  • Second post of the day – FD going ok so far – 5:20 PM here on the east coast of the US

Only calories have been from two cups of coffee with a bit of cream this morning (60 kcal total), which I simply am not willing to give up!!!Hunger has been manageable. Lots of H20 including seltzer water. On tap for dinner is baked cod and enormous green salad, should have enough calories left to enjoy a few apple slices with a bit of PB2 for dessert.

Hope all you fasters out there are hanging tough!!

Day 10 lancaster pa FD . Water only. My bladder is so tired. Just wanted to share that.

    Day10 – UK – FD

Had a good day today. Apple for lunch then a lovely steak salad for dinner. Trusty sugar free jelly for dessert. It’s amazing how some days are easier than others.

In a fit of madness I bought two Creme Eggs today. They’re currently sitting in egg cups on the mantelpiece and they’re my Easter treat. Since I was a child I’ve loved them and would quite happily eat them every day of Lent. The plan is I will look at them all week and exercise my iron(!) will to resist them till Sunday. Thing is at the minute I’ve got a feeling they’re going to be very sweet and too sickly. Had tomatoes earlier and they tasted lovely and sweet, so fresh. Tastebuds seem to be changing the longer I stick to this.

@ciren2 yes it does count as a FD✨Good for you!✨✨✨✨🤜🏻✨🤛🏻✨✨✨✨✨✨
@fordprefect 🤣 your bladder is working overtime and it’s making your abs tighter! Cool 😎

@saffy420 I know what you mean. After a FD avocados 🥑 and tomatoes 🍅 taste heavenly.✨

    Day 10 – London, UK – FD800

Today was supposed to be a ‘normal’ day, but it accidentally turned into a FD. If I hadn’t eaten anything after my (very filling and satisfying) dinner I would have been at 500, but I decided to have a portion of strawberries and blueberries, an orange, and 3 squares of 85% dark chocolate – a lovely mix of good nutrition and a healthy treat. And I feel perfectly content now.

This is only the second FD800 I’ve done (and b2b to boot!) but I think I might almost exclusively switch to them – I find ‘normal’ FDs easy by only eating in the evening, but I’m very nutrition conscious, and can get a lot out of an extra 300 calories. And I really do feel so much better when I’m packing in as much variety and nutrient dense foods as possible.

Thank you to @okeydokey for your warm welcome 🙂 and I think someone else might have welcomed me as well? In which case thanks to you too kind stranger!

Sending good vibes out, especially to those of you having tougher times. Chin up chickaboos!

    Day 11 NFD NZ
I’ll be breaking my fast at 38-39hours shortly with a mix of plain Greek yoghurt, boysenberries, raspberries and blueberries topped with raw pumpkin & sunflower seeds and slivered raw almonds. It’s so delicious and fills me very well whilst also satisfying my sweet tooth with berries.
I’ve just finished 50mins at the gym, I’m trying to take a day between runs for other exercise so I don’t overdo it.

Day 11 NFD will have completed a 40-hour fast by lunchtime when I will have vegetable soup. Will grill marinated pork ribs for dinner so have to be careful of my calories through the rest of the day. I don’t use any sugar or oil in the marinade and grilling the ribs removes some of the fat so should be okay. Will have lots of fresh veges with the ribs and fresh fruit for dessert. I know all that sounds good but this won’t be easy as I have to go to the optician in the late afternoon and they are in a small shopping centre which is full of delicious food options at my worst time of the day for thoughtless eating. By planning my meals for the day I am hoping to keep everything under control.

@at sorry to hear about your friend and you are so right – life is for enjoying now. xx

@fatrabbit – I’ve been thinking about your 800 calorie with fasting. As I understand it you are fasting for about 22 to 23 hours a day and then you eat a single meal? If so then the fasting is probably helping some with your metabolism. However I think there is a bigger issue. You might slowly become malnourished, as I don’t see how you can maintain a balanced diet on 800 calories a day unless you are a very small person. Probably a couple months isn’t a problem, but at some point vitamin deficiencies have cause strange problems. For example when I had been doing to much calorie restriction for many months, I developed white spots on my tongue and I wasn’t even losing fat. A one a day vitamin pill cleared up the spots in a couple of days. I no longer need those because I make sure I eat enough different foods on my NFDs to cover my needs. Anyway at some point you might want to not worry about he calorie limit and just focus on making sure you are getting enough nutrients from your diet. I think the OMAD (One Meal A Day) approach is okay and there seems to be a good number of people doing that. Anyway your weight loss results are definitely spectacular and you should give yourself a good pat on the back for that!

