Day 24, London, FD
Day 23 NFD
Day 22 NFD
Day 21 NFD
Thanks @ad and @okeydokey for your comments and support. I’m losing weight if I weigh myself on a Friday, but don’t seem to be loosing in on Monday – 3 or 4lbs up on Friday. I must be doing something wrong over the weekend. But I won’t let myself get down about it (yet!). I’ll keep going as today’s FD is going well. I’m just not sure I will have lost my target of 4lbs over the month on Sunday.
Day 24 – 2nd post
Thought I would have a catch up to help me stay strong on my FD – going to an evening yoga class at 6pm so that will keep me going strong for the evening I hope………
Hello @fivetwofan5252 – great job on reaching my goal weight! Join those of us who are still working hard to maintain for the rest of this challenge if you want and for the May one too – I added you to the pocketeers list for extra support on your FD 🤗
@fatrabbit – apologies as I first added that pesky ? as was not sure whether you were fasting or not and it just got copied and pasted but I see that @okeydokey has removed it for you
@johnnyr – nice to “hear” from you again and YES you can do the 72 hr fast!
@Chitown Gal and @mogaman – you can add yourself to a Pocketeers list – just copy and paste the list on your post and don’t forget to add your name! The link to the April Spreadsheet is on the bottom of @okeydokey‘s last post. If you are the first person posting on any given day and you are fasting you can start a pocketeers list and other will add themselves to your list as they post……
LET US HAVE A STRONG LAST WEEK OF THIS 30 DAY APRIL 2017 CHALLENGE
Pocketeers list for Monday Day 24 – if you are fasting please copy & paste not forgetting to add your name – the more the better for support across the globe!!!

Day 24 – CARDIFF UK – FD
Starting Weight : 160.8lbs
Today’s Weight : 161.5lbs +0.7lbs
That KFC chicken has a lot to answer for. I came in well under TDEE, but gained 1.4lb overnight, but it was very salty so hoping of a whoosh when I lose the retained water.
Thanks @okeydokey for adding me to the list of pocketeers for today. I’ve done a liquid fast today and contemplating my first B2B with a 500 cal tomorrow. I think I’ll see how I feel in the morning.
Stay strong everyone
@at, thanks!
24–MA, USA–FD. This is my first fast day since last Monday, and I need to make it a good one. Not liking how I look and feel after a week of being very off plan, but I guess that’s my incentive to make this week a good one. I know I’ll feel better by the end of the week if I get back on track, starting today.
@okeydokey, a couple corrections for the spreadsheet below.
Day 1 was a NFD
Day 18 was a NFD
Thanks for all the work and time you put into the April challenge!!
Day 24 FD St. Louis USA
WOW! What an amazing list of fasters! Planning to do b2b so fasting again tomorrow. 800 calories. Also want to join May challenge. Thanks and let’s do it.

@okeydokey, thanks forgot to tell you yesterday, day 23 was a NFD, today day 24 is a FD.
Day 24 / UK / NFD
Day 25 / UK / FD
I had planned today as a FD, but with the first of two events going live I wasn’t going to force it. I wasn’t so nervous about it actually, but its timing pushed my first meal very far into the morning and I couldn’t be bothered with an overly long second half of the day, so I ended up with two lattes (one a celebratory one as it went okay, yay!) and a blueberry cheesecake muffin (my current vice) on top of my usual FD meals. So be it. Tomorrow and Wednesday will be normal FDs, Thursday as controlled as I can make it. Event no. 2 of this week will happen on Friday, again the timing isn’t great, again I’ll see how it goes. Not quite the final push I wanted to give April to push not only into but maybe even through my intended goal area (another 0.2 to 0.7kg to go–it’s still possible). But that just means I will reach my overall goal a little later, not that I won’t reach it at all. April with birthdays and Easter was always going to get tricky, so I am okay with how I have gotten through it so far.
If the weight can plateau, so can you. If you are fed up with all this, just do whatever keeps you on this WOL in the long run. Good luck, everyone!
— for those of you who have been doing challenges for a while —
I am sad to report that my brother passed away in San Diego early this morning. I did get out there to see him in October and March and oh so glad for that. He’s had COPD for many years, on oxygen, and has spent the last several months in the hospital battling pneumonia. I know his fiancee battled for his health care with all her might, but isn’t death always a shock?
Day 24 – USA – NFD
@songbirdme, so so sorry to hear of your loss. Condolences to you and yours!
Day 25/CD NFD/Melbourne Australia
@songbirdme i’m so sorry to hear your news. My thought and condolences are with you.
