  • I have just started this program. When figuring my current fitness I come up with a huge disparity regarding my VO2 max. When using the calculation on page 154, my VO2 max is 51. When using the Rockport One Mile Walk Test on page 156, my VO2 max is 27.80. Anyone else encounter this? Anyone out there that can explain it? (I’ve reviewed my math numerous times.) Thanks.

Hey, that’s interesting/odd in equal measure. The only thing I can suggest to help is that, each test is different, and to be honest it doesn’t particularly matter which score you take, so long as the next time to take the test, you use the same test!

VO2 max is a hard thing to measure accurately. The only way to really measure it is in a lab. However it does give you a nice measure, and another test to measure your progress when using the same test. I wouldn’t worry too much.