    Day 10 NFD Melbourne, Australia
    Day 11 NFD

    Day 11 – Croatia – NFD
    Weight: 78.8 kg
Yesterday night was a binge night. 200 g chocolate and 250 g cookies. Not a smart choice.

Extra post – just had my bowl of vege soup after fasting for 41 hours – it was FANTASTIC! Hope all the pocket fasters are going strong. I take my hat off to you! 🙂

@at – so sorry for the news of your friend. May you be able to support him/her well.

    Day 10- Montreal- FD

    Day 11 UK FD

    second day of B2B.

    Day 11 UK FD 🌈

Hi all, so yesterday’s potential FD turned into a NFD, and then got worse, I was hungry and didn’t want to stop eating, had a hungry day, so therefore I went into analysis mode and worked out that when I have a hungry day it’s always because I’ve either had Sugar, (in the form of lovely sponge cake yesterday) White Bread or Potatoes. (jacket potatoes seem ok, maybe because I eat the skin? so added fibre).

    INTERESTING 🤔

Woke up also feeling very lethargic with a little bloated belly, do not feel good, which being on this WOL have felt good and energetic most days.

    INTERESTING 🤔

it’s good that I am able to work out what’s right for me and what isn’t. So lesson learned! Only from taking things out of your diet and adding them back in do you find out what your body reacts to and what it excepts.

So with a yawn, and a coffee, I’m off into my FD hopefully waking up tomorrow feeling better, good luck all.

    Day 9, Oceanside CA, NFD
Day 10, Oceanside to Mountain Top Pa, NFD

The beautiful California winter is a happy memory. DH and I were faithful to the Fast 5:2 until the last week of our time away and we had CD’s with some California and Washington State wine.

Traveled today and was glad I logged 548 miles with my Fitbit the last three months as we had a 17 minute sprint between gates in Detroit and ran onto the plane 2 minutes before the gate closed.

Looking forward to the mountain terrain until next January. Will soon be working on my new garden. Probably only one FD this week. Family coming Friday and it will be time for Easter dinner and a few chocolate eggs.

    Hi @obesa Lycra biker here…..yes I know,not a pleasant sight haha

    Day 11 / UK / FD

Yesterday’s FD was a breeeeze! There were seconds when I contemplated sneaking in a little Easter egg, but they never lasted much longer and all in all food (non)intake was easy. Felt very energised, started the morning/day/week with my first job coach session–it felt fantastic to finally do something about my situation! And finished with the usual yoga on a Monday: the session itself was hard, but I don’t think I have ever left the gym after yoga this energised. Flew up the hill that I usually dread (although I don’t think it’s much steeper than others). Scales have rewarded me just now as well: I am already back to 64.9kg from 66kg. Will this little weekend hiatus even energise the weightloss that had become a little sluggish before? A girl can dream!

Today: 2nd FD of hopefully B4B!

May the energy be with you!

    Day 11 Kent UK NFD

Skinnylove, I think you stole my energy too, I FEEL THE OPPOSITE OF YOU, very sluggish after a zero calorie fast yesterday. Maybe I should not have done such high energy stuff yesterday, completely pooped today.

Pushing through until dinner tonight if I can manage it

    Have a good day everyone?

    Day 11..UK..NFD

Down 2lbs. Out to lunch with friend today so will try to keep it simple.

@chubbybiker. Ha ha. I wondered because I didn’t think a motorbike would be exercise going to work. We see so many of you about now.

    Day 11 UK NFD

@strawberriesandcream thank you. It has taken me about 8 months to build confidence to the point where I am less worried about those little blips and hesitations. I used to get really worried when I temporarily fell off the wagon. What is noticeable now is that after a bad day or weekend I am positively keen to fast and don’t really feel hungry as my body breathes a sigh of relief probably.

Day 11 UK NFD yesterday went well, just want to get a few “controlled ” NFDs in as we approach the long weekend

    Day 11, Newcastle UK, FD

@at – Sending love and hugs to you as you begin the job of supporting your friend. Sorry to hear this bad news. It certainly puts things in perspective.

@lynzm – Interesting thoughts about your weight loss journey. I guess if it was all so easy – none of us would be on this forum to start with. Thank goodness we have each other to share our thoughts with. It really helps.

Feeling a lot more positive this morning – head back in the right place – must not relapse into my old all or nothing thinking.

