Day 12 Newcastle UK FD.
Morning everyone 2nd of 3 FD today.
@annemarilyn I’ll definitely invest in the booked I’ll get this first month over first.
The fast plan really fits into my work and home life so far. Think I over ate a little too much yesterday Saturday’s waiting will tell me if I have lol.
My routine was blown away due to a late finish from work also visit a family member in hospital no exercise and rushed evening meal. Glad I’m on a FD today.
Good luck everyone have a canny day.

Day 12 UK NFD
@debster I know what you mean about overuse of the reset button. My last two weekends have meant that Monday’s fast has just been damage limitation. Trying to keep focussed on getting to target by brithday in mid June. Also have a couple of holidays coming up and trying to visualise myself at target weight then. An ongoing struggle…..
Day 12 UK FD π
Quick check in! Haven’t caught up on posts yet, I know I’m in a pocket group with @flourbaby @skinnylove and @bert1802. Keep going, and to anyone else who has joined in for the B2B2B. Will try and skim through and grab your names but wishing us all well and focus and willpower.
Good luck all whatever day you are on “Power to the people”. ππ»
Not hungry this am so that’s all good, always find the 2nd day easier.
Day 12 / UK / FD
Day 3 then! Scales have been encouraging: 33.8kg, another 1.1kg down from yesterday and quite a hop below pre-weekend level (phew!). This is working better than expected–however, yesterday was harder: low mood, contemplated an instant gratification fix in form of a mocha quite seriously (caught myself just in time with a) “your break is over” and b) “you never feel as satisfied after having had one…”). Not wanting to let the mega FD-pocketeer group down certainly helped, THANK YOU to whoever initiated it!
We’ll see how today goes and if the scales motivate me a little more tomorrow morning, I might try to get through the hardest 90 min of the week for snacking on Thursday. In the longer term I plan to continue B2Bs as long as they are working with NFDs on the weekends before returning to AFD.
@jojo58, that happened to me yesterday! Totally wiped out and just continue to function required much more effort, no clue why. Maybe I had handed out too much of my energy to everybody else… π
Day 12 UK FD Hopefuly back on the right track, weight now back to 10.4 which is what I was start of Feb !
Fasting today want to stay in control over this long weekend that’s looming
So sorry to read your news @at β€οΈ
Day 12 Kent UK FD
Skinnylove, it seems to have been contagious, when I got to bowls yesterday morning there were two other friends feeling knackered too, I suspect we all spent too much time in the garden taking advantage of the good weather. But I didn’t give in to it, I packed my day full of exercise, shopping and culminated in my Ukelele Class (very informal sing along with strumming), I am a beginner. I had a swim midday in an outdoor pool, it was glorious and really revived me after stretch and relax class at gym.
Today I am having an extra hour in bed before spending the morning in the garden, more planting and trimming back hedges. I also need to wash my filthy car, about 6 months dirt accumulated. Finally bowls match this afternoon, sadly indoors.
Foodwise it was not a great non fast day, everything eaten ‘on the hoof’, never a good thing. Fasting today and looking forward to a nice salmon salad tonight. It’s a standard on fast days for me, nutritious and delicious.
Have a great day everyone!
Day 12 – FIN – NFD
Snowflakes were dancing down during my dance class last night. Woke up this morning to find everything covered by a thin layer of snow. Such a pretty sight. Winter is apparently fighting its last battle before giving in to spring.
Now off to try to get something done on my thesis. The deadline’s closing in on me (3 weeks to go), and I haven’t really been able to step up my working tactics to the amount I should have by now. Feels like everything else that’s going on is still keeping me from focusing properly, and I’m finding it especially hard to get a lot done on my FDs despite feeling more alert then.
Day 12 – UK – NFD
Started my day with a run (trying the 0-5k app) and it was great to get the blood pumping. Spring has sprung here and the cotswolds look beautiful.
Now to tailor my NFD to my new calorie goal to 1600 to make sure I keep on track π
I hope you all have a good day wherever in the World you may be π
Day 12 – Durham UK – NFD
Days 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 – NFD
Well, after getting thorough last week’s B2B2B okay, I’ve missed yesterday’s and am off course for today. I am in a bad way due to personal issues coming to a head, coinciding with the hormonal roller coaster of lady time.
I know that I am self-sabotaging and eating to fill an emotional void but at the moment I just can’t stop. I am adrift.
I know that I can and will pull myself out of this, but I’m not ready to do that quite yet. Maybe because I’m not ready to face what has to happen when I’m back on an even keel again.
