  • Day 18, NFD, USA
Weight is coming off slow this month; 3 pounds down; trying not to get frustrated, but blame spring allergies, as it always effects inflammation in my body and tends to flare the ‘ol Lyme Disease up in bloom. (I feel it in the small joints of my hands and my digestion is way off – meh.) So the last ten pounds not easy, but I’m hanging in there. I am, though, staying in control – rather than letting food take control, so for that I feel I am succeeding. Sleeping better on FDs, though, so for all of you insomniacs starting out, your body does eventually get used to falling asleep on less!

    Day 19 / UK / FD

Today was tough. I came back from my lunch break with a bit of a headache and just didn’t feel like I should be doing things for which I needed to pay close attention to details, making posters with dates on them and the like… in the end I also snacked a little when I got home: my sister made me fortune cookies for my new post-relationship life (I marvel at this level of creativity! …and also wasn’t letting home-made fortune cookies go bad). So be it, slowly growing into the mindset of just aiming for FDs all working week, I am starting to test out what I can allow myself while still getting closer to my goal (the scales will probably let me know tomorrow πŸ˜‰ ).

@erikaa67 I understand. The Spring and the fall stir up allergies causing inflammation. I have Lyme disease also. It seems the areas where the Lyme disease has spread seem worse. I have a link about the benefits of fasting that can help “heal” Lyme disease. I read it to help get me through some of my fasting days.
    If your interested, here’s the link;
    http://www.uprootinglyme.com/juice-fasting/top-10-reasons-why-fasting-heals/

    Day19 NFD NZ
Today I’ll break my fast at about 39hours I think. I like to get two fasted workouts in my window of fasting so off to the gym this morning before I decide to eat.
It’s funny how the evening of a FD can seem really challenging but the next morning when I should be struggling harder having gone longer without food I feel like it’s easy to keep going. I hope this is me burning fat!!
@lilymartin – I really loved your way of putting your response to offers of food – I’m going to use that in my head to keep me focused. Do I want it YES, am I going to have it NO!

    Day 19/FD 800/Melbourne/Australia

@at thank you for including me on the latest pocketeers list. Yesterday was my fast day down under but since I’m on the new list I’ll stay on albeit at 800calories.

@songbirdme the following thread may answer some of your questions https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/maintenance-after-2-years-more-of-a-challenge . Adding a positive note to the conversation I’m still maintaining under goal despite the recent blip ( too much wine) and am finding it easier to maintain. The key for me is getting to know myself and my body, vigilance, fasting for the health benefits, enjoying eating foods I love albeit healthy ones and reducing but not eliminating carbs, they made me very, very hungry! Our journeys are personal, finding what works makes all the difference.

@okeydokey Great advice can I add being absolutely honest with yourself!

@orpheusx I’m so sorry. Take care.

Day19 Australia NFD but continuing my FD until after 8:30am to complete 36 hours..

    Day 19 – Tokyo, Japan – NFD 79.2kg

I eat a lot of fruit yesterday, 2 bananas, serving of raisins, 2 servers of prunes and one apple. Overall I think I felt much fuller and my appetite was subdued so I probably eat less food over all. I did have three coffees with flex seed meal mixed in, I drink it with a straw. I like the texture, it is similar to bubble tea with tapioca, except the tiny bits of flax seed are much smaller. The hot coffee seems to bring the fat to the surface on the pieces of seeds and they become slippery.

@at & @lany36 – Walking up better than when you start sleeping while fasting is pretty common. I used to have a lot of issues sleeping while fasted but now I’m fine.

I’m horribly busy and have to maybe skip my exercise or at least scale it back. However I think there is no reason to scale back the fasting.
    * Fasting is protective of muscle where as calorie restriction seems to be hard on muscle.
    * Fasting saves time.

However I’m still taking my non-fast days. πŸ™‚ My average weight this month is 79.5kg … just barely hanging in there.

Hi uk day 18 co down supposed to be a fd but wasn’t!

Argh why is it so hard to lock the Dragon away after you have let it out of it’s cage. I need to have a good talking too and remember if I want to change I need to change.

