  • Day 9 Notts UK NFD

Had a reasonably good day yesterday, tummy definitely less bloated this morning. I am type 2 diabetic so not able to do a full FD yet, but thinking I can cut out lunch and do a part day fast. Any other Type 2’s got any tips for me. Am due to see the nurse next month so hoping for a good weight loss and bloods coming down before then.

    Hi. I’m with you

    day 9, NFD Sydney Australia
Another FD tomorrow. Couldnt do today being Sunday, as sometimes you just need that glass of Pinot Noir on Sunday evening to gear up mentally for the week ahead! But did a hard boot camp class this morning, and only a boiled egg on toast for breakfast, and a salad for lunch so a glass of wine shouldn’t hurt.
Feeling good about the April Challenge. And maybe its the lack of calories, but this forum is getting very entertaining @fatrabbit @obesa @stantoontaxidriver especially!
Good luck all – a new week ahead.

    Day 9 Oman FD

Day 9 UK NFD Got weighed this morning and no change which I guess reflects my efforts – too much partying at the weekends . I’m reassessing my goal, off on holiday 1st June and I’d like to be 9 st something ( 9.13 will be fine ) by then I’m hoping having a longer term goal will take the pressure off and enable me to get back to gradually losing as last week I was obsessing far too much and it doesn’t work for me .

Fasting tomorrow and aim to get up nice and early as I’m starting g a new daily abs routine – want to wear that bikini with confidence , planning to have an hour chilling in the garden this afternoon and will catch up on all posts

    Day8 SYDNEY AUSTRALIA – NFD
No weight change from Day7 FD

    Day9 SYDNEY AUSTRALIA – NFD

Day 9, Cumbria UK , FD
Had a great fast day yesterday, definitely helped knowing I had fellow fasters taking on a Saturday with all it’s temptations, I’m doing a double whammy and hoping for another good fast today too. Good luck everyone, especially all those Sunday fasters xx

    Day 9 – Cumbria UK – NFD/CD

What gorgeous weather we are having.

Did not break my fast yesterday until around 1200hrs with a very light brunch – a good afternoon in the sunshine and drinking lots of water – dinner was a gorgeous homemade beetroot curry with a side of spinach and brown rice – so good so far……..but then for some reason I had the nibbles later that evening and………..😫 resulting in a restless sleep

Today is another day…….light brunch out with OH, an afternoon of lazing in the garden reading and maybe a bit of light gardening.
Going to see a live telecast of the Bolshoi Ballet “A Hero of our Time” later this afternoon then a mixed salad planned for dinner so will make today a controlled day and then my usual Monday FD (water/tea with a dash of skimmed milk only) to reset for the week.

I ordered some Kefir grains which are arriving tomorrow morning so will be trying to make some homemade kefir for daily use (bought some and loved it……will be a lot cheaper to make my own!)

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and feeling good!

Yesterday was gorgeous weather and it would have been silly not to sit in the garden with a glass of wine (wouldn’t it). Today looks set to be the same. Planning gardening (clothed😀) followed by roast dinner. Hoping the digging outweighs the potato calories then tomorrow back to ADF – which means Good Friday fast day. Should be interesting experiment😄.

Thanks to everyone for your support.

Disasterous food-wise night w/dear neighbors. 2 vodkas pre dinner & 2 glasses wine w/dinner – so major headache this morning. Dinner was clam spaghetti & salad – only thing I didn’t eat was the bread. Skinny cow ice cream bar for dessert because they know I’m “dieting”! Home to wolf 1/2 a bag of pretzels. I feel awful on many levels. Need to re-evaluate & have a better game plan. Last time there brought a big mug of steaming tea to nurse pre-dinner. Also, next time I’ll find out the menu – no need for big carbo loading. Tough couple of food days…trying not to beat myself up, but difficult when it hurts to move my head or even blink. Pushing RESET today!

@fatrabbit – great news – so happy for you!
    @obesa – great post – don’t forget the sunscreen!
@flourbaby – your reaction was hysterical!

Off to meet friends for walk & breakfast – will attempt @dykask‘s way of fasting today – already planned – 2 eggs for breakfast & salad for dinner. Friend having Seder dinner postponed, so I’m off the hook for dinner.

Gorgeous day here….make it a great day everybody!

    Day 9 – USA – FD

    Day 9 Portugal FD

I’m joining you again today @mrsgettingthere. Usually I have a small meal in the evening but our Sunday routine is different in that we eat our main meal at lunch time. Just had it – very small portion (under 500cal certainly) but hoping I can make it through the rest of the day. Seems a long time until tomorrow lunchtime when I will break the fast.
Very strange fasting on the weekend but good as well.

    Day 9 USA NFD
After doing a B2B I’m looking forward to a calm NFD. Going to be mindful and enjoy what I eat! We had more snow yesterday and we are wondering if winter will ever end, so I appreciate stories of gardens, bunnies, and true spring! Very thankful for our on line global community, maybe the whole world needs some mindful eating, fasting and global mutual support these days!❤

Day 9, Rocky Mountains, US, FD 800 cals

Would love to join the Monday pocketeer group!

