    Day 10/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Hi uk Co Down day 9 nfd

What am I missing? Naked gardeners and bunny porn and they are just the posts that caught my eye as i went to check in lol!

Hello all, I realize that I am a bit delayed in joining in but I need this motivation. 9/4 has been a fasting day for me.

Today will be a NFD rather than my usual Monday fast. I could say it’s because I’m under my targeted weight again but that would be kidding myself it’s really because my head is in the wrong place. So I’m allowing myself a controlled break, my body is craving comfort food and more protein. It’s cold wet and stormy here in Melbourne. I’m wanting to get ‘hygge.’ I’ve been allowing myself breaks from time to time and it’s helped with maintenance overall. So I’m embracing the break I have to have.

I’m still on the wagon. My cravings and behaviours have changed. My comfort foods are so different now and so much healthier and my portions are half the size!

Hugs to our kind supportive global family. Together we are stronger.

    Day 10 – Tokyo, Japan – FD 81.3kg

I had three large salads over the weekend, couldn’t do a forth and did a curry instead. My weight is up, but I’m also upping my game and will really start working my upper body harder.

It is interesting to read about people’s reaction to sugar. I totally believe that different people have different reactions. @bert1802 is like me and @snowflake56 is on the opposite end of the spectrum. It is pretty well known that young kids often bounce off the walls after having sugar but of coarse they love it.

I think that is the problem with diets, most diets are just rules and don’t take into account that we are all different. Besides genetics there is our environments, our current health, our eating history, our eating preferences, our activity levels, our varied gut microbes, our age, our race, our gender, our body size, our body composition and probably so many more factors that make us different. Top that off with we are always changing.

Still when I look at Japan and the USA there is a huge difference in the diet. I’m lucky because if I had stayed in the states I would still probably be obese. Likely I would be diabetic by now and be trapped following the more standard path that often leads to early death and low quality of life. Maybe I would have figured it out but without a doubt being forced to cope with a different culture and lifestyle helped wake me up. I’m humbled by the many people that do get in control of their diets and body without the advantages I had. There are many people all over the world that are winning the battles and figuring out what works for them. When one considers how much is against people doing getting in control of their weight and how much momentum there is working against people succeeding it is truly impressive what groups like this one are doing.

    @dykask Wonderful post.

Day 10 FD country West Australia
Day 9 FD just over 500 calories but under 600. Will try to stay under as I think it helps me to be slightly more disciplined and not allow the ‘ added extras’ to stray into the ‘ this little bit won’t hurt’ !!

    Day 9….. Florida…… NFD

Just a quick post, getting ready for dinner!

Welcome to the group, our new friend! Your going to love it here!

Please add me to the list for tomorrow’s FD!

    Okay, I’m off!

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy!

Day 10- Syd Australia – FD

Hey heard about it today — want to start tomorrow in the challenge – can I please? I am from Toronto, Canada.

2nd post — After working out my weight dropped down to 79.3kg. However I didn’t push that hard. I’ll have to see how the hunger goes. This weekend I had 3 very large salads. That is a lot of fiber I’m carrying and for now it seems content staying inside me.

    Pocketeers you can do this!

    Day 8&9 NFD NZ
    Day 10 FD

    Apologies for delayed updating.
I’ve had some things happen since the 7th and I haven’t had the motivation to log in and post.
It’s still interested in catching up but I need to work through my employment issues before I can concentrate on reading back through all I’ve missed.

On the happy side I have been comfortably wearing some jeans that were too tight last month and my mental and emotional stress has given me physical nausea (maybe not fully happy about that part) so I’m feeling uninterested in food which makes fasting easy and staying under TDEE no problem at all. I’ve also been running hard bush runs since April began and I’ve done two extras in the last three days just to try and clear my head.
Exercise may not have enormous benefits for weight loss but it certainly helps with stress and coping, at least for me it does anyway.
I’m sorry if I’ve missed anything important but noes just not the time for me to take on board too many other things. I will catch up eventually and in the meantime I hope everyone is doing well as we lead into Easter.

    Day 10 – Croatia – NFD
    Weight: 77.9 kg

    Day 10 UK FD B?B

    Day 10 UK FD 🌈

Here we go Mon and Tues B2B.

    Good luck all. 😊

Sooo, the scales are in: 66kg is what I am working back from. That’s a whopping 1.4kg up from last week–I certainly had quite a weekend! Feeling a little less happy with my choices now admittedly, but that’s life. Wish me luck for those 3 to 4 FDs before another weekend!

    Good luck, everyone!

Day 10, Cumbria UK , nfd
Weighed in this morning ….147lbs 4oz so yey that’s a loss in the right direction.
Well done weekend fasters and good luck for todays festers’, CDs and nfd’s xx

    Day 10 UK FD800

I like this month:) Down another pound over night to 196.6, closing in rapidly on 14 stone. Last month I was stuck on a plateau for three weeks. It doesn’t always go smoothly for anyone, but if you persevere it will work especially with the support of this group. Together we are stronger!

