  • Day 17 – FIN – FD

I’ve decided to stick to my usual FD schedule despite today being a holiday, as I don’t yet feel confident enough to combine fasting with a 1Β½ hour dance class (tomorrow). We’ve got some grilling planned for today, so suppose I’ll have to plan a little what I can and can’t eat then.

Yesterday I finally got to sate my sweet tooth after about 6 weeks of Lent. I did end up eating an entire bag of sweets (330 g), but I actually managed to space it out and not eat the whole thing in one go like I usually do (and then feel sick afterwards from the sugar overload). I did once again notice that my stomach didn’t really agree with the candy, though. I also noticed that I found the banana pancakes (served with coconut flakes, honey and blueberries) I made for breakfast and the (no-flour) curd cake we had for dessert after dinner a lot more delicious than those sweets.
I now plan on sticking to only eating sweets on Sundays so that I’m able to reset my body with a fast the following day instead of freely eating up to 4 jumbo bags of candy throughout the week (no wonder I’ve had skin problems and my weight’s crept up).

Day 17 – USA (Illinois – home now) – NFD

Very glad to be home and find all normal here. Glad I didn’t miss all the tulips and daffodils blooming. Also, very happy to get on my own scale this morning and right on 160# – my maintenance weight. So I’ve made it through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and now Easter. Yeah! Just what I wanted. Now it will be spring and summer clothes that go to Salvation Army due to being too big. Oh how I love buying new clothes.

@lindasue – I know what you mean about church dinners! Very proud of you for being strong with little Stephanie’s pretty dessert. Your OH will just have to admire your strength!

    Onward and downward!

    Day 17 USA FD
Jumping on the fast train today. It was a beautiful Easter with time spent with friends, church, a meal together, but more food than I am used to eating, so I feel over full. Did not do the sugar thing, but more carbs than I am used to eating. So I am looking forward to a day of simple eating and I teach 3 classes today (two Nia, which is a type of cardio dance, and yoga). Even as a teacher, the day after a big holiday is tricky. Some people come in and want to work off a weekend of sugar and brunch in a one hour class, some feel and look hung over from the overdo, and some try to bring left over Easter candy to the studio! Someone last year asked me to throw out her excess candy, saying she couldn’t do it … so I did. The Montessori School kids across the hall from my studio couldn’t believe this was happeningπŸ˜€.

Have a good FD and NFD everyone!

I’m very Glad to be joining the Pocketeers today and through Friday. 😊Hold on to my 🀚 hand. Together we make a strong chain of support.✨Getting through the first FD may be tough but it’s worth it!!!✨✨✨✨✨✨Together We are Stronger!✨✨✨

Day 17: Gloucestershire, UK: Another NFD
I really don’t know why I am still on this forum after no fast-days since early in March.
I suppose it’s a case of hope over experience.
Back to work tomorrow after a bank holiday Monday….so…maybe….
Meanwhile, I’ll try to stay “controlled”.

    Day 15, NFD, USA
    Day 16, NFD, USA
    Day 17, FD
I may have neglected to post this weekend, as the spring weather here in New England was intoxicating. Two weeks ago we had snow on a Sunday and yesterday was 80 degrees and blue skies. Very fitting for the joyous, Easter celebration. We need to experience those gray days to really savor the sunshine.
i enjoyed reading all of the sharing, struggles and triumphs here in our safe community. Whether you are religious or not and celebrate the meaning of the season of Easter, we are all living it — in our own crosses we have to bear each day. For all of you “MOMMY WARRIORS,” I applaud you. I, too, am a warrior for my children — I will try and be brief, but when i fought doctors day and night to find what was wrong with my little girl who was always hurting, they said “anxiety’ or emotional issues. (Yeah, right.) I’ll spare details and may share more at a later date, but after years of seeking out doctors who couldn’t help her, I found a kind “functional practioner” who is helping her and am so pleased that she has been doing sooo well. (without added sugar, processed foods and dairy in her diet and lots of added wonderful supplements); she’s thriving. I think when we are dealt these things in life, “by the Grace of God we put on our armour and move on.” And all of those horrible days watching her suffer and feeling so helpless are worth it — just seeing her happy and healthy ten year old self shining now is priceless. Yes, some can’t handle it, but for all of us who are carrying heavy crosses, remember we are not alone. Friends, family, faith get us through. (I used to have food on that list, but lowered it … slightly. Peace)

Fatrabbit — hugs to you; you have such heart; we feel you.

