi all well today is my official weigh in an I’ve lost 1.5 pds, which I’m happy with but on my fd yesterday I didn’t eat all day as I was going out for a meal, an the safest thing on the menu was a prawn cocktail but I succumbed to pudding which I may as well say cancelled out my fd, meaning I’ve only done 5:2 not 4:3 as I intended..
Which I’m not gonna beat myself up about as I’ve learnt don’t go out for meals on a fd.
Have a safe and fun bonfire night everyone.

    D5, Melbourne, Australia, NFD.
Out to lunch today. Gone a bit over 1500 cal but was expected and enjoyed! No dinner tonight and back to FD tomorrow.
    Have a good weekend all.

    Alanix. – happy birthday
Cathy46 – sorry for your loss

    Day 5 – NFD -uk
I seem to doing better on the diet than I am at posting! Yesterday was a non fast day and I was really good at meals, ate only until I was full and didn’t just mindlessly eat. Felt very proud of myself and then my sister came round. With wine. Drank more than I intended but had been to gym in morning so might just be within TDEE – certainly ache this morning! Better be good today to make up for it!

    Happy bonfire night everyone

Day 5, NFD, New Zealand. A good day.

Hi all Nov 5th = day 5 (Mazzie10) don’t think even with time zones you could be that far behind lol

Nfd foe me and official weigh day, no difference on scales since Tues but that’s ok as that is the way I seem to work. I just need to keep the faith and keep doing it. I feel good which helps.

Ciren2 you used the ‘F’ word! wash your mouth out lol

Cathy46 I am so sorry for your loss and am thinking of you all especially your daughter. It has probably hit home in a most cruel way the young are not as invincible as they belief they are. Hard times ahead for all of you x

Day 5 Surrey UK NFD Weighed in this morning at 96.8 kg. The result of being a bit more accountable to myself. Note to self: This does not mean you can slacken in any way.
@cathy46…I was scrolling through to see if you had said anything about, I think your niece, and can’t find it, but going by everyone’s commiserations I have to say my heart goes out to you and the loss of your niece. It is such an awful pain! I lost my 16 year old beautiful son to a horrific car crash and caused by a woman who didn’t look when she came out of a side street. Thirty years later it still pulls at me. So I wish you all the strength in the world to deal with this. A good weekend to all.

    Day 5 NFD NZ
Ate very little all day then had ice cream and chocolate
May still have been under TDEE but definitely not good choices.
Been super busy painting at home all day so some positives to come out of the day.
Haven’t got time to read all the posts yet but I will catch up soon

    Day 5 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Weigh day today – down 1.5kg – a good feeling – hope this helps to keep me positive over the weekend
I had 2 x successful FD and was mindful of what I ate on my NFD and even managed to have 4 days of exercise – working on increasing this to 6 days……

@miesque – so happy that the this way of life appears to be helping with your IBS
    @alanix – Happy Birthday
@debbieq – I also have issues with overeating on my NFD so for this November challenge I have decided to try and practice mindful eating on my NFD – let us encourage each other during this challenge
@In It to thin it – well done you – stay strong and positive this weekend

Hope we all have a good weekend

    Day 5, NZ, NFD
Fairly good food day (until after dinner!! Too many nibbles).
Have spent most of day gardening & mowing. Feels good.

Very late – will have good read of posts tomorrow.
    Take care all. Xxx

    Day 5|NFD| Bucks UK

    Trying to do 16:8 today…

Day 5, Australia, NFD. Did well yesterday as my second fasting day, however, didn’t do too well with my NFD, probably ate over my TDEE again. Ugh, really struggling with this but happy to have gotten through my FD so that’s a positive! Another NFD tmrw, going to try and stick to the 8 hour period again as that went well when I tried it the other day. Good luck everyone x

    Day 5 – NSW Aust – NFD
Again, ate well, right up to the point we went to the movies and I had chocolate coated coffee beans.
On the plus side I feel sick now, and I doubt I’ll eat them for quite some time!
Did 5km Parkrun this morning and enjoyed it for a change… I didn’t come last!

