    Day 18, Newcastle UK, FD

    Day 18, London, UK, FD

Back on track hopefully, bone broth at the ready!!!

    Day 18 UK FD

Yesterday’s fast was quite hard after a sugar and carb rich weekend. There was a particular low point when I realised I was not going to be able to complete a water fast. Reading your posts (esp @flourbaby) really helped to keep me on track and I came in well under 500.

After protein and salad only yesterday I feel stronger and will be fasting again today and then Thursday. It is very unusual for me to do more than the standard two fast days but needs must.

@fatrabbit, @okeydokey, @coda your children are lucky to have mothers who take their responsibilities so seriously and carefully. It is such a difficult job and there are so many pitfalls along the way. It is so hard not to feel guilt about our own real or imagined inadequacies. My children are both in their 30s and if things go wrong in their life I am always sure it is something I have done or not done.

Good wishes to all and especially those on their first fast day after that pesky Easter Rabbit!

    Day 16 Melbourne NFD
    Day 17 NFD
    Day 18 NFD

Sorry gals n guys seem to have fallen in a heap. Am hanging in, to some degree, with mainly 16:8 and feeling sorry for the momentary sugar-fest with chocolate, that I didn’t even enjoy – Yuk-oh! too sickly sweet! And felt grotty afterwards for the rest of the day.

I’m just going to take it a day at a time, CDs, and jump back on when I’ve rallied a bit. Otherwise I think I might go all negative on myself, and I really really don’t want to do that.

    Day 18 Portugal FD

Another FD for me. Yesterday’s was quite easy so thought I’d just continue. May be just a tad over the 500 cal as I am making baked sweet and sour chicken tonight – I will need to control my portion size! Anyway after such a terrible weekend I feel like I need to be super careful this week and so I am doing a day or two extra of fasting this week.
    Have a good day!

    Day 18 – US – FD (2nd day of B2B)

Good morning all! (or good afternoon for those of you in Mongolia and Japan and Australia!)

My 500 calorie FD yesterday turned out to be closer to an 800-calorie FD. But I was still down a couple of pounds. I had such a hectic day with a very exhausting afternoon of being outside on my feet in the sun and by the time I got home at 6:30 and hadn’t eaten any solid food all day, I just ate a bit too much!! It makes one realize how easy it is to eat a lot of calories.

Hope all you fasters do great today!!!

    Day 18 – UK – FD

So many of us getting back on the wagon yesterday and today. Like most of,us I had all kinds of treats over the weekend. Culminating for me in my favourite pudding – rhubarb crumble. I blame my father in law – it’s a weekly fixture on the shopping we do for him and I’d been obsessing about it since Friday!

So this week it’s FDs Tues and Thurs with under 1000 cals Weds and Fri. We’ll see what the scales say on Saturday. Still time to get close to April target.

    Day 18 – UAE – NFD

    Day 18 FD NZ
I realised at the end of the day I didn’t have a cauliflower to make the cauli rice I had planned to have for dinner.
Last minute change of plan led to Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds and an apple.
All up it was under my 500cals but not what I was looking forward to so it felt a little unsatisfying.
I’m looking forward to a marinated tempeh lunch tomorrow or maybe a halloumi and courgetti noodle pesto bowl…I think I’ll see what takes my fancy at lunchtime when I break the fast. This time I know I have all the necessary ingredients so I’m good either way.

    Day 18…..Florida…… FD

So, I fell through that darn hole in the wagon again. I really need to do something about that. I’m just sitting here minding my own business then swoosh, I’m on the ground again…… Damn!

So, it’s another attempt at a FD for me and to ensure the day goes as planned, I’m running to pay bills on my lunch break. I’ll eat a piece of fruit on the run.

As of late, I have found myself in a state of uggness, this is not a particularly great experience just a complex state of being worried, anxious and tired.

Okay, well, I must be off!

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy!

Day 18 Australia FD – apologies for dropping off over Easter: we were away and I must admit 5:2 was the last thing on my mind! Having a good FD today – bing extra busy at work and home certainly helps me stop thinking about food 🙂 I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. I will try to catch up with all the posts.