    All the best today.

    Day 10 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 11 – London, UK – FD

    Fast day coming up today.

I weighed myself this morning and I’m down a whopping 0.2kg. Disappointing, but I have been ill and not moving around much, aside from long walks on the weekend. Not been eating loads on my NFDs so I’m going to keep on trucking and hope for the best.

Also, TMI alert – I haven’t pooped properly in a full week now. Anyone else faced this?

    Day 11 Portugal FD

Yesterday’s NFD was ok until we went out last night and had frozen yoghurt and toppings. Back to FD today. Must keep busy.

    Day 11 UK FD800

Yesterday evening became very difficult (probably because I said I found evenings easy, silly me). I actually picked up a piece of rye bread and had a couple of bites before managing to put it down again. And the cheese in the fridge was calling me especially as I was watching a series on all 4 and all the ads were for food, cheese and chocolate mostly. I haven’t watched ads for ages but recently discovered what brilliant series all 4 has on Walter Presents, good enough to out wait the ads but last night they were deadly. The only reason I held out was that I felt really unwell too, splitting headache and queasy and bloated. The only thing it could have been was the few pieces of quorn that I put into my salad. I have been encouraging my son to eat it for variety as he only eats a very limited number of foods but I need to remember that although it is vegetarian it is still highly processed and therefore not good. I am not buying that again. For either of us.

@dykask the BSD isn’t meant to be done long term. 8 weeks is the usual so that is as long as I will do it for and then only if it continues to suit me. I am aware that I need to be eating in such a way as to get the most nutrition possible. I am actually eating two small meals in a 3 to 4 hour window rather than one as that would be too much food at once as veggies allow you a lot of volume. I can no longer tolerate as much food at once. I am aiming for as close to ten different vegetables a day as I can get. 8 is what I typically manage. Drinking marmite in hot water sorts the b vitamins, with seaweed to add some minerals. I have noticed that I have rather a lot of bruises and that scratches are healing slowly. Any suggestions about what lack could be causing that?

@at. So very sorry to hear about your friend… it’s always a shock to hear this.

Day 11, London, UK, FD (1st of b2b2b)

@lynzm………. (am I being presumptuous??)………but…… I’m in for a pocket b2b2b – Tue-Thurs (you know you want to!!!). Any other takers join the pocket list below for a Pre-Easter push (before the hot cross buns & chocolate do their worst!!!)

I’ve taken the liberty of adding those fasting Tue-Thurs!!

Add you name then cut and paste, keep a copy in your pocket for inspiration, support or just for something to fondle/ grab rather than THAT biscuit………………….
    B2B2B LIST FOR DAYS 11, 12 & 13!!!

    @lynzm – (b2b2b – TBC)
    @flourbaby (b2b2b)
    @skinnylove (b2b2b2b)

@miffy88 – your weight loss is still a loss, so keep the faith. I would guess that your digestive system is a bit sluggish and you’re holding onto a lot of food ‘in transit’ so to speak! The only advise I have is to up your water intake (make a real effort to have 3L per day) and you could try psyllium husks to ‘get things moving’………………or prunes!!! You’ll probably have a big ‘whoosh’ at your next weigh in too!!!

Good luck everyone, keep the faith!!!!!

@fatrabbit I don’t know what could be slowing down healing of scratches. I think seaweed is a great source of natural vitamins. I don’t know if you have any dairy or eggs in your diet so seaweed is at least something. I’m not familiar with marmite in hot water, sounds like a stiff drink. I hear what you are saying about the volume of vegetables, it is hard to eat 400 calories of vegetables. Even a 3 to 4 hour window is giving you a lot of fasting. You might need to talk to a doctor though about the bruises and slow healing. For me I love cheese so I get a lot of dairy, but that would be hard to enjoy in 800 calories.

    Day 11 Melbourne NFD
Very happy that I “pinched an inch” on my belly and it was definitely smaller! Probably 3/4 of an inch…

@biddiev – Very cool! I’m almost there … well maybe more like 3cm.

I’ve picked up a strange habit of pinching my fat often.

    Day 10 – UAE – FD
    Day 11 – UAE – FD (B2B)

    Just a quick check in..