    Day 4&5 : UK : NFD

    Day 5: UK FD

Well yesterday didn’t quite go to plan. I hit my food allowance for the day and let’s say I felt really sick, like I actually wanted to vomit. Not a nice feeling. Glad to be back to a FD today. I feel really bloated this morning so think I’m going to try just water for the whole day. I started reading The complete guide to fasting and let’s just say it’s very eye opening. I think I may have been able too convince my husband to give it a go too. Now that’s a goal in itself πŸ™‚ good luck today everyone… think healthy πŸ™‚

    Day 5, Australia NFD

Really want to work on my nfd’s this week. I’ll work on one week at a time. Had a short eating day today not eating until 3 pm just too busy, but feel like I fit too much in after that. What a waste. Anyway I’m going to do better tomorrow because I deserve to treat myself better.

UK day 5 NFD will catch up on posts tomorrow

    Day 5 USA – NFD

Busy day yesterday, but ate pretty well. Made a good comfort food beef stew for dinner. All is well –

    Onward and downward!

    Day 5 Brisbane Australia- NFD
Did well until the celebration drinks this evening where I probably had one too many but close to my TDEE – so feeling good

    day 4/5 Cornwall UK NFD
Apologies for not posting yesterday. All but really busy.

    Day 5…. Florida…… FD

Cathy46….. My prayers are with you today. My husband favorite Aunt was called home yesterday. I know how hard and sometime unfair, when we lose the ones, we love the most. We live with the constant reminders of their love everyday, but I believe that when we lose them in body form, it is because their job on earth it done and they were called back for a more important job…. one that paves our way to the right hand of the Lord when we are called home. May you find peace in time and be sure to watch for her presence in your life, for her spirit will guide and protect you, until you can be together again.

S1u2e3…… Congrats on your weight reduction….

Today, is a FD for me. I’ve never done one on a Sat. before. So, this should be interesting. But after my fall yesterday, I feel it’s important, to give it a go before I become part of the pavement again.
So, today will consist of a good cleaning of the house. I tidy everyday but nothing feels better when you can get a good greased elbow to very inch of your home. Plus, cleaning helps when I’m feeling a bit anxious. Our baby boy is taking the SATs this morning and my DH left for work this morning very sad and a bit broken. It breaks my heart knowing that I can’t fix the pain and sadness that my DH is feeling right now. Then, my oldest is heading into the city today with friends for a comedy show. My kid doesn’t partake in alcohol, so I pray the friend that is driving doesn’t either.

BUT….. today, I am thankful for waking up, my job, my friends, my family and love I feel in my heart and soul.

Well, it seems my post this morning was very dark and sad, so I will be going. I would hate to bring you all into my cave on this fine day.

    Michelle

    2nd Post

    @bert1802 What is DH please?

    GoldenSun….. Darling Husband

@bert1802 : Aww….thank you. Sending you and your family lots of love. xoxo

    Day 5 Dublin FD

Well done to all of us for hanging in there despite the significant challenges. Cathy and Michelle – very sorry for your loss, I hope you gain plenty of love and support at this painful time.

So good to see all the canadians on here – especially so for me as so far from home. Beautiful sunny autumn day here in Dublin. Went for a 30 min walk before breakfast, really helps increase energy and positive mood. FD today as part of my alternate day fasting plan won’t be fully achievable as being taken out for dinner tonight but will choose healthy options and go to the gym today again to burn 400 cals to compensate! Cheating I know!!! ;))

Day 5 Florida USA NFD good day yesterday great arobics class in the am and washed all my windows in the afternoon. We are on a canal and the oil from the boats really make sparkling window people crazy, but they are clean for now – next week is another story . Sitting here waiting to go off to my yoga class this morning and having a lovely cup of lemon water. Last night we had friends over and dinner became appetizers and drinks so got a little work to do today ! Have a good day everyone.

Day 5/ US Mountain West/ NFD.

Cathy so sorry to hear about the loss of your niece.
These posts help keep me buoyed up and moving in the right direction even if sometimes it is two steps forward and one step back.

    Day 5 – Georgia, US – NFD
Hello all, this lifestyle change is going well. Lost another 1 1/2 lbs. We all have good and bad days even on healthy eating days. So nice to read posts from around the world. I love the food ideas. Today I will be making sweet potato macaroni and cheese with some of my many sweet potatoes. Thanks CanadianinDublin for the recipe suggestion. In a few days I will be making a stir-fry as suggested by Alanix, and then quorn mince suggested by tbezeck. Yum!
    Have a great day!

