  • Day 13 UK FD

Had a big oops yesterday. I shouldn’t have bought any Easter treats as I still can’t be trusted with them:( Not chocolate but sesame snaps and peanut bars:(( Note to self buy things you don’t like for other people at these times. I was already wavering before the shopping arrived anyway annd had had an early lunch. I think it may be time to swap back to ADF. The BSD is possibly a bit much.
I don’t deserve it but I still lost weight overnight. Down to 89kg. I did deserve the headache last night and the bad night however.

    Day 13 Melbourne NFD
Have fallen off the wagon a little – still running alongside and hope to hop back on fully, soon. Very complex and stressful project has been happening for a few weeks at work, with things going wrong and workdays going on into the night. The exhaustion of it weakens the inner resources needed to maintain constant dietary vigilance… Have managed to stay on 16:8 so that is something.

    Day 13, Newcastle UK, FD

Yippeeeee – another fast day under my belt and a sneaky weigh in this morning shows my lowest weight to date 135.8lbs. Four hours of non-stop Ceroc last night was not just a great distraction for the evening but obviously burned some extra energy. We have a 3 day Ceroc weekend starting tomorrow with dances each evening. OH and I will attend 3 classes on Saturday and at least the Saturday night dance if not more.

@coda – good to hear from you and thanks for the much needed injection of realism. I promise not to whinge again when I have a blip.
@debster – you’re welcome:-) – enjoy your Easter trip – sounds like you are in control.
@scs – you’re job sounds exciting – never a dull moment no doubt. Bet you could give us some funny stories as you’ll get to meet all sorts of folks.
Thanks @umka6 and @bert1802 for your recipes – as I like experimenting I think they’re both on the cards…
@lindasue and @redrockgirl302 – congratulations on maintaining and reaching goal – have a super holiday @RRG.
    @mulville – Go for it!!
@skinnylove and @goldensun – having gone through a very traumatic break-up not so long ago I feel for you both. All I can say again is time heals. I hope your situation resolves itself @goldensun. I too am an advocate of counselling. Anything that might help is worth trying.
@happyslim & @lilymartin – you both sound like you’ve got things under control.
@bluenijamum – that sounds like a sensible plan to stay on track whilst taking care of yourself. All the best.
@luna09 – forgot to say – a low fat cottage is very low in calories, filling and provides protein. Can be blended to provide another tasty dip.
@okeydokey – Thanks for your words of support – it’s been a good week. And yes, I have indeed thought about offering to lead one of our month’s challenges. Being realistic I am thinking about the back end of the year when my gardening work has finished and I have my Dad settled into his new bungalow – having overseen an awful lot of refurb work – not to mention the jungle garden! OH is having a knee replacement in August and will not be in any position to do the housework whilst I am out at work! How dare he?! 🙂 Being a regular insomniac, currently on happy pills, I am being sensible and curbing my lifelong habit of impetuosity, as the last thing I want to do is let anybody down. However, I commit to leading a month and will be better able to say which one after OH’s operation. I have had so much support from this forum that I definitely want to repay the kindness.

All the best to my fellow B2Bers and everyone else, where ever your journey takes you today. Now I’d better get dressed and off to my Dad’s – got to keep his garden tidy for the new owners.

    Day 13 UK NFD

    Day 12 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 13 – London, UK – FD

Well the good news is that my mum has lost weight!

She was weighed on the doctor’s scales and our ones might be different, but from the doctor’s result she’s lost about 3kg. Either way, she’s doing really well not snacking and stuff, so hopefully her weight will go down and her blood results will be better.

I was feeling just about well enough to go to boxing yesterday and that was ok. Hoping I’ll be able to run over the weekend and maybe go to a couple of classes at the gym, I just wish this cough/cold would go away!

I’m hoping I can focus more this FD and get plenty of work done so I can enjoy the long weekend.

Day 13, London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B)

I hope my fellow pocketeers are keeping the faith, this is the last day for a few of us but I won’t forget you – @bert1802, @okeydokey & @redrockgirl302, you’ll still be in my pocket………………particularly during my 1st hot cross bun, buttered to within an inch of its life, scheduled for about 11am tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will follow a 16:8 routine and hopefully and come back with a vengeance.
    @snowflake your story is inspiring!
Welcome back @goldensun. We are your parachute to catch you when you fall. Take care. Xo
@minnygirl your elephant post made me laugh!
@okeydokey you’re doing an amazing job!
Will be out of Wifi for the next few days, so my Fasting Friends, Easter blessings to you all.