Day 25 NZ FD
@songbirdme – so sorry to hear of your loss {hugs}
Second post.
I’ve finally managed to catch up on the thread! Fast day has gone well today. Back to swimming and although still a bit breathless I’m well on the mend. I’m going to do ADF this week to try and zap those pounds.
@cleo120 you are not alone in your struggles. Hold tight there and climb back on that wagon! We’ve got your back!
@onahealthyhigh I hope those pesky little blighters are soon out of your hair (figuratively speaking, that is!) There’s nothing worse!
@and…Exhale your holiday sounds ideal. We spent a couple of weeks on that coast and loved every minute.
@brightonbelle I have very happy memories of Brighton. My granny lived in Saltdean and we spent many happy summers in the Lido. Let’s keep strong. I’ve started this week with a new resolve. While I don’t want to curb my socialising, I’m going to have to find a happy balance!
@jarbia I hope the weather improves! We are not known for our tropical climate but there’s lots to see! I hope you enjoy your break.
@belfastsink. My goal is something similar – my blowout at Easter put pay to any loss, but hey, no guilt. Just press the reset button! This is A WOL, not a diet and a race.
SCS I can’t believe someone could be so unreasonable for just one night’s stay. You did so well to brush it off.
I’m feeling very positive. Good luck to those pocketeers whose day is not over yet! Stay strong!
@songbirdme I’m so sorry to hear your sad news. No matter how expected it is, it’s never easy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
@songbirdme – so very sorry to hear your sad news. I remember you posting about going to see you brother and was hopeful things were better. I hope the happy memories will help you and your family over the next months.
@songbirdme.
My thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Blimey! I see it really has been a long gap in my postings.
Thanks to @okeydokey and @at for the warm words of encouragement.
Looking at the calendar. My fast days (since I posted on Day 6) have been:
7, 10, 12, 14 to 15 (36 hr fast), 18 and 20-21 (36 hr fast).
No too bad really, but I have also eaten my own body weight in chocolate and other naughty foods over Easter, so I’m expecting the goddess of scales to pour scorn on me on Friday’s weigh-in 🙂 .
Day 24, FD, USA
@songbirdme: I am so sorry to hear the sad news about the passing of your brother. I pray for peace for you and your family. Keep taking good care of you. 🙂
JohnnyR: I am attempting a 72 hour fast as I type this; this nasty inflammation brought on by allergy season is reeking havoc on my body and thwarting all of my good IF efforts, so I need to shake things up. So far, so good, as long as I stay 100 feet away from the kitchen. 🙂 I did a 72 hour last year and it’s not too bad — as long as you are drinking gallons of water! I’m sipping a little bone broth mid day. It’s not skipping through the tulips, but it’s doable — if I can do it, you can.
@songbirdme I remember you sharing your concerns about your brother in a previous challenge and you are so right that it is always surprising how surprised we are by death; and it takes some time for us to work our way through all the emotions it brings to the fore.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and always very dear” Big Virtual HUG dear Songbird xx
Sending a big hug your way @songbirdme. My deepest sympathies for your loss. I can’t imagine losing a sibling and how hard and shocking it must be for you 🙁

Please add your name on the May forum.
Good night everyone!
@songbirdme – I am saddened by the news of your brother’s passing. I pray for your peace and solace and hope you are comforted by the knowledge that you had the opportunity to visit with him this past year. Hugs.
day 25, Sydney Australia.
April has been a tricky month – two trips interstate to help out with family medical emergencies. So although I have maintained my weight I’ve not fasted for nearly two weeks. Surprisingly I am looking forward to another FD tomorrow.
Still am pleased that the March and April challenges and 5:2 has really increased my sensitivity to sugar. I don’t want it, and can really notice it now in food. My only ongoing weakness is that end of day glass of wine on NFDs. Im not a big drinker by any stretch, but its a ritual that switches me away from the work day. How do others manage this? Thoughts?
and @pissupoosa please add me into the May challenge. thanks
Dear Songbird, I am sending you all the comfort I can at the loss of your brother. It is great that you were able to visit him on those occasions over the past year. And, yes, death does come as a shock, even when we are expecting it. Big hugs and may there still be music in your soul when you remember your brother.
Day 25 UK NFD
@jennferb – well done on maintaining through a tricky month when you have been negotiating family emergencies and for reducing sugar so well. A single glass of wine on NFDs, counted in to TDEE doesn’t seem such a bad thing to me. Personally I think we have to be careful about depriving ourselves of every little NFD treat or we risk feeling deprived and breaking out. If you really felt you needed to reduce it you could reduce the number of days to just a couple a week.