    Day 5 – USA – Missouri Ozarks – Non-Fasting

Hello All, had a pretty good non-fasting day. Just don’t seem to be hungry for snacks or anything too much anymore. Made my husband rib eye steak, fried potatoes, fried eggs, cinnamon toast, V8 juice for breakfast/brunch – I had cottage cheese, sliced banana, flax seed and cinnamon.

Ate a few baby carrots for lunch, couple of drinks of Diet Dr. Pepper, that was it – slice of pizza after church for dinner. Did lots and lots of housework, laundry, etc. Plenty of energy.

Lots of exercise, lots of water, tea, coffee.

Ready for another day. Thinking about making either a cinnamon crumble coffee cake or homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast, whatever the hubby thinks sounds good. If we eat a late breakfast/brunch, won’t eat lunch, won’t eat dinner until after church. All of this yummy sweet potato talk inspired me. I bought six pounds ( Aldi’s had beautiful, plump (sometimes theirs are long and skinny) sweet potatoes – 3lb bags for 99 cents – I got two bags! One of them sprinkled with flax seed and cinnamon would be a great dinner.

Bert, so sorry for the loss your family has suffered. You are sweet to be so concerned about both your husband and your son.

Day 5 : Perth, Australia FD
It’s tough doing a fast day on the weekend – need work to distract me from the fridge!

    Day 5: Non-fast day:
Sorry B2F and Coda…for negativity and that f-word. So, to re-phrase…yesterday’s planned fast day was a light(ish) non-fast day.
Also, sorry for being short (and sweet)….I haven’t even been able to skim all these entries let alone read them properly and keep up with you all. I’m trying not to fall out of the loop. This time of year gets so busy at work (Royal Mail)….no time….and short-staffed too. It’s all I can do to remember to log in.

    Day 5, London UK, NFD

    DAY 5 – CANADA – NFD

A very successful FD yesterday. The beautiful weather helps. I enjoyed a lovely long walk and then spent an hour raking leaves. On FD days I seem to have an enormous amount of energy. I guess the secret is to keep moving.

Going to a Bonfire Night party this evening so will go easy on my calories until then. I’m looking forward to a glass or two of wine and will try my best to forgo the desserts – always my downfall.

Well done everyone for sticking with it thus far through thick and thin. All your comments are a great source of encouragement.

My condolences to Cathy and Bert.

My pleasure Yvonne!! I hope you enjoy!! I” jealous! On a quasi fast day today but think i'”” follow you and stock up on sweet potatoes for some sweet potato mac n cheese tomorrow!

Bert – very sorry to hear of your loss. Your healthy spirituality will no doubt see you through.

Cathyh46: I’m so sorry about what happened to your husband’s young cousin. God bless and hugs. xx

Day 5: Pacific NW USA, NFD

38 hour fast just ended with food that never tasted so good!

Now, as LouBelles and needachage have mentioned, the real challenge is maintaining my composure on these weekend NFD’s. Many of us find that the real challenge of this WOL are the NFD’s. Why is choosing to not eat at all on a FD easier that choosing to eat under TDEE on a NFD for me? I just say “no” if a craving pops into my brain on a FD but on NFD I more often succumb??

Reading mflood’s post I’m reminded maybe it’s the mental release from primal “hunting and gathering” on a FD that makes it easier and on a NFD it’s re-engaged?? Anyway, eating nothing is easier for me than eating less and that is something I am aware that I can improve.

    Mazzie10 – I auto-corrected your last post as day 4.

Jilrob – hooray, first a little external accountability supported by this daily challenge, turns into a habit, then becomes your internal accountability!

Miesque – continued health to you!

S1u2e3 – like Ciren, I will repeat, I think your intended FD still qualifies as a very low NFD and that’s success in my book!

Ciren – take care of yourself, and along with that giving us a 3 point daily check so we know you are still there is all you need to do.

Lucyf30 – good to hear you found Fung’s new book helpful, I’m off to buy it today. My OH joins me in the meal planning for the LCHF recommendations. Although he doesn’t have weight to reduce he still loves our new WOL.

Jenhealth – you’re doing so great!

Strength and health to everyone this weekend!

    Day 6 – NFD – London, UK

Well yesterday went well, considering it was my birthday!! Back on track, pretty much today, have allowed myself some wine calories to use as going out again this evening. Monday is FD again so hope that will make up for the weekend!