LindaSue: I related to your post. Yesterday I was surrounded by Easter dessert and sugary temptations and I didn’t give in; I had my lovely dinner and enjoyed a little bit of everything and really enjoyed everyone’s company, but I looked at the mounds o desserts and my husband with his plate filled with pies and cookies and I didn’t feel tempted at all. Rather I felt really content going to bed and this morning. I do enjoy squares of dark chocolate here and there and a nice thick slice of bread or croissant, but passing on that huge dessert table yesterday really did feel empowering. Later, I had a lovely vanilla chia pudding (with Stevia) and enjoyed every spoonful. I do believe IF trains out bodies to crave healthy things — or rather, what it really needs and wants.

Having said that, I still have a hearty 8 pounds or so to go to get my foot (or leg) into my happy weight (120’s), so I’m with you BERT. Strict week is in order.

    Day 17- US- FD

I just started a 30-day green smoothie cleanse. I will still be following the 5:2. Two smoothies a day plus snacks and one meal on NFD. One smoothie and a 500 meal on FD’s.

I need to detox a bit and get my skin cleared up. The eczema on my face is becoming more and more annoying.

    Day 17 – USA – NFD

Had a very nice Easter day: church, watching those old 1950s Easter movies with OH and lots of food. He has been tailoring the menu with low carb choices for me, which I so appreciate. We ate all day: shrimp tray, then later on a veggie tray, later on a fantastic ham with sweet potatoes and broccoli. Still way over TDEE when I added the alcohol throughout the day and evening, but still enjoyed it. Now it’s back to CDs!

I feel so privileged to read about the personal struggles that some of you have shared with such open and honest hearts; I’m a more private person and I admire the candor on this forum and will always cherish your confidences.

Day 17, Rocky Mountains, US, CD

    Hello everyone,

Well the FD day yesterday did it and @okeydokey I am back to 124.6, below my April target weight of 125. Today I will fast until mid afternoon, then will have a little chicken and asparagus followed by strawberries. Will also drink as much as possible. 6PM off to airport. 9PM off to Amsterdam, more than 2 hours there to catch my plane to Vienna. I will try not to eat the food on the plane. Normally I do not eat during the night. But there is always boredom….I have nuts in my backpack, paleo bars and water. Will see…I gave good intentions and have to think how miserable I feel if I eat the wrong food.
Will try and stay in touch. The days will all be NFDs but mindful. I will try to find a pharmacy to weigh at the end of the month.

Good luck everyone!!! I am very glad being a part of this wonderful international and very inspiring group!

    Day 17- USA- FD

    Day 17 UK FD

    Day 17, Germany, NFD

    second post.
Well, I could lie and say that I had a good FD but am here to say that my FD morphed into a controlled ( sort of ) NFD.
Perhaps it was the aroma of the half hot crossie that my DH had left on the plate for me – the ‘ smaller ‘ half! Or the chicken and tomato lunch ( very small serve) or the lentil soup or the veggie slice …. I wasn’t planning on eating ANY of them but I did. Realised fairly early on that I was headed over 500, 600, 800 calories so decided it was a NFD.
Then just as I thought it wasn’t so bad, a chocolate rabbit hopped on to the table and said he needed to hide really quickly. The only safe place I could think of where he wouldn’t be found was my stomach – so I ate him. He was delicious and no-one will ever see him again so he is quite safe!!!
Tomorrow should be a FD but we have to get up at 5 am ( in just a few hours) drive to Perth for an appointment and then drive back home for me to start work early Wednesday.
Three and a half to four hour trip each way so may or may not be successful at fasting!
Spent a few hours today catching up on posts. Whew!! What a lot is happening/ has happened in people’s lives.
Can’t begin to comment as there is so much. Just glad to be on this forum and thinking of all of you one way or another.