    Day 18 Surrey UK NFD

    @onahealthyhigh Thank-you and yes, that’s important. ✨

    DAY 18. UK. NFD

I may have over indulged today ! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

FD tomorrow so hoping that will set me straight. I’m ok once I’ve done a FD but by the time I get to the end of the week, I’m fed up of them. I’m doing 4:3 at the moment.

Day 19 possible FD country west Australia
trying for an 800 calorie FD but will see as YS coming home today for a few days and I have stuff chicken already organised fo dinner this evening.

The rabbit seems to have hopped away because the scales were very user-friendly this morning, but I will wait until Saturday to record.
@okeydokey , apologies for not recording my weight last Saturday but away from home and no scales. Will let you know this week.

To those frustrated at not losing weight, hang in there. I have been on this forum since I started in November 2016 and have lost weight. However I did plateau for several weeks and got a bit despondent.
The Fat Fairy can be pretty mean when she drops her spare tyres around one’s waist in the middle of the night! She must have reconsidered me recently because she has kindly ( but not before time!!) deflated my tractor tyre to a motor bike tyre.
I am still losing weight but much more slowly at present. However, I am always aware of the general health benefits so keep on keeping on.

Just worked out that if I keep losing weight at the current rate, I should reach goal when I am about 119!!

@orpheusx, condolences. Thoughts and prayers from across the world. Will be thinking of you even when you are not posting. We’ll still be here for you if/when you’re ready. Losing people close to you is difficult. x

    Day 19, Vienna, Austria, NFD

Day 18 rushed by. But…..I DID NOT eat the food on KLM. Looked good. Had a little beer and water and felt good.

Amsterdam. Still no food. I got confused. Finally found gate to Vienna. Sleep on plane. Suddenly wide awake. KLM feeds you from AMS to VIE. I was so hungry. I ate the chicken sandwich so fast, then ogled my neighbor’s and said “are you eating this?” Another passenger gave me more of theirs. I felt like an animal. Hihi.
Then in Vienna, ice cold, rain. My BFF there. Nervous. Total car chaos outside. Brought me safely to my hotel. I am so hungry. I then walked 20 min in the rain to a new 24 hours Spar to get a tuna sandwich. Then 20 min back on dark back roads. No tuna sandwich has tasted better ever.

Adventures will continue, I am sure.

    Thanks for all of you!!!

    πŸ˜Šβš˜πŸ˜šβš˜πŸ˜Šβš˜πŸ˜‹βš˜πŸ˜Šβš˜

Extra post – my approach to Easter was to enjoy our weekend with friends; there was a lot of food and wine and there was a lot of walking and talking. Wonderful. On Tuesday I brought my two easter eggs, and leftover hot cross scones and brownies in to the office and they were gone before COB. Result! Will now search the fridge for any other chocolates still hiding out and bring them in tomorrow. It pays to work with a flock of gannets! πŸ™‚

    Day 19 – UAE – NFD

@onahealthyhigh – thanks for the link to that other forum. It is nice to read about others who are on maintenance (you too) and figuring out how our bodies are doing all this reacting to IF, carbs, sweets, etc.

    Day 19 Melbourne NFD 16:8

    Thanks @at!

@monkeydo yes I struggle with getting exercise, too, during working weeks (no probs when I’m on hols, I love it, then). Just seems like another ‘should/ought/must do’ that is hard to fit in after working full time, maintaining house, maintaining garden, maintaining self, maintaining social relationships… I enjoy it once I start, but getting up/out to start is the hard bit. I have been on a few half-hour walks this month, which is better than nothing and I am on my feet nearly all day on the weekends, so I console myself with that thought and the aim I have: to join every walking group known to woman, when I retire! I hope you are enjoying beautiful Melbourne.

Turmeric – Dr Mosely likes it too, this is an experiment he did: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-37408293

    Day 19 UK FD800

Lost weight again, now 193.8. Progress is much steadier on the BSD at least for now. Ys did stick to his first fast day on Monday and didn’t go mad yesterday. He is fasting again today. He got up at a better time yesterday and hopefully slept last night.

    Day 19 UK NFD

@coda that hunger dragon! What is shocking to me is that just when you think you have this WOL as a permanent fixture the HD can take over again. Hoping I have been firm enough with mine over the last two days to put it back where it belongs. Good luck to you too.