    Day 5 USA NFD
Enjoyed snacks at Bunco last night a little more than I thought. As some have mentioned, I also need to work on the food choices on NFDs. It’s easier at home but…

I see the references to Bonfire events. Is this a special celebration?

    Enjoy the weekend everyone!

    Day 5 – NF
Went for a loooong walk yesterday and it felt great, afterwards however, I felt like I was made of lead. Inflammation rearing it’s ugly head. The great news is, two of the best things for inflammation reduction are fasting and eating grape seeds/skins. We live in Wine Country in Canada so there are plenty of wineries in our neighbourhood. One company has decided to get in on the seed/skin market. We discovered Wine Crush yesterday. I will be adding it to my morning smoothies. Although inflammation has plagued me, on and off for years, I finally feel like I have a plan of attack for it. My husband is on board and we will be fasting together! I’m so excited today!!!

    Day 5 UK NFD
I read through the posts whilst squatting or lunging, (if at home) every little helps I find and with over 100 of us all across the world I can dip in and out all day when I need a little willpower, so have added squats whilst catching up.little and often wins the race I hope.

I also noticed a lot of us struggle on NFDs, for me I think this is because I plan what to eat on FDs but not on NFDs. So going to try this week. Also noticed how most of us feel really good on the FD and can usually carry it on a little longer.

I loved someone’s tip of saying yes to the biscuit that’s offered on a FD but actually saving it till a NFD.. So u can always have it but it’s down to timing.

So today, gym and a lovely treat of a roast dinner that’s it so far, lemon water throughout the day, , I find I am quite thirsty lately, which makes me think did I confuse this with hunger before? Quite probably.

Fireworks night in the UK, ooooh aaaahhhhh.

    Day5, NFD, Saint Marys, Ga…
Today is going well, thanking God for his peace and no cravings thus far.. I hope and pray everyone is having an amazing weekend… Prepping for my husbands surgery next week, We will be in the Va Medical Center for a week for his surgery and this will be a task for me and my fast days, I will try to fast 2 days back to back in order to try to stay somewhat on track with meals since, I will be staying in the hospital with him, I am planning on taking snacks that is non-perishable for the stay, this hospital is such a maze that I will not venture out too much and I will eat dinner off the hospital menu during his stay…

    Day 5 NFD, NYC

    Staying within my tdee.
Have had friends staying visiting from England so we have been very active cycling, visiting museums and going around NYC… now en route to a wedding upstate… which is at a famous chef’a farm to table restaurant so have decided to just let go and enjoy big definitely notice that since started the 5:2 diet I have not desire to over eat and eat smaller portions anyway.

    @alanix Happy Birthday πŸ™‚

Bonfire night/ fireworks night or Guy Fawkes nights is a celebration of of a foiled plot to assassinate the king and blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.

So every 5th of November we light a bonfire and send up fireworks. I think a lot of people have forgotten why this is done now but it’s a nice celebration held in nearly every town in the UK. Some people have a small gathering and have fireworks in their back gardens. It’s always on the 5th but sometimes the big bonfires are held on the nearest weekend.

    Day 5 UK NFD

Norrie from Surrey, I have just read your post. Very, very sorry to read that. Xx

(Very cold!) London | Day 5 | NFD

Did hot yoga in the morning and had a poached egg/bacon/sourdough toast brunch with a friend afterwards. Yoga fixed my mood immediately (despite being all over the place with no balance whatsoever!) and catching up with a friend after a long time helped too.
Might have one of my home-made chicken and veg soups later – or not – not too hungry right now.

Cathyh46 and Bert1802 – I’m sorry for your losses. Thinking of you both.

B2tF – definitely a good idea to get the actual book πŸ™‚ I’ve underlined important stuff and stuck sticky markers in copy – makes it easier to dip into important bits when I need to.

    Alanix – Happy Birthday!

AT – happy anniversary! Best wishes for many more πŸ™‚

Swizzle300 – hello fellow Parkrunner from across the globe πŸ™‚ I haven’t done many – only 11 since May – I’m relatively new to running.

    Day 4 – UK – NFD

    Day 6 NZ NFD
    Another day of painting ahead.
Have my breakfast of soaked oats ready to go from last night, will be liquid only till 12pm then making good choices for the rest of the day until FD tomorrow