Hope you are all holding strong this week. πͺπ€π
Day 12 UK FD800
Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions re healing. @onahealthyhigh that link was v interesting. @biddiev I used to use manuka honey to heal abscesses on the animals (they often form when they bite each other) but it resulted in skin scalding so now I use salt water and dermisol instead. I think I have quite a healthy immune system as it constantly gets a good workout. I don’t take any supplements as I prefer to eat what I need. We in the west have such an amazing variety of food available to us there is no reason our diets should be deficient. It is disgraceful the way nutritional information has been distorted by marketing. The right to make money has a higher priority for our governments than the right to be healthy:((
Day 12 NFD Portugal
Good FD yesterday, so a NFD today but will not eat snacks …so hard when kids are off school. But I need to remind myself I am still trying to lose weight, not maintain, so the NFDs need to be more controlled so that FDs are not just damage control as someone else mentioned above. That has been a big problem for me and maybe why loss is so slow.
Day 12, Newcastle UK, FD
After two very good fast days I feel confident to join the fast train for the next two days. Weigh in this morning shows 137lbs – 0.9lb up on my last weight – but nowhere near as bad as I was fearing after my weekend blow-out. Still on track for 133lbs by the end of April. Fortunately, I haven’t had easter eggs since being a child, so Easter weekend is never a problem in that respect. However, I still need to be controlled in every other respect!

@notmyrealname – hang on in – everything is temporary – you will get through it.
@skinnylove – great to hear your situation has turned the corner for the better – you sound happy.
@erikaa67 – what is Seltzer drink please?
@umka6 – what is a salt water flush please?
@luna09 – as your username suggests, you are a night owl LOL. Maybe keep your FD calories for the evening and make up an interesting spread of carrot, cucumber, celery, broccoli florets, cherry tomatoes etc. and a couple of homemade dips such as hummus, tzatziki etc.
@chumi – maybe you’re one of the group of people that produces their best stuff under self-imposed pressure. Your sub-conscious is holding you back and any day now it’s going to say GO!
@mulville – sending virtual hugs – what a horrible time for you, your daughter and your friend.
@leighs77 – welcome – sounds like you’re doing well – but no hot cross buns until Friday mind π
@hannahwatto – well done – sounds like you’re doing well too. Occasional blips excepted, on the whole, one good day does tend to lead to another and so on. The feeling of satisfaction after successfully saying no is very powerful.
Have a good Wednesday everyone – Together we are Stronger.
Day 12, London, UK, FD β (2nd of B2B2B)
I had such a busy day yesterday with a yoga class after work and I didnβt get home until 9.30, but I made sure to have a large soup at 4.30 to get me through yoga, so 23:1 yesterday and zero hunger this morning!!! @lynzm, youβre so right the 2nd day is so much easier (I hope Iβm not jinxing today!!) Looking forward to this B2B2B which should set me up for guilt free (but mindful CDs) over the Easter weekend.
@skinnylove β well caught!! (cricket term??….yawn!) sometimes just giving yourself a stern talking to is all it takes, or chugging down half a litre of water, or sticking your earphones in and walking flat-out, I do this in my attempts to outrun that fat fairy hovering somewhere around the hip area with her βwand of fatβ.
@notmyrealname β the wagon awaits!!! No pressure, weβre here when youβre ready, you may feel youβre adrift but weβve all got a hold of the tow rope, itβs just a bit slack at the moment!!β¦β¦β¦.. be kind to yourself first and foremostβ¦β¦β¦β¦β¦. YOU know youβll get back on the wagon when youβre ready so it isnβt a final decision to hop off, just a blip ( a bit like my fast food extravaganza in Jan, or the red wine affair in Feb, orβ¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦ you know what I mean!!)
Iβve got you in my pocket fellow B2B2B(+)-ers!!!!! How are you guys going? ………….. @lynzm – nothing like a bit of a challenge to make you step up (unintentionally!!)β¦β¦β¦β¦ at least Easter will be guilt free, Iβm banking these FDs too!!!!!!
B2B2B LIST FOR DAY 11, 12 & 13!!! & For this week anyway!!

Hi all uk Co Down fd
Just checking in.