    Day 18, London UK, FD
    Day 17 NFD
    Day 16 NFD
    Day 15 NFD
    Day 14 NFD

Like many, I over indulged over Easter and put on 2lbs. But back on track today. I’m not too disappointed and I’m hoping it w I’ll come off as easily as it went on!

    Day 16 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 17 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 18 – CARDIFF UK – NFD

    Starting Weight : 160.8lbs

    Today’s Weight : 160.4lbs (0.4lbs)

Really not feeling a FD at the moment, too many Easter treats still around. Have managed to only gain 2lb over the weekend so hopefully will manage to maintain this even if I don’t manage to lose for the rest of this week.

I think I’ll try my first FD towards the weekend, but not too worried about it at the moment.

Hope everyone is content with the food choices they are making and good luck to all fasters.

    Day 18 lancaster pa. NFD

Couldn’t pull off the back to back. 😏 Oh well. Tomorrow then. Yesterday I sat through a luncheon and didn’t eat anything. Today I see peanut on the floor covered in a haze of lint and dust and think. That’s edible!!

    Day 18, Germany, FD

    Day 18 Maine FD

Good morning all! So hungry last night – knew fat must be burning! Down a pound finally! I’m trying for another FD today – hoping to keep in the 500-800 range.

Make it a fabulous day! We can do this!

    Day 15 NFD Melbourne, Australia
    Day 16 NFD
    Day 17 NFD
    Day 18 NFD

Struggling to get some exercise. Feel like I shouldn’t lose more weight until I get the exercise under way so I’m consciously avoiding FDs. Catch 22.

    Day 17, Mountaintop PA, FD
    Day 18, Mountaintop PA, NFD

Good to take a FD after an enjoyable family weekend. No overindulging but a slice of pizza and some cake the next day did have an effect on digestion. I simply cannot eat those foods anymore.

Took a nice 3 mile walk on Monday and will get back into the daily habit this week. Exercise helps complement all the good things Fast 5:2 does for me. Golf this afternoon with our ladies league. Every bit of outdoor activity adds up.

Down a pound this morning after the fast. Always a positive sign. I am pretty near goal at 151.7 lbs. So happy spring is bursting forth here in PA. So much green grass and yellow forsythia and daffodils. The sunny blue skies are also a plus. Wishing everybody a positive week.

    Day 18 UK. FD

    Day 18- USA- FD

    Day 17 – Montreal – NFD
    Day 18- FD

I had a bit of a binge last night, and am feeling it this morning. I’ll be fasting today and on Friday.

Day 18 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD

Day 18 FD Country West Australia

Wrote a second post yesterday/ very early post this morning ( 12.00 am) as had to get up early this morning to drive to Perth and back. However when I posted it , it disappeared into the ether!
As it was a holiday I spent a long time reading many of the posts I have missed. Phew! What a lot has been happening in people’s lives . Too much to even begin o comment individually as I had missed so many . Suffice it to say people on this forum are in my thoughts through their trials, tribulations and triumphs.

I could lie and say yesterday’s FD went OK – except for the chicken and tomato lunch , even the small serve added calories; a fig; a hot cross bun ( ‘ small half’ my DH left for me) ; curried lentil soup; veggie slice and I might have made it just over 500/600/700/800 calories.
But then along hopped a chocolate bunny needing somewhere safe to hide – so I hid him in my tummy !!! Alas even a magician couldn’t make that many calories simply vanish ! So NOT a FD.

But today travelled to Perth and back , 3 1/2 hour drive each way, for an appointment.
Had to wait 2 hours at the doc’s but even their beautiful coffee shop with all the goodies didn’t tempt me.
Well they DID tempt me but I didn’t give in and simply read the magazine I had taken with me.
March edition of ‘ Nature and Health’ and it contained an article on …. 5:2 and Fasting!!
Gave many of the benefits of fasting and the research is really stacking up for so many things – cardiovascular health, lowered BP, lowered BSL’s, weight loss, slowing the ageing process, anti-inflammatory effects etc. Even less MS symptoms in a study on mice.
It has certainly made me determined to be more consistent, even though I knew most of this already.

