  • Hi I took all of my measurements yesterday as baseline measurements including my resting pulse and pulse after one hour of yoga. Yesterday was a fast day. My resting pulse was 50 bpm! I am female 43 years old with chronic pain and mobility issues so would not consider myself as fit or athletic as i can’t walk, run, cycle etc etc anyway. Before I had health issues (age 14) I was athletic and had a low pulse but it doesn’t make sense now.
After one hour of yoga, it was 62! I know yoga isn’t energetic like running etc but it does increase my heart, make me hot and sweaty, just generally not out of breath.
Could fasting cause your pulse to drop? Just took it now, resting but after eating and cup of green tea, so would expect it to be higher and it was 70.
Can anyone explain what may be going on here? Thanks.

Ok so it’s not just a fast day it’s low. Took it again about 45 mins after green tea etc and it was 57! Did 1 hour yoga work out split into 3 different sessions, all hard work and two of them power yoga and intense. Pulse after first 20 min session was 67, after next 30 minute session of fast power yoga it was 74 and after 10 minute power yoga core workout it was 72. All of these were done back to back with no rest in between. During I felt hot, sweating, breathing increased, not completely out of breath but would find it difficult to speak normally and could feel my heart beating strongly and faster thsn normal.
Is this all normal/ok? As explsined earlier I am not fit or athletic due to chronic conditions.