    Day 13 UK. NFD

My FD yesterday didn’t quite work out as I had a tummy upset, then felt so weak, then ate 2 beef burgers to recuperate, then another two beef burgers, then felt exhausted, then went to bed early. It was like flu, with food.

Hey @debster. 12th April edition out yesterday.

Are you going somewhere nice ?

    Day 13 – Switzerland – NFD

So much happening to our global community, bruising both emotional and physical ( @bert1802 – what was going on with that massage chair?!), recovery, therapy, healing. Wishing lots of positive energy to everyone who needs it at the moment, especially @snowflake56, @mulville, @skinnylove, @goldensun, @at 🌺🌻🌸🌼

We’re off to the Northumbrian coast on Saturday – the weather here has been sunny and warm, up to 18C yesterday, but the forecast for the NE is not good – rain and 9C max! Will think of @couscous, @strawberriesandcream, @annnursekirk and of course @steve-toon-taxi-driver when we land in Newcastle!

    Day 13……Florida….. FD

One more day, one more day……. I only have to make it through today then I’m off of work for three whole days. I feel like I haven’t stopped in weeks! Looking forward to sleeping in, relaxing and not doing anything.
    LynZ…… I’m right there with you……

GoldenSun…… Welcome home…….. sending positive vibes and hugs your way. When my OH, first got married, I felt as if every little disagreement, fight etc., would send us spiraling out of control. I would think the worst and believe the divorce court was our next stop. But good news, 20 years in we are still here, still going strong and still as much in love as the day we said I do. Why, because we finally learned to be together, learned to live together and finally know each other. In all honesty, you never really know anyone until you live with someone. 20 years later, we just communicate really loud sometimes, but kiss and say I love you as we tuck into bed and move forward with our lives. Time will heal a majority of your fears and doubts, my friend.
My husband always says…… A perfect relationship is two imperfect people refusing to give up on each other.
Also, both my OH and I are Type A personalities, strong willed and bull headed. When one of us thinks we are right, we stay strong in our beliefs! In the beginning of our relationship, I did read and research a lot on personality types. It’s not a perfect science but it may help to read it up on it a bit. I learned a lot about myself reading them.

Well, I must be off. I woke up 15 min later then usual, so time and I are on opposite lines today!

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy as your travel through your day!

Hi Steve toon, just a thought on you recently asking about diet books. Have you had a look on the BBC Good Food site?. They have some very good low cal recipes that may help. I can recommend the Mediterranean Vegetables with Lamb which comes in at around 197 cals per portion. I make it with a can of cherry tomatoes, very tasty and you can pad it out with a bit of mash to make it more substantial.
    Good luck.

    Day 13 Maine FD

Good morning all! I survived my first day! Hoping to be back in reservations for a little computer renewal, I wore “sit down” shoes. Should have known better – right out to front desk! And, it was crazy busy – kept thinking I had confused April with August – prime season. Can see why they begged me to come back early! So, other than my feet killing me, I was not totally wiped out!! I really think the 5/2 has helped my energy level! Wearing my sneakers today!

I have a bad habit of needing something crunchy to eat as soon as I walk in the door from work. Thought I’d be better than that, but grabbed a bag of wheat pretzels & devoured 1/3 of the bag. Not accompanied by alcohol, so that’s an improvement. Any suggestions for crunchy, satisfying food w/o a lot of calories! We’re doing our big Easter shopping tonight – family coming for brunch – maybe I can find some individual portion size snacks – that might help. I really tried to ignore craving – but, gave in. Airpopped popcorn would have worked, but saw the pretzels first. Today is a fast day, so “kitchen is closed” today. We’re going out for a big salad before shopping.

@strawberriesandcream – yes, I have great stories. I left for 6 years to work in an insurance agency – hated it – too boring & my brother begged me to go back to the resort – he missed the “hotel stories”! It is never boring & time goes by in a blink.