So even though some of us are a bit ‘hit and miss’ with this WOE, if we can gradually establish it as a WOL it can only be good.
DH just asked me if I wanted some of his Easter egg. Wrong question I answered.
Do I want some? Yes, indeed I DO!!
    Will I have some ? – No I WON’T !!

Looking forward to breaking the fast at lunchtime.

So hang in, hang on , hang out ….just don’t hang up.

    Second post.
    Hello again from Newcastle.
Back from a good walk & 13 miles on the bike.
Only 1/2 a grapefruit until just now when I could not wait any longer for my porridge. Ah well not long to wait now for dinner.

Sorry but although I cut & pasted everyone doing a FD today but did not realise I had not added myself.
Now I have come to do it have realise I dont know how to do it nor can I find out how to make everyones handle in the colour/ lovely emojis that everyone else manages to do.
Can anyone advise in a step by step method for me please?

    Day 18 USA NFD
Yesterday’s FD went well and I drank a lot of water, but could tell over night I was dehydrated and woke up with the headache. One thing I’ve learned about my body is that when I have a successful FD, exercise, but get a bit dehydrated, I will always go up on the scales. There is usually a loss later in the week, but I think my body goes into “hang on to everything” mode. So lots of water and probably a little more salt today. It surely is a learning process-I feel like my brain and body keep going on a “first date,” getting to one another again and again!🙂

    Day 18 – FIN – NFD

I have no certainty of whether or not I managed to stick to about 500 kcals yesterday, but having eaten only a late breakfast (a banana and 10 g almonds, about 150 kcals) and that barbecue lunch (marinated chicken breast and lightly seasoned vegetables) I assume I did and probably even stayed way below that limit.

I started today with a nice green smoothie (inspired by one I bought at a cafe last week; one avocado, one pear, a 10 cm piece of cucumber, a few broccoli florets, lactose free natural curd and yogurt, flax seeds, frozen mint leaves and honey) for breakfast. I tend to start the day pretty healthily, but then it usually goes downwards from there. I ended up caving in even before lunch and ate the two pieces of Swiss chocolate I’ve gotten on flights to and from the Alps last month, and after lunch I ate one Ferrero Raffaello I had left from before Lent and about 15 pieces of tar-and-salmiakki-flavored liquorice. Oh well. I see it’s pretty easy to fall into one’s old habits now that the candy ‘ban’ is off, and I tend to resort to sweets when I get too hungry. Suppose I should keep a closer eye on my hunger levels.

    Day 180-US-NFD 16:8 (weight 210.4)

Honestly, I don;t know what to believe with my scale. My home it a bit unlevel so depending on where I put the scale, it can vary 2-3 lbs!!

On my own log, I put the both the lower and higher numbers so I don’t delude myself. Just using a dress and a certain pair of pant as a measurement of any possible success/

Other than that I have my husband on board, and we are encouraging one another along.

Everyone is doing great. Just remember if you have a bad day, just pick up on the next.

    Day 18 – USA – NFD

@fordprefect, your peanut with lint thought hit my funny bone today….well said! That is the crazy stuff that goes through my head, too, haha!

    Day 18 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

You all keep me strong. I read a bunch of posts last night so I would not indulge in a night-time snack. Brushed my teeth. Read posts. I think it was the little lemon square I had with nuts and strawberries at a noon PEO meeting. Maintaining my weight is just as hard as losing was all those months ago. Wonder why.

@bert1802 – It’s so fun reading about your “uggness” but we understand.
@umka6 – how conscientious of you to record both weights due to your scale!
@hhq – we have someone from Mongolia? Lost who that is!

Okay – making my omelette for a good breakfast. Onward and downward!

