Day 4, New Zealand, FD
Third day day this week, usually I do them when I’m working, so don’t have the distraction on the pantry but am home today, plan to get out in the garden as it is beautiful and sunny this morning. Walked with friends this morning 7.5 km. Congratulations to the Cubs supporters, look out for our All Blacks playing in Chicago this weekend.
Day 5, Australia, FD.
Did much better with my NFD yesterday by sticking to an 8 hour eating period (11-7). Completed my HIT by using the fast app (highly recommend), and weighed myself also. So far I’ve lost 500g which is on target to what I want to lose this month which is 2 kilos. Hoping for more but I think that’s a realistic goal. Hope everyone is going well and good luck to those fasting today.
London | Day 3 | NFD
Weight 65.8 kg (0.7 kg down)
Breakfast: English muffin with egg and bacon; coffee with semi-skimmed milk (450 cals)
Lunch: Bowl of butternut squash and apple soup (home-made) with a sprinkle of blue cheese, pumpkin and sunflower seeds; 2 plain rice cakes (510 cals – possibly less, I over-estimated the quantity on MFP)
Dinner: Polish sausage and vegetable stir-fry with lightly steamed courgetti (349 cals)
Total calorie intake = 1329 (TDEE set for goal weight on MFP: 1624)
Meant to go for a yoga class after work but needed to finish some chores before the weekend, so cancelled.
Day 3 E. Canada FD, fail
bran flakes 1.5 bowls (stressed) 300, banana 80, 1/2 turkey fillet from last night, 100, 2 t cottage cheese 40, st 520. Then 1/2 a mini lasagna 150, peanut butter 50, st 720.
Cycled to pool for a swim, so that’s good.
Caffe latte, 150, and a great cookie 300, so 1170.
1/4 of a turkey breast, 50, the rest of the lasagna 150, st 1370, 1/2 a cold potato with 1/2 T. mayo 90, fruit 50, so 1510. Ate over TDEE, and this was supposedly a fast day.
Weight is 128.5.
I don’t know, I think it is this grey, grey weather that is making it hard to get to the finish line. But have to watch the compulsive snacking under stress.
Day 4 USA (Illinois)
NFD
Yesterday’s FD went very well. One small apple mid afternoon, then sauteed chicken strips, mushrooms and vegetables for supper. Looking forward to a good DAFD. Doesn’t look like the cheese popcorn and wine from the nerves of the Cubs game hurt me at all. Yeah! Does nervous energy burn up calories? I have never thought about that!
Onward and downward!
Day 4 FD England
Good morning. Weight is 80.7 Kg, that’s up a touch from last time π‘. I’ve been drinking Asda sparkling peach water as an alternative to my normal Pepsi Max to have a break from caffeine. Assumed it was similarly calorie free but it’s 88 cals per litre and I’ve been drinking 2L on my fast days!
So far my fast days have comprised salads only cause that allows me to pick on through the day but today I’m branching out with chicken chasseur for a couple of hot meals. I’ll be using 100g chicken breast with mushrooms, onions, tinned tomatoes, garlic and a stock cube. The meat & vegetables will be dry fried with no fat whatsoever and I’ll have tiny portions. I’ve calculated it should be 300-330 cals in the entire dish.
On the IBS front, still no symptoms! This is the longest I’ve gone between episodes throughout 2016!
Simcoeluv – thanks for your support re IBS.π
Perth, Australia, Day 4, FD
Sorry I didn’t check in yesterday. It was an NFD if it is being recorded somewhere.
I’m struggling today with the fast day. I think this is due to the stress of exams commencing on Monday. I want to maintain a liquid fast (tea/coffee/water) but I’m not sure that is feasible. Maybe I’ll allow myself the 500 calorie allowance should I need rather than torture myself. I’m a little surprised, I’ve not struggled the last few weeks with liquid fasts.
Hope everyone does ok today.
Day 4, Australia NFD
Decided not to do 4:3 this week and have made plans with my husband for dinner. But when I weighed in this morning it was higher than expected so feeling like maybe I should have. It’s hard to fast on the weekend. So will probably sick with the 2 fd’s this week and will look at what else I can shape up a bit. Really need to get some good nfd meal ideas prepared as I haven’t been making the best choices.
Day 4 NZ NFD
Carried over my fast from yesterday to 1pm today.
Wasn’t hungry really even then but ate and have now probably gone over TDEE.
I have such a mental block with Friday eating, I can manage the other NFD fine but Friday seems to be a terrible food day for me no matter how well I do with everything else….grrr
Day 4. West Australia ,may or may not be a FD
I posted early this morning but it seems to be wandering around in cyberspace and not on this forum which I have been checking for about 30 minutes. Not sure where my post has gone!