Still not braving the scales to see Easter bunny damage…but it’s still there…..

    Day 19 – South Korea – NFD
    short update:
    day 17: FD
    day 18 NFD
    day 19 NFD
    day 20 & 21 B2B FD.

Day 19 UK NFD Very happy with yesterday’s fast managed to keep busy and really didn’t even think about eating til late afternoon so relatively easy to manage ,plan a good controlled NFD today FD on Thursday and then might even try and squeeze another in on Friday .

If you do check in Thinking of you @orpheusx ❀️

    DAY 19 – UK – FD

Trying a b2b – just trying to get back on track after over indulging on holiday and Easter. Must say, it is surprising how good it feels to be “in control” again – I never dreamed I would ever enjoy the discipline of this WOL……Bring it on !!!!

Day 19, London, UK, FD (2nd of unscheduled B2B)

After the β€˜Epic face stuffing Easter weekend’, I had an easy 400cal FD yesterday and I’m feeling re-energized, so I’m fasting today too. I’m helped by the fact that it’s my TOM, so my appetite is supressed anyway……………… I’ll take all the help I can get!!!!

I think I actually heard my body sigh in relief during yesterdays FD!!!

Good luck everyone, there’s loads of space on this wagon, you just need to scramble aboard!!!!!

    Day 19, Newcastle UK, FD

    Day 19 – FIN – NFD

I managed to not fall any deeper into the pit yesterday after the mid-day sweet snacking frenzy, although a slice of curd cake left over from Easter did tempt me after dinner.

I woke up today with a zit and clogged pores on my forehead – suppose this is what you get from eating sugar again.

@okeydokey, thank you for keeping up with all of us, I understand the task might at times feel a little daunting. I noticed that you had marked last Monday, 17/4 as a NFD for me when it in fact was a FD. I’d appreciate it if you could correct that the next time you update the document.

    Day 19, Germany, NFD

    Day 17 UK NFD
    Day 18 UK FD
Thanks for popping me in your pockets and you are in mine.

    Day 19 UK NFD
I didn’t overdo Easter at all, I overdid yesterday instead and now I am suffering for it πŸ‘Ž

Hello from a chilly but dry Newcastle. Day 19, NFD after yesterdays FD.

It was hard yesterday & by 17:00hrs I was really struggling but did still manage to have well below 800.
I was very cold, very ratty & as we are both on a FD, very near to a row particularly with the ‘in law’ not helping the situation.
We are both starving & the ‘in law’ is still having 2 hours feeds!
Then, when we cook the ‘in law’ dinner (obviously one we cannot eat), the ‘in law’ has toast 20 mins prior to the food going on the table & which I know will not be finished, as cake etc. is eaten in preference to good wholesome food.
I had to quickly put water over what was left from the ‘in laws’ meal, as I was very close to scrapping the bowl, I was so hungry.
It will be difficult to say anything as the ‘in law’ takes umbridge & sulks. I am finding hard enought as it is to be civil never mind having to cope with a bad atmosphere. I keep using @… breath’s hashtag. Hope she doesn’t mind.

As usual, on a FD went to bed sharp with a bottle of H2O which I drank through out the night but still woke with a bad head.
Even the 4 mile walk has not helped so will have to give in to drugs. Only minor ones tho folks.

Now worried about my next FD on Friday.
Yesterday ate only 1/2 a grapefruit prior to a walk & bike ride, then had the porridge late am with evening meal at 16:00hrs.
Although I did not ‘die’ (nice to be reassured that the body CAN go so long without food) going so long, as I am at work might need to take some veg for lunch to see if that helps. Any suggestions?
New scales arrive hopefully tomorrow so will have to try them out even tho it is not a weigh day.
    Keep going folk.

    Day 19……Florida…… FD

Well, I managed to at least stay on the wagon yesterday. A big thank you to everyone who held onto me for dear life. My foot did manage to slip through the hole, it only dragged on the ground a minute or two before you all helped me pull it back in.

Is it possible to stop the wagon when we see a home improvement store, I really need to fix this hole…….

Well not much else to report at this time, so I’m off!

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy!

    Day 12-17 UK NFD
    Day 18 FD
    Day 19 NFD

We were away in Hastings for the Easter weekend which was wonderful, with plenty of sunny, bright days. Lots of food but also plenty of exercise.

