  • Day 9 – a bit late but struggling to find time to log in every day. Weight at 97kg so 2kg down so far. I’m pleased with that. FD on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as son home from Uni on Monday so out for a pub meal. Need to get really strict with myself over the next two weeks as going to France for the weekend at the end of the month just before the final weigh in! I’m not worried about Easter though as I don’t like chocolate.

    Not a very controlled weekend all due to a lack of planning – lesson learned! It finally looks like Spring has decided to make an appearance.

    Day 10 Maine NFD but very CD

    Very successful fast day yesterday even tho’ joining friends for breakfast out. We had a lovely walk first, then ate at the resort where I’ll return to work on Weds! They offer a lovely breakfast of 2 eggs, roasted tomato slices & 1/2 avocado. I then fasted the rest of the day while outside doing a yard clean up (clothes on!). I was encouraged by something @jojo58 mentioned last month….Pounds on quickly, come off quickly. I undid the damage from Saturday in one day – plus lost a few ounces! The power of “Reset”! Also, liked eating in the morning for a change even tho’ I went to bed very hungry.

    Off to Boston to meet friends & visit a museum.

    I had a bit of a bug at the end of last week, but feeling better now. However, I ate very little and only 2 slices of pizza yesterday! So weight is dropping off fast at the moment, but I’m on holiday this week and Easter weekend coming up, so fingers crossed. I’m hoping I don’t over eat too much.

    Well I wasn’t very successful last week I’m afraid. According to the scales I’ve put on 3.5 lbs !! 😡😡 not going to stress about it though .

    Anyway, I’m trying to get back to it this week. FD’s are planned for Wed, Fri and Sun.

    Just can’t get my head round things at the mo. Hubby has a GP appointment this afternoon so maybe that will settle me a little.

    Day 7 cards night,lots of snacks prior to fish & chips followed by vast amounts of sweets and chocolate….amazing how physically bad I felt after that consumption,haha,normally before all be taken in ones stride 😜. I did try to negate some of the gorging by skipping lunch earlier.

    Day 8 day ok,evening large pizza,shop made so not toooo drastic did follow it up with 3/4 of a lidl finest tart,what a 🐽🐽🐽🐽 , two sittings but hey no need hahaha.

    Day 9 day ok unexpected trip to cinema in evening so plans a bit awry,toffee popcorn and twirl bites smashed then tin curry and rice about 21.00 which throws today’s fast out abit but just Gotta crack on as best.

    No biking since Thursday night so a bit light on excersise front,mayhap affected weigh in a bit,heyho,week off this week so biked to weigh in at work this morning & will have to put in a few days ( I hope) to keep things on track.

    Day 10 Australia FD was a very successful fast day and am hoping I’ll go at least 36 hours. On my NFDs I will follow the food guide set for me by my trainer. VisionPT works out your food allowance based on the number of macros you can have each day in carbs, proteins and fats. It worked for me for a couple of years and then my father died and everything went out of control. I think I am back now though. Hope everyone is going well.

    We are on he 10th day of the month but the 23rd page of this forum! That’s one great forum. I have only just started too catch up on posts tonight – Coda I hope everything is ok Sending hugs

    Had a good controlled NFD yesterday with a good balance of exercise (taught yoga and walked a lot) and also took time to give my body a break. Today I teach 3 classes, so a little busier. Sending good resolute energy to all the pocketeers today-We can do this!

    Day 10 – USA (Utah, visiting) – FD

    Need to do a FD after our vacation week at the mountain condo. Hope I can do it still here at daughter’s home. Need to spend some time catching up on all your posts, but it sounds like lots of good experiences going on! If you’ve fallen off the wagon, fret ye not. We’re here and understanding.

    I have used Equal in my coffee probably for 10 years or so, but that’s about the only time I use any artificial sweetener. Maybe one Diet Coke a month and seldom any other reason for it. Maybe my body is lucky to not experience any repercussions from it. Lucky 🍀 or something else?

    Silver Sneakers class will be tomorrow, so today is a good day to fast. Onward and downward!

    Day 10 – FIN – FD

    Ended up snacking a bit last night, and supposedly that’s also why today’s been a bit difficult on the hunger front. Still, I plan to stick to only eating 500 kcal today as per usual and thus have about 100 kcals left to go.