Day 25 Newcastle UK NFD.
Yesterday Fast doesn’t end till midday today, it feels totally normal not to eat till midday now fits well into my routine.
Stayed strong yesterday as my team was promoted to the premiership that would have ment celebrating with lots of alcohol kebab and chips and Lashings of garlic sauce lol.
Better choice was the near black coffee with two sweeteners.
Good luck anyone fasting today
B2B fast Fri & Sat for me.
Toon toon black & white army ⚽🏆
Day 25 UK NFD
This morning my weight is 191.8 or 87kg and my waist has lost another half inch:)) 32.5 inches now. Hips/bust down too. Measurements had been static for a couple of weeks so that is nice. ADF is looking like a good choice. And I can eat what I want today. Yesterday it really really helped being able to tell myself I can eat tomorrow. So I was able to resist the chocolate covered nuts, and fortunately as my sister couldn’t there are none left. Actually as today is a work day finding time to eat will be tricky. I like to sit down and relax when I eat to properly appreciate it not just grab something in a rush, that always ends badly and I feel as if I have missed out and am more likely to be hungry later.
It was so cold last night, I put the covers down on the hutches that still have them on. I hope the others weren’t too miserable. Poor Jolly is still on his own:(( Nobun to snuggle with:(( The sun is bright though so it should warm up quite quickly now.
@songbirdme So sorry to hear your sad news:(
@at I wasn’t actually upset about the question mark, but rather amused by the way it kept coming back after I edited it away twice.
My sincere condolences for your loss, @songbirdme.
Day 25 – FIN – NFD
Yesterday’s tally: about 500 kcal (an apple + almonds as a late lunch/breakfast, king prawn + veg stir fry in a sweet & sour sauce with brown rice for dinner, 1/2 pear for dessert; over 3 l in fluids)
Still can’t seem to focus on my studies on FDs I’m studying at home – I seem to focus too much on the hunger to be able to accomplish anything. Any tips?
Day 25 UK NFD Trick today is eat enough to feel satisfied and confident to go for another FD tomorrow but not go mad ,feel relatively confident today can be a good day
@songbirdme Gwynne I recall your earlier posts, so sorry for your loss ❤️
Thanks for adding me on the May list @pissupapoosa
Day 25 Belfast NFD
I had a v good FD yesterday and a challenging but invigorating swim yesterday evening. The scales are down a couple so at least I hope to re-coup my pre Easter weight before the end of the month. We are putting in a raised vegetable bed, so I have a tonne of topsoil and compost to shovel today, which should prove a good workout!
@chumi, thank you for the links. I like oxo which is a boullion cube. I find the salty taste satisfying, herbal teas and lots of water too. Sparkling, with a slice of lemon, a few blueberries etc is also good.
@lynzm I have that dragon well and truly back in It’s cage. Feeling good and focused.
@pissupoosa count me in for the May challenge. Thank you for hosting.
@jarbia I hope you enjoy your trip here. Lots to see and do. I hope the weather is kind to you. Whereabouts are you going to? Did you have a good day yesterday?
@brightonbelle I’m guessing that your name reflects where you come from. My grannie lived in Saltdean and I have very happy memories of sunny summers in the Lido! Hope your day went well yesterday.
@belfastsink we are very similar. I’m working on alternate FDs so I can finish this month at least where I started. Good luck!
@Strawberriesandcream, that cold clear liquid in a freezing bottle with the condensation running down the side was my Easter downfall too! Am off to Portugal in two weeks so might just sample the vino verde! Mmm! Meantime, on the wagon.
@onahealthyhigh I hope you get those pesky visitors out of your hair (figuratively speaking, of course)! They’re heard to catch!
@lilymartin I loved your quotes!
@jennferb I agree with Sarah57. A little of what you fancy is no bad thing. This is, after all, a WOL rather than a diet.
@fatrabbit, great stats. Well done. I’m trying ADF for the first time, rather than b2bs, so I shall look to you for my inspiration!
And finally, @okeydokey, what an amazing and inspiring host you’ve been. Thank you for your sunny disposition and caring words of support. 😎
Well, one more cup of coffee, then the shovel awaits. Have a good day everyone!
Day 25 Notts UK BSD
Good BSD day yesterday, feel like I am back on track! Spent the night on the settee watching over my little girl Tilly. She has been throwing up since last night can’t even keep water down. Not good when you only weigh 2.5 kilos to start with. Woke up to her munching on a chew stick so feeling better but then promptly threw that up. Hopefully she will improve during the day otherwise it will be a trip to the vet. Anyway will try not to let this derail me. Onwards and downwards.
