“Yogurt is called as a probiotics. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. We usually think of bacteria as something that causes diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called helpful bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.
yogurt contains: Animal protein, Magnesium, Vitamin B-2, Vitamin B-12, Potassium, Calcium”
fHello all: I’m lactose intolerant so have been making my own yogurt for some time now by using lactose free milk and a yogurt starter, with a recipe I found online. I put no sugar in it and if I want it sweetened, I mix a little low sugar Smuckers jam in. I’ve also started putting 1 tablespoon of flax seed in it right before eating. Makes a lovely snack and my body loves the way it’s keeping me “regular”.

1. Yogurt protects against decay
Yoghurt contains lactic acid, which neutralizes bacteria that contribute to the erosion of enamel, and thus to tooth decay. Frequent consumption of yogurt, despite the fact that it contains sugars, does not harm our teeth.
2. Yogurt reduces blood pressure
Nutrition specialists have proved that people who consume dairy products on a daily basis (with low milk fat content) are not so exposed to the increase in blood pressure. The cause of problems with hypertension is, above all, too much sodium in the body. Yoghurt, in its composition, contains potassium, which levels its level.
3. Yogurt protects against colds
Researchers found that bacteria that are found in yogurt stimulate the activity of immune cells. Therefore, it is enough to consume a small cup of yogurt a day to effectively protect against disease.
4. Yogurt is a source of vitamins
Frequent consumption of yogurt allows to provide the body with valuable nutrients. This snack contains, among others, Vitamin B2, B5 and B12 (the latter is especially needed for vegetarians, because it occurs in meat and people who do not eat meat may suffer from its deficiency). In addition, yogurt is a source of phosphorus and potassium, zinc, as well as calcium.
5. Yogurt helps to regenerate the body after training
Yoghurt is recommended to all athletes after intense exercise. A portion of natural yogurt contains proteins and carbohydrates in perfect proportions. As a result, the body receives everything it needs to supplement energy losses and regenerate muscles.
6. Yogurt helps you get a beautiful waist
Yoghurt is a source of calcium that limits the secretion of cortisol. It is a hormone responsible for accumulating fat around the waist. If we do not forget about systematic exercises, we will be able to enjoy a flat stomach. In addition, proteins contained in a portion of yogurt do not allow the use of muscle protein for energy purposes.
7. Yogurt contains live bacterial cultures
More and more often we can hear in advertisements that a given yogurt contains live bacterial cultures. However, most recipients do not say anything. These live bacterial cultures are probiotics. They nest in our digestive tract, support digestion, produce vitamin K. They also protect against microorganisms that are dangerous to health.
8. Yoghurts contain calcium and vitamin D, but to a different degree
Yoghurts are a source of calcium that strengthens our bones. In addition, in its composition contain vitamin D responsible for the absorption of calcium. However, not all yoghurts have them to the same extent, so check before buying them.
i always shied away from yogurt because i feared the sugar within it. but then i started having dinner with a couple of guys on the floor of my dorm last year. both guys were ripped. one was a gymnast…
they both always ate a bowl of yogurt with their meal. i couldn’t figure it out. i guess sometimes a little sugar isnt that bad if it contains other benefits?
Yogurt offers several benefits for overall health and well-being. Here are some key advantages of including yogurt in your diet:
Nutrient-rich: Yogurt is a good source of essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, vitamin B12, riboflavin, and phosphorus.
Probiotics: Certain types of yogurt contain live beneficial bacteria known as probiotics. These probiotics promote a healthy gut microbiome and can help improve digestion and boost the immune system.
Bone health: The calcium and vitamin D content in yogurt contribute to bone health and can help prevent conditions like osteoporosis.
Digestive health: The probiotics in yogurt aid in maintaining a healthy balance of gut bacteria, which can support digestion and alleviate digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, and diarrhea.
Weight management: Yogurt is often low in calories and can be a satisfying snack that helps control hunger and cravings, making it beneficial for weight management.
Protein source: Yogurt is a good source of protein, which is important for muscle growth, repair, and satiety.
Heart health: Some studies suggest that consuming yogurt regularly may help lower the risk of heart disease by improving blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
When choosing yogurt, opt for plain varieties without added sugars or artificial ingredients. Greek yogurt, skyr, and other strained yogurts tend to be higher in protein.