Having visitors today and through the weekend. Lunch out, dinner with guests. Functions associated with food on the weekend so not sure when the FDs will be.
My post was after an American one commenting on the Cubs victory and having listened about horse racing ( Australia) etc.
Congratulations to the Cubs – a well-deserved win after so many years! and this from a non-American, non-baseball fan. We can still enjoy such heartwarming victories.
Also I wanted to again thank everyone on this site who posts and keeps me accountable and on track.
Since posting my disappeared post this morning, definitely not a FD.
Had a spoonful of blueberries and greek yoghurt for breakfast; 3 cups of white tea or coffee; a small quiche with salad and chips( fries) for lunch so am thinking that is a lot more than 500 calories so will see how I go tomorrow for a FD – surrounded by food all day and selling ice creams!
Day 4 uk: NFD
Well I managed yesterday with only 440 calories. My fitness pal is great as you can scan food and don’t have to look up calories. It is definitely easier on a fast day being at work for 12 hours as I don’t get much time to eat or even think about it. I’ve been sleeping so much better and I have found (like today) I’m actually wishing it was a fast day because I know eating 1600 calories is going to make me feel really bloated which I don’t like. Down 5lb since Tuesday which seems a bit excessive but hey, I’m not complaining π
Day 4: Dublin: NFD
Hello all. FD yesterday went well – managed to hit the gym for some cardio. Read a summary of research yesterday that found 30 mins of exercise each day more effective longterm for health and weight loss than 60 mins each day. Last few hours of the fast before sleeping quite tricky – discovered a helpful fast-hack that works – brush teeth and mouthwash routine after fast meal – no temptation to eat later as everything tastes yucky afterwards!! ;))
Day 4 Portugal FD
Attempting a FD today. Feeling more positive after yesterday’s disastrous attempt. Thanks crillonparis for the encouragement. Already today is off to a good start with 35 min exercise (fitness blender) done. Maybe try and get a walk in sometime too. Having some friends over for dessert tonight. Will have to avoid eating it myself.
Day 5 – NFD – London, UK
Day 4 FD was going well until around 3.00pm when I got a banging headache! Was experimenting with fasting until evening meal but at this early stage I think it was too much, will go back to what I did on Monday! I ate a little more than I should have, but nothing unhealthy, so don’t feel too bad, especially as I was 1.36K down on Monday!
It’s my birthday today so I will be easing off a little since I wont have another one for a year! But will draw the reins in a bit!
Day 4, London, NFD.
Attempted a FD yesterday, did not go well. Lesson learned: saving all the calories till the evening would be easier than measuring measly bites during the day.
Aim for today, to stay within TDEE; walk 10,000 steps, do some yoga. Positive effect of week one, even if my FDs did not go well- TDEE feels really easy and generous in comparison.
D4, Melbourne, Australia, FD.
I did back to back FD for last 2 days as I have plans on the weekend and know I will want to enjoy lunch, company and some wine! That’s the great thing about intermittent fasting – can plan for social life and can be in control and nothing is forbidden if planned properly. I did have a bit over 500 calories each FD but I think it’s more important to get the 24 hr fasting period in and eating in a small timeframe window. Down another 300 gm today. Still having my spoonful of organic ACV with meals.
Good luck all.
Day 4 Aust FD turned into NFD
Started off well, even had a salad for dinner… Undone by a couple of small wines (honestly – mouthfuls!) and a small strawberry icecream. Of well, at least it was small, and it was yummy and nowhere near as sweet as I’d been worrying it would be.
The scales tomorrow will tell the damage, but tomorrow is DEF a NFD. Besides, it’s Parkrun Day! Yay!
Hope everyone is having a good challenge π
Day 4…. Florida…. FD
Another FD, for me, it starting to look like I’m enjoying my fast days more than my NFD. I have also cut back on my Sosa, upped my water in take and reduced my snacking to almost none. I’m also beginning to see a drop in my coffee consumption…. How does a avid coffee hog, have the will power to cut back on her favorite drink……… I’m beginning to think, I’m not allowed to wear any of my funny coffee shirts that friends and family bought me… such as my only exercise is to the coffee pot…… bring me coffee now!……….. etc.
My eat plan for today is salad and dressing with cantaloupe for lunch. Dinner was going to be roasted chicken but I just found out my husband and oldest won’t be home, so there is no need to make such a big dinner when half of us are missing. Husband suggested pizza but just the thought of makes my belly turn, so… who knows what I’ll end up having. But I will complete this FD with success!