    Day 11 Belfast FD
Yesterday turned into a NFD through no fault of my own so am fasting again today.
@tillergirl I hope your hubby is well on the road to recovery.
@at I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. Internet hugs to you. It’s all the more reason to look after ourselves.
@sarah57/@SCS the ‘Reset button’ is the great thing about this WOL. Sadly I use it too much!
@obesa I looked at Country Life on my library app but didn’t see the article about village gardens. Do you know what page it was on? I would love to see it. I’m guessing you live in a gorgeous village. My sister lives in a converted barn in a Northampton sandstone village. Those chocolate box villages are what I miss the most living here.
    @fatrabbit your progress is amazing!
I’m reading lots of successes here. I need to rack up my efforts! Sadly my chest infection still lingers a week later, so exercise is off the menu. So lots of focus on my NFDs now.
    Good luck to everyone today.

    Day 11 Hampshire FD

    Day 11 – UK – NFD

Weighed in at 61.2kg this morning. 200g away from my end-of-April goal! Off on holiday on Friday though, and although I’ll be trying to make sensible choices, I’m expecting to maintain at best, if not gain a little.

    x

    Day 11 – FIN – NFD

Stuck to the 500 kcal limit yesterday. The day’s intake consisted of a banana and a portion (10 g) of almonds for breakfast, two plum tomatoes and thin crispbreads with cheese and half a cold cut of turkey on top for lunch, a box (250 g) of mini plum tomatoes as snack and 100 g cottage cheese and a carrot for dinner + honey for one cup of tea. I’m glad I managed to eat over 500 g of vegetables & fruit. My FD meals have recently gotten a bit too schematic since I find it easier to stick to simple things. I also don’t feel very motivated to cook something only for myself. I suppose I could look up some simple recipes, though (I’ve seen many good suggestions in this and last month’s threads).

@at, I’m very sorry to hear about your friend. As someone who recently lost a family member to cancer, I know that the battle against the illness can be devastating. I hope you’re able to encourage your friend and give her hope so that she gains strength to fight against the illness.

@saffy420, I understand your interest to exercise your will, but still, I would suggest putting the eggs somewhere you can’t see them at all times – the visual stimulation makes it more likely that you’ll give in to the (or other) temptation(s). “The diet doesn’t fail because of weakness of will, the diet fails because the chocolate is there.” Conor Neill

    Day 11 Newcastle UK NFD.
Fasting day completed successfully although it doesn’t really finish till 12 noon today, I will get there with coffee and juice. Fasting days consist of two cans of Heinz soup two pink and white wafers an apple plums or satsumas and half a pint of milk. I calculate the 600 calories and write them down
So I know that’s my food for the day. I feel I have to be totally organized on the fasting days. The NFD I don’t eat till midday last food around 5pm / 7.30pm two main meals with fruit if I get hungry in between meals.
Decided this Sunday and Monday will be NFD I’m not going to worry about my intake as its a family time but back on track Tuesday definitely !
This is my fourth week on the diet, the posts have been very informative and helpful especially the sex life of rabbits and the naked gardeners 😜
Is it worth investing in the books about the fasting diet? could do with finding some recipes for the fasting days before I go soup crazy 😖
    Stay focused people.

    Day 11, FD Sydney Australia
The day is almost over. Weird how some FDs are a lot easier than others. This has been a relatively easy one. Ive held to below 400 calories.
@at sorry about your friend. Ive been through this with a sister in law. Very difficult, but she was actually an inspiration to the family. Wishing your friend all the best.

    Day 11 – US – NFD

Good morning April 2017 Group, so lovely to catch up with all your posts first thing in the morning!!

I had a wonderful fast day yesterday! I might be speaking prematurely, but this maybe possibly seems to be perhaps getting a little tiny bit easier. Then again maybe it was a fluke. The advice from everyone to save my calories for one meal at the end of the day was the best advice ever. If I keep busy throughout the day and drink lots of fluids dealing with the feelings of hunger is manageable. Then I have enough calories for what seems like a pretty big meal at dinnertime. I went to bed not feeling particularly hungry (shocker!!!) and slept pretty well. Down 1.5 pounds from yesterday.

    Day 1 weight 177
    Day 11 weight 174.1
    Day 30 goal weight 170

    Day 11 – Switzerland – NFD

Lovely sunny/breezy day here so am in the middle of an epic spring-clean, curtains and covers. Bagged nine bin-bags of old clothes for charity yesterday, which had migrated down to the store-room. Not all mine, but maybe half. Outgrown by the children and outshrunk by me. Glad to hand them on to someone else…

@at what rotten luck, warm wishes to your friend and to you as you help them through.