    2nd Post πŸ•ŠDay 17 – US – FD πŸ•ŠπŸŒˆ

I’m so thankful to have our wonderful American Staffordshire named Sweetie. Our puppy dog (πŸ˜…2.5 years) she sits next to me and follows me and @fordprefect where ever we go. As of late the twins and I have noticed that she won’t eat on some of the days I’m fasting. The twins will feed her as usual but she’ll refuse to eat until she hears or sees me get something out of the kitchen to eat. Evidently today is one of those days. Maybe Sweetie is choosing to maintain her strong toned muscular figure through the 5:2 plan.😊

@sirisan πŸ₯‚Happy (belated) Birthday 🎈 πŸŒˆπŸ•ŠWishing you a Happy Peaceful year to come this year.βœ¨πŸ•Š
@redrockgirl302 You did it! Back below your April goal weight at 124.6lbs. I’ll record it as well as your upcoming NFD’s in the spreadsheet. Have a great time in Vienna, I see you have the keys and skills to maintaining. So have some fun also! βœ¨πŸ•ŠSafe Travels to you!βœ¨πŸ•ŠπŸ˜Š
@fatrabbit Wow, you are an excellent role model for your son. I know how hard that can be. It is worth it. I became more aware just how much of an example I am and @fordprefect is when our daughter (who has very distressing physical reactions to sugar or sugar alcohols that you find in artificial sweeteners) started eating less and more veggies when we were on FD’s. She told me that I was a good example for her and that she looks up to me.✨ It makes me feel good😊✨
@flourbaby Thanks for putting all our remarks together about how stuck and yucky we felt after eating carbs and simple sugars.✨I’ll copy it into my notes as a reminder … hopefully I will choose to read it and remember before I go there again.
@at Very understandable, you are not alone. We’re going through the yucky stuck feeling together. The water, tea with a dash of skimmed milk, or in my case unsweetened coconut milk, sounds great to me.✨Thank-you so much for the compliments to @fatrabbit @annette52 and myself. It means the world to me.πŸ•ŠπŸŒˆπŸ•Š

Day 17 – SW WA USA – FD

Adding myself. Enjoyed some extras yesterday but interesting how a little filled me up. Some things are put away for another time. Made it to the gym this morning for a gentle workout. I’m still on the mend from an injury that began last June. I even included a modified version of Dr. Mercola’s Peak 8 (interval work out) on the stationary bike; similar to HIT

What wonderful support I see among folks struggling with different issues! This is truly a support group. Having support on the things that matter to us, makes it easier to accomplish taking care of the body.

@fatrabbit βœ¨βœ¨πŸŽ‰Congratulations on the 5lb weight loss mid month!! ✨Your doing great!✨Keep it up! And the weight will go down!😊✨sorry to hear about the cake debacle… we would do that with our daughter trying to stop her from hurting herself. After 3 up and rocky years of that we just stopped having it around the house. We have a locked closet of things with sugar products because our son can eat it if he will. He has the opposite problem. We keep protein bars for him in the closet and some chocolate for him, myself and @fordprefect. I was surprised how so many “healthy” foods have the “poisonous” sugar that is deadly for our daughter. I’m proud as well as my daughter is proud to say thatβœ¨βœ¨βœ¨πŸŽ‰ on May 1 it will be 2 years of no sugar for Ju. ✨✨✨She couldn’t have made the healthy choices for herself, we as parents had to make them for her. Now she will choose no sugar on her own so as not to go through the deadly reactions. Now we have to figure out away to get her to play and exercise more.✨😊

    Day 17 – UK – FD

    Current weight: 94 KG
Goal weight: 91 KG (If I’m lucky :P)

So it was my first fast day today, and surprisingly, I feel great!!! I started the day out with scrambled eggs on dark rye ryvita (2 eggs, 60ml semi skimmed milk, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce) and went through till dinner time which was half a packet of Singapore noodles. I always get full fast with carbs so couldn’t finish the noodles but snacked on some cherry tomatoes to make up for the calories. I avoided exercise today as I played golf yesterday (furthest thing from a pro) and managed to pull my neck muscles but I’ll definitely make the effort to exercise on my next fast day πŸ™‚

Feel great today, drank lots of water and green tea, but boy oh boy am I look forward to my NFD (feast day) tomorrow!!!

    Day 16
    Newcastle
    NFD
Hope everyone had a great Easter however you have chosen to spend it.

Not a FD but is my weigh in day so down to 66kgs today.
However realised we need a better set of scales as to see the dial need to squat down then the arrow moves all over !!!
New ones winging their way as we speak.