Safe travels everyone – have a fabulous weekend!

    Make it a great day!

Hi And…exhale. Northumbria is a fantastic place to visit. It also has Keilder which is a designated world dark area, superb for star gazing. Just down the A1 is Durham of course with the Cathederal amongst other things. Just not enough space on the whole of this forum to praise Northumbria, visit Newcastle, by taxi of course, you may get picked up by Steve himself.
    Enjoy and good luck.

@obesa thanks. Will look out for it.
We are going to Kilkenny, south of the border and a beautiful medieval city.

@couscous I totally agree. Northumbria is a stunning place of the world. Dont forget Hadrian’s wall, Alnwick and Banburgh castle, Lindisfarne…. @and…Exhale have a wonderful time!

    Day 12 – USA – NFD

    Day 13 – USA – FD

    Day 13,USA,Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Hello all, off for a day with friends. Still on track with maintenance, seems to be staying in the low 140s, below my goal weight of 145.

Be good to yourself and remember an orange tastes better than a candy bar !

    DAY 12 UK ….NFD

I had a great FD yesterday which showed a 2lbs loss this morning !

I don’t usually weigh mid week but needed to check if I’d actually lost anything after yesterday’s mainly liquid diet.

Hoping to do another 2 before weigh in on Monday.

    Day 13 Lancaster pa. FD.

    Day 13 – UAE – FD (B4B)

    Day 13 – US – FD 7:49 AM
I made it through another FD😊 I want to read more than 2 posts and I will.✨ I will also work on the spreadsheet so I can have up till Thursdays info put in and I will share the link on Friday. When the people who want to weigh in on Saturday, Weigh in, I will update it again and put a new link out to share with the group.✨✨.😊✨✨
Last night I forgot to take my warm lemon water. At 12:17 AM I realized I wasn’t going to sleep. I was too tired to get up to make it and unable to sleep. I did however find a link online about acupressure points to help with insomnia. Within 15 minutes it worked.😊 I will share the link in case anybody else here finds themselves in a similar situation. I hope it is helpful for someone else also.

@flourbaby ✨✨Thank-you for keeping the Pocket List going! It means so much! ✨✨Let’s Go Pocketeers!✨✨We Got This✨✨
✨✨Together we are Stronger✨✨Have you already been a host for the group? @flourbaby you would be a great host!✨😊✨
@debster251 Thank-you for the compliment. I’m trying my best. Our Group is a joy and I enjoy helping to keep it going.😊Have a Happy Holiday. We’ll be here when you get back.
@strawberriesandcream You would be a good leader. I’m glad you feel the importance of keeping our Group going as do I.😊 Although knee surgery is difficult @fordprefect had to have it done back in his college days. He played football for West Virginia University. It takes a lot longer to heal than most people think. Basically because of all the physical therapy afterwards. I wish your OH well and hope everything goes well.😊 I guess you’ll know better after September. My knee has been out for almost a year. Brocken Tibia at the knee. I’m just starting to be able to walk around our circle in the neighborhood. If it wasn’t for our children (we give them an allowance) We would have had to get a housekeeper.

    ✨✨Stay Strong Today! ✨✨
    ✨✨Together we are Stronger✨✨
✨✨Remember all the health benefits of FD’s AND NFD CD’s ✨✨
    ✨✨You are Stronger than you 💭 think.✨✨

Day 13, the land of ice and snow, USA. NFD. I made it through a tough FD yesterday. It’s funny how some FD’s are easy and some are so much harder. But…I did it, and down another pound too!!!

    Happy fasting!!!

    2nd Post Day 13 – US – FD
@strawberriesandcream I meant to ask, What is Ceroc? A 💃 dance? It sounds like fun!✨
@minnygirl Congrats! You are on a roll. Pretty awesome to find out your lost a lb in 1 day. I’m fasting through Friday and I will weigh myself Saturday morning. I hope I have as good results as you have.✨✨Stay Strong and like you said,
    ✨✨✨✨✨✨Happy Fasting!😊✨✨