    I have to say that I’m excited to experience the changes that are taking place in my body. On top of the internal changes (I feel better overall and my stomach is less upset than it usually is, at least on fast days), this morning when moving down the stairs I could also feel that there was less mass on my legs than before. I know some of you were worried about the changes in your face, but I like seeing more shapes on mine (my cheekbones are getting more prominent and there’s less fat under my chin).

It is good I am so proud of our Group! ✨😊So many people are able to add their names to the Pocket Group! 😁 So many wonderful people helping others. PLUS we have entertainment, about online weight loss groups. @steve-toon-taxi-driver again so funny. 🤣Entertainment about @fatrabbit keeping an eye on those honeymooners. Bunny 🐰 🐇porn is pretty darn funny 😂@obesa drinking wine in the garden and throwing of your clothes😊I think you’ve got paradise going on there. gardening and getting naked in the garden.     Still catching up with posts as I was out this morning and busy til about 3 and just sat down to read posts with a miso soup BUT I try to avoid yeast in foods as I get athletes foot, thrush, etc only to find that the miso soup I’ve bought (wakami brand) has yeast extract among its ingredients!! I’ve drunk now as I was getting hungry –

    Does anyone know if all miso soups contain yeast extract? If so is there something as good tasting that I can make into a hot chilli drink.

    I thought about it myself, as I seem to react to sugar – I get a bit hyper and sometimes I can’t sleep if I’ve had too much sugar. I try to keep to a Mediterranean diet but we like our pasta and potatoes 2-3 times a week
    I’m finding today’s fast easier so far – my 5th

    I’ve used the Stevia and xylitol sweetener blends. I think they are the best as far as taste goes. Trim healthy mama has their own and even some little packets. I don’t use a lot of sugar But when I do I prefer those.

    End of 5th FD or just about. So maybe you are right Strawberriesandcream.
    Ok not eating until later this am, in fact, it was good as I had something to look forward to post Zumba.
    However, could not see me doing that if I am on shift as breaks came be late or not at all at times.

    Nearly 10miles on the Garmin now after a very long dog walk to take the mind off food.
    Dinner is all ready to go lots of veg with chicken breast & a sugar free jelly.

    Really looking forward to a fast day after my 3 day mini break. On Sunday I opened my first bottle of wine since February. Drank it over two nights. Suffice it to say I’m putting the cork back in for the remainder of April. Still cannot stop at one glass and it wreaks havoc with my self control and sleep. Ate too much gorgonzola and brie and am sitting up in bed feeling quite queasy. It’s 1:25am here.

    I’m starting two free online courses this month. One offered by the University of Newcastle, “The Science of Weight Loss: Dispelling Diet Myths” and the second offered by the University of Purdue “Body Weight: How Our Brain, Behaviour and Genetics Influence Appetite and Food Choices.” Me thinks this WOL is taking over! I’m also working my way slowly through a fascinating course on Literature and mental health.

    Success with intermittent fasting starts in the mind but if you don’t manage NFDs no amount of fasting will help you achieve your goal. Wishing everyone a successful fast day or a controlled NFD. You can have your cake and eat it but try not to eat it every day!

    Hi Cirene:

    It depends on how much you ate yesterday and how much you will eat today.

    If you ate more than 500 cal yesterday before you started your ‘fast’, then yesterday was not a fast day. If you eat more than 500 calories today after you ended your ‘fast’, then today would not be a fast day either.

    When you do 24 hour fasts, you are really on an every day reduced calorie diet, so you have to count your calories every day to insure you are at some point eating under your TDEE.

    Had a good mull over things today and got round to thinking that instead of chastising myself for the few occasions on which I have fallen off the wagon since starting this WOL at the end of January, I should congratulate myself for what I have achieved and remember my own advice to others about two steps forward and one step back etc. So your kind comment, @okeydokey, was well timed. I have given myself that hug and feel much better – thank you!

    @onahealthyhigh – I certainly ‘ate a lot of cake’ this weekend, but it was a rare event nowadays, and a good fast today has already started putting some of the damage right. But the real work is, as you say, controlling NFDs and finding the right balance going forward to ensure that once I’ve reached my goal weight, I don’t pile it straight back on.

    @pashaw, I really hope you had a fab day out with your daughter, sod the calories (I’m pretty confident Yorkshire puddings & stuffing have ZERO calories, providing you eat them at the same time as roast potatoes…………………NO, I definitely heard that somewhere!!!), an infrequent day out, spent enjoying your daughters company and good food is an event to savour!! I hope your hubby returns home soon, and remember, although absolutely not wished for or asked for, these ‘events’ are well deserved respite for you……..……..his carer, stay strong.