    Day 9 – USA – FD

    Day 9….. Florida…..NFD

I got to laughing when I read naked gardening had to reread to make sure I read it right. then Jolly being jolly…… what a great way to start the day with laughter!

I had a bit of joy this morning when I stepped on the scale and was down a pound. So, I want to thank who ever brought the car around and picked me up! I really needed the pick me up.

I’m not even sure how I managed to lose this pound. I mean realistically, I did not do a darn thing except overeat. Plus, I’m not sure if this makes a difference but since the girl who drove me crazy is no longer there, I seem to be doing more moving at work.

Dykask…… since starting this WOL in Nov., I have had quite a change in my consumption of sugars. I hardly eat them and when I do eat them, it send my body into a heck of a tizzy. I want to congratulate you on your success on the sugar front.
Since reading your post and thinking about what eating sugar does to me, I can’t believe more people including the health administration has not done more to get the added sugar out of our food.
    Ah, food for thought!

Okay, well I must be off. Just had company arrive with breakfast.

Be classy, sassy and a bit bad assy!

Day 9 USA (Utah – visiting) – NFD

Did okay yesterday, stayed under TDEE but not much exercise the last couple days.

Off to church- have a good day, all. Onward and downward!

Day 9–MA, USA–NFD. Down two pounds! I must say, I am a little nervous going into my first nfd after 3 days of fasting. Does any one else get those NFD nerves? I’m not starving at the moment, but worry that my first meal will send me into a food frenzy. Need to make sure that I am eating mindfully, and that I don’t lose sight of my goals. Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, it sounds like many have had some great successes to celebrate!

    Day 9, Germany, NFD

@fatrabbit, you’re doing so well!Love reading about the bunnies.
@obese, hope you and DH enjoyed yout second gardening day!
@flourbaby loved your 2nd and 3rd post, what stimulating posts we have here!
@stevetoontaxidriver I’m so sorry now, I left out the WW, what an interesting experience this would have been. Loved the summery on what’s going on there.

@monkeydo I’m also having problems to eat enough, I just can’t eat the amount of food. I’m doing fine so for the moment I just eat more cheese and nuts.

About sugar: I stopped eating sugar somewhere in the beginning of February, when I strated this WOL. Didn’t notice any change physically, mentally, nor had any cravings. Last Thursday our most-loved patient came in to bring us chocolate bunnies and because I really like them, a bag of small Snickers bars. Well, we immediately opended the bag and ate. I had 3 of the really small bars (just 18 g, but 87 cal each), they were delicious, but 3 were enough. The others can have the rest, I ate them, I liked them, but I don’t need more. Afterwards I didn’t have any cravings for sweets or had any physical symptoms.

    Day 10 / UK / FD

Have temporarily stepped off the 5:2 train, will catch up on posts since late Friday when I fast the hell out of next week (we’ll see how far I can take it, B4B till end of Thursday is the dream). Too many social commitments, too many food indulgences, all totally worth it. In a very happy place with that–it’s probably helping that I have been avoiding the scales. Will step on them tomorrow to see where I am starting and then work myself back. I’ve got the tools to get to my goal and this was just a holiday!

I hope everyone has had a sunny weekend (weather as well as mood-wise) and a good start into the new week tomorrow!

    Day 8 – London, UK – NFD
    Day 9 – London, UK – NFD

    Day 9, USA, FD
Palm Sunday service at church kept me occupied and not thinking about FD, so now have the afternoon sunshine (yes, finally!) to distract me.
CLEO — was it you who asked about NFD nerves? fear of overeating on those days? I used to feel that way, and I did in the beginning when I started this WOL in Feb; to overeat and feel like I was negating all of the good. But, it does get easier and my nerves on those days have gone. Your body does physically get used to less, so you’ll find yourself eating less and more healthy.
I switched from 5:2 to AFD, as these ten pounds I have to lose are sticklers coming off at this stage of my life and I needed more structure; I’m amazed at the control that has come on the NFDs from doing this. Last night we went out to a British pub (yes, here in USA) on my NFD and my kids had burgers and fries on their plate; I am used to grabbing a few of those fries off of their plate and downing them, but I didn’t even want one. I kind of surprised myself.
And yes, omitting sugar or greatly limiting it, also reduces those cravings and urges to overeat.

To all those folks who want to know …… naturism is a spontaneous affair here…. and it didn’t happen.

I picked a load of flowers and put them on the well so as to Bless it, as it is Palm Sunday, I worked for three or four hours and then read my book while hubby Karchered the terrace. Then we had our first BBQ of the year.

If anyone is interested, our garden is in 11th April edition of Country Life In a feature about village gardens. It’s not the sort of magazine I would buy (and I don’t suppose you would either) but you might see it in a waiting room somewhere.

So that’s it folks, just another boring old day in the garden !