    Day 10
My 3rd week on 5:2 so the 5th day FD.
Wgt this am 67kgs which is only 0.5 kgs down so not much but we had a great weekend with friends helping in our garden.
Now really have the bit between the teeth as was actually looking forward to todays FD. Next one is Thursday.

Just having 1/2 a grapefruit now prio to zumba shortly.
The plan is hopefully to leave having any more food for as long a possible this am & chicken with lots of veg for this evenings dinner.
Do folks find that a FD is harder after good weekends like I have had?

@dykask: thank you for the post

    Day 10 – Notts UK – BSD

Thanks to a heads up from @hereigo am switching to BSD I think it will suit my situation better.

    Day 10 Portugal NFD
60.8kg (yay into the 60s – was not expecting that).
    BMI 22.9

I was so sure after eating so badly last week that I had put on weight (if I had weighed midweek the scales would def have shown an increase – and that’s why I didn’t weigh midweek!) but the weekend FDs have been worth it and cancelled out any weight gain. Not a huge loss from the beginning of the month (0.3kg) but a loss and crossing into the 60s makes the loss feel even greater! My aim this month is to get to 59.5kg so it still seems possible. Getting closer and closer to goal weight of 57kg by end June before heading off on holiday.

    Day 10 Belfast FD

I’ve not been in the loop for a few days. Long story. I decided to buy a new car but what I wanted wasn’t available where I live, which is a relatively small market, so I went over to England (home, I might say even after 40 years) and bought one. Got an unplanned catch up with sis in Northampton and small son in Dublin, which of course was lovely. I woke early this morning in our hotel room and caught up with the posts.I actually woke up OH with my chuckling!
Home this morning. Need to reset, so put me on the list with the pocketeers please.

    Day 10, Newcastle UK, FD

Yesterday was groundhog day. Feel sick this morning. Serves me right.

@skinnylove and @sarah57 – thank you for your positive attitudes following your weekend hiccups. I’m going to reread all my posts from the beginning of this journey and give myself a big kick up the backside.
@annnursekirk – on the contrary – I find fasting on Monday is pretty easy because I’m still full from the weekend (although not usually as full as today!).

I wish you all a happy and successful Monday whatever you’re doing.

    Day 10, London, UK, NFD.

Quick post, intending to catch-up this evening (without that glass of red though!!!!)

Good luck everyone, keep the faith!!!!

    Day 10 Newcastle UK FD.
First of three this week trying to preempt the chocolate weekend coming up. 😨 Easter dinner only bettered by Christmas dinner, I will not over eat I will not over eat oh go on then I’ll have those extra 6 roast potatoes 😭
Have a great focused week everyone.

Day 10 UK FD Had a lovely afternoon in the garden yesterday ,nice to get a bit of sun on those white bits – not quite as much as @obesa though πŸ˜€ Nice to be able to catch up on all posts ,so many fascinating journeys , you really are all very inspiring ! Whether flying high losing or down a bit and struggling ,it all rings so true ,it’s amazing how as a global group we share so much .So we are now a third of the way through this particular challenge and I’m trying to reboot and get back on track

Thanks for adding me to the list – good luck fellow pocketeers x

    Day 10 UK NFD

Weight 67.1Kg down from 70.6 Kg when I started 5:2 4 weeks ago, so just under 8 pounds. Quite happy with that but 2 weeks holiday coming up … flying out to Australia tomorrow. Will definitely try to keep on track! Do not want to undo all the progress. Will continue to follow the wonderful supportive posts and try to maintain good habits!

Day 10 Kent UK FD ( Zero Calorie)

I don’t usually do zero cal but I have ground to make up, fingers crossed I can make it. No milk in tea and no Kefir today, already missing it. Busy day planned including dog walk and dance class and weather sunny but chilly so gardening on the agenda this afternoon. Bridge at a friend’s tonight but she knows I don’t eat biscuits so she won’t offer me any thank goodness. Water, water and green tea- boring but hopefully effective. I shall be thinking of dinner tomorrow night – Kippers – yum

Still focussed on losing 4 lbs this month, bring it on! No family home for Easter so chocolate will not be an issue.

    Day 10, Belfast, NFD
This forum is really growing! I’m catching some of the posts here and there. Good luck any FD today.

@lany36 I hope things go better for you soon!

Pocketeers — While I’m 1/2 though my fast I’m sure many are just starting. We can do this. This has been a good fast for me even though I worked out harder than normal (For a FD) this morning. Slight hunger but nothing that is a problem.

I hope everyone makes the day count!

Sydney Australia. This might be of interest to those of you who swap out sugar for artificial sweeteners. I just watched “trust me I’m a doctor” – Mosley’s programme. Apparently artificial sweeteners in soft drinks and other foods significantly change your gut bacteria and speed up a range of health problems – including diabetes. Stevia could be ok. Worth a watch.

    Day 7 – CARDIFF UK – NFD
    Day 8 – CARDIFF UK – FD
    Day 9 – CARDIFF UK – FD
    Day 10 – CARDIFF UK – NFD

    Starting Weight : 160.8lbs
    Today’s Weight : 158.6lbs (2.2lbs)

@Oakeydokey sorry for adding to your workload, but not been able to post a few days as OH in hospital. Not really sure if I’ve had FD or NFD, more ‘eat when you can’ days. Porridge every morning, then see how it goes. Had bread for the first time in ages yesterday, and a yoghurt with higher sugar level than I would usually have, but choices are limited.