We stayed in a cute B&B and they served home made bread at breakfast – so delicious and I ate quite a bit of it over the 3 days we were there…but by the 3rd day I really didn’t feel good – I am not a bread eater usually unless it is some amazing artisan bread in a restaurant. The way I felt on the 3rd day is really enough to put me off having it regularly – I was lethargic, tired, grumpy blood sugar all over the place. – So lesson learnt but it’s really addictive! once you start it’s hard to stop, just one more slice!!!!

Anyway back on the wagon and had a good fast day yesterday and planning another for tomorrow in prep for the in-laws visiting at the weekend!

Good luck to all on their FD and NFDs!

    xx

    Day 19 – US – FD

Day 18 was supposed to be a FD but I gave in to the hunger dragon around 11 am and ate a salad and some salmon. Then had another salad in the evening, with lots of olive oil on it, and some yogurt with fruit, so definitely over my 500 calories. Happy news is I was down two pounds today.

    Day 19, Germany, FD

    Day 19-US-CD 16:8 (weight 209.8)
    Day 20-US-FD
    Day 21-US-NFD

I m seeing progress! I just want my face to think out and the double chin to diminish,

How much weight did you lose before you started seeing a noticeable difference in jawline and slimness of your face?

    Day 19 – USA (Illinois) – FD

Going to do a 500-600 calorie day today. Staying at maintenance 160# but NFD’s are significantly under TDEE. I guess that’s what my body is going to do and be.

    Onward and downward!

    2nd post – NFD
The extra fruit is killing my appetite. I eat well enough but very limited amount of snacking, an apple mid-afternoon. This morning I also doubled up on the oatmeal but that is only 100 calories.

It is hard to estimate but probably 300 to 500 fewer calories in the day but I actually feel fuller. Whole fruit is filling when you eat 5 or 6 servings of it.

    Day 19- USA-NFD

    Day19-Sydney Aus-NFD 69.5
Seems I need to control food on NFD as well. @okeydokey Thanks for the advice.
How about exercise? Can I loose weight if no exercise?
Anyone also found bowel habit changed? I used to be in the morning once get up. Now seems not regular anymore.

Day 19, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Hello all, beautiful sunny day here – should be close to 90 degrees!

Still in maintenance, had a bowl of homemade chili and avocado toast for dinner last night and my husband said it was one of the best meals he has ever eaten. He is so cute.

Wishing all well, cannot believe that this month is drawing to a close.

    Day 19 lancaster pa FD.

    Day 19-USA-FD

    Day 19 – US – FD
@skinnylove If you get a chance, to eat vegetables with Omega oils such as avocados, or Omega oils capsules taken will help with the mental clarity while your fasting and also on NFD’s.
@redrockgirl302 πŸ’›Love reading about your adventures! Safe travels, Take care.βœ¨πŸ’›
@biddiev Thanks for sharing the article from Dr. Mosley. My mother used to make chicken with onions and turmeric on rice for dinners while I was growing up. I’m going to start making it more often. It reads as though having it in heated food might be able to prevent depression, asthma, eczema, and cancer.
@fatrabbit ✨Good for you! Good for your ys✨😊Keep it up!😊 Your doing Great!
    @happyslim 😊✨Thank-you for the updates.
@chumi Your updated and Your Welcome!βœ¨πŸŒˆπŸ•Š
@annnursekirk, I’m about 5 hours behind your time. You may not get this post in time for your lunch break today, although it will be in time for your next FD. A small salad with vinegar and light oil dressing helps. Fresh avocado because it already has potassium and Omega oils, add a little salt. A bit of Potassium, magnesium and salt help during FD’s. Other options; Cucumber, tomato if you can get to it. Warm Veggies like green beans, squash, zucchini might be able to order at a diner as well as a small salad πŸ₯— will help while fasting.
@umka6 People started telling me I was losing weight in my face and neck after I lost 15lbs in March. 😊✨I’m working on lowering more in size of arms and abdomen.😊 It happens, maybe not in the order we’d like. It will happen. Keep on, and Stay Strong.✨

πŸŒˆπŸ•ŠFeeling good about ourselves is one of the best ways to keep going. Be kind to yourself.✨πŸ₯—
    ✨Together we are Stronger✨😊

    Day 19 – USA – FD

Day 19: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD (but didn’t eat til 1.30pm, so quite good for me)

@at…thanks for listening to me, and hearing. What has changed? I don’t know…since reaching my goal I just seem to have lost the plot. I feel alone with it too. Nearly a stone back on since I fell off the wagon in early January…nearly half of what I lost. Failure breeds failure, the same way as success breeds success.