    @Sqaffy420.
I’m with you on the rhubarb crumble finest pudding in the world. My wife puts fresh rhubarb into a small ramekin a little bit of sweetener some crumble mix on the top, 22 minutes in the oven small pot of ambrosia custard I’m guessing about 250 calories I have it a couple of times a week or free jelly with a scoop of half fat ice cream mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm puddings 🍨❤❤

Day 18: Gloucestershire, UK: Yet another NFD….the wagon long left me behind, I’m afraid.

Day 18, Somewhere out there, USA, NFD

Day 18, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

Hello all, still in maintenance under goal weight. Posting that because I want to encourage others that once you are able to lose the weight down to a number range that you are comfortable with, it truly is easy to stay there with moderate exercise and not too crazy (but a little crazy at times ) eating on a few days a week. The other days can become more like 800 calories or something, in my case, without the number increasing much. So freeing yet still surprising to step on the scale and expect to have somehow left the maintenance zone – probably from all the years of losing ten pounds, gaining twelve. We’ve all been there.

Wide awake at 2 or 3 o’clock the last couple of nights, rare as I normally sleep so well. A little detective work and I think I figured it out. I ran out of my turmeric complex pills last week, figured I would get some somewhere but didn’t. While ordering some this morning, I read how beneficial they are to good sleeping patterns. I had no idea that was one of the side effects – I take them mainly for joint inflammation, they truly, truly do help me in that regard. Guess they were helping me sleep as well. I also take magnesium but have still been taking it.

Love learning new things about the health and fitness world.

To your health – and fitness – all. I love to exercise and consider it a treat not a chore so I am certain that plays a big part in my success. My saving grace, I suppose.

    Day 18 FD (800 – 2d day of b2b) St. Louis USA
That rhubarb crumble sounds wonderful! Love seeing these recipes from all over. I’m getting used to these back to back on Monday and Tuesday and then another fast on Thursday. I try to work later on fast days as I think it makes it go by more quickly when I’m busy. I suppose that’s normal.

Wishing everyone well wherever you are.

    Day 18, Switzerland, FD
Easter was lovely but I’m really feeling the indulgence in sugar over the last few days. I’m 19 hours in my FD and I have been struggling with some pretty serious hunger pangs. I thought I had those well under control, but the sugar seems to have wreaked a bit of havoc with my system. Please let it be short lived havoc!!

    Day 18 – SW WA USA – FD 800

    Day 18 – Cumbria UK – FD (2nd of B2B2B?)

Managed my liquid FD yesterday but did have a small glass of my homemade Kefir before bed which allowed me to have a good night’s sleep (total under 200cals for the day)
As usual woke up not feeling hungry – that never ceases to amaze me!!!

Small glass of Kefir again this morning before going out for a walk with a friend – did about 1.5hrs up and down a low fell under a beautiful blue sky and sunshine and warm enough to only wear a light weight fleece, then a lovely cup of coffee and a chat.

Drinking plenty of water and fruit tea – not feeling hungry as yet but have a low cal spicy mixed seafood tomato/red pepper and spinach stew for dinner – OH will have a serve of brown rice with his larger serve so today will come in under 500cals for me. I thought if I popped on here to read the posts and pull together a Pocketeers List it would give me good support to see the day out……..

@ciren2 – you have every right to stay with us on this challenge – don’t give up – if you are managing to eat mindfully for the time being – so be it; if you slip up on some days – so be it – posting in daily helps to keep us accountable as you well know – Have a think as what is blocking you from doing a FD? 2nd post

Thanks @at for adding me to the pocketeers – I must admit I was a bit confused this morning. My FD today has ended up at 800 cals – completely misjudged dinner until after I had consumed it. Very tasty though.