Using ‘@….breath’s’ tag quite a lot these last few days because of the ‘in law’, trying to stop me from exploding.
The ‘in law’ has real issue with food which is eaten pretty much every 2 hours thro the day & 4 hrly thro the night!!
Managed to not hear the ‘in law’ get up to eat last night due to me finding some ear plugs which I was hoping would be the first night undisturbed sleep since arrival but was woken up instead by the smell of ‘food’ being done at about 4 am.
Dont think I can manage a nose clip as well so will have to put up with it.

Tomorrow is a FD so that should be a test when all that ‘food’ is being consumed in full view.
One thing the ‘in law’ is having an effect on is that it is making me think twice before putting anything in my mouth.
Alway a silver lining as they say.
Good luck others if tomorrow is your FD.

    Day 17 / UK / NFD
    Day 18 / UK / FD

Hi everyone, I’m back from a fabulous weekend in London! It was as perfect as it could have been given the circumstances and I even left 300g there–not to be expected at all after the foodie weekend I had with the sister (she lost too, yay!). I tagged a little NFD at the end to get rid of as many of the Easter eggs as possible (unsuccessfully, but they will now go out of my room and into the kitchen two floors down). A lot less walking today though, so the scales may be a little more indignant tomorrow morning. So be it: I’ll have Tue and Wed FD, my customary CD on Thu as well as Fri (it will be a FD with social obligations scheduled for the evening; basically both FDs with as little snacking as I can make it).

It’s been a weekend of new beginnings and it feels good: newly acquired clothes fit well in smaller sizes and today I learned the joy of rest days: with the body off the exercise for a few days it didn’t get weaker, instead I could feel my new strength properly for the first time.

A good start, everyone, into a four-day working week!

    @okeydokey
    Mid-month stats:
    Starting weight (1 April): 65.6kg
Goal weight (1 May): 62.5-63kg (loss roughly in the 2.5 to 3kg range)
Mid-April (17 April): 63.5kg (only 0.5-1kg to go for this month, yay! How far can I already get ahead on May’s goal weight?)
    Thank you!

Day 17, Bird-Watching in my backyard, USA, FD

Hi all day 17 UK co down nfd

I spent most of the day in the garden pulling weeds and cutting edges and planted a few shrubs and my back is so so sore! Didn’t notice until after sitting down I went to get up and couldn’t lol but no damage just muscle soreness. Back to work tomorrow and into my normal fast day routine. Also able to increase water intake again as the loo is close to hand.

    Day 17 FD Portugal
Felt good to fast today. Will continue tomorrow as I did so well today.

Day 17, Cumbria UK , FD
    Day 18 Cumbria UK , 800 bsd

    Day 18 – Tokyo Japan – NFD 78.0kg

My FD turned out to much easier than I expected. In general the FDs are getting easier. Maybe there is some adaption that has occurred.

It was really nice to be included in the Pocketeers. Between work and being a bit sick I’ve been out of it here. However the sun comes up and it is another day!

Pocketeers you are over the hump and getting choose to the goal!

17–MA, USA–FD. My goal is to make Tues, Wed, and Thursday fast days, too. May try 800 calories per day to make the long stretch a little more manageable. The past few days were rough and I’ve felt guilty about overdoing it. I’m visiting family for a few days, and while it’s lovely to have free time with family, there are also a lot more temptations than during a regular work week. Today was ok, but not the easiest, and I nearly caved a few times. But, so far, I’ve made it. 9:30 p.m. here, and as long as I can avoid the Easter chocolate and just go to sleep, I’ll be happy!

@cleo120 – Good luck and best of wishes with your plan. Just keep in mind it doesn’t have to be a race. Many of us (including myself) have to figure out not just how to lose the fat but also maintain the loss. Still I understand the urge to make progress.

    Croatia Day 18 NFD
    Weight: 79.5 Kg

Hi again. I have really fallen off the wagon this month. I check in to read whats happening but not as much as I should. I am really struggling with fast days. Meanwhile I will just watch the progress you are all making.