After visiting tonight taking my daughters for a carvery. We don’t get to eat out together very often as my husband can’t be left alone at home, so making the most of a bad situation. I’ll try and take it easy with the roast potatoes, but at least the meat and veg will make up for the nutrient deficits of the past few days. We won’t mention the Yorkshire pudding or stuffing!

Hope everyone is doing well. Managing to keep up with reading posts, just not been able to get my head together to make my own. Have had a few chuckles over the @obesa/@Flourbaby posts which I shared with my girls (15 & 18) and was told our garden is far too overlooked for that sort of behaviour. Mind, I don’t even go in the garden in shorts, so no fear too much of this lilywhite skin being exposed.

    Take care x

    Day 10 UK ……FD

    Day 10 Melbourne FD

    Day 10 – Switzerland – FD

Wow, I lose track of the posts for a couple of days and we get frisky rabbits, naked gardening and all sorts of scale- and non-scale victories. This is a great thread!

Found kefir in our local Co-op on Saturday. It tasted like a rather nice natural yoghurt, but no indication of whether it was ‘live’ or not (although oddly, it did have a ‘contains alcohol’ warning…). Does this sound like it’s the right stuff??

Have a Easter holiday back in the UK with all of OH’s side of the family next week. I have always felt really uncomfortable around them regarding my weight, and they are very odd about food, and have done a lot of teasing in the past. So I am just going to keep my head down, eat healthily and not too much, rather than give them more ammunition by explaining my WOE. Luckily, having craved Cadbury’s chocolate for years, it just doesn’t do it for me any more (might be me, might be changes to the ingredients…) so I think I’ll be okay resisting chocolate eggs. Not sure whether our cottage will have wifi so @okaydokey, I may be out of contact from Sat 15 to Sat 22 which will all be NFDs – thank you!

@coda lol it was always point something with Star trek captain’s log always made me laugh 😁 my mind is not far from the gutter most days.
Can I mention I was up the allotment gardening on Sunday seem the whole group was at it, scared a few people with my extremely White legs which are slightly pink now. Planted 80 strawberries ginger root and garlic chives.

Day 9, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD (too busy to post, sorry)

Day 10, USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD (and happy to be back fasting, way too much birthday partying over the weekend!)

Still in maintenance, under goal weight of 145.

My best to all of you, have a lot of reading to do!

    Day 10……..Florida…… FD

Well, it’s Monday again! Last week was crazy, I ended up working 6 days in a row! I’m not sure, I’ve caught up on me time but it’s off to work I go again today. This week, is another odd week too. Work today, off tomorrow, work Wed and Thur., then off Goof Friday, Sat and Sun. Good thing, I like my job or this type of scheduling would drive me crazy.

As far as today, I really need to make my FD a good and strong one as all hell breaks out tomorrow. Tomorrow, I get to spend the whole day with my bestie. Our birthdays are very close, mine 3/28, hers 4/1 and we always spend one day together, but this year has been crazy so, it’s been hard to see her, that are Birthday day got pushed 2 weeks later than normal.
We are headed to the outlets in Ellington about an hour away, breakfast at Dunkin’ Donuts, lunch at PF changs and lots of laughs and re connecting. So thus, the need good and strong FD.

I also have decide to start taking ACV again, I’m not so sure it helped in the weight loss category but I did notice some improvements in the gut and bowel region. So, I’m giving it another go around and if it seems to be helping, I may have to consider it a normal part of my life now. I’m definitely playing this one by ear.

Okay well, I must be off. I forgot to charge my tablet last night, so I’m slowly losing the ability to post!

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy as it is Monday after all!

Fun thread, but trust me if I was gardening naked – the plants would all wither and die !

    Day 10- US- FD
    Day 11–US- NFD 16:8
    Day 12–US- NFD 16:8

    Day 6 – 9 London NFD
    Day 10 FD

    Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well whether on FD or NFD. Work has been very busy for once which is good because there’s no time to start dreaming about food!

It will be a short week this week which is nice and I’m visiting my brother on Friday as it’s his 40th this week. Won’t be too much of a cake fest though as he is not into sweet things at all and really hardly ever eats with us anyway. He has Asperger’s syndrome and has his own way of doing things as well as his own schedule for eating and often skipping meals…. What makes most people happy generally fills him with dread and he would not dream of having a birthday party! So we will probably go to the coffee shop and cinema.

I’ve discovered Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) on Youtube. He has loads of 20 – 30 min HIT workouts which are pretty good and challenging. I’ve tried the one for chest and triceps a couple of times and it’s a really hard workout, mixing strength (lots of push-ups/tricep dips) and cardio (high knees, mountain climbers etc). My abs really ached the next day (in a good way!) – turns out you use abs a lot when you do push-ups ;o)

Good luck all, may we all eat mindfully today!