    Day 13 – USA – NFD

Fast day went very well yesterday, under 500 cals. I haven’t been hungry for well over a week or so since I started leaning more towards LCHF, but have had loads of fun researching recipes and making them (pizza, crackers, “fat bombs”). Since my weight was the same last week as the week before (183), I decided this morning to slip the measuring tape around myself to see whether I am truly losing; lo and behold, I’m losing some serious inches…but I was in a hurry, so I did not write it down. Probably a total of 2-3 all over, which is a success for me, seeing that I started on 1/7/17. I think the best thing overall on 5:2 is that my bp has lowered to the point that I adjusted the meds all the way to nothing, carefully taking my bp a few times a day to make sure I’m below normal. I tried to tell my daughter and niece about 5:2, but it falls on deaf ears. They’re just going to have to read about it soon enough here in the States; it’s not a “fad diet”…it’s a serious attempt at being healthy.

    Day 13 USA NFD

Day 13 – USA (Utah, visiting) -NFD

Did very well yesterday especially skipping breakfast. Might try that again today. We have colored Easter eggs the granddaughters did before they went to their dad’s for the weekend, so maybe I will make some egg salad to have for lunch.

@minnygirl -we had about 3-4″ of snow here in Salt Lake City UT Friday night into Saturday, but it melted by the afternoon. Some minor freeze damage to some plants, but not bad. You’re still suffering with snow, eh? Not fun in April.

    Onward and downward, everyone!

    @and… exhale.
If you need an expensive taxi I’m your man but book quickly today I have my sex change opp so tomorrow I’ll be your woman 😜
Fabulous county Northumberland ! 68 miles of breathtakingly beautiful coastline. Least populated county in England more castles and fortifications than any other County. Great places to visit cragside home of Lord Armstrong first house to be lit by hydroelectricity Wallington Hall Gardens designed by capability Brown Belsay Hall the Roman wall Kielder Forest with the largest man-made lake in Europe 26 miles around if you fancy a short run lol. My favourite castles Bamburgh Castle Alnwick Castle Chillingham Castle. For me the finest County in the UK but I am a bit biased with it being on my doorstep have a wonderful time.
@couscous thanks for the book advice and recipes. I’m going to give it till the end of April see what I’ve lost and see if it’s the diet for me, so far really impressed with the fasting plan and this group. Keep up the good work people. And a little ps if your off to Northumberland you’ve got to go to Craster to the smokehouse and buy some kippers very very hard to beat🐟🐟🐟

Day 13 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD

HI all! I’m new to the 5:2 diet! It was recommended to me by my doctor this morning so I’m doing my research and deciding on fast days! A bit of a late start but I’d like to join the group. My fiancé is doing it with me for support and were starting on Monday as a NFD and fasting on Tuesday so I’ll update then 🙂

    Happy fasting everyone!!!

Day 13 -NFD- New York State (temporarily)
Have made up a breakfast plate but have boxed it up so that I can wait until noon to eat. Kids are enjoying cartoons in hotel room. Will hit the road soon and drive the remaining 3 hours to Providence, RI.
Thank you for all you do @okeydokey – I had no idea that you’ve been suffering with broken tibia! Talk about the power of positive thinking & writing 🙂
To all who are struggling with emotional issues (me included) let’s remember that every day is fresh and new and full of potential. We should let go our preconceived notions and embrace that change is possible and within our grasp – look at what we are doing with our health! @goldensun, love shouldn’t hurt, though it can be sticky and challenging. The biggest ‘tell’ of good long-term relationships is respect for your partner -and yourself within the relationship. Finally, as I head off to my destination, I remind myself that the basic state of being is one of pure joy. We sometimes cover it up with layers of muck ‘karma’ but we can be mindful to sweep away that karma and attachment to the present and let the joy come through. Let the light out! (I had a good sleep – incredibly comfy bed and happy quiet children post swim 🙂

Day 13, Rocky Mountains, US, FD, 4th of B5B

    Hello all,

Thanks for your nice words @annemarilyn, @strawberriesandcream, @flourbaby!🌸🌻🌼
I’ll be thinking of you, @flourbaby, when you will butter up your hot cross buns. It was a little cruel describing it the way you did! Just kidding! 😅😁😄
    Enjoy!!! 😊⚘😊⚘😊

Have a great day, be it a FD, NFD, CD or BSD!!! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

    Hi calamity and welcome:

Here is some information on 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

    Day 13 – Belfast – FD
It seems to be going ok…I haven’t taken a slim-a-soup thingy for lunch cos I REALLY want to eat veggie chilli and brown rice for my dinner (recipe in the first fast diet book). It’s fab…hubbie and I were both very impressed with the flavour. He almost prefers it to chilli con carne. Result!
Anyway, trying not to think about food, pottering on in work and keeping busy. Unfortunately planning Easter menu with siblings so lots of talk about curries and chocolate tarts, but I’ll hopefully keep to the 5:2 next week. Or if not, at least low-cal meals.
We’re almost half way through April. Crazy. Thanks again to @okeydokey for all the hard work and everyone for the stories and encouraging words. Good luck FD-ers!

Had planned a FD here in Perth WA but when confronted with the lovely wine and food on offer it went out the window. So….non FD today and probably not for the next 2 weeks…!! Will try to eat sensibly but in reality it’s going to be very hard! So to sum up… NFD today…

    Day 13, Gozo, Malta, NFD

65 kilos this morning. I’d like to lose one kilo. Then maintain.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Day 13: Gloucestershire, UK: NFD…..as ever…

    Day 13, Germany, FD

I’m doing a non-planned FD, stayed home today,a lot of patients are off on a holiday so it’s quiet at work, the 3 others can manage without me (DH and I think, they don’t, it’s easier for them when I do the thinking!). DH brought home a beautiful bouquet a patient bought for me, that made my day!

@okeydokey I’m glad your son is doing so well, but what can you expect with a mother so positiv and motivating! I’m so impressed you’re able to keep up with the posts and the spreadsheet, it takes so much of your time.

@at Have you heard anything of the biopsy, you’re also being so positiv and helpful to everyone, it really helps if someone cares.

@debster251 and @and…exhale thankyou for being there. When I see, what some of our patients are going through, my health problems are really minor and I have have lots of help and support, so I can’t complain at all. It will get better.

Habe a joyful, beautiful, sunny Easter all of you and beware of all those delicious cholcolate Easter eggs!

    2nd post

Forgot to thank @okeydokey for the link, also very motivating! (today I seem to have an exclamation mark day)

    Day14/FD/Melbourne Australia

    Thanks @okeydokey

    3rd Post Day 13 – US – FD

@at your Your posts always warm my heart, so very calming and always what we need to hear. Positive energy and hugs coming your way for you and your friend. 🤗 ✨💛
@snowflake56 ✨Your welcome✨ A warm hug and positive energy to you to help you through your physical therapy as well as your speech therapy. ✨✨You’ve Got This and you can make it through!

I love reading about all the wonderful places our group members are visiting.
@scs light popcorn 🍿 can be satisfying.
@bert1802 You can do it. When your day off gets here😊You will enjoy it even more. I love your supportive words for @goldensun also @goldensun (love your user name✨💛✨ Also after 30 years of marriage with @fordprefect I’ve noticed that giving each other time to process things(decisions, plans,) that we would do together. Takes the pressure off. It seems that pressure to do something quickly within a deadline can cause even the most loving couple to get upset with each other. Hugs 🤗 to you. Hoping you are feeling better soon.
@steve toon taxi driver✨ I can relate the cucumber I ate for lunch was the best cucumber I ever had. So grateful I could eat it.✨I Love your Posts. You are losing weight and doing so well. I hope you stay with us after this month also. If your serious about your sex change…. maybe you’ll want to change your user name. 😊✨Positive vibes and good energy to you!✨
@metatauta what is LCHF? It’s a new acronym for me.😊✨✨🎉So happy for you, about losing serious inches! Well done! 👍
@minnygirl 5 lbs in 4 weeks! If it was a different “diet plan” we would be completely astonished. Remember how great that is. I think we are used to such great results with the fasting plan, that we always think we can do more than any other plans. 😊💃💃Happy Dance for you! 💃💃Your doing great! I’m updating the spreadsheet. You can give me your weight for today and or Saturday and I will add it to your progress on the spreadsheet.✨✨✨Keep it Going!✨✨Onward and downward✨✨👍