Yesterday, I also found out that after Thanksgiving, there is going to be a clothing swap. So, instead of doing the after Thanksgiving sales, I will be cleaning out my closet and venturing out to see if I can get some new to me items. My hope is to see enough slimming in this body to make the exchange a good one.
Just in case no one knows what a clothing swap is, Its a group of ladies who have success in weight reduction they swap too big clothes for smaller sizes. Then any unswapped items get donated to the women’s shelter. So, it’s just like shopping but your wallet stays hidden and payment is clothes you no longer wear.
I’ve been to a couple, it’s so much fun too, because women will try on clothes that were once to big, then try on new size and the joy and laughter is amazing to see and experience the emotion of women who worked so hard to lose weight and the smaller sizes are victories for everyone in the room.
Today, I talked about small victories that I myself have experienced for this new WOL,
What are your victories? Large or small…. Lets here about them. Let’s give inspiration to those whom are struggling.
Okay, I think I’ve rambled enough this morning.
Cheers!
Michelle
Hi UK day 4 FD
ATTENTION ATTENTION PLEASE READ THIS
DAY OF CHALLENGE = DAY OF MONTH NOT WHAT DAY YOU STARTED 5:2 THIS MEANS WE ARE ALL ON SAME DAY.
MOTH54 and anyone else – THE WORD FAIL AND FAILED IS BANNED ON THIS NOVEMBER CHALLENGE!
@alanix happy birthday – hope you have a great day.
My complete guide to fasting arrived today so looking forward to reading that later especially as it is a fast day. Have a good day everyone and plan so your weekend does not undo all the good work you have put in through the week. You want to hit Monday running not using it as a means to undo the excess of the weekend. BE MINDFUL YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND WHEN YOU DECIDE NOT TO SURRENDER THAT IS STRENGTH – SO BE STRONG EVERYONE – BELIEVE YOU CAN AND YOU ARE HALFWAY THERE.
Enemies of the People π – the compulsive feeders who constantly bring sweets and cake to work. This week, there have been mountains of sweets lurking by each tea/coffee making station- for Diwali, for and post Halloween (tons!), then the remnants of some bake sale were wheeled in and finally today boxes of donuts.
Day 4 – Switzerland – FD
Yesterday was the first NFD in ages where I managed to stick to the plan and eat under my goal-TDEE. Managed the drinks evening on sparkling water (in a wine glass!) and a handful of nuts, which I had already accounted for.
Today’s FD is going well. I’ve planned a hearty veggie and prawn stir-fry for dinner. Just off to make my midday miso.
For everyone suffering headaches on FDs or the day after, I find it really helps to have a miso soup at lunchtime to keep up my salt content. Other people on the forum swear by bouillon or a cup of Bovril. In the first few months of this WOE I found that I was feeling really crummy (shaky, headachy, run-down) the day after a FD, so now I try to make sure my FD dinner is really nutritious and try to avoid sugar and simple carbs. For me, it made all the difference…
Lovely words @coda, even if you are shouting!
Day 4, Hertfordshire UK, NFD
So hungry yesterday but got through it with only one extra to the normal eating although it was a piece of damper (just over 400 kcal) which took me over 1500 kcal for the day
I’m having a real psychological battle today – why does this feel “bad” to me? Like I shouldn’t have had it and that I have to make up for it today. Without it I would have been on 1100 !?!?!?!
There is more damper which I have brought into the office and am trying not to have any…… is it the end of the world if I do? Probably not.
Am going for an alcohol free weekend which will be the second in a row – unheard if of for me!
Hopefully progress will be made before next Wednesday weigh in despite the damper.
Good luck and have a great weekend
Day 4, Brisbane Australia FD
My second ever fast day. Started well with approx 200 cal breakfast, went for a walk at lunch so I wouldn’t be sitting around colleagues eating. Then the gods transpired against me – had a one o’clock meeting & got stuck in a very small room with the door closed with 4 colleagues who went and got hamburgers to eat during the meeting and brought hot chips for the rest of us to share. Almost killed me! I got through the 45 minute meeting by breathing through my mouth so I only had to deal with the visual sense & not the smell. Felt good to stay strong, and completed the day on my 500 calories. Feeling pretty stoked!
Day 4. FLA USA NFD. Hopefully I will post today’s Post properly and have it show. A good day – off to gym class with weights so that will make two aerobics classes and two yoga classes a week plus some walking . November has started off well I’m finally exercising a little and it’s definitely showing. Love the back-to-back fast days (M&T) just seems to work so much better for me and liquids only. Get the fasting out of the way early in the week so it leaves me the rest of the week to work on prope quantities and healthy choices. Have a good weekend.