Day 9 – SW WA USA – NFD

It’s a gorgeous Palm Sunday here. Home after a spring break trip to family in Canada. Also enjoyed the early spring flowers – fields of daffodils, hyacinths of several varieties & a few tulips – at Roozengaarde in Mt. Vernon, WA area.

I think I ate too much kettle corn at the flower place yesterday. Looking forward to a fast day tomorrow. I need to catch back up to you fatrabbit. Fatrabbit, are you now doing the 800 cal every day? For how long do you think?

    Day 9 – US – NDF CD
It’s a beautiful day here! I’m sitting on our porch listening to the birds smelling the flowers as I update some of the worksheet. @fordprefect and I went for a nice walk earlier together. Last night I had only eaten veggies, shrimp and scallops (only half a portion) no rice and no Margarita 😜after eating less than 250 cals earlier. Ok That’s a pretty big deal for me. It’s 2:00PM here and I haven’t had anything but water. I will have shrimp and veggies for dinner. Mainly because I realize how much better I feel staying away from the carbs and sugar. I’m having 2 NFD CD’s. By staying away from the carbs and sugar I’m hoping to stay on the fat burning zone. I’m hoping I’ll be able to ease into my FD Monday and continuing through the week. Knowing that maybe next week end I can have my chocolate mint chip icecream.. and suffer the sugar consequences. I don’t feel as deprived as I might have before. I also came outside to our lovely porch and yard because they are cooking pizza inside and heating up big Pretzels and I want to keep this weekend a no carb no sugar NFD CD. I’ll see if it helps my FD’s this week😊
🤣I can still smell the pizza out here. 😊My daughter says when you smell food but don’t eat it, your stomach excretes enzymes which causes you to burn more fat and lose weight. 😊✨😊

Hi all! First time poster wondering if I might join? Late to the party, but I’ve been following this thread for a while (global camaraderie is infectious) and decided to create an account. I’ve been experimenting with IF for a little over a month, and enjoying it a lot. Thanks in advance to @okeydokey – the effort you put in is admirable.

I’m pretty sure I’ve fairly accurately recreated the month so far… I kinda fly by the seat of my pants a bit.

    April goal: 52kgs or under

    Day 2 – CD

    Day 4 – FD(36hr water)
    Day 5 – NFD – 52.4kgs – purposeful healthy overeating day (PHOD? :-P)

    Day 7 – NFD – birthday.
    Day 8 – NFD – 52.7kgs – cake finishing day.
    Day 9 – FD800

Going very well so far. I’ll finish eating by 8 or 8.30 hopefully, which is much earlier than usual (night owl) so that I can do 16:8 tomorrow effortlessly.

Hope everyone has had the kind of day they wanted to!

Not a controlled weekend, no binges or anything but too much to eat and drink for the last two day. I really need tomorrow’s fast. Thank goodness for this WOL. You can have a bad weekend but get straight back on it and not feel as if you have wrecked anything. I think the summer is a dangerous time, more socialising, wine in the garden and generally a holiday atmosphere. I started last September so have never done a summer on 5/2. This is the first of many and I need to learn how to manage it. Xx

Sorry OkayDokey, can you change the spreadsheet to make today a FD for me please. Got off to a good start today and decided to carry on as a FD. Nearly bedtime and so far not succumbed to the chocolates calling to me from the kitchen….. thanks..x

    2nd post

What a beautiful day! It was an absolute pleasure to be working outside today. The rabbits outside were all either sunbathing or digging holes so they could lie in the cool soil. The honeymooners in the conservatory were a bit too warm to get up to much. I had to leave all the doors and windows open and shade them with towels. Both groups are getting on really well. I have decided to call the new girl Violet as there are some lovely ones out in the garden and she has bright blue eyes and is exceedingly pretty. The cherry blossom is out too, both the wild cherries and the cultivated ones. The pear blossom is out too and there are flowers on the blueberries, blackcurrants and josta berries, although these are only really visible from up close. The primroses did not like the heat and are drooping but the comfrey and sweet cicely look lovely and the first white and pink bells are opening. I must do some watering tomorrow as it is very dry.

@annemarilyn Yes I am doing 800 every day in a 3-4 hour window in the afternoon which is my hungry time. I find it easy not to eat in the mornings and evenings. I am going to continue until the 21st at least and then decide whether to carry on up to the full 8 weeks. It is working so well it seems silly to stop. I still have a long way to go. The BSD is a great tool when you have a lot to lose. Although I may have gone over a bit today as the sprout curry I made was a bit too nice:~ I added a punnet of blueberries as we have so many. The rabbits all got some too. Blueberries not curry.

Hi @tillysmum have you looked at michael Moseleys blood sugar diet it’s designed for people who are pre diabetic and diabetic and there’s a 5:2 option which might suit you in that you do two FDs of 800 cals and 5 days days of following a low carb Mediterranean diet and no calorie counting. Theres a website called the blood sugar diet I’ll link it for you if you like.
Ps I’m in the next county to you.

    Day 10 NZ FD

Hi @hereigo thanks for the info on blood sugar diet will be sure and look it up tomorrow. Thanks again neighbour and goodnight!