    Day 18 UK FD800

I don’t deserve it but my weight is down to 194.4 lbs this morning. Bodies are so fickle. In March I did everything right and lost nothing, this month I keep slipping and am still losing! I think that mind set and stress hormones might well be responsible. It felt really good to talk about eldest son as if a damm has been released. I had a long talk to my sister about him yesterday too. The fast day yesterday went really well, the pocket list helped, when I started to waver I thought about it and rode the wave out and moved past it. I had only one small meal and so was probably under 500. I am going to stick with the BSD, at least for a bit longer. But I am guiding younger son to ADF to start with. I am not confident enough that he will.eat well enough on the BSD until I can find more that he will eat. He liked the shakes but I am not particularly happy about them being his mainnsource of nutrition. I need to do more research and see what he is willing to try to eat. So far he is being remarkably compliant, a word never before associated with him. The main difficulty is his sleep pattern. He fell asleep at midnight on Sunday which could have corrected everything but instead woke at 4am stayed up until 9am and then slept all day. By the time he got up again I was flagging badly as the carbs left me with greatly reduced energy levels and a headache. I will find out later if he managed to stick to his fast last night.

@okeydokey you really have your work cut out for you with your daughter as well. I am glad to hear she is making progress. Being a parent has to be the most difficult job ever. It never stops and there are so many ways to mess it up. I am so angry with myself for letting ys drink so much orange juice. I thought it was good for him, making up for the food he couldn’t tolerate. Something so simple has made an enormous impact on his life by messing up his metabolism and rotting his teeth. His brothers drank milk and neither of them have weight problems, in fact eldest is underweight as it is hard to get him to sit down and eat and when he does he can’t coordinate eating implements well. When not allowed to use his hands he gets frustrated and gives up.

Had too much on Easter Break, hope didn’t put on too much.

    Day 18 UK FD 🌈

So looking forward to this FD. Had a lovely weekend of family stufff to do, however we like to treat ourselves a lot, slice of cake here and there and of course the chocolate, 2 meals a day, but the added snacks have made me feel permanently full. Now to draw a line under it. Give this little rounded belly a rest.

Back to work today so keeping busy. Have a light lunch booked today then going to do a 24 hour fluid only detox. I need it. Lots of water.

Going to do my two FDs today and tommorrow and Fri and Sat this week, hopefully two reset days and two weight loss days. Day 18 still time to make a difference this month.

Have a good day all xxx

    Day 18 Newcastle UK NFD.
Glad to get back to a fasting day yesterday two more this week Wed & Fri hopefully that will compensate for the lack of willpower Saturday night and Easter Sunday. Frost here in Newcastle hoping it hasn’t damaged the blossoms on the fruit trees up the allotment cherry plum & pear always seen to suffer.
    Good luck everyone.

    Day 18, Germany, FD

Skipping two fast days and one working out session it seems I gained something around 1 kilogram!!! So surely today is a fast day for me.

    Day 14 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 15 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 16 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 17 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 18 – London, UK – FD

I hope everyone had a good Easter break! I had a bit of chocolate but didn’t go mad and I also got a lot of walking in.

Weighed in today and am only down 0.4kg from the start of the month. Better than going up, but a bit disappointing for the effort I’ve put in!

Keep on going and I’ll try to up the exercise this week :/

    Day 15, Belfast, NFD
    Day 16, Belfast, NFD
    Day 17, Belfast, NFD
    Day 18, Belfast, NFD
I can’t believe I didn’t have time to post over the last 4 days! Such a busy weekend with birthdays and Easter….big family get togethers all over the place. I’m off all week on holidays so although I’m not fasting today and will try and organise a very low cal dinner. Perhaps a nice healthy dhal. I went off meat and all buns, chocolate and crisps for Lent. I had gotten into the habit of buying a choc bar nearly every afternoon in work so I’m hoping that’s been knocked on the head, big time. I’m also hoping to stay meat free during Monday to Fridays too. Feeling a bit guilty about not properly 5:2ing it this week, but if I can get big walks and small meals I’m hoping to maintain the weight lost. Good luck everyone today 😎

Hi everyone. I am a kiwi too but currently living in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This is my first fast day 18th April and I accidentally used all my calories for lunch lol. I am going to do tomorrow as well only because I have social things on the rest of the week (which is how I put on so much weight in Mongolia!). Hope it is okay to do consecutive days. Cheers and hi everyone πŸ™‚