Apologies to all this month – I have been making my way out of a bit of a tunnel and have had to concentrate on me. I have continued to check in daily but apart from reading a few posts as I get to the last page I have not kept up at all. Bit selfish but needed to be done and to take a step back but am feeling more in control. Sorry I haven’t got to know all the newbies but my grateful thanks to @okeydokey who has taken over the reins this month (an excellent job I may add) and to the others who contribute so much helpful advice and encouragement as we approach the first year anniversary of these challenges. I thank you all who have become my friends along this journey of self discovery. To any others struggling – there is light at the end of the tunnel you just gotta keep on keeping on. This is not a journey that has an end this is a journey for ever. Find what works and what doesn’t but enjoy the journey, smell the roses/coffee, take a breather. Don’t beat yourself up, be kind to yourself, you deserve it and give your body the best help you can, it is an incredible piece of work that is working 24/7 365. These challenges are not to see who can lose the most weight but to see who can start and be here at the finish line. Be very proud of yourselves and don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back – you deserve it x
Day 12. Belfast CD.
Yesterday’s fast went a bit over, but am not too worried. Am having a controlled day as I pack my caravan for our Easter trip. Had to go and get antibiotics yesterday to clear this weeklong chest infection. I’m missing my exercise, but don’t have the puff for it. Hopefully when I get back I’ll be fit and rearing to go!
@mulville, you’re going through a tough time. Peace and prayers to everyone concerned. Xo
@tillysmum. My friend has been doing the diabetes diet for two months now. She’s lost a stone and a half and and her sugars are down to normal, so good luck on that.
@sarah57 since I retired, I’ve been away an awful lot. We go away with friends and it’s hard not to adopt the make merry mentality. The caravan season is really starting now and I’m determined not to sabotage my efforts. I’m at my lowest now for about 25 years, and I’m determined not to spoil it.
@leighs77 welcome! I’ve just hidden my hot cross buns. Why did I even buy gem in the first place?
@notmyrealname. It sounds like you’re going through an awful time. Emotional eating is a real killer. Try to keep yourself busy to avoid those excess calories. Hugs to you. Xo
@Strawberriesandcream. You are so right, one good day does tend to lead to another. It’s getting on and staying on that wagon! I haven’t been on a roll for a while!
Great post @coda
My thought for today is NO is a powerful word. Strawberries – Thank you for that!π
Wasn’t going to log back in until after my holiday next week but just had to. @debster251 you just made me cry! Thank you for your words of encouragement. I get so frustrated with myself.
Last year I encouraged my friend to have her bloods checked (she was very overweight at the time and I was really worried for her), turned out she was prediabetic. She has lost over 3 stones and reset her sugars. And I am so happy for her but at the same time I’m thinking what is wrong with me why can’t I do this, why am I still struggling month after month starting a new diet – this will do it for me and again I fail. I have high hopes for the BSD but I can’t face another failure.
Day 12 Maine NFD
Good morning all! Great fast day yesterday – helped having beautiful weather & staying outside most of the day!
Heading back to work after 3 month sabbatical – have an apple & wedge of cheese ready for lunch & lots of ice water. Just trying to decide if I should have breakfast first. I’ve never skipped breakfast when working. However, have not eaten much breakfast on the 5/2. Dr. Oz did a show this week on whether or not to eat breakfast. It was very interesting. Bottom line: you don ‘t need breakfast. Your cortisol levels are high when you first wake up & that is when you burn stored fat. Otherwise you’re burning your breakfast calories & not getting into the stored fat. He mentioned the benefits of intermittent fasting. His recommendation is to eat when you feel hungry. So, think I’ll try skipping this morning – I do put a little skim milk in my coffee – & pack some almonds to grab when I’m famished. I’m at the front desk at a very busy hotel on the ocean in our resort town – I don’t have the option of taking a break whenever I want. I’ll just have to see how it goes! Doubt I’ll keel over from hunger!!
Make it a super day everybody! Discipline comes from doing – we’re not born with it!
Day 12-US-FD (weight 213.2)
I decided to do another fast day as I keep fluctuating with 2lbs. I was 211.6 the other day and weighed in today at 213.2. I am really trying to get to 210.0 quickly, as then my goal of 199 seems that much closer!
When I falter a bit I restart. I have to keep doing that. It seems that a few of us have so restarts, but we must remain focused.
@strawberriesandcream A salt water flush helps cleanse your colon & digestive system and makes you have a “forced” bowel movement. The mixture is just a good sea sal, water and lemon. https://draxe.com/salt-water-flush-recipe/
Day 12…..Florida…..FD
Great day spent with my bestest friend, lots of walking and great food. We stopped and had our toes done too. The only bad thing is the massage chair beat the hell out of me and this morning, so I feel like I’m black and blue especially in the kidney region. I’ve ever had a massage chair do this to me!