    Days 10 & 11 – Aus – NFDs

    Hi Debster

We haven’t seen the mag yet. It looks like it is the 12th not the 11th so we’ll get one tomorrow. I didn’t realise it was a weekly publication.

    🌲All best 🌳

    Day 11…..Florida…… NFD

    Morning all,

My FD went really well, I even started taking ACV again, in hopes to help with some issues. I also stepped on to the scale for a quick peek and I believe I may have evenbroke the plateau, I’ve been on! Go me!

LynzM……. I’m not sure if this will help…… I noticed when I have hungry days and could just eat and eat. I did some research and discovered one of two things. First, my body is lacking some vitamin or nutrient that I can define or I’m having a withdrawal of something. It’s more the lacking part than anything. So, the first thing I do is pop a multivitamin. Then I slowly start reaching for vitamin and nutrient dense food, one thing at a time at least a 1/2 hour between the two. Maybe it’s something you could try, if the hungry days persist.
Most of the time this is the cause, so I prevent the over eat. 10% of the time, it doesn’t so, I chaulk it up to being emotional.

AT…… Please send my thoughts and prayers to your dear friend.

Miffy…… I too share your problem. I used to have difficulties is that department, then I started taking ACV, which help considerably. Then, I ran out of it and stop taking it same results. I started taking it again yesterday, problem solved. My only thoughts as to why, is that I stopped eating all the junk, that kept things moving because my body hated them and wanted them out fast. The ACV has helped tremendously!

Fat rabbit….. Could the bruises and scratches be from a lack of iron in your body? I know this can be a problem for most veggie people since the do not consume meat. Meat is one of those things that give us the most iron in our diets. The do have iron supplements, maybe give that a spin see if it helps!

Flourbaby……. I’ll be joking you Wed, Thursday and Friday, if you could add me to your list! Thanks

HHQ…… I don’t think you spoke prematurely, it does get easier! I still have rough days but for the most part, I can have a FD without even thinking about it. Now NFD, well those are the times I over think, struggle and over eat at times. Let’s be honest for a second, I have found that I seldom get hungry anymore, no belly grumbles, no thinking about my food and what I’m going to eat. On NFD, I still have no signs of hunger or belly grumbles but I know I have to eat, so it is more of a struggle.

Well, I’m better get going, My dear friend will be here shortly for our wilderness journey!

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy, for you only live once YOLO!

    Day 11 USA NFD: .

I’ve been on vacation for the last week and I missed the introductions. I’ve been apart of this group since September and I’ve found it inspirational as well as motivating. I’d like to continue even though I’ve had a late start. My goal this month: 5 lbs. Didn’t loose any last month that stayed off anyways, so I’m looking forward to start loosing again this month. Here’s to you all!

@fatrabbit again — I just saw that a lack of zinc can cause problems with wound healing. However most of the foods that have zinc aren’t exactly low calorie fair. You might try a multi-vitamin while you are on the 800 calorie diet. @bert1802 has a point too about iron. I know that can be a problem for some women, not something I’ve ever had to think about. I actually have a half jar of multi-vitamins. I used to take them for fasting, but finally decided it didn’t help that much. But I’m eating 3x the food on my NFDs that you are currently eating.

I saw an youtube clip about the Blood Sugar Diet and it is really about very short term calorie restriction and then meant to be followed up with a normal but healthy diet. A lot of people have problems with longer term calorie restriction so probably 8 weeks is a good period of time before the body starts to adapt to it too much. However I think your repeated 20 hour fasts probably help too. Just don’t do what I did, 3 years … that almost did wreak my health and couldn’t hold the weight loss with just calorie restriction. At some point I need to eat at a normal level for my body to work well. Fasting really has been working well though.

I don’t have your will power, I’d probably just fast for 10 days straight and get it over with if I had the option to do that. As it is I’m almost pushing my wife too far. While she sees I’m very healthy she doesn’t seem to completely believe it. Although she has stopped saying I should go to a Japanese doctor. I have nothing against Japanese doctors but often you can’t control exactly who you see and I find it awkward to communicate at a pre-school level as my Japanese is very limited. I should force myself to improve but I’m always worried about paying the bills instead.

Day 11 – East Coast Canada – NFD

    Day 11,Germany,FD

@at I’m so sorry for your friend,I hope she’s a fighter. It must be good to have you as a friend, you’re always so supporting to everyone and finding the right words.

    Day 11- US- CD

I have lost one lb. and I needed that after my horrible Friday past.

Going to have light food today because my stomach feels really full. I may do a salt water flush since I will be home all day.