    4th Post Day 13 – US – FD
    @and…exhale Have a wonderful vacation!✨Eat something good for me🤣
@snowflake56 I’m very glad to hear. You deserve a good exclamation day!!!✨😊😊
@onahealthyhigh Thank-you for the information about the acronym. I wonder if low carbs or no carbs would be LC or NC. I have 3 of Dr. Mosley’s books on my kindle, the paperbacks should be arriving soon.😊
@scs Way to go✨Glad your first day back to work went well😊✨✨and Congratulations on your b2b2b. Positive confident energy coming your way for the 3rd FD today!!! ✨✨We Got This!✨✨
    ✨😊✨Together we are Stronger✨🤜🏻✨🤛🏻✨✨✨

@okeydokey LCHF = low carb high fat.

    Day 13 – USA – NFD
Second post – @okeydokey, LCHF = low carb, high fat. Mind you, the fat I am referring to is healthy fats…there are a few of us on this forum that eat this way. I completely concur that it wipes out sugar cravings/carb cravings, and I am burning fat instead of glucose. Many videos on YouTube (Butter Bob Briggs, Keto Connect, Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Jason Fung)…it took weeks of comparing research to convince me that I have been brainwashed all my life to be afraid of fat because it “clogs arteries”, etc. I can see why 5:2 and LCHF is not are not popular in the USA (yet) and are seen as radical diets that are not sustainable. Quite the opposite.

    Day 13 – FIN – FD

I was a bit on the fence on whether to turn today or tomorrow into a fast day, but ended up going for Thursday as per usual. I bought a green smoothie for breakfast at a cafe and have absolutely no idea how much energy it contained – I didn’t even read all the ingredients as I was sold at avocado, spinach and mint – but I’m assuming it was somewhere between 250 and 350, which would mean that today’s intake is 600 kcal in the worst case (I ate 100 g cottage cheese and a carrot for lunch and made a courgette-lentil dal for dinner). I’m also currently in that seemingly hyper alert (but actually extremely tired) state you get after not sleeping enough (or at all) due to a DL.

@strawberriesandcream Thank you for the encouragement! I tend to be one of those people who procrastinate things until the very last moment only to realize that there’s not enough time to finish the project as well as I’d like. But at least an approaching DL gets me moving. Perhaps I’ll learn some day…

@at It really does! We were lucky to have yesterday’s scenery repeated today as it kept snowing late into the morning. I don’t mind a little snow despite also looking forward to spring.
I’m sorry to hear you’re so far away from your friend and unable to be there as much as you’d possibly like. I hope you’re able to visit.

    Day 13-US-FD

I didn’t remember if I logged in today!

@onahealthyhigh Thank-you for the link. Important information. I like the part about, our bodies repairing itself from too many old broken down proteins. I rarely ever like to eat breakfast. Waiting for lunch or even dinner has always been my preference. We’ll be staying with relatives this June and it will pretty difficult to convince them of the benefits of not eating breakfast😝
@metatauta Thank-you for bringing that up.I whole heartedly agree with you! I’d do much better with an avocado 🥑 than carbs on a CD. Since last Saturday I’ve had no simple sugars or carbs. I’m continuing definitely through Saturday. I’m weighing myself Saturday morning. So I can compare my weight loss of the 5 FD’s without carbs vs. the 5 FD’s to March, when I had simple sugar and carbs on the weekend before. If I lose more weight this week, I will be convinced. I realize fat loss is not the only indicator. Actually I am somewhat convinced because I’m so tired of the ups and downs of eating simple sugars and carbs. I think that staying in fat burning mode and getting energy from healthy fats would be much healthier and I would feel so much better, than the ups and downs of the carbs and simple sugars.

    Day 13 Kent, UK NFD

Not had much success weightwise last three (good) fast days so a little fed up. Sticking with the programme though and fasting tomorrow. Hope everyone else is getting on well. I haven’t read posts this month as I have been very busy gardening.

However I pulled muscles in my back yesterday heaving heavy containers about so I am taking it easy today. Still managed Walking but not dance class. Thank goodness for freezer patches.

I will catch up tonight as I am planning an early night.

    2nd post 🌈

Well done @redrockgirl302 my fellow pocketeers, yay you, hitting your goal. Inspiration for me! 😊👊🏻