All I can think is the chair just didn’t like me and decided to take its frustrations out on me….. Lol
@annemarilyn……… I think the reason 5:2 has never caught on in the states is because of popular thought that you have to eat 5-6 small meals a day spreading your calories over the coarse of the day to prevent your body from going into starvation mode. Then there is old wise tale called starvation mode, not eating enough tells the body your starving and it slows everything in your digestive system down. There is no real scientific proof this actually happens but they use it all the time. I think it’s just a rouse to sell snack food. Then, there is that simple belief that 5:2 is a starvation diet. I get so sick of hearing this and I am starting to take offense. Why are you starving yourself to lose weight? I so want to scream, I AM NOT STARVING! No, I just say, I’m not starving, in all actuality I probably eat more than you do, just I eat at different times than usual and it’s more than likely much healthier than your diet.
Lastly, the receipe I use for ACV, is two table spoons of ACV in 8oz of room temp distilled water. I do add some stevia, so it’s not as tart.
@fordperfect….. I’m my travels yesterday, I found and bought the book “The hitchhikers guide”, I’m looking forward to diving into after I finish my current read.
Welcome all the newbies in the group!
Well, I’m off. I’ve got two more days of work before the long weekend!
Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy today!
Day 12 – US – NFD
Day 1 weight 177 lbs
Day 12 weight 174.3
Day 30 goal weight 170
Good morning everyone! I’m certainly wowed by so many people doing back to back (to back to back) FDs! The idea of doing this seems very intimidating to me. Food is such a big part of life, giving it up (or, you know, mostly giving it up) for several days would seem to make the routine of living quite different! Not to mention the being hungry part of it. π
There’s a former NASA scientist here in the US that does a lot of research on health, nutrition, and weight loss, and he has researched the effects of longer term fasting, including by experimenting on himself. He talks about his 21-day water fast in this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNzZod_d18A It’s very interesting, his perspective on eating, and our attitudes about it. Another researcher who’s maybe been mentioned here is Valter Longo, who’s work focuses on intermittent fasting, and he talks about how the 3-meal-a day habit is really just a social construct and there’s no nutritional reason we need to eat three meals a day. Among other things.
Day 12, 2nd post……………..
@bert1802, just a thought, but maybe you’re lacking the “padding” you had before and so the massage is a little bit painful!!!!???
@ Tillysmum you can do this. Go away, enjoy your holiday then get your head around your new way of life. For most people, it is a slow and steady process, so start with a realistic goal. My friend says that at the beginning, she found the diet hard, but is well into the way now. She is going to move over to the 5:2 now because the other is only a short fix. I have also found eating only 2 meals a day helpful. My hubbie, who has type one diabetes, has eaten only 2 meals a day for a long time. He controls both his weight and his sugars very well. Have a lovely holiday and good luck! Xo
Day 12, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD
Hello all, maintaining below goal weight of 145 – today’s weight was 140.8 as a matter of fact. Still have birthday cake from the weekend sitting on the counter with its creamy fudge icing just shining under the crystal dome. Ate a plum instead.
Beautiful day, feeling great, loving this supportive board.
To your health, all.
Day 11, Mountaintop PA, NFD
Day 12, Mountaintop PA, NFD
Back to the emergence of spring in PA. Forsythia and daffodils blooming, some trees and shrubs budding, wonderful start of the the new season for me.
Getting back on Eastern time after our 3 month outing to CA. Hitting the mountain trail this afternoon. Transition takes me 2 days. FD tomorrow.
Day 12 – USA (Utah visiting) – NFD
Good exercise at the gym yesterday, including Silver Sneakers class and weigh in. NO CHANGE which is just where I want to be. It still amazes me that I can constantly feel like I’m counting calories though to remain at TDEE even in maintenance. My body must just naturally like to eat too much as it seems I can gain just barely going over my 1800 TDEE calculation.
Love the discussion of how the 3-meal a day is a social construct and not necessary for living. I know we in the USA have been brain washed that eating small meals constantly is the way to keep our bodies healthy. I do know it never has worked for me, to lose or even to maintain. When I last tried South Beach Diet and you’re supposed to lose 5-8 pounds the first 2 weeks, I think I lost 2. The first time I did it back around 2003 it had worked so much better, but in 2010 it didn’t. Strange. So I know now that I cannot cut carbs out of my 5/6 days without being foggy headed.
It is terrific to see spring emerging here in Utah, and I know back in my IL home some are mowing lawn already. I’ll be home after Easter and see for myself. Being with granddaughters is fun here though, coloring Easter eggs and hiding them.
Onward and downward!
@skinnylove – 33.8kg?????? That is what my tiny 13 year old weighs. Thanks for the humor!
2nd post
@coda …thanks for the encouragement, appreciate it