Don’t let it happen, you people out there.
It’s a WAY OF LIFE, NOT A DIET.

Day 19 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD

    Day 19 – Cumbria UK – FD (3rd of B2B2B)

Really enjoyed my meal yesterday evening – low calorie spicy mixed seafood stew with red peppers, tomatoes and spinach – so managed to stay below 500cals……πŸ˜‡

Today will be another 500cal day and going well so far…….I’m out to see COPPΓ‰LIA by the Australian Ballet tonight – it is meant to be a live telecast – looking forward to that and it will keep me well away from food!!!!

@okeydokey – πŸ€— you are doing such a fab job keeping us all on track this month
@orpheusx – we are here for you if you want to pop in anytime to talk – it does not need to be about 5:2! You take care of yourself and know that your friends on here are only a log in away – “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard but always near, still loved , still missed and very dear ” HUGS
@erikaa67 – stay with this WOL – just check that you are not overdoing the calories on both your FD and NFD – have you thought of trying 16:8 way of eating on your NFD – I found that really helpful when I was stuck on a plateau last year……
@coda – how did that “talking to go”???
@redrockgirl302 – nice to hear from you – keep us in your backpacker for support xx
@fatrabbit – good job – something is definitely working for you – keep doing it
    @bert1802 – πŸ’ƒ just for you
@fayefaye – sounds like a lovely break in Hastings
@stone176055 – you don’t need to exercise to lose weight – you just need to eat less calories BUT exercise does make you feel good and improves your mental well being. However exercise can speed up weight loss if you don’t eat extra calories to make for it!
@ciren2 – Love yourself enough to live a healthy life! I’m going to keep holding on to you tight every day until you are ready for me to let go – You will get there – just keep going – HUGS

I saw this and it made me laugh – it should resonate to us all who have a love/hate relationship with those bathroom scales…………”cruella” anybody?
“In the middle ages, they had guillotines, stretch racks, whips and chains. Nowadays we have a much more effective torture device called the bathroom scales”

    Day 19 – US – FD 3rd b5b

@stone176055 I have found that exercise with the heart rate at 80bpm up to around 120 bpm example walking, helps me with fat loss. Any exercise that causes my body to be stressed also raises cortisol which then prevents fat loss. When I am able to go into maintenance I could do more high intensity with higher bpm. As of now, I’m in physical therapy for my left knee. When I started I couldn’t do much exercise. So I fasted more. My thoughts were instead of eating and trying to excercise off the weight which I couldn’t because of my knee. I would only eat fresh healthy vegs and protein during the week or not eat on FD’s. My FD’s originally started as 2 FD’s T. and TH. for the first week. Then 2 days b2b the 2nd week. The 3rd week I did 3 days b2b and on the 4th I did 5 days b2b or what I call b5b. So with only walking 5,000 steps a day I lost 14.6lbs. (walking around a loop in our neighborhood about a mile. Also regular steps in the day. I can’t stand up for more than a 1/2 an hour at a time at this point without my knee swelling.)
I found that a couple capsules of vitamin C, or tomato cucumber’s radishes salt pepper and paprika mixed with Ninja blender, help with constipation. By the 3rd day constipation is usually gone and now the issue could be diarrhea. If you can eat a bit of cheese that will stop that for me. Some may have dairy issues in that case the cheese is not a good idea for everyone. As you can see, the plan is flexible but ultimately you have to get your nutrients, you have to lower your cals if you want to lose weight. Keeping in mind how many calories it takes to maintain your body weight, if you are fasting your burning and losing that much dailyπŸ‘
Keep trying 😊It will work✨If you work it!✨

πŸŒˆπŸ•ŠFeeling good about ourselves is one of the best ways to keep going. Be kind to yourself.✨πŸ₯—