    Thought about naked gardening (Oh, @obesa, what have you started!!!!!) here in SE London……………………just waiting for OH to confirm whaling had DEFINITELY been outlawed in these here parts!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @hereigo, Clearspring miso paste doesn’t have yeast extract and I don’t think Yatuka does either………….not entirely sure why they would!!! Sometimes I use Marigold veg bouillon (12cals) and chuck a few chilli flakes in for that ‘BOOM’ on the tastebuds!!

    Mondays are the closest thing I get to a day off and so I always get hungry. It probably wasn’t a good idea to do the Tesco order today. I seem to have ordered a few naughty things for Easter. But the rabbits made me do it! Sadly I am not talking about the organic carrots:~

    @strawberriesandcream that’s it count the good bits and look forward. perfection is not necessary. (she says knowing that she still has time to change that order but doesn’t really want to)

    @ciren2 It may not have been a technically correct 5:2 fast day but it was certainly a step in the right direction:) if you keep stepping you move forward. Have you tried an 800 calorie fast day? I find them much easier. If nothing else you might find them a useful bridge to get back to success. I started using them after I began to struggle with 500 and was afraid I was going to give up entirely. Feeling successful breeds more success.

    Day 10–MA, USA–FD. (I thought I posted earlier, but I’m not seeing it, so my apologies if this is repetitive.) So far, so good. Mondays are sometimes hard fasting days for me (maybe just because Mondays in general are hard!), but today I feel like I have it under control. I’ve been drinking lots of flavored seltzer water, which I love. I just discovered a new delicious flavor so that keeps things interesting…La Croix blackberry cucumber…yum! And, when I’m drinking lots of water, I’m much less likely to slip up and start munching on candy that’s lying around. Hope everyone’s week is off to a good start. My work day just ended so I’m looking forward to getting out into this beautiful day.

    @erikaa67 It is good to hear that I’m not alone with the anxiety around overeating on NFDs, and also a relief to know that it gets easier with time. I think for me, it’s not that my hunger is out of control on those days, but that I don’t always listen to my hunger/fullness cues, and end up over doing it. Other times, I find that I indulge in something, feel guilty about it, and so say “well, I guess I’ve messed up, and should stop trying.” That’s the kind of thinking that I really need to work hard to overcome.

    @hereigo Yes, having flu like symptoms can pop up during fasting. It’s described as a withdrawal from carbs and simple sugars. Here is a link that has helped myself and others. Maybe the information would help you.

    Information that is good to know. If you or anyone else is on high blood pressure medicine. The potassium and or sodium is probably not a good idea. Please check with your Doctor if you have High Blood Pressure.

    Day 10 – Cumbria UK – FD

    I had a dreadful day today……………..heard that a really good friend of mine has just been diagnosed with cancer and her prognosis is not good – so today did not turn out to be a water FD after all but I’m really proud of myself for keeping to only around 400cals…………

    Life is so unfair at times…………….😢

    Whoops FD turned to NFD – Homemade Victoria sponge cake was bought into work. Seemed to rude to say no.

    So B2B delayed until Tuesday and Wednesday, for penance might even try a B2B2B. Also as Easter weekend coming up and family celebrations so it would be good to get ahead of myself. As Friday to Monday will all be NFDs.

    Did go to the gym today. 🏃🏼‍♀️🏋🏼‍♀️

    Still aiming for that further 6lb by the end of the month.

    Hope all on FD did better than me.

    Day 10 UK FD

    Wondered what today would be like after overindulging at the weekend but it was fine. I think I am still full from yesterday. What counts as over indulgence now is totally different from before I started 5/2. I can just get back straght back on it and save all those recriminations and self hatred from the past.

    @at – so sorry to hear of your friend’s diagnosis. Cancer can be pretty rough. Sending cyber hugs.

    I was thinking of my neighbor who has cancer. I’m not sure how far along it was when his was caught. I do know that presently he is using the ketogenic diet to beat it back. His numbers are good at the moment. He makes sure there’s no sugar in his diet for the cancer to feed on.

    Completed a good FD today, tomorrow will be NFD with Wednesday another FD. I’ve got a busy Easter weekend coming up with a birthday and leaving do too 🙈 Am hoping to be really good for the next few days in preparation!

    @at So sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis of cancer. Wouldn’t it be good if they caught in time and could be healed. Your so right we all could remember to live today now, as if it were our last. Make the most out of today. Praying for your freinds well being and health.✨