    Day 18 – US – FD 2nd of b5b
✨Wow, our Pocketeers list is large today😊

✨I’ve been updating the spreadsheet and I feel like I am popping my head up from underground into the light of day😊 I’ve missed more recent posts which I will be able to read later. I’m still updating although here is the latest Spreadsheet for April😊 So far through the 17th. I put a ? when I couldn’t find the check in information. ✨✨Everybody is doing well.✨By checking in it shows you are going to get better results than if you did nothing at all. So everybody give yourself a big hug even for just continuing on this journey for health. 😊

@couscous ✨✨🎉Congrats✨You have lost 3lbs after 15 days!✨✨🎉you had 6 FD’s😊 I can’t think of any other plan that you could do that with.😊Just think about it 🤔 What if you lost 3lbs every 15 days? That would be pretty good. ✨🌈🕊✨If you can keep it up I think it will be worth it.😊If you like you can check that your TDEE is based on your goal weight. ✨Thanks for checking in.✨😊Keep on, Keeping on!✨
@obesa Thank-you for checking in and for the information about the photograph of your garden. I will try to find it. To bad we cant share photos through the 5:2 plan😊🌷😂
@steffieagle Glad to see you settling in to mountain life😊You are sooo close to your goal for the month! Congrats on the weight loss this month!✨✨🎉
    @chris274 Thank-you for checking in! Have a great week!😊

✨The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another. – William James

✨@at You are a lighthouse in a storm, Thanks for being a wonderful light for our group!😊🌈🕊

Day 15 Seattle, WA NFD Had a lovely seafood lunch – mostly fried but I’ll be within TDEE today as this is my main meal.
Day 16 Seattle WA NFD Easter Sunday with West Coast family. I’m the cook today- lean pork loin with lingonberry jam, Cauliflower mashed, green beans, and for dessert cupcakes.
Day 17 Florida USA NFD Travel day so some wacky eating, no way around it!
Day 18 Florida USA FD I’m glad to be home and in my Tuesday/Friday FD mode. Breakfast was 7/8 th of my calories for the day. It’ll be just salad for dinner and nothing in between. I want to meet my goal this month so I’m drawing on the strength of all of us!

Just checking in to check out for a while. Thanks @okeydokey for all the work you are doing but please count me out for a while. Life has become all too real for me lately (a former student died ten days ago at the age of 24 and then my father in law passed away suddenly of a heart attack just three hours before we were supposed to visit him for Easter dinner).

I will continue 5:2 on my own but I don’t have the desire to continue logging in every day. Not for now. I may come back in a month or two.

Continue to support each other in the wonderful way that you do. Take care of yourselves and enjoy every moment that you have.

Sending you my love, Orpheusx (Daniel B)

    Day 19 NZ NFD

    U.K. Evesham Day 17 227lb down 1lb

Thanks for all the work @okeydokey

Good luck with your week folks X

    Day 18 – NFD – Canada
Back from hols. They were stressful but ‘right’, and I’m glad to have made the effort. @okeydokey all my days since last check-in were NFDs.
Planning a b2b this week for Wed & Thurs. If there is a pocket list please add me!

Day 18 – East Coast Canada – NFD
    Day 17 – FD
    Day 16 – NFD
    Day 15 – NFD
    Day 14 – NFD
    Day 13 – NFD
    Day 12 – NFD
Boy, I’ve missed a lot – the sun came out, the air warmed up and I donned my running shoes (I am not fooled by the weather though!). My running buddy has decided to join me in this WOE 🙂 she keeps remarking on how much sense this makes and how uncomplicated it seems. I am glad to be back on-line with this great group!

    2nd Post Day 18 – US – FD 2nd of b5b

@orpheusx I understand, it’s very upsetting and difficult when our loved ones die. May you find peace in the difficult time. 🕊✨When you are ready we will still be here. I can understand that you don’t have the time or energy to log in daily. If you want we will be here if you want to update us how you are doing emotionally and mentally. Blessings and Peace be with You✨🕊
@stone176055 If someone on the group hasn’t lost weight. I’ve noticed a few reasons; 1) Their TDEE has not been calculated for their goal weight. 2) They need to have at least 2 FD’s at the 36 hours each FD during a week. 3 if your really serious about losing weight. Drinking plenty of water. 3) The types of food mostly eaten on NFD’s needs to be healthy nutritious, low or no carb. 4) FD’s need to be under 500 cals.😊 I hope this helps. Probiotics and Kefir help digestion in the gut to lose weight faster.😊Thanks for asking questions, please ask more when you have more.
