  • Hi all,

I just completed my second week of the 4:3 diet and i haven’t lost any weight.
The first week i lost 300g and was happy with that and this week i figured i should lose the same if not more seeing as i exercised more. Then this morning i jumped on the scales only to find the exact same weight as last week 🙁
I stuck to all the plans and didnt even over eat on my off days.
I know its not going to happen straight away but its just got me a little down now. Anyway Ive decided to up the exercise and press on. Just dont want to step on those scales this time next week and have the same feeling.

Hope everyone else is going strong.

    Cheers
    Savlich

    Hi Savlich and welcome:

You might read two and five in this post: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Savlich, there are a gazillion reasons why you might have not lost weight over the last seven days.

You say you have introduced exercise. This might lead to water retention.

Your sodium intake might’ve been up?

Weight loss is not a straight journey. You might lose one week a lot of weight and the next week next to nothing. This is normal.

Also quite often you might lose inches around your waist while the scale shows no progress.

One of the most important things on your journey is patience.

I assume you have calculated your TDEE correctly and you are sticking to the under 500 calories per day rule? A good way to log your food is to download the free app Myfitnesspal. Another good way is to buy yourself food scale. It is very easy to underestimate your food intake!

Take small steps. Make gradually changes to your diet. Cut out unnecessary calories by avoiding for example sugary drinks. Beware alcohol contains calories! Try and avoid as much as possible processed foods such as frozen pizzas and so forth. Start cooking your own meals from scratch and eat as many veggies and to some extent fruits as possible. Particularly veggies fill you up nicely without containing a lot of calories.

If you stick to the rules you will see it does work!

    Best of luck
    Stef.

I read simcoeluv’s newbie guide and found it really helpful, especially about not losing heart because the scales don’t move down, or not fast enough 🙂

If you eat for your present BMI your weight will stay the same.

If you eat for below that you will lose weight. How fast is based on how many less calories you’re have.

I eat for my BMR not my TDEE and I did the calculations on what I should weigh not what my present weight is there is a HUGE difference. Just between my BMR and my TDEE there is a 360 calorie difference. I haven’t changed my eating one bit. I have changed my portion size by about 1/3 and I still have beer and scotch. Just not the whole 6 pack and not half the bottle. I fast two days a week Monday and Thursday. Sometimes I stretch the timing until noon or the evening. Ie. I don’t eat from after supper sunday and I have had my bedtime snack. Then I won’t eat until sometime on Tuesday noon or evening.

This time I’m not eating from Sunday night until Thursday noon. Just before I break the fast I’m having blood panels done. Then I’ll eat a small meal of fruit and light soup, wait an hour and have another series done. My Dr is very intrigued

Am I losing weight? I’m not saying now I didn’t change my eating pattern to 5;2 for weight lose though I could afford to lose 70 lbs. I’m doing this for health benefits which I am getting in ways I never thought possible. The weight loss is a pure bonus. The really sad part is due to a heart condition I have to weigh myself twice a day. So I know how the scale thing goes.

You can go for weeks not losing a thing then it will seem to zoom off. However your body shape may be changing all them time you are in the stall. For instance the 5:2 diet is responsible for the most embarrassing moment of my life and at 61 that’s saying something. I was shopping took a step and my trousers hit the floor. Yep everything was good then I was standing there with a face as dropped as my trousers with my Stanfield showing. Thank the lord I take mom’s advice and always wear clean underwear.

Keep on keeping on and the weight will come off. I hope your trousers/slacks don’t
