  • Hi,

    I fast 16:8 (fast – eating)

And im thinking about consuming Kvass in the morning, but im not sure if this will effect by fast?

For those of you that dont know, KVASS is a fermented drink. You leave fruit in a jar and it ferments, Its good for restoring bacteria in your gut.

    Hi andre and welcome:

Yes. But I’m not sure why that matters unless you are doing multi-day or multi-week water fasts, which you say you are not.

So i eat between 12:30 & 8:30, so the morning i do not want to spike my blood sugar…

So how much does KVASS spike your blood sugar and is that amount material?

It will spike your insulin, after all, it contains fermented sugars.

What is your reason for 16:8? Is it to allow you to train in a fasted state? Is it simply a method of weight loss?

Time restricted feeding is intended to lower your levels of insulin for prolonged periods, allowing your body to access glycogen and fat stores – so personally, I’d avoid it during your 16hr fast.

Dr Jason Fung’s book, The Obesity Code goes into detail about how your hormones control various aspects of fat storage/oxidation, hunger, stress, etc., and discusses do’s and dont’s that help answer questions such as yours.
